DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HAD LOSS OF POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL WAS TURNING ON AND OFF. MOTOR STARTED WITH A LOUD TICKING SOUND. STOPPED VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER HOOD CHECKED OIL LEVEL GOOD, OIL PRESSURE FINE, TEMP FINE,SHUT UNIT OFF AND RESTARTED. CALLED TRIPLE A FOR A TOW. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND NUMBER 7 CYLINDER COLLAPSED ORDERED PARTS AND REPLACED. PULLED REST OF LIFTERS ON DRIVER SIDE AND CHECKED FOR WEAR AND REPLACED TO SERVICE. RAN VEHICLE FOR 10 MINUTES AND STARTED WITH A FAILED LIFTER ON CYLINDER #1. THIS MOTOR WAS REDONE BY GMC DO TO HEAVY OIL CONSUMPTION 25000 MILES AGO. YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO LOOK INTO HOW MANY AFM LIFTER FAILURES THERE HAVE BEEN. THE GMC SHOP I GOT MY PARTS AT HAVE A CREW THATS ALL THEY DO IS REPLACE LIFTERS
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN PARK, KEY TURNED TO OFF POSITION AND THE KEYS ARE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE ENGINE REMAINS RUNNING AND ENGAGED UNTIL THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED, THEN THE ENGINE CUTS OFF. *TR
MY 2009 GMC YUKON XL HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE "REDUCED POWER" MESSAGE. NOT ONLY IS THIS AFFECTING THE DRIVEABILITY OF OUR VEHICLE BUT ALSO THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY SINCE THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR AND MY WIFE USUALLY IS DRIVING IT WITH OUT FOUR CHILDREN IN IT. IT ALL STARTED IN AUGUST WHEN THE REDUCED POWER MESSAGE CAME ON FOR MY WIFE WITH SERVICE STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL, WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS "RODENT DAMAGE" TO THE THROTTLE BODY WIRING AND REPLACED THE CONNECTOR. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WHEN SHE WAS GOING HOME FROM THE KIDS SCHOOL. THE CODE THAT WAS SCANNED WAS P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILURE. THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS UNPLUGGED AND RESEATED AND THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY. ON 10/6 THE LIGHTS AND REDUCED POWER MESSAGE CAME BACK ON, TOO THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES "NO DEFECT FOUND" TAC CASE # [XXX]. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND WITH THE CHANCE OF MY WIFE AND KIDS BEING STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE OR BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WANT FROM A CAR THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! NOT ONLY IS THIS CAR DANGEROUS BUT ALSO A HEADACHE! I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT IF THE CAR IS NOT DOING ANYTHING RIGHT NOW THEN THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. WHILE DRIVING FROM GA TO LA ON CHRISTMAS EVE, MY YUKON XL WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND LOST TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTILOCK BRAKES. THE CAR ALMOST INSTANTLY DROPPED FROM 72MPH TO 45MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS ADVISED BY ONSTAR TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND TURN IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, POWER WAS RESTORED, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAR WOULD PROBABLY DO THE SAME THING AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY, ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WHICH WAS MONDAY DECEMBER 27TH. WHILE DRIVING TO A DESTINATION ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY ON SUNDAY, THE CAR WENT INTO REDUCED POWER AGAIN AND THE WARNING LIGHTS RETURNED. THIS TIME TURNING THE ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES DID NOT HELP AND POWER REDUCTION REMAINED. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, BUT THAT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AT THE FACTORY, SO MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I CALLED MY DEALER IN GA TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE PART, BUT THEY ALSO HAD TWO ON BACKORDER FOR TWO OTHER CUSTOMERS. AS A RESULT, MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND UNDER WARRANTY, CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE DRIVING GM VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 GMC YUKON. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 30-40 MPH, THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE RESUMED WITH SLIGHT ENGINE POWER AT THE SPEED OF 10 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES AND IT WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED POOR QUALITY OF FUEL WAS DISPENSED IN THE FUEL TANK. THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED; THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY UNIT WERE CLEANED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR.
