TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT THE MOST DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE DRIVER SIDE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SLICK AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. SHE SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND A MILD CONCUSSION AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 53,379.
MY 04 HONDA CIVIC, FUEL DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT OPEN DUE TO THE LATCH NOT WORKING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. IT COST ME 160.00 TO FIX IT AND I BELIEVE ITS A DEFECT IN THE CAR. *JB
PAINT AND CLEAR COAT PEELING DOWN TO THE METAL. READ THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA DUE TO PAINT AND CLEAR COAT ON SOME MODELS THAT INCLUDE MY CIVIC.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING ON 2004 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPING ON CIVIC HYBRID SINCE ABOUT 30K MILES. I NOW HAVE 86K MILES. THE 1ST TIME I BROUGHT IT INTO MY HONDA DEALER IN SOUTH CHARLESTON WV THE MECHANICS SAID HONDA SAID TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TWICE TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY DID AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE OK. THEN AT ABOUT 60K THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND THE HONDA DEALERS MECHANIC SAID HONDA SAID THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND CAME UP WITH A "NEW TRANSMISSION FORMULA" TO FIX THIS. I LIVE OFF A MAJOR ROAD WHICH IS 45MPH AND ON A BLIND PEAK OF A HILL. WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS I NEED THE CAR TO MOVE AND NOT SLIP LIKE IT HAS IN ORDER TO AVOID ON COMING TRAFFIC. I NOTICED THE SAME THING HAPPENING AT 85K MILES AND BROUGHT IT BACK IN. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET THE THING TO REGISTER ANY FAULTS. NOW AT 86K MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT WENT ON AND I HAVE BEEN NOTICING THE SLIPPING GETTING WORSE. I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY GOOD UP TO 100K MILES BUT FEEL THIS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND COVER UP BY HONDA TO AVOID PAYING TO REPLACE ALL THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. I WILL BE BRINGING MY CAR BACK INTO THE DEALER OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. *TR
MAY 14, 2007, PURCHASED FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS "CERTIFIED" W/ 150 POINT INSPECTION TO INCLUDE SRS AIRBAGS; HOWEVER, A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE; DASHBOARD AIRBAG ICON ILLUMINATED; CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD "AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. AFTER LEAVING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT JUNE 23, AIRBAG ICON WAS BACK ON WITHIN A WEEK; AT THAT POINT MY INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH BEGAN REGARDING THIS VEHICLE; AND DISCOVERED OTHERS HAD SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY AND HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION TWICE AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CHANGED BOTH TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN SPECULATED THAT THE FAILURES COULD BE CONTRIBUTED TO THE STARTER CLUTCH AND VALVE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,716 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE HAD ON GOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, STARTED AS A JUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING BUT AFTER THE DEALERSHIP BURNISHED THE TRANSMISSION A FEW TIMES AND CHANGED SOME PARTS AS PER SERVICE BULLETIN BECAUSE THIS YEAR CAR IS KNOW TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION. THE JUDDER HAS NOW BECOME A HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND SOMETIMES WILL DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING THE CAR NOT TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. NOW THAT THE ONLY THING LEFT TO DO IS CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION HONDA SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I AGREE THAT IT HAPPENS ONLY OCCASIONALLY BUT IT IS STILL DANGEROUS BECAUSE WHEN YOU EXPECT THE CAR TO ACCELERATE AND IT DOES NOT IT CAN BE DANGEROUS. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR MODEL BUT HONDA WILL NOT DO A RECALL, I GUESS SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE.
2004 HONDA CIVIC CUSTOMER STATES THAT HER CAR WAS TOTALED DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE**CC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND DID NOT CEASE TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKES APPLIED, THEREFORE CRASHING INTO A METAL BARRIER AT ALARMING SPEED. *TR
I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO A HONDA DEALERSHIP TO GET MY LEFT FENDER REPAIRED. WHEN THE FENDER WAS REMOVED, MECHANICS NOTICED THAT THE BUMPER REINFORCEMENT WAS NOT ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE AND WAS TO BE IN NO ACCIDENTS. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE PARTS OUT OF MY POCKET TO HAVE THE CAR UP TO HONDA STANDARDS. *JB
DRIVER SIDE SEAR BELT DOES NOT RETRACT. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED BEFORE BY THE DEALER. FRONT MUD FLAPS ARE TO LOW AND ARE DAMAGES AND NEED REPLACING. ELECTRIC PLUG SOCKET DOES NOT WORK (LIGHTER AND CELL PHONE)
I DRIVE A 2004 HONDA CIVIC WHILE COMING OUT FROM WORK WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN PUSH ON THE GAS AND NOTICE MY CAR HAD SHUT DOWN, ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT JUST BOUGHT A USED CAR IN JAN THIS HAPPENED IN THE BEGIN OF MARCH. THIS WAS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPEN MY CAR WOULD HAVE THIS LATE CRANK WHEN YOU START IT. IT HAPPENS OCCASIONLY TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER SHIP AND THEY RAN A TEST ON IT AND THE GUY SAID THAT HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE WHAT HAD HAPPEN . *AK
HONDA CIVIC HYBRID 2004 MODEL CAR STOPPED BRIEFLY FOR PASSENGER PICKUP, OR FOR PUTTING GAS IN A GAS STATION, DOES NOT START FOR OVER 10 MINUTES AND THEN STARTS UP. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 OR 4 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. *JB
TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN 2004 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID AND HONDA REFUSES TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. DOCUMENTATION OF A FOREIGN RECALL WAS FOUND FOR THE VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION FAILURE WILL LEAD TO A STRANDED SITUATION WHICH COULD LEAD TO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. *AK
I WAS DRIVING IN THE MORNING COMMUTE AS USUAL, LEFT LANE, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. AFTER, SOME SLOW DOWN I ACCELERATED BUT THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TRIED TO SHIFT TO THE LOWER GEAR DID NOT WORK ETHER. I HAD TO CUT THROUGH TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC (BARELY MISSED A CAR) TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND DOESN'T RESPOND TO ANY GEAR (R, D, S, L). THE ENGINE REVS WHEN PUT ON ANY GEAR, BUT THE CAR WON'T MOVE. THE 2004 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID HAS AROUND 20,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN BROWSING CHAT ROOMS AND HAVE FEELING THAT THE DEALER WOULD CHARGE THE FULL PRICE FOR REPAIR, UNLESS THERE IS A RECALL. ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION THAT I GATHER, THERE IS A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT HONDA HYBRID CVT. *NM
FAILURE OF HONDA AMERICA TO FIX A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. CHARGING FOR DIAGNOSTICS OF FAULTY TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION SLIPS, JUDDERS, AND SEEMS TO BE FAILING. TRANSMISSION IS WORST AFTER THEY SAID IT WAS REPAIRED. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE AND APPARENTLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT AMERICAN HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE KNOWING THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WHICH THEY ARE AVOIDING TO FIX. MAYBE YOU SHOULD VERIFY THAT THE PROBLEM IS FIXED IN THERE NEWER CVT'S OTHERWISE DEATHS MAY OR WILL OCCUR. THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID, SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET THERE IS THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IF THE REFUSE TO FIX OR FAIL TO FIX, THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND BE FORCED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
I RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY HONDA PILOT. WE TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD THEM HOOK IT UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE. THE CODE "P1399" RESULTED. HOWEVER, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD TO CONTACT HONDA TO FIND OUT WHAT THE CODE MEANT BECAUSE IT WAS A GENERIC CODE THAT HONDA PUTS OUT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND ASKED WHAT THE CODE MEANT, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO BRING MY VEHICLE DOWN TO THEM TO PUT IT ON THEIR MACHINE: FOR $95.00. HONDA HAS CREATED THEIR CODES SO THAT AUTO ZONE AND OTHER REASONABLY PRICED PLACES CAN NOT ASSIST HONDA OWNERS. WE ARE FORCED TO PAY THIS OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT BECAUSE ONLY HONDA CAN TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLES. I DID MANY HOURS OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS "P1399" CODE IS QUITE COMMON, AS WELL AS THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE HONDA PILOT HAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT AND VTM LIGHT COMING ON AROUND 30-40 THOUSAND MILES. THE ENGINE MISFIRES, AND THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS "CHUGGING". IT SEEMS THE TIMING OF THIS PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT WITH THE WARRANTY EXPIRING. I HAVE READ THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, YET HAVE FAILED TO ADDRESS IT. IF YOU LOOK AT WWW.HONDA.ORG YOU WILL SEE THE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MECHANIC FAILURE. I WOULD LIKE THIS PROBLEM TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND HAVE HONDA BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE FAULTY PARTS. *NM
TIMING BELT FAILURE AT 26,450 MILES ON ENGINE STARTUP. *NM
THE FUEL GAUGE GOES CRAZY FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM. ONE MINUTE YOU'RE DRIVING AND THE GAUGE SHOWS YOU HAVE A HALF TANK OF FUEL. A FEW MILES LATER YOUR FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND IMPLIES YOUR OUT OF GAS. THEN WHEN YOU FILL-UP, THE CAR ONLY NEEDS A HALF TANK OF GAS. AS SOMEONE WHO DOES HIGHWAY DRIVING EVERYDAY, THIS CAN BE UNNERVING. SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAD THE PROBLEM SAID A DEALER SAID TO FIX THE GAS GAUGE WOULD BE COMPARABLE TO BRAIN SURGERY. TO GO INTO FIX IT WOULD PROBABLY CAUSE SOME OTHER PROBLEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED, WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH., A POLICE VEHICLE ENTER FROM A SIDE ROAD, CAUSING A COLLISION. THE IMPACT WAS ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, ALLOWING THE CONTACT TO IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN MINOR HEAD INJURIES. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH INJURIES. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT.
ON JULY 13, 2006 ON MY WAY HOME FROM A TRIP, I NEEDED TO REFILL MY GAS TANK. I PULLED THE FLOOR LEVER TO RELEASE THE FLAP THAT COVERS MY GAS CAP AND THE LEVER DID NOT WORK. THEREFORE, I WAS STRANDED 100 MILES FROM HOME BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT OPEN. THERE IS NO MANUAL RELEASE IN THE TRUNK. I HAD TO BE TOWED HOME AS THE AAA RESPONDER COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW TO DISENGAGE THE CABLE THEREBY RELEASING THE FLAP. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE HONDA MECHANIC HE IMPLIED THAT THIS IS A DEFECT WITH THIS DUAL RELEASE LEVER AND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING THIS PROBLEM REGULARLY. IT TOOK THE MECHANIC JUST A MINUTE TO DISENGAGE THE CABLE SO THAT I COULD ACCESS THE GAS CAP WHILE THEY ORDERED A NEW LEVER CABLE. I ASKED IF I COULD HAVE A KEY RELEASE FLAP AND MY REQUEST WAS DENIED. SO NOW I COULD FACE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. SEEMS LIKE HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EITHER RECALL THESE CABLES OR PUT A MANUAL RELEASE IN THE TRUNK OR SEND OUT A NOTICE TO ALL HONDA OWNERS AND TOWING COMPANIES LIKE AAA ADVISING THEM AS TO HOW THEY CAN DISENGAGE THE CABLE AND AVOID BEING STRANDED. *JB
I OWN A HONDA CIVIC SEDAN AUTOMATIC 4 WHEEL DRIVE PURCHASED BRAND NEW 2004 MODEL. FIRST OF ALL, YESTERDAY I NOTICED THE LIGHT ON MY CONSOLE THAT MEANT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK WHY IT WENT ON THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE MY PURSE WAS ON THE SEAT AND IT THINKS A CHILD UNDER 60 POUNDS IS SITTING THERE SO IT AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF THE AIR BAG. THEY SAID IT WILL GO AWAY WHEN I TAKE EVERYTHING OFF THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE LIGHT DID NOT GO AWAY AND WHEN MY SISTER WHO IS 130 POUNDS SAT ON THE SEAT AND DROVE WITH ME THE LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF, MEANING THAT IF I HAD GOTTEN INTO A CAR ACCIDENT HER AIRBAG WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED. SECOND, TODAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE 101 FREEWAY GOING BETWEEN 65 AND 70, THE GAS PEDAL BECAME LOOSE AND MY CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT EVEN TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN I TRIED TO BRAKE THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, TRAFFIC WAS BUILDING SO I KEPT TRYING TO BRAKE AND THE CAR SHOOK SO BADLY THAT I STARTED LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I THOUGHT OF USING THE NEUTRAL DRIVE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION OF MY VEHICLE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO MAKE THE NOISE LIKE I WAS HITTING THE GAS BUT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND PARK. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR ME THINKING OF USING THE NEUTRAL SHIFT, I WOULD HAVE HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD SINCE THEN. *JB
CONSUMER'S 2004 CIVIC PULLED LEFT. ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A SUDDEN JUMP. *TS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE'S STEREO AND GEAR SYSTEM. THE DEALER REPAIR THE LOOSE WIRE BUT THE STEREO'S SOUND IS AFFECTED WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE GEAR SHIFT WAS REPLACED. THE RUBBER SEAL ON THE WINDSHIELD POPPED UP. THE PAINT ON THE BACK FENDER STARTED TO FLAKE. THE BRAKE BEGAN TO MAKE NOISE EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *NM
TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHENEVER YOU TAKE OFF IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR 2 YEARS AFTER YOU CHANGE THE TRANS. FLUID IT STOPS FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES THEN STARTS AGAIN. I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE FLUID MORE THAN THE ENGINE OIL IT IS GETTING EXPENSIVE!!!! *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME AIRBORNE FLYING OVER A THREE FEET CONCRETE BARRIER, HITTING A ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEATBELTS WERE IN USE HOWEVER BACK AND NECK INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS POLICE REPORT FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IS AWAITING INSPECTION.
THE INPUT SHAFT BEARING OR THROW BEARING IN VEHICLE IS MAKING A LOUD CLICKING/RATTLING NOISE THROUGH ALL GEARS. I'M LEANING MORE TOWARDS THE INPUT SHAFT BEARING BEING GONE OR SHOT. A LOT OF TALK ON THE WEB ABOUT THESE GOING IN THE EARLIER CIVICS. MORE NOTICEABLE IN 1ST-3RD. I'VE FOUND THROUGH OTHER WEBSITES THAT THEY IS A RECALL ON VIN SPECIFIC HONDA CIVIC UP TO THE YEAR 2004. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY HANDS AT THE 3 AND 9 POSITION WHEN I REACHED OUT WITH MY EXTENDED INDEX FINGER TO ACTIVATE THE LEFT SIDE TURN SIGNAL FOR A LANE CHANGE. WHEN I FLICKED THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER DOWN THE FORCE WAS SUFFICIENT TO TURN OFF THE ROTARY LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH ON THE END OF THE STALK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES. IT WAS AT NIGHT EACH TIME AND I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED WHEN THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT TO FULL DAYTIME BRIGHTNESS. THE ROTARY CONTROL NEEDS MORE RESISTANCE. *TR
MY SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ALTERNATING BETWEEN GOING OFF AND ON AND STAYING ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AS IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND INITIALLY THEY COULD NOT LOCATE A PROBLEM. FINALLY, AFTER MY INSISTENCE, THEY PURSUED IT A BIT FURTHER(THE COMPUTER READ-OUTS SHOWED NO PROBLEMS) AND DISCOVERED THERE IS SOME PROBLEM WITH A SENSOR LOCATED IN A SEAT SO ALL AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED UNTIL THE PART ARRIVES. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT RIDING IN OUR ONLY VEHICLE UNTIL THEY GET THE PART TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK FROM THE INSIDE. WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED THE LATCH WOULD MOVE UP AND DOWN BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. FRONT PASSENGER INNER DOOR HANDLE IS CHROME PLATED. CHROME PLATING HAS BEGUN TO PEEL OFF AND HAS CREATED SHARP EDGES WITH THE ONLY REMEDY BEING REPLACEMENT OF THE PART. SHARP EDGES HAVE GIVEN "PAPER" CUTS, DRAWING BLOOD, TO A PASSENGER OPENING THE VEHICLE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD, BUT OVER MILEAGE FOR WARRANTY COVERAGE. DUE TO SAFETY ISSUE, WE BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD PAY FOR REPAIR AS THIS ALSO IS NOT A "WEAR ITEM". APPEALS TO HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE GONE UNANSWERED AND HONDA CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSES TO COVER. *JB

CO-WORKERS KNOW OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS DIFFERENT CAR MAKES THAT HAVE CAUSED BURNS TO OCCUPANTS OR ELECTICAL FIRES, IS THERE A DEFECT IN THESE DEVICES OR TREND OF SIMILAR REPORTS. *NM

DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN FRONT END COLLISION WITH SERVE DAMAGE TO CAR INCLUDING MOVING THE ENGINE, REPLACEMENT OF THE RADIATOR, FAN HOUSING, FT BUMPER AND HOOD. SPEED APPROX. 35 MPH. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO HONDA IN REGARD TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT. HONDA DEALER EVEN ASSURED THE OWNER ONE WEEK PRIOR TO ACCIDENT THAT AIR BAG WAS FUNCTIONING.

PURCHASED USED 2004 CERTIFIED HONDA CIVIC ON 5/26/2007. ON JUNE 12, 2007 I REPORTED THAT THE CAR HAD A HOWLING NOISE AND YOU TENDED TO CONSTANTLY HAVE TO ADJUST THE STEERING WHEN DRIVING. THEY FOUND NOTHING. SEPT. 11, 2007 REPORTED TO SERVICE THAT VERY ROAD NOISE VERY BAD ALSO POWER SURGING WHEN DOING 55 TO 60 MILES PER HOUR ALSO HAS SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THEY REPORTED THAT THE CAR HAD THE INCORRECT TIRES ON THE CAR. SHOULD BE LOW RESISTANCE TIRES AND THE SHUDDER WAS BEING CAUSED BY A BAD START CLUTCH. THERE WAS APPARENTLY A RECALL ON THIS PART. CUSTOMER NOT NOTIFIED REGARDING THIS. CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE TO NOTIFY SERVICE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM REGARDING THIS MATTER. OCTOBER 9TH. TOOK CAR IN TO HAVE START CLUTCH REPLACED AND 60,000 MILE WARRANTY WORK DONE. PICKED UP CAR ON OCTOBER 9TH. OCTOBER 12, TOOK CAR TO A TIRE INSTALLER TO HAVE TIRES CHECKED TO SEE WHY I HAD SUCH BAD ROAD NOISE. TIRES WERE WORN ON INSIDE OF TIRES AND WAVY. HAD ONE FRONT AND ONE BACK TIRE OUT OF LINE. REPLACED ALL TIRES. OCTOBER 13, LATCH TO OPEN LID FOR GAS WOULD NOT WORK. HAD TO CALL SERVICE DEPT TO MEET ME TO MANUALLY OPEN. OCTOBER 15, TOOK CAR IN TO HAVE CABLE REPAIRED TO ACCESS GAS FILL. HAVE HAD DISCUSSIONS WITH THE FINANCE ASST. AND USED CAR MANAGER REGARDING THE PROBLEMS. THEY HAVE ONLY AGREED TO PAY PART OF THE MONEY FOR THE TIRES. STILL ARGUING OVER THIS. *JB

I PARKED MY HONDA CIVIC IN MY DRIVE WAY; PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BREAK. 30 MINUTES LATER MY SON CAM E HOME AND DISCOVERED THE CAR RESTING ON A VERY LARGE DECORATIVE BOULDER AT THE END OF THE DRIVE WAY WITH THE FRONT BASHED IN - IT ROLLED APPX. 10 FEET WHILE IN PARK WITH THE BREAK ON. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED, AND WHEN THE DRIVER WENT TO SECURE THE CAR ON THE TRAILER, IT ROLLED AGAIN (IN PARK WITH THE BREAK ON). THE HONDA DEALER, RUSSELL OF SHERWOOD - SAID THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE AND THAT IT COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED - AND STILL INDICATE THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN - WHICH IT DID. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR (BUMPER AREA) HAS TO BE REPLACED. WE HAVE CONTACTED HONDA CORP., AND THE COMPLAINT IS BEING FILED IN ARBITRATION WITH OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED UNTIL THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN WHEN INSERTED IN THE DOOR LOCK. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. IN ADDITION, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE TRUNK AND IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE DOOR LOCK CYLINDERS REPLACED. THE IGNITION KEY CYLINDER WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
BALL BEARINGS ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS FAILED. CAUSED NOISE WHEN DRIVEN, WHEN VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THIS NORMALLY SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, IT WAS JUST A PART THAT HAPPENED TO FAIL. PAID $722.20 TO HAVE PARTS REPLACED.
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER DOOR OF MY 04 HONDA CIVIC COUPE FAILED, ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND HONDA REPLACED THEM. HONDA CLAIMS IT WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE AND FAILED TO GIVE ME MORE DETAILS AS I HAD REQUESTED. FOR THE PERIOD WHEN THE ACTUATORS WERE INOPERABLE I WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR WITH THE POWER LOCKS AND HAD TO OPEN THE DOORS MANUALLY BY EITHER THE KEY OR PULLING THE LOCK UP FROM THE INTERIOR. THE FAILURES BOTH OCCURRED ON A DAY WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMP REACHED 90 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, AND WERE RESOLVED ON COLD NIGHTS, HOWEVER, RESUMED DURING THE HOT DAYTIME HOURS. **NM

ANYWAY, I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP FOR MY 5,000 MILE CHECK UP AND THE GUY THERE AT HONDA DEALER SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WELL, I WAS DRIVING UP THE CA I 5, STOPPED OVER AND PULLED IN, IN FRONT OF A 7/11 AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND I PULLED UP TO THE CEMENT STOP, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LURCHED AT A HIGH SPEED THREE TIMES, AND I WAS TRYING TO BRAKE IT TO MAKE IT QUIT AND IT WOULDN'T QUIT OR BRAKE. MY CAR BASHED IN THE WINDOW OF THE 7/11 AND MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS.....IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. HOWEVER, HONDA DEALER IS SAYING THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS A STAGGERING MOTION WAS OBSERVED IN THE REAR AXLE. ON ANOTHER DAY DURING RAIN, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT HOWEVER AFTER ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE WAS PERFORMED THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, A PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED IN THE REAR AXLE TORSION BAR, WHICH WAS CORRECTED INSTALLING A WEDGE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE DEALER FOR NEW TIRES AND ALIGNMENT, IT BECAME OUT OF ALIGNMENT AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ALIGNMENT PERFORMED AT THE TIRE DEALER WAS DONE INCORRECTLY AND THEY PERFORMED ANOTHER ALIGNMENT.

AT APPROXIMATLY 3PM, SUNDAY AFTERNOON, I WASHED MY HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. WHEN THE COLD WATER HIT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. THE HONDA DEALER EXAMINED THE CRACK THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND DID NOT FIND ANY STONE DAMAGE. BUT, THE FACTORY REP INDICATES THAT SINCE THERE IS 33,000 MILES ON TEH CAR AND IT IS MORE THAN ONE YEAR OLD, HONDA WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY REPLACEMENT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND NOT HE RESULT OF PRIOR DAMAGE.

I BOUGHT MY 2004 CIVIC LX 2 DOOR, THINKING THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE THE PROBLEMS OF A USED CAR I WAS CERTAINLY WRONG. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS THAT I NEVER RECEIVED A COPY OF OR SIGNED THE PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION CHECK LIST. I HAD MY CAR UP TO THE DEALERSHIP AT JUST OVER 3,000 MILES FOR ITS FIRST ALIGNMENT. THEN, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING. SOMETIMES IT WOULD START AND SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T. IT DIDN'T DEPEND ON THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE OR THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE CAR. SOMETIMES WHEN IT WOULD START, IT WOULD CRANK OUT AS IF I WAS LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH TOO FAST. BUT ON MANY ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WOULD CRANK, BUT WOULD NEVER TURN OVER OR FIRE. HAD THE CAR UP TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN FOR THE STARTING PROBLEM , BUT THEY SAID SINCE THERE WEREN'T ANY ERROR CODES, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO THE CAR SEEMED FINE. MY LATEST PROBLEM; AT JUST OVER 9,000 MILES, I JUST HAD MY FRONT LEFT WHEEL BEARING REPLACED.! ONCE AGAIN MY ALIGNMENT WAS DONE. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BUT WHAT IS GOING TO GO WRONG NEXT??? I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND A HONDA TO ANYONE I KNOW.*AK
