SPOUSE HAD DRIVEN THE CAR NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES AND FLAMES SHOOT OUT OVER THE HOOD, IMMEDIATELY STOPS AND EXITS THE NEW CR-V IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. TWO MEN ARRIVE IMMEDIATELY WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND PUT OUT THE FIRE BEFORE THE CAR BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. DAMAGE ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND SMOKE DAMAGE IN THE CABIN AREA. *TR
MY VEHICLE MAKES A TERRIBLE SOUND UNDER THE HOOD UPON STARTING WHEN IT IS COLD. I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND DISCOVERED IT IS THE VTC ACTUATOR VALVE (MOST LIKELY). TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, LET IT OVERNIGHT SO THEY WOULD HEAR IT AFTER SETTING. THEY CLAIM NO NOISE UPON STARTING IT. I AM CONCERNED AT SOME POINT ENGINE PARTS ARE BEING DAMAGED. THE NOISE BEGAN WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. WENT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER, THEY SAID "HONDA PROBABLY DOES KNOW ABOUT THIS BUT THERE IS NO REPAIR/RECALL ORDER ISSUED SO THEY WON'T REPAIR IT. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW.
2014 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TIRE PRESSURE AND BRAKE SYSTEM ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING ON A SNOW PACK ROAD, HE WENT AROUND A BROAD CURVE, AT A SLOW SPEED, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SLID ACROSS THE ROAD INTO AN ONCOMING LANE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE REALIZED THE VEHICLE SLID TOO EASILY AND THE ABS ACTIVATED PREMATURELY, PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE TIRES WERE UNSAFE. *JB UPDATED 12/22/15. *JB
I BECAME EXTREMELY ILL FROM THE OFFGASSING OF THE TOXIC CHEMICALS IN MY NEW CAR. IT MADE ME DIZZY, NAUSEOUS, DISORIENTED, SLEEPY & LETHARGIC, GAVE ME A HEADACHE AND CAUSED BURNING TO MY LIPS, FACE AND LUNGS. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO BREATHE. A 2012 ECOLOGY CENTER STUDY SHOWS THAT THERE ARE OVER 270 CHEMICALS IN A NEW CAR, 70 OF THEM TOXIC (FORMALDEHYDE, STYRENE, BENZENE, AND TOLUENE ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS, ASTHMA, LEARNING DISORDERS, LEUKEMIA AND OTHER CANCERS) MY SYMPTOMS OF BREATHING DIFFICULTY, LETHARGY AND SLEEPINESS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THESE CHEMICALS POSE A HEALTH RISK FOR SIDS IN INFANTS. THE ECOLOGY CENTER AND AN ATTORNEY FOR SOMEONE WHO SUED TOYOTA FOR THIS SAME ISSUE SAID THAT MANY PEOPLE TOLD THEM THEY ALSO BECAME ILL FROM THE TOXINS IN THEIR NEW CARS. AMERICAN HONDA EVEN TOLD ME THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BECOME ILL FROM THE CHEMICALS. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO THESE TOXINS. MANUFACTURERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL PRODUCTS THAT POSE HEALTH RISKS. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION BEFORE SOMEONE BUYS A CAR. THE DEALER WOULDN'T REFUND. THEY PUT IN AN IONIZER, WHICH THEY SAID WOULD REMOVE THE CHEMICALS. WHEN I BREATHED IN THE AIR, AFTER THEY PUT IN THE IONIZER, IT BURNED MY LUNGS SO MUCH THAT I COULD BARELY BREATHE. MY LUNGS STILL HURT. THE AMERICAN LUNG ASSOC, EPA, CALIF DEPT OF HEALTH AND JOHNS HOPKINS ALL REPORT THAT IONIZERS CREATE OZONE WHICH DAMAGES LUNGS, MAKES ANY CHEMICAL THAT IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH EVEN MORE VOLATILE AND CAN BE LETHAL. AUTO MANUFACTURERS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SELL PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN TOXIC CANCER CAUSING CHEMICALS. HOPEFULLY, THE NHTSA CAN DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THIS PRACTICE AND PROTECT CONSUMERS, ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE CHILDREN, SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO SUFFER OR DIE NEEDLESSLY. I ALSO WONDER IF CAR MANUFACTURERS ARE REPORTING THE COMPLAINTS OF ILLNESSES FROM THE TOXINS TO THE GOVERNMENT. *TR
WHEN STARTING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON VERY COLD DAYS, THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE FOR A SECOND OR TWO. HAPPENS ALSO IF IT IS SITTING OUTSIDE FOR SEVERAL HOURS IN COLD WEATHER. I SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND AM TAKING IT TO DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHETHER IT CAN BE FIXED. MY CAR ONLY HAS 6,500 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS. THIS IS HAPPENING ON MY SECOND CR-V AS WELL WHICH HAS ABOUT 9,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
MY 1 YEAR-OLD HONDA CR-V HAS 17,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE I DO A LOT OF DRIVING FOR MY BUSINESS. IN THAT TIME, THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AT LEAST 4 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WAS AS WINTER WAS SETTING IN, AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHERE WE BOTH ASSUMED IT WAS JUST THE COLD WEATHER CAUSING THE TIRES TO LOSE A LITTLE PRESSURE, SO THEY PUT A LITTLE AIR IN AND RESET THE BUTTON. THE OTHER THREE TIMES, IT HAS BEEN QUITE WARM, SO COLD WEATHER IS NOT THE ISSUE. EACH TIME, I HAVE NOT BEEN ANYWHERE I COULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, BUT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY MECHANIC TWICE AND STOPPED AT A FORD DEALER I WAS PASSING WHEN IT HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND OF JULY 4TH. EACH TIME, NOBODY COULD FIND ANY PROBLEM, AND WE JUST RESET THE BUTTON. IT DOESN'T MAKE ME COMFORTABLE TO SEE THAT A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT ALSO DOESN'T MAKE ME COMFORTABLE THAT THE WARNING LIGHT IS MEANT TO LET ME KNOW WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. HOW WILL I KNOW THAT I CAN COUNT ON IT WORKING PROPERLY IF THERE REALLY IS A PROBLEM?!
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT NEEDS A GADGET TO PREVENT THE BELT FROM INJURING THE DRIVER'S THROAT. THESE GADGETS ( I TESTED SEVERAL) TWIST THE BELT SO THAT THE BELT IS PROBABLY LESS EFFECTIVE IN RESTRAINING THE DRIVER. *TR
THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A MECHANIC MAKE SURE ALL TIRES WERE 32 PSI AND RESET THE LIGHT. IT CAME BACK ON 30 MINUTES LATER. PULLED IN THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE DEPT. TOLD ME THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2014'S THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX. GOT HOME AND GOOGLED IT-FORUMS SAY IT IS A GLITCH IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SOFTWARE. NOW CAN I TRUST MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES?? MY CAR IS ONE DAY OLD!!!! VERY FRUSTRATING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS IN THE EVENING HOURS, THE VISIBILITY WAS EXTREMELY LOW WITH THE USE OF THE LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THE CONTACT REPORTED THE SAFETY CONCERN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER MORE THAN ONCE AND THEY PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE CONTACT CHANGED THE BULB FOR THE LOW BEAM, WHICH FAILED TO INCREASE VISIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
APPLY BRAKES FOR NORMAL STOP, EASE OFF THROTTLE PEDAL. WHEN ROAD IS CLEAR, RELEASE BRAKES, APPLY PRESSURE TO THROTTLE PEDAL. NO RESPONSE. ADD PRESSURE - NO RESPONSE. ADD MORE PRESSURE AND FULL SPEED AHEAD. *TR THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PUTS YOU HARD AGAINST THE SEAT, WITH SUDDEN REACTION NEEDED TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WITH THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU GOING THE SAME WAY. ENTERING A FREEWAY COULD BE FUN!!! THIS IS A FREQUENT OCCURANCE, AT ALMOST EVERY STOP AND PROCEED. FROM WHAT I HEAR ABOUT AIR BAGS IN SOME CARS, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION MAY BE A CAUSE OF AIR BAG RELEASE WHICH WOULD COMPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
THIS IS THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. THE FRONT SEAT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO MY COMFORT....IT DOES NOT STAY UP...I NEED TO SIT HIGH AND IT IS IMPOSSBLE TO MAKE IT STAY UP BECAUSE OF WHERE THE LEVER TO ADJUST IT IS. I REALLY DO NOT LIKE THE CAR AT ALL, BUT THE MOST ANNOYING THING IS NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE OVER THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE HAVE BEEN BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST BLEW IT OFF...NOT THIER PROBLEM...I WOULD THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT COULD BE DONE. IT IS ROUGH RIDING WHICH I THINK IS BECAUSE OF THE TIRES ON THE CAR WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE...I HAVE 16,000 UNHAPPY MILES ON THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PUCHAED NEW IN 2013...IT IS A 2014.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST 2014. WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE TIRES NEEDED AIR TURNED ON. WE HAD THE WHEELS INFLATED AND THE LIGHT STILL REMAINED ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID SOMETHING TO MAKE THE LIGHT INDICATING THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE INFLATED TURN OFF. IN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AFTER THAT, THE LIGHT TURNED ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN WE TURNED ON THE IGNITION, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME WE HAVE IGNORED IT. SINCE WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO BE TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER, IT REMAINS ON WHENEVER WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT IS ANNOYING AND CAN BE DANGEROUS.
TPMS WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. STOPPED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. TIRES WERE AT CORRECT PRESSURE. WE WERE SHOWN WHERE THE BUTTON WAS ON THE DASHBOARD TO CLEAR THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TWICE SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT TIME AND WE WERE TOLD THE TIRE PRESSURE ON ALL 4 TIRES WAS FINE AND THEY CANCELED THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. ALL OF THIS AT NO COST TO US. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED I CANCELED THE WARNING LIGHT. THE ISSUE MUST BE A ENGINEERING OR DESIGN FAILURE/PROBLEM OTHERWISE WHY WOULD THEY HAVE A BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD SO THE DRIVER COULD CANCEL THE WARNING LIGHT? WE FEEL WE CAN'T TRUST THE WARNING LIGHT ANYMORE AND QUITE FRANKLY WONDER HOW SAFE THE TIRES AND VEHICLE IS TO DRIVE.
THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) LIGHT HAS COME ON THREE TIMES WHEN THE TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. HONDA HAS NOT PROVIDED A FIX FOR THIS KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY CRV STARTED MAKING GRINDING NOISES WITH IGNITION IN SEPT 2014, APPROX. 6 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM KINGS HONDA IN CINCINNATI, OH. DURING ROUTINE SERVICE AT KINGS HONDA I INQUIRED ABOUT THE GRINDING AND WAS TOLD THAT " IT WAS THE VTC ACTUATOR IN THE CRVS AND THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO HONDA." THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HONDA WAS ISSUING A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM SOON. I HAVEN'T SEEN A RECALL YET AND I WANT THIS PROBLEM FIXED WHILE MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE ADVISE ON WHAT FURTHER ACTION I NEED TO TAKE. THANK YOU *TR

IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. GRINDING NOISE LASTING A FEW SECONDS DURING IGNITION START UP AFTER CAR HAS BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT. BEGAN WHEN CAR WAS 6 MONTHS OLD. HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY WHEN TEMPS ARE BELOW 60
CAR HESITATES RANDOMLY FROM DEAD STOP. STARTS OFF AT ABOUT 2 MPH AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL 5 TO 10 SECONDS EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL. HONDA HAS NO EXPLANATION FOR THE RANDOM OCCURRENCE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 20 TIMES. DOES NOT SHOW UP ON COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. REPLACED 2014 CR-V AFTER 10 WEEKS WITH 2015 CR-V. 2015 MODEL HAS DIFFERENT ISSUES. NO MORE HONDAS!!! TOOK A BIG FINANCIAL HIT ON REPLACING A 2014 CR-V AFTER 10 WEEKS WITH A 2015 CR-V. CAR TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A FIRE HYDRANT, A LIGHT BOX, AND A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A KNEE INJURY AND A FRACTURED ANKLE THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. AFTER STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT, NOTHING HAPPENS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE,THEN CAR JUMPS FORWARD. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES. AM GOING TO MY DEALER TOMORROW. I HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET,SO ITS NOT MY IMAGINATION. *TR
THE ENGINE DOES NOT RESPOND (INTERMITTENTLY) TO THE THROTTLE. THIS MAKES FOR A VERY DICEY SITUATION WHEN TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP, E.G., A TRAFFIC SIGNAL. TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO QUICKLY LET UP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND JUST AS QUICKLY APPLY PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL TO GET THE ENGINE TO RESPOND. DURING THESE EPISODES THE ENGINE IS JUST IDLING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP WHICH PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS. THE ANSWER WAS THE TYPICAL ONE THAT YOU RECEIVE FROM A DEALERSHIP: 'WE COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM". FROM POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET, THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS WITH HONDA VEHICLES. IN FACT A DEALERSHIP SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT HIS BROTHER HAS A HONDA WHICH HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ALMOST FROM THE DAY HE PURCHASED IT. I'M NOT JUST IMAGINING THIS. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY RELAY OR THE THROTTLE BODY ITSELF WHICH WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. THIS ISN'T JUST MY IMAGINATION AT WORK. IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE A DEADLY SITUATION. THANKS. *TR
JUST HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE FOR 2014 HONDA CRV .PURCHASED FEB. 2014.THE RECEIPT STATES I WAS ADVISED OF ONE OR MORE RECALLS AFFECTING THE FRONT AIR BAG INFLATORS. THE REDESIGNED INFLATORS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. WHEN AVAILABLE I WILL BE CONTACTED TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE FOR REPLACEMENT. NOW IF MY OIL CHANGE WASN'T DUE ,WHEN WOULD I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED? IF AT ALL??? WILL BE CONTACTING SERVICE DEPT. TUESDAY.. *TR
VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN PULLING INTO OR ACROSS TRAFFIC. THE HESITATION IS MOMENTARY BUT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

LEAVING FOR 4 HOUR VACATION DRIVE; AS WE WERE ABOUT 60 MILES FROM HOME THE TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM) LOW-TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WE PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF AT A SAFE SPOT, EXAMINE THE TIRES, CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE VACATION ENDED THERE AS WE TURNED AROUND AND CAME HOME BECAUSE WE CAN NO LONGER TRUST THIS VEHICLE. THE TPMS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON SINCE DAY ONE! ORIGINALLY I SUSPECTED THE PRE-DELIVERY TIRE CHECK AND CALIBRATION WAS MISSED SO I PERFORMED IT MYSELF. THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I TOOK IT TO HONDA WHO FOUND NO PROBLEMS AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE CONDITION STATING WE ARE WORKING ON A RE-PROGRAMMING OF THE COMPUTER 12/2013. THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE UNTIL I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE AND CALLED HONDA USA AGAIN WHO MAGICALLY SAID WE HAVE A FIX. BACK TO DEALER WHO INSTALLED A VSA MODULATOR CONTROL UNIT SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR DIFFERENT DRIVING CONDITIONS 6/2014. LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN 8/19/2014 AS STATED ABOVE. CALLED HONDA USA, TOOK TO DEALER TODAY FOR VSA REPAIR KIT FIT USA 13-040. THIS SEEMS FISHY AS IT IS A REPAIR KIT FOR A HONDA FIT NOT SPECIFICALLY FOR A CRV. TIME WILL TELL BUT WE CAN NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE AS I AM HANDICAPPED! *TR

COULD NOT DRIVE ON FREEWAY.TAKING BACK ROADS HOME AND PARKING CAR 15/20 MINUTES LATER STARTED CAR AND CODE WAS OFF .CALLED SERVICE DEPT AND WAS TOLD CAR FIXED IT SELF, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT ALL, EVERYTIME IT RAINS IS IT GOING TO STICK IN 3RD GEAR LIKE IT DID. NEEDS CORRECTED NOW. *TR
SINCE THE DAY I PICKED UP THE NEW CR-V IT HAS HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE LANES IN TRAFFIC OR AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT OCCURS RANDOMLY, 3-4 TIMES A DAY. I WILL BE MOVING AT A MODERATE SPEED, 15 TO 40 MPH, AND WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR GENTLY, THE CAR SLOWS DOWN!! IF I PRESS HARDER, NOTHING HAPPENS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN IT ACCELERATES RAPIDLY! THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO NHTSA ID NUMBER 10608235 BUT OCCURS ONLY WHEN I AM ALREADY MOVING. I'VE TAKEN THE CRV TO 2 DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERS AND THEY TEST DRIVE IT BUT THE PROBLEM DOESN'T HAPPEN SO THEY SAY IT MUST BE "NORMAL". IT ISN'T. IT'S DANGEROUS! SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY UNDERSTANDS HOW THIS VEHICLE WORKS SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. *TR
