WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON RURAL PAVED HIGHWAY, OUR 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN APPLIED MODERATE BRAKING (WITH ZERO DRIVER INPUT) TO THE LEFT-FRONT WHEEL TWICE WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO OF EACH OTHER. THIS BRAKING CAUSED THE VAN TO PULL MODERATELY TO THE LEFT AND NEARLY CROSS THE HIGHWAY CENTERLINE. THE VSA LIGHT ICON (VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST) FLASHED ON THE DASH DURING THIS EVENT. THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNNY, DRY DAY WITH TEMPERATURE AROUND 70F. VAN WAS TRAVELING ON A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY. NO TRACTION ISSUES WHATSOEVER.
ENGINE LOST POWER ALL OF SUDDEN WHEN EXITING HIGHWAY, BARELY GOING UP ON A SLIGHT UPHILL.
The contact owned a 2010 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH the vehicle began to vibrate and there was an odor of burning coming from the rear. The contact stated that she saw a "red glow" coming from the rear seat. The contact pulled the vehicle over and stopped, as the contact exited the vehicle it burst into flames. The contact stated that she did not notice any warning lights. The contact stated that the police and fire department arrived on the scene. The contact stated that water and chemicals were used by the fire department to extinguish the fire. The police wrote a report and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact stated that her insurance provider had declared the vehicle a total loss. The contact related the fire to recent recall work that had been performed for NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V112000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 145,623.
CAR DOORS GET JAMMED DUE TO ELECTRIC CABLE, WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE
ENGINE IS TRIPPING THE CODE "P3497" BECAUSE THE ONBOARD COMPUTER IS MAKING THE ENGINE BURN TOO MUCH OIL. THIS COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT IT'S CAUSED BY A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY.
ELECTRIC SLIDING DOORS WILL CATCH AND REVERSE. IT HAS HURT MY CHILDREN MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. THE CAR HAS 90K TO 120K ON IT OVER THE COURSE OF IT HAPPENING.
THE REVERSE TAIL LIGHTS FILL UP WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINS. I HAVE HAD IT FIXED, BUT 2 YEARS LATER THEY ARE FILLING UP AGAIN.
I HAD THE CAR FOR ONLY ONE YEAR. AT 122,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.
I WENT TO THE OURISMAN HONDA OF LAUREL SEVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THEM TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM DUE TO A RECALL THAT I WAS INITIALLY UNAWARE OF. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD FIX THE ISSUE AT NO COST. LATER, I RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL THAT STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM DUE TO THE CONVERSION OF THE VAN. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM WAS MOVED TO A DIFFERENT AREA WHEN THE VAN WAS CONVERTED TO A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE. THEREFORE, THEY MADE CLAIMS TO NOT HAVE NORMAL ACCESS TO THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM. THEY HAVE NOW DECLARED THE RECALL REPAIRS TO BE NULL AND VOID. OURISMAN HODA OF LAUREL HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR, REPLACE OR REFUND THE EQUIPMENT OR PARTS.
TRANSMISSION NO WARNING , JUST FAILED TO GO INTO ANY GEAR DISCOVERED PROBLEM IN PARK , THAN TRYING TO GO INTO REVERSE, NOTHING, HOWEVER AFTER 2 HRS IN WENT INTO GEAR THAN SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED
I WAS DRIVING (IN MOTION) WITH MY WIFE AND 5 CHILDREN ON A STRAIGHT, SMOOTH STRETCH (NO CURVES OR LANE CHANGES) OF EASTBOUND I-84 NEAR BURLEY/RUPERT, IDAHO. THERE WAS A LIGHT DRIZZLE, TEMP OF ~60 F, AND NO OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN 300 FEET FRONT, SIDE, OR REAR. ALL WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE WERE CLOSED, AND INTERIOR TEMP OF THE VEHICLE WAS ~68 F. WE HEARD A VERY LOUD, SCARY SOUND -- LIKE A SHOTGUN OR AS IF WE HAD DRIVEN UNDER A HUGE WATERFALL. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW NO OBVIOUS ISSUES, THEN LOOKED UP AND OPENED THE CLOSED SLIDING SUNROOF COVER. I FOUND THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED, WHICH SCARED ME EVEN MORE, AND PROMPTLY CLOSED THE COVER TO PREVENT GLASS FROM FALLING ON ME, MY WIFE, OR MY 1 AND 3 Y/O DAUGHTERS WHO WERE SEATED IN THE SECOND ROW. WE STOPPED AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE REST AREA TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE AND TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS. AS WE DROVE, WE HEARD GLASS CONTINUE TO BREAK OFF AND BOTH SLIDE FROM THE CAR ROOF ONTO THE ROAD SURFACE, AS WELL AS TOWARD THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BETWEEN THE ROOF AND HEADLINER.
OIL OVERCONSUMPTION, MULTIPLE CALLS TO HONDA AND WAS TOLD MY VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY GAVE. FASTWARD TO TODAY 3/26/19 AND THE ENGINE IS SHOT AND WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HERE IN TALLAHASSEE THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS NEGLIGENCE ON PART OF AMERICAN HONDA. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN MIAMI IN 2013 AND HAS BEEN SERVICED EVER SINCE AT SOUTH MOTOR'S HONDA IN MIAMI UNTIL WE MOVED UP TO HAVANA, FLORIDA. AFTER OUR MOVE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED AT FLOWERS HONDA IN THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA.
RADIATOR FAN RUNNING AND ALARM GOING OFF WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION. REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW GOING DOWN ON IT'S OWN WHEN CAR IS ON. TO GET WINDOW UP I HAVE TO OPEN DRIVER'S DOOR AND ROLL WINDOW UP AND LOCK IT FOR IT TO STAY UP. HAVE TO KEEP DRIVER'S SEATBELT ON ALL THE TIME TO PREVENT ALARM TO GO OFF. WENT DEALER AND THEY CHARGE A LOT OF MONEY AND COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM AND NEEDED MORE TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT IN WHICH I WOULD BE BILLED A WHOLE LOT MORE. I REFUSED TO PAY MORE . VERY FRUSTRATED AND FED UP WITH THE PROBLEMS ON THIS CAR.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, VSA LIGHT CAME ON, ROUGH IDLE, FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF WHEN STOPPED AT LIGHTS. TOOK MY VAN IN TO SEE WHY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS, WAS TOLD THAT PISTON 3 WAS MISFIRING, AND THESE ENGINES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS MISFIRE ISSUE.
PIVOT BOLT ON THE AUTO-TENSIONER BROKE TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THE PIVOT BOLT BROKE WAS AFTER I HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED AND I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TO TAKE CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IN SUBZERO WINTER CONDITIONS. I BARELY MADE IT HOME AS MY VAN WAS RUNNING ONLY ON THE BATTERY. IF I HAD STALLED ALONG THE ROAD, ME AND MY CHILDREN WERE AT RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA OR POSSIBLY DEATH DUE TO FRIGID -40 COLD WEATHER. I THEN HAD A NEW TENSIONER PULLEY BRACKET INSTALLED AND AFTER DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE PIVOT BOLT BROKE OFF COMPLETELY AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HARM OR DEATH DUE TO DEFECTIVE PIVOT BOLT..
"TAKATA RECALL" PAINT IS STRIPPING AND PEELING OFF OF VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS HONDA IS A WELL KNOWN AND RELIABLE BRAND. THERE ARE OTHER MAKES AND MODELS WHOS PAINT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME. WHAT IS HONDA'S EXCUSE FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS EFFECTED NUMEROUS HONDA OWNERS? HOW WILL THEY MAKE THIS RIGHT?
TAMARA RECALL LEFT SLIDING DOOR DOESN'T SLIDE RIGHT
THE PAINT IS PEELING FROM THE ROOF AND THE HOOD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO LOCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BIANCHI HONDA (LOCATED AT 8430 PEACH ST, ERIE, PA 16509,(814) 868-9678) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED IN JULY OF 2019. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2019, WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THE CONTACT REACHED INSIDE THE SLIDING DOOR AS IT STARTED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED LEFT RIB AND INJURIES TO THE UPPER RIGHT BACK AND SHOULDER. THERE WAS ALSO PAIN ON THE CONTACT'S RIGHT CALF. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION AND WAS BREATHING IN A MACHINE FOR HER LUNGS NOT TO COLLAPSE. SHE ALSO VISITED AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON FOR THE MUSCLES IN HER BACK AND SHOULDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF TRACK WHEN OPENING, CORD IS BROKEN AND BROKE MY WINDOW
TRANSMISSION HAS MOTOR LOCK UP ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER AND TRANSMISSION WILL NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR, BOTH ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION NEED REPLACING FREE OF CHARGE HAD IT TOW HOME, WHERE IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR WEEKS, THEY SAID ITS UNDER RECALL, HOW CAN I GET IT THERE IF THE MOTOR LOCK
When having to slow down or stop quickly, the van starts to jerk back and forth and shake a lot and the car becomes very difficult to control. This is especially noticeable when going down hills such as I-70 in Colorado, I-15 in eastern California or mountain passes in the Sierra Nevadas, but also when coming around a corner on a freeway and the traffic is stopped. It would be very serious if driving and a child ran out into the street in front of the van. I recently learned that this has happened fairly frequently with Honda Odyssey vans. I have had to replace brake and strut parts and bearings multiple times. (gratefully the struts were still under warranty, so I only had to pay for labor the ensuing times.)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR DETACHED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION OF THE ENGINE WHILE BRAKING. WHEN IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY HARD BRAKING TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I THEN TOOK THE CAR OUT OF GEAR (SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL) AND THE ENGINE ACCELERATION STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED TODAY (8/21/18) AND MULTIPLE TIMES (AT LEAST FIVE) IN THE PAST YEAR.
BOTH SLIDING DOORS COMING OFF TRACKS. ONE COMPLETELY FELL OFF AND WAS DAMAGED. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO A PERSON OR CHILD. I NOTICED MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE AND ONLINE.
BROKEN FRONT STRUT COIL SPRING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I HEARD A LOUD METALLIC SOUND WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP OR ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS. I THEN NOTICED THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROADS AS SLOW AS 25 MPH.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A LOCAL STREET, A CAR STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF ME, I HIT THE CAR WITH MY FRONT LEFT END, THE DRIVER AIR BAG DEPLOYED, POPPED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED BURN INJURIES TO MY LEFT FOREARM WITH PERMANENT SCARRING.
RIGHT (PASSENGER) SLIDING CARGO DOOR FELL OFF TRACK AND GOUGED THE SIDE PANEL OF THE VAN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY. NOTICED IN WEEK PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT THAT THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND WHEN OPENING DOOR, AND IT WOULD SOMETIME CATCH AND RE-OPEN WHEN CLOSING AS THOUGH IT HIT AN OBSTACLE. DEALER MENTIONED MAYBE SOME SAND OR GRIT IN ASSEMBLY. IN DRIVEWAY, WE OPENED DOOR THEN WALKED AWAY TO THROW SOMETHING IN TRASH HEARD A NOISE AND CAME BACK TO FIND THE DOOR HAD FALLEN OFF AND WAS HANGING FROM THE CABLE USED BY THE POWER OPEN/CLOSE MECHANISM. SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED CAR FURTHER TRYING TO GET IT TO CLOSE ENOUGH TO TO TAKE TO REPAIR SHOP AND PREVENT DAMAGE FROM IMPENDING RAIN AT TIME OF INCIDENT. WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIGHT THE POWER MECHANISM AND TO TURN THE HEAVY DOOR THE CORRECT WAY TO GET ALL THE PIECES IN THEIR CORRECT RAILS AND POSITION, NEVER DID GET ENTIRELY CLOSED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER ADVISED TO TAKE TO BODY SHOP. BODY SHOP SENT ME BACK TO DEALER WHO WOULD NOT TAKE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS BUT THEN ENDED UP FIXING THE DOOR THE SAME DAY FOR ABOUT $575. THE BODY DAMAGE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED.
HELLO, I HAVE A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. 2-3 MONTHS AGO MY WIFE HAD TO PULL OUR VAN OVER THE ROAD BECAUSE OF A SIGNIFICANT SHAKING (VIBRATION) OF THE WHOLE VEHICLE. SHE GOT PRETTY SCARED AND GAVE ME A CALL. THEN, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THAT WE HAD PURCHASED. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SPARK PLUGS HAD OIL LEAKED THROUGH THE ENGINE. THEY REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE ISSUE OF SIGNIFICANT SHAKING WAS RESOLVED. SINCE THEN, I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL AND EACH WEEK I AM ADDING A QUARTER OF OIL. THEN, I HAVE GONE THROUGH SOME SEARCH AND FOUND THAT 2008-2013 ODYSSEY MODELS ARE POWERED BY A SIX-CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT (VCM) SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED IN A WAY THAT ALLOWS OIL TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE'S COMBUSTION CHAMBER, LEADING TO PREMATURE SPARK PLUG DEGRADATION, REDUCED FUEL ECONOMY, AND EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. AS A RESULT, MANY ODYSSEY OWNERS REPORT HAVING TO REPLACE THEIR SPARK PLUGS FREQUENTLY AND REFILL THE MOTOR WITH OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THIS IS WHAT I AM EXACTLY HAVING. I HAVE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER CARE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOUR VAN IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE AS IT IS 8 YEARS 7 MONTHS OLD AND IF IT WAS LESS THAN 8 YEARS, IT WAS GOING TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CONCERN IS EXCESSIVE OIL LEAKAGE ON A LONG TRIP CAN CAUSE SIGNIFICANT ENGINE HEATING AND/OR SIGNIFICANT SHAKING OF WHOLE VEHICLE MAY REPEAT WHEN I AM ON AN INTERSTATE AND MY WHOLE FAMILY CAN FACE AN SERIOUS ACCIDENT ISSUE. I APPRECIATE YOUR HELPS IN GETTING HONDA TO FIX MY ENGINE AS THIS FIX IS QUITE EXPENSIVE FOR MY BUDGET. THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND BEST REGARDS.
CONFIGURED WITH 1 CHAIR BEHIND DRIVER AND ALL OTHER REAR SEATS REMOVED OR FOLDED DOWN. PAYLOAD CONSISTED OF MYSELF (DRIVER), SPOUSE, 4 GREAT DANE DOGS (550 LBS.), DOG FOOD AND GROCERIES. NO CELLPHONES ACCESSIBLE OR IN USE AND ALL VEHICULAR ENTERTAINMENT FUNCTIONS SWITCHED OFF. ABOUT 4:00 PM THURSDAY MARCH 1, 2018 WEATHER CLEAR, DRY AND AIR TEMPERATURE IN THE LOW 70S EXITED COSTCO (IH10W) PARKING LOT, PROCEEDED OVER IH10W ON BRIDGE TOWARD THE INTERSECTION WITH VANCE-JACKSON RD. AT APPROX. 35 MPH. ENCOUNTERED LINE OF STOPPED VEHICLES BACKED UP FROM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. USUAL AND NORMAL FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT PRODUCE THE EXPECTED SLOWING. EMPLOYING MAXIMUM PANIC FORCE ON BRAKE PEDAL FINALLY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP SHORT OF COLLISION. IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO 'PARK' WHERE UPON THE UNLOADED ENGINE RACED TO HIGH RPM. SWITCHED IGNITION TO 'OFF' WITHOUT REMOVING KEY. DID NOT OBSERVE TACHOMETER DURING THE FOREGOING EXCITEMENT BUT ENGINE SOUND WAS LOUD AND HIGH PITCHED. CHECKED FLOOR AREA FOR OBJECTS OR OBSTRUCTION AND FOUND IT CLEAR. DRIVERS LEFT FOOT BEING FIRMLY PLANTED ON THE FLOOR, ONLY THE RIGHT FOOT HAD ACCESS TO BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR. RESTARTED ENGINE AND PROCEEDED HOME NORMALLY BUT WITH GREAT TREPIDATION AND CAUTION. SUBSEQUENT EXPERIMENT IN A SAFE AREA REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE CAN INDEED BE SHUT DOWN, WHILE IN MOTION, FROM ANY TRANSMISSION SELECTION WITHOUT GOING TO 'PARK' ALTHOUGH WITH CONSEQUENT LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED BRAKING AND STEERING. THIS KNOWLEDGE DOES PROVIDE SOME GUIDANCE FOR ANY FUTURE RUN-AWAY EPISODES. MY SPOUSE WILL BE STRONGLY DISCOURAGED FROM DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN THE FUTURE. PERHAPS UNRELATED TO THIS INCIDENT (EXCEPTING THE POSSIBLE COMMONALITY OF ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER), THIS VAN HAS TWICE EXPERIENCED BATTERY DEPLETION DUE TO PARASITIC DRAIN WHEN PARKED OVERNIGHT.
VAN ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN DRIVING, IT JUST REVS AT VERY HIGH RPM'S. ALSO WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THERE IS A RATTLE IN THE LEFT REAR TIRE AREA LIKE A SPRING IS BROKEN BUT THERE IS NOTHING VISUALLY WRONG....
2 WKS AGO 1/7/18 WE NOTICED A TICKING NOISE THAT MY HUSBAND SAID SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE SITTING AT IDLE OR MOVING..HE CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE WAS NONE THERE..IT WAS NOT TIME FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WE GET THEM DONE REG. AT A NISSIAN DEALERSHIP..HE PUT 2 QTS OF OIL AND LUCAS ADDITIVE TO SEE IF THE NOISE WOULD QUITE DOWN..HOWEVER IT DID NOT AND HAS STARTED TO GET LOUDER..HE THEN WENT TO A MECHANIC FRIEND WHO USED A STETHOSCOPE AND SAID THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE FOR SURE..WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO WE GOT THE VAN FROM AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WASN'T ANY OIL IN IT..THEY SAID THAT THEY DID SOME RESEARCH AND SHOW THAT HONDA SETTLED A LAWSUIT ABOUT FAST OIL COMSUPTION AND ENGINE FAILURE..MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WENT OUT 9/17 AND IT WOULD NEED TO HAVE A CEL..I ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO START A COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN HONDA BUT THEY SAID THAT SINCE I'M NOT A CUSTOMER OF THEIR DEALERSHIP THAT IT WOULD BE OUT OF THEIR CONTROL..IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE AT IDLE AND WHEN YOU ARE GOING THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEAR..I'M AFRAID THAT IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND WILL STALL OUT ANYWHERE..I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE A NEW ENGINE WILL COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND I'M AFRAID THAT THE VAN IS ONLY WORTH LIKE $6-7000 BUT WE OWE LIKE $12900 STILL
I SEE A VSA LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD. NOT SURE IF IT IS A RECALL. BUT ENGINE DOES NOT START AT ALL.
I CANNOT OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. (IT IS NOT A POWER SLIDING DOOR) IT WAS STEADILY GETTING HARDER TO OPEN. I BARELY GOT IT CLOSED AS IT WOULD ONLY OPEN A SHORT DISTANCE AND I COULD BARELY SLIDE IT CLOSED. NOW I AM AFRAID TO TRY TO OPEN IT AS I AM AFRAID IT WILL GET STUCK OPEN AND I WON'T BE ABLE TO CLOSE IT AT ALL.
SHORTLY INTO A SHORT TRIP (~5MI) ON LOCAL STREETS, SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE FRONT HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND 911 CALLED. THE EMERGENCY TEAM ARRIVED QUICKLY, BUT FIRE WAS NOTICED IN THE FRONT HOOD EVEN BEFORE THEY SHOWED UP. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BUT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AS THE FRONT HOOD WAS ALMOST COMPLETE FRIED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND HAD ABOUT 83000 MILES ON IT. BEFORE THIS INCIDENT, NO WARNING SIGN OR OTHER INDICATIONS WERE NOTICED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CLICKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE POWER TRAIN FAULT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION AND STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (PEARSON HONDA IN MIDLOTHIAN, VA) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS UNUSUAL AND DID NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS GRINDING AND MALFUNCTIONING. WENT TO OPEN IT FROM INSIDE AND IT FELL OFF ONLY HANGS MY BY A LITTLE CABLE. GOT IT SOMEWHAT BACK ON TRACK BUT IT WON'T LATCH AND FRIEND GOT HURT IN THE PROCESS OF IT FALLING OFF. DEEP SCRTCHES ON THE SIDE AS WELL. WHAT CAN WE DO.
VEHICLE VIBRATING WHILE ACCELERATING, REPLACED TIRES, BRAKES AND CHECKED EVERYTHING ELSE, BUT IT IS STILL VIBRATING SPECIFICALLY WHEN ACCELERATING.
REPLACED THE RECALL PARTS 40 MILES FROM A DEALER AND HONDA WANTS TO REDO AND NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. GAS WAS LEAAKING AND COULD NOT DRIVE FOR 40 MILES BECAUSE OF FIRE FEAR. AUTO REPAIR SHOP PUT IN FUEL MODULE. THE STRAINER FAILED AND CAUSED CRACKS THAT WERE LEAKING IN THE FUEL PUMP.

NOT LONG AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP (ONE PREVIOUS OWNER) THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR STARTED FREEZING UP. WE COULD NEITHER OPEN NOR CLOSE IT PROPERLY. WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN, WE WERE SHOCKED WHEN THE MECHANIC TOLD US HE SAW THE PROBLEM ALL THE TIME ON THAT MODEL, AND THAT WE WERE LUCKY THE DOOR HAD NOT FALLEN OFF ON US, BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN IT HAPPEN TO OTHERS. WE HAVE THREE LITTLE KIDS...MOST MINIVAN OWNERS HAVE YOUNG KIDS! THEY REPLACED THE CHEAP PLASTIC ROLLERS WITH MORE CHEAP PLASTIC ROLLERS (WHY OF WHY IS THIS HONDA'S ONLY OPTION TO SUPPORT A HUGE, HEAVY STEEL DOOR?!) AND REMOVED THE AUTOMATIC MECHANISM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NOW WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR. IT IS COMPLETELY FROZEN (AT THIS POINT IT'S FROZEN WHETHER IT'S IN AUTOMATIC MODE OR MANUAL), AND I HAVE LEFT IT SHUT THAT WAY BECAUSE I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY KIDS CLIMB IN THE OTHER SIDE, AND BUCKLE MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THROUGH THE WINDOW, THAN TRY TO OPEN IT AND RISK HAVING IT FALL ON SOMEONE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER MOTHERS IN MY TOWN WHO OWN THIS SAME CAR AND HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DOORS. THIS IS NOT JUST AN INCONVENIENCE, IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! WHAT IF BOTH DOORS FROZE ON SOMEONE DURING AN ACCIDENT AND THEY COULDN'T GET THEIR KIDS OUT? WHAT IF THE DOOR FELL OFF ON A CHILD?! AN ADULT MIGHT SUFFER ONLY MINOR INJURIES FROM SUCH A THING, BUT A CHILD WOULD BE CRUSHED. THERE ARE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE INTERNET, WITH HONDA USUALLY TELLING THE OWNERS THE PROBLEM IS SOMEHOW THEIR FAULT. TOYOTA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE SIENNA AND THEY DID A RECALL. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR CLOSES AND THEN OPENS SLIGHTLY. THE LOCK WILL NOT ENGAGE. DASHBOARD LIGHT ALWAYS SHOW THAT DOOR IS AJAR. WHEN MAKING A TURN YESTERDAY THE DOOR ACTUALLY OPENED ALL THE WAY. MY BABY WAS SITTING ON THAT SIDE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
SPONTANOUSLY THE SUNROOF SHATTERED. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70MPH, THE SUNROOF SHATTERED. IT WAS CLOSED AT TIME, ALL GLASS BEHIND CAR.
DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION MY CAR ENGINE FAILED AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPAIRED. MY WIFE WAS ABOUT TO GO ON A TRIP AND FORTUNATELY WE HAD IT LOOKED AT OR ELSE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN SERIOUS DANGER OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN INSIDE. I WROTE 2 LETTERS TO HONDA ASKING FOR A NEW CAR OR A CREDIT TOWARDS A NEW CAR. THE SECOND LETTER I RECEIVED A CALL STATING SINCE I DID NOT OWN THE CAR THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME. THE GIRL, STEVIE, TOLD ME IF I WROTE MORE LETTERS THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED HARASSMENT????
I BOUGHT THIS HONDA FOR 4,300 AND THE GUY SOLD IT TO ME WITH 90,000 MILES BUT I FOUND OUT THAT THE SPEED ODOMETER WAS CHANGED AND IT ACTUALLY HAS 228K MILES. WHEN I RECIEVED THE TITLE IT SAID THE ODOMETER WAS CHANGED BUT THEY NEVER TOLD ME ANYTHING WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I BOUGHT THE VAN IN DALLAS TEXAS IN A DEALER.
MY 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 85,000 MILES VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING UPHILL. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA TO GET THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. I LEARNED OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE WHICH COVERED UP TO MODEL YEAR 2009 BUT NOT 2010 EVEN THOUGH IT USES THE SAME PART. HONDA AMERICA WOULD ONLY OFFER ME A 40% DISCOUNT ON THE SERVICE. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA MYSELF BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS IS A PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
