Hello, The ignition switch in my vehicle has never worked right. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership for a airbag recall and was told them about the ignition switch problem and recall. They said they would not do the recall and wanted me to call Honda. I called Honda and was told that I would have to pay for diagnostic fee before they would attempt any repairs for this recall. The Honda case number is 14383356. I refuse to pay a fee for what should be a free recall. If you could please help me with this issue I would certainly appreciate it. THE GREEN KEY LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTS FLASHING AND MY CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SOMETIMES MY CAR WILL NOT START DUE TO THE KEY LIGHT NOT COMING ON AT ALL. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL HONDA ACCORD'S. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE WIRING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE AFFECTS THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT REMAIN ON, WILL CRANK BUT CUTS OFF. HAVE REPLACED 4 SENSORS AND THE ALTERNATOR TWICE. ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE EFFECTED. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CUT OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY.

MY 2000 HONDA SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN 2010, RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SINCE THEN IT HAS DONE IT ABOUT 10 TIMES, A FEW TIMES WHEN COLD STARTING BUT USUALLY IN SUMMER WHEN AIR TEMPERATURE IS VERY HOT. MY MECHANIC HAS KEPT IT OVER A WEEKEND TO SEE IF HE COULD GET THE CAR TO FAIL STARTING, BUT NO LUCK. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT ON A LONG TRIP EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ONLY 129,300 MILES ON IT.

I BACKED MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN UPHILL INTO MY GARAGE, TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND STARTED TO GO INTO MY HOUSE WHEN I HEARD A STRANGE NOISE. WHEN I TURNED AROUND THE HONDA WAS ROLLING DOWNHILL TOWARDS MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE, IT STOPPED SHORT OF HITTING MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE BY SOME SHRUBS AND A SMALL TREE. NO SERIOUS DAMAGE HAPPENED. I STILL HAD THE KEY IN MY HAND AND WHEN I CHECKED THE HONDA THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO REMOVE THE KEY IN EACH GEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY IN EVERY POSITION. I TOOK THE HONDA TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID NO RECALL WAS ON MY HONDA FOR THAT PROBLEM AND THAT I HAD NO RECOURSE EXCEPT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ON MY OWN. I ALWAYS HEARD SAFETY RECALLS NEVER EXPIRED BUT I GUESS I WAS MISINFORMED. I LOCATED AN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V025000 THAT STATED HONDA ACCORD 1999-2002 IGNITION KEY INTERLOCK (THE KEY CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION IN ANY GEAR AND THE CAR COULD ROLL AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR). ON MY HONDA ACCORD 2000, I CAN REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY WITHOUT SWITCHING THE TRANSMISSION TO 'PARK'. I PARKED MY CAR, AND LEFT THE TRANSMISSION ON 'DRIVE'. THE CAR ROLLED DOWN THE SLOPE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR PARKED FEW YARDS AWAY. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL 05V02500 (IGNITION-PARK INTERLOCK) MATCHES EXACTLY MY CAR CHARACTERISTICS AND THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THE INTERLOCK SYSTEM. THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING, THEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, THEY MAY OR MAY NOT LIGHT BACK UP. WAS INFORMED BY A MECHANIC THAT A BULLETIN WAS ISSUED THAT THIS WAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH HONDAS. A LETTER WAS SENT TO HONDA ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. *JS
