TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO OPERATE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE TRAVELING UP A HEAVILY TRAVELED TWO-LANE MOUNTAIN ROAD (STATE HIGHWAY 330 TO RUNNING SPRINGS, CA). VEHICLE BLOCKED TRAFFIC UNTIL IT COULD BE PUSHED INTO THE DITCH ON THE SHOULDER RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO PAINT. VEHICLE HAS 19,905 MILES; SLIPPING PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS; IN BOTH INSTANCES DEALER DENIED KNOWLEDGE OF ANY PROBLEM. *NLM
2001 HONDA ODYSSEY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS AS FOLLOWS: FIRST TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON 20 MAY 2003 AT 37,531 MILES. SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON 14 MAY 2007 AT 119,849 MILES. THIRD TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON 23 APRIL 2012 AT 193,820 MILES. THESE FAILURES ARE DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP OF THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS VEHICLE AS ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY IN THEIR LETTER TITLED "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION N WARRANTY EXTENSION" IN THE WINTER OF 2002. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH HONDA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILURES; HOWEVER HONDA WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN THE CASE OF THE THIRD TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE FAILURE OF THIS TRANSMISSION ON THE OPEN ROAD WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE LATTER CONDITION IS HAZARDOUS ON ROADS WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HIGH ROAD SPEEDS. YOUR ASSISTANCE IS REQUESTED TO ENCOURAGE HONDA TO FIX THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED TO A DIFFERENT LOW GEAR. THE CONSUMER STOPPED THE VEHICLE BUT WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED IT WENT BACKWARDS. *NLM
FRONT PASSENGER TIRE (FIRESTONE INFINITY) EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS FIRESTONE TIRE IS STANDARD ON THE LX VERSION OF THE ODYSSEY. DESPITE ASSURANCES FROM THE DEALER THAT THESE TIRES ARE SAFE, THE TIRE NEVERTHELESS EXPLODED. TIRE WAS WELL MAINTAINED, PROPERLY INFLATED AND ROUTINELY ROTATED. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID. TRADE UP FOR THE MICHELIN TIRES ON THE EX MODEL. THE FIRESTONE TIRES ARE NOT SAFE. DESPITE WHAT THE MANUFACTURER SAYS, THEY ARE NOT SAFE. FIRESTONE GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND ONLY WANTED TO CREDIT ME WITH A FEW DOLLARS OFF ANOTHER FIRESTONE TIRE (HOW CONVENIENT!), DESPITE HAVING 32000 MILES LEFT ON A 70,000 MILE TIRE. IF YOU VALUE YOUR FAMILY'S LIVES, AVOID FIRESTONE! *JB
SLIDING POWER DOORS APPLY TO MUCH PRERSSURE BEFORE THEY REVERSE. IT APPLIES TO MUCH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO A PERSON. I THINK THE FORCE EXERTED SHOULD BE LESS BEFORE IT REVERSES.*AK
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES LOCKED UP WITH OUT WARNING. *JB IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED TIGHT WHEN DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. MECHANIC NOR DEALER COULD FIND PROBLEM HOWEVER FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND PROBLEM DID NOT RESURFACE. *TT
I DRIVE A 2001 HONDA ODYSSEY AND I HAVE 50,000 MILES. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE MY GAS TANK AND ALTERNATOR. WHEN I CALL THE MANUFACTURE THEY SAY I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A DEALER MY CAR WAS ALREADY AT A REPAIR SHOP. TANK WAS BROKEN IN HALF AND ALL MY GAS WAS LEAKING. I HAD BEEN DRIVING AROUND FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG WITH THIS PROBLEM I DRIVE FOUR CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES. WHEN I WAS GOING TO PURCHASE THIS VAN, I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH AND I CHOOSE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS THE MOST RELIABLE CAR. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THE FACT THAT I HAVE TO PUT SO MUCH MONEY INTO THIS CAR TO REPLACE PARTS THAT SHOULD STILL BE IN GREAT CONDITION.*JB
WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM VACATION IN NASHVILLE, TN ON I-65N THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN RAPIDLY. THE PARTICULAR AREA IN NASHVILLE DID NOT HAVE MUCH OF A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON. MY FAMILY AND I WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO FIND AN OFF RAMP SOON AND EXIT THE INTERSTATE. I FOUND A HONDA DEALER IN NASHVILLE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT THREE DAYS TO WAIT FOR ANY KIND OF SERVICE. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME TO INDIANAPOLIS. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 43,865 MILES, 85,069 MILES, AND JUST RECENTLY AT 152,000 MILES. *TR

2001 HONDA ODYSSEY 1ST TRANSMISSIONS FAILURE AT APPROXIMATELY 48000 MILES. VEHICLE SITTING AT INTERSECTION. ATTEMPTED TO PULL ACROSS TRAFFIC AND TURN LEFT AT 4 LANE BUSY ROAD WITH NO LIGHT. CAR REVIVED BUT DID NOT MOVE. THEN TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND AS RPM'S CAME DOWN, CAR LURCHED AND MOVED INTO TRAFFIC AS 18 WHEELER APPROACHED.3 KIDS IN VEHICLE AND WIFE. NEARLY A MAJOR ACCIDENT. SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT APPROXIMATELY 109000 MILES. VEHICLE UNDER CRUISE CONTROL 50 MILES NORTH OF WACO. TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY REVIVED TO RECLINED ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN CRUISE CONTROL SET SPEED OF 70 MPH. LEFT WIFE AND 3 KIDS STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF NOWHERE NORTH OF WACO. TOOK 3 HOURS FOR TOW TRUCK TO FIND. ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED. THIRD TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 180000 MILES. VEHICLE JUST. QUIT RUNNING ENGINE REVIVED LIKE BEFORE. SPOUSE AND KIDS WERE ABLE TO LIMP TO SHOPPING MALL AT 30 MPH AND 4000 RPM. VEHICLE OS ON 4TH TYRANNY IN 180,000 MILES. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT TYRANNY. COST 4000. VEHICLE HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED. EACH NEW TYRANNY CAME WITH 3/36 WARRANTY AND HONDA LOST LAWSUIT FOR TRANSMISSION AND EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 109K MILES. SUBSEQUENT LAWSUIT EXTENDED WARRANTY FURTHER. RESIDUAL VALUE WHEN SOLD WAS COMPLETELY STOLEN DEALER GAVE 3900 IN TRADE. HAD LISTED ON CRAIGSLIST...NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY WANTED TO BUY IT OF CALLED. *TR
THE VEHICLES SLIDING DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. *NLM
REPLACED TRANSMISSION IN A 2001 HONDA ODYSSEY 2 WEEKS AGO. LAST NIGHT ASTROBE LIKE LIGHT FLASHED UNDER THE DASHBOARD AS THE TCS AND ORANGE TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIGHTS LIT UP. THE GREEN ILLUMINATED SQUARE WITH THE D STARTED FLASHING. THE VEHICLE NO LANGER ACCELERATES AND IS BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH ANOTHER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW, WAS IN OUR POSSESSION 1 YEAR AND 1 MONTH AND HAS LESS THAN 29,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
2001 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER REQUEST NHTSA REVIEW HIS CASE CONCERNING WARRANTY AND NEEDED REPAIRS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN DUE TO IT BEING STUCK. THE CONSUMER STATED THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ONGOING. *JB

AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS APPLY DANGEROUS PRESSURE TO PEOPLE BEFORE RETRACTING. I HAVE BEEN HURT TWICE BY BEING CRUSHED AND BRUISED BY DOORS CLOSING ON MY BODY WHEN DOOR WAS ACCIDENTLY ACTIVATED WHILE LOADING CHILDREN AND PASSENGERS. THE SENSOR TO RETRACT DOES NOT OPERATE AS INDICATED BY MANUFACTURER. THIS DEFECT POSES SERIOUS DANGER TO CHILDREN. ALSO, BOTH SLIDING DOORS HAVE BEEN MALFUNCTIONING SINCE OCT 2002. WILL ALMOST CLOSE, THEN RETRACT WITH NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THEM. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THIS MALFUNCTION FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR STARTING AT 25,000 MILES WITH NO SUCCESS. FAULTY JUNCTION SWITCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND DOORS REHONED BUT MALFUNCTIONS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN APPROX EVERY COUPLE MONTHS AND MILEAGE IS NOW AT 38,000. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IS VERY SLOW TO RAISE. FAULTY REGULATOR WAS REPLACED OCT, 2002. ALMOST A YEAR LATER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR WITH DEALER SAYING IT JUST NEEDS CLEANING. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR FOR THIS PROBLEM.
VEHICLES SLIDING DOORS ARE INOPERATIVE IN COLD WEATHER. DOORS UNLOCK BUT DON'T SLIDE OPEN, AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS COMES ON, BUT CONSUMER IS NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS BACK. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY CANNOT. TS
2001 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH IS NOW ON ITS 5TH TRANSMISSION AND HAS 104,850 MILES. CONTACT STATED VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AT LOW SPEEDS BETWEEN 2-3 ON THE RPM GAUGE. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM..*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST TIME THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, IT CEASED TO SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS. EVERY TIME THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IT WAS BECAUSE OF A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. THE EGR WAS REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL DAMAGE. THE ENGINE AND TCS LIGHTS HAD ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED A CODE DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER WHICH WAS ELECTRICAL. THE FRONT AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED. *JB
SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TWO MONTHS AGO, HAD UNEXPECTED DOWN SHIFT FROM 4TH TO 2ND ON HIGHWAY (LUCKILY DEVOID OF TRAFFIC). HONDA REPAIRED TRANSMISSION BY REPLACING SOLENOID SWITCH, NOT REPLACING TRANSMISSION. AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING (THIS TIME ACCELERATING) TRANSMISSION SLIPPED, UNEXPECTEDLY ALLOWING NO POWER TO DRIVE WHEELS DURING ACCELERATION. LUCKILY WAS ON A DESERTED ROAD, NO OTHER TRAFFIC. IF I WAS PULLING OUT INTO HIGHWAY (AS WE HAVE TO DO TO LEAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD) RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, AS UNEXPECTED INABILITY TO ACCELERATE/MOVE INTO TRAFFIC FLOW WOULD MOST CAUSE TRUCKS BARELLING DOWN HILL TO HIT US. LUCKY THIS HAPPENED 2 MINUTES AND 1/4 MILE EARLIER THAN THAT. OTHERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. DT
CONSUMER STATED THAT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WEARING AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE A HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. TS

CONSUMER STATED THE ROTORS STARTED TO WARP AT 12,000 THE ROTORS WERE NEVER REPLACED ONLY CUT DOWN TO REDUCE WARPAGE, CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE ROTORS ARE CUT IT WOULD ONLY SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE ROTORS, ALSO THE REAR HATCH SPOILER WAS REPLACED DUE TO IT BEING CRACKED. TS *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY HESTIATE TO ACCELERATE AND DIE OUT. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AS A RESULT OF A DEFECT IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS

THE SLIDING DOORS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED ON FOUR OCCASIONS AND REMAIN INOPERATIVE. WHEN THE POWER IS OFF, THE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. SCC

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY IN INCLEMENT THE DOOR WILL COME OPEN AND CLOSE INTERMITTENLEY. AND GET STUCK SHE WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR AND THE HANDLE CAME OFF. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MR
THE CONSUMER IS CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE PREMATURE WEARING OF THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKES ARE WARPED. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MR
THE HONDA ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION FAILED, MY MOTHER WITH ALZHEIMERS WAS IN THE CAR WITH US, THE CAR IS VERY UNSAFE, WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND ARE PUTTING IN A FOURTH TRANSMISSION IN OUR 2001 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH WE GAVE TO OUR DAUGHTER WHO IS A SINGLE MOM OF FOUR CHILDREN, WE HAD FAITH IN HONDA AND NOW WISH WE HAD SOLD THE ODYSSEY AFTER WE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION THE FIRST TIME. *TR
DRIVING ON RAINY ROAD, APPX 50 MPH, TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR. WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL, NO VEHICLES BEHIND, SO NO ACCIDENT. TRANSMISSION THEN REPEATEDLY TRIED TO UPSHIFT, SLIPPED DOWN TO 2ND, REPEATEDLY. PROCEEDED TO SAFE STOPPING AREA IN 2ND GEAR (MANUALLY SELECTED). COULD POTENTIALLY BE VERY DANGEROUS IF DRIVER DOES NOT RESPOND CAREFULLY, IF TRAFFIC IS FOLLOWING, IF ROAD IS SLICK, OR IF IN THE MIDST OF NEGOTIATING A CURVE. A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND VEHICLE DISABLING FAILURE. NLM
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH BATON ROUGE ENROUTE TO NEW ORLEANS, THERE WAS A MAJOR EXPLODING SOUND AND MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COMPLETELY SHATTERED IN MY LAP. WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE AND THERE WERE NO CARS IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF OR ON THE SIDE OF OUR CAR. WE DID NOT SEE ANY FLYING DEPREE OR ROCKS. A TRUCK DRIVER WHO WAS BEHIND US DID NOT SEE ANY ROCKS OR ANYTHING EITHER , HE WAS AS SHOCKED AS WE WERE. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS IF HONDA HAS REPLACED MANY SIDE WINDOWS AND IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE. I KNOW IF A ROCK HITS A WINDOW, IT USUALLY SHATTERS IN PLACE, BUT THIS WINDOW EXPLODED IN MY FACE AND LAP.*AK
DEALER STATED THAT SHIFT SOLENOIDS SHOULD BE REPLACED BUT THAT PAST CASES THIS HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING TRANSMISSION AT OUR EXPENSE. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE SIGNIFICANT FOR THE ODYSSEY AND SHOULD MERIT A RECALL. WE ARE PURSUING LEGAL ADVICE.*AK
SEAT BELT EMERGENCY RETRACTION MODE ENGAGED WHEN SEAT BELT WAS NOT LOCKED IN. THE SEAT BELT RETRACTED AND ALMOST STRANGULATED A LITTLE BOY. IT HAD TO BE CUT TO RELEASE HIM OR HE MAY HAVE DIED. WE CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION THAT PROVIDED ANY OTHER RECOURSE BUT TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THE SEAT BELT SHOULD HAVE RETRACTED IN THIS MANNER WHEN NOT BUCKLED. WE ARE NOT SURE WHETHER HONDA WOULD CHARGE ANYTHING TO REPAIR THIS. THE LITTLE BOY HOWEVER IS STILL VERY UPSET.*AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, OPENED SLIDING DOOR AND NOTICED SMOKE INSIDE. TEN SECONDS LATER, VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES. POLICE INVESTIGATOR SAD IT WAS A RESULT OFF BAD ELECTRIC SYSTEM. *AK
ALL TIRES ARE BALD ON INNER EDGES-EVEN AFTER ROTATION AT 6,200 MILES. *AK
GAS PEDAL STICKS WHEN PROCEEDING FROM STOP OR ACCELERATING FROM SLOW (UNDER 20MPH) SPEEDS. PRESSING GAS PEDAL WITH MORE FORCE FREES IT UP AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THIS LACK OF SENSITIVITY IN ACCELERATOR MODULATION HAS RESULTED IN A FEW NEAR CRASHES. DEALER WORKED ON ACCELERATOR ON TWO PREVIOUS OCCASIONS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10-15MPH, THE RIGHT FRONT TIE ROD BROKE. OWNER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. MANAGE TO STOP VEHICLE AND CHECK TIRE, WHICH WAS AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *JB *SCC

BOTH SLIDING DOORS "STICK" AND CANNOT BE OPENED. IN CRASH, OCCUPANTS WOULD BE TRAPPED IN VAN.*AK
DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD SHIFT FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHEN TURNING. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SLIDING DOOR WILL JAM AND NOT ALLOW CONSUMER TO OPEN DOOR. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE INTO DEALER TWICE, AND BOTH TIMES DEALER FIXED THE DOOR, BUT PROBLEM WAS NEVER REMEDIED. *AK
EARLY IN 2002 I BEGIN HAVING DIFFICULTIES OPENING THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR ON MY HONDA ODYSSEY. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I MUST NOT BE CLOSING THE DOOR CORRECTLY. IN JUNE 2003, I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP- AT THAT TIME THEY REPLACED THE RUBBER SEAL AROUND THE DOOR, ADMITTING OTHER VEHICLES WERE HAVING THAT PROBLEM. JULY 2005 THE DOOR AGAIN BECAME DIFFICULT TO OPEN, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP APPLIED A SPRAY "THAT SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM". BY OCTOBER 2005 SOME DAYS THE DOOR WOULD OPEN, SOME DAYS IT WOULD NOT. DEC. 4, 2005, I WAS TRAVELING HOME, ALONE, FROM CHURCH ABOUT 8:45 PM WHEN ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON. I SAW THE DOOR OPEN SIGNAL FOR THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WAS ON. IT WAS DARK, AT A SECTION OF THE COUNTY THAT I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE STOPPING AT, SO I DROVE FOR APPROX. 2 MILES TO REACH AN AREA WHERE I FELT SAFE TO STOP, GET OUT, GO AROUND THE CAR AND CLOSE THE DOOR. I CONTACTED HONDA ON MONDAY - IF I WANT TO PAY FOR IT, THEY WILL REPLACE THE SEAL AGAIN. I HAVE CALLED THE HONDA 800 NUMBER THEY GAVE ME AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT. BECAUSE I REFUSED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS (THE INDIVIDUAL ON THE 800 NUMBER SAID NOTHING ABOUT THAT DURING THE FIRST CALL) HONDA WILL DO NOTHING. THIS DOOR HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST, I FEEL HONDA HAS NEVER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, JUST MADE IT BEARABLE FOR A WHILE. IT IS UNSAFE. *NM
THE MINIVAN HAS AUTOMATIC SLIDING REAR DOORS THAT DO NOT STOP CLOSING EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN OBSTRUCTION. I HAVE 2 SMALL KIDS AND AM VERY AFRAID THAT IF THE DOOR DOES NOT STOP WHEN I AM OBTRUCTING IT, THAT IT IS SIMILARLY NOT STOP FOR UNKNOWING KIDS.
CONSUMER STATED THE WINDSHIELD IS MADE OF SOME MATERIAL OTHER THAN GLASS, WHICH HAS CAUSED CONSUMERS VISION TO BE OBSTRUCTED BY THE SCRATCHES.*AK *JG
THERE WAS NO TIRE DAMAGE. DO NOT KNOW HOW WHEELS BECAME CRACKED. DO NOT KNOW OF ANY IMPACT DAMAGE THAT MAY OF CAUSED SUCH A PROBLEM. THE TIRES SHOW NO SIGNS OF ANY SIGNIFIVANT IMPACT. DEALER AND HONDA AMERICA CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO RE-IMBURSE ME FOR WHEELS, AND ALSO DECLINED TO AT LEAST INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH QUALITY OF THE WHEELS. I STILL HAVE BOTH WHEELS IF YOU NEED THEM TO BE LOOKED AT. I OBVIOUSLY HAD TO REPLACE THEM. I REPLACED THEM WHEN I NOTICED THE TIRES ON THOSE WHEELS LOOSING AIR. I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. *AK
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT HAVE A SENSOR OR INDICATOR OR ANY TYPE OF REVERSE MECHANISM TO STOP DOOR FROM MOVING FORWARD WHILE PASSENGERS ARE ENTERING VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE PASSENGER TO BECOME INJURED. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
6.COOLANT SYSTEM CONTINUED FROM ODI #760344. THIS LEFT SPLASH SHIELD LOOSE,VIBRATING & AT RISK OF COMING OFF, CAUSING RISK OF ACCIDENT/INJURY. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REQUIRE THAT HONDA SERVICE PERSONNEL ATTEND ADDITIONAL IN SERVICE TRAINING ON AUTOMOBILE COOLANT SYSTEMS? SO THAT CONSUMERS ARE NOT EXPOSED TO PREVENTABLE HAZARDS, EXAMPLES BEING: BREATHING COOLANT FUMES, INJURIES FROM ENGINE OVERHEATING, SLIPPERY SURFACES & ENVIRONMENTAL DANGERS TO UNDERGROUND WATER SUPPLIES FROM COOLANT RUN OFF. 7. RIGHT/LEFT SLIDING DOORS-RIGHT/LEFT SLIDING DOORS FAIL TO OPEN UPON PULLING OF HANDLES AS DESIGNED. THREE TIMES OUR VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP FOR ABOVE COMPLAINT,AFTER SERVICE BULLETIN 00-0091 WAS ISSUED BEFORE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AS PER BULLETIN. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH A NUMBER OF OTHER HONDA LX OWNERS WHO STTED THEY HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH BEING UNABLE TO OPEN THE SLIDING DOORS. WHEN THEY TOOK VEHICLES TO DEALERSHIP DOOR SEALS WERE LUBRICATED, BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES TO EXIST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THESE VEHICLES ARE USED TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN TO & FROM SCHOOL AND BECAUSE THE SLIDING DOOR WON'T OPEN, CHILDREN MUST ENTER AREA OF TRAFFIC FLOW TO ENTER VEHICLE, INCREASING RISK OF INJURY. SLIDING DOORS CAN & WILL OEN WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTIION, DUE TO INABILITY TO FULLY OPEN/CLOSE SLIDING DOORS VIA HANDLES AS DESIGNED. 8.TRANSMISSION-I COMPLAINED OF GRINDING NOISE WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATES FROM 40TO50MPH. RPM'S GO UP TO 2000 UPON ACCELERATION, AFTER REACHING 50MPH, RPM'S DROP TO BETWEEN1500 TO 1700 AND GRINDING IS HEARD. EXPLAINED TO DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES & TEST DROVE WITH SERVICE ADVISOR, WAS TOLD HE HEARD NOTHING & VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. AFTER FINAL REPAIR/VEHICLE DEFECT NOTIFICATION INSPECTION/REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE GRINDING NOISE AT 50MPH & WAS RETURNED TO US WITH TRANMISSION SHIFTER INOPERABLE IN D3, 2ND & 1ST DRIVE GEARS. WE ARE NOTIFYING YOU OF WHAT WE FEEL ARE THE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IN WHICH OUR VEHICLE IS IN.
PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE WITH TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND FOOT LIGHTLY ON BRAKE PEDAL, EASING UP TO CURB AT A "SLOW WALK" SPEED, THROTTLE WENT FULLY OPEN, CAR LURCHED OVER CURB THROWING DRIVER BACK INTO SEAT. BEFORE DRIVER COULD RESPOND BY BRAKING, THE CAR TRAVELED APROX. 20 FEET UP AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT A WATER PIPE RISER COMING TO A STOP. DRIVER PUT TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED REVING AND TIRES STOPPED SPINNING.*AK
