1998 HONDA ACCORD WAS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. AFTER LEAVING THE CAR, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A GUARDRAIL, CAUSING DAMAGE TO LEFT REAR BUMPER AND LEFT REAR PANEL. THIS OCCURRED ON 2/11/04. TWO DAYS LATER WE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA ACKNOWLEDGING IGNITION FAILURES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE SUCH INCIDENTS. WE HAVE CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY ARE "DRAGGING THEIR HEELS" TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COSTS TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING DASHBOARD LIT UP AND VEHICLE STALLED. *AK
I WAS NOTIFIED TODAY THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 98 HONDA ACCORD. THIS SEEMS TO BE WELL KNOWN BY REPAIR PEOPLE THAT 98,99 AND 00 HAVE TRANMISSION PROBLEMS. WHY WON'T THE DEALERSHIPS REPLACE THESE WHEN THERE SO MANY PEOPLE BEING AFFECTED BY THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON MY HONDA ACCORD WAS REPLACED IN 2002. NOW, FEBRUARY 2004, THE HONDA DEALER TELLS ME THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN.*AK
MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD WITH 61000 MILES ON ITS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS JOINED THE GROWING POPULATION OF ACCORDS WITH FAILED CARRIER BEARINGS IN THE FINAL DRIVE (TRANSMISSION). I HAVE HAD ALL OF MY SERVICE WORK DONE AT THE SERVICE SHOP WHERE MY SON IS EMPLOYED AS A MECHANIC. THUS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK I TOOK THE CAR IN TO MY MECHANIC FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A SEAL REPLACEMENT, ONLY TO BE HIT WITH THE HORRIFIC NEWS THAT IT IS GOING TO COST ME $2500-$3000 TO FIX THE FAILED CARRIER BEARINGS IN THE FINAL DRIVE! I'VE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM (KLEIN HONDA IN EVERETT WA.) AND WAS TOLD BY TREVOR IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE V-6 ENGINES, BUT NOT THE 4 CYLINDERS (MINE). WHEN I ASKED HIM TO HELP ME THIS THE EXPENSE HE RECOMMENDED THAT I CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER CARE AND WISHED ME LUCK SINCE I HADN'T HAD ANY OF MY SERVICES CONDUCTED WITH A DEALERSHIP. ALL OF THIS TOOK PLACE WITHIN THE LAST WEEK, SO MY CALL TO HONDA CUSTOMER CARE WILL OCCUR ON 2/9/04. IF I DON'T GET ANYWHERE WITH THEM I DO PLAN ON TURNING THIS IN TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND EVERYPLACE ELSE I CAN FIND TO LODGE COMPLAINTS WITH. WITH THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE OVER THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED BY A HONDA RECALL ACTION! *AK
1998 HONDA ACCORD EX- HAD TO REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DUE TO FAILURE OF TRANSFER BEARING. PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED AT APPROX 85,000 MI. HAVE RECORDS LISTING ALL SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE. WHY DID HONDA OFFER TO REIMBURSE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS IN 2000 - 2002 ACCORDS AND NOT EARLIER MODELS IF THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS WERE USED IN 1998 & 1999 MODEL YEARS?*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT IS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE WITH ANY KEY OTHER THAN THE ACTUAL VEHICLE KEY. SHE HAS STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH HER HOME KEYS. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STOPS ABRUPTLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND DRIVING OVER 10 MPH. IN 2004, SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V423000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY REPAIRED THE INTERLOCK SHIFT; HOWEVER, THE RECALL MENTIONED THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED INCORRECTLY AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED AGAIN FOR FREE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
WE TOOK MY 1998 ACCORD EX IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE (90,000 MILES) AND TO HAVE THE INTERLOCK SWITCH RECALL DONE. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE CAR, THE DEALER TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION - NO LEAKS IN THE GARAGE, NO STRANGE SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WE DECLINED THE SERVICE, BUT THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID OUR RE-MANUFACTURED TRANS WAS IN AND SINCE I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE (INCL. RENTAL CAR). I WAS SUSPICIOUS THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART AND PUSH THE ISSUE SO STRONGLY, SO I DID SOME RESEARCH. ON WWW.ACCORDFORUMS.COM I FOUND THAT OTHERS HAD BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. THIS TRANSMISSION CAN SUDDENLY FAIL DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH A BEARING (IN FACT, THE SERVICE WRITE-UP STATES "TRANS FLUID LEAK, TRANS MAY FAIL DUE TO DIFFERENTIAL BEARING GOING OUT CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK"). I THOUGHT THIS WAS WARRANTY FRAUD BY THE DEALER, BUT APPARENTLY THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THEY AREN'T CLEARLY EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM TO OWNERS, WHICH IS WHAT MAKES THE ISSUE SEEM SUSPECT. IN FACT, WHEN WE PICKED UP OUR CAR, THE DEALER WAS EXPLAINING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM TO THE PERSON IN LINE BEFORE US (WHICH IS WHY WE GOT SUSPICIOUS). IT SEEMS THAT HONDA HAS A PROBLEM THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO TELL VEHICLE OWNERS ABOUT, BUT THEIR DEALERS ARE PUSHING TO FIX IT ANYWAY. OF COURSE, THEY ORIGINALLY QUOTED US $1,600 TO $5,000 FOR THE REPAIRS. AFTER WE TOLD THEM NO, WE WERE INFORMED IT WOULD BE COMPLETED AT NO COST TO US. SOUNDS LIKE A STEALTH RECALL TO ME. (THEY TOLD US IT WOULD BE FREE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH NO DEDUCTIBLE THROUGH HONDA CARE. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I BELIEVE THAT EITHER.) WE'RE HAVING THE WORK DONE TODAY NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS ARE. I THINK OTHERS NEED TO BE INFORMED OF THIS ISSUE SO NO ONE GETS KILLED OR INJURED IF THEIR TRANSMISSION FAILS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T PAY FOR THIS WORK. *JB

THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THEY ARE NOT MAKING APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. RECALL 03V423000 SUBJECT: IGNITION SWITCH. *NM
I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 1998-ACCORD-LX (97000 MILES ON THIS ONE). TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED COMPLETELY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I GOT ALL THE REGULAR SEVICES DONE AT ONLY HONDA DEALERS AND THERE WAS NO INDIATION ABOUT THIS FAILURE. FOR NO FAULT, THIS THING HAS FAILED. I WOULD THINK THAT THE PART ITSELF IS DEFECTIVE, IN THE FIRST PLACE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FURTHER.*AK
VEHICLE STALLED, AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER HAD STARTED THE VEHICLE ,AND DROVE IT FOR 15 MINUTES WHEN THIS OCCURRED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO ANOTHER GEAR UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS CAUSED A BANGING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
I OWN A 1998 HONDA ACCORD W/ LESS THATN 60000 MILES. MY TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELEY DIED. HONDA KNOWS THEY HAVE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS / THEY RECALLED MY MAKE AND MODEL 2000/2001 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT ON INTERMITTENTLY IN MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD EX-L 4 CYLINDER FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF THOUSAND MILES. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME READING UP ON IT AND THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE REACHED THE CONCLUSION THAT HONDA SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE A 1998 HONDA ACCORD WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.. AFTER STARTIN THE CAR IN THE MORNING AS I DRIVE DOWN THE STREET THE TRANSMISSION REVS HIGHER THEN NORMAL WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND (DRIVING NORMALY) LIKE IT SUPPOSE TO SHIFT AT 3000 RPM BUT WHEN IT GETS TO 3K IT SHIFTS BUT THEN THE RPM'S JUST CLIMB FOR 1K MORE THEN THE CAR JUST LAGS A LIL AS IT GOES INTO SECOND AFTER THE CAR IS WARMED UP THAT PROBLEM DISAPEARS. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS WHEN SLOWIN DOWN TO MAKE A TURN AND IF NO CARS ARE COMIN I GENTLY STEP ON THE GAS TO GO (NOT COMPLETLY STOPED) THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPS AND THEN STUTTERS TILL 2K RPM THEN IT CATHES AND LAUNCHES THE CAR FORWARD. I HAVE TALKED TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY WONT DO ANYTHIN AND WANT TO CHARGE ME 4K FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I READ OF SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PAINT IS ERODING FROM HER VEHICLE. SHE CALLED THE DEALER (AMERICAN HONDA) AND SENT PICTURES, BUT THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE WEATHER AND ACID RAIN. HER INSURANCE STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE'S AGE. THE CLAIM ADJUSTER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S PAINT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH CLEAR COAT FINISH. THE ENGINE SIZE IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 176,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
UPON EXITING A PARKING LOT AT 15 MPH ENGINE REVVED AND VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD, AND WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, DEALERSHIP DIDN'T SPECIFY THE SPECIFIC FAILURE, THEY JUST SAID THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
ONSEVERAL OCCASIONS CAR WOULD NOT START WHEN PARKED ON INCLINE. AFTER A FEW HOURS CAR WOULD START. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT AT THIS TIME. TOOK TO DEALER AND HE INDICATED TO ME THAT IT WAS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEM. DEALER REFERRED TO EMISSION SPECIALIST. I HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AND RESET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED BACK ON AFTER A FEW DAYS, CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, HE COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. NOW CAR STALLS WHILE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK WHILE IN USE. I HAVE BEEN PARKING MY CAR DOWNHILL AND IT STARTS WITHOUT A PROBLEM. TODAY, ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS CAR STALLED ON THE ROAD. FOR SOME REASON I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE OF IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES AND DID NOT HAVE IT REPLACED.*AK

CONSUMER REMOVED KEY FROM IGNITION AT ANY POSITION WITHOUT CUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF. ALSO, CONSUMER LEFT KEY IN THE IGNITION WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND VEHICLE ROLLED BACK. CONSUMER WOULD TAKE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ONCE HE CHECKED WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE HONDA RECALL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE SHOOK. DEALER STATED ROTORS ARE WARPED, RUSTED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK *SC
I OWN A 1998 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN WHICH WAS BOUGHT IN DECEMBER OF 1998. LIKE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWN THE 1998-1999 MODELS, I AM HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CAR IS SERVICED WHENEVER THE TIME CAME. MY DAD IS A MECHANIC SO HE WAS ALWAYS STRICT ON MAINTENANCE. EVEN TIMING BELT AND ALL OTHER BELTS WERE CHANGED OUT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I THOUGHT HONDA'S WERE RELIABLE. THIS IS A 5 YR. OLD CAR AND ALREADY THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'VE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING. THEY GAVE ME A NUMBER TO HONDA OF AMERICA TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. THEY MADE A CLAIM AND CALLED ME BACK WITH NO HELP TO ME. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REALLY BAD ALSO, NOT MUCH HELP AND WERE RUDE. THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY IS OVER AND WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING. NOW MY CAR IS JUST SITTING AT THERE AND CAN;T BE DRIVEN SAFELY. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS ON ALL THE GEARS AND WILL NOT DRIVE CORRECTLY. AT A STOP, THE CAR WOULD JERK BACK TO FIRST ROUGHLY AND THE WHEN I ACCELERATE, IT SLIPS ON FIRST GEAR AND THEN FINALLY CATCHES VIOLENTLY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA OVERALL. THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE RELIABLE CARS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I'M ONE OF THE MANY WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THE PRICE FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION IS 3500. I DIDN'T EXPECT TO BUY A NEW CAR IN 98 AND 5 YRS LATER HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON WITH THE 98-99 TRANSMISSION. EVEN THE 00-01 ACCORDS HAVE NOW WARRANT WITH A 100,000 MILE/ 7 YR. WARRANTY. HONDA SEEMS TO KNOW SOMETHING WE DON'T KNOW AND I THINK IT'S A RECALL. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE. 98 ACCORD 4CYLN EX. ONLY 47,000 MILES ON IT. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND SLIGHTLY FROM 2ND TO 3RD. CAR LUNDGES FOWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE GEARS CHANGE FROM 2ND TO 1ST. PREMATURE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF THE KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN THE PARK POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK INTO A TRUCK.*AK
MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) HAS A MILEAGE OF ONLY ABOUT 50,000 MILES. OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAD COME ON AND I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH DELAYED AND HARD SHIFTING OF GEARS ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS . THE ENGINE CHECK CAME UP WITH A DIAGNOSIS CODE OF P740. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO DETECTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AND HE RECOMMENDED THAT I FIX THE SEALS AND DRIVE IT AROUND FOR SOME TIME. EVEN AFTER THE SEALS WERE REPLACED I STILL FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LUNGING FORWARD WHENEVER IT CAME TO A STOP AND IT WOULD HAVE A TROUBLE CHANGING GEARS (ESPECIALLY THE SECOND GEAR). THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVABLE CONDITION IT SEEMS LIKE A BIG SAFETY HAZARD AND A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALER WHO RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF ABOUT $4000. GIVEN THE LOW MILEAGE AND OTHERWISE GOOD CONDITION OF MY VEHICLE I CAN ONLY ATTRIBUTE THIS PROBLEM TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WHEN I DID SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF 98 ACCORD OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN FACING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION. I HAVE SENT A FAX TO HONDA OF AMERICA WITH A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROBLEM ABOUT A MONTH AGO BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANY RESPONSE. I AM EXPECTING HONDA TO TAKE A GREATER RESPONSIBILITY IN UNDERSTANDING AND RECTIFYING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS WITH SUCH SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. HOWEVER THAT HAS NOT HAPPENED SO FAR. DT: 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATES THE HORN DOES NOT BLOW WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS THE HORN WILL BLOW. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED IT WILL COST $800 TO FIX IT. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE KEPT STALLING AND THERE WAS A HEAT AT HER FEET . TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BLOCKED . NEITHER OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN FIXED. *AK
TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED AT 60,000 MILES. CURRENTLY, AT 103,000 MILES TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE (BALL JOINT FAILURE), CAUSING SUDDEN DECELERATION AND STEERING LOST. ALSO THE IGNITION KEY WAS ABLE TO BE TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND REMOVED EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SET TO PARK. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HONDA ISSUED A RECALL FOR BOTH PROBLEMS THAT HIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. *CB (RECALLS 03V423000 & 99V069000) *JB
CAR LUNGES FORWARD AT STOPS WHILE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. TRANSMISSION IS DELAYED WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO R OR D, SLIPPING WHEN ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED AND FINALLY SHIFTING WITH A JERK. SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ENGAGING WITH A HARD JERK AND SLIPS AGAIN WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. ON HARD ACCELERATION, TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS HARD AND ENGINE REVS, CAR FEELS OUT OF CONTROL. NOTIFIED DEALER OF PROBLEMS AT 65,000 MILES AND WAS ADVISED TRANSMISSION IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACING AT A COST OF $5,000. HONDA DOES NOT ALLOW DEALER TO REBUILD. DEALER IS REQUIRED TO RETURN ENTIRE ASSEMBLY TO HONDA. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY. HONDA'S REPUTATION WAS BUILT ON RELIABILITY. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IT VIBRATED, THEN ENGINE SHUT OFF. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM ONLY OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONSUMER FROM HAVING A RECALL PERFORMED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT AND THEREFORE THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. *JB

NOW MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND THE CAR IS VIBRATED WHEN I SHIFT FROM P TO N OR R OR D4,3,2,1. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA THAT I NEED TO REPLACE A NEW TRANSMISSION. I PERSONALLY THINK HONDA SHOULD TAKE THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY. I DO TRUST HONDA FOR THE REPUTATION AND I AM TRYING TO BE PATIENT BEFORE I AM LOOSING MY TRUST. I FOUND OUT ON THE WEB MORE THAN 1000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT HONDA'S TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT MY 98 HONDA BECAUSE MY 92 HONDA WHICH HAS 150K AND IT IS STILL RUNNING FIND. *LA
I OWN 1998 HONDA ACCORD UEX, AND I'M TOLD THE RAIL THAT HOLDS THE DRIVERS SEAT IS BROKEN. THIS MAKES SEAT BELTS AND OTHER SAFETY DEVICES USELESS AS THE SEAT IS ESSENTIALLY A ROCKING CHAIR AND UNSECURED. ON SUNDAY SEPT. 28, 2003 MY DOOR LOCKS FAILED, THE ELECTRIC WINDOW CONTROLS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FAILED TO OPERATE THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS (HOWEVER THE WINDOW CONTROLS ON THE INDIVIDUAL DOORS STILL WORKED) AND MY SRS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD THE IGNITION REPLACED AND IT CURED THE DOOR LOCK AND ELECTRIC WINDOW PROBLEM. THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT IS STILL ON. THE DEALER REFUSES TO RESET THE CODE FRO THE SRS LIGHT AND WANTS TO CHARGE A $88.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THIS PROBLEM IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE FAULTY IGINITION SWITCH AND SHOULD BE FIXED!
THE CLUTCH ENGAGED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF GEAR UNTIL VEHICLE DIED. BRAKES HAD TO BE APPLIED FIRMLY BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ERRATICALLY. CONSUMER WENT INTO WEB SIDE, AND FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM SHE HAD AS STATED IN COMPLAINT #8013574, FILED ON JUNE 1, 2002. ALSO, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDENLY ACCELERATION.*AK

MRS. KIMURA OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND PARKED. AS SHE WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL. THE CAR ROLLED OVER HER AND SHE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *AK IT WAS LATER LEARNED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY WITH THE TRANSMISION IN DRIVE . A RECALL NOTICE WAS FOUND ON THE NHTSA SITE AFTER THIS ACCIDENT DESCRIBING THE FAILURE.
THE HARNESS RESTRAINER OF THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT HAS SEPARATED FROM THE BUCKLE MECHANISM. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE THEY NOTICED THAT THE CHILD WAS HOLDING PART OF THE HARNESS RESTRAINER IN IT'S HANDS.*AK
THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE HILL WITH KEY OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH AND CAR WAS STILL ON DRIVE. THE DRIVER WASN'T INSIDE THE VEHICLE. RECALL NOTICE ON IGNITION SWITCH WAS RECEIVED BY CONSUMER 4 MONTHS AFTER INCIDENT. *LA THE VEHICLE ROLLED FAST DOWN THE HILL AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER AND CURB. RECALL#03V423000 *SC
