WHILE DRIVING MY CAR A "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" DISPLAY APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR TURNED OFF AS I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. IT LATER STARTED AGAIN BUT SHUT DOWN AFTER SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR IT WOULD JERK UNTIL REACHING SPEEDS ABOVE 30-40 MPH. *JS
I HAVE PURCHASE MY VEHICLE IN MARCH-2011 AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS I HAVE ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED, BUT I WILL STICK WITH A RECURRING ISSUE. 4/11/12 I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN BECAUSE A BLOWN PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT THAT WENT OUT. THEY DETERMINED THAT UPON INSPECTION FOUND AN OPEN CIRCUIT DUE TO BLOWN RIGHT FRONT BULB. IT WAS "CORRECTED." 06/07/12 TOOK MY VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT THAT WENT OUT. INSTALLED BULB 5/2/13 TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR A BLOWN PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT THAT WENT OUT. "UNDETERMINED." 2/5/14 TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR A BLOWN PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT THAT WENT OUT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CROSSED INTO ANOTHER LANE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,000.
STEERING TOO TIGHT, WRIST AND HANDS GET VERY STRESSED IN SHORT TIME, KEEPS PULLING TO A SIDE, NEED TO PUT FORCE ON STEERING TO STAY IN LANE, VERY STRESSFUL TO MAKE TURNS AT ALL SPEEDS, STEERING SET TO LOW STIFFNESS BY DEALER, YET VERY PAINFUL, NO FIX FROM DEALER, SAYS THATS HOW IT IS SINCE ITS ELECTRONIC STEERING. I SEE SEVERAL BLOGS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, SURPRISING THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY. TURBO FAILED TWICE BEFORE 50K. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 63 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED. UPON APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE HE APPLIED THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF A VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CRASH SITE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, NO ONE INVESTIGATED THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE EMITTING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS, AND THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME - MAYBE ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK, USUALLY ON MY WAY TO WORK OR COMING HOME FROM WORK. I REVERSE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT HOME AND REVERSE OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT AT WORK. I TURN MY CAR ON AND SHIFT MY CAR INTO REVERSE, I HEAR A THUMP AND A VERY SLIGHT LUNGE WITHOUT EVER TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE. WHEN I SHIFT IT TO FORWARD DRIVE, IT SHIFTS AS IT SHOULD. THEN, AS I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL FROM 0-20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO LURCH INTO THE NEXT GEAR. IT LURCHES AGAIN WHEN I SPEED UP TO 30-40 MPH. AS I TRAVEL ON THE INTERSTATE BETWEEN 40-80 MPH, I CAN FEEL THE CAR LURCH INTO A LOWER AND HIGHER GEARS AS I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND ACCELERATE. IT IS USUALLY TEMPORARILY FIXED BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. WHEN I SAY "LURCH", IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR DECREASES SPEED FOR A SPLIT SECOND AND THEN RESUMES PROPER SPEED QUICKLY. IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT THREE OR FOUR MONTHS, BUT SINCE THE WEIRD GEAR SHIFTING HAPPENS SO RARELY, I DIDN'T THINK TO LOOK IT UP AND DO SOME INTERNET RESEARCH UNTIL NOW. IT APPEARS LIKE A GOOD AMOUNT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING LOT AND CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, JUMPED A CURB WHICH WAS FIVE INCHES HIGH AND FIVE INCHES WIDE, SMASHED INTO A FENCE AND CAME TO REST ON A SCATTERED PILE OF BRICKS. I HURT MY KNEE WHICH HIT THE DASHBOARD. THIS INJURY DID NOT REQUIRE HOSPITALIZATION ALTHOUGH I WAS IN A STATE OF SHOCK.THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHICH IS NOW IN THE BODY SHOP. IT WILL TAKE THREE WEEKS AT LEAST TO REPAIR THE CAR. IN THE MEANTIME I AM DRIVING A RENTAL CAR. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A CASE OF UNINTENDED SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAUSED BY AN ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION. I RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2011. I WAS VERY EXCITED OF BUYING MY FIRST HYBRID AND THE SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS IN GAS. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE CAR, ALTHOUGH I HAVE REALIZED THAT THE SAVINGS IN GAS WERE GOOD IN THE BEGINNING, BUT HAVE DRAMATICALLY DECREASE LATELY. IN THE LAST MONTH OF MARCH 2012, WHEN DRIVING IN TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY, MY ESC LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR NO REASON IN PERFECT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND THEN WHEN I STOP SOMEWHERE E.G. WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPOT TO A DINER, THE CAR UNINTENDED ACCELERATED CRASHING INTO THE SIDE OF THE DINER. MINOR DAMAGE TO THE SIDE OF THE DINER AS I WAS NO MORE THAN 3 FEET FROM THE BLDG. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THIS ACCELERATION OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS ENTERING THE PARKING SPOT AT NO MORE THAN 5 MPH PLANNING TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EXIT FOR LUNCH. THREE MONTHS AGO MY FIRST TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR BROKE. I WAS PARKED IN AN INDOOR PARKING GARAGE AND FOUND MY CAR WITH A FLAT DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE. I PUT ON THE SPARE AND DROVE TO A TIRE CENTER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR HAD BROKEN. I HAD A RUBBER VALVE INSTALLED AND THEN LATER THAT WEEK BROUGHT THE CAR TO A DEALER AND HAD THE TPS REPLACED. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING AND MY TIRE PRESSURE ALARM LIT ON MY DASHBOARD. I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT AIR IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. AS I STARTED TO PLACE THE AIR PUMP ONTO THE VALVE HE TIP OF THE TPS BROKE OFF IN MY HAND, CAUSING THE ENTIRE TIRE TO FLATTEN INSTANTLY. AGAIN, I HAD TO PUT THE SPARE ON AND DRIVE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND HAVE A RUBBER VALVE PUT IN. TODAY (ONE WEEK LATER), A THIRD TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAILED, THIS TIME THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE. I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE THIS ONE HAPPEN IN MY DRIVEWAY INSTEAD OF ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE TIRES INSTANTLY FLATTEN, AND CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF IT OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

CHRONOLOGY - 2/21/12; 26,995 MILES, LIA OF HARTFORD - SHIFT KNOB REPLACEMENT (STILL HAD THE PROBLEM AFTERWARD); 10/21/14, 74,730 MI, LIA, ECLIP ON SHIFTER (STILL HAD THE PROBLEM AFTERWARD); 2/10/16; 94,814 MI KEY OF MANCHESTER, (RECALLS: ENGINE SHAVINGS, BRAKE PEDAL STOPPER, FRONT RIGHT INSIDE DOOR HANDLE) - THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NO REPAIR MADE; 11/29/16, 107,014 MI - KEY MANCH, THEY IDENTIFIED NOTED TSB ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROBLEM EVEN STATING CAR MANUFACTURE DATE IN RANGE FOR THE PROBLEM - BUT AFTER ASKING, MANUFACTURER WON'T COVER COST OR EVEN PORTION - AND I HAD TO PAY DIAGNOSIS CHARGE OF $62.50 (WHICH THEY SAID THEY REDUCED BY 50% - AND ALSO RECOMMENDED REPLACING MY TIMING BELT, BUT I BELIEVE CAR HAS A CHAIN WHICH DOESN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED). I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 10 REPAIRS DONE TO MY CAR THAT WERE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER, INCLUDING ONE FOR A TSB AFTER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED (THE ECLIP). IN ADDITION, I HAVE PAID FOR REPAIRS THAT I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED (A NEW STARTER DUE TO A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH AN INTERNAL PLASTIC LEVER, AND REPLACEMENT OF THE INSIDE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE - NOTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INSIDE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE WAS PAID FOR 2 YEARS LATER). MY REQUEST - REPAIR THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WHICH HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT AND REQUIRES ME TO REPEATEDLY TURN THE CAR BACK ON, MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER OUT OF PARK, UNTIL I CAN COMPLETELY SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE PROBLEM MAY BE A SAFE ISSUE, SINCE I HEAR A LOAD CLICK WHEN IT FINALLY DOES GO INTO PARK AND I CAN TURN OFF CAR. *TR
WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK TODAY I NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS LOOSE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC CLIPS THAT HOLD THE ASSEMBLY IN PLACE WERE BROKEN. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND HAVE GOTTEN THE RUN AROUND ABOUT WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. I HAVEN'T BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT AND THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR. CURRENTLY, STILL TRYING TO GET IT FIXED BUT THE DEALER DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY HELP. *TR
BLUETOOTH NEVER INITIALIZES WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD. MUST WARM UP (30 MINUTES) IN ORDER FOR IT TO INITIALIZE. *TR
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SWITCH CAR WON'T START WITH PUSH BUTTON START ON MY SE. I JUMPED THE CAR GOT IT STARTED TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR I HAVE DELT WITH FOR 6 YEARS WAS THERE SHE TOLD ME THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACING THESE SWITCHES AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN JUST HOLD DOWN THE PUSH BUTTON START FOR 30 SECONDS AND IT WILL OVER RIDE THE SWITCH AND START. WELL SHE WAS RIGHT IT HAPPENED THIS MORNING I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND HELD IN THE PUSH BUTTON AND IT STARTED AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS. I TAKE IT IN TOMORROW TO HAVE THE SWITCH REPLACED. *TR
THE OEM HORN IS NOT EFFECTIVE, I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED BY THE DEALER WHEN IT WAS INTERMITANT BUT T NO ONE CAN HEAR THE NEW ONE. I HAVE BEEN CUT OFF NUMERIOUS TIMES HIT THE HORN AND NO ONE REACTS, IT IS AS IF THEY DON'T KNOW I EXIST. I TESTED IT ON MY FAMILY AND THEY JUST LAUGHED, CALLING IT A BICKCYCLE'S HORN. SOMEONE WILL GET HURT/KILLED. I WOULD THINK THESE THINGS MUST BE AT LEAST A MINIUM OF "X" DECIBLES, IT THIS HORN MEETS STANDARDS THAN THE STANDARD MUST BE CHANGED.THIS IS A SAFTEY HARZARD. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA BACK IN FEBRUARY 2012 FROM ENTERPRISE CAR SALES AND EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT I BEEN HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR WHILE IM DRIVING FROM MAYBE 10MPH TO 40MPH. BUT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I REACH SPEEDS OVER 50MPH I DON'T HEAR ANYTHING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS OF TIMES I HAVE HAD CERTIFIED MECHANICS CHECK IT AND THEY TOLD ME IT COULD BE ONE OF THE MOTOR MOUNTS BUT THE DEALER NEVER WANTED TO CHANGE IT THEY KEPT TELLING ME THE CAR WAS FINE. NOW ITS GOING TO BE A YEAR LATER AND MY CAR HAS THAT SAME KNOCKING SOUND IN THE FRONT BUT NOW ITS EXTREMELY LOUD. I CAN FEEL THE KNOCKING THROUGH THE STEERING TOO SO NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. *TR

THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED, THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD BOTTOMED OUT CAUSED BY DRIVING. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD, GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL AND THAT ALL BRAKES ON NEW VEHICLES WOULD EXHIBIT THE NOISE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,560.

CALLED DEALER AND WAS TOLD "IT IS IN SPEC AND TO CONTACT HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS". THEY WILL NOT FIX. IT IS NOW WORSE THAN BEFORE THEY TRIED TO FIX. AFTER SCRAPING SOME ICE FROM THE WINDSHIELD WITH A STANDARD PLASTIC SCRAPER, THE WINDSHIELD WAS COVERED WITH SCRATCHES. THE SAME SCRAPER WAS USED ON THE OTHER WINDOWS OF THIS CAR, AND ON THE WINDSHIELD OF ANOTHER CAR WITH NO SCRATCHING. TESTED ON ANOTHER DAY WITH A NEW SCRAPER, AND ADDITIONAL SCRATCHES WERE CAUSED. THE RESULT IS REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO THE SCRATCHES, AND AN INABILITY TO PHYSICALLY CLEAR ICE FROM THE WINDSHIELD IN ORDER TO PREVENT ADDITIONAL SCRATCHING. THE FIRST TIME I THOUGHT SOMETHING STRANGE WAS GOING ON WITH MY NEW CAR (PURCHASED WITH 16,000 MILES ON IT) AT THE 18,000 MILE MARK. . THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR AND WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS WITH THE AUTO STICK OR WITH THE PEDALS. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TRIED TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC BUT HAD NO POWER. I PULLED OVER ASAP AND TURNED THE CAR OFF (REBOOTED THE CAR) AND EVERYTHING WORKED AGAIN. ON THE DEC 17TH,2011, (3 WEEKS LATER) I WAS PULLING OUT OF A FRIENDS HOUSE AT 10PM AND EVERYTHING SEEM NORMAL. HOWEVER, AS THE CAR GOT TO ABOUT 15MPH THE TACH RACED OVER TO 5,000 RPMS AND THEN I HEARD A LOUD SLAM AND THE CAR SHOT FORWARD. THE TACH RACED A FEW TIMES, BUT BECAUSE THE CAR STAYED IN 4TH GEAR I MAKE IT HOME SAFELY. WHEN I GOT HOME I DISCOVER THE REVERSE WAS GONE OUT AS WELL. NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS, I RESEARCHED THE ISSUES ONE THIS AND A FEW OTHER SITE AND DISCOVER I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. WHILE AND I NOT HAPPY THAT MY NEW CAR REQUIRED A NEW TRANSMISSION AFTER ONLY 3500 MILES OF ME DRIVING IT AND UNDER 20,000 TOTAL MILES, I AM VERY HAPPY HOW THE DEALER HANDLED THE ENTIRE ISSUE. AFTER HAVING 3 OF 5 RECALL FIXES PERFORMED, BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT AND SOUNDS ACTIVATED. CAR LOST POWER AT LOW REVS. REQUIRED GIVING FULL THROTTLE TO ENABLE GAS ENGINE TO KICK IN AND GAIN ENOUGH SPEED TO SAFELY STAY WITH TRAFFIC. AFTER PULLING OVER AND TURNING ENGINE OFF/ON, PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF. HAPPENED AGAIN IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WHILE ENTERING EXIT RAMP RESULTING IN A DANGEROUS LOSS OF POWER. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. DEALERSHIP ASSURED ME THAT THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND THAT IT WOULD BE REPAIRED. 2 DAYS LATER ISSUE HAPPENED 3 TIMES. EACH TIME ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 65MPH WITH NOWHERE SAFE TO CONVENIENTLY PULL OVER.
I WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE, HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, CAR WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED, TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 8 FEET, THE BRAKE DIDN'T STOP THE CAR. WHEN A REPRESENTATIVE OF MY INSURANCE COMPANY CALLED ME, HE STATED THAT HE HEARD THAT I HAD STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE, THIS IS NOT TRUE, I AM 100 PERCENT SURE. MY HUSBAND WAS A PASSENGER IN THE CAR AND AFTER WE HAD CALMED DONE, WE DISCUSSED WHAT HAD HAPPENED, HE STATED TO ME THAT THE CAR WAS ALMOST STOPPED AND THEN JUST SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD ROARING SOUND AND ACCELERATED. OUR CAR WAS TOWED TO A HYUNDAI REPAIR STATION AND WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR HOW MUCH THE DAMAGES ARE. I USED THE OVERRIDE PROCEDURE SOMEONE ELSE MENTIONED TO GET THE CAR GOING -- DEPRESS AND HOLD THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR 30 SECONDS. EVEN ONCE THE ENGINE STARTED, THE GEAR SHIFT REMAINED STUCK IN PARK AND TOOK AWHILE TO TAKE IT OUT OF THIS POSITION. WHEN I WAS IDLING IN PARK TODAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHICH TOLD ME THE SITUATION WAS GETTING WORSE. *TR

THE VALVE STEMS ON A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT WERE SO CORRODED AND SEIZED IN PLACE THAT IN ORDER TO REMOVE THEM WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO BREAK THE ENTIRE VALVE STEM. SINCE THE VALVE STEM IS ATTACHED TO THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR. *TR
Brake lights have been needed to be replaced multiple times a year, since I purchased the car. Now this past year I have had to replace my break lights more often and noticed the port that holds the light appears to be burnt. So after I noticed the situation, I googled to see if there were any recalls and there have been, but my dealership advised me that my car had no recall for the break lights but had other recalls (which nothing was ever sent to me stating any recalls). Also be advised approximately every 5 hyundai sonata has a break light out. I am EXTREMELY upset that there has not been a recall for the break lights and also upset that the dealer charged $115.00 for two break light bulbs and “labor”) and why was I not aware of recalls on my vehicle until I went into the dealership with a problem.
WHILE WALKING UP TO MY WIFE'S 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA IN A PARKING LOT, WE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS DISLODGED FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR. THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE STILL ATTACHED TO THE TAIL LIGHT, BUT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE BACK OF THE CAR OR THE TAIL LIGHT ITSELF. HOWEVER, WE DID SEE THE FOUR BOLT HOLDERS THAT ATTACH THE TAIL LIGHT TO THE BODY OF THE CAR HAD RUPTURED AND BROKE APART. WITHIN AN HOUR WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A DEFECT LIKE THIS. THEY INSISTED THAT THIS MUST HAVE BEEN DUE TO AN IMPACT, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE TO THE TAIL LIGHT, THE BACK OF THE CAR OR ANY SIGNS OF VANDALISM. SINCE THEY FELT IT WAS DUE TO AN IMPACT (NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY), WE HAD TO PAY NEARLY $300 FOR THE TAIL LIGHT TO BE REPLACED. LATER THAT DAY, I NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS BECOMING LOOSE TO THE TOUCH AS WELL. THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE CALLED THE CORPORATE LINE FOR HYUNDAI TO REPORT THIS TAIL LIGHT DEFECT AND REPORT THE DEALERSHIP WE WENT TO AS WELL. WITHIN 2 DAYS THE DEALERSHIP CALLED US BACK AND SAID THIS IS DEFINITELY SOME KIND OF DEFECT AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY OUR WARRANTY. THEY REFUNDED OUR MONEY AND ALSO REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT AT NO CHARGE. EVERY SONATA SHOULD HAVE THEIR TAIL LIGHTS CHECKED AND RECALLED (AT NO CHARGE) IF THESE DEFECTIVE BOLT HOLDERS CONTINUE TO BE FOUND AS BRITTLE AND FLIMSY AS OURS WERE. THANKFULLY THE TAIL LIGHT DID NOT FALL OFF OUR CAR WHILE WE WERE DRIVING OR IT WOULD HAVE BECOME A SERIOUS ROAD HAZARD. PLEASE BRING THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF ALL SONATA OWNERS IMMEDIATELY. *TR

ALL TIRE PRESSURES WERE WITHIN THE NORMAL RANGE. AFTER A FEW MILES THE WARNING LIGHT RESET. 6 HOURS LATER THE SAME MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. AGAIN, CHECKED TIRE PRESSURES AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAVE COMMUNICATED ALL OCCURRENCES TO THE MANUFACTURER WITH NO RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM. *KB
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A CLUNK. THE NEXT DAY I NOTICED THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD FALLEN OUT. IT WAS STILL HELD ON BY IT'S WIRES. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR OF MY CAR OR TO THE LENS OF THE ASSEMBLY. THE INTERIOR RETAINING NUTS HAD ALL BEEN BROKE. HYUNDAI WILL NOT GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS HOW THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
THE CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE TIRES AND IN 23,000 MILES THEY HAD CUPPED. THE DEALER TOLD ME I HAD FAILED TO KEEP THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF AIR IN THE TIRES AND DID NOT KEEP IT ALIGNED. I PURCHASED A NEW SET OF TIRES AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO THE PLACE I PURCHASED THE TIRES FROM AND THEY TOLD ME MAYBE THE CAR IS OUT OF LINE AND LINED IT UP. WELL SINCE THEN THE TIRES HAVE ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. THIS IS 2 SETS OF TIRES IN LESS THAN 60,000 MILES. THE REPLACEMENT TIRES COST ME $600.00. I DO NOT LIKE BEING TOLD IT IS MY FAULT WHEN I HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED EVERY 5000 MILES. I WENT ON LINE TO SEE IF I WAS THE ONLY ONE AND LEARNED THERE WERE OTHERS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
