2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE HAS DEVELOPED LOOSE WINDSHIELD NOISES (POP AND CLICKS) WHEN SUSPENSION IS FLEXED OR CHALLENGED BY ROAD UNEVENESS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 1000 MILES ON IT AND THE COLD WEATHER BROUGHT OUT THE NOISES. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS STRUCTURAL DEFECT AND SOMEONE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS. THE CAR IS NOT WELDED TOGETHER WELL AT ALL.
WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE, THE POWER BRAKES FEEL DEAD. THERE IS ALMOST NO "PLAY" IN THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING THE CAR TO CONTINUE ROLLING. BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT GO DOWN AND CAR CONTINUES TO GO INTO REVERSE UNTIL I PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES.*AK
I HAVE HAD MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX AUTOMATIC 4 CYLINDER VIN# [XXX] AT NALLEY HONDA IN BRUNSWICK, GA TO BE ALIGNED THREE TIMES. 9-23-03 HAD RECALL WORK AND PULLING TO THE RIGHT ALIGNMENT DONE. PICKED CAR UP ON 9-26-03 AND DROVE HOME (ST. MARYS, GA) APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES AND CAR WAS STILL PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS OFF CENTERED TO THE RIGHT. CALLED NALLEY HONDA AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE DIRECTOR [XXX]. HE SAID BRING IT BACK. 9-29-03 SECOND ALIGNMENT AND STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTED STRAIGHT. THIS TIME [XXX]. HALL GAVE ME A COPY OF THE ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS, BUT THE SPECIFICATIONS/TOLERANCES WERE LISTED FOR A HONDA ACCORD FROM 1998-2002. PICKED CAR UP ON 10-2-03 AND DROVE HOME. CAR STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. CALLED NALLEY HONDA AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE DIRECTOR [XXX] AND HE SAID TO BRING IT BACK AGAIN. 10-6-03 WENT ON A TEST DRIVE BEFORE LEAVING IT WITH [XXX] AND HE AGREED THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THIRD ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. PICKED UP CAR ON 10-10-03 AND [XXX] STATED HE AND THE OWNER OF THE ALIGNMENT SHOP DROVE THE CAR AND IT WAS SATISFACTORY. AGAIN I TAKE MY CAR AND IT STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT AS I AM DRIVING HOME. NOW THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A SHIMMY VIBRATION AND THE STEERING IS TIGHT AND JERKY. CALLED [XXX] AT NALLEY HONDA AND HE SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE AND REFERRED ME TO AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 10-15-03 AND SPOKE WITH [XXX]. AND GAVE HIM THE ABOVE INFORMATION AND HE SAID HE WOULD GET BACK TO ME IN 24 TO 48 HOURS. HE SAID HE NEEDED TO TALK TO NALLEY HONDA. ON 10-16-03 [XXX]. CALLED BACK AND SAID HE HAD SPOKE WITH [XXX]. HE SAID [XXX]. HALL AT NALLEY HONDA STATED THE CAR WAS SATISFACTORY AND SAID IT DROVE BETTER THAN HIS OWN HONDA. [XXX]. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. THE BRAKES MADE A GRUNTING NOISE, AND VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD WITH FORCE. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH TRACTION CONTROL. ALSO, BRAKES MADE A GRINDING NOISE. HOWEVER, DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF BRAKING SYSTEM THAT THE VEHICLE HAD. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, IN WHICH NO FAILURE CODE WAS FOUND. A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. *AK THE VEHICLE HAS HAD FOUR SIGNIFICANT BRAKE FAILURES WITHIN THE LAST 7000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *NM
NEW 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 - ABOUT 1 OUT OF EVERY 5 TIMES I START MY CAR, IT DOES NOT START SMOOTHLY. USUALLY TAKES A COUPLE OF SECONDS FOR THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER.
WHEN COASTING TO A STOP, AS I APPLIED THE BREAK, THE CAR'S ENGINE ACCELERATED. THE TACHOMETER WAS UP BETWEEN 3 AND 4, AND THE BREAK WAS NOT HOLDING THE CAR. I HAD TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, AND WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO SLOW DOWN. *LA
PASSENGER'S SIDE SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY CONTACT TO VEHICLE BODY. ADMIT A POSSIBILITY THAT DEBRIS STRUCK INSIDE EDGE OF RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. SHOULD NOT HAVE RESULTED IN SRS DEPLOYMENT. VEHICLE SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON FRESHLY PAVED SURFACE ROAD. NO ALIGNMENT PROBLEM DETECTED. MANUFACTURER ADMITS NO IMPROPER OPERATION, REFUSES TO REPAIR / CORRECT PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY. 1504 MILES ON NEW VEHICLE AT TIME OF INCIDENT. SAFETY EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION= UNACCEPTABLE. *LA
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MY GAS PEDAL LOCKED, THEN MY STEERING SYSTEM, FOLLOWED BY THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS SURROUNDED BY HUGE TRUCKS AND WAS TRAVELING WITH SMALL CHILDREN AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. I THEN REPEATEDLY SMASHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FORCED THE STEERING TO STIR ME TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE CAR WENT INTO THE DITCH AND CAME TO A FAIRLY ABRUPT STOP. WHEN I ARRIVED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BUT SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULD REPLACED THE WATER PUMP. I ASKED FOR AN ENGINEER TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND BE GIVEN A STATEMENT OF SAFETY BEFORE I RISKED MY LIFE DRIVING THE CAR. THEY AGREED WHEN MY BROTHER-IN-LAW ASKED BUT I WAS DENIED AFTER HE GOT OFF THE PHONE AND SPOKE WITH ME ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS 90 DAYS OLD AND UNDER A FULL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. *LA
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD HAS 13,800 MILES ON IT. SINCE THE FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPING, IT ALREADY HAD THESE REPLACED ONCE AND RESURFACED ONCE. THESE REPAIRS TEND TO LAST ABOUT 3000 MILES BEFORE THE SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM RETURN (VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND PULSATING STOPS AT SLOW SPEEDS). *LA
THE ABS SYSTEM SEEMED TO "OVER REACTED" DURING A PANIC STOP SITUATION, CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKING PRESSURE WAS BEING SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I FEEL THAT IF THE ABS SYSTEM HAD NOT ENGAGED AND BACKED OFF THE BRAKES, I WOULD HAVE STOPPED IN TIME. ALSO, ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WENT OFF, EVEN THOUGH I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OFF, BUT IF IT "THOUGHT" THAT IT WAS A SEVERE CRASH, WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAG GO OFF? I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO CHECK THE ABS SYSTEM TO INSURE THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP TO LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU. *LA
HONDA 2003 ACCORD IS EQUIPPED WITH A "DESIGN DEFECT" OF COSTLY AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL, FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT, DEFECT. THE LOWER "GRILL" ON THE FRONT BUMPER IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT ANY ROAD DEBRIS SMALLER THAN A 16" X 8" CONCRETE BLOCK CAN ENTER AND DAMAGE A FULLY-EXPOSED AND UNPROTECTED AC CONDENSER. IT IS CLEARLY UNPROTECTED FROM THE HARSH OUTSIDE ELEMENTS. THE AC IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SAFETY OF THIS AUTOMOBILE IN THAT TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD FROM ANY MOISTURE ON THE INNER SURFACE, THE AC MUST BE ACTING IN PROPER FASHION. IF A CAR'S INSIDE GLASSES "FOG-UP" WITH MOISTURE , THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO TURN ON THE MOISTURE WRINGING AC UNIT, REGARDLESS OF THE TEMP OF THE AIR, THE DEHUMIDIFIER EFFECT OF THE AC CONDITIONED AIR IS AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY. THE CURRENT DESIGN OF THE GRILL/CONDENSER LEAVES IT VULNERABLE TO BE EASILY DAMAGED BY A BIT OF GRAVEL AS SMALL AS A BB PELLET. THERE IS NOT ANY SCREEN OR DEFLECTOR IN PLACE FORWARD OF THE CONDENSER TO PROHIBIT ANY ERRANT ROAD MISSILES FROM DAMAGING THE CONDENSER THEREBY CREATING THE SAFETY HAZARD OF A FOGGED WINDSHIELD AND MORE, A SIMPLE SCREEN OR DEFLECTOR COULD AND SHOULD BE INSTALLED TO PROTECT THE SAFETY FEATURE OF THIS CAR.
THUS FAR, THE SULFUR ODOR FROM THE EXHAUST HAS NOT CAUSED ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS THAT I AM AWARE OF OR COST ME ANY MONEY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET EPA EMISSION STANDARDS AND, AS YOU MAY IMAGINE, I AM MOST ANNOYED WITH THE STINK. FURTHERMORE, AMERICAN HONDA SEEMS TOTALLY APATHETIC TO THE DEFECT AND MY DISSATISFATION. I AM HOPING THAT A POWERFUL AUTHORITY WILL PUT PRESSURE ON AMERICAN HONDA TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND RECALL THE '03 ACCORDS FOR REPAIR.
2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE EX V6 MT W/NAV. EXPERIENCED BRAKE PEDAL PULSATIONS AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. FRONT ROTORS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED TWICE, AT 7000 AND AGAIN AT 15600. THIS LOOKS LIKE A RECURRENT PROBLEM IN THE NEW GENERATION ACCORD'S. MUST BE FAULTY BRAKE/ROTOR DESIGN.*AK
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE ON MARCH 31, 2003. IHAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 14 MONTHS AND I HAVE 13,252 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS AND FRONT BRAKES REPLACED/RESURFACED 3 TIMES OR BASICALLY EVERY 3500 TO 4500 MILES. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS KEEP WARPING DUE TO FACTORY DEFECT. I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO HAVING TWO ACCIDENTS DUE TO FAILURE OF BRAKES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *AK
OIL LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. IT WAS DISCOVERED THE OIL PUMP SEAL,GASKET AND THE TIMING BELT WERE DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB *NM
HEADLIGHT LUMINANCE NOTICEABLY FLUCTUATES BETWEEN A LOWER AND HIGHER INTENSITY. THE HIGH BEAM IS NOT ON AT THIS TIME. HAPPENS USUSALLY WHEN CAR IS AT A LOWER SPEED AND SLOWING DOWN OR ACCELERATING. INTENSITY STAYS CONSTANT AT HIGHER SPEEDS. VERY ANNOYING. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DON'T KNOW THE CAUSE. ALTERNATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED, PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. IT IS SO NOTICEABLE THAT I'M SURE ONCOMING DRIVERS THINK I'M FLASHING MY HIGHS AT THEM. *LA
AFTER MY FIRST OIL CHANGE, MY VEHICLE LEAKED OIL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD A SUBSEQUENT OIL CHANGE AND DID NOT EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM. *JB
DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY BUT PASSENGER BAG DID AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER DID. I T-BONED ANOTHER CAR IN THE DOORS WITH MY FRONT END. *LA

DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A TIRE BLOWOUT ON 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE TIRES HAD A BLOWOUT WITHIN A COUPLE OF MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE CONSUMER HAD NOT TALKED TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. SHE TALKED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE WERE ROAD HAZARDS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FIRST TIRE ,SAYING IT WAS A DEFECT. THE OTHER THREE TIRES WERE CONSIDERED ROAD HAZARDS. THEY WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES THAT CAME ON THE CAR. THE CONSUMER HAS CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CONSUMER BOUGHT NEW TIRES TO PUT ON CAR. THE SPEED WAS ABOUT 30 MPH.*AK
THE VEHICLE (VIN:[XXX]) WAS PURCHASED ON 5/30/03. UNFORTUNATELY WE DID NOT NOTICE THE VERY SIGNIFICANT DESIGN DEFECT UNTIL AFTER WE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR. THE DESIGN DEFECT IS THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS VERY RESTRICTED VISIBILITY, PARTICULARLY NOTED WHILE DRIVING. IT'S AS IF "YOU'RE LOOKING OUT THROUGH SLOTS." AFTER MY WIFE HAD A SMALL ACCIDENT IN THE VEHICLE, AT LEAST PARTIALLY DUE TO RESTRICTED VISIBILITY, WE SOLD THE VEHICLE, FEARING WORSE ACCIDENTS IN THE FUTURE. ROTTEN EGG SMELL IN AND AROUND 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 MODEL. FIRST NOTICED WHEN PARKING NEW CAR IN GARAGE, THEN NOTICED WHEN PARKING OUTDOORS. IT HAS ALSO OCCURED TWICE WHILE DRIVING, TO THE EXTENT WHERE OPENING THE WINDOWS AND MOONROOF DOES NOT HELP. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000 MILES. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT A PROBLEM.*AK
I OWN A 2003 HONDA ACCORD WHICH I'VE OWNED FOR 3 YEARS WITH IN THE LAST 3 YEARS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES ROTORS PADS AND CALIBERS 5 TIMES MY BRAKES OVER HEAT AND SOMETIMES WONT STOP THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES TO HONDA AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT IM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR CAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF IM EVER GOING TO STOP EVEN AFTER HAVING TO HAD MY BRAKES REPAIRED 5 TIMES AND YET CAR STILL DOES THE SAME THING SOMEONE NEEDS TO RECALL THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. *TR
I TEST DROVE 03 ACCORDS THAT TRACKED STRAIGHT AND SOME THAT DID NOT. THE CAR I PICKED PULLED TO THE RIGHT, BUT THE SALESPERSON ASSURED ME THAT THE CAR COULD BE CORRECTED BY AN ALIGNMENT. BEFORE I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY CAR, I ASKED THEY DO AN ALIGNMENT, BUT WHEN I DROVE THE CAR UPON DELIVERY IT STILL PULLED TO THE RIGHT. SO I TOOK IT BACK FOR A SECOND ALIGNMENT THAT AGAIN DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON MY THIRD TRY TO DO AN ALIGNMENT, THEY FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT SAID THAT MY ACCORD NEEDED TO HAVE ITS SUBFRAME ADJUSTED. THEY DID THE SUBFRAME ADJUSTMENT AND IT MADE THE SITUATION BETTER, BUT WAS STILL MISALIGNED. ON MY FOURTH ATTEMPT AT THE DEALER TO GET THE ALIGNMENT RIGHT THEY SAID THAT MY CAR WAS WITHIN SPEC BECAUSE IT DID NOT DRIFT OUT OF ITS LANE IN UNDER 6 SECONDS. THEY SAID THAT ALIGNMENTS COULD NOT ALWAYS BE RIGHT ON NEW CARS AND I SHOULD ACCEPT THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS WITHIN SPEC. BUT IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT EVEN WHEN THE ROAD SLOPES SLIGHTLY DOWN ON THE LEFT OF THE ROAD, THE CAR STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. OUT OF FRUSTRATION, I WENT TO AN INDEPENDENT WHEEL AND BRAKE SHOP FOR ALIGNMENT (WHICH HONDA WILL NOT PAY FOR, SO IT WAS $60 OUT OF MY POCKET.) THEY WHERE ABLE MAKE THE CAR TRACK STRAIGHTER THAN BEFORE, BUT IT STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT, EVEN ON ROAD COMPLETELY FLAT OR SLOPING SLIGHTLY DOWN ON THE LEFT. THEY FOUND THAT THE SPRINGS OF MY CAR MADE THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE ON MY CAR RIDE 1/4" LOWER THAN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. THEY THINK THIS CREATES A SLIGHT PROBLEM THAT CANNOT BE COMPLETELY COMPENSATED FOR. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CORP. TO TRY TO FIX THE SITUATION, BUT I MIGHT BE OUT OF LUCK. THEY KEEP SAYING CAR IS "WITHIN SPEC". MY CASE # AT HONDA IS N012003-09-0500462. THE REPRESENTATIVE IS ANTHONY HILL.
THIS IS MY THIRD HONDA AND AFTER PURCHASING MY 2003 ACCORD COUPE EX MANUAL, I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA!! I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE MY PREVIOUS CARS HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS, THEY ONLY WENT TO THE MECHANIC FOR THEIR SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE AND OIL AND TIRE CHANGES. WITH MY NEW ACCORD, I HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS. IT BEGAN WITH A RATTLING IN THE REAR SPEAKERS, THEN THE SIDE SPEAKERS. WHICH THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX TO NO SUCCESS. THEN THE TRIM ON THE WINDOWS WAS BUBBLING, WHICH THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE. SOON AFTER I BEGAN NOTICING MY BREAKS SHUDDER AND WENT TO THE DEALER TO BE TOLD THAT "WELL MA'AM, THE PROBLEM HAS TO GET WORSE BEFORE WE CAN SEE WHAT'S GOING ON"! GREAT I HAVE TO BREAK DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THEY CAN FIX IT. LETS NOT FORGET THE RECALL ON THE INTAKE AIR BREATHER PIPE. THEN TODAY, AND THIS HAS SENT ME OVER THE TOP, MY CAR OVERHEATED. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ON THE RED-LINE FOR HOT! I PULLED OVER, OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED GREEN FLUID ALL OVER THE ENGINE. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO TOW IT AND TAKE A LOOK. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE APRIL (5 MONTHS) AND BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES. AFTER READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I AM AFRAID OF WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WITH THE SHUDDERING OF THE BRAKES...WILL THEY STOP WORKING NOT ALLOWING ME TO STOP AND BE THE CAUSE OF A POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENT? I HOPE NOT!! HONDA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS ASAP!!
AT 8000 MILES, HAD THE FRONT ROTORS TURNED DOWN. JUDDER RETURNED ABOUT 3000 MILES LATER, BUT NOT REPAIRED (EXPLAINED AS ROAD CONDITIONS). NOW AT 22000 MILES, NEED NEW ROTORS AND PADS FOR FRONT LEFT BRAKE. BRAKES WENT FROM ACCEPTABLE TO UNUSABLE WITHIN A 500 MILE TRIP. *LA
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 6SPEED. OVERALL, I FEEL THE CAR HAS BEEN VERY NICE BUT THERE ARE A FEW PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE NOTICED WITH THE CAR. CAR DEVELOPED A HIGH PITCH WHISTLE NOISE AT 1500 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION PER HONDA'S WARRANTY POLICY. AMERICAN HONDA WAS EXTREMELY CURT IN HANDLING MY COMPLAINT. FURTHER RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT AMERICAN HONDA IS CURRENTLY SUFFERING FROM A TRANSMISSION FAILURE CRISIS IN ITS 1999-2003 ACCORD, PRELUDE, ODYYSEY, AND ACURA TL/CL AUTOMOBILE LINEUP.
ON ONE OF MY VISIT TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAINT ABOUT MY THE BRAKES ON MY CAR I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FACT THAT MY CAR MAKES NOISE WHEN I AM DRIVING ON SURFACE THAT SHOULD NOT MAKE MY CAR SOUND LIKE THEIR DOORS ARE NOT PUT ON CORRECTLY. I THOUGHT BECAUSE IT WAS NEW IT WAS JUST A NEW CAR SQUEAK BUT WHEN I DRIVE WITH THE RADIO OFF I CAN HEAR THIS NOISE AND I CAN JUST IMAGINE WHAT IT WILL SOUND LIKE WHEN THE CAR IS NOT SO NEW. WHEN I DRIVE IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I LISTEN FOR THIS SOUND AND I DON'T HEAR THIS NOISE BUT AS USUAL THE DEALER CANNOT FIND IT. I WILL BE TAKING IN MY CAR FOR THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEMS AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME MAY/01/2003, THEY REPLACE BRAKE PADS. THE PADS ARE VERY HIGH AND THE ROTORS ARE THICK. THERE IS NO SIGN OF WARP OR ROUGHNESS THAT I CAN FEEL WHEM I INSPECT THE BRAKES AND I AM SOME WHAT FAMILIAR WITH BRAKES.
AROUND 5,000 MILES THE BRAKES ON 2003 HONDA ACCORD BEGAN GIVING A GRAB AND RELEASE FEEL WHILE APPLY CONSTANT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS. AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH THIS TRANSLATED TO A DEFINITE VIBRATION IN BOTH THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL. TOOK CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AT 7500 MILES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED .050 AND SHOWED SIGNS OF BLUING. FRONT ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED, NO CHARGE. PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED FOR NOW WITH 1,000 MILES ADDED SINCE THE REPAIR. *LA

I DID RECEIVE A CALL ON 09/09/2003 FROM A PERSON CALLED [XXX] AT [XXX]. I BELIEVE HIS LAST NAME IS SOMETHING LIKE [XXX]. I REGISTERED THESE MOST SERIOUS COMPLAINTS WITH HIM BUT NOT ONLY WAS HE EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE BUT HE ALSO LITERALLY HUNG UP ON ME. HE SORT OF LAUGHED WHEN I MENTIONED THAT I WOULD NOTIFY NHTSA. THE OTHER ISSUES INCLUDE THE BRAKES ON MY CAR WHICH POMPANO HONDA INTEND ON REOPLACING FRONT AND REAR DUE TO SOME INHERENT DEFECTS. I ASK THAT YOU LOOK INTO THIS AS WELL. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD LEAKS IN THE DRIVE WAY. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A WHOLE WEEK ON THE FIRST FIX ATTEMPT. FINALLY HONDA REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW ONE. NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THE VISOR BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID IF THEY INSTALL A NEW ONE IT WILL DO THE SAME. MY WINDOWS ARE STILL BEING SCRATCHED BY THE FELT LINING IN THE WINDOW PANEL. *JB

2003 HONDA ACCORD NOTICED PULSATION IN BRAKE PEDAL AFTER 1000 MILES. DEALER RESURFACED FRONT ROTORS AT 4600 MILES. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE REAR ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AT 9000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 14000 MILES. ALL OF THESE REPAIRS WERE DONE FREE OF CHARGE BUT DONE HESITANTLY. NOW THE CAR HAS 20000 MILES AND ALL FOUR ROTORS ARE AGAIN WARPED AND THE PADS ARE GLAZED. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE AND IS BLAMING THE PROBLEM ON POOR DRIVING HABITS. 2/3 OF THE VEHICLES MILAGE IS ON THE INTERSTATE AND IS NOT DRIVEN AGGRESSIVELY IN ANY WAY. *AK
