THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOAD REVVING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH WHITE PLAINS BUICK GMC (358 CENTRAL AVE, WHITE PLAINS, NY 10606, (914) 368-2108) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A CALLBACK AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $7,000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE OFF FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE CONTACT CONTACTED JACK WINEGARDNER CHEVROLET (11001 MD-210, FORT WASHINGTON, MD 20744, (301) 292-6500) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR AND FUEL RAIL NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ADDED FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 244,000.

PERSISTENT "TICKING" LIFTER UPON START OF A COLD ENGINE. SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER UNTIL THE ENGINE FINALLY WARMS AND THE TICKING SUBSIDES. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IN BOTH WARM AND COLD WEATHER BUT IS WORSE DURING COLD WEATHER. WHEN I ASKED THE LOCAL GM DEALER ABOUT A SOLUTION, THEY DESCRIBED A POTENTIAL REPAIR; A BAFFLE MAY BE INSTALLED IN THE OIL PAN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF OIL DRAINING OUT OF THE TOP SIDE OF THE MOTOR. THIS INDICATES TO ME THAT GM HAS RECOGNIZED A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS MOTOR (THE 5.3L WITH ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT AND "FLEXFUEL" OPTION) THOUGH THE DID NOT OFFER TO PERFORM THE REPAIR FOR NO COST.
WHEN EXITING HIGHWAY COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT OR JUST BRAKING, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING OR SPUTTERING, WHILE STILL ROLLING WITH NO WARNING. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. NO POWER BRAKES OR POWER STEERING. THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF 5 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH AND A HALF AND TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I AM TOLD EVERY TIME "CAN'T DUPLICATE SO AS OF NOW NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO STEER CLEAR OF CAR IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES AS TO NOT CRASH. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. TOLD BY ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO, THAT SINCE NO CODE WAS PRODUCED AND CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, NOTHING THEY CAN DO. TOLD THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE FORUMS WHERE SAME MAKE AND YEARS ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE STABILITRAC LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET NEAR HOME. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY LOSS POWER AND I HAD TO LIMP BACK HOME. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, I'M TOLD THAT THE ENGINE HAS A COLLAPSED LIFTER IN CYLINDER SEVEN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW AN ENGINE CAN EXPERIENCE THAT TYPE OF FAILURE WITH ONLY 44.000 MILES. I CONTACTED GM AND THEIR STANCE IS REGARDLESS OF LOW MILEAGE, THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTEE. THIS ISSUE PRESENTS A SERIOUS HAZARD, BECAUSE A FAILURE LIKE THIS, IF OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC EVENT WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. NOT TO MENTION THE FINANCIAL BURDEN AS IT COST ME $3700 TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPAIRED. IN CHECKING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THE GM 5.3L ENGINE IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS MALFUNCTION. WHEN TALKING WITH A GM CORPORATE REP I STATED, I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW, OR DEFECT PART, BUT WAS BLOWN OFF BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTEE. WHAT HAPPENED TO STANDING BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT?
GRADUAL COOLANT LOSS OVER TIME WITH NO EVIDENCE OF LEAK FOUND. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE HEAD WAS POROUS. MY EXTENDED INSURANCE IS NOT HONORING THE CLAIM BECAUSE GM HAS A BULLETIN #06-06-01-019B. THE CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY HAS A DEFECTED CASTING MANUFACTURED BY CASTECH. WHY NO RECALL?
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ENGINE LIGHT IN MY DENALI COMES ON AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED TO A SLOW SPEED WHERE I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER DOING SO FOR 5 MINUTES OR MORE, I CUT MY VEHICLE BACK ON AND IT WILL DRIVE NORMALLY WITH ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. IT HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES, SOMETIMES 5+ TIMES IN ONE DAY. 74,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND LOUD TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE ON THE LEFT SIDE. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH AND TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP HAMBY IN PERRY, GA THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BUT I GOT A SECOND OPITION IT IS THE AFM LIFTERS A CAMSHAFT THATS CAUSING THE NOISE GM NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ASAP

EVERY COUPLE DAYS WHEN I START THE VEHICLE THE STARTER SEEMS TO KEEP TRYING TO RESTART AFTER THE CAR IS RUNNING I USUALLY JUST TAP IT TO TURN OVER BUT IT CONTINUE TO TURN ITSELF OVER ON ITS OWN CAUSING GRIND NOISE. STARTED THE MOTOR IN THE MORNING NOTICED A LIGHT TICKING NOISE COME FROM THE MOTOR. SOUNDS LIKE THE LIFTERS ARE TAPPING. THE NOISE USE TO ONLY BE IN THE MORNING BUT NOW IT IS CONSTANT. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSIS WAS INFORMED THAT THE LIFTERS ARE GOING BAD!!!!! WAS TOLD IT WAS GOING TO COST AROUND 3000.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY OTHER GM OWNERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN AUG 2013. HAD TO BRING BACK TO DEALER BECAUSE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS NO GOOD. HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK OUT REST OF CAR AND HE FOUND EXCESSIVE RUSTING ON FRAME ESPECIALLY WHERE REAR TIRE IS MOUNTED. *JB

ENGINE STARTED BY ITSELF WHILE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE. ENGINE WAS RACING. GARAGE WAS EXTREMELY HOT FROM ENGINE RUNNING. KEY WAS IN IGNITION BUT PULLED OUT SO THE ALARM WOULDN'T DING. DOORS WERE NOT LOCKED (NEED TO BE LOCKED FOR REMOTE ENGINE START TO WORK). OPENED DRIVER DOOR, REACHED FOR KEYS AND THEY FELL OUT IN MY HAND AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN BY ITSELF.
