POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION REPORTEDLY NEED REPLACEMENT, AND REALIGNMENT, DUE TO FLUID LINK. THIS APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE, YEAR AND MAKE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS.
APPROX 6 MONTHS AGO A CRACK STARTED IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT STARTED FROM THE TOP RUBBER GASKET & WAS IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE WINDOW VISOR HOLDER. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. WE HAD THE WINDOW REPLACED BY SAFELIGHT WINDOW REPAIR COMPANY. NOW WE HAVE A CRACK STARTING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD & RUNNING DOWN FROM THE TOP RUBBER GASKET & ALSO IN DIRECT ALIGNMENT WITH THE VISOR HOLDER. A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE MUST BE APPLIED TO SEAT THE VISOR BACK INTO THE HOLDER. BOTH CRACKS HAPPENED DURING HIGHWAY TRAVEL WITH NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF DAMAGE BY A ROCK, ETC. BOTH TIMES THE VISORS HAD BEEN TURNED TO THE SIDE WINDOW TO BLOCK THE SUN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DOORS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS ELECTRONICALLY AND MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH SOMEONE IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ALL THE DOOR ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,686.
AFTER BALANCING ROTATING TIRES AND 2 ALIGNMENTS CAR CONTINUES TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. CLAIM ALIGNMENT IS CORRECT BUT CONTINUES TO PULL RIGHT ON ALL ROADS AT ALL SPEEDS
I OWN A 2008 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I ATTEMPTED TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS. HOWEVER, THE LEFT SIDE REAR DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT LOCK. I THINK THIS WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN AS MY PASSENGERS. ALSO, KNOWING THAT MY CAR WAS LOCKED ALREADY BUT NOT, THERE WILL BE A POTENTIAL DANGER OF BAD GUYS COMING INSIDE EITHER TO TAKE VALUABLE ITEMS OR DAMAGE MY CAR. I AM PLANNING TO BRING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT WONDERING IF THE CHARGES WOULD BE COVERED BY ANY SERVICE BULLETINS TO GIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING SOUND AND THE AIR CONDITIONER, WHICH WAS ON AND WORKING GREAT, STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN VERY COMMON ON HONDA CR-VS. FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND THE FOUR DIFFERENT FAILURE MODES THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE AC COMPRESSOR EXPLODED OR IMPLODED AND COULD HAVE LEFT SHARDS OF METAL ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS DRIVING ON. TWO OTHER FAILURE MODES OF THIS PROBLEM INCLUDE THE CLUTCH AXLE SHAFT SHEARING AND THE CLUTCH ITSELF MELTING. WHINE IN POWER STEERING WHICH DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ONE HOUR TO REPLACE O-RING IN POWER STEERING LINE. MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM IN HONDA CARS FOUND ONLINE, A TECH BULLETIN ISSUES ON SOME MODELS BUT NOT ON MINE.
I HAD JUST MADE A SHARP TURN IN THE PARKING GARAGE TO PULL INTO MY PARKING SPOT. THE CAR ACCELERATED FROM ESSENTIALLY A DEAD STOP. MY CRV ACCELERATED, JUMPED A PARKING DIVIDER AND STRUCK A CONCRETE POLE THAT HOLDS UP THE ROOF OF THE PARKING GARAGE. I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKES AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. YOU COULD SMELL THE BURNING IN THE CAR. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I STRUCK THE L FRONT BUMPER, BLEW THE DRIVERS TIRE, CRUMPLED IN THE FENDER AND DID INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. I WAS SEEN AND TREATED AT AN URGENT CLINIC THAT NIGHT FOR BACK PAIN. A CITY POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED SINCE IT OCCURRED ON HOSPITAL PROPERTY BUT IT WAS FILED WITH HOSPITAL POLICE. THE DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED AT A PROFESSIONAL BODY SHOP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ACCELERATION. SAID "IT MUST JUST BE A GLITCH....."

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
BOUGHT OUR 2008 CRV, BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. BROUGHT CAR FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT IN HIS YEARS OF WORKING THERE, THIS IS ON OF THE WORST LEAKS HE HAS SEEN. MY CAR IS DRIVEN IN THE SUBURBS, TO PICK UP KIDS AND NO LONG ROAD TRIPS. WE BOUGHT A HONDA SPECIFICALLY FOR THEIR CRAFTSMANSHIP AND DURABILITY AND NOW WE HAVE TO SHELL OUT $2000 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK. I THINK WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF 2008 CRV MODELS ABOUT THEIR STEERING RACKS, HONDA SHOULD RECALL AND REPLACE IT! I'M AFRAID THAT THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT SOMETHING MIGHT FAIL WHEN WE ARE DRIVING. WHAT A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, HONDA

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURE THE CONTACT ON IMPACT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE A-PILLAR WHERE THE SEAT BELT WAS ATTACHED BECAME SEPARATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE COLLAR BONE, HEAD, AND A PINCHED NERVE ABOVE THE HAIRLINE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,099.
A/C STARTED BLOWING OUT WARM AIR. I CALLED LOCAL HONDA SERVICE AND WAS TOLD NO RECALL FOR MY VIN# BUT I COULD BRING IT IN FOR $115 DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE. HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 7 YRS OR 100,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST TO REPLACE A/C COMPRESSOR CLUTCH AND FIELD COIL IF NEEDED BUT MY VEHICLE HAS 110,000 MILES ON IT SO IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IF THERE IS A DEFECT THEN HONDA SHOULD ADD TO RECALL SO THIS IS COVERED. I READ SOMETHING ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS FILED AND SETTLED ALREADY IN 2011/2012 FOR AC PROBLEMS WITH HONDA.
MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY AIRBAG CODE 32-10 FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR. IT COST ME $638.26 TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE AIRBAG RECALL LIST. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE ON THE AIRBAG RECALL LIST AND AM INQUIRING HOW MANY OTHER 2008 HONDA CRVS HAD THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE. I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATION AND THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG OR REPLACEMENT. I HAVE THE WRITTEN DIAGNOSTIC COMMENT AND REPLACEMENT RECEIPT.
AIR CONDITIONING IS NOT WORKING. MY HUSBAND FOUND A VIDEO REGARDING THIS MODEL YEAR & MAKE WHICH SAID THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL GOING ON FOR THIS PROBLEM. CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, COULDN'T GET IN TILL JULY 13. WENT AWAY FROM THE PHONE FOR A LITTLE BIT, THE DEALER CALLED BACK & LEFT A MESSAGE TO SAY MY CAR ISN'T INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND I CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. AFTER CHECKING NUMEROUS SITES I'VE REALIZED MY ORIGINAL CONTENTION IS CORRECT, THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ENGINEERING FLAW FROM HONDA AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THEM AT LITTLE (MAYBE FOR COOLANT REFILL) TO NO CHARGE, JUST FOR THEIR POOR DESIGN.

POWER STEERING RACK LEAKS HONDA CR-V 2008. I BOUGHT HONDA WITH 92,000 MILES IN JAN 2015 FROM A ED MORSE HONDA IN FLORIDA IN MAY 2015 THIS SAME DEALER TOLD ME THAT POWER STEERING RACK LEAKS AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $ 1,426.37. NO ANY EVIDENCE OF LEAKING FLUID ON THE GROUND. NOW I LIVE IN MAINE AND MY HONDA DID NOT PASS INSPECTION TEST - ONE OF THE REASON IS POWER STEERING RACK LEAKS. THANK YOU.. *TR

ON THE WAY DOWN THE HILL OF NORTH MAIN ST. EXT WALLINGFORD - SUBURU OUTBACK (CT LICENSE PLATE BECKY-D) PASSED IN THE ON-COMING LANE - SPEEDING TO PASS MY CAR WHICH WAS DOING SPEED LIMIT OF 25 MPH. I JUST WANT TO REPORT THIS - A DANGEROUS MOVE WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A BIG ACCIDENT IF THERE WAS AN ONCOMING CAR.

I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR FROM FLORIDA TO NY WITH MY DOG. WHILE TRAVELLING NORTH ON I95 I NOTICED SOME INTERMITTENT BUCKING, HARD SHIFTING, AND GOING INTO NEUTRAL. IT WAS INTERMITTENT SO I ASSUMED IT WAS SOME ANOMALY. AFTER STOPPING AT MY FAMILIES RESIDENCE IN YONKERS NY. I DROVE THE CAR TO RIVERDALE TO VISIT MY MOTHER. AFTER LEAVING THE NURSING HOME I PROCEEDED ON THE RETURN TRIP TO YONKERS. I WAS NORTHBOUND ON THE SPRAIN PARKWAY AND EXITED AT TUCKAHOE ROAD. THERE IS A FULL STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION. I WAS FULLY STOPPED LOOKED BOTH WAYS AN INCHED OUT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ( THE VISIBILITY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE EASTBOUND DIRECTION IS LIMITED BECAUSE OF AN INCLINE AND THE ROAD HAS HIGH TRAFFIC VOLUME DURING THE DAY) I AM NOT CERTAIN IF THE CAR SLIPPED BACK INTO NEUTRAL OR THE INDIVIDUAL BEHIND ME FAILED TO MAKE A FULL STOP. I WAS HIT RATHER HARD IN THE REAR END. WITH OR WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION CONCERN THE CAR BEHIND ME DID NOT OBEY THE STOP SIGN. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION AND REPAIR FACILITY. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN WAS ASSESSING DAMAGE HE PERFORMED A ROAD TEST AND FOUND THE CAR HESITATING AND SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. HE CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND FOUND THEM TO HAVE A BURNING SMELL AND BE BLACK. I HAD ONLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHED AND CHANGED IN JANUARY. AND PRIOR TO THAT LESS THAN 5 MONTHS EARLIER. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SUDDENLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. AT THAT MOMENT I NOTICED THAT THE METAL PART OF THE IGNITION KEY HAD SEPARATED FROM THE PLASTIC KEY FOB, AND THE PLASTIC PART, WITH THE REST OF MY KEYS ATTACHED, HAD DROPPED TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. AFTER INVESTIGATION, I SAW THAT THE SMALL SCREW THAT HOLDS THE PLASTIC AND METAL PARTS TOGETHER HAD PULLED THROUGH THE THIN SLIP OF PLASTIC TO WHICH IT WAS ATTACHED. THE ENGINE APPARENTLY TURNS OFF IF THE KEY FOB IS NOT IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE IGNITION. THIS MECHANISM PRESUMABLY HAS ANTI-THEFT FUNCTIONS, WHILE ALSO PREVENTING ANYONE BUT HONDA FROM SELLING REPLICATE KEYS. IN THIS CASE IT HAD THE WHOLLY UNDESIRED EFFECT OF SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE OF A CAR IN MOTION. IN ORDER TO RE-START THE CAR, THE PARTS HAD TO BE PRECARIOUSLY JAMMED BACK TOGETHER, AND I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE FEAR THAT THEY WOULD AGAIN RE-SEPARATE AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO TURN OFF. UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS IN GEAR, BUT UNDER THIS APPARENTLY UNANTICIPATED FAILURE MODE, IF THE KEY FOB EXPERIENCES A SUDDEN STRUCTURAL FAILURE, THE ENGINE DOES TURN ITSELF OFF. THIS SITUATION REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE RISK THAT THE CAR WILL ABRUPTLY LOSE BOTH ENGINE POWER AND POWER STEERING. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, OR IN TRAFFIC, THE SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. IT SEEMS REASONABLE FOR THE KEY FOB TO BE REQUIRED TO START THE ENGINE, BUT ONCE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, LOSS OF THE SIGNAL FROM THE FOB SHOULD NOT RESULT IN THE ENGINE TURNING OFF. *TR

THE 2008 HONDA CR-V HAS ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. I PURCHASED MY CAR NEW CAR AND RECENTLY BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR A DOOR-LOCK ACTUATOR RECALL AT DAVID MCDAVID HONDA IN TEXAS AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE A LEAK IN MY RACK AND PINION THAT CANNOT BE FIXED. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING/ RACK AND PINION SYSTEM WITH AN ALIGNMENT FOR ABOUT A COST OF $1500. WHILE DRIVING FROM MY HOME I GOT TO A TOLL BOOTH AND AFTER PAYING THE TOLL PLACED MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR SIMPLY REVVED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL WITH RPMS VARYING INDISCRIMINATELY. WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEAR AND WE COULDN'T MAINTAIN SPEED. SUDDENLY THE INCIDENT AT THE TOLL BOTH REPEATED ITSELF. I SHUT THE CAR DOWN ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURE WAS OK AS WAS OIL PRESSURE. AFTER A SHORT WAIT WE RESUMED DRIVING AND THE CAR PERFORMED NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 50 MILES AND THEN IT WAS BACK TO NO SHIFT OR LONG DURATION BEFORE SHIFT AND THEN A BANGING NOISE. WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION AND CAR WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND PLACING IT IN DRIVE I HAD A HARD SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE FAILURE TO ACCELERATE PUT US IN DANGER OF A REAR IMPACT COLLISION. I CALLED HONDA BUT IT WAS NOT SOMETHING THEY WOULD EVEN TALK ABOUT OVER THE PHONE. WE CONTINUED ON OUR RETURN TRIP AND WERE CRUISING AT THE 70 MPH LIMIT IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON I 75 IN FLORIDA WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED OUT OF GEAR GOING INTO A NEUTRAL MODE THE ENGINE RPMS WERE MOVING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND ATTEMPTING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER GETTING TO THE SHOULDER I CYCLED THROUGH ALL THE TRANSMISSION POSITIONS AND COULD ACHIEVE 3RD GEAR BUT IT WOULD GO IN AND OUT OF 4TH GEAR. WHEN THESE CONDITIONS OCCURRED I DID NOT FEEL I WAS IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE NOR SAFE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE BEFORE HOWEVER I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT IS A PROBLEM ON MULTIPLE MODELS OF HONDAS.
