GASOLINE DILLUTION OF ENGINE OIL
I BOUGHT A NEW 2017 HONDA CRV IN MAY, 2017. IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED I WASN'T GETTING GOOD MILEAGE AND STARTED CHECKING IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY. I'M ONLY GETTING BETWEEN 16-18 MPG (I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS) AND THE DASH SAYS I'M GETTING 23 (WHICH I'M NOT). THE DEALER NOR NATIONAL HONDA WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SAY THEY DON'T FIND A PROBLEM. ALSO MY BRAKES MAKE NOISES AND I WAS TOLD THE CALIPERS JUST OFF AND IT DOESN'T POSE A SAFETY HAZARD. I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO SELL IT WITH THAT KIND OF NOISE. NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I TRIED TO GO ON THE BBB WEB-SITE BUT IT SAYS THE HONDA HAS TO BE 2012 OR OLDER. WHY? I FEEL STUCK AND WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE MEDIA IF I CAN'T GET THIS RESOLVED. THE DEALER SHOULD BY MY CAR BACK UNDER THE LEMON LAW. SOMEONE HELP ME.
VEHICLE FREQUENTLY RUNS OUT OF BATTERY AND NEED TO JUMP START.
BOUGHT A 2017 HONDA CRV THIS MARCH. DROVE FINE FOR 3 MONTHS & 3K MILES. ON 6/7/17 THE REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT MY WORK PLACE. IT WAS A HOT 92 DEGREE DAY. A COWORKER DROVE BY & HEARD A LOUD POP & SHE NOTICE MY DAMAGED WINDOW & CANE TO NOTIFY ME ASAP. THE GLASS CLEARLY EXPLODED BECAUSE ALL INDICATIONS OF THE BULGING OF GLASS HAS PUFFED OUTWARD FROM MY CAR. THERE'S A HUGE 1 FOOT WIDE HOLE IN THE CENTER LEFT, IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN A CHICK IS HATCHING FROM ITS EGG. THERE'S ONLY 2 CHUNKS OF GLASS BROKEN FROM THE HOLE, ONE INTO CAR, THE OTHER RESTED OUTSIDE THE HOLE ON THE WIPER. IF ANYTHING HITS IT, THE GLASS WOULD OF SHATTERED IN THE CENTER & THE WOULD SHOWS WHITE BIG STRESS-MARKS EXPANDING FROM THE HOLE. YET NONE. MY WHOLE WINDOW SHATTERED STARTING FROM BOTH ENDS OF THE REAR WINDSHIELD, DISCONNECTING THE WHOLE GLASS FROM THE CAR. I WORK AS A QA MEMBER & WE SUPPLY PARTS FOR HONDA. I MEASURE MANY OF THE PARTS WE SUPPLIED. SO I'M NOT STUPID TO MENTION TO HONDA MY GLASS EXPLODED. I DID MY RESEARCH & CAME ACROSS MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS, EVEN SOME WERE REPORTED HERE IN THIS FORUM. I TOOK GREAT PIC & VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENT & SHOWED BOTH MY DEALERSHIP & HONDA CORPORATE & EXPRESSED GREATLY THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. PERHAPS A BAD DEFECT LIKE A BAD DEFROSTING UNIT WHERE IT FAILS TO SHUT OFF AFTER ENGINE SHUTS OFF OR BASICALLY DEFECT WITHIN THE GLASS DURING MANUFACTURING PROCESS WITH NICKEL SULFIDE IN GLASS. HONDA DOES NOT COVER GLASS UNDER THEIR WARRANTIES SO AS SOON AS I MENTION BROKEN GLASS, THEY DIVERT AROUND MY QUESTIONS OR GIVES OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES. I'M A QA MEMBER WHO MAKES & MEASURE PARTS FOR THEM I'M NOT THAT DUMB. YET HONDA WILL NOT INVESTIGATE THIS WHEN IT CLEARLY CONCERN CUSTONER'S SAFETY, MINE TO BE EXACT. NOW I HAVE TO SPENT $500 TO FIX IT & I FELT HONDA COULD OF LOOK INTO THIS, PHYSICALLY. THERE CLEARLY IS A DEFECTED FACTOR SOMEWHERE.

The contact disengaged the braking sensor and continue driving to the residence. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
DRIVER SIDE CUSHION ON UPPER SEAT HAS COLLAPSED. THIS AFFECTS THE OPERATION OF THE SIDE AIR BAG. THE COLLAPSED SUPPORT ALSO MAKES DRIVING UNCOMFORTABLE AND POTENTIALLY A DRIVER SAFETY RISK AS WELL.
WE REPEATABLY HAVE THE SMELL OF GAS IN THE CAR (TUBO-CHARGED CRV) AND IN MY GARAGE AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. I'VE SEEN NO LEAKAGE ON THE GARAGE FLOOR BUT THE SMELL OF GAS IS OVERWHELMING. LIKEWISE IT IS A SICKENING SMELL IN THE CAR. I THINK THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I HAVE A GAS FIRED FURNACE AND HOT WATER HEATER IN THE GARAGE - I OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR TO AIR IT OUT FOR FEAR OF A FIRE. I UNDERSTAND THAT HONDA HAS BEEN LOOKING INTO THE GAS SMELL ISSUE BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. FOR SAFETY SAKE WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE?
FREQUENT NOXIOUS GAS FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IDLE, OR STARTING, THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE CABIN. THIS ISSUE BEGAN A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (FEBRUARY 3) AND HAS HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY ON MAY 28. THE INCIDENT ON MAY 28 WAS SO TOXIC THAT I DEVELOPED A HEADACHE AND HAD TO OPEN ALL WINDOWS TO TRY TO RELIEVE THE ISSUE.
WHERE LEFT REAR PASSENGER ATTACHES SEAT BELT & WHERE CENTER REAR PASSENGER ATTACHES SEATBELT FROM HEADLINER, THE FASTENERS IN THE SEAT ARE SWITCHED. IF CENTER PASSENGER BUCKLES UP FIRST OR IF CARSEAT IS IN CENTER POSITION IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR LEFT REAR PASSENGER TO BUCKLE UP OR UNBUCKLE. THIS IS DUE TO THE ATTACHMENT POINTS BEING SWITCHED WHEN DESIGNED & OR MANUFACTURED. HONDA DEALER SAYS THE CONNECTIONS ARE IN PROPER LOCATION & BELT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THIS WILL MOST LIKELY CAUSE ONE OF FIVE PASSENGERS IN THIS VEHICLE TO NOT BE ABLE TO BUCKLE UP OR UNBUCKLE IN AN EMERGENCY
DRIVING ON THRUWAY ON RAMP OVERPASS AND HEARD A POP...SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED...WAS TOLD DAMAGED FROM IMPACT FROM STONE....I WASN'T NEAR ANY VEHICLES THAT WOULD HAVE THROWN A STONE I WAS BY MYSELF ON THRUWAY OVERPASS DRIVING TO GET ON THRUWAY
I DROVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR COMPUTER GOT STUCK AND THEN STARTED AGAIN GIVING DIFFERENT ERRORS. DEACTIVATED BRAKE SYSTEM, FRAME MISSING GASOLINE, FRAME ROAD STABILIZATION SYSTEM DEACTIVATED AND FINALLY SPEED CONTROL FRAME SPEED A FAULT.
DRIVER'S SEAT HAS COLLAPSED ON LEFT SIDE RIGHT BELOW THE AIR BAG TAG. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER. THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY DID A QUICK FIX, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. DOES THIS PROBLEM AFFECT THE FUNCTION OF THE AIR BAG? I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 4/28/17, AND THE SEAT HAS BEEN MESSED UP FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS.
CAR PARKED AT STORE. PLACED 6 YR OLD CHILD INTO CAR TO UNLOAD CART WITHOUT FEAR OF PARKING LOT DRIVERS. TRUNK OPEN AT THAT POINT. CHILD ASKED FOR A/C (94F OUTSIDE - HOTTER IN CAR). WITH THE REMOTE, I PERFORMED "REMOTE START" SEQUENCE. THIS DID NOT WORK WITH TRUNK OPEN. I CLOSED TRUNK, PERFORMED START SEQUENCE, RE-OPENED TRUNK TO LOAD GROCERIES. AFTER DONE, I CLOSED TRUNK, MOVED CART TO FRONT OF CAR. MEANWHILE, INSIDE CAR, MY CHILD HIT THE START BUTTON. THIS PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO AUXILIARY POWER MODE (THINK RADIO ON WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING). HAZARD TO LIFE: ONCE CAR IS IN AUXILIARY MODE, IF THE DOORS ARE LOCKED, THE CAR CANNOT BE OPENED IN ANY WAY FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE KEY REMOTE WILL NOT WORK OPEN CAR (CAR WILL BEEP ONLY ONCE EACH TIME). TOUCHING HANDLE TO UNLOCK DOES NOT WORK (AGAIN ONE BEEP). THE TRUNK CANNOT BE OPENED WITH REMOTE, WITH THE HANDS-FREE FEATURE, OR WITH THE NORMAL "OPEN BUTTONS" ON TRUNK. CHILD WAS LOCKED IN A HOT CAR WITH NO WAY TO GET TO HER!! CHILD COULD NOT OPEN WINDOWS BY HERSELF (DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULDN'T WORK DUE TO AUXILIARY MODE OR IF SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW). ULTIMATELY I WAS ABLE TO TALK HER THROUGH MANUALLY UNLOCKING DOOR, BUT IF SHE WAS EXPERIENCING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY OR DID NOT HAVE THE INTELLECT, THIS COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD ENDING. I HAVE THE TOP OF THE LINE MODEL, WITH ALL THE OPTIONAL SAFETY FEATURES (MIRRORS, SENSORS, EVERYTHING), YET SOMETHING LIKE THIS STILL HAPPENED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A FAIL SAFE! HOW MANY CHILDREN COULD CLIMB INTO THE CAR AND INADVERTENTLY LOCK THE DOORS WHILE "PLAY DRIVING" BY HITTING THE START BUTTON, PLACING CAR INTO AUXILIARY AND PARENTS CANNOT GET IN TO THEM! OMG HONDA - PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
THE APPLE CARPLAY CONSTANTLY DISCONNECTS MAKING MY PHONE AND NAVIGATION USELESS. THE IPHONE WILL RANDOMLY DISCONNECT AND SOMETIMES NOT REGISTER AS CONNECTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY AND VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE SHIFT KNOB FRACTURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF SLIDELL (510 E HOWZE BEACH RD, SLIDELL, LA 70461, 888-296-2638) AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED AND THE SHIFT KNOB WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURES DURING TWO PREVIOUS VISITS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE BOUGHT OUR CRV FROM HONDA OF FIFE ON 9 APRIL 2017. SINCE THAT TIME, OUR CAR HAS HAD THREE STALLS. THE FIRST TWO WERE DURING THE MONTH OF MAY, 2017 AS WE WERE TRAVELLING AT SLOW RATES OF SPEED IN BLIZZARD AND HEAVY SNOW CONDITIONS IN MONTANA AND ALBERTA; THE TEMPERATURES WERE MILD, FOR SNOW STORMS, PROBABLY IN THE MID TO HIGH 20S F. IN BOTH OF THESE INSTANCES, THE VISIBILITY WAS ABOUT 100' AND WE WERE ALONE ON THESE ROADS; HOWEVER, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS TO BE PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IF ANYONE ELSE HAD BEEN COMING OUT OF THE WHITE OF THE STORM; IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. I'D THOUGHT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE POOR OR FROZEN FUEL SO DIDN'T REPORT THE ISSUE TO HONDA. THE THIRD TIME THE CRV STALLED WAS ON THE I-10 BRIDGE OVER THE MISSISSIPPI AT BATON ROUGE, LA.IN MARCH OF 2018.THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 60S. IN THIS CASE, WE WERE IN VERY SLOW, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, IN A VERY TIGHT, NARROW LANE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION; THERE WERE NO TURN OUTS OR VERGES. AS WE STARTED THE CLIMB UP THE WEST SIDE OF THE BRIDGE, THE CAR STALLED , THERE WERE NO STOP LIGHTS OR BRAKES APPLIED AS I HAD NO WARNING THE CAR WAS GOING TO QUIT AND THE CAR BEHIND ME, BARELY STOPPED BEFORE REAR ENDING US. IT STARTED AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND WE DID NOT CREATE A LONG TERM IMPEDIMENT TO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. AGAIN, I DID NOT REPORT THIS ISSUE AS I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE POOR FUEL. AMERICAN HONDA HAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH GAS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE OIL TOO; A DEALER NOTED THAT OUR OIL SMELLED OF GAS; WE DO NOT KNOW THE LONG TERM AFFECTS ON THE ENGINE OR ANY HAZARDS THE CONDITION POSES. *JS *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHECKERED FLAG HONDA DEALER, WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE REAR LEFT AND MIDDLE SEAT BELTS OVERLAP. THE VEHICLE IS ADVERTISED AS A 5 SEATER VEHICLE BUT CANNOT SAFELY BE USED FOR 5 PASSENGERS, OR WITH A CAR SEAT IN EITHER OF THOSE SEATS WITH A PASSENGER IN THE OTHER ONE.
MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING WARNING INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGIN TO FLASH (ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM, LANE KEEP ASSIST SYSTEM, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM AND BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THESE SYSTEMS NO LONGER FUNCTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH AND LOW SPEED WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND OFF, ON HIGHWAYS AND FREEWAYS. EACH TIME, I FIND A PLACE TO STOP, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON AGAIN AND THE SYSTEMS ARE FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES, THE FIRST BEING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE NEW AND THE LAST BEING YESTERDAY (2 1/2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE) I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND FIND NO ERROR CODES SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE. DOCUMENTATION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE DEALER ON EACH VISIT. THIS DEFINITELY SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OTHER ELECTRONIC ISSUES AS WELL WHICH I WILL ADDRESS IN ANOTHER COMPLAINT.
GASOLINE GETS INTO ENGINE OIL. OIL DIPSTICK SHOWS OIL LEVEL .5 TO 1.0 QUARTS OVER FULL LEVEL AFTER 2200 MILES OF DRIVING. OIL IS VERY BLACK AND WATERY AND SMELLS OF GASOLINE.

THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 05988063. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. UPDATED 06/07/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO USE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT IN ORDER TO LATCH AND SECURE THE BUCKLE, THE BELT HAD TO UNDER LAP THE REAR SEAT CENTER BELT. THE ISSUE MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (AUTONATION HONDA IN WESTMINSTER, CO), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
OIL DILUTION. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY MY DEALER AND HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT GAS IS DILUTING THE OIL. THIS IS HAPPENING ABOUT EVERY 500 MILES IN WARM 70+ DEGREE WEATHER, BUT HAPPENS SOONER IN COLDER WEATHER. BECAUSE IT'S A PAIN TO CONSTANTLY REPLACE THE OIL AND FILTER, I HAVE ONLY BEEN DOING IT EVERY 500 MILES. I DO CHECK THE DIPSTICK EVERY SO OFTEN TO MONITOR THE FLUID LEVEL IN THE ENGINE.
REAR PASSENGER SEAT BEHIND DRIVER AND MIDDLE PASSENGER SEAT BELT FASTENERS ARE FLIPPED. NO ONE CAN SIT BEHIND THE DRIVER AND USE A SEAT BELT.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the ABS was causing her to brake intermittently. The contact stated that the failure occurred approximately 3 times since purchasing the vehicle in 2017. The contact stated that the most recent time the failure occurred, it almost caused a vehicle to crash. The contact stated that she contacted the dealer who advised her that there were no recalls on her model vehicle that were known to have the failure she was experiencing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
WHEN USING THE NAVIGATION THE NAVIGATION VOICE VOLUME IS TOO LOW. CAUSING YOU TO BRAKE WHEN MISSING A TURN. I ALMOST HAD SOMEONE RUN INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR!
BRAND NEW 2017 CR-V TOURING, SECOND NIGHT HOME. BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINED WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT AND HAD TO CHARGE BATTERY TO START. TOOK TO DEALER, WHO DID A BATTERY TEST AND FOUND NO ISSUE. THERE IS A HONDA TSB CAMPAIGN, BUT HONDA TELLS ME MY VIN IS OUT OF RANGE AND IS NOT COVERED -- EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL. THEY WILL NOT OFFER SERVICE UNTIL THE VIN IS WITHIN RANGE. REFERENCE HONDA TSB-032 "PARASITIC BATTERY DRAW FROM VSA MODULATOR" HONDA AMERICA SUPPORT SUGGESTED I REPORT THIS TO NHTSA, FOR SOME REASON. STATED THAT IF THEY RECEIVE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS FOR A VIN RANGE IT COULD BE EXPANDED. (THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME SINCE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM.)
CURRENT MILES = 4K. 1= BATTERY WENT DEAD SEVERAL TIMES, WAS TOLD UPDATE WAS DONE BECAUSE ISSUE W/PARKING BRAKE CIRCUITRY. 2= VARIOUS DRIVER ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY ON DASH.-ISSUE NOT IDENTIFIED NOR FIXED. (ONGOING) 3= RECENTLY PULLED OVER BY POLICE NIGHTTIME-NO TAIL LIGHTS, THOUGH FRONT LIGHTS WORKED- DRIVER OF CAR WAS NOT FAMILIAR W/CAR- POLICE FIDDLED W/ LIGHTSWITCH GOT THEM WORKING TOLD DRIVER TO TAKE IT TO DEALER-NO TICKET ISSUED. 4= NOTICEABLE LACK OF ACCELERATION, FUEL ODOR ABOUT VEHICLE, ALSO SULPHUR SMELL AFTER DRIVING, HEAT DOES NOT WARM CABIN, NOR DEFROST.DEFOG WINDSHIELD PROPERLY, OIL BLACK AND OVERFULL. AGAIN-THERE IS ONLY 4K MILES ON THIS 'VEHICLE'. ALL THESE ISSUES RELATE TO SAFETY, EITHER TO ANYONE INSIDE THE VEHICLE OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING THIS (PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO CLUSTER,DRIVING SUBTLETIES ETC THAN TRAFFIC), AND AM VERY UPSET IN PAYING THE PAYMENT EACH MONTH WHILE HEARING THE 2 DEALERS BLAME EACH OTHER, AND WHILE HONDA SHRUGS THEIR SHOULDERS. I AM TAKING IT, ONCE AGAIN, TO THE DEALER THIS SATURDAY FOR AN 'UPDATE' TO THE SOFTWARE-PER HONDA CASE MGR NAOMI XT 87075. DOCUMENTATION CAN BE PROVIDED ON REQUEST-- I AM OUT OF TIME AND PATIENCE. INTERMITTENTLY THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND SEAT BELT WARNING FOR FRONT PASSENGER FAILS TO OPERATE FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME. THE ERROR HAS SELF CORRECTED SPONTANEOUSLY AFTER 20 MINUTES AND UP TO AN HOUR AND A HALF OF DRIVING. THIS HAS ALWAYS OCCURRED WITH AN ADULT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE HONDA DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ERROR, BUT HAS SEEN OUR PHOTO AND VIDEO SHOWING THE PROBLEM. HONDA USA OPENED AND CLOSED THE CASE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT REPRODUCIBLE AT OUR DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD THAT VIDEO CANNOT BE USED AS PROOF. (PHOTOS AND VIDEO ARE ON OUR PHONE. WHILE DRIVING @ 35 MPH ON THE PARKWAY I HEARD A LOUD POP COMING FROM THE ROOF AREA OF THE CAR. I THEN OPEN TO SUNROOF SCREEN TO FIND THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED BUT DID NOT SEE ANY TREE BRANCH IN SITE. THE ROOF HAVE NO DENT OR SCRATCH ON IT WITH WAS WEIRD. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT IT COULD BE "EXPLODING SUNROOF" ISSUE.
THE REAR CENTER PASSENGER'S LEFT SEAT BELT BUCKLE ANCHOR IS REVERSED MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY BUCKLE 3 PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS MY CENTER PASSENGERS, FINDING IT A HERCULEAN FEAT WHEN SEATED, OFTEN DECLINE TO BUCKLE UP. I'VE INCLUDED TWO PHOTOS OF THIS BUCKLE SHOWING THIS CONDITION. AS SEEN WHEN BUCKLED W/O A PASSENGER, THE BELTS OVERLAP. BECAUSE OF THIS THE CENTER PASSENGER'S BODY PREVENTS ACCESS TO THE BUCKLE AS IT IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE STRAP OF THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER. I UNDERSTAND THAT HONDA DESIGNED IT THIS WAY TO PROVIDE WIDER SEATING FOR THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER. HOWEVER, THIS DESIGN IS DANGEROUS AND IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO FATALITIES. ALSO I'M TOLD THAT THE HONDA ACCURA'S DESIGN IS CORRECT.
THE WINDSHIELD HAS SOME SORT OF DEFECT AT THE DRIVERS EYE LEVEL. CAUSES DISTORTED VIEW OF ROAD AND OTHER VEHICLES. RON TONKIN HONDA HAS TAKEN PICTURES BUT THE HONDA REP NEVER SHOWS UP IN PORTLAND
MY MOTHER AND I TRAVELED TO VISIT MY DAUGHTER THAT LIVES 3 1/2 HOURS AWAY. MY MOTHER SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT FOR THE 7 HOUR TRIP UP AND BACK. THE AMBER OR YELLOW LIGHT ON THE DASH "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" WAS LIGHTED THE ENTIRE TIME THAT MY MOTHER WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ADMITTED SHE ONLY WEIGHS 100 LBS AND IS 86 YEARS OLD, BUT SHE IS CLEARLY AN ADULT AND SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY AN AIRBAG DEPLOYING IN CASE OF A SERIOUS CRASH. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING IN A CRASH COULD LITERALLY MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (ROBERTSON HONDA 5841 LANKERSHIM BLVD, NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA 91601), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,200.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR DOES NOT TURN OFF, THEREFORE THE AIRBAG DOES NOT ACTIVATE, WHEN A PERSON WEIGHING SIGNIFICANTLY MORE (100LBS) THAN THE STATED THRESHOLD OF 65LBS AS DESCRIBED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE PASSENGER IS NOT PROTECTED BY THE AIRBAG. HONDA DEALER CLAIMS THE WEIGHT SENSOR IS CORRECTLY CALIBRATED AND WORKING PROPERLY ACCORDING TO HONDA. THE CONCERN IS THAT THIS TOLERANCE OF MORE THAN 35LBS IS WAY TOO HIGH AND THE AIRBAG NEEDS TO ACTIVATE MUCH CLOSER TO THE STATED THRESHOLD OF 65LBS.
I cannot check off enough of the listings of problems with this car. I believe that they are all connected to one central computer malfunction in the vehicle ADAS system. This car was purchased new I first reported it to Honda we had 500 miles on the car. made periodic completes since with the only answer provided was nothing wrong however they did perform a radio update wow. So the problem is I have every warning light going off in the car from lane departure, hill assist start, front end collision, Brakes, airbags, Engine, cruise control, stability along with others. afraid to drive the car for i am not sure what the computer is going to do next accelerate or sudden stop. I can provide vehicle for inspection the symptoms are sporadic
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MESSAGE SAID EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM AND THE HEADLIGHTS GOT HIGH AND THEN LOW AND THEN HIGH AND THEN LOW. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID THAT RODENTS CHEWED THE ENGINE MAIN WIRING HARNESS AND WOULD COST $1,000 TO REPLACE. IF THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE ENGINE IS NOT PROTECTED THAT COULD EASILY START A FIRE AFTER IT HAS BEEN CHEWED BY RODENTS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HARNESS IS NOT PROTECTED AGAINST RODENTS. I LIVE IN A CONDO WITH A PRIVATE PARKING SPOT. I HAVE BEEN HERE 17 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THE CAR A MONTH AGO. IT IS POSSIBLE IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP BUT NO WAY OF KNOWING. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE WIRING HARNESS COVERED WITH A PROTECTION OF SOME SORT. I AM RETIRED SO I HARDLY USE THE CAR. IT IS PARKED MOST OF THE TIME IN MY PARKING SPOT.
WEATHER TECK DRIVER FLOOR MAT. WHEN PASSING DOES NOT ALLOW ACELL. PEDAL TO FULLY BOTTOM. THUS FULL POWER IS NOT AVAILABLE. BUMP IN MAT STOPS FULL ACELL. PEDAL TRAVEL.
TEST DROVE THE CAR AND DIDN'T SMELL DUE TO USING A/C. ON DAY OF PURCHASE, I CHANGED THE AIR TO RECIRCULATE IN CABIN. THAT IS WHEN THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS WITH RECIRCULATING AIR ON. IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES I DID NOT NOTICE THE SMELL AND ASSUMED IT WAS THE "BRAND NEW" CAR SMELL BUT LATER AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SMELL BECAME VERY NOTICEABLE AND CAUSED ME TO FEEL DIZZY AND ALMOST VOMIT. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE CAR TO SEE WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM AND NOTICED THE SMELL WAS MAINLY IN THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER AREA, WHERE MY 3 MONTH OLD CHILD AND WIFE WERE SITTING! I OPENED ALL THE DOORS AND FOR SOME REASON CHANGED AIR VENT FROM RECIRCULATING TO FRESH AIR MODE. WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND CALLED SALESMAN BUT HE COULD NOT HELP ME WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TELLING ME TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING. I HAD WORK IN THE MORNING SO I DECIDED TO JUST BEAR WITH IT AND OPEN THE WINDOWS IF THE SMELL BECAME TOO UNBEARABLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES, THE SMELL STARTED TO SLOWLY FADE AWAY. I HAVE YET TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND WILL SEE IF THE GAS SMELL COMES BACK WITH THE RECIRCULATING MODE ON. ALSO, THE SMELL WAS NOT NOTICEABLE WITH ENGINE OFF, SINCE THE AIR VENTS WERE ALSO OFF.
THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR EMITS SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN PULLING ON THE DOOR PULL TO OPEN THE DOOR. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION, I SAW THAT THE POST FROM THE DOOR PULL HANDLE RUBS AGAINST THE CUTOUT HOLE IN THE DOOR PANEL. THIS MEANS THE ASSEMBLY OF THE DOOR HANDLE WAS OFF, OR THE CUTOUT WAS LOCATED WRONG. THE DEALER LOOSENED THE DOOR HANDLE TO READJUST ITS POSITION, BUT IT STILL SQUEAKS SOMETIMES. I CAN SEE THAT THE POST IS SLIGHTLY ADJUSTED AWAY FROM THE CUTOUT, BUT IT NOT AS FAR AWAY AS ON THE OTHER DOOR HANDLES. I SUSPECT THAT THE CUTOUT WAS LOCATED WRONG, WHEN THE HOLE WAS CUT IN MANUFACTURING.
COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING WHEN DRIVING OVER METAL PLATES: DURING CONSTRUCTION, METAL PLATES WERE PUT ON THE ROAD WHERE I WORK. THEY DO NOT STICK OUT, AREA FLUSH WITH THE STREET, AND ARE ABOUT 4 FEET WIDE. EVERY TIME I GET CLOSE TO DRIVE STRAIGHT OVER THEM (AT PROBABLY 20-25 MPH), MY CAR SLAMS ONTO THE BRAKES AND COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. IF ANYBODY WERE BEHIND ME, THEY WOULD REAR-END ME. A COLLEAGUE OF MINE BOUGHT THE SAME CAR AND HAS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD MY CAR CHECKED OUT AT A HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. THE SYSTEM CANNOT BE TURNED OFF PERMANENTLY, SO I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF MANUALLY EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS SOMEBODY WILL GET HURT SOON IF SOMEBODY IS BEHIND ME AND THERE IS NO REASON I WOULD COME TO SUCH AN ABRUPT STOP.
DRIVING MY 2017 CRV EX HOME FROM WORK. STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL TURNED GREEN, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND A MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE". THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET AND TRIED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT WAS FROZEN AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN 'PARK', AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEASED THE VEHICLE. THE SALES REP SUGGESTED I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT. I DID THAT AND ALL SYSTEMS SEEMED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. I LATER TOOK MY CRV BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK BUT FOUND NO DEFINITIVE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN COULD ONLY SAY THE COMPUTER INDICATED SOMETHING HAD OCCURRED BUT COULD SAY WHAT, OR WHY, OR WHETHER IT MIGHT OCCUR AGAIN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, AND EVERYTHING SEEMED OK, AND "HAVE A NICE DAY!" NOW I AM ANXIOUS WHEN I DRIVE WONDERING IF, OR WHEN, THE BRAKE SYSTEM MIGHT FAIL AGAIN. IS IT JUST MY CRV, OR HAS THIS ISSUE BEEN REPORTED BY ANYONE ELSE? THIS ISSUE, SHOULD IT OCCUR AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS CRASH SITUATION.
WITHOUT ANY REASON THE AUTOBRAKING/COLLISION SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED TWICE WHEN NO CARS OR ANIMALS ON THE ROAD ONE TIME GOING 55MPH AND ANOTHER TIME GOING APPROX. 40MPG. IN ADDITION THE DISPLAY SCREEN (RADIO ETC.) DOES NOT DIM. IT STAYS FULL BRIGHTNESS EVEN WITH ADJUSTING IT. HONDA HAD TO FIX WHEN VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW AFTER I HAD TO FIGHT WITH THEM THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE SCREEN BLINDS ME AT NIGHT BECAUSE IT IS VERY BRIGHT SO YOU CAN'T REALLY SEE THE ROAD. THIS STAYS BRIGHT STOPPED OR MOVING. LASTLY, NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BUT AUTO HIGH BEAMS ALSO HAD AN ERROR WHILE DRIVING.
RODENTS KEEP CHEWING THROUGH AIR HOSES FOR THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN A WEEK DESPITE TRAPS, RODENT DETERRENT, ETC.

ALERTING THAT A CAR IS NEXT TO YOU WHILE DRIVING CITY AND COUNTRY, NO ALERT OR DRIVER ASSIST SAFETY FEATURE WHEN A CAR PULLED OUT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME CROSSING TRAFFIC WHEN ANTILOCK BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY AND GOT STOPPED WITHIN 3 FEET OF OTHER VEHICLE, CAR LOCKED ME INSIDE AFTER DRIVING TO WORK.....I HAVE AVAILABLE VIDEOS OF MANY OF THESE ISSUES AVAILABLE AND THEY'VE BEEN FORWARDED TO HONDA CASE #08447969 AND THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO FINALLY HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALER DIAGNOSING THE OIL DILUTION. THEY TOLD ME TO DRIVE THE CAR AND BRING IT IN EVERY TIME THE DIP STICK GOES ABOVE THE FILL LINE. NO OTHER ISSUES WERE ADDRESSED AND SHOW AS UNDIAGNOSED
THE VEHICLE IS PROVIDED WITH A BLUETOOTH CAPABILITY TO PROVIDE SAFE HANDS FREE USE OF A CELL PHONE. HOWEVER, WITHIN A MINUTE OF INITIATION OF THE BLUETOOTH WITH A STANDARD ANDROID PHONE (SAMSUNG) THE SYSTEM SELF DISCONNECTS THERE-BY RENDERING THE HANDS FREE CAPABILITY NON OPERATIONAL. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHETHER MOVING OR STATIONARY. BOTH THE DEALER AND HONDA FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND CHECKING ON THE INTERNET INDICATES THAT THIS EXACT UNSAFE CONDITION HAS BEEN KNOW TO HONDA FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS. THIS ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FAULT IS AS MUCH OF A SAFETY ISSUE AS FAULTY BRAKES, ETC.
REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT ATTACHMENT POINTS SAFETY HAZARD FOR LEFT REAR PASSENGER: THE CONNECTION POINTS FOR THE CENTER REAR PASSENGER AND LEFT REAR PASSENGER CROSS CAUSING THE LEFT PASSENGER TO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE RELEASE BUTTON OR ABILITY TO PROPERLY CONNECT THEIR SEAT BELT IF THE CENTER PASSENGER SECURES THEIR SEAT BELT FIRST. SHOULD THE LEFT PASSENGER WANT TO DISCONNECT THEIR SEAT BELT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT UNLESS THE CENTER PASSENGER DISCONNECTS THEIR SEAT BELT FIRST. I CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER CARE LINE AT 1-800-999-1009 AND WAS INFORMED NO FIX WAS AVAILABLE, BUT THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE ISSUE.

The contact stated his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and turning left, the driver was no longer able to accelerate due to the Anti-lock braking system automatically activating and another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side. The air bags did deploy. No one was injured. No medical treatment was needed at the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a towed yard where it was later deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8.
THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ('AIR BAG OFF') DOES NOT OPERATE CONSISTENTLY. A 112 POUND PASSENGER REGULARLY RIDES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THIS VEHICLE. SOMETIMES WHEN THIS PASSENGER IS PRESENT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ('AIRBAG OFF') ILLUMINATES AND STAYS ILLUMINATED DURING TRAVEL. AT OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AT ALL DURING TRIPS WHEN THE PASSENGER IS PRESENT. THE INDICATOR LIGHT IS MORE LIKELY TO REMAIN ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED BEFORE THE PASSENGER ENTERS THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR 4 MONTHS.
