THE PUSH BUTTON TO START THE BUTTON IS VERY UNRELIABLE. I HAVE YOU PUSH THE BUTTON DOZENS OF TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN ON OR OFF. I ALSO GET A WARNING ON THE DASH THAT SAYS, "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM"

ERROR MESSAGE 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM' KEEPS APPEARING AFTER NO CHANGE IN DRIVING, WEATHER, OR OTHER FACTORS. IT COMES ON AT START UP OR WHEN PARKED. MULTIPLE TIMES. AFTER HOLDING THE BRAKE DOWN FOR ABOUT A MINUTE THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARS BUT HAS SINCE REAPPEARED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH SINCE FIRST OCCURRED. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PILOTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
WE HAVE A 2016 HONDA PILOT TOURING. SINCE EARLY 2018 WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING AND WE COME TO STOP IN TRAFFIC AT A LIGHT, THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM ENGAGES AND SHUTS THE ENGINE DOWN, LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO DO. ONCE THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN FOR TRAFFIC TO MOVE, I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM TRIES TO ENGAGE AND TURN THE ENGINE ON AGAIN, BUT FAILS AND SHUTS THE WHOLE VEHICLE DOWN, INOPERABLE. THE LIGHTS FLASH AND I CANNOT TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN FOR AT LEAST 1 TO 2 MINUTES. VEHICLES ARE HONKING AND TRAFFIC IS BLARING ACROSS US, BUT I CANNOT TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON. AFTER 2 MINUTES, I CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE BY PUSHING THE BUTTON AND BRAKE AND THEN THE VEHICLE MOVES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WIL LOL HAPPEN, BUT IT HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFFIC OR A BUSY INTERSECTION. IN 2019, I TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD BATTERY. I REPLACED THE BATTERY IN MARCH 2019. THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED TO OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES. NOVEMBER 10 TOOK THE SAME DEALER, HOWDY HONDA, AUSTIN,TX. THEY AGAIN TOLD ME THE BATTERY WAS READING BAD, BUT I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AT ANOTHER SHOP AND AT THE PLACE OF PURCHASE, AND THE BATTERY WAS MORE THEN FINE AND TESTED GREAT IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER OF COURSE SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING WHEN THEY TESTED THE SYSTEM. THEY JUST PAWNED IT OFF ON THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD AND TESTING JUST FINE. THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE THE SYSTEM AND IF I FORGET TO PUSH THE IDLE STOP DISENGAGE BUTTON EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE, I COULD END UP ON THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND SOME DRIVER DECIDES NOT TO PAY ATTENTION AND RUN INTO ME AND MY DISABLED VEHICLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND SUCH A HAZARD AND HONDA DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE.
WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY, SUNROOF EXPLODED. SMALL PIECES OF GLASS PIECES WENT FLYING EVERYWHERE.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the emissions warning light illuminated. The light was illuminated for approximately five days and then disappeared. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,600.
MY CAR DIED ON ME AT A STOP SIGN WITH THE IDLE START/STOP FEATURE WITH 50K MILES ON IT ON 12/3/2019. (ONE WEEK PRIOR, THE 'EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM' POPPED UP.) I CAME TO A STOP AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THE IDLE START/STOP KICKED IN. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO HIT THE GAS, MY PILOT COMPLETELY DIED ON ME. IT WOULDN'T RESTART. MY DASH LOOKED LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT LIGHTS/WARNINGS POPPING UP EVERY TIME I WOULD TRY TO START IT. MY FRIEND CAME TO JUMP IT & IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER OVER 2.5 HOURS BLOCKING TRAFFIC & 2 POLICE OFFICERS HAVING TO DIRECT TRAFFIC, WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, I FINALLY GOT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. FIRST DAY THEY SAID THEY HAD NO CLUE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. 2ND DAY THEY CALLED & SAID THE PROBLEM WAS JUST A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE IDLE START/STOP. THEY SAID IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE & THERE IS NO RECALL & THEY ARE FIXING THEM ONLY AS THE ISSUE PRESENTS ITSELF. FORWARD TO 2/21/2020. 'EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM' POPS UP AGAIN. I DROP MY PILOT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN ON 2/24/2020. THIS TIME THEY SAY ALL MY FUEL INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE NEXT DAY THEY CALL ME AGAIN TO SAY WHEN THEY GOT IN THERE, MY SEALS WERE BAD & THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THOSE TOO. AFTER 3 DAYS, I GOT MY PILOT BACK. EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD IT BACK, MY IDLE START/STOP HAS ACTED LIKE IT WASN'T GOING TO COME BACK ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT & I TRY TO REMEMBER TO TURN IT OFF WHEN I GET IN MY CAR. I GO FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS & IT DINGS & THEN 'COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM' POPS UP & THEN GOES AWAY. 10/31/2020 DIED ON ME STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AGAIN WITH THE IDLE START/STOP FEATURE ON. I HAD TO CALL 911 & HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN.
A KNOWN TSB# 18-025 (FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM) WAS OUTSIDE OUR WARRANTY AND HONDA WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. DUE TO THE FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE THE VEHICLE BURNS EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE PER TANK. I HAVE RECORDED APPROXIMATELY 160 MILES PER TANK OF FUEL. IN ADDITION TO THROWING EMISSIONS RELATED CHECK ENGINE CODES.
While driving down the road the Engine started making a bearing noise and then started making a metallic rattling noise and then stopped. The car was towed to a Don Wessel Honda dealership in Springfield, MO, where they determined that parts in the engine just came apart. There were multiple holes in the Engine Block. I was told that this was not common and at 79093 miles it was no longer under Warranty. They replaced the engine with a used Engine from 2017. The total cost was $7483.90. I later learned that this was an issue that was recalled on this year and Model of car, but my VIN was not included. I believe my vehicle should have been included in the recall.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION OR STOPPED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SWITCH TO AUTO-START MODE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, THE TAILLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (780 W MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 90037, (213) 266-7366) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND THE BATTERY WAS DRAINING POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V668000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,383.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM APPEARS WHEN I START THE CAR. THE CAR STILL STARTS (FOR NOW AT LEAST) BUT I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH HONDA PILOTS ESPECIALLY AROUND THE 33,000 TO 38,000 MILES. HONDA DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS.
WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HAS A HESITATIONIN TO IT. MY FOOT REMAINS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND STILL HAS THE HESITATION OR JERKING MOTION, WHICH CAN BE FELT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED THE WEEK BEFORE WE LEFT TO GO OUT OF STATE. IT HAS CONTINUED ON SINCE THEN.
SINCE BUYING THIS VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER MODULE HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE DUE TO SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING AROUND A CORNER ON A CITY BLOCK SO TURNING LEFT AT 15 MILES PER HOUR THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERED A FAILURE AND ERROR MESSAGE AND ACCELERATED FORCING HIM OFF THE ROAD. DEALER HAS DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM IS SHOWING IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I NOTICED LOTS OF HONDA PILOT OWNER ARE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUES. I AM ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE BUT I AM AFRAID IT MAY HAVE TO DO WITH THE ENGINE BEING DISABLED SO I WILL PARK IT UNTIL THERE IS A SOLUTION. THIS HAS TO BE A DEFECT.
AFTER AUTOMATIC IDLE ENGINE STOP/START ENGAGES AND SHUT OFF VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHT, VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY WILL NOT RESTART AUTOMATICALLY. RESULTS IN BEING STOPPED AND STALLED OUT IN TRAFFIC FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER WHICH IT WILL RESTART VIA MANUAL PROCESS.
I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED IT CERTIFIED USED FROM GOUDY HONDA 626.576.1114 ON 11/13/2019. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AT TIME OF VEHICLE'S PURCHASE. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR LESS THAN 2000 MILES SINCE I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE STALLING ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES EACH BEING PROGRESSIVELY MORE ACUTE THAN THE PREVIOUS. I FIRST REPORTED THIS TO LONG BEACH HONDA AT MY SERVICE APT ON 10/15/2020. AT THAT TIME THE ISSUE WAS A HESITATION WHEN THE AUTO IDLE WOULD ENGAGE AT A RED LIGHT, IT WOULD START AFTER A SECOND OR TWO OF DELAY. TO COPE, WE HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE HABIT OF USING THE AUTO-OFF BUTTON BELOW THE GEAR SELECTOR. HOWEVER, THE LAST TWO TIME I HAVE FILLED UP FUEL AND GOT IN TO DRIVE OFF I HAVE FORGOTTEN TO 'PUSH THE BUTTON.' TODAY I FORGOT TO PUSH THE BUTTON AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR, WHEN MY CAR STALLED AND REFUSED TO START BACK UP. I NOTICED IN THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WERE ACTIVATED AND THE CAR GEAR SELECTOR WENT TO NEUTRAL. THE DANGER WAS I WAS ON A DOWN HILL SLOP AND ROLLED INTO TRAFFIC AS I MISSED MY WINDOW TO PULL OUT HAD MY CAR STARTED UP PROPERLY. THE DASH DISPLAYED THE PUSH BRAKE AND PUSH START MESSAGE. THAT DID NOTHING. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK USING THE PARK BUTTON AND THEN OPEN MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. AFTER I CLOSED THE DOOR THE CAR BEHAVED NORMAL AND STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY, THAT THE DRIVER HEADING AT MY DOOR WAS AWARE ENOUGH TO MITIGATE A MUCH WORSE TURN OF EVENTS. I WILL AGAIN REPORT THIS TO LONG BEACH HONDA WHEN THEY OPEN ON MONDAY. SEARCHING THE WEB I FOUND A NUMBER OF OTHER MODEL OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RESOLUTION PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS VEHICLE. I WILL BE INSTALLING A DASH CAM TO TRY AND CAPTURE THIS WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. ONCE THAT IS COMPLETE, I WILL HAVE A COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION OF THE CASE TO FORWARD TO COUNSEL. LEMON LAW.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR. THIS ERROR MESSAGE POPS UP ON THE SCREEN FOR WEEKS AT A TIME AND THE DISAPPEARS FOR AWHILE ONLY TO REAPPEAR. SO FAR I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM ACTUALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS THE SWITCH ASSEMBLY, ENGINE START & STOP - HONDA (35881-TG7-A03). THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE HONDA PILOT PROBLEM FORUMS, YET HONDA DOES NOT RECALL THE VEHICLES TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. INSTEAD THE DEALERS CHARGE ~ $150 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND $300-400 TO REPLACE THE UNIT. I WATCHED A VIDEO OF A HANDYMAN REPLACE THE UNIT IN 7 MINUTES AND HE PAID ONLY $70 FOR THE PART. THIS IS CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR NY HONDA AND ITS DEALERS IN MY OPINION. I WILL JUST FIX IT MYSELF, BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. YOUTUBE VIDEO OF PROBLEM AND REPAIR. STARTED CAR ONE MORNING AND KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR HAS POPPED UP AND HAS STAYED ON. WENT OFF FOR ONE DAY AND THEN CAME ON NEXT DAY.
I'VE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY 2016 HONDA PILOT IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. I CURRENTLY HAVE 110K MILES ON MY VEHICLE BUT MY PROBLEMS BEGAN AT AROUND 80K. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS ILLUMINATE CONSTANTLY. AT FIRST THEY WOULD LIGHT UP AND GO AWAY. BROUGHT IT TO SERVICE. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THEY CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE MY CAR ON AT LEAST A HALF TANK OF GAS. PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THEN MY CAR STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND IDLING ROUGHER. I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY FUEL INJECTORS. THAT WAS TAKEN CARE AND I STILL HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ALONG WITH EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM WARMING AND MY CAR STILL RUNS ROUGH AND HAS TROUBLE ACCELERATING. SONG WITH ALL OF THESE ISSUES I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY IGNITION AND KEY FOB AND MY AUTO START IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE OVER A100K ON THE CAR WHICH I UNDERSTAND CAN CAUSE WEAR AND TEAR BUT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS FAR EXCEED THE DEFINITION OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL ON ANYTHING AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REMEDY THESE SITUATIONS. MY CAR IS AT SERVICE YET AGAIN TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT TO RUN SO ROUGH. KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM MESSAGE COMES ON AS SOON AS I START THE CAR
I AM GETTING A KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR, NOBODY KNOWS WHY OR CAN FIX IT WITH THE SEVERAL MEASURES THEY HAVE TRIED.
THE CAR IS SHOWING "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" SIGN WHEN I JUST TURN ON THE CAR THESE DAYS.
AT A STOP LIGHT MY AUTO IDLE-OFF IS ENGAGED (ENGINE GOES OFF), BUT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE DOES NOT RESTART AND ENGINE GOES INTO NEUTRAL. I NEEDED TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AS CARS ARE EXPECTING ME TO MOVE. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED!
FAULTY START/STOP SWITCH-BASIC INTERNET SEARCH REFLECTS THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH 2016 HONDA PILOTS. THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHEN THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED AND MAY NOT RESTART DUE TO FAULTY SWITCH. WE HAD TO REPLACE SWITCH AT A COST OF $299.13. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.
PART 35881-TG7-702 - THE DASHBOARD START BUTTON - IS DEFECTIVE AND NO LONGER WORKING CONSISTENTLY AT 48,000 MILES. I HAVE TO HIT THE START BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE CAR TO START AND ONCE IT STARTS I OFTEN GET AN ERROR MESSAGE ""KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM - IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART, NOT A REPAIR I HAVE TO PAY FOR.

THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER NORM REEVES HONDA SUPERSTORE CERRITOS LOCATED AT 18500 STUDEBAKER RD, CERRITOS, CA 90703, (562) 345-9100 AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR. CAR HAVE BEEN SHOWING THIS ERROR INTERMITTENTLY. REPLACED BATTERIES AND STILL SHOWS ERROR. WHEN I PRESSED THE BUTTON TO START OR TURN OFF MY CAR, IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT AND IT TAKES A FEW PRESSES BEFORE IT'LL START/TURN OFF MY CAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IN STRONG WINDS, OR PASSING LARGER VEHICLES OR SEMIS, THE HOOD FLEXES AS IF IT IS GOING TO UNLATCH AND FLY OFF THE CAR. THIS IS NOT A MINOR FLEX, THE HOOD CAN BOUNCE 2-3 INCHES. IT IS EXTREMELY UNNERVING AND AFTER TIME, THE LATCH ON THE HOOD WILL FATIGUE AND EVENTUALLY BREAK. IT IS BECOMING LOOSE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS BY HONDA. THIS IS A SERIOUS OVERSIGHT. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE TRIED TO FIX IT, BUT NEVER WITH SUCCESS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. THANK YOU.
ERROR ' KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM'. IT HAS 57K MILES.
THE KEYLESS IGNITION SWITCH (PN: 35881-TG7-A03) FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT START, THE DEALER (KEENAN HONDA, DOYLESTOWN, PA) CHARGED US $127.74 FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART (RETAIL IS $68.20) AND ANOTHER $149.00 FOR LABOR (SHOULD ONLY HAVE TAKEN 10 MIN PER YOUTUBE).
I AND SEVERAL OTHER 2016 HONDA PILOT OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CODE ABOUT THE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION HAVING A PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY BLAMED THE ISSUE ON "CRITTERS," AS IN RODENTS/SQUIRRELS. I ASSURE YOU THIS IS NOT THE CASE! THE LIGHT APPEARED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT ALSO AFFECTED MY AUTO LOCK FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE. THIS MALFUNCTION IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE 2016 PILOT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY COULD TROUBLESHOOT WHERE THE MALFUNCTION IS BUT IT WOULD COST ME, STARTING AT $150. THE MECHANIC RESET THE CODE (FOR $65) AND IT HAS NOT SHOWN UP IN THE PAST WEEK SINCE I TOOK IT IN. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS ISSUE AND HONDA SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL. THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT OR SAFETY ISSUE.
THE CAR ENGINE/BATTERY SHUTS OFF AT STOP LIGHTS AND RED LIGHTS WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BREAK PEDAL. THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED A YEAR AGO. HONDA INITIALLY TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND UNTIL WE PRESSED ABOUT FINDING A KNOWN ISSUE REPORTED ONLINE THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. EVENTUALLY A REGIONAL SERVICE REP WAS INVOLVED WHO SAID THE ISSUE WAS KNOWN AND WAS WITH THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND FOR ONE YEAR HAD BEEN OKAY UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN SAME ISSUE BEGAN OCCURRING AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE TURNING OFF. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING. I AM NOW WAITING ON A REPEAT SERVICE VISIT ON OCTOBER 8, 2020 TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE THIS YEAR.
AFTER 4 YEARS AND 53,000 MILES, WE'RE NOW GETTING A KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR WHILE SHUTTING OFF OR TURNING ON THE VEHICLE WHILE STOPPED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS GENERATION PILOT AND RIDGELINE VEHICLES, ACCORDING TO VEHICLE OWNERS AT PILOTEERS.ORG, THE PROBLEM USUALLY IS A FAILING PUSH-TO-START BUTTON. SO FAR, OUR VEHICLE STARTS, BUT THE WALK-AWAY LOCKING SYSTEM NO LONGER WORKS. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED SECURITY SYSTEM ALARMS, DASHBOARD MALFUNCTION, AND A FAILURE TO START.
Start stop failed in middle of intersection. The car died and would not restart without a jump. Battery has been replay and it continues
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that the while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated, and the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the engine heater coil, the fuel injectors, and the camshaft however, the failure recurred. The fuel injectors were replaced a second time however, the vehicle continued to experience the hesitation while attempting to accelerate. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 40,000.

THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THE DEALERSHIP FINDS NO CODES TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE AUTO ENGINE SHUTOFF TO CONSERVE GAS WHEN THE BAKE IS DEPRESSED WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE CAR AND I AM NOT ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIME FROM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPING IN TRAFFIC TO BEING IN THE CITY STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. IT CAN TAKE UP TO A MINUTE OR MORE TO GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY TO DISABLE THIS FROM HAPPENING IS TO MANUALLY SHUT OFF THIS FEATURE EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE.
DURING DRIVING THE VEHICLE, EMISSIONS SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING CAME ON THE DISPLAY ON SEPT 1. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING OK, CALLED DEALER COULD GET APPOINTMENT FOR 9/11/2020. DURING DRIVING MY KID TO PRACTICE, THE SIGN CAME ON AGAIN, AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER VIOLENTLY. WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ACTIVE TRAFFIC AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC.
MY CAR WILL DIE AFTER BEING STOPPED (EX. AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN) AND WILL NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T DIE COMPLETELY. WHEN IT DOES YOU ARE UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK OR ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHERE WE WERE STOPPED AT A RED-LIGHT AND THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. A CAR BEHIND US WAS APPROACHING THE LIGHT AND SAW THAT IT WAS GREEN, QUICKLY CAME UP BEHIND US HONKING THEIR HORN AND LUCKY WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE OTHER LANE TO AVOID HITTING US. THIS SEAMS TO HAPPEN WHEN WE FORGET TO TURN OFF THE AUTO IDLE STOP. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO PUSH EVERYONE YOU START THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION AND CHANGED THE TIMING BELT. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THE CARS FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. AFTER ALL THIS WORK THE CAR IS STILL DYING AND IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW OF A FIX YET.
EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON AT 36,942 MILES. I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,500. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AT 942 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED.

AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS A RIDICULOUSLY COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THE 2016 PILOT; SO COMMON THAT I CANNOT BELIEVE HONDA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE FUEL INJECTORS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING...PERIOD. I'M DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA AND DONE WITH HONDA AFTER THIS CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THE FUEL INJECTOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOSPORT HONDA (1201 US-22, BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ 08807; (908) 722-5566) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE ABS SENSOR, 4 WHEEL DRIVE, TRAILER STABILIZER WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHEN STOPPED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET, THE AUTOMATIC STOP-IDLE FUNCTION DID NOT RESTART AND MY CAR STALLED WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED AT ATTEMPTS TO RESTART VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAD 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL. WE COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED AS WE WERE BLOCKING TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR A REPAIR. AT THIS POINT, I QUESTION THE REPAIR, AS MY CAR HAS COME CLOSE TO STALLING AGAIN 3 TIMES SINCE THIS OCCURRENCE.
KEYLESS START ENTRY SYSTEM ERROR HAS GONE INTERMITTENTLY FOR A YEAR OR SO ON MY 2016 HONDA PILOT. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS IN HONDA ONLINE DISCUSSION BOARDS. DOES NOT APPEAR TO AFFECT PERFORMANCE YET, BUT IS FRIGHTENING TO THINK CAR MAY NOT START OR MAY QUIT RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING. ERROR LIGHT IS ON WHEN CAR IS PARKED OR RUNNING.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND SUDDENLY EVER SINGLE WARNING LIGHT WENT ON, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I WAS TOLD I HAD A TIMING BELT FAILURE AND THAT MY ENGINE THREW PISTONS AND WAS DESTROYED. THIS VEHICLE HAD 78K AND HAD EVERY OIL CHANGE REQUIRED.
MY TIMING BELT FAILED AT UNDER 80K MILE AND AT LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. I WAS DRIVING AND COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AS MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE BELT THEN DESTROYED MY ENTIRE ENGINE.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS SUBTLE BUT CONCERNING JERKING BETWEEN 10-30MPH, ESPECIALLY WHILE ACCELERATING. THIS CAN BE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY, DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE STREET OR GOING UP HILLS. I NOTICED IT IS WORSE WHEN GOING UP A SLOPED SURFACE. UPON HAVING A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST DISMANTLE AND ANALYZE, I WAS INFORMED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND OTHER ELEMENTS OF THE TRANS WERE FAILING AND FALLING APART. AT UNUSUALLY LOW MILEAGE, THE TRANSMISSION WAS HEATING UP VERY HIGH BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE, DARKENING THE FLUID AND CARRYING ELEMENTS OF THE FAILING CONVERTER ETC INTO OTHER PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REQUIRES A FULL TRANS REBUILD WHICH COSTS RANGE FROM 4-7K DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU TAKE IT. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT A BASIC MECHANIC MAY MISS, BUT OWNERS WILL NOTICE FOR THIS YEAR/MODEL OVER THE LONG TERM. POTENTIAL DANGERS REPORTED ARE VERY CONCERNING, SO WE CHOSE TO HAVE THE TRANS FULLY REBUILT FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY. BASED OFF MY RESEARCH, HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS EXIST ONLINE FOR THIS YEAR/MODEL DESCRIBING THE SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE. HONDA SHOULD BE RECALLING THEIR TRANSMISSION FOR THE 2016 HONDA PILOT.
