BATTERIES FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO START.*ET
LIGHT ON CLOCK NOT WORKING CAN NOT READ CLOCK--I AM CONCERNED THERE MAY BE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND SINCE THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE PANEL OFF TO FIX WANT CHARGE WAY TO MUCH TO FIX A LIGHT. PROBLEM 2 THE REAR WINDSHIELD MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN ON. *LA
THE CAR LURCHES WHEN ACCELARATING FROM A STANDING STOP. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS CATCHING, AND IS A JERKY MOVEMENT. HAS GOTTEN WORSE IN 2004 WHEN THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AT LEAST THREE TIMES. *AK WE BOUGHT THE CAR "NEW" FROM WHAT WAS APPARENTLY CANADIAN INV ENTORY. WE WERE TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS CANADIAN THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY DID NOT APPLY AND THE DEALER PROVIDED 3RD PARTY COVERAGE. WHILE WE DID REPORT THE ISSUE DURING THE COVERAGE PERIOD, IT WAS NOT CLEAR WHAT EXACTLY IT WAS (AT LEAST TO US) AND WAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. ONLY IN 2004 HAVE WE AND THE DEALER CONCLUDED IT WAS DEFINATELY A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. HONDA USA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS A "GRAY MARKET VECHICLE" AND SAID WE MUST DEAL WITH HONDA CANADA, AND HONDA CANADA SAYS IT IS A US PROBLEM AND WON'T DEAL WITH IT. WHILE THE DEALER IS SUPPORTIVE AND THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS WORKED WITH US, THEY DIRECT US TO THE MANUFACTURER AS THEY SAY THE THIRD PARTY COVERAGE HAS EXPIRED AND THE GRAY MARKET VECHICLE HAS NO WARRANTY. I FEEL I HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT NEITHER HONDA OR THE DEALER WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR VECHICLE. WHEN I DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH HONDA CANADA, THEY TOLD ME THE VIN INDICATED THAT A PREVIOUS OWNER WAS BUDGET RENTAL CARS, SO HOW THEY ARE INVOLVED IN THE SHIFTING OF DEALER INVENTORY IS QUESTIONABLE AT BEST. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE ALLOWED TO OPERATE IN THIS WAY, AND WHY THE MANUFACTURER AND/OR THE DEALER WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND ADDRESS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR WITH 65,000 MILES, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH ALL SCHEDULED SERVICE.
MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A CASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE RIGHT FRONT SUSSPENSION. THE WHEEL BUCKELED UNDER THE CAR AFTER THE SUSPENSION BROKE. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT 30MPH AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. HONDA DID NOT INTERVIEW HER OR THE POLICE OFFICER TO GET ANY INFORMATION RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THEY LOOKED AT THE CAR IN THE SHOP AND SAID MY WIFE HIT SOMETHING TO CAUSE THE FAILURE. BOTH SHE AND THE POLICE OFFICER DISAGREE WITH THEIR ASSESSMENT. I AM DISAPOINTED THAT HONDA WAS NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING WITH MY WIFE ABOUT THE FAILURE AND PLACING BLAME ON HER FOR THIS FAILURE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE DRASTIC IF SHE HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IF VEHICLE STOPS THERE IS A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUEL SLOSHING ABOUT. *AK
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH SLIDING DOORS BUT MORE PREVELANT ON THE RIGHT ONE. ON SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, THE (RIGHT) DOOR HAS SWUNG OPEN JEOPARDISING SAFETY OF INFANTS AND OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE VAN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS OF THIS ITEM SEVERAL TIMES (AT LEAST FOUR). PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.*AK
A 10MPH ON SLOW BRAKING WITH OVER 1/2 GAS TANK HEAR NOISE UNDER THE CAR.*AK (TIRESIZE: P215/65R16)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215/65R16 )
HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 5 TIMES BECAUSE THE TWO SLIDING DOORS FAIL TO CLOSE PROPERLY. HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL, WHICH WAS DONE TWO WEEKS AGO. HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE THEN. SOMETIMES THE DOORS WILL CLOSE, BUT AN AUDIBLE ALARM WILL BE GOING OFF SAYING THAT THEY DID NOT CLOSE FULLY. THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE A DASH LIGHT SHOWING THE LOCATION. THIS USUALLY REQUIRES MULTIPLE CYCLING OF THE DOORS TO GET THEM TO CLOSE AND SEAL. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTANTLY, BUT OFTEN.

REAR PASSENGERS DOORS WILL FREQUENTLY NOT OPEN, EXPOSING CONSUMER'S THREE CHILDREN AND OTHER REAR SEAT PASSENGERS TO DANGER NOT BEING ABLE TO ENTER OR EXIT VAN, IF NECESSARY. *JG. *AK
REAR AUTOMATIC DOORS DO NOT SHUT PROPERLY AND ALSO SUDDENLY INDICATE THAT THEY UNLOCK, FROM A LOCKED POSITION. *AK
WHEN BACKING UP HILL, WILL INTERMITTENTLY HEAR A SINGLE, LOUD CLUNK FROM TRANSMISSION. IT GETS WORSE WITH TIME. CURRENTLY, HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THAN IT ORIGINALLY DID. DEALER HAS ORDERED NEW TRANSMISSION.*AK
SLIDING DOOR ON BOTH DRIVER/S AND PASSENGER'S SIDES IS VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED BOTH HANDLES. CURRENTLY, DOOR HAS TO BE LUBED EVERY 3 MONTHS. A FOUR YEAR OLD WAS ABLE TO BREAK HANDLE. CONSUMER FELT THERE WAS DEFECT IN SLIDING DOOR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE SLIDING DOOR STICKING WHEN CLOSED. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR EVEN IF THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED. DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE VEHICLE TWICE , AND LUBRICATED THE DOOR. THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED AND CURRENTLY DOOR ALSO DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT ONE OF THE WHEELS THAT MADE THE DOOR CLOSE BROKE.*AK
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR. DOOR OPENED QUICKLY AND JAMMED OVER THE FUEL FILLER DOOR, DAMAGING FUEL FILLER DOOR, ALSO CAUSED FUEL TO SPILL ON GROUND. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK THAT DOOR WOULD BE TOTALLY INOPERABLE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. *AK
A PROBLEM WITH A TRANSMISSION FAILUR,. REASON UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND REPLACEMENT WOULD BE DONE UNDER WARRANTY. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE SEAT-BACK OF THE DRIVER SEAT WILL START TILTING BACK AUTOMACTICLY. IT HAPPENED ALL WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE OFF POSITION. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE DRIVER SEAT PRESSES DOWN ON TO THE PASSANGER'S THIGH/KNEE WHO SEATS BEHIND THE DRIVER. IT WON'T STOP UNTIL I PULL THE ADJUSTMENT SWITCH. WHEN IT HAPPENED, MY 3 YEARS OLD DAUGHTER SAT ON HER CAR SET, BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT WAS CRYING, AND MY 8 YEARS OLD SON WAS SCREAMING. MY DAUGTHER HAD BRUISES ON HER THIGH WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THIS. *AK
WHEN IN REVERSE, THERE WAS AN OCCASIONAL CLUNKING NOISE. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED TO CORRRECT PROBLELM.

THE LEFT HAND SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR STICKS IN THE CLOSED POSITION, 2 DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES HAVE BROKEN, DEALER STATED PARTS WERE ON BACKLOG DUE TO OTHER VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS, THE RIGHT HAND SIDE DOOR HAS BEEN STUBBORN, BUT HAS NOT SNAPPED A LATCH YET. NLM
THE PUTRUDING BOLTS IN THE DOOR ASSEMBLY HAVE BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES AND I WAS TOLD HONDA WAS AWARE OF THIS AND THAT IT HAS HAPPENED WITH OTHER VANS BUT DON'T FEEL JUSTIFIED IN REPAIRING IT.*AK
RIM CRACKED ON INSIDE OF DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE. THEY SAY WE MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I WAS AWARE OF SO MUST NOT HAVE BEEN MUCH FORCE. WONDER IF RIM IS DEFECTIVE DESIGN.
TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE DRIVING (MICHELIN SYMMETRY P215-65R16). NLM
ON JUNE 16, 2000 MY 2000 HONDA ODYESSY WAS REAR ENDED OR HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR BUMPER. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH ONLY 6,000 MILES ON THE ODYESSY. I WAS SOUTHBOUND ON EUCLID AVE. AT INTERSTATE 5. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN A UPHILL POSITION. I WAS THE FIRST VEHICLE AT THE LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURN GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO GO AND MY ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND THEN CAUGHT AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLED OUT. THIS CAUSED THE ODYSSEY TO LURCH FORWARD AND THEN STOP SUDDENLY. WHEN THE ODYSSEY STOPPED I STILL HAD MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO GO SO THAT NO BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON TO WARN THE DRIVERS TO MY REAR THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO STOP. MY ODYSSEY WAS HIT IN THE REAR BUMPER BY THE VEHICLE TO MY REAR. THE ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE ANAHEIM POLICE WHO CAME TO THE SCENE AND MADE REPORT # DR NO 00-23199. THE VEHICLE TO MY REAR WAS WITHOUT INSURANCE. I REPORTED THIS ACCIDENT TO HONDA OF AMERICA AND THE CALLED ME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HAD AN APPRAISAL OF MY DAMAGES YET IT COULD BE SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS. I AM HOLDING OFF BECAUSE ON THE APPRAISAL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BEHIND MINE HAD NO INSURANCE AND AMERICAN HONDA CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY. ON A SEPARATE INCIDENT ON JUNE 24, 2000 MY LEFT REAR TIRE BLUE OUT AT 70 MPH WITH ONLY 7,500 MILES ON IT. I CAME TO A SAFE STOP AND HAD THE TIRE REPLACED FOR $100.00 . ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT THE BRAKES GRIND WITH A METAL TO METAL SOUND WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT MY POWER STEERING SOMETIMES HESITATES AND JERKS. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS WHEN RUNNING THE REAR AIRCONDITIONING ON HIGH THE REAR BLOWER SPEED FLUCTUATES LIKE AS IF IT HAS A BAD CONNECTION. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT I HAVE NOTICED SINCE THE COLDER WEATHER AROUND NOVEMBER, 2000 WHEN I USE THE DEFROSTER ON THE FRONT WINDOWS IT SMELLS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE, OR LIKE WIRES ARE BURNING. *AK (DOT NUMBER: M30D TIRESIZE: P215/65R16)
INTERMITTENTLY POWER-OPERATED SEAT WILL RECLINE ON ITS OWN, SQUEEZING THE REAR OCCUPANT'S LEGS. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK *ML
FROM WEEK OF PURCHASE, FRONT END HAS VIBRATED VIGOROUSLY AT 65+ MPH. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ALIGN PROPERLY. AFTER SECOND VISIT, DEALER SAID PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FIXED. I HAD TO REPLACE ORIGINAL TIRES AT 18,000 MILES DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT CONTINUED EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR, AND WONDER IF VIBRATIONS WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN OTHER COMPONENT FAILURE. *AK
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOES NOT OPEN AT ALL WHEN HANDLE IS USED. MUST OPEN FROM INSIDE OR VIA REMOTE. DOORS MAKE BUZZING SOUND INTERMITTENTLY ADVISING THAT DOORS ARE AJAR EVEN WHEN CLOSED CONTACT PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, YET PROBLEM CONTINUES. SOMETIMES DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE FULLY. IT CLOSES, ATTEMPTS TO LATCH AND THEN RE-OPENS PARTIALLY. OTHER SLIDING DOOR HAS SIMILAR ISSUES TO A LESSER EXTENT. LOTS OF OTHER DIVERSE ISSUES.
THE FRONT DOORS ON MY MINIVAN WILL SLAM SHUT UNEXPECTEDLY. IF THE DOOR IS OPEN AND EVEN A SLIGHT BREEZE COMES UP THE DOOR WILL SLAM SHUT. IF THE CAR IS PARKED ON EVEN A SLIGHT INCLINE OR IF IT IS PARKED NEXT TO THE CURB ON A STREET AND LEANS SLIGHTLY, THE DOORS WILL UNEXPECTEDLY SLAM. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY LITTLE GIRL GETTING HER NECK OR BACK INJURED IF SHE IS BETWEEN THE CAR AND THE DOOR WHEN IT SLAMS. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOME WAY OF MAKING THE DOOR SO IT WILL REMAIN OPEN EASIER.
POWER SEAT BUTTON MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING SEAT TO RECLINE ONTO THE REAR PASSENGER. *AK
AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE FROM DEALER I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM BY THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE STILL IS PULLING AFTER ALL FOUR CAMBER BOLTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND MANY ALIGNMENTS. NOW THE FRONT TIRES ARE WORN OUT. TIRES FIRESTONE. *AK
HUSBAND TAPPED WINDOWSHIELD FROM THE INSIDE OF CAR TO KILL SMALL BUG AND WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE OUTSIDE. WINDSHIELD IS INDENTED ON THE OUTSIDE. THE INSIDE HAS NO CRACKS OR MARKS. HUSBAND AND I COULD NOT REMEMBER ANY OBJECTS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD DURING A RECENT TRIP. TALKED TO DEALER ABOUT POSSSIBLE DEFEAT. DEALER HAS NOT RETURNED CALLS. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT TAPPING WINDSHIELD OR THE POSSIBILITY OF OBJECTS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD.
THERE IS A LOUD WIND/VIBRATION NOISE FROM FRONT LEFT SIDE AROUND WINDSHIELD AND OR DRIVER'S DOOR. NOISE IS CONSTANT WHEN DRIVING ON OPEN HIGHWAYS.WE HAVE RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. FIRST TIME THE DEALER ADJUSTED DRIVERS DOOR (WHICH WAS OUT OF SPEC ACCORDING TO DEALER). SECOND TIME, REPLACED RUBBER MOLDING/INSULATION ON DRIVERS DOOR WHICH WAS DEFECTIVE. AFTER BOTH VISITS, THE NOISE CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. WHEN THE NOISE APPEARS YOU CAN FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE INTERIOR MOLDING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH AND COMING TO A STOP SIGN, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. HAD TO STEP ON BRAKE PEDAL TO REDUCE SPEED, AND CONTROL VEHICLE. DROVE TO A PARKING LOT, AND TURNED OFF ENGINE. BUT, WHEN TRYING TO RESTART ODOMETER WENT UP TO 4000 RPMS. WHEN TRYING TO STARTED AGAIN, VEHICLE WAS FINE. DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE. *AK
DRIVER SEATBELT BUCKLE HAS BECOME INOPERATIVE, WILL NOT LATCH IN SEATBELT, CAUSING A LOSS OF PROTECTION. DEFECT HAS OCCURRED ONLY AFTER 1 WEEK OF OWNING VEHICLE. DLR CLAIMS CANNOT DETERMINE CAUSE OF DEFECT. PART REPLACED BY HONDA. *AK *ML
THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. ALIGNMENT BY DEALER DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. WHEN TURNING EITHER DIRECTION IT EITHER GOES APPROX 45 DEGREE ANGLE OR SO LEFT OR RIGHT INTO CURB/SIDE OF ROAD, DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER OF ROAD LIKE IT SHOULD WITHOUT HOLDING ONTO STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD AND AGRESSIVELY CONTROLLING IT. IT ALSO WILL VEER TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD--EVEN IN FAR LEFT LANE--IF I DIRECT IT LEFT IT ALWAYS VEERS TO THE RIGHT. DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ROAD I'M ON, IF I TRY TO LIGHTLY HAVE MY HANDS ON THE WHEEL WHICH IS NORMAL FOR MOST VEHICLES IT DRIFTS INTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD/CURB. MY OTHER VEHICLE, NOR MY HUSBAN'DS VEHICLE DOES NOT DO THIS. IT HAS A SEVERE DRIFT TO THE RIGHT, GOES INTO CURB IF I DON'T AGRESSIVELY CONTROL WHEN MAKING TURNS. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR 4 MONTHS, TOOK IT IN, THEY REALIGNED AND IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. CONTINUES TO DO THIS. MY HANDS HAVE TO BE ON THE WHEEL VERY HARD TO CONTROL THIS VEHICLE FROM GOING INTO THE CURB/DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE DO THIS. OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN STEERING, SUSPENSION, OR SOMETHING ELSE. I HAVE MICHELIN TIRES AND ALUMINUM WHEELS. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME PROBLEM ON EDMUNDS.COM ODYSSEY PROBLEMS, SO I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO'S ODYSSEY HAS THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. AS FAR AS FAILURE DATE/HOW MANY FAILURES, IT HAS DONE THIS FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS, EVERY TIME I DRIVE. THANK YOU. *AK
HONDA SOLD ME A VAN KNOWING THAT IT PULLED BADLY TO THE RIGHT. THEY TELL ME ALL VANS DO THIS, THUS, THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A NEW ONE. THE PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS.
WHEN THE VAN IS SHIFT ON REVERSE AND GOING BACK ABOUT THREE FEET THERE IS A LOUD BANG IN THE FRONT OF THE VAN, IT IS LIKE GOING OVER SOMETHING BUT AFTER LOOKING EACH TIME IT HAPPENTS THERE IS NOTHING IN THE PAVEMENT. I ALREADY TOOK IT ONCE TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULDNT FIND NOTHING. IT HAS HAPPENT AGAIN TWO MORE TIMES AND I WILL TAKE IT BACK TO DEALER.

PASSENGER-SIDE MANUAL SLIDING DOOR IS "STICKY & DIFFICULT TO OPEN" FROM THE OUTSIDE. HIGH HUMIDITY MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE. BROUGHT TO DEALER (KRILL HONDA, VALDOSTA GA) WHO WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. THE DEALER INFORMED US "MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE MANUAL SLIDING DOORS." *AK
THE VAN VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEED (ABOVE 65 MPH), THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES SEVERE ENOUGH TO BE SEEN WITH EYES. DEALER STATES THAT ALL HONDA ODYSSEY LXS ALL HAVE SAME PROBLEM - THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I BELIEVE.
