ON MARCH 2,2005, I HAD A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE PERFORMED ON MY 2003 HONDA CRV EX ( 27000 MILES) AT SACCUCCI HONDA IN MIDDLETOWN ,RI . UPON NEXT STARTUP (FOUR DAYS LATER) , MY WIFE NOTICED A OIL & SMOKE SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW MILES. THE SMOKE WAS APPARENTLY FROM OIL DRIPPED ONTO THE TAIL PIPE. THE OIL ALSO DRIPPED ONTO MY GARAGE FLOOR. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP WITH THIS SAME ISSUE ( SEE ODI ID NUMBER 10090704). NOT SURE IF THIS IS FRESH OIL OR OLD OIL SPILT DURING CHANGE. DEALER IS CLEANING FRAME RAIL. *AK
HAVING TO REPLACING A STRUT ASSEMBLY IN A HONDA CRV 2003 THAT I BROUGHT NEW. AND ALSO TOLD THAT THE BEARINGS IN THIS VEHICLE IS A COMMON PROBLEM. *NM
THE CONSUMER'S WAS INVOLVED IN AN FRONT IMPACT ACCIDENT AT 30 MPH, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER. *AK THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE DRIVER. *SC *JB
FROM DAY 1 MY BRAKES DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. I HAD A VERY BAD VIBRATION IN MY BRAKES FROM PROBABLY 15,000 MI. AT APPROXIMATELY 17,000MI THE DEALER MACHINED OR TURNED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS. NOW AGAIN AT 35,000MI THE VIBRATION IN MY BRAKES ARE BACK. DEALER WANTED TO MACHINE AND TURN THE ROTORS ONCE MORE, BUT WE ARGUED THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL,A ND THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THEM AT 35,600MI. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE A LOT MORE HONDA OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED HONDAS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. *JB
WINDSHIELD WAS HIT BY A SOCCER BALL, AND CRACKED IMMEDIATELY. *NM
THE REAR CENTER PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE BLOCKS ACCESS TO THE REAR PASSENGER BUCKLE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA AMERICA TO CHANGE THIS DESIGN AND THE DEALER'S ANSWER WAS, "UNABLE TO RELOCATE BUCKLES FOR PROPER OPERATION." BASICALLY THE REAR PASSENGER HAS TO RIDE WITHOUT SEAT BELT PROTECTION IF THERE IS A REAR CENTER PASSENGER. *NM
RECALL CAMPAIGN' CRV-V SRS CABLE REEL CONNECTOR. CONSUMER FEEL HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE SERVICE BACK HOME AND TO PICK UP CAR. *BF
WHILE DRIVING IN A FOG CONVOY AT ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR, AFTER ABOUT 15 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO "JERK" DURING DOWNSHIFTING AND "HANG" DURING UPSHIFTING.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT AN ENGINE. PROBLEM. VEHICLE BEGAN LEAKING OIL, AND CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT REPAIRS WOULD BE PAID BY THE CONSUMER. *AK
'RECALL CAMPAIGN' CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL FOR SRS CABLE REEL AND CR-V SHIFT CABLE UPDATE. *BF THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS LEAKING IN THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE MANY OCCASIONS IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE NO OIL. THE VEHICLE WOULD BURN OIL EVERY 500 MILES OR LESS. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A NEW ENGINE OR A NEW VEHICLE DUE TO HER FEAR THAT OIL MAY DRIP AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE. THE PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME. *SC *JB
VEHICLE IS LEAKING OIL EXCESSIVELY OUT OF THE ENGINE, ESPECIALLY AFTER OIL CHANGES. TAKEN TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE CAUSE IS STILL UNDETERMINED.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAS SPOKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN REFERENCE TO THE OIL LEAKING ON DRIVEWAY SEVERAL DAYS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE REMAINS WET WITH OIL. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE IS DIFFICULTY GAINING ACCESS TO THE OIL FILTER AND REMOVING IT WITHOUT SPILLING THE OIL. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TC
THE CONSUMER AND HIS WIFE WERE INVOLVED IN TWO SEPARATE ACCIDENTS IN THEIR 2003 HONDA CRV AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN THE LAST ACCIDENT. RECALL CAMPAIGN# 04V255000. *SC *JB
THE CONSUMER NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK OIL WAS BURNIG EVERY 500 MILES. *SC *JB
COMPLAINT CONCERNING OIL LEAKED ALL OVER DRIVEWAY AFTER OIL CHANGE. WORRIED ABOUT FIRES CAUSED BY OIL FILTER PROBLEM. * BF WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE THE CONSUMER NOTICED A U SHAPED METAL MEMBER LOCATED DIRECTLY BELOW THE OIL FILTER. WHEN THE OIL FILTER WAS REMOVED THE OIL SPLASHES OVER THIS MEMBER AS WELL AS OTHER STRUCTURAL MEMBERS. *TC
HONDA CR-V 4WD, AUTO, 2003 WITH 25000 M. INCIDENTS - AS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED FROM UP GEAR TO 1ST, THERE WAS A "JERK" AND I ALMOST HIT VEHICLE UP FRONT MY DURING THE WET WEATHER CONDITION. AFTER THAT I MADE TESTING ON PARKING LOT, THAT I CAN REPRODUCE THIS JERK, AND IT REPRODUCIBLE. I DRIVE CAR SLOW ON FIRST GEAR AND SLOWLY PUSH A BRAKE, NOT ANY JERK. BUT WHEN I LET CAR TO SHIFT TO UP A SECOND AND THIRD GEAR AND THAN GENTLY TO PUSH BRAKE, BEFORE CAR COMPLETELY STOP I FEELING A JERK, THAT VERY DANGEROUSLY ON WET SURFACE. ALSO I FOUND IN SEVERAL FORUMS, THAT PEOPLE GOT ROLL OVER AND THINKING THAT CASE OF ABS OR BRAKE PROBLEM, BUT A SAME EFFECT CAN BE CASE WHEN GEARS UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTED DOWN.*AK
2003 HONDA CRV, ANN MORRIS DRIVING TO WORK ALONE, APPROXIMATELY 7.30AM, SMELT A GAS TYPE SMELL IN SIDE CAR AND THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD. IMMEDIATELY ANN PULL OF THE ROAD INTO A NEAR BY K-MART PLAZA. ANN THEN CALLED AAA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE CRV WAS TAKEN BY A AAA AGENT TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER, LANIER HONDA, NEAR BUFORD, GA. HONDA FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE, ONLY A LEAKY OIL FILTER. THE CRV OIL WAS CHANGED IN JULY AT THE WALMART IN SUWANEE, GA. THIS WAS THE SECOND OIL CHANGE, AT THE SAME WALMART. IT WAS NOTICED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FOLLOWING THE SECOND OIL CHANGE WITH OIL STAINS UNDER THE CAR IN THE GARAGE, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE 2ND OIL CHANGE, BUT THE IT STOPPED OR SEEMED TOO. I WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH HONDA AS MY WIFE AND I ARE SERIOUSLY CONCERNED. ALTHOUGH MY WIFE ONLY SAW SMOKE, THERE IS NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE!!!*AK THE SUITUATION MAKE US WERE NERVOUS... CONCERNED WITH RECENT REPORTS OF FIRES ASSOCIATED WITH 2003 VEHICLE8N`SUGEST NHTSA REOPEN INVESTIGATION POSSIBLE DESIGN FLAW OF VEHICLE. *BF CONSUMERS RESPONDED TO AN ARTICLE IN THE NEW YORK TIMES IN REFERENCE TO FIRES THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN VEHICLES LIKE THE VEHICLE THEY OWN. THEY FOUND 80 CRV'S NATIONWIDE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING FILL UP WITH SMOKE LEAVING JUST MOMENTS FOR PASSENGERS TO ESCAPE BEFORE THE CARS WERE ENGULFED INTO FLAMES AND DESTROYED. *TC
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE OIL WAS CHANGED ON YESTERDAY. THE CONSUMER WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *JB
VEHICLE IS LEAKING OIL WHENEVER IT IS PARKED. HOWEVER, THE OIL LEAK GETS WORSE WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.*AK......VEHICLE WAS SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL FROM OIL FILTER. DEALING DID NOT IDENTIFY CAUSE, BUT TOLD CONSUMER TO LOOK FOR OIL LEAKS. *AK
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY (5-10 MPH), THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD CRACKING NOISE AND NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL WAS LEANING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
BOUGHT NEW HONDA CRV IN MAY OF 2004. ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2004 WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT BURST INTO FLAMES. IT ONLY HAD 6,500 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. HONDA WILL NOT CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY AND SAID THAT IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN THE VEHICLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ENGINE BEGAN TO PRODUCE THICK BLACK SMOKE. DEALER STATED THE OIL PLUG WAS MISSING, AND ALL THE OIL LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE. *AK
CONCERNS REGARDING FIRES FOLLOWING OIL CHANGES IN 2003 CRV.*MR THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT JAMMED AND THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK FAILED. *JB
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MAY FOR A FAULTY SRS CABLE REEL CONNECTOR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PART TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *NM RECALL# 04V255000. *SC *JB
THE ORIGINAL TIRES SHOWED SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE WEAR. VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT ON MAY 2003, AND FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH ONLY 13,140 MILES ON THEM. DEALERSHIP ROTATED TWICE THE FOUR TIRES. BRIDGESTONE, DUELER. SIZE UNKNOWN, DOT# UNKNOWN. . *AK
BRIDGESTONE LT SIZE P205/70R15 DOT:T0118684PZ WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW UP. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PULL OVER. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
CONCERNS REGARDING VEHICLE FIRE AFTER OIL CHANGE. *MR THE CONSUMER SUGGESTED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS KNOWN TO CATCH FIRE IF THE OIL FILTER WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AT REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THE CONSUMER ALSO REQUESTED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS ISSUE. *SC *JB
I NOTICED THAT THE MOST RECENTLY BUILT HONDA CRV'S SEEM TO HAVE POORLY FOCUSED HEADLIGHTS. I DRIVE ONCE A WEEK AND LAST NIGHT I DROVE 100 MILES AND EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHTS REFLECTED IN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR, THE VEHICLE WAS LATE MODEL CRV WITH THE TALL TAIL LIGHTS. DRIVING BACK HOME I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN A LATE MODEL CRV. I THOUGH IT MIGHT OF BEEN HIGH BEAMS BUT AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE HEADLIGHT DESIGN. SHORTLY AFTER THE SECOND CRV, I NOTICED THE THIRD VEHICLE WITH BLINDING HEADLIGHTS AND AGAIN IT WAS A LATE MODEL CRV. I OBSERVED A COUPLE OF OTHER CRV'S PASS WITHOUT A PROBLEM, THEY WERE THE OLDER CRV'S WITH THE SHORTER TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE A BADLY DESIGNED HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE LATEST CRV'S. BRIAN BLUM FORMER SUMMER INTERN IN THE OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT 1980.*AK
CONSUMER WAS PULLING ONTO THE STREET AND WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER TODAY REFERRING TO THE AIR BAGS. *AK
THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED TWICE, AND CRACKED AGAIN. CONSUMER FELT THE GLASS WAS INFERIOR, AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE NOTIFIED.*AK

CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE FIRST OIL CHANGE OIL BEGAN TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. DEALER STATED BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CHANGE THE OIL FILTER WITHOUT CREATING A PUDDLE OF OIL ON TOP OF THE FRAME RAIL. *AK
MY 2003 HONDA CRV HAS ONLY 27000 MILES ON IT. DURING A LONG DRIVE ON A VACATION, THE REAR BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, THE REAR PADS WERE GONE AND THE REAR DISKS WERE DESTROYED. I PAID NEARLY $500 TO REPLACE THE REAR DISC BRAKES. THE FRONT DISC BRAKES SHOW ONLY 50% WEAR. THE ORIGINAL BACK BRAKES WERE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE, ALTHOUGH HONDA WILL NOT ADMIT THIS.*AK
CONCERNS INVOLVING HONDA CRV'S THAT BURSTING INTO FLAMES AFTER OIL CHANGES. *MR THE CONSUMER HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT THE 2003-2004 HONDA CRV'S WERE BURSTING INTO FLAMES AND WAS CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN TO HER VEHICLE. *SC *JB
DT: CALLER HAD PROBLEMS WITH REAR BRAKES. CALLER HEARD GRINDING AND SCRAPING WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. DEALER IN AREA SAID BOTH BACK BRAKE PADS WERE SHOT, AND DEALER REPLACED THEM. MANUFACTURER TOLD CALLER TO GO TO LOCAL AREA DEALER TO GET REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. CALLER SAID SHE HAD THIS PROBLEM GOING FORWARD AND BACKWARD WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE USE OF A CELL PHONE INSIDE THE VEHICLE WILL CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO DEACTIVATE. *AK
MY CR-V AT TIMES DOES NOT HAVE ANY POWER AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. I HAVE TO PUT THE PEDAL DOWN ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT BARELY MOVES. THIS PROBLEM ALMOST CAUSED AN ACIDENT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION ONE DAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. THE HONDA DEALER SAYS IT'S THE AIR-CONDITIONING COMING ON AT THE SAME TIME THAT I AM GIVING IT POWER. THIS DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT, THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING ELSE WRONG. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE GARAGE TWICE NOW. *AK
MY WIFE OWNS A 2003 HONDA CRV PURCHASED FROM JEFF WELER HONDA OF CINCINNATI. THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS BROKEN. HONDA INFORMED ME THAT THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND AS A RESULT, THEY CANNOT SUPPLY THE MIRROR TO ME. *JB HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT HONDA IS CURRENTLY MAKING 2004 CRV'S AND THE PART NUMBER FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS THE SAME FOR BOTH THE 2003 AND THE 2004 MODELS. ADDITIONALLY, MANY HONDA DEALERS HAVE NEW 2003 AND 2004 CRV'S ON THEIR LOTS, BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO "BORROW" A MIRROR FROM A NEW VEHICLE AND SUPPLY IT TO CONSUMERS WHO HAVE BROKEN MIRRORS. ADDITIONALLY, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THE CAR FROM CINCINNATI TO COLUMBUS AND BACK YESTERDAY IN ORDER TO PICK UP A FRIEND WHO HAD BEEN INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT. DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT A PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS DANGEROUS GIVEN THE DESIGN OF THE INSIDE MIRROR AND THE DESIGN OF THE REAR BODY PILLARS. FROM MY POINT OF VIEW, IT APPEARS THAT HONDA HAS THE PARTS TO MAKE MY WIFE'S CAR SAFE AND THEY ARE CHOOSING TO PUT PRIORITY ON THE BUILDING OF NEW CARS INSTEAD OF MAKING EXISTING CARS SAFE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, DRIVER HIT FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL, AND SUSTAINED BACK AND FACIAL INJURIES. *AK
I WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WITH MY HONDA CRV. A CAR TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I BROAD-SIDED THE VEHICLE AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OPENED BUT MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY BUT THERE WAS GAS COMING OUT OF THE DASH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE CAR WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.*AK
THE VEHICLE SURGED WHEN ACCELERATING. *NM THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP AND WAS MORE NOTICEABLE WITH THE A/C ON. THE DOOR SEAL ON THE LEFT FRONT DOOR ST THE BOTTOM WOULD SOMETIMES HANG DOWN. *SC
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT 17,000 MILE AT SACCUCI HONDA DEALERSHIP ON MY 2003 HONDA CRV EX, THAT NIGHT I NOTICED OIL DRIPPING FREELY ONTO THE FRAME AND EXHAUST PIPE. HONDA FIXED THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY, BUT DISMISSED THE PROBLEM, STATING THAT THE OIL FILTER MUST HAVE BEEN BAD. THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE STARTING ON MY CAR WAS VERY REAL. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT AFTER HAVING THE OIL FILTER CHANGED OIL WAS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
INVOLVED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH MID-SIZE SEDAN, ME - 35 MPH, HER - 15 MPH. CAR WAS IMPACTED 2 IN LEFT OF CENTER OF LICENSE PLATE (DRIVER'S SIDE) DRIVING RADIATOR UP THROUGH ENGINE. PASSENGER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED, DRIVER'S DID NOT. DRIVER'S SHOULDER HARNESS FAILED. DRIVER RECEIVED MULTIPLE CONTUSIONS TO FACE, CHEST, PELVIS AND SPRAINED NECK AND UPPER & LOWER BACK.*AK
I WAS HIT HEAD-ON BY A MID-SIZED SEDAN WHICH DRILLED MY LICENSE PLATE BACK TO THE FIREWALL. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, DESPITE THE SPEED (ME 45, HER 20) AND THE DRIVER'S SHOULDER HARNESS FAILED TO RESTRAIN ME. I CRUSHED THE STEERING COLUMN WITH MY CHEST AND HAD TO BE REMOVED WITH THE JAWS OF LIFE. HONDA SENT A TECHNICIAN WHO DECLARED A FAULTY SEATBELT AND FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED OVER $15,000 DAMAGE, WAS FULLY REPAIRED, ALTHOUGH MY INSURANCE PAID FOR IT, NOT HONDA. I SUSTAINED MULTIPLE SOFT-TISSUE INJURIES, BROKEN RIBS AND A DISLOCATED SHOULDER. I CONTINUE WITH THERAPY ALMOST THREE YEARS LATER. *NM
COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE. WHILE TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEED NOTICED TIRE VIBRATION. WITHIN 10 SECONDS OF HEARING THE NOISE THE TIRE COMPLETELY FAILED-- THE TIRE WAS IN 3 PEICES: THE TWO SIDEWALLS WERE HANGING ON THE RIM AND THE ENTIRE TREAD AREA WAS SEPARATED FROM THEM (THE TREAD AREA REMAINED IN ONE SOLID PIECE). THE TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THE CAR, WHICH IS ONLY7 MONTHS OLD. THE MILEAGE ON THEM WAS 10000. *AK
THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSOR HAS FAILED IN THIS CAR AND THE SRS LIGHT REMAINS ON. *AK
VEHICLE FIRE REGARDING 2003 HONDA CRV. *MR THERE WAS OVERHEATING OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS LOCKED IN THE BURNING VEHICLE. THE LOCKS REMAINED ACTIVATED AND WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE, EVEN THOUGH THE IGNITION WAS OFF. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE HAD BECOME FILLED WITH HEAVY BLACK SMOKE ALONG WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE DAMAGE FOUND WAS CONSISTENT WITH A HIGH RESISTANCE CONDITION OCCURRING IN THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR OIL CONTROL SOLENOID CIRCUIT WIRING RESULTING IN ELECTRICAL OVERHEATING, RESULTING IN A FIRE. MINOR HEAT AND FIRE DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE RIGHT FRONT AREA OF THE ENGINE STARTING NEAR THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY EXTENDING UPWARDS TOWARDS THE VALVE COVER AREA. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE FUSE/RELAY CENTER LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT REVEALED A 15 AMP FUSE PROTECTING THE ECU CIRCUIT WAS BLOWN CONSISTENT WITH A COMPONENT AND OR ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITHIN THIS CIRCUIT. *SC ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICAL REPORT, THE FIRE BEGAN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND WAS CONSIDERED AN ACCIDENT NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.*JB
