EVERY TIME I GO TO START MY CAR IT GIVES ME A WARNING TO CHECK BRAKES. I READ ONLINE THAT MANY HYUNDAI OWNERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS WARNING KEEPS THE ENGINE FROM STARTING. ALONG WITH THIS, THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE STEERING COLUMN AND SUSPENSION.
AFTER FILLING MY CAR UP WITH FUEL I WILL SMELL GAS VERY STRONG INSIDE THE CAR. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. SO, I NO LONGER FILL UP THE GAS TANK. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME WHAT IT WAS AND NOT TO FILL THE TANK. CAR WAS IN PARK AT THE GAS STATION NOT MOVING.
FREEWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS EITHER CENTER OR WHEN TURNING IT WILL STAY STUCK CAUSING THE CAR TO SWERVE WHEN PULLED . FORCE HAS TO BE USED TO UNSTICK THE STEERING WHEEL IT FEELS LIKE A MAGNET IS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT SHOULD NOT FEEL LIKE THAT. IT'S HAPPENED PLENTY TIMES STARTING ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WHEN I GOT THE CAR AND IT GRADUALLY GOT WORSE. I BOUGHT A CAR EARLY MAY THE DEALER CALLED BACK AND TOLD ME I HAD TO RETURN IT FOR A DIFFERENT CAR DUE TO MY 'INCOME AND CREDIT' WHICH THEY WERE AWARE ABOUT WHEN I GOT THE CAR BUT THE DEALER GAVE FALSE INFO TO THE BANK WHICH CAUSED ME ISSUES. AND THIS SONATA 2013 WAS THE ONLY CAR THEY SAID THEY COULD GIVE ME .
MY VEHICLE HAS JUST GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE SOME DAYS IT'LL START RIGHT UP AND THEN THE NEXT DAY IT WON'T DO ANYTHING UPON HITTING THE THE PUSH TO START, OTHER THAN GIVING OFF A CLICK FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, BUT I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE A WIRING PROBLEM BECAUSE MY FIRST GUESS WAS THE PROBLEM BUT I HAD ALL THAT TESTED AND IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. I CAN DRIVE IT TO WORK THAT MORNING BUT ONCE I GET READY TO CLOCK OUT THE EVENING IT WON'T START.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND SEIZED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPSTARTED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
0 WARNING CODES AND SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.
ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE CAR ARE CONTINUOUSLY HAVING TO BE REPLACED. DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE ASSEMBLY. BULB WILL NO LONGER FIT OR CANNOT BE MOUNTED BECAUSE OF THE MELTED ASSEMBLY. BRAKE LIGHT EVEN THOUGH ITS BEEN CHANGED WORKS SPORADICALLY. THIS CAUSES MORE THAN ONE SAFETY ISSUE. CAR HAS NO BRAKE LIGHT ON ONE SIDE AND COULD AT ANYTIME CATCH ON FIRE. DEALERSHIP HAS SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM AMONG THESE VEHICLES BUT HYUNDAI IS NOT YET ADDRESSING. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IF NOT DEATH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SHIFTED ROUGHLY. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO YOUNG HYUNDAI 3333 WALL AVE, OGDEN, UT 84401801) 821-2737 WHERE DIAGNOSED THE WIRING HARNESS AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,510.
THERE HAS BEEN A ENGINE KNOCKING SOUND SLOWLY BUILDING UP AND MY OIL WAS STILL 2K MILES GOOD. AFTER WORK SATURDAY EVENING AS I WAS DRIVING HOME IT WAS KNOCKING HARD THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I GOT CODE CHECKED AND THE CODE WAS ' P1326' I NEED UP CHANGING MY OIL TO SEE IT ANYTHING WOULD HELP AND IT DID NOT. MY CAR WON'T GO PAST 2K RPMS DUE TO 'LIMP MODE' ASKED MY MECHANIC FRIEND ABOUT HELP AND HE CAME OVER AND LOOKED AT IT. TOLD ME HE'S HAD CUSTOMERS WITH SAME PROBLEMS AND THERE IS A CAMPAIGN RECALL 953 PER TSB 18-01- 027 AND THEY GOT IT FIXED.
RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED 12-13-2019. NO FIX LISTED. WHAT IS A REASONABLE TIME FRAME FOR REPAIRS ON A PROBLEM THAT CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE? IT HAS NOT CAUGHT FIRE YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE CAME FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO A MALL PARKING LOT AND LATER MANAGED TO DRIVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO KEY HYUNDAI OF MILFORD (566 BRIDGEPORT AVE, MILFORD, CT 06460, (203) 877-6820). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER ON AUGUST 8, 2018 TO BE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. AT THAT TIME, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE PASSED THE TEST; THEREFORE, THE ENGINE DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE RECALL INCLUDED A WARRANTY EXTENSION UP TO 120,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.*DT THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS ALSO REPLACED. *TR
UNLOCKED DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE
THE STEERING COLUMN STARTED MAKING A CLUNKING OR BUMPING NOISE WHEN MOVING IT AT A SLOW SPEED. THE STEERING ALSO SEEMED A BIT LOOSE. I TOOK IT TO A SERVICE STATION AND WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS "TIGHT" AND THAT IT'S PROBABLY NOTHING SERIOUS. HOWEVER, I'VE READ REPORTS ABOUT OTHERS HAVING SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AND BEING TOLD IT COULD BE A FAILING STEERING COUPLER THAT COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL. I'M TRYING TO ASCERTAIN IF THIS IS SOMETHING I SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT.
CLICKING OR KNOCKING WHEN WHEEL IS TURNED IN EACH DIRECTION
ENGINE LOCKED UP. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR WENT DEAD. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND GOT IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT THE ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THIS IS COMMON IN THIS VEHICLE. COULD YOU PLEASE POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION OF WHAT I NEED TO DO?
TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WITH AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION. THE CONTACT STATED MULTIPLE UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED DRIVING TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEACON JONES HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 304 N OAK FOREST RD, GOLDSBORO, NC 27534, (919) 587-0500, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KNOCK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TAIL LIGHTS AND HEAD LIGHTS MELTED. REPLACED THE BULBS MULTIPLE TIMES AND BURNT OUT/MELTED. THE MOST RECENT TIME I TOOK MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA IN TO GET SERVICED I WAS TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE ALL OF THE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES SINCE THEY ALL MELTED AND THAT WAS THE ONLY FIX. THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE WIRING/ELECTRIC BUT IT SEEMS ODD FOR ALL OF THE LIGHTS TO MELT EVEN AFTER BEING REPLACED FROM AFTER MELTING IN THE PAST. THEY TOLD ME AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SONATA BUT THERE WAS NO RECALLS OUT FOR IT SO THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO IS REPLACE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES AGAIN.
PRIOR TO THIS ALL STARTING THE ESC DASH LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. NOT SURE IF IT WAS RELATED BUT THE ACCELERATION ISSUES STARTED THE SAME DAY. WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL AT TIMES THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. IMMEDIATELY LEAVING OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL AND PUSHING AGAIN IT WILL THEN ACCELERATE. IT APPEARS COMPLETELY RANDOM AND HAPPENS SPORADICALLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. HAPPENED 9 TIMES WITHIN 3 DAYS. 4 TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST 30 MINUTES OF A TRIP AND THEN NOT AGAIN FOR 5 HOURS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL STOPPER REPLACED WHICH IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY 2 DAYS AGO AND IT JUST HAPPENED TWICE AGAIN. I ALSO COULDN'T SET THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE GOING UP A HILL. I SET IT, LEFT MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND IT IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED. THE CRUISE THEN WORKED ON A LEVEL SURFACE. AFTER A GOOGLE SEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH 2011-2013 SONATAS AND CAN BE A VERY SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. MY HUSBAND WHO IS A TRUCK DRIVER AND GAS DRIVEN OVER 1 MILLION MILES HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF A CAR. NOT SURE EXACT SPEED AT TIME OF INCIDENTS BUT BETWEEN 30-60MPH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE SLID INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,037.
2013 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID I HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN REGARDS TO MY CAR SHUTTING DOWN ON ME. IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING IT WILL START BEEPING LOUD AND WHILE LOSING POWER THE PANEL REEDS PULL OVER SAFELY AND SHUT ENGINE OFF. THE SECOND TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER HE SAID DON'T ALLOW THE GAS TO GET TWO 1/4 OF A TANK. SO I HAD KEPT IT AT HALF A TANK AND YET AGAIN IT LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT DOWN ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. TOTALLY NOT SAFE! TAKE IT BACK TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY AND EVERYTHING LOOKS OKAY. I WAS SENT HOME AGAIN! THEN ONE MORNING MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I READ A FORUM THAT SAID JIGGLE THE SHIFT AROUND OR PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THEN BACK UP TO PARK AND THEN PRESS THE BUTTON FOR IT TO START. IT LITERALLY WORKED AND I TOOK A VIDEO OF ME DOING THOSE STEPS. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO HYUNDAI DEALER SHOW THEM THE VIDEO. I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT THE FORUM SAID TO REPLACE THE INHIBITOR SWITCH. THE MECHANIC AGREED BUT YET PUZZLED ABOUT THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN ON ME. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY FRIDAY FEB 28, 2020 AND I CALLED TODAY THEY SAID MAY BE LOOKED AT ON MONDAY. SO MY CAR IS YET AT THE DEALER UNTIL THE ENGINEERS ARE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT. I'M TIRED OF GETTING MY CAR BACK AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUES OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MY CAR HAS AROUND 87,000 MILES AND YET UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 100,000 MILES. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE DANGEROUS ISSUES. I CALLED A FEW TIMES TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR BUT NO RECALL. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR IN NOVEMBER OF 2019 AND THE ISSUE STARTED A WEEK LATER THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. IT IS NOW FEBRUARY 2020 AND I'M YET DEALING WITH THESE ISSUES. I'M TOTALLY AT WIT'S END. IT WON'T LET ME UPLOAD THE VIDEO BUT HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ROD FAILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE SENSOR WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AT POHANKA HYUNDAI (1770 RITCHIE STATION CT, CAPITAL HEIGHTS, MD 20743, (301) 899-0480). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
THE CAR IS STRUGGLING TO SHIFT GEARS FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD. SO IF I DON'T COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR STALLS AND SLOWS DOWN WHILE IN MOTION DUE TO THE STRUGGLE OF CHANGING GEARS.
THE STEERING HAS BECOME VERY JERKY. THEY HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN ONCE AT 50000 MILES BUT HAVE REFUSED TO REPLACE IT NOW STATING THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY CAR HAS 96000 MILES AT PRESENT. WE FEEL THIS PROBLEM COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN IT GOT BAD BUT DOES IT ALL THE TIME WHEN DRIVING HYUNDAI STARTED A CASE # 16436714 ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THEY WOULD NOT WANT TO FIX AN ISSUE LIKE THIS
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT IN NOT BUCKLING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED BOTH REAR TAIL LIGHTS AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WERE EXPERIENCING BULBS BURNING WHICH CAUSED MELTING OF WIRING INTO THE SOCKETS OF THE VEHICLE. THE BULBS WERE ORIGINAL PARTS. THE CONTACTED STATED THE FAILURE FIRST OCCURRED WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TAILLIGHT BURNED OUT, SHORTLY AFTER THE PASSENGER REAR TAILLIGHT AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT REPAIRED AND REPLACED BOTH REAR HEAD LIGHTS AND BULBS HIMSELF BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TAILLIGHT BULBS EVERY 2 OR 3 MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2016. ONE OF MY LIGHTS IS OUT AGAIN. I COULD NOT FIND A RECALL ON IT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER HYUNDAI SONATA OWNERS AND THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE HOUSING IS MELTING AS WELL, MAKING IT MOST DIFFICULT TO REMOVE THE BULBS. NOT HAVING BRAKE LIGHTS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAZARD. THE COST SHOULD NOT BE ON THE OWNER AS THIS HAS BECOME A MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE VEHICLE PROBLEM. I CANNOT GO THROUGH INSPECTION WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS AND CAN GET TICKETS WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND RELIEF.

THE LOW ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT FAILED TO DISPLAY A MESSAGE TO INDICATE THAT ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS CLOSELY MONITORED TO PREVENT ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TULSA HYUNDAI (9777 S MEMORIAL DR, TULSA, OK 74133) AND THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000. *JS
TRANSMISSION HEAT SENSOR FAILURE, CAUSING CAR TO HAVE PROPULSION ISSUES IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS A COMPLAINT BY SEVERAL OWNERS FROM 2011 THROUGH 2014.
THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND/OR AT A STOP. ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, ON THE STREETS, WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, AND PARTIALLY ON A TRAIN TRACK. THE ATTACHED PICTURE IS JUST OF ONE OF MOMENTS I CAPTURED ON VIDEO WHEN THE ENGINE DIED.
HYUNDAI IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES MELTING. I AM ABOUT TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I AM CONCERNED THAT ME OR MY KIDS ARE GOING TO BE KILLED DUE TO THIS. THESE BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED HUNDREDS OF TIMES. THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON USING BULBS THAT ARE NOT PURCHASED FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT IS RIDICULOUS.

I REPLACED IT THREE TIMES( NOVEMBER 2019, TWICE IN JUNE 2020) SINCE MY PURCHASE. THE MOST RECENT REPLACEMENT IT BLEW OUT THE SAME DAY. I SEEN THERE ARE REVIEWS AND VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET STATING THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH 2013 SONATAS. THIS IS A ROAD HAZARD AND ILLEGAL OPERATION OF A VEHICLE IF PULLED OVER BY LAW ENFORCEMENT WHEN WILL A RECALL BE ISSUED AND RESOLVED? TO ADD TO THE BULB /ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I have reported issues to local Hyundai and they refuse to look and correct recalls do to mileage. I need recalls repaired immediately.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 53,000.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET A LOANER VEHICLE AFTER MUCH HASSLING. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR WEEKS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
AFTER PARKING CAR AND TURNING THE CAR OFF, KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE, KEY STUCK IN IGNITION, KEY WORKS FINE, CAR DRIVE FINE, HOWEVER UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. ( KEY WILL NOT TURN PASS ACCESSORY. CAR SHIFTS GEARS, STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT LOCK, KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED. I HAD TO UN PLUG THE FUSE TO RADIO/ ASSESSORIES TO REMOVE/RELEASE KEY.
THE HYUNDAI SONATA HAS A KNOWN STEERING ISSUE. THERE IS A LOOSE CLICKING SOUND WHEN STEERING. IT APPARENTLY IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY RUBBER COUPLING IN THE POWER STEERING MECHANISM. (PART # 57315 2K000FFF 'FLEXIBLE COUPLING'). THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL TO REPLACE THIS PART WITH AN IMPROVED VERSION.

I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE HYUNDIA DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL FOR HEAVY OIL CONSUMPTION; THEY TOLD ME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT BECAUSE IT WAS CLOGGED, I TOLD THEM IF IT WAS CLOGGED IT WAS DUE TO THE OIL LOSS THAT MADE IT WAY INTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE HYUNDIA CORPORATION REFUSED TO FIX THE ENGINE OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

IT HAS AROUND 124,000.SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS IS A OCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH ONES ARE RECALLED. SO WHAT'S A PERSON SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN IT'S YOUR ONLY TRANSPORTATION AND YOUR ON A FIXED INCOME.

THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40 MPH AND FASTER DOESN'T RECENTER AND FEELS LIKE IT LOCKS OR STICKS BECAUSE THE DRIVER HAS TO FORCIBLY RECENTER THE WHEEL. THE CAR HAS 97,699 MILES. 2 MONTHS AGO JIM CLICK HYUNDAI REPLACED POWER STEERING MOTOR ASSEMBLY $910.00 OUT OF POCKET COSTS. THE REPAIR DID NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. RETURNED TO SAME DEALERSHIP ON 12/9/19 SERVICE ADVISOR DID AN ALIGNMENT. THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS.
WHILE DRIVING OUT OF TOWN 2 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME ON MAJOR HIGHWAY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. HAD MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE BACK AND HAD TO GET IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND TURN MY HAZARDS ON AND CALL A TOWN TRUCK. I HAD TO PAY 300 DOLLARS TO GET THE CAR TOWED HOME. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE I SAW A ENGINE RECALL AND SEVERAL OTHER RECALLS FOR THE 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. I CALLED THE HYUNDAI RECALL LINE AND THEY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED OUT. I CALLED HYUNDAI AND ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY TOW SERVICES THAT THEY PROVIDED, THEY STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR TOW SERVICES SO I THEN PAYED 60 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO HYUNDAI BY AAA WHICH HYUNDAI ADVICES. HYUNDAI CALLED AND INFORMED ME THE NEXT DAY THAT THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE AND THAT IT WAS THE ENGINE THAT FAILED AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER AN ENGINE FROM HYUNDAI THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED 150 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO GET THE KEY FOB TO WORK TO THE CAR. AFTER HYUNDAI RECEIVED THE NEW ENGINE THEY CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO PULL THE ENGINE IN AND OUT OF THE CAR DUE TO FROM END DAMAGE WHICH INCLUDED THE RADIATOR, MOTOR BLOWER, AND HEAD GASKET AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE TO PAY 2895 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO EVEN PUT THE ENGINE IN THE CAR. HE ASKED ME IF THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HAD REPORTED ANY WRECKS WHERE THE FRONT END COULD BE DAMAGED. I THEN EXPLAINED TO THE MANAGER OF HYUNDAI MECHANICS THAT I HAVE A CLEAR BLUE TITLE AND IN ORDER FOR THERE TO BE A WRECK THAT CAUSED FRONT END DAMAGE I WOULD BY LAW HAVE TO HAVE A SAVAGE TITLE.I WAS SOLD THE CAR AS IS FROM CAR LOT BUT WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NO ACCIDENT AND HAD BEEN CERTIFIED TESTED. LOOKING ONLINE AND SPEAKING WITH ANOTHER MECHANIC I WAS INFORMED THAT RADIATOR MOTOR BLOWER AND HEAD GASKET ARE ARE CAUSES DUE TO AN CAR RUNNING HOT FROM ENGINE FAILURE.SPEAKING WITH CORPORATE THEY MADE FALSE PROMISES AND THEN DECLINED.
