Engine fails to restart when automatic engine start/stop is engaged. Once the car took over 15 mins to start back up again and I was at the end of an off ramp of a major highway. When the automatic engine start/stop is not disabled the cars engine turns off at a stop light or intersection and then will not start back up again. The worst example (taking over 15 mins to restart) occurred on Jan 31, 2019 however it has occurred since this incident multiples times and before this date as well.
AT JUST OVER 70K MILES, I GET THE DREADED "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM" WHEN I START MY CAR THE OTHER MORNING. I IMMEDIATELY TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND I AM TOLD I WILL NEED ALL 6 FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, HONDA'S TSB 018-25 INDICATES THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THIS FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE AS AN ISSUE THAT OCCURRED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, YET THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY TRANSPARENT ABOUT THE ISSUE, NOR HAVE THEY ISSUED A RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS ALSO RETURNING THE EXACT ERROR CODE AS INDICATED IN THE BULLETIN (P0301). THE BULLETIN I AM REFERRING TO (VERSION 2) WAS RELEASED IN APRIL 2018. HAD HONDA BEEN TRANSPARENT AND NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS OF THIS ISSUE DURING THIS TIME FRAME, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MANY CUSTOMERS WOULD HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE INJECTORS REPLACED, FOR FREE, DURING THEIR 3 YEAR/36K WARRANTY. WELL, NOW MANY OF THE PILOT OWNERS ARE BEYOND THIS POINT AND FIGURING THE ISSUE OUT THE HARD WAY AND POTENTIALLY HAVING TO FOOT A $1500-$2000 BILL. DECEPTIVE AND DECEITFUL BEHAVIOR LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. I HAVE OWNED FIVE HONDA AUTOMOBILE/MOTORCYCLE PRODUCTS IN MY LIFETIME AND THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THE 2016 PILOT HAS SEVERE QUALITY ISSUES. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A WARRANTY REPAIR WITHOUT A DOUBT.
WHEN STARTING MY CAR WARNING ON DASHBOARD GOES ON 'KEYLESS STARTING SYSTEM PROBLEM'. I'VE FIXED IT TWICE ALREADY, BUT FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ONLINE IT COMES BACK.
WHILE BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT AN APT. BUILDING AT THE SLOWEST SPEED IMAGINABLE, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON THE BACK WINDOW ON MY 2016 HONDA PILOT CAME IN CONTACT WITH AN OVERHANG STORAGE CABINET AT THE BACK OF THE PARKING SPACE AND THE WINDOW EXPLODED. ON MY BACKUP CAMERA, IT SAID I STILL HAD ROOM TO GO BACK BUT THAT IS BECAUSE THE WINDOW PROTRUDES MORE THAN THE BACKUP CAMERA. I AM ATTACHING PHOTOS HERE AND WOULD LIKE TO NOTE HOW CONCERNING IT IS THAT THE WINDOW EXPLODED WITH SO LITTLE IMPACT ON ONLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPER. I AM PAYING NEARLY $800 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THIS BECAUSE OF A HIGH DEDUCTIBLE BUT IT'S A BIGGER WORRY TO ME THAT THE DESIGN OF THE BACK WINDOW IS SO VULNERABLE. I HAVE SEARCHED AND FOUND MANY ACCOUNTS OF WEAKNESS IN REAR WINDOWS OF HONDA PILOTS ONLINE AND WANTED TO REGISTER MINE IN THE HOPE THAT THE SAFETY OF THE DESIGN WILL BE EXAMINED. I CAN PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS.
DISPLAY SHOWS REMOTE START SYSTEM PROBLEM, SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET. MOST SAY IT'S THE START/STOP SWITCH IN THE DASH. SO FAR IT DOES NOT SEEM TO EFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE CAR JUST ALWAYS KEEPS THE LIGHT ON SHOWING ENGINE PROBLEM. COMES ON AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED AND HAS BEEN SINCE APPROXIMATELY 1/19/2019
MY VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE SYSTEM ERROR MESSAGES THAT HAVE COME ON AND OFF WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR AND SOME HAVE BECAME MUCH MORE FREQUENT AND REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING. 1. KEYLESS STARTING SYSTEM ERROR- HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND REMAINS ON WHILE DRIVING. 2. ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ERROR- WHEN VEHICLE IS POWERED ON AND REMAINS ON FOR ABOUT 20 MINS AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE AND RETURNS WHEN CAR IS POWERED ON. 3. CHARGING SYSTEM ERROR- WAS COMING ON OCCASIONALLY AND AS OF TODAY HAS CAME ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS POWERED ON AND REMAINS ON WHILE DRIVING. 4. BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM- OCCASIONALLY COMES ON WHEN CAR IS POWERED ON AND COMES OFF AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE. ALSO, THE MOST RECENT ISSUES I'VE HAD WAS THE DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT WARM UP WHEN SEAT WARMER IS TURNED ON AND WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH VEHICLE BEGINS TO JERK AS IF IT IS STRUGGLING TO DRIVE. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BECOME MUCH MORE FREQUENT AND HAVE BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN.
ERROR MESSAGE 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM' THIS RECENTLY START HAPPENING, I HAVE RECENTLY BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND NO REAL ERROR SO THEY HAVE RESET THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT NOW IT'S BACK ON.
I PURCHASED THE CAR AT AROUND 43,000 AND FIRST 'EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM' LIGHT APPEARED IN THE CAR DASH AROUND 46,500 MILES. I GOT AN APPOINTMENT FROM MY HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, BUT BY THE TIME I BROUGHT IT, THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF. THEY READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND UPDATED SOFTWARE PART OF TSB #17-036. AFTER COUPLE HUNDRED MILES, LIGHT KEPT COMING ON-OFF AND EVERY TIME I GOT APPOINTMENT IT DISAPPEARED AND I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT. FINALLY I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 58.500 MILES EVEN IF THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD. THEY READ THE SAME SOFTWARE CODE BUT THEY RUN DIAGNOSIS AND FINALLY FOUND ISSUE WITH INJECTORS. THEY TOLD ME THAT INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. I REACHED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND MADE THEM AWARE OF MY PROBLEM. AFTER WAITING NEARLY 1-WEEK, HONDA DEALER REACHED ME AND SAID AMERICAN HONDA IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE IT IS CONSIDER AS PART OF 3 YEARS/36.000 MILES WARRANTY. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND INJECTOR ISSUE AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSIS FOR 3-4 HOURS AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE SHOWING THIS ISSUE IS USER RELATED. AMERICAN HONDA ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE(TSB #18-025) WHICH SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR PILOT MODELS AND I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY PRODUCTION/DESIGN PROBLEM AND MIGHT NEED A RECALL FOR FUTURE RISKS.
WHEN ENGINE TRIES TO RESTART FROM IDLE STOP THE ENGINE STALLS AND FAILS TO RESTART. HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE DEALER CAN NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. IS A DANGER WHILE AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. RADIO ALSO TURNS OFF WHEN TRYING TO RESTART. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE GOES INTO IDLE STOP MODE.
THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ON OCT 7, 2018. WE WERE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE ENGINE IDLE OPTION ENABLED. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE STARTED BACK UP, BUT INSTEAD, IT STALLED. AFTER THE 2ND TIME IT OCCURRED, WE STARTED TO DISABLE THE ENGINE IDLE FEATURE AS SOON AS WE START THE CAR. WE HAVE FORGOTTEN A FEW TIMES AND THE VEHICLE STALLING HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES. ALL BEING AT RED LIGHTS WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED. WHEN THE FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE JERKS SLIGHTLY AND THEN STALLS. ONCE ON NOV. 1, 2018 AND AGAIN MOST RECENTLY ON JAN. 6, 2018. LUCKILY, NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED YET. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AT THE DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY AND RECEIVED ALL MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDED. THE MOST RECENT SERVICE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ERROR OR IDENTIFY THE ISSUE.
I HAVE A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM' I CHANGED BATTERIES ON BOTH KEYFOBS AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME
VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY WHEN GETTING AIRBAG SYSTEM (SRS) PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL MY HONDA PILOT ONLY 83000 MILES. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND EMMISSION PROBLEM BOTH LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I FELT THE CAR NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE, I IMMEDIATELY TURNED INTO A LOT AND I AM WAITING HERE EVER SINCE BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T MOVING FORWARD.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR DISPLAYS ON DASHBOARD.
THERE IS JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING MY VEHICLE. THIS TAKES PLACE TYPICALLY WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20 AND 60 MPH. THIS SEEMINGLY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS VERY WORRYING FOR MY 2016 HONDA PILOT. I STARTED NOTICING IT AT AROUND 20K MILES. AT THE CURRENT TIME, MY MILEAGE IS AT 50K. I WORRY WHAT WILL HAPPEN DOWN THE YEARS. I AM ALMOST THINKING OF DISPOSING THE CAR. A MANUFACTURER LIKE HONDA NEEDS TO OWN THIS PROBLEM AND HELP ITS CUSTOMERS WITH A FIX.
December 2017 I was driving my 2016 Honda pilot back from Florida and the car immediately reduce speed to about 25 to 35 mph. I had my OBD2 in the car so I reset the code and the car start driving fine and every time I will leave the gas station it will do the same thing dealership took the car said it was a throttle position sensor fixed it and the car broke down two days after getting it. I was told it was corrected for sure this time. However I'm saying a recall on Honda engines 2016 but my engine is not included. In 2024 I took the vehicle in for service and they said there was a recall for the ignition switch however since they fixed the ignition switch I have issues at times starting the car. I've also had to pay to get the electronic steering fixed.
FOR A COUPLE DAYS WHEN I WOULD WALK AWAY FROM THE CAR THE AUTO LOCK WASN'T WORKING. IT WOULD BEEP ONCE BUT WOULDN'T LOCK. NOW THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHEN I START THE CAR. IT HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME I DRIVE IT IN THE LAST FEW DAYS. THERE HAS BEEN ABOUT 3 TIMES IT DOESN'T COME ON. NOW THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS WORK SPORADICALLY WHEN WALKING AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY EACH TIME SINCE IT'S JUST BEING STARTED.
I HAVE BEEN GETTING A KEYLESS SYSTEM START ERROR UPON STARTING MY CAR SINCE 32,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT AND THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BECOME LESS INTERMITTENT AS TIME HAS GONE ON; MEANING THAT THE PROBLEM/ERROR MESSAGE IS NEARLY CONSTANT. I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY IN BOTH KEYLESS REMOTES, BUT THIS HAS NOT CORRECTED THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED TO RESET THE ERROR CODE AND UPDATE THE COMPUTER. NEITHER OF THESE HAVE CORRECTED THE ISSUE. THE MESSAGE DID GO AWAY FOR A DAY OR TWO, BUT HAS RETURNED. THIS ISSUE HAS ALSO CAUSED THE CAR TO NO LONGER USE THE AWAY LOCK SYSTEM AND MY KEYLESS REMOTE DOES NOT WORK AT TIMES AND/OR THE AUTO LOCK SWITCH IN THE CARS. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE ERROR MESSAGE WILL BING AS A REMINDER WHILE THE CAR IS ON. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE MESSAGE SUDDENLY APPEAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAVE NOTIFIED HONDA OF THIS ISSUE, BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE FROM HONDA. THIS ISSUE WAS REPORTED OVER A MONTH AGO. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS ISSUE MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NOT COME ON OR POSSIBLE SHUT THE CAR OFF WHILE IN MOTION. I AM ALREADY APPREHENSIVE WITH THE LOCKS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AT TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK BROOKS HONDA (14100 E WADE HAMPTON BLVD, GREER, SC 29651, (864) 877-9090) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND A TRANSMISSION UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED EVERY 1,500 MILES. THE CONTACT REFERENCED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 10161287 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, IT WAS EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOUR TIMES TO MILLENNIUM HONDA (286 FRANKLIN ST, NY 11550, (516) 481-2800) WHERE THE SOFTWARE UPDATED WAS COMPLETED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A FIFTH TIME, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING LIGHT IS IGNITED ON THE DASHBOARD. IT STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 45,000 MILES ON IT. THE WALK AWAY AUTO LOCK FEATURE STOPPED WORKING ALSO. THE KEY FOB BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE WARNING LIGHT STILL REMAINS ON. THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND REMAINS ON DURING DRIVING, IT DOES NOT GO AWAY.
KEYLESS REMOTE SYSTEM PROBLEM. NOTICED THIS PROBLEM AFTER REACHING 36,000 MILES
I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON A FREEWAY, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND CAR WAS IN DRIVE, WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF BREAK AND PUSHED GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK AND IT WOULD NOT GO, I TRIED TO TURN OFF CAR AND IT WOULDN'T TURN OFF. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD SAID TO PUSH BRAKE AND TURN ON CAR (SAME MESSAGE AS WHEN I REMOTE START CAR) AFTER 2 SOLID MINUTES, THE CAR FINALLY DROVE. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IMPACTED BY THE ECON MODE WHICH SHUTS OFF ENGINE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS FULLY ENGAGED. YOU ARE ABLE TO TURN THIS MODE OFF ON THE GEAR SHIFT BUT HAVE TO DO IT EVERY TIME YOU START THE CAR.
KEYLESS ENTRY WARNING. WARNING IS INTERMITTENT.
ON 2 OCCASIONS, THE AUTOMATIC IDLE STOP HAS TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND NOT ALLOWED THE CAR TO BE TURNED BACK ON. ONE TIME THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY RESTARTED, BUT THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMPED BY HIGHWAY PATROL. IT WAS AT A BUSY INTERSTATE EXIT RAMP, STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, AND WE WERE UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE WAY. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT WAS GOOD. I CONTACTED HONDA VIA EMAIL AND THEY JUST RESPONDED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND TO CONTACT THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE THE FEATURE. NOW, TO ENSURE THAT I AM NOT IN ANOTHER DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO THIS FEATURE, I HAVE TO MANUALLY DISABLE IT EVERY TIME I TURN THE CAR ON.
I HAD TWO BIG ISSUES (SOME SMALL ISSUES AS WELL) FOR MY 2016 HONDA PILOT. FIRST IS THE PAINT ISSUE, THE PAINT ON THE DOOR WAS OFF AND THE DOORS WERE RUSTED PRETTY BAD. I SPENT A LOT TO TIME GO BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP, BOTH OF US WERE TIRED OF THIS ISSUE. ANOTHER ISSUE JUST HAPPENED TO ME TODAY, "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" SHOWED UP TODAY, THE WALK AWAY AUTO-LOCK FEATURE DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE, AFTER COUPLE OF DRIVES, THE ERROR MESSAGE GOES AWAY, BUT THE WALK AWAY FEATURE STILL DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND I BELIEVE A LOT OF OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY CAR JUST WENT OUT OF WARRANTY AT ABOUT 38K MILES, AND I SAW ONLINE A LOT OF OWNERS SAW THIS MESSAGE AROUND THIS MILEAGE. I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME HONDA OWNER, BUT THIS NEW PILOT MAKES ME VERY UPSET ALL THE TIME. A LOT OF ISSUE. A LOT...
BEGINNING ABOUT 4 OR 5 MONTHS AGO WITH ABOUT 38000 OR 39000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE I STARTED TO RECEIVE THE MESSAGE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" ON MY DASHBOARD DISPLAY. AS OF NOW, THIS MESSAGE APPEARS TO HAVE NO AFFECT ON THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I MUST ADMIT I HOLD MY BREATH EVERY TIME I START THE CAR AND ALSO AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL HAVE SOME DISASTROUS EFFECT AT A VERY INOPPORTUNE AND DANGEROUS TIME. THIS MESSAGE COMES AND GOES - SOMETIME LASTING A COUPLE OF START/STOP/RESTART CYCLES, SOMETIMES HOURS OR DAYS AT A TIME. ONLY APPEARS OR DISAPPEARS WITH THE STARTING OF THE CAR - NEVER (YET) AFTER THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS PROBLEM WITH 3 DEALERS AND NONE IS FAMILIAR WITH IT. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING (ON HONDA PILOT USER GROUP FORUMS) DEALERS HAVE JUST BEEN REPLACING PARTS THAT SOUND LIKE THEY COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM. I HAVE WRITTEN AMERICAN HONDA IN CA - AM AWAITING REPLY.
WHEN GOING TO START THE VEHICLE, CONTINUALLY GET "KEYLESS START PROBLEM". HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES WHERE THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANY ERRORS LOGGED. I EVEN HAVE PICTURES OF IT. SOMETIMES THE CAR WON'T EVEN START AT ALL. WE AT ONE TIME HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AFTER TRYING TO START IT FOR 30 MINUTES. GOT A NEW BATTER AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. HAVE REPLACED BATTERIES IN BOTH KEY FOBS. BEEN TO 2 OTHER MECHANICS AND NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THE CAR IS ALWAYS AT REST AND STITTING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE WARNINIG LIGHT WON'T GO OFF UNTIL AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF.
DURING START UP AND WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COME ON, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND INFORMED THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED REPLACED. FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN STATING THAT HONDA HAS FOUND FUEL INJECTORS WERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY DURING MANUFACTURING.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR APPEARS RANDOMLY AND THE WALK AWAY LOCK FEATURE NO LONGER WORKS. IT HAPPENS IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER WITH BOTH KEY FOBS. BATTERIES WERE ALSO CHANGED IN THE KEY FOB. SEEMS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE WITH NO CLEAR ANSWER WHY
DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON FLAT ROAD AT 40 MPH. VEHICLE SOUNDS AN ALERT AND BEGINS DISPLAYING ERRORS. THE ERRORS ROTATES THROUGH THE DISPLAY OF SEVERAL FAULTS WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING -- IDLE OR IN DRIVE. PROBLEMS DISPLAYED INCLUDED, IN ORDER: EMISSIONS SYSTEMS, POWER STEERING SYSTEM, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST, HILL START ASSIST, TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST, AND ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO A STOP, ENGINE SHUT OFF, THEN RESTARTED. THESE FAULTS RETURN WHEN THE CAR RESTARTS. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE GIVEN THE REPORTED STATE. MILEAGE: 34,122. REGISTERED NEW IN 12/2016. ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER, 24, AT APPROXIMATE 9:45 AM I WAS DRIVING UPHILL AND NOTICED MY ENGINE WAS MAKING AN ODD SOUND. IT MADE IT WHEN I ACCELERATED, BUT STOPPED AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. AS I GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL, THERE WAS NO MORE SOUND. ABOUT 1 MINUTE LATER I PULLED INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, THE CAR WAS ON A SLIGHT UPWARD ANGLE, AND I WAS GOING TO TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN VALITION. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 FEET AWAY FROM A PARKED CAR, AND MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING FULL SPEED TOWARDS THIS CAR. AT THE TIME, I BELIEVE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE SHOCKING WHY THE CAR WAS PROPELLING FORWARD. I QUICKLY STOMPED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. IT HIT THE PARKED CAR WITH TWO OCCUPANTS.
Vehicle unexpectedly and unpredictably shuts down when stopped for a red light, at stop sign, or for an extended break period. Vehicle does not immediately restart after shutting off. Vehicle is available for inspection; however, given the safety concerns for our family and unanswered questions from Honda with no resolution in sight, we plan to buy a new vehicle. Vehicle has been disabled when it shuts down in the middle of intersections with cars swerving to avoid. It puts vehicle occupants and other drivers at risk of an accident. Dealer cannot reproduce. After the 1st instance, dealer claimed they found info that was sent to Honda corporate. Vehicle has been inspected by dealership with Honda corporate involvement 3 times. After the 1st time, Honda corporate/dealership replaced battery and state of charge sensor at no cost even though vehicle was not under warranty. After 2nd time, Honda said valves may need adjusting but refused to cover expensive ($1000) work and indicated they were not sure it would even resolve issue. If issue continued, they stated they would not refund money. They now refuse any resolutions without reproducing the car shutting down. There are no warnings, messages, or notifications that vehicle will shut down until it does. A variety of errors display after the vehicle shuts down and vehicle shifts on its own into neutral.
HONDA PILOT 2016 EMISSION PROBLEM SIGNAL APPEARS ON DASH BOARD, CAR DECREASES IN POWER WHILE DRIVING.
OUR 3 YEAR OLD CAR AT ABOUT 28,000 MILES STARTED DISPLAYING THE WARNING MESSAGE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" NEARLY ALMOST EVERY TIME IT IS STARTED. (NOTE, THIS PROBLEM DEVELOPED THE MONTH AFTER IT'S WARRANTY EXPIRED...) WHEN THE MESSAGE FIRST DISPLAYED WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE STARTING SYSTEM, ONLY THAT OUR ELECTRONICS SYSTEM NEEDED AN UPDATE. WITH THE UPDATE, THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED FOR A FEW WEEKS, BUT HAS NOW RETURNED AND IS APPEARING NEARLY EVERY TIME WE START THE CAR. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER MINE OR MY WIFE'S KEY IS USED, AND CHANGING THE BATTERY IN THE KEYS HAS NOT CHANGED ANYTHING EITHER. WE HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACTUAL ISSUE WITH STARTING THE CAR, IT'S JUST THAT WE NOW HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS CONSTANT WARNING LIGHT. IN LOOKING ONLINE, THERE ARE MULTIPLE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR 2016 HONDA PILOT'S AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS FAIRLY WELL ESTABLISHED ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE / MODEL.
MY VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING WOULD NOT START AFTER GETTING HOME AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE PANEL STATES AND IGNITION SYSTEM ERROR. ALL OF THE LIGHTS AND OTHER FUNCTIONS WORK WELL BUT IT WILL NOT START WHILE PHYSICALLY IN THE VEHICLE OR WITH THE REMOTE. IT MAKES A CONTINUOUS CLICKING SOUND ALL OF THE LIGHTS FLASH ON THE VEHICLE BUT NOTHING MORE.
2016 HONDA PILOT A/C GRINDING NOISE AFTER ACTIVATED AT COLD START AFTER MORE THAN 36-48 HOURS PARKED. WHEN A/C ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BELT SYSTEM SLIPS AND PULLS FORWARD LOOSING SPEED. A/C COMPRESSOR DAMAGE CONFIRMED BY DEALER AND HONDA CONFIRMED AND ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM DUE TO SEVERE LOOP ON THE A/C SUCTION HOSE DESIGN ON THIS MODEL CAUSING ISSUES WITH THE OIL FLOW. ISSUE FOUND AT 12,444 MILES AND CURRENT MILEAGE 17,874 .ONGOING ISSUE SINCE 2016. NO FIX AT THE MOMENT ACCORDING TO HONDA. ACCORDING TO THIS THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT WHICH EXPLAINS THE LOSS OF POWER ON THE BELT SYSTEM.
I KEEP RECEIVING A CODE THAT STATES "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM". HONDA DEALERSHIP STATES THEY RESET COMPUTER BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES TO SHOW EVERY TIME I START VEHICLE. APPARENTLY THEY EITHER CAN'T FIX IT OR THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. HAD PROBLEM FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS.
WHEN STARTING CAR, KEYLESS START PROBLEM COMES UP ON DASH. CAR STARTS FINE, EVERYTHING WORKS. BUT WARNING REMAINS UNTIL CAR IS SHUT OFF. TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, REPLACED BATTERIES AT THE DEALER. THEY HAVE NO ANSWERS. EVEN MADE SURE MY PURSE OR PHONE WERE NOT THE ISSUE. AT A LOSS. PROBLEM STARTED IN NOVEMBER. ALMOST 38,000 MILES ON IT. SEEMS LIKE THIS IS THE MAGIC NUMBER ACCORDING TO OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. THE REMOTE START DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. TRIED IT AT A CLOSE PROXIMITY AND IT WORKED BUT THE WARNING CAME UP AS KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. IT NEVER DID THAT BEFORE. AGAIN, EVERYTHING SEEMS TO WORK FINE, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG NONE THE LESS.
WHEN TRYING TO START VEHICLE YOU RECEIVE 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM'. TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 49000 MILES TODAY AND HAVE HAD THIS INTERMITTENT ISSUE SINCE 42000 MILES. FOB BATTERIES HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED AND SUPPOSEDLY REPROGRAMMED. STILL UNABLE TO RESOLVE. LET ME KNOW IF AND HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
AT 37000 MILES KEYLESS SYSTEM START PROBLEM ERROR SHOWED ON THE DASH. SHORTLY AFTER THE IGNITION PUSH TO START BUTTON BEGAN TO INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORK. THE ERROR MESSAGE AND START BUTTON PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED WITH THE START BUTTON BECOMING WORSE. IT NOW CAN TAKE SEVERAL TRIES TO START THE CAR AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. IT IS EXTREMELY STRESSFUL ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND CANNOT GET THE CAR TO GO!

EVER SO OFTEN ALL OF THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS WILL CYCLE. IT WILL SOMETIMES LAST FOR 3 DAYS AND THEN RESET ITSELF. THEN ABOUT A MONTH OR SO LATER THE LIGHTS WILL START CYCLING AGAIN. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE CAR HAD JUST BEEN STARTED. BEFORE STARTING THE CAR I DID OPEN AND CLOSE THE BACK HATCH. THE VERY FIRST TIME THE 5 LIGHTS CYCLED IS WHEN THE BACK HATCH JAMMED WHEN CLOSING. IT HIT SOMETHING IN THE DOOR JAMB. THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE: TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM, POWER STEERING PROBLEM AND EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM.
VEHICLE TURNS OFF COMPLETELY WHEN AUTO OFF FEATURE ENGAGES WHILE IN A STOPPED CONDITION. ON TWO OCCASIONS, VEHICLE REFUSED TO RESTART FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 2-3 MINUTES, THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, CAR WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL 10-15 MIN AFTER THE OCCURRENCE. DURING BOTH OCCURRENCES, I WAS IN A STOP CONDITION WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, VEHICLE IN DRIVE. DEALER SAYS BATTERY TESTS FINE AND CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE, BUT I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. ONLY OUT OF SHEAR LUCK, IT HAPPENED TO ME WHILE AT A RESIDENTIAL GATE KEY PAD PUNCHING IN THE CODE, AND THEN TODAY WHILE IN THE DRIVE THRU OF A FAST FOOD PLACE. IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON A BUSY STREET, AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, WHILE SITTING IN STANDSTILL TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, ETC, IT COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

HONDA PILOT 2016 MODEL WITH 30000 MILES HAS STALLED ON HIGHWAY INTERSTATE SUDDENLY WITHIN 2 MIN OF SIGNALLING MESSAGES OF ENGINE TEMPERATURE TOO HOT, TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM ETC...AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL MODE WITH FAILURE OF BRAKES. CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO BRAKES AS IT WENT TO NEUTRAL STATE. ALSO NOTICED A BURNING OR GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE THE CAR . I HAD TO APPLY PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING ON HIGHWAY WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO A MAJOR CRASH. AS I WAS NOT ON THE SPEEDING LANES, THINGS WERE NOT WORSE. I HAD TO CALL 911 AND THEY HELPED ME MOVE MY CAR TO A SHOULDER AND LATER TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME HAPPENING FOR THE SAME ISSUE WHERE EARLIER IT HAPPENED ON A LOCAL ROAD. THE SAME DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND RETURNED THE CAR SAYING ITS FIXED.WITHIN 30 MIN OF DRIVING INTO THE HIGHWAY, IT STALLED AGAIN THIS TIME THE SITUATION BEING ON HIGHWAY. THE CAR IS NOW RETURNED TO SAME DEALER WHO FIXED FIRST TIME AND IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

I'M GETTING A KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM THAT STARTED STATIONARY AND REMAINS AS THE CAR DRIVES. I CHANGE THE BATTERIES SEND I TRIED THE ALTERNATE KEY, I DID THE DIAGNOSIS RESET. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS HELLO I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. IN ADDITION, I'M GETTING EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE OXYGEN SENSOR IN QUESTION IS NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE BY MY MECHANICS. I WOULD TROUBLE RESET AND IT WILL RETURN.
