The 3.5 engine is ticking (knocking hard from 1-2 rpm same engine that is in all the recall on pilots and other Honda cars! My car has 65k miles on it . Honda has it for a week they can’t figure it out and say it’s normal. I know my car and a loud tick is not normal! Honda knows these engine have issue and don’t want to fix it. I’m now out of warranty and they don’t want to do anything basically they want me to get stranded when it breaks down or I’m in an accident if my engine breaks.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to repair was unavailable. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the parts were not available The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to confirm when the parts were available for the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The automatic braking system will activate at various times shaking the wheel and applying the brakes. This happens when there is nothing in front of the vehicle.
Traveling up a hill of 5-degree incline. 20 MPH speed limit. Came to complete stop, pushed reverse button. Back over prevention camera did not activate. Did not depress gas pedal. Vehicle rolled backward 35 feet before coming to rest partially in traffic and partially in private driveway. Instrument panel indicated vehicle P for park throughout the entire event. After coming to rest: (partially in traffic) Vehicle would not shift out of park. Error messages on Instrument Panel stated: "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." Check Engine was not illuminated. Turned off car and back on. Same error message was still present. Gear selector buttons would not respond and vehicle remained in Park, partially stuck in traffic. Repeatedly attempted to get vehicle to shift out of park. Eventually the Battery Positive Terminal was removed and reapplied and tightened Vehicle started, error message no longer present. Vehicle shifted out of Park into Reverse. Back Over Prevention Camera activated at this time.
Unknown component failure on 2019 Honda Passport. While operating the vehicle, the engine shut off and automatically placed the vehicle in neutral. The battery light appeared on the dashboard, and instructed, "To start engine: Brake + Push". The vehicle would not allow me to press the start button unless placed in park, however, the vehicle would not allow me to select park while the engine was off. After a few minutes, I was able to place the vehicle in park, but the engine would not immediately start upon pressing the start button. I then had to manually reset the vehicle by pressing the start button three times before the engine would turn on again. This issue has occurred three times over a span of three months. Once while I was parked. Once while I was operating on the highway, thus posing a risk being rear-ended at a high speed. And once while I was operating through an intersection on the main road, again posing a risk of being rear-ended or T-boned. During these times, the vehicle was rendered inoperable until it was eventually restarted. There were no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the times of failure. It is noted the issue seems to present itself while the speed of the vehicle is decreasing. For instance, while slowing in traffic on the highway and on the main road. The issue was brought to the attention of the Honda Service Center on two separate occasions. Both times Honda was unable to replicate the issue or identify the component at fault. Honda stated that the vehicle diagnostics and computer system presented no codes or record of the malfunction. The issue remains unresolved.
The Engine transmission surges as it changes gears probably due to the fuel pump recall issue. This surging and/or delay motion is worsening. The recall notice has been in place for over 2 years and local Honda dealership is still unable to acquire the replacement parts.
The automatic emergency braking system engages in times when it is not appropriate to do so. The vehicle will flash the “brake” warning light on the dashboard, will shake the steering wheel, apply light braking, and in a few instances has applied hard braking. We have been unable to determine a specific trigger for this issue. The vehicle will engage this feature on strait roads with no other vehicles or obstructions on the road. It has happened during both rainy and sunny conditions. The vehicle has also exhibited this behavior when going up and down hills both with and without other vehicles present. The vehicle will do this sometimes when other vehicles enter our lane at a safe distance and at low speeds, at or below 30 mph. The vehicle has also done this at highway speeds of 55+ mph both with and without other vehicles or obstructions in the roadway. We have experienced this while driving curvy roads both with vehicles passing in the opposite lane of traffic and when no other vehicles are present. The feature appears to randomly engage at all speeds between 15+ mph to 70+ mph with or without vehicles on the roadway. It also doesn’t appear to matter if a vehicle is in our lane, an adjacent lane, or the opposite lane of traffic. This issue was identified and has been ongoing since the vehicle was purchased in October 2023. The issue happens at least 1 time most days the vehicle is driven but can range between 1 time and 3+ times each day. The vehicle is driven consistently 30+ miles each day with occasional trips of 300-500 miles in a single day. The other issue we have noticed is the rear cross traffic warning. We have noticed something’s this will engage when no other traffic or obstacles are present. We have also observed this feature failing to engage when a vehicle or obstacle is present. This issue does not happen often but has been observed enough that is has come to my attention as a potential issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted. Additionally, when the vehicle was started on several occasions, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
BOTH SUN VISORS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE EXTREMELY HARD TO DEPLOY, WITH SIGNIFICANT RESISTANCE ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD CREAKING NOISE. THEY ARE A DEFINITE HAZARD TO WHEN MOVING. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER, AND HONDA AMERICA, AS WELL. AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, MY ONLY OPTION IS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. HAVING OWNED MULTIPLE HONDAS (AT LEAST 7) OF DIFFERENT MODELS, ALL ACCRUING MILEAGE BEYOND WARRANTY LIMITITATIONS, AND NEVER EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM, I FIND THE SITUATION MOST FRUSTRATING AND PERPLEXING. HONDA AMERICA DISMISSES ANY RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR PART AS 'NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR'. THE MOST SIMPLE OF MECHANICAL FEATURES IN THE UNT COULD LEAD TO TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. I DOCUMENTED THE ISSUE AS AN INCIDENT OF 10/21/24, BUT IN FACT THE ISSUE OCCURS WHENEVER ONE DRIVES THE VEHICLE, AND HAS BEEN DOING SO A LONG TIME. I FELT CERTAIN HONDA WOULD ADDRESS WITH A SAFETY RECALL.
Auto Stop feature will engage when I stop the car at a light, and then the engine will fail to turn back on when I take my foot off the break. I then have to try and get the car to turn off so I can restart it. I’ve taken it to Honda and they did a system update and also had the battery replaced. It was better for a while, but has now happed again twice in the last couple months.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. No further information was provided. An unknown dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,483. Parts distribution disconnect.
I called two dealerships to get my recall repaired, Mile High Honda and Planet Honda, and neither of these certified Honda dealers can help me fix my recall. I am worried about my safety as I drive this vehicle. Honda is currently out of fuel pumps to fix this situation, leading to uncertainty and fear while operating my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Backup camera became distorted with colors, replaced at dealership today under extended warranty with a deductible.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from under the hood, with the engine temperature gauge rising. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and was left for further investigation into possible internal engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,092.
Rear camera is malfunctioning. The view is blurry and frequently distorts to a green saturation removing visibility to the rear of the vehicle. This is a major safety hazard as the visibility is unpredictable and is obstructs the critical view behind the vehicle. Previously there was no issue. The issue only started occurring after a recall replacement was performed in December ‘23 for a similar issue. Previous recall info: RECALL 23-047 FAKRA CABLE INSPECTION Cause: FAKRA CONNECTORS UPDATE Correction: FAKRA CONNECTORS UPDATE OP CODE # 0101T0 1.70 - The replacement from recall or camera is faulty and needs replacement. Honda is stating they will not take action without a diagnosis which they are stating will cost $200 to the consumer. Please help protect the consumer here as it appears Honda is well aware of the issue persisting beyond the previous recall and purposefully not taking action.
The vehicle has made multiple abrupt emergency brake activations in non-emergyncy situations. Nearly causing a crash multiple times. It's my opinion this system is severely flawed and extremely dangerous - not only to me but anyone around me. SHAME on Honda for allowing this system to drive on our roads.

Car shut off in the middle of [XXX] in East Brunswick NJ. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Warning system failure… all lights lit and systems did not work.car was drivable but with no safety mitigation systems. Happened suddenly while driving on hwy. displayed the following warnings: Transmission System Problem Blind Spot Info System Problem Power Steering System Problem Emissions System Problem Vehicle Stability Assist Problem Hill Start Assist Problem Traffic Stability Assist Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Rear tailgate did latch not working The D for drive was blinking These safety systems put my driving at risk as I rely on them for safe driving, lane change ..etc Brought to dealer for second time and they insist I leave the vehicle on so they can check the error codes. Even had ready made sign “ do not turn vehicle off” for dashboard. Seems like significant problem and I’m not the only one. Evidenced by chatter on Honda web forums. My question is, why do all system failure lights activate? Why can’t they determine the failure after car is turned off. Isn’t that the purpose of fail codes? Why do all safety functions fail when one issue arises. Evidence points to a software bug that effects all these functions (yes including the rear latch) Dealer recommends replace the ABS module but is not sure. Last time they replaced the speed sensor. Seems they are unsure. Needs software fix !
When engaging the accelerator after auto-stop the entire vehicle stalled. Nothing was displayed on the dash or media console, the vehicle cut off, no steering, and no acceleration. When attempting to restart the vehicle it failed multiple attempts until about 45-60 seconds later. Thankfully this occurred at a redlight, but it was a single lane and other drivers behind me were not pleased. This has happened twice now.
The rear view camera is all red and blurry..
I was at a stoplight on a bridge in a left turning lane for ramp entry onto an interstate. I was going zero mph, with foot on brake. My auto idle stop was engaged. When the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake. At that moment my engine did NOT restart, instead my car stalled. Cars were coming up behind me going 45-50 mph as they saw the light was green. It was very scary, as I thought I would get rear-ended. I had to step on my brake, turn off car, then step on brake again to restart the car. I cannot trust the auto idle stop feature. At this point I try to always turn that feature off upon start-up. (1) to avoid the above situation and (2) to avoid breakdown of key components especially the starter.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH the vehicle suddenly lost automotive power causing the driver to lose control of the steering and crash into the rear of a Semi-Truck. During the incident, the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained bruising of the chest and hip areas and pulmonary heart bruising due to the seatbelt restraints. Medical treatment was later administered. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failures was not determined. The contact informed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000(Fuel System, Gasoline), and the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,700.
My 2019 Honda Passport with VIN# ending with**********2184. A safety recall of a faulty fuel pump was dangerous to drive. The faulty pump recalled from Honda NHTSA warned drivers that are at risk of crashes and accidents. The increased risk of property damage as well. I was exhausted trying to get a loaner car from my Dealership that I have all of my routine maintenance is performed. The fuel pump failure from December 2023 as of today still unavailable. On 6/15/2024 I loss control of my 2019 Honda passport. The rapid acceleration and rapidly stalling the vehicle etc loss of power and control. I hit a Tractor Trailer hitch destroying my vehicle completely. My injuries are still extremely problematic mental and physically. I was arrested for DUI which put the blame of me being Intoxicated or Driving on drugs. I was not taken to a Hospital but to jail. I requested to seek treatment in the Jail Clinic.I was released without a bond. The cops wanted my consent for blood to determine my alleged DUI. August 7th 2024 I received a letter stating that my blood was negative and rescinded of suspension allowing me to drive. I can’t drive with Seatbelt sign injuries neck, spine trauma to degenerative spine exacerbation. No car no job unable to be my elderly mothers care taker. My mental health has become significantly worse ever in my entire life. A faulty fuel pump and a false DUI arrest are daunting on a daily basis. I have also contemplated suicide. I am financially crippled. So I don’t understand if I was cleared as the cause of the accident. I was already warned about and Honda knew that without a DUI case. Hondas Safety recall of the faulty fuel pump. The indicators were a red flag but my Honda dealership just told me to just pray everything I have to drive my vehicle dates 2/22 2024 —-3/14/24 4/24 and other miscellaneous dates every time frustrating. The inspection of the faulty fuel pump was explained on the recall. After the collision nothing left to check.
My vehicle is currently subject to recall 23V-858. I never received a recall letter. I am currently an active duty service member attempting to have my vehicle shipped to Hawaii in conjunction with a PCS. The government will not ship my vehicle until Honda provides me with a letter confirming that there is currently no fix for 23V-858. Can you please help me get something from them ? I have already contacted several local dealerships as well as their corporate office and no one will help me. Thanks !
What component malfunctioned: The driver's side visor has malfunctioned and is extremely difficult to raise and lower. It's motion has become very stiff and requires both of the driver's hands to raise or lower it, which means that the driver must remove their hands from the steering wheel to utilize the visor. It is available for inspection as it is still installed in the car. Safety Risk: The malfunctioning visor is a safety risk to both the driver, the car's other occupants and other drivers as it requires both of the driver's hands to raise or lower it which means the driver must temporarily take their hands from the steering wheel while driving to operate the visor. Removing ones hands from the steering wheel can cause the car to be temporarily undirected by the driver which can result in accidents. The malfunctioning visor also creates a visibility hazard. As the visor is too difficult to raise and lower, the driver can be blinded by the sun glare that the visor would normally block. such a visibility issue can lead to accidents, especially if there is oncoming traffic. Inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others:? The dealership (Ziegler Honda, Kalamazoo Michigan) was asked to look at the visor to determine why it wasn't working correctly. They informed me that this was a common issue with this model of Honda and that the only option to fix it is total replacement at a cost of $300. This would not be covered by insurance and there is currently no recall in place to address the defect. Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The visor started to not function smoothing in Summer of 2024 and the problem has consistently progressed to the point that the visor is now extremely difficult to raise and lower and requires to hands to move. I can provide a video of the visor's operation showing how difficult it is to move.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while stopping at a red traffic light, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power, after which the vehicle was able to be restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.
I contacted my local Honda dealership on May 20, 2024 and was told that there are no parts available to address and correct this recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-858), and that American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has stated that there would be no parts available "until late this year." This is a safety issue that, should failure occur during vehicle operation and/or in motion, would render the vehicle instantly inoperative. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. should immediately expedite the manufacture, shipment, and replacement of these potentially defective fuel pump modules to address this risk to vehicle operators.
The vehicle does not restart after entering 'Auto Idle Stop' even with latest software update by Honda. About 2 month ago, my car started to act weird and stopped restarting during traffic stops, causing dangerous situations. (I was waiting in the intersection to make left turn and the vehicle was stopped in the middle) I went to Honda dealership for repair, and they explained that its known issue and can be solved by software update. They promised that it won't happen again, but starting few days ago, it is doing it again. I went to the dealership again, and they are now saying that they have to replace the starter. I don't think it is a safe approach to let customer "test" the software and replace problematic part depending on the test outcome. I feel like Honda should update the software AND replace starter.
My Honda Passport will trigger false forward collision alarms randomly, and for no reason. No obstructions are visible most of the time recently! As the BRAKE warning appears, the steering wheel vibrates and a quick braking jabs causing panic as if the brakes are fully engaged then it releases. This happens for no apparent reason. It is VERY distracting and if the brakes do apply very quickly, serious injury and damage can occur. This has happened multiple multiple 10+ times. Now until recently l was usually in a construction zone near a barrier or orange hivis barrel by or passing over thick lane markings on the pavement. So l assumed system was over sensitive but never during those incidents was my vehicle was directly in front (head-on) nor did l veer into the direction barrel/barrier.
Car does not restart after auto-stop leaving car stranded at times in an intersection or stop and start highway traffic. It will restart after putting the car in park and waiting several seconds. One instance I had to get a jump. After getting a new battery, it still occurred. Battery showed dead cells so had to get it replaced again (on warranty). Issue is still occurring when forgetting to disable auto-stop
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport equipped with Continental Tires, Tire Line: Cross Contact LX, Tire Size: 245/50/R20, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front passenger’s side tire was vibrating and deflating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the tires were balanced and an alignment was performed, and the tires were rotated; however, the failure persisted. The tires were original equipment. The tires were replaced. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V165000 (TIRES); as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle and tire failure mileages were 32,000.
Started my vehicle and drove about a mile before my brake system lights came on. They were sporadically coming on , but now it's a continuous issue. I would like to know is there some kind of recall on vehicles that are experiencing issues with the ACC, COLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM, BRAKE SYSTEM, LKAS, AUTO HIGH BEAM, and ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION lights staying on . I only have 28,000 miles on my 2019 Passport Elite. So it's no longer un warranty. I see that a number of people on the Honda Forums are experiencing the same issues. As a loyal Honda owner, I must say I've had more issues and recalls with this one. Too many for an almost $50,000 vehicle.
Well, driving the car south on [XXX] the electrically operated moonroof in the vehicle shattered and broke into pieces. The interior sliding blackout panel was closed and no glass entered the car, but the remaining glass spread out over the roof of the car and out onto the highway and back of the vehicle. The vehicle is now at the local Honda dealer for repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The Automatic Emergency Braking system has gone off multiple times on my 2019 Honda Passport since purchasing it in February 2021. Only a few of those times was necessary, the rest have either been an annoyance or have created more of a hazard when driving. This was especially true when the braking system dramatically reduced the speed of the Honda passport while traveling on an interstate highway, passing a truck while additional vehicles were traveling at the same speed behind me. I lost full control of the car for a minute and which only exacerbated the situation. I’m very fortunate a crash did not occur in that moment. I have never had this component looked at, but have only had the car serviced at Honda dealerships and have had the camera re calibrated a few times now. There were no warning signs, a giant “BRAKES” flashes on the dash once the system has been triggered into action, but there’s no way I’m aware to stop it once it’s been triggered, there’s only the option to turn the entire system off ahead of it being triggered. This issue has been happening as long as I can remember, but is generally bad on high traffic multi lane roads and single lane roads where traffic is consistent from the other direction.
Car will at times not start and require to be jump started. Battery has been replaced and the issue persist. The car will randomly say collision warning when no cars are on the road

Backup camera is suddenly distorted with green and pink colors covering the actual image. The image changes each time, but is often very hard or impossible to safely view what is behind vehicle while backing up. Vehicle is garage kept, no sun or water damage possible. This significantly increases the risk of a crash while backing up. Because the image is so distorted, it often looks like there is an object present, causing driver to swerve even though there is not really anything there. Many other 2019 Passport owners are reporting the same thing in online forums. Honda insists this is a malfunctioning camera, but will not accept it as a manufacturing defect.
Dealers have stalled the repair of this manufacturer defect. I have made multiple requests to repair this vehicle, two dealers state that they do not have the repair parts. This has gone on for over a year. I have reported that the vehicle has stalled, they said it was a software issue.

The idle stop start stalled the suv at intersection while waiting at light. This has happened multiple times already over the last couple of months. The latest took several repeat attempts to get it started again
