Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)While starting to drive from a red light, I was about a car length or 1.5 car length away from the vehicle ahead of me. As I was driving forward because the light turned green keeping the same distance, the car gave me a second and a half of the collision warning, then immediately went to emergency break-in and stopped me in the middle of the intersection during morning rush hour. The car behind me almost slammed into me. This happens once in a while when backing up in parking lots. There’s no one behind me but a curb or some grass. I’m not close it to but the emergency breaking system comes on and stops me. Since the stop is abruptly there’s been times another car could have potentially hit me while either trying to go around me as I’m backing out of a spot in a parking lot or as I mentioned today the car stopping me in the middle of the intersection during a green light. It’s been so random, it hasn’t been reproduced. The car was inspected for the other recalls a few days ago but not for the emergency braking system. The warning was very quick today. It didn’t last more than a second before it started to brake itself. I didn’t have time to react to the warning. After researching online I see this is more common than I thought.
driving on i55 south bound near weber road in will county on 10/07/2025 at approximately 3:40 pm my 2024 palisade all of a sudden slammed on the brakes and alerted an audible message of eminent collision. there was no collision that was even present or going to happen. I was doing about 70mph and the car braked hard down to 20 mph. luckily no one behind rear ened me. traffic was moving at 70 to 80 mph and there were no other vehicles or incidents going on that would have caused this
I was driving 15 miles an hour in a neighborhood and approached a stop sign. When I went to brake, the brakes vibrated, the steering wheel shook and I wasn’t stopping. I pushed down harder and eventually stopped just before entering the intersection. The roads were dry and smooth, no gravel, but it felt like I was sliding on gravel or ice. This has happened several times before in rough parking lots but I thought it was just a random fluke because of gravel or a bump in the road. No sensors or warning lights came on. It happened on a Sunday so we will contact the dealership tomorrow. We have an extended warranty.
Collision warning and car came to an immediate stop while driving
On three seperate occasuions while going over small bumps in the road and braking at the same time, the car will automatically release the brakes and coast over the bumps. Each time I was apporaching stopped vehicles at stop lights. I was within inches of hitting them each time.
When driving at slow rate of speed, the "Check Forward Safety System" and "Check Side Safety System' lights will come on spontaneously and will turn off after a few moments and/or if I shut the vehicle off and turn it back on. This happened another time when I was parked in the vehicle where the lights came on spontaneously.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
