I HAVE TWO SAFETY RECALL NOTICES THAT THE DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO FIX BECAUSE OF LACK OF PARTS. THE RECALL NOTICES ARE SIX MONTHS OLD.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY BYSTANDERS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CONSUMER LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE OIL FILTER AND INSTALLATION OF OIL FILTER WAS DEFECTIVE. *JB *TC
I OWNED A 2003 HONDA CR-V THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER(HONDA WINDWARD) OCTOBER 2003. ON THE 11TH OF THIS MONTH OF JANUARY 2004, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE CAR SUFFERED A FIRE THAT TOTALED OUT THE CAR. I MANAGED TO GET OUT IN TIME, SUFFERING ONLY A TWISTED KNEE.
MY 2003 HONDA CR-V EX 4WD HAD AN ENGINE FIRE ONE MORNING AFTER I STARTED THE CAR 10 MINUTES LATER. THE WEATHER TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE TEENS THAT MORNING. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS, IT BURNED COMPLETELY. THE ONLY RECENT WORK DONE TO THE CAR WAS ITS FIRST 3000 MI OIL CHANGE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN SEPTEMBER 2003, AND THIS ENGINE FIRE HAPPENED ON JANUARY 07, 2004. THE CAR HAD 3300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I'VE SEARCHED NHTSA.GOV WEB SITE'S DATABASE, AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER INCIDENT THAT IS VERY SIMILAR TO MY SITUATION. I'VE ALSO FOUND MESSAGES POSTED TO NEWSGROUPS ON EDMUNDS.COM THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE SAME ENGINE FIRE AFTER OIL CHANGE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE, AND WOULD LIKE THE GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION AGAINST THE 2003 HONDA CRV'S *AK
VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTS ABRUPTLY WHEN STOPPPING, EHICLE HESITATES (OCCASIONALLY)WHEN DRIVING, VEHICLE LOSES OVERDRIVE(OCCASIONALLY). *AK
DECEMBER 22, 2003, THE HOOD OF MY 2003 HONDA CRV FLEW UP AND BROKE THE WINDSHIELD, WHILE I WAS CROSSING A BRIDGE IN VERY WINDY CONDITIONS. THE CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED THE PREVIOUS MONTH AND THERE WAS ALSO AN OIL CHANGE (NOVEMBER), WHEN THE HOOD WAS LAST OPENED. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION THE HOOD WAS NOT SECURE.
I BROUGHT MY 2003 HONDA CR-V EX MODEL IN TO MAINE MALL HONDA IN SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE FOR ROUTINE 10,000 MILE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, WHICH INCLUDES CHANGING THE OIL, ROTATING TIRES AND INSPECTING FLUID LEVELS. WITHIN 5 MILES OF LEAVING THE DEALERS LOCATION, THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE AND THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I FIRST NOTICED SMOLE BY LOOKING IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR APPROXIAMTELY 2 MILES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERS LOCATION. THINKING IT WAS JUST SOME SPILLED OIL, I KEPT ON DRIVING UNTIL I NOTICED THE LOW OIL LIGHT COME ON THE DASHBOARD. I PULLED THE CAR OVER AND SMELLED OIL. AT THAT POINT I OPENED THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND SAW FLAMES IN THE ENGINE. THE MAINE STATE POLICE ARRIVED WITHIN 5 MINUTES AND DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS TOO FAR PROGREESED TO SAVE THE CAR. THE SOUTH PORTLAND AND SCARBOROUGH MAINE FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED WITHIN 10 MINUTES TO PUT OUT THE FIRE.*AK
2003 HONDA CRV EX - WHEN REDUCING SPEED TRANSMISSION FAILS TO DOWNSHIFT AND BEGINS TO MAKE GRINDING NOISE. ONCE STOPPED GRINDING CONTINUES THEN GEARS RE-ENGAGE AND LUNGES SUV FORWARD QUICKLY. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME AT THE LIGHTS!! TO REMEDY - I HAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE FROM PARK POSITION. PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION AND ENGINE LIGHT ENGAGED - I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR TESTS - STATED ENGINE LIGHT REPORT STATES "TRANSMISSION FAILURE" BUT NO OTHER INFO PROVIDED. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE BY DRIVING AND WAS TOLD THAT I MUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN.*AK
AFTER AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2003 HONDA CR-V, THE OIL LEAKED OUT FROM THE FILTER LOCATIION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND SATURATED THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WITH OIL PROMPTING A COMPLETE CHANGE ON THE COMPUTER AND O2 SENSORS AND OTHER COMPONENTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE ENGINE AREA. FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE OIL LEAKING FROM THE OIL FILTER. *AK
I WAS HIT BY A VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2003 (WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT) THAT WAS HIT BY A CAR THAT RAN A RED LIGHT WHICH CAUSED $10,000.00 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR. IN THE ACCIDENT MY RIGHT ARM WAS INJURED AND EVENTUALLY WAS OPERATED ON. THE AIRBAG IN MY CAR DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS HIT SQUARELY IN THE FRONT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND I THINK THE AIRBAG UNIT IS DEFECTIVE.
STEERING WHEEL AND AIR BAG. POSITION EITHER PUTS DRIVER AT RISK OF INJURY FROM AIR BAG, OR DRIVER CANNOT SEE THE DASH GAUGES. BOTH ARE SERIOUS DESIGN FLAWS (AND POTENTIALLY SAFETY ISSUES) ON THIS VEHICLE, 2003 HONDA CRV, EX MODEL. *LA
6 DAYS AFTER HAVING THROTTLE CABLE RECALL AND A/T SHIFT CABLE RECALL AND O/C, CAR BURST INTO FLAMES (TOTALED) WHILE DRIVING 20-25 MPH. HONDA SAYS NOT DEFECT? CAR HAD 8200 MILES ON ODOMETER. NO EVIDENCE THAT OIL FROM O/C CAUSED FIRE. HONDA INVESTIGATIONS HAS NO ANSWER. FIRE STARTED OR WAS FIRST EVIDENT IN DRIVERS WHEEL WELL AREA. *LA
PROBLEMS WITH FRONT BRAKES ON 2003 HONDA CRV.*MR THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. WHEN THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THE STATED IT WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE SUV AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE DEALER DID REPLACE THE LOWER BRAKE PAD RETAINER CLIPS AS PER SERVICE BULLETIN. THE CONSUMER WAS OFFERED TO DRIVE ANOTHER 2003 CRV TO PROVE THE NOISY BRAKES WERE A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER WASN'T HAPPY WITH THIS AND WOULD LIKE SOME SORT OF DISCOUNT OR THE DEALER TO PAY OFF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT WOULDN'T LATCH. CONSUMER HAD THE THROTTLE CABLE REPLACED TO ELIMINATE THE NOISE BUT TO NO AVAIL. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE NOISE WILL NEVER GO COMPLETELY AWAY. *PH *NLM
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED AND VEHICLE COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF THEN ON AGAIN IN ORDER FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE UNLOCKED. *PH *NLM
VEHICLE BRAKES ARE TOTALLY WORN OUT.*MR WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER HEARD A HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE BRAKES FAILED PREMATURELY, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS. *NLM
SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED, SMOKE STARTING COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING HOME. THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE THE OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED WITH THE EXCITING O-RINGS, THUS CREATING AN OIL LEAK. THE OIL DRIPPED ON THE EXHAUST. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE. TO AVOID THIS FROM RECURRING WHEN AN THE OIL FILTER AND THE O-RINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED.*AK
AFTER HAVING THE SHIFT CABLE LINKAGE CORROSION RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED, WHILE DRIVING 30/35 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM UNDER THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED. *AK THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN SERVICED FOR IT'S FIRST OIL CHANGE AND THE RECALL. ONE MILE DOWN THE ROAD FROM PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT BURST INTO FLAMES. THE SMOKE WENT EVERYWHERE AND THERE WAS FLAMES COMING UP FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *CB ACCORDING TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE FIRE MAY HAVE ORIGINATED FROM BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR. *JB
AUTO-REVERSE MECHANISM WORKS INTERMITTENTLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW. IT HAS POWER UP FEATURE (WHICH I THINK IS A BAD IDEA ALL-AROUND). IT IS SUPPOSED TO AUTO-REVERSE IF IT MEETS RESISTANCE ON THE WAY UP. IN MANY CASES, IT DOES NOT WORK AND WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE APPLIED AGAINST THE WINDOW, IT WANTS TO KEEP PUSHING UP VERY STRONGLY. THIS WOULD KILL A KID OR PET IF THEY GOT CAUGHT IN THERE. WANTED DEALER TO TURN IT OFF, BUT THEY SAID IT COULD NOT BE DONE. I WILL GO BACK TO HAVE THEM REPLACE UNIT, AS IT IS DANGEROUS. I AM SURE THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, BUT I WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO ENSURE THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND CONSIDERS OFFERING A RECALL TO AVOID CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH.*JB
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS BRAKES MADE LOUD NOISE. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE TWICE, AND STATED IT WAS UNDER HONDA SPECIFICATIONS. *AK
ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE STARTED BUCKING. *MR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUALLY COME ON, THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BUCK, SMOKE THEN SHUT OFF, OIL WAS IN THE FILTER AND THE GASKET BLEW OUT, THE VTEC SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED ALONG WITH FAULTY SOLENOID VALVES, AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS EXCESSIVELY LOW. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED GEARS WITHOUT WARNING. *AK THE SHIFT LEVER WAS NOT DESIGNED TO LOCK INTO DRIVE. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2003 CR-V IN 2003. IN THE FALL OF 2003 A VEHICLE STRUCK THE CR-V IN THE RIGHT FRONT AREA. THE CR-V WAS REPAIRED AT A LOCAL DEALER'S BODY SHOP. DUE TO A PARTS SHORTAGE IT WAS SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. IN SPRING OF 2004 I REPLACED A HEADLAMP THAT HAD QUIT BURNING ON LOW BEAM SETTING. THE OPPOSITE BULB STOPPED WORKING A FEW DAYS LATER AND WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AFTER REPLACING THE FIRST BULB ANOTHER I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER BULB FAILURE ON LOW BEAM SETTING. I REPLACED BOTH HEAD LAMP BULBS AND WENT ANOTHER 4 MONTHS OR SO BEFORE EXPERIENCING ANOTHER FAILURE. SINCE THIS PROBLEM BEGAN I HAVE REPLACED AN AVERAGE OF 8 HEADLAMPS (4 SETS)PER YEAR. WHEN DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT WAS THOUGHT THAT A WIRE MAY HAVE BEEN PINCHED DURING THE COLLISION. DURING THE INITIAL DISCUSSION OF THIS PROBLEM I TENDED TO AGREE THAT IT WOULD BE COST PROHIBITIVE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS AGO I REPLACED BOTH HEADLAMPS IN THE CR-V. ON 9/02/11 I NOTICED A STRONG BURNING ODOR WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE ODOR LASTED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. LATER THAT DAY MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER DROVE THE CR-V. UPON THEIR RETURN HOME I WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING REQUIRING THEM TO DRIVE HOME USING THE HIGH BEAM LAMPS. PREVIOUSLY THAT DAY I HAD PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A DECK AND KNEW THAT AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME BOTH LAMPS WERE FUNCTIONING ON LOW SETTING. I WENT TO REPLACE BOTH LAMPS TODAY BUT NEITHER REPLACEMENT WOULD BURN ON A LOW SETTING. FURTHER RESEARCH VIA INTERNET LED ME TO THE INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. AFTER LEARNING THAT OTHER INDIVIDUALS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND FILED A REPORT WITH THE NHTSA I FELT THAT ADDING MY NAME AND EXPERIENCES MIGHT PROVE BENEFICIAL IN DETERMINING THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PROBLEMS WITH 2003 HONDA CRV.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED TWO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE VEHICLE. WHEN SPEAKING TO THE SERVICE DEALER HE NOTED THINGS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE THAT WAS NOT ISSUED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER IS CONCERNED AND FEELS UNSAFE ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE. * CB
THE CLAMPS ON THE RADIATOR WERE NOT PROPERLY SEALED AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. AS A RESULT THE ENGINE OVER HEATED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE ANTI FREEZE LEAKED OUT ONTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALERSHIP TIGHTENED THE CLAMP, BUT THE HEAD GASKET BLEW A DAY LATER. *JB *NLM
I HAVE A NEW HONDA CRV WITH 1,600 MILES AND 3 DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY BRIDGESTONE TIRE BLEW APART, SENDING THE TIRE ACROSS 3 LANES OF HIGHWAY. A DEPUTY SHERIFF WAS DRIVING ,AND HE STATED HE HAD NEVER HAD A BLOWOUT LIKE THAT AND FELT IT WAS PROBABLY A DEFECTIVE TIRE.*AK
AFTER A OIL FILTER CHANGE A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AT 25 MPH. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP HAD NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKE CALIPER DID NOT RELEASE, CAUSING THE BRAKE PADSTO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. CONSUME RTOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STRIPPED DOWN THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY GONE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM IN THE CALIPER SYSTEM IN WHICH BRAKES DO NOT FULLY RETRACT CAUSING BOTH PADS AND ROTORS TO QUIETLY WEAR AWAY. THE CONSUMERS BRAKES WERE METAL ON METAL. DEALERSHIP WAS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS SO THE CONSUMERS WARRANTY WAS NULL AND VOID. *TC
I JUST RECIEVED MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AT SHOCKLEY HONDA IN FREDERICK MARYLAND ON MY HONDA CRV. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 2 MILES MY CAR STARTED TO SMOKE OUT THE BACK. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, FLAMES SHOUT THE HOOD OF MY VEHICLE. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE DEALER DID REPLACE SOME OF THE BURNT PARTS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS. HAD TO BUY A NEW CRV BECAUSE OF THIS DAMAGE. I HAD SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSES NOT REMIMBURSED BY HONDA. *AK
GEAR SHIFT (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT GO IN OR OUT OF DRIVE. HAS HAPPENED ON 2 OCCASIONS (AUGUST, 6000 MILES) AND (OCTOBER, 8600 MILES). DEALER CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. *LA
THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONSUMER PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND STOPPED, HE CHECKED ALL THE TIRES AND THE NOTICED LEFT REAR TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT AND WAS SHREDDED. THE STEEL BELT INSIDE OF TIRE WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SCHWABS, AND ALL TIRES WERE REPLACED.*AK *TS *JB
ON 7/29/03 AT ABOUT 7:45 AM MY GRANDSON OPENED THE HOOD OF MY NEW HONDA CRV IN ORDER TO GET A "JUMP START" TO START HIS CAR. I CLOSED THE HOOD, HEARD A SNAP, GENTLY TESTED THE HOOD FOR CLOSURE AND MOVED ON. AT ABOUT 10:00 AM I STARTED TO BURLINGTON AND AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES, WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 60 MPH, THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AND BANGED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. THANKS TO SCANT TRAFFIC AND ABOUT A 2 INCH SLOT BELOW THE HOOD, I WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE HOOD (RESHAPE) ENOUGH TO GET IT CLOSED AND DRIVE ON. AT ABOUT 11:30 RETURNED TO THE DEALER (SHEARER HONDA IN RUTLAND VT) WHERE THE HEAD MECHANIC AND SERVICE MANAGER DETERMINED THAT THE HOOD LATCHES WORKED CORRECTLY. THEY NOTED "CREASING" OF THE COATING ON THE HOOD SUPPORT ROD AT ABOUT WHERE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN CREASED HAD IT MISTAKINGLY BEEN INSERTED INTO THE SAFETY LATCH (THE SAFETEY LATCH HAS A U SHAPED AREA NOT UNLIKE THE SUPPORT ROD ROD HOLDER ON MY PREVIOUS CHEVIE S-10 PICKUP). I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY PROBLEM I SHOULD CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND FILE A CLAIM. HOWEVER, SINCE IT SEEMED TO ME TO BE A SAFETY MATTER, ONE WHERE I COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED, I DECIDED TO CALL HONDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THE HONDA SPOKESPERSON SAID SINCE SHE DEALERSHIP HAD DETERMINED THE LATCHES WERE OK AND BECAUSE IT WAS APPARENTLY DUE TO MISUSE ON MY PART THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I SHOULD CONTACT MY INSURANCE AGENT. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE NOT HAD COMPLAINTS RE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH DOESN'T SUPRISE ME IF OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM WERE ALSO TOLD IT WAS THEIR FAULT AND "TAKE IT TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY". THE REALITY IS THAT IT IS A POOR, CONFUSING DESIGN. SIMPLY INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE SUPPORT ROD AT THE POINT WHERE IT WOULD COMPROMISE THE SAFETY LATCH WOULD PREVENT INADVERTANT ERRORS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL BRIEFLY MENTIONS THE SUPPORT ROD, BUT NO MENTION OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.

CLUNKING NOISE FROM FRONT BRAKES, WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. DEALER SAYS THIS IS A NORMAL SOUND, NO OTHER CAR MAKES IT ONLY THE HONDA CRV. IT APPEARS TO BE THE BRAKE PADS THAT ARE NOT SECURELY FASTENED.

WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH AND AFTER THE VERY FIRST OIL CHANGE CONSUMER FELT THE VEHICLE TREMBLED VIOLENTLY. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER, AND THE CONSUMER SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. ALSO, CONSUMER SAW THAT OIL WAS DRIPPING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE HAD BEEN A REPORT ON TELEVISION CONCERNING THE OIL FILTER. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE WAS THAT THE MECHANIC NEGLECTED TO RETURN THE OIL PAN PLUG.*AK
2003 HONDA CRV SHIFT CABLE MALFUNCTIONED RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR LESS THAN 2 MONTH AFTER THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE CONSUMER WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONSUMER BECAME CAUGHT ON THE VEHICLE'S DOOR AND WAS DRAGGED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET, ACROSS HER NEIGHBOR'S FRONT YARD UNTIL THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT THE NEIGHBORS PORCH STEPS. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED A CONTUSION TO HER LEFT LEG FROM HER HIP TO HER KNEE. A MONTH AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE A/T SHIFT CABLE. THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL WERE EXACTLY WHAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY STATING THAT THE CONSUMER HAD TO PROVE THAT THE VEHICLE WASN'T LEFT IN DRIVE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. *NM

MY MOM'S 2003 HONDA CR-V EX AWD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS THIS CLICKING SOUND WHENEVER WE DRIVE IT AROUND. ON OCCASION THE CLICKING IS LOUD, BUT IT CAN GET VERY ANNOYING. THE AUTOMATIC, WHEN STARTING AND PUTTING IN REVERSE HAS A VERY UN-HONDA LIKE NOISE WITH A JOLT. WHEN WE TOOK IT FOR THE NHTSA RECALL FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THEY DID THE SERVICE. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS THE CLICKING WENT BACK. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE HONDA CERTIFIED MECHANIC SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL BECAUSE THE BRAKES ARE ADJUSTING ITSELF. I WANT TO KNOW DO ANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS OF CR-V'S BUILT FROM 2002-2003 MODEL YEARS HAVE THIS SAME NOISE PROBLEM? *AK
STEERING HANGS IN A TURN CAUSING DANGEROUS LOSE OF CONTROL. STEERING WHEEL MUST BE FORCED BACK. DEALER TRIED TO FIX PROBLEM BUT FAILED. BOTH DEALER AND HONDA TECH-LINE (ENGINEERS) CONCLUDED THAT THE PROBLEM IN INHERENT IN THE NEW DESIGN AND THERE IS NO FIX. LEAVING ME WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. I WAS FORCED TO DISPOSE OF THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 500 MILES ON IT, AT A $2000 LOSE.
I PURCHASED MY 2003 CR-V IN APRIL OF 2003. IN JUNE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR GOING 70MPH WHEN MY HOOD FLEW UP AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I CALLED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES, AND THEY SAID I HAVE TO TURN IT IN TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT, AND HAD THAT HAPPENED ANOTHER MILE DOWN THE ROAD, WE WOULD HAVE ALL BEEN KILLED. THE ROAD HAD CEMENT BARRIERS AND WENT DOWN TO ONE LANE.
CAR WAS PURCHASED ON 11-29-02. WINDSHIELD REPLACED ON 6-3-03. THREE MONTHS LATER ON 9-23-03, WINDSHILED NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. AROUND 4-03, ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED. I CONTACTED THE HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE WHERE THEY SENT ME TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE WINDSHILED CHECKED. THEIR CLAIM WAS THAT IT WAS A STONE THAT CRACKED IT. OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. HOWEVER I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT A WINDSHIELD SHOULD RECEIVE DAMAGE THAT EASILY. THIS IS THE FIRST CAR I HAVE EVER HAD WHERE THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT THE MOMENT, THERE ARE TWO SEALED CRACKS AND EVENTUALLY THE WINDSHIELD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS OCCURS, IT COST ME $100.00 OUT OF POCKET. I AM AFRAID THAT IF I KEEP CLAIMING ON MY INSURANCE, MY RATES WILL GO UP. I HAVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT TRAVEL THE SAME ROADS AS I DO AND THEIR CARS WINDSHIELDS DON'T GET DAMAGED. *AK

I GOT A 2003 HONDA CR-V, I NOTICED THAT WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE IT'S MAKING A CLICKING SOUND. I WENT TO THE DEALER SO THEY CAN CHECK IT BUT ONE OF THE GUYS SHOWED ME A DIAGRAM OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. HE SAID THAT IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM WITH CR-V AND CIVIC. WHEN I PLACED THE CR-V IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY MY FOOT SLIP FROM THE BRAKE AND HIT THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR CATAPULTED HITTING MY HONDA ACCORD ON THE REAR PANEL OF THE DRIVER SIDE, MY ACCORD WAS PARKED PERPENDICULAR TO THE DRIVING PATH I INFORMED HONDA RECOMMENDED DESIGN CHANGES.. I REMEMBER THAT I USED TO OWN A TOYOTA CAMRY WHERE THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD ENOUGH GAP THAT I COULD PLACE MY FOOT BETWEEN THE TWO PEDALS. WHEN I SHIFT THE GEAR IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND THEN RELEASE THE BRAKE, THERE IS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE THAT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. SHE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HER DEALERSHIP AND THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WERE REPLACED ON HER CAR: 1) THROTTLE SHIFT - RECALL 2) SHIFT CABLE - RECALL I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND I WAS TOLD THE FOLLOWING: 1) A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MY CAR BUT I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL HONDA SENDS ME A WRITTEN NOTIFICATION BEFORE THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM 2) I INSISTED THAT I WANTED THE PROBLEM FIXED NOW DUE TO A DEFECT THAT CAN ENDANGER MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE STAFF THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY IF I WANT THE PROBLEM FIXED
