THE BACK GLASS ON OUR 2004 GMC YUKON XL BROKE AT THE RIGHT HINGE AT FIRST. WE HARDLY EVER OPENED THE BACK GLASS, SO THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE. TODAY THE LEFT BACK GLASS HINGE BROKE. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A RECALL ON THIS, HOWEVER THERE ISN'T ONE. GMC IS AWARE AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM BUT ISN'T WILLING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. FOUND MANY FORUMS WHERE OTHER GMC & CHEVY OWNERS ARE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT CAN BE FIXED FOR AROUND $1000.00 BUT SINCE IT IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT ON THEIR END.....WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? PLEASE HELP!!! *TR
I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON XL AT THE TIME I NOTICED THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW, THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 45,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME,THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE IS THE HINGES HAS BROKEN AWAY FROM THE GLASS WHICH I TRULY BELIEVE IS A DESIGN FLAW.I HAVE TAKEN A STRAP AND TIED THE GLASS DOWN TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING OUT ON THE INTERSTATE,CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURY TO ANOTHER VEHICLE,THE GLASS ITSELF HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN OR DAMAGE BUT IT IS THE HINGES WHICH HAS SEPERATED FROM THE GLASS. *TT

TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE 2004 AT 45 MPH CONDENSATION BEGAN TO BUILD UP ON THE WINDOW, THE CONTACT TURNED THE DEFROSTER ON, BUT IT DID NOT OPERATE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC , WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE HEATER CONTROL NOT DIRECTING THE HEAT UP TO THE WINDOW. *AK
ON AUGUST 15,2005 MY HUSBAND DROVE TO PORTLAND TO ATTEND OUR GRANDSONS BIRTHDAY PARTY. HE STOPPED TO PICK UP OUR SON AND HIS FAMILY TO TAKE TO OUR DAUGHTERS. LEAVING THEIR HOUSE HE PULLED OUT ONTO THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES PER HOUR AND THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED OUTWARD AS IF BLOWN OUT FROM THE INSIDE. HE RECALLS THAT THERE WERE NO PEDESTRIANS OR HEARING ANY THING HIT THE WINDOW. THE DEALER AND GM HAS REFUSED TO PURSUE THIS SO WE REPLACED THE WINDOW. THE PROFESSIONAL WHO REPLACED OUR WINDOW SAID THAT IT APPEARED TO BLOW OUT FROM THE INSIDE. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN WINDOWS WHILE REPLACING THEM SHATTER FROM LITTLE PRESSURE. WE STRESSED TO OUR DEALER AND GM OUR CONCERN THAT THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK WERE NOT HURT.*JB
