TRYING TO STOP SLOWLY AND ABS SYSTEM MOVE MY YUKON TO A POINT I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT HAPPENS WHEN I TRY TO STOP UNDER 10 MILES PER HOUR. ALSO 2WD DRIVE DROPS TO 4WD ON HIGHWAY AND LOSE POWER. THIS IS DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TAC MODULE AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
AS I SLOWED EXITING A FREEWAY ABOUT 35 MPH, I HEARD A SCREECH & A BIT OF LOSS OF POWER. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT INTO REVERSE FOR PARKING (LATER) IT WAS APPARENT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. AS I INVESTIGATED ON LINE IT WAS AN ONGOING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM DUE TO "LESS THAN ROBUST PARTS" INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. GM DEALER-SERVICE REP. JOHN AT ZUBOR AGREED WITH THIS AND TOLD ME TO CONTACT GM SINCE IT WAS, JUST OVER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT TOOK GM TWO WEEKS OR MORE TO REPLY & RETURN MY CALLS & EMAILS, WHEN OF COURSE I WAS TOLD A GM DEALER MUST DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM--VEHICLE WAS ALREADY REPAIRED AT THAT POINT BY MY OWN MECHANIC. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER FORM OF TRANSPORTATION & SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY I HAD NO PROMISE OF GM ASSISTANCE, I TOOK IT WHERE I COULD! I PAID $1850.00 FOR A NEW TRANS WITH WARRANTY. I WOULD NOT BE WRITING EXCEPT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM & THE GM TECH ON LINE SAID THERE WAS "NOTHING YOU COULD DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING SINCE THE INTERIOR PARTS ARE WEAK". GM TECH COMMENTED GM HAD BEGAN USING MORE "ROBUST PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT, BUT DUE TO HIGH LABOR COSTS (INTERIOR PARTS) HE SUGGESTED TO REPLACE TRANS SO YOU WOULD HAVE A WARRANTY". THIS IS ALSO WHAT OUR MECHANIC ADVISED. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY NEEDED TO BE FILLED BUT THERE WERE NO VISIBLE LEAKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CYLINDER HEADS HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
GMC YUKON XL DENALI -TRACTION STABILITY PROBLEM REGISTERS ON DASH AND CAR BOGS DOWN AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE IF YOU LET UP ON THE ACCELERATOR IT WILL SEEM TO IMPROVE - TOOK CAR TO MECHANIC AND HAD WHEEL SENSOR REPLACED DID NOT IMPROVE TILL RUST BUILD UP WAS REMOVED FROM ON THE SPLINED HUB IT HAS SINCE RETURNED - WENT ON LINE AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPRESSED SIMILAR PROBLEMS BUT DID NOT FIND ANY ANSWERS OF DEALERS BEING ABLE TO CORRECT - COULD BE A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WHICH COULD CAUSE REAR END COLLISIONS IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING TO CLOSE IN THE REAR SINCE THE VEHICLE NEARLY COMES TO A STOP. *TR
TL* CONTACT OWNS 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE VINYL ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE BETWEEN SEATS IS PEELING. DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 75,600 UPDATED 01/08/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE RIGHT AXLE WAS LEAKING. THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE ODOMETER WAS OFF. IT WAS READING 1 MILE FASTER THAN THE ACTUAL SPEED THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. UPDATED *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE FAILURE, WHICH HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO LOW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO DROP. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOT OF NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
WE PURCHASED A 2004 GMC YUKON XL IN SEPTEMBER ON 2004. THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL NOTICE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT PREFORM THE REPAIR. IN ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 27TH, 2004 THE TRANSMISSION BLEW AND THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO A DEALERSHIP LOCALLY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON THE BRAND NEW SUBURBAN, MY CONCERN IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP AND GM HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO REPLACE THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO SELLING THE VEHICLE AND THE FACT THAT THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE KNOWING THE PROBLEM EXISTED AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT SCARES ME. WE RUN A TRANSPORTATION COMPANY IN THE MTNS OF COLORADO, HAD THAT TRANSMISSION FAILED ON ONE OF THE PASSES WE COULD HAVE KILLED SEVERAL PEOPLE. THE DEALERSHIPS RESPONSE WAS "WELL THAT DID NOT HAPPEN DID IT" FROM RICK DUNCANS OWN MOUTH. WE HAVE DECIDED TO FILE A LAWSUITE AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP AND GM DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS FAILURE IN VEHICLE EQUIPMENT. *AK
I HAVE THREE SEPARATE COMPLAINTS: 1) IN DECEMBER 2004 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD CRASHING SOUND THAT CAME FROM UNDERNEATH OF THE HOOD OF MY YUKON. IT WAS APPARENT THAT SOMETHING CAME APART FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD BECAUSE WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND THEN PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY; THERE WAS NOTHING VISIBLE IN ANY OF THE FREEWAY LANES WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT I RAN OVER SOMETHING. WHATEVER CAME APART, YOU COULD HEAR IT BEING DRUG FROM THE FRONT, ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. IT TORE THE ENTIRE LEFT FENDER WELL APART, IT CUT A WHOLE INTO MY LEFT CUSTOM TIRE, AND IT CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE , ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD HIM THAT WE WOULD BE CHARGED FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. MY HUSBAND WAS ALSO TOLD THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO ENDURE THE COST TO HAVE THE LEFT REAR FENDER WELL THAT WAS DAMAGED FROM THIS INCIDENT. (2) IN MARCH 2005 MY YUKON'S DIGITAL READING KEPT STATING SERVICE AIR BAG. ALSO, IT DISPLAYED THE PICTURE OF A PERSON IN THE SEAT WITH THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS FAIRLY NEW, THAT HAS ONLY 18,007 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, AND NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH DEFECTS THAT THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME. (3) THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING GEARS VERY ROUGHLY, AND AT TIMES WHEN IT IS PLACED INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE IT JERKS VERY HARD, AND OTHER TIMES WHEN PROCEEDING TO DRIVE IT DRAGS AS IF IT HAS NO POWER. *AK
DT: TRANSMISSION; WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGES AND HITS THE GAS IT FALLS OUT OF GEAR, AND THEN IT MAKES A NOISE WHEN IT GOES BACK INTO GEAR. CALLER DOES NOT DO ANYTHING BUT TAKE HIS FOOT OFF BRAKE AND ONTO GAS PEDAL. IT DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME, BUT HE DOES NOT KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. DEALER SAYS IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIX IT. SO THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, AND THEY DID NOT RETURN CALL. CONSUMER CALLED THEM AGAIN, AND THEY SENT A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. HE SAID IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIX IT. ALSO THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF.*AK
THERE WAS MALFUNCTION IN THE POWER TRAIN DRIVELINE, WHICH RESULTED*JB IN THE TRUCK SHIFTING FROM 2WD TO 4WD BY ITSELF. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SERVICED THE TRUCK 3 TIMES AND REPLACED THE 4WD SWITCH AND THE TRANSFER CASE. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *JB
