DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE SRS AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHE WAS CONCERNED IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER STATED THE SRS AND BOTH AIR BAGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUMES WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE OXYGEN SENSOR FAILED AND THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE SRS LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL 02V080000. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEALER ON 9-30-05, AND THEY DIAGNOSED CODE 15.3 (ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE) WHICH WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE CODE WAS CLEARED. THE CONTACT WAS CHARGED $110.00. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA AGAIN AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. HONDA SAID THAT THEY WOULD OPEN UP A CASE FOR HER TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THECONTACT'S V EHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THEREFORE, AND SHE WILL NOT RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT. *SC *AK
MOTOR OF LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR OF OUR 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX IS BROKEN AGAIN. MY WIFE TOOK IT TO PHIL BACHMAN HONDA IN KINGSPORT, TN TWICE. FIRST TIME WAS LAST WEEK, THEY SAID THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE ORDERED. SECOND TIME WHICH IS TODAY, PART WAS NOT COMPLETE (THIS WAS AFTER SHE ASKED YESTERDAY IF ALL THE PARTS ARE IN). IT TAKES AT LEAST AN HOUR DRIVE FROM SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA TO KINGSPORT, TN.*JB
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON FRIDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 16, 2005, AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 PM EST IN MY 2000 HONDA CIVIC LX 4DR SEDAN. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP STREET, AND WAS ABOUT TO ACCELERATE AND MAKE A RIGHT TURN. I STARTED MOVING AND THEN MY CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AND STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, AND THEN RESTART IT. HOWEVER, FROM THAT POINT FORWARD, I FOUND AS I WOULD BE COMING TO A STOP AND IDLING, THAT THE CAR WOULD WANT TO GO COMPLETELY DEAD AND STALL ON ME. I TOOK MY CAR TO OUR DEALERSHIP, AUTOSPORT HONDA, IN BRIDGEWATER, NJ, AND HAD THEM TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS IN NEED OF A TUNE UP, AND THAT THE WIRES LEADING FROM THE IGNITION TO THE ENGINE WERE DETERIORATING. I DECIDED TO LOOK MY VIN NUMBER UP TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS. I FOUND, BASED ON THE HONDA CIVIC LX 4DR SEDANS, THAT THERE WAS A RECALL MAY 16, 2002 (CAMPAIGN NUMBER 02V120000) FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPONENT, MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE RECALL STATES "ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED." THE RECALL FURTHER STATES THAT "WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." I BROUGHT THIS TO MY DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION, AND HE TOLD ME HE ALREADY RAN MY VIN NUMBER [XXX], AND THAT IT WAS NOT REGISTERED UNDER THE RECALL. I ASKED HIM IF THIS WAS THE SAME TYPE OF COMPONENT PROBLEM AS IN THE RECALL AND HE SAID YES. HE SAID IT IS MORE COMMON IN STICK-SHIFT HONDAS THEN AUTOMATICS. I AM BRINGING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION BECAUSE THE ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED IN MAY 2002, EXCEPT UNDER DIFFERENT VIN NUMBERS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE TIRES GRIP THE PAVEMENT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL APPEARS TO BE ELEVATED, CREATING DIFFICULTY WHEN THEY ARE DEPRESSED. THE RPMS RUN HIGH WHEN IDLING AND THE VEHICLE BEGINS DECELERATE WHILE IN MOTION. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SOON AFTER. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE FAILURE MAY BE CAUSED BY THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM OR THE ACCELERATOR MAY BE STUCK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 80,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
ON MONDAY MORNING, AUGUST 29TH, I STARTED MY 2000 HONDA CIVIC CX HATCHBACK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD EVER HAPPENED; THE CAR HAS 82,000 MILES ON IT. I CALLED CUSH HONDA ESCONDIDO AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE THE SAME DAY. THEY LATER CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THEIR COMPUTER SHOWED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE MANIFOLD ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CRACKED AND THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST WAS $1026. I CONSIDER NEEDING A CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AT 82,000 MILES TO BE UNACCEPTABLE. I AM AWARE OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. I LIKE HAVING THIS ITEM WEAR OUT TO HAVING A TRANSMISSION OR SOME OTHER MAJOR COMPONENT WEAR OUT. IT HAS ALSO BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS AN 80,000 WARRANTY. HOW CONVENIENT!*JB
FAILURE OF 2 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS IN A 2000 HONDA CIVIC, PRESENTLY ON A NEW 3RD SYSTEM. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 35,000. HONDA STATES THAT IT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT FAILURE.
DT: CONSUMER WAS DRIVING OVER GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE IN NEW YORK. VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, WOULD NOT STOP WELL. VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING., AND ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK. THIS CAUSED CONSUMER TO HAVE TO BRAKE MUCH HEAVIER THAN NORMAL. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO ACCELERATION AND HEAVY BRAKING. THE RPMS STAYED ABOVE 2000. SERVICED REGULARLY. IN ORDER TO STOP VEHICLE CONSUMER PLACED VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND APPLIED PARKING BRAKE.*AK
SYSTEM FAILURE WITH AIRBAGS. VEHICLE HAS A SELF-MONITORING SYSTEM (SRS) WHICH IDENTIFED A SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE AIRBAGS. WE WERE NOT INVLOVED IN A CRASH BUT WERE INFORMED THAT IF WE WERE THAT THE BAGS WOULD FAIL TO WORK. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO WARRANT AND I PERSONALLY HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS FOR MY OWN SAFETY CONCERNS.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE EVENING OF FEB 11, 2005, WE (WIFE AND I) SMELLED A BURNING SMELL, WE THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE,SO WE STARTED CLOSING THE SUNROOF AND WINDOWS WHEN I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. I LOOKED IN THE HOLE WHERE THE STICK FOR THE HEADLIGHTS/TURN SIGNAL WAS AND SAW FLAMES. WE QUICKLY PULLED INTO A CONVIENENCE STORE AND WHILE I TRIED BLOWING IT OUT (I HAD NOTHING ELSE AVAILABLE TO DO AND IT WAS STILL SMALL ENOUGH I THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE), MY WIFE RAN IN AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER WHICH PUT OUT THE FIRE. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME WHERE I DISMANTLED THE STEERING COLUMN AND DASH. THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD BURNED AND MELTED. I'VE ALREADY CLEANED OUT THE EXTINGUISHER RESIDUE AND REPLACED THE PART BUT THE ORIGINAL PART IS STILL AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. HONDA WANTED ME TO BRING THEM THE CAR AT MY EXPENSE (IT WASN'T DRIVABLE) AND WANTED MY INSURANCE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL/REPAIRS, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS REALLY POOR HANDLING OF THE SITUATION EXPECIALLY SINCE THERE WERE FLAMES INVOLVED. THIS CAR WAS ALSO COMPLETELY UNMODIFIED AND EVEN HAS THE ORIGINAL RADIO STILL INSTALLED.*AK
WE PURCHASED A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY IN FEB. WE WERE DRYING IN SNOW AND ICE ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER. THE VAN SLID AROUND AND WAS FACING A DROP-OFF. I HAD TO KEEP IT IN GEAR TO KEEP IT FROM SLIDING. I YELLED FOR MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN TO GET OUT!. THE POWER SLIDING DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN B/C I WAS IN GEAR (REVERSE). IN MANUAL MODE THEY WERE TOO DIFFICULT FOR THE CHILDREN TO GET OPEN. A CAR WAS COMING DOWN THE HILL OUT OF CONTROL DIRECTLY TOWARDS US. WE REALLY DID SEE OUR LIVES FLASH BEFORE OUR EYES. LUCKLILY THE CAR WAS ABLE TO SQUEEZE BY THE FRONT OF US. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THE KIDS JUMPED OUT AS I SLOWLY SLID FORWARD. AFTER THEY WERE CLEAR OF THE VAN, I PUT IT IN REVERSE, PUT SOME GAS TO IT AND SLID AROUND AND WAS ABLE TO GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. I DID NOT REALIZE BEFORE BUYING THIS VAN THAT THE POWER DOORS WERE DIFFERENT THAN THE ONES ON OTHER MAKES OF VANS. MOST OF THEM OPEN EASILY MANUALLY. PLEASE CONSIDER PURSUING A CHANGE. I AM TRYING TO SELL THE VAN NOW- IT HAS PRACTICALLY SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME.*AK
THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING FRONT END COLLISION. *NM THERE WAS A VIOLENT FRONT IMPACT COLLISION WITH ROADSIDE FENCING THAT TOTALED THE VEHICLE. *SC *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN UNTIL IT COASTED TO A STOP. THE DEALER FOUND NO DEFECTS NOR DID THEY DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE IGNITION DIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN GEAR, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED ON GAINING MOMENTUM. *SC
CAR WAS IMPACTED ON LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT, CAR WAS SPUN AT LEAST ONE REVELOUTION AND NEITHER ONE OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. POLICE ON SITE OF ACCIDENT SAID TO FILE COMPLAINT DUE TO IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH TO AND SHOULD OF DEPLOYED AIR BAGS. DRIVER SUFFERED NECK AND HEAD INJURY DUE TO HITTING DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. CAR IS AT BODY SHOP AWAITING ADJUSTERS TO DEEM FIXABLE OR TOTAL LOSS. *AK
INTAKE MANIFOLD CRACKED AND FUMES CAME INTO THE VEHICLE. CONTACTED HONDA. IT STATED THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK....ALSI REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, AND REPLACED A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. *AK
DT: FRONT BRAKES STARTED GRINDING AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES. THE CONSUMER PURCHASED NEW BRAKE PARTS FOR FRONT AND REAR BRAKES, ASSUMING THAT IF THE FRONT BRAKES WERE WORN OUT IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO REPLACE THE REAR AT THE SAME TIME. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT TO THE METAL BACKING. UPON REMOVING THE REAR BRAKE SHOES AND COMPARING THEM TO THE NEWLY PURCHASED SHOES THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE WEAR. IN EFFECT, THE CAR WAS ONLY USING THE FRONT BRAKES. OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN TWO FRONT END COLLISIONS WHERE THE FRONT BRAKES LOCKED, MAKING IT HARDER TO MANEUVER AND CAUSING IT TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD, EVEN WHEN TRYING TO STEER AROUND TO AVOID A COLLISION. *AK UPDATED 7/13/2006 - THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE WEAR WAS NORMAL. *NM
16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HIT A BRIDGE WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, TOTALLED CAR, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND BRAKES FAILED. PHOTOS AVAILABLE.*AK
2000 HONDA CIVIC EX, FRONTEND COLLISION INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, TOTALED CAR. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
IN FEBRUARY 2004, I NOTICED A SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC 3 TIMES. HE SAID HE DIDN'T SMELL IT, AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I RECENTLY BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO A NEW MECHANIC FOR SERVICING, AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE "EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED." I'VE BEEN SUFFERING SOME UNEXPLAINED HEALTH PROBLEMS, SUCH AS HEADACHES, LIGHT HEADINESS, AND FATIGUE, AND NOW WONDER IF THE SYMPTOMS ARE RELATED TO LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO THE EXHAUST FUMES. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED I CONTACT THE HONDA DEALER TO REQUEST THAT THEY FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO COST. HOWEVER, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE PART(S) IS ONLY COVERED UP TO 80,000 MI. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 82,000 MI. ON IT. AS IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR, IT HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED.*AK
WHILE SITTING AT AN INTERSECTION CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED AND CRACKED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE SENSITIVE FOR THE MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR. AIR BAGS COULD NOT BE DEPLOYED IF NON SENSITIVE. THIS COULD NOT HAPPEN DUE TO THE COMPUTER SENDING OUT THE SIGNALS FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAGS . DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON A CLEAR DAY. ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY CAR STARTED FISH TAILING, AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET BACK IN CONTROL OF THE CAR. MY CAR SPUN AROUND 360 DEGREES TWICE, CRASHING INTO A CONCRETE MEDIAN. MY PASSENDER SIDE FRONT & REAR BUMPERS AS WELL AS MY FRONT & REAR QUARTER PANELS WERE CRUSHED. THE RIMS WERE ALSO BENT ON THE FRONT & REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS WAS ALL THE RESULT OF A 2 BRAND NEW TOYO TIRES, ON THE REAR WHEELS, THAT HAD ONLY BEEN ON THE CAR 3 DAYS. THE NEW, PASSENGER SIDE, REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THESE TIRES WERE: P185/65R14. DUE TO THE HOOD & TRUNK BEING SHIFTED, THE CAR BARELY AVOIDED BEING TOTALLED OUT DUE TO POTENTIAL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE UNDERNEATH. *JB
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE CONTINUALLY WARPING. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND AM NOW ON MY THIRD SET OF ROTORS. FIRST AND SECOND SET OF ROTORS WERE EACH RE-MACHINED PRIOR TO REPLACEMENT. SPOKE WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THEY CANNOT VERIFY MY DRIVING HABITS. CAR HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, SO I USE ENGINE BRAKING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID OVERUSE OF THE BRAKES. AM AT THE POINT NOW WHERE I AM AFRAID TO USE THE BRAKES FOR FEAR OF CONSTANTLY WARPING THE ROTORS. HAVE DONE SOME INFORMAL RESEARCH AND APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH VARIOUS HONDA MODELS, NOT JUST CIVIC. HONESTLY FEEL THAT I AM NOT HARD ON MY BRAKES, AND BELIEVE THIS IS MORE OF A DESIGN FLAW ON HONDA'S PART. HAVE NOT HAD ANY INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM YET, BUT IT IS ADVERSELY AFFECTING MY SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS, NOT TO MENTION MY FINANCES.*AK
AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CORP. HAS REFUSED TO HONOR RECALL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2000 CIVIC, DESPITE THAT THE SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THEIR RECALL AND MODEL AND YEAR ARE CONSISTENT . THEY TELL ME MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE DESIGNATED SEQUENCE. THE CAR STALLS FOR NO REASON WHEN STOPPED AT LIGHTS, ETC. THIS IS DANGEROUS, AS ACKNOWLEDGED BY HONDA IN THEIR RECALL DESCRIPTION. *NM
I WAS PROCEEDING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THE FRONT LEFT TIRE OF MY CAR BLEW OUT. THE CONSEQUENCE WAS TEMOPRARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY CAR WHICH RESULTED IN MY CAR HITTING THE CURB AND DOING DAMAGE TO MY WHEELS. GOODYEAR INVESTIGATED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL IMPACT CAUSING OVER-DEFLECTION OF THE TIRE AND FRACTURE OF THE STEAL BELT PACKAGE AND OR LINEAR MATERIAL. AS I WAS PRESENT, CLEARLY THE BLOWOUT TOOK PLACE PRIOR TO ANY IMPACT OF THE CAR. GOODYEAR DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY.

PURCHASED HONDA CIVIC SEDAN LX IN 8/2000. TO DATE, THE CAR HAS CONTINUOUSLY STALLED OR NOT STARTED. BROUGHT TO DEALERS ATTENTION TWICE WITHOUT ANY ACTION BY DEALER. NOTICED THE RECALL NOTICE, BUT WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY DEALER OR HONDA. ON 4/18/2004, BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER AGAIN FOR RECOURSE. *JB
DURING VEHICLE INSPECTION DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE CRACKED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK
AFTER I REPLACED A FAILED BATTERY IN OUR 2000 HONDA CIVIC, THE CAR RAN ROUGH AFTER GETTING WARM AND STALLED TWICE IN TRAFFIC. WHILE NO ONE SUFFERED MORE THAN RATTLED NERVES IN THIS CASE, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. I SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND FROM THE DEALER AT A COST OF $162 THAT THE CAR LOSES TRACK OF ITS IDLE SETTING WHEN THE BATTERY IS REPLACED AND IT HAS TO BE RE-ENTERED. THIS INFORMATION IS NOT IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THIS IS BOTH A STUPID AND UNSAFE DESIGN, LET ALONE EXPENSIVE. CHANGING A BATTERY IS A COMMON AND ORDINARILY SIMPLE PROCEDURE PRACTICED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. I THINK HONDA SHOULD HAVE TO SEND WARNING CAR OWNERS OF THIS "FEATURE" OF THEIR CAR AND HOW TO RESET THE CODE THEM SELVES OR WITH INSTRUCTION TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER WHO WILL RESET IT AT NO COST. ALTERNATIVELY, HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RETROFIT THE CARS WITH NON VOLATILE MEMORY SO THE CAR DOES NOT REQUIRE SUCH SERVICE. I HAVE BEEN TO NUMEROUS MECHANICS AND FINALLY MAY HAVE FOUND THAT THE IGNITOR IS BAD. FUNNY ENOUGH I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE WITH HONDAS WHO HAVE REPLACED THEIR'S AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. NOW, I CONTACTED THE LOCAL HONDA WITH NO HELP! THEY TO CALL AMERICAN HONDA (WHICH I DID) AND APPARENTLY HONDA DECIDED TO RECALL "SOME" OF THE CARS WITH THESE IGNITOR'S IN THEM. I WILL BE MAKING PLENTY OF CALLS TO GET HEARD. I THOUGHT THAT HONDA WAS A STABLE NAME. DRIVERS POWER WINDOW IS SLOW TO GO UP AND FRONT SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR LOSES POWER AND GAS MIELAGE. GOES OFFF WHEN GAS TANK IS FILLED. I HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED GOODYEAR AQUATRED3 TIRES FOR MY HONDA CIVIC, ON JANURARY 24,2004. IN THE TIME THAT THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED UNTIL THE FIRST TIRE ISSUE, I HAD ONLY PUT ABOUT 1000 MILES ON THE TIRES. ON MARCH 13, 2004 I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE FREEWAYIN THE FAST LANE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT DUE TO SIDEWALL FAILURE OF THE TIRE. THIS CAUSED THE HUB CAP TO DISINIGRATE AS WELL AS BENDING THE RIM. UPON GETTING THE TIRE PLACED WITH ANOTHER GOODYEAR AQUATRED3, I MOVED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT, AND REPLACED THE BENT RIM WITH A NEW RIM AND HAD THAT TIRE AND RIM INSTALLED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR. ON MARCH 26, 2004 THE TIRE THAT WAS MOVED TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT, HAD DEVELOPED A TENNIS BALL SIDE BALLON ON THE SIDE WALL, LUCKILY I HAD FELT THE CAR START TO SHAKE AND PULLED OVER BEFORE I HAD ANOTHER BLOW OUT. RECENTLY I WAS IN A NEAR HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH MY 2000 HONDA CIVIC EX AND I HAVE A CONCERN WITH HOW THE CIVIC REACTED DURING THE COLLISION. I HAVE CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND HAVE LOCATED SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IN ADDITION, I KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHER HONDA OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND WERE FORCED TO PAY FOR THE EXACT SAME REPAIRS. "BLACK DEATH SYNDROME"--WHERE THE COMPRESSOR STARTS SEIZING UP AND SHREDDING THE A/C CLUTH INTO METAL SHAVING INTO THE A/C SYSTEM. A VERY KNOWN ISSUE TO HONDA TECHNICIANS AND CAN EVEN GET IT FIXED OUT OF WARRANTY OUT OF GOODWILL. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE BODY SHOP SAID IT WOULD TAKE 10 DAYS. 7/28/03 MY CAR WAS BROKEN INTO WHILE IN THEIR SHOP AND I WAS NOT ALARMED UNTIL 21/2 WEEKS AFTER THE "BREAK IN" INCIDENT BY THE DETECTIVE ON THE CASE. IN BETWEEN THE TIME BEFORE I KNEW ABOUT THE BREAK IN, I'VE SPOKEN TO THE OWNER INQUIRING ABOUT THE TIME FRAME MY CAR WOULD BE FINISHED, THE OWNER NEVER MENTIONED OF THE INCIDENT. WHEN I DID FIND OUT OF THE INCIDENT AND CONFRONTED STORE OWNER HE STATED THAT HE THOUGHT I KNEW. I EXPRESSED MY ANGER AND MENTIONED THE FACT THAT MY CAR WAS BROKEN INTO AND IF HE HAD ADVISED ME OF THE SITUATION, I WOULD HAVE TAKING THAT IN CONSIDERATION OF THE TIME FRAME OF PROLONGED SERVICE AND UNDERSTOOD MORE OF THE DELAY. THE OWNER SAID THE FACT THAT MY CAR BEING BROKEN INTO HAD NO REASON OF THE DELAY. MY STRUT BAR WAS TAKING BUT THE PERSON OR PERSONS WHO TOOK IT HAD THE TIME TO PUT THE SCREWS BACK ON, WHOEVER BROKE IN MY CAR ALSO TOOK MY BACK SPOILER, GAUGE CLUSTER, SPEEDOMETER, HEADREST, BOTH OF MY DOOR PANELS AND DOOR SPEAKERS, MY CONSOLE, AND SOME OTHER STUFF. MY CAR IS THREE TIMES WORSE THEN WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF. THE OWNER STATED THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THESE ITEMS IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO.
