My 03 Yukon Denali is experiencing all of the same things that the recall on the 2021 Yukon is experiencing. What do I do? The recall notice I am referring to is N252494000
CAR LOOSES POWER AND GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER. UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER 2MPH. HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES, IN ALL MODES OF TRAVEL, UPHILL, DOWNHILL, FROM A STOP AND ACCELERATION. THE WORST WAS WHEN IT HAPPENED GOING 55MPH ON A HIGHWAY. TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER $1,300 WORTH OF WORK AND NEW PARTS. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE MID OCTOBER 2019
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS MY CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING I'VE REPLACED FUEL PUMP. KNOCK SENSORS COILS AND PLUGS AND IT STILL DOES IT AND DOES NOT THROW A TROUBLE CODE.
THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEAD GASKET HAS BEEN SAID TO BE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS APPARENTLY IS A "COMMON" PROBLEM.
FOUND A BROKEN OFF EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT ON DRIVEWAY 3 YEARS AGO. FOUND ANOTHER BROKEN ONE TODAY. BOTH ARE FROM THE SAME SIDE. NOW INSTEAD OF 6 BOLTS I HAVE 4 BOLTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON 95N OF COLLEGE PARK, MD, MY VEHICLE POWER SEEM TO SHUTDOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE "REDUCE POWER ENGINE" MESSAGE APPEARED IN MY INSTRUMENTATION PANEL. FORTUNATELY I WAS CLOSE TO THE EMERGENCY PULL OFF OF THE LEFT LANE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE MESSAGE WENT A WAY. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO WITH MY JOURNEY. HOWEVER, JUST RECENTLY, IT HAS DONE IT AGAIN, THIS TIME MY SPEED WAS AROUND 35MPH. ONCE AGAIN, I TURNED IT OFF, THAN ON AND THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND I HAD POWER IN MY ACCELERATION AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M TAKING IT BACK IN TO THE MECHANIC TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE, WHICH RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 213,000.

ENGINE WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER (REP) MODE AND 4 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING CODES (DTC'S) WERE SET ALL RELATING TO THE THROTTLE ACTIVATION CIRCUIT (TAC). WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE POWER IS SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY AND THE ENGINE WILL ONLY IDLE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM AND IS A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE ENTIRE TAC SYSTEM ( THROTTLE BODY, TAC MODULE, PCM, WIRE HARNESSES/CONNECTORS) NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
ENGINE LEAKING OIL REAR CRANK SEAL AND PLATE. GMC SAID SEAL WILL NOT BE ENOUGH, NEED TO REPLACE PLATE. DEFECTIVE. MY MECHANIC CHARGED ME $710.41. GMC SHOULD BE REIMBURSING ME. *TR
WE HAVE A 2003 YUKON THAT WILL SHUTS DOWN ANYWHERE AND ANYTIME, THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" "STABILITY TRACTION LOSS" APPEARED ON DISPLAY - I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE CORRECTLY AND A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT WAS A SNOWY MESS OUT SIDE WHICH MADE THE SITUATION WORSE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I GET SCARED BECAUSE THERE COULD BE A SEMI BEHIND US AND IT WILL JUST PLOW INTO US BECAUSE WE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL WE SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND RESTART. VERY SCARY. WE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE TO FIND OTHER PEOPLE ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THIS IS A LONG STANDING ISSUE, GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. GM SEEMS TO BE HAVING ALOT OF PROBLEMS THAT THEY ARE NOT DEALING WITH. SHAME ON GM! *TR
PURCHASED 2003 YUKON XL FAILED STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE OF BROKEN MANIFOLD EXHAUST BOLTS CAUSED LEAKING MANIFOLD GASKET. EMISSION AND POSSIBLE FIRE POTENTIAL DUE TO LEAKING MANIFOLD. REPAIR COST ESTIMATED IN ACCESS OF $1,700. *TR

THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS ALSO REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHO LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ENGINE ELECTRICAL WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER BATTERY DRAIN REPLACEMENT RECALL 02066. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY YUKON 2003 DENALI AND THE ERROR MESSAGE SHOWED UP "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". I WASN'T ABLE TO GET THE SPEED UP TO 30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD SOMEONE COME PICK ME UP. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, THE MESSAGE NO LONGER APPEARED AND IT FUNCTIONED AT NORMAL SPEEDS. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE NOW. *TR

WE CAME HOME FROM VACATION TO FIND OUR 2003 YUKON'S BATTERY DEAD. MY HUSBAND JUMPED IT AND TOOK IT FOR A RIDE. IT WOULDN'T RUN OVER 20 MPH. THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT IS ON. HE SHUT IT OFF AND IT'S RUNNING OK RIGHT NOW. I CHECK OUT A COUPLE OF FORUMS ON THIS PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE ENDLESS NUMBERS OF CONSUMERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM COMING BACK EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALER. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO COME WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO THE DRIVER AND HAS ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENTS. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE CLAIM TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THEIR CAR SUDDENLY DROPS TO 20-30 MPH. GMC DOES NOT SEEM TO BE OVERLY CONCERNED WITH THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NO RECALLS ON IT. *TR
RANDOMLY, THE TRUCK WILL GO FROM DRIVING COMPLETELY NORMAL TO GETTING A MESSAGE SAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THEN IT CUTS OFF POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TO 12 TIMES, THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I COULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN APPROX 35 MPH EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL FLOORED. WE HAVE REPLACED THE SUPPOSEDLY DEFECTIVE PART(S) TO NO AVAIL.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR WITH THIS VEHICLE. I FILED A COMPLAINT ( 10398842 ) WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT ON 05/03/2011. SINCE THAT DATE, WE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DALLAS, TX FOR A CONVENTION WITH NO VEHICLE PROBLEMS. THEN ON JUNE 5TH, WE WERE RETURNING FROM HOUSTON WHEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING GAVE A MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO REDUCED POWER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. WE HAD TO WORK OUR WAY TO A SAFE AREA TO PARK BECAUSE WE WERE A HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. THIS AFTERNOON I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS TO GET SOME RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROTECTING ITSELF FROM DAMAGE. AGAIN, I ASKED IF IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO PROTECT THE ENGINE THAN THE OCCUPANTS, THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS RATHER TESTY ABOUT THE ISSUE. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I SAID THAT NO AUTOMOBILE IN AMERICA SHOULD SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC FOR A NON EMERGENCY. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DRIVER LOOSES CONTROL OF THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DURING THE REDUCED POWER INTERVAL WHICH SHOWS THAT ALL GAUGES WERE NORMAL SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO EXPECT ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WAS AT 500 RPM AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED. THIS IS CAUSING US TO FEAR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IN ANY CASE, I CANNOT SEE ANY REASON FOR ANY VEHICLE ON THE AMERICAN ROADS TO BE UNDER THE CONTROL OF ITSELF WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE PASSENGERS SHOULD BE THE PRIMARY CONCERN. I HOPE YOU CAN GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IF THERE ISN'T A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM, SHOULD THERE BE? THIS IS A LOW MILEAGE WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. *TR
