ENGINE LOSING COOLANT, WITH NO APPARENT SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. COOLANT APPEARS TO BE LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL, CAUSING IT TO SLUDGE, THEREBY CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE. GM IS AWARE OF AN ISSUE AND ISSUED TSB 06-06-01-019B FOR DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEAD CASTING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED LAST YEAR AND NOW OWE 10000 FOR A CAR THAT NEEDS A 6000 ENGINE REPLACEMENT. GM SHOULD BE MADE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS SINCE THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE, PER THEIR OWN DIRECTIVE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
FAULTY CASTECH HEAD CAUSED COOLANT FLUID TO DRAIN INTO BLOCK THEREFORE DESTROYING MOTOR. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THESE FAULTY HEADS AND REFUSES TO WORK TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 06-06-01-019B. *TR
ENGINE TURN IT SELF OFF WHILE MOVING, DOORS LOCK IT SELF, TURN SIGNALS WILL NOT RETURN AFTER TURNING, THEN BRIGHT LIGHTS COME ON WHEN SELECTING TURN SIGNALS, LOUD RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE CAR; NOT SURE WHAT IT COULD BE. *TR
UPON START UP OF VEHICLE, A TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THAT THE LEFT REAR EXHAUST BOLT ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD BROKEN OFF CAUSING EXHAUST LEAK. UPON INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE GM 6.0 LITER AND OTHER ENGINES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AND ALSO CAUSES THE EMISSIONS CONTROLS OF THE ENGINE TO BE INOPERABLE. POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUES CAN AND DO INCLUDE; CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FAILURE. *TR

MY CAR BEGAN TO HAVE A BUILD UP OF SLUGS AND BEGAN LOOSING OIL PRESSURE AND COOLANT AND NEEDED OIL ADDED AND COOLANT FREQUENTLY. OIL PRESSURE FLAT-LINED IN JANUARY OF 2012 AND IT WAS TAKEN TO MY MECHANIC. THE SLUGS WERE CLEANED AND A NEW OIL PUMP WAS PLACED BECAUSE OF THE BUILD UP OF SLUGS. I WAS ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL FREQUENTLY TO CLEAN THE SLUG OUT BUT IT CONTINUED TO BUILD UP AND THE MYSTERY OF LOOSING COOLANT OIL PRESSURE HAS BOTTOMED OUT TWO MORE TIMES AND I FOUND A ARTICLE ON THE INTERNET THAT A NUMBER OF GMC VEHICLES INCLUDING MINE WERE BUILT WITH DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEADS DUE TO CRACKS OVER TIME WHICH ALLOWS COOLANT TO LEAK INTO ENGINE AND MIX WITH THE OIL WHICH BUILDS UP SLUG. I WANT TO KNOW WHY A RECALL DOES NOT EXIST. THIS HAS COST ME SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS....I NEED GMC TO MAN UP TO THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT.*JB
WE HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON. SINCE WE'VE HAD IT, REDUCED ENGINE POWER HAS BECOME A CONSTANT AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MOST RECENTLY, YESTERDAY, MY HUSBAND WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE WITH HUGE TIRES ON THE BACK ONLY TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND US, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT, SERIOUSLY INJURED, MAYBE EVEN DEAD WITH SOME OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE HAD ON THE INTERSTATE. TODAY IS AUGUST 23, 2011. WE HAD THIS VEHICLE FIXED ON JULY 28, 2011, PAYING ALMOST $600 FOR IT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT SAYS ON THE TICKET THAT WE TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY, WHICH I BELIEVE INCLUDED THE APP SENSOR, AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY OF EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP. AFTER SPENDING $500-600, I WANT TO KNOW WHY WE ARE STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM ALONG WITH SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE SEEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ONLINE? GMC HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR WITHIN CITY, THE TRUCK DISPLAYS A WARNING "STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED, REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THE TRUCK WHILE IN MOTION LOWERS POWER AND BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD, UNABLE TO DRIVE WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. FORCED TO PULL OVER AND IN ONE INSTANCE THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE AFOREMENTIONED WARNING. TO DATE THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPLACED HOWEVER THE CONDITION RETURNED 1 WEEK LATER, UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. AT THIS TIME A SOLUTION TO THE CONDITION HAS NOT PRESENTED ITSELF AND THE TRUCK IS QUITE DANGEROUS AS IT MAY SHUT DOWN OR REDUCE ITS ENGINE POWER DUE TO THIS DEFECT THAT GM IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY. *TR
THE HOSES FOR THE REAR HEATING AND AIR CONDITION IS LEAKING AND I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED ALSO THE CLUSTER HAS COMPLETELY STOP WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND RESUMED WITH THE FAILURE RECURRING NUMEROUS TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK PRIOR TO THE ENGINE STALLING. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,600. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS STUCK AT 10MPH FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. IT WENT BACK DOWN TO ZERO BUT WOULD NOT REGISTER PROPERLY AFTER THAT. IT IS PRESENTLY STUCK AT 120MPH EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. I DID CONTACT GM AN THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICTS AND IT WOULD BE COVERED ONLY IF IT WAS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER THAT WAS BAD. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON I-75 WHEN VEHICLE KEPT STALLING HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITH NO WARNING CALLED GMC AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO REASON FOR IT AND THEY COULD NOT HELP. LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE BECAUSE IT TOTALLY SHUT DOWN HAD NO STEERING AND HAD TO JAM FOOT HARD ON BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP VEHICLE. *TR
AT 71,200 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY YUKON XL WENT OUT. I CALLED THE LOCAL GMC DEALER REGARDING ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED THAT IF I HAD SERVICED MY VEHICLE WITH THEM THEY COULD HAVE POSSIBLY MADE AN EXCEPTION. I WAS GIVEN THE 1800# TO CALL. AFTER CALLING THE 1800#, I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE MATTER. IN TWO WEEKS I WAS NOTIFIED THAT GMC WOULD BE UNABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY HELPED ME ENOUGH WITH THE SHAFT THAT HAD BEEN LUBRICATED SEVERAL TIMES AT NO COST TO ME. I REMINDED THEM THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT THAT HAD TAKEN TIME FROM ME TAKING MY VEHICLE EVERY 3 TO 6 MONTHS TO GET OILED. LAST WEEK I TOOK MY YUKON TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND ASK THAT THEY OIL THE SHAFT AGAIN. I WAS INFORMED THEY NO LONGER DO THIS BECAUSE THEY CAME UP WITH THE PART TO REPLACE IT LAST YEAR 2007. BUT BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTY THEY CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE UNLESS I PAY. YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WHEN I TOOK IT IN IN NOVEMBER 2007 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND GET THAT SHAFT LUBRICATED. THAT WAS ANOTHER GMC DEALER. *TR

WHILE TOWING OUR BOAT IN HOT WEATHER THE ENGINE STALLS/KILLS LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH NO POWER STEERING/BRAKES ETC. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE FAILURE, GM HAS NO FIX HAS KILLED 8 TIMES OVER 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. I WANT A FIX. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH ON A 102 DEGREE DAY, MY FUEL TANK WAS AT 1/2 FULL. THE ENGINE STALLED AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION, MAKING IT DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAY CONDITIONS. WHEN I SLOWED TO 20 MPH AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I LOST ALL POWER OF STEERING AND BRAKES. I EXPERIENCED "VAPOR LOCK" ACCORDING TO THE GM CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN WHO EVALUATED MY PROBLEM THE FOLLOWING DAY (UNDER A COOL ENGINE CONDITION).HE FOUND NO DEFECTS WITH A COOL ENGINE ON A 60 DEGREE MORNING.
DT: VEHICLE IS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 25-35 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF ON THE CONSUMER. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME DAY, WHICH WAS ON 6-24-05. THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON THEN THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER. THE CONSUMER CAN GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP BY APPLYING EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WHILE CONSUMER WAS STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT. LESS THAN 5 MINUTES LATER SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AGAIN. AFTERWARDS SHE WAS PULLING INTO A GAS STATION WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF THE SECOND TIME. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY. THE VEHICLE REMAINED THERE UNTIL 7-2, AND AT THIS TIME THEY TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WAS ON 7-3. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 30-35 MPH. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7-5. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE CONSUMER PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON 7-11. AND TODAY 7-12 THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND JERKING WHILE GOING 60 MPH. THIS PROBLEM WAS OFF AND ON UNTIL THE CONSUMER HAD STOPPED THE VEHICLE. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE BACK UP AND DRIVING 35-40 MPH IT STOPPED ON THE CONSUMER FOR THE FOURTH TIME. AND AS OF NOW THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALL REPAIRS WERE DONE BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP AS PURCHASED FROM. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. AS OF NOW THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE. *NM
