As of a month ago, when doing left turns the vehicle turning was increasingly stiffened. When driving, the steering wheel slightly locks requiring extra force to take turns even if slightly. Recently, there has been increased stiffness when making right turns and a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel. The vehicle was brought into the local Honda dealership and after diagnosis, it was discovered that the issue is common with the year as there is a current recall on vehicles of the same year, however, the VIN of our vehicle is not included. The issue as stated by the dealership is, "gearbox is binding internal causing lock-up in the steering wheel." It was recommended to service the vehicle as it is unsafe to drive. This issue is unable to be fixed currently as the part is on backorder due to the high volume of vehicles affected by the recall. We were told to contact Honda to inform them about the issue and to discuss what can be done as it is occurring in other vehicles affected by the recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed around a curve, the passenger's side upper control arm fractured. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
The steering wheel feels like it’s catching/sticking when driving. I felt like I was losing control of my Honda when driving on Interstate at speed of 60-65. Had to go at Lower speed just to get back home safely. Cancelled our trip. When turned wheel to left, I also felt it was sticking. Husband felt it on interstate too. I have brand new tires and wheel alignment, still problem. I had enough. Car only has 40115 miles on it. I took in Pensacola Honda dealership 05/29/24 they said the Steering gear motor has to be replaced. It not under warranty for us and very expensive.
Tried calling the advertised number on your website: 1 888 327 4236 for online complaints but its rings and stops. I have been receiving letters from Honda for a couple of months for a safety recall pertaining o fuel pump. In this period, I took my vehicle ([XXX], 2024) for major servicing and my vehicle was not serviced for recall quoting "Unavailability of spare parts". This month ([XXX], 2024) specifically scheduled my vehicle for safety recall servicing. Got a call from the dealer again stating "Unavailability of spare parts" and that they will call me. I have received a recall notice from Honda again yesterday. In effect, they are complying with NHTSA recall, however not servicing vehicles on the ground for no fault of the consumer. Given the seriousness of the problem, I fear my vehicle might just stall one day. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving on the way home from work and without cause my car braked suddenly propelling me forward and my items to the floor. I blew my horn to alert the car behind me and thankfully no one rear-ended me or any other vehicle. It stayed on brake for approximately 20 seconds before it released the brake for me to move out of the road.
While freeway driving steering wheel sticks, needs extra effort to move.

I was reversing and waiting for cars to pass with my hand on the gear control when it moved without me holding the button. As I was on the road, I was curious and was able to move it without my foot on the brake and without holding the button. This was all in the same ride. Later, the gear shift moved sometimes still but not all the time as it did the first time. I have never had this happen, so something seems wrong. The car is a 2018 model, so it is not that old and this worries me so I wanted to file this.

While driving on a 4 lane road on a sunny day, the vehicle detected an imminent collision ahead on a clear-road. The CRV did a hard-brake bringing the speed from around 40 MPH to 20 MPH. If a car had been directly behind us, the chance of a collision would have been high because it was very unexpected place to brake. This component has not been investigated by Honda yet - I'm reporting it first here. I have dash-cam footage I can provide but do not see a place to upload that on this form.
Steering wheel is jerky. Seems to hesitate. When I took it to the dealership they knew exactly what was wrong. Stated that is a problem they are currently investigating for a recall on the 22-24 models but it doesn't include the 2018.

On my 2018 Honda CR-V EX noticed car almost stalling when stepping on accelerator. Took vehicle to dealership and was told it was the Fuel Injectors failing. The dealership said it is the EXACT SAME Fuel Injectors that are on the 2018 Honda Accord that are part of a Recall due to safety concerns BUT that Honda has NOT issued a Recall for the CR-V, even though it has the EXACT SAME Fuel Injectors as the Accord. They were no warning lamps or messages. The cost to repair this issue was $1,273.57 to Repair the Fuel Injectors, which I paid directly to the dealership.

I would like to trade my current vehicle for a newer model, however due to an "active recall" that will not be available for repair until fall 2024, I cannot get market value for my vehicle.
Concerning my 2018 CR-V, with about 42,000 miles. While driving the steering wheel hesitates and then releases. This has gotten progressively worse over the last month. The local dealer diagnosed it as "internal steering rack failure." I was surprised that there isn't a recall on this model. A vehicle of this age and mileage should not have problems like this. It is obviously a manufacturers defect. Lack of steering control is a safety issue and I believe Honda should recall this model for repair at their expense.
Electronic Power Steering Rack. The internal failure in the EPS caused rough steering and sometimes steering would get stuck putting my self as well as other motorists and pedestrians at risk of being injured. The problem was confirmed by a Honda dealer. There was no warning lamps or messages prior to this failure.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The local Honda dealer Fort Walton Beach Florida has 120 steering racks on back order and $3600 to repair the vehicle.
The fuel injectors caused engine ecm to set codes for missfire and cylinder inbalance. as a result of the car disabled all adas systems such as lane keep lane departure ,forward colision alerts, parking brake, cruise control. 11 different warning messages scrolled across dash.Car was diagnosed at independant import specialist garage as needing fuel injectors. Car has 82,000 miles. Garage told me this was common on hondas and honda had extended warranty on the fuel injectors on v6 cars ,but not on 1.5 4cyl cars. I purchased this car new with expectations of increased safety, however when a part failure shuts these systems down it defeats that purpose. I have driven mutiple cars to 300,000+ miles and never had to replace fuel injectors. just google crv fuel injector problems and you will see i am not the only case of this

My car was well maintained with less than 40k miles. One evening, when I was trying to get back home from my office, my car didn't start. I called a Honda dealer. They suspected battery issues and jump-start requirements. I called my AAA insurance for roadside assistance. They did jump-start the car and said my battery was completely DEAD. Charged me around 213$ for a battery replacement. I drove back home. The next day morning, my car didn't start again! I had to get the car towed to my dealership. The dealer was unable to figure out what went wrong. He kept the car under his observation for a night and it worked fine. When I went to collect the car after payment of about 120$ (diagnosis, cleaning, and testing charges by the dealership), the car turned on by itself with a blinking red light on the dashboard along with a battery and other lamp symbols turned on. The dealer said he found the root cause and said it could be a BCM Module issue. The BCM Module is supposed to coordinate and function many electronic safety components in the car. The car's electric components turn on by themselves and drain out the battery!! I was very shocked to see BCM's failure and it could have potential SAFETY HAZARDS for consumers!! Please look into this issue.
Steering sticks in position while driving down the road. Have to overcompensate with pressure while turning the steering wheel to get it to release. Very dangerous when going around curves. Car wants to go off the road. Car was taken to Honda dealership where mechanic confirmed issue and recommend electric power steering rack be replaced.
All of the warning lights and maintenance lights turn on at all times during driving. I have taken it to the dealer multiple times and after changing the fuel injectors, the light supposedly seemed to stay off. The day after I got it back from the dealer, all the lights started flashing again, the car stalled and lost power in the middle of the road. Pressing on the gas would not do anything. The car was essentially in neutral. I was able to turn it off and then on again and took it back to the dealer once the recall came for the fuel pump, to have the part changed. I was told they couldn’t change it, even though it was recalled, because they found that it didn’t need to be changed.
Multi purpose camera failure that impacts the safety features in my vehicle. Many people have reported this, however Honda still hasn’t created a recall on it. Dealership wants $1900 to replace, but this is a safety feature how is this not on Honda to handle?

I was notified by Honda that the fuel pump on my 2018 Honda CR-V would be replaced when replacement pumps became available. That was in May of 2024. As of this writing, I have not heard from my local dealer (Honda World, Louisville, KY) or Honda corporate about the availability of a replacement.
I received the "Important Safety Recall" notice in May 2024. I immediately called my Honda Dealer and was told that parts were on order, and I would be notified when available, however, the approximate date for resolution was in the Fall. I have called 4 times and received the same answer. Here we are in November 2024 and still no resolution. I am always asked if my vehicle is stalling, hesitating or loss of drive power, or wait for my vehicle to burst into flames potentially causing serious injury or possible death. I am very concerned about the safety issues this could cause. I very frequently have my young grandchildren in my vehicle. I don't understand the alleged shortage of parts...aren't new vehicles manufactured all the time? Do they not require fuel pumps? Thank you for your assistance with my safety concern.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with several warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were available; however, the contact was informed that only the low-pressure fuel pump was under recall and not the high-pressure fuel pump, which was the cause of the failure. The contact was then given an estimate for the repair even though the vehicle was under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to another dealer for assistance. The other dealer was notified, and the contact was given the same information as the previous dealer had provided. The vehicle was not repaired or serviced under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

While the contact's daughter was driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact's daughter that since there was no warning light illuminated, a diagnostic test needed to be performed on the vehicle even though the failure was linked to the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving on the interstate the engine lost power and entered some sort of limp or low power mode. There were no warnings or indications of any problems on the dashboard. I was in heavy traffic at the time and suddenly a risk to others on the road and myself as the vehicle slowed dramatically despite my attempts to keep up with the flow of traffic. I had the dealer look at the vehicle and they indicated that the headgasket was in the early stages of failing. They indicated that the low power mode was due to engine misfires due to coolant in the combustion chamber. They did not have any explanation as to why a malfunction indicator light was not set nor did a light ever set. No check engine lights, no messages on the driver instrumentation display.

Was driving and car started braking and dash was flashing "brake". The car in front of me was much further ahead and there was nothing else in the way. There was no reason for the car to use emergency braking. The car behind me was able to stop, so I did not get hit. I contacted dealer and they said it is not a known issue.
Unable to receive fixed fuel pump despite recall since December. No dealership able to provide estimate on remedy.

When making a steering correction, there is a tendency for the steering to get stuck in a fixed position for a brief period. It takes an abnormal level of force to overcome this stickiness before it becomes un-stuck and allows a steering change. As a result, there is some jerkiness in the steering, which presents a significant safety issue. It is more noticeable at higher speeds and can be a bit alarming, and a potential collision hazard, particularly if surrounded by other vehicles on a major highway, which I have experienced with this vehicle. I have not yet taken it to a dealer or service provider but have read several forums on-line and tried some of the recommended remedies, such as adjusting the steering column and turning the wheel slowly through full motion, which did not resolve the issue.
There is persistent sticky steering issue with my 2018 CRV. It started around 45,000 miles. My steering wheel feels as if it gets stuck when making slight turns. It is very difficult to drive a straight line due to constantly fighting the steering. I have complained several times over the past several years at the Honda dealership and each time I was told they couldn’t mimic or find the problem. I just went back in and demanded to ride along with a tech because it’s getting worse. They are telling me it needs a new rack and pinion and the cost is $3700 because it’s out of warranty.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 - 70 MPH, the steering wheel was stuck while veering towards the left or the right. While turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with steering rack failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched and found several similar recalls for the issue, but the VIN was not included. The contact learned that the failure was primarily caused by the steering gearbox failure, but the dealer had not yet determined if the steering gear needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,500.
