DRIVE SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE BULB IS REPLACED. I'VE BEEN STOPPED BY OTHER MOTORISTS AND POLICE OFFICERS ADVISING THAT MY LIGHT IS OUT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE APPARENTLY SINCE I'VE GOTTEN THE VEHICLE AND HYUNDAI NEEDS TO CORRECT IT. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO FEAR FOR MY SAFETY
GOT AN OIL CHANGE @ VALVOLINE IN LEXINGTON,KY ON APRIL 22, 2019. 3 WEEKS LATER MY ENGINE SEIZED UP DUE TO NOT HAVING A DROP OIL ON MAY 15 TH.
BACK UP CAMERA FLICKERS AND GOES TO A BLUE SCREEN
ONLY 50,000 MILES AND DASH CRACKED IN 2 SECTIONS AND DEALER SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED IN WARRANTY. NO HELP FROM HYUNDAI
CLICKING NOISE WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. RATTLES AND VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING. CONTROL WHILE DRIVING SEEMS LOOSE. 72,000 MILES, SECONDARY OWNER - NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.
STEERING WHEEL STICKS AT TOP DEAD CENTER AND STICKS AT VARIOUS POSITIONS WHEN ON A SLOW CURVE AT 45 MPH OR MORE. SOMETIMES AT SLOWER SPEEDS. THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT IN ONLINE DISCUSSIONS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS YOU OVERCORRECT WHEN IT STICKS AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE STEERING COUPLER HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED AND IS NOT THE PROBLEM. DANGEROUS ISSUE!
SUN SHADE FAILURE ON PANORAMIC ROOF. I WAS DRIVING AND DECIDED TO OPEN THE SUNROOF, I HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE. THE SHADE CAME OFF TRACK AND WOULD NOT ROLL UP. SUNROOF OPENED UP LIKE NORMAL, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED NOT VERY SAFE WITH THE EXCESS HANGING MATERIAL BLOCKING VISIBILITY. $900+ REPAIR AT THE DEALER.
I WAS DRIVING AND AS I WAS MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. AS I WAS TRYING TO TURN OUT OF THE TURN, THE WHEEL UNSEIZED AND TURNED THE WAY I WAS TRYING TO TURN IT, BUT THEN WENT SLACK WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO START DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT EVEN THOUGH I WAS TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN OUT. THEN I FELT THE STEERING CATCH AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR AS NORMAL. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER NEXT WEEK SO THEY CAN CHECK IT OUT. THIS SHOULD REALLY BE A RECALL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
My car has been having issues for the last 3 years and dealership replaced the water pump 2 years ago. Went back to the dealership for engine issues like hesitation and stalling several times and they said they can’t find an issue, they adjust the brake light switch one time as they said they had the code for it, but the car still has the hesitation and stalling issue which they wanted to charge me again for a diagnosis. I looked up online and there are actually recalls for the engine connecting Rod and probably these recalls were cleared by the dealership from my previous visits but I can assure that the engine was not replaced nor the fuel system was not inspected at that time.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2013 SONATA HAS BEEN MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR UP TO SAVANNAH HYUNDAI ON ABERCORN SEVERAL TIMES. THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. NOW FOR THE LAST TWO HAVE BEEN PUTTING OIL IN MY CAR EVERY TWO DAYS. IT'S OIL LEEK AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG
WHILE DRIVING I HIT A POT HOLE AND MY SUN ROOF GLASS BROKE
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP AND IT'S A WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE AND AT TIME OF PURCHASE THEY TOLD ME THE FUEL PIPE HAD A RECALL AND THAT I COULD GET IT FIXED FOR FREE AT A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP.
THE RECALL FOR HYUNDAI, CAMPAIGN953 WAS TO INSTALL ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR ALL SONATA VEHICLES FROM 2011-2018 WITH A 2.4L GDI. I HAD THE ENGINE RECALL SOFTWARE UPDATE DONE ON 3/26/19. THIS WAS INTENDED AS A WARNING SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF ENGINE FAILURE. ON 4/15/19, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN LOS ANGELES, MY ENGINE SEIZED UP, AND PUT MY LIFE AT RISK. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE DID NOT WORK, AND THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL. IF I HAD NOT BEEN IN THE RIGHT LANE, AND ABLE TO STEER OVER INTO A VERY NARROW SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC'S LOT NEAR ME, SINCE IT WAS A SUNDAY EVENING, AND HYUNDAI WAS NOT OPEN. THE NEXT DAY, MY MECHANIC DID START THE CAR, AND SAID IT SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE IT THE SHORT DISTANCE TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER, LESS THAN 2 MILES AWAY, SINCE IT WAS A WARRANTY SITUATION. I GOT ONE BLOCK, AND THE ENGINE SEIZED UP AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED THE 2 MILES TO THE DEALER. THEY DISCOVERED THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHICH TOOK ALMOST 4 WEEKS. NO EXPLANATION OF THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FAILURE. SINCE GETTING THE CAR BACK ON MAY 7,2019- I HAVE HAD TOTAL ANXIETY, AND FEAR THE SAME ISSUE COULD HAPPEN. I HAD A SEVERE PANIC ATTACK ON THE FREEWAY ON MAY 10, THAT WAS TERRIFYING, AND A FRIEND HAD TO STAY ON THE PHONE WITH ME UNTIL I GOT TO WORK. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI CORP. LEGAL DEPT. THROUGH AN ATTORNEY, AND THERE HAS BEEN NO SATISFACTION IN COMPENSATION OR CONSIDERATION FOR THE FACT THAT DUE TO THEIR FAULTY ENGINE, AND RECALL SOFTWARE FAILURE, THEY PUT MY LIFE AT RISK! THE CUSTOMER CARE DEPT. IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED WITH ANY COMPANY, AND I AM NOW AT EXTREME FINANCIAL LOSS. THE RE-SALE VALUE HAS PLUMMETED, AND I NOW HAVE FINANCIAL STRESS BEING FORCED TO GET ANOTHER CAR I FEEL SAFE IN. I HAVE LOST TOTAL CONFIDENCE IN HYUNDAI. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE THAT IS NOT BEING RESOLVED! HELP!
PROBLEM WITH MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2013 GLS TAILLIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT TURNING OFF. THE CAR IS OFF, KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, LIGHTS SWITCHED OFF AND FOOT NOT ON THE BRAKE AND LIGHTS ARE REMAINING ON. THEY STAY ON THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AND DAY. THE WORST TIME IS WHILE DRIVING , THEY REMAIN ON AS IF I'M DRIVING WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I AM LEFT TO FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN AS THERE IS NO RECALLS AND I REFUSE TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD CLEARLY BE A RECALL. WITH HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REPORTING THIS ISSUE WITH SONATAS FROM MODULES DATING BACK THAT I CAN TELL FROM 2007 TO CURRENT. I REFUSE TO GET THIS CAR AGAI AND AS SOON AS I CAN SALE IT CONSIDER IT SOLD!

PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS NOT INFORMED THAT IT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V137000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS) AND SERVICE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 953 (ECM & CLUSTER UPDATE-ENGINE MONITORING LOGIC PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT). SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE. AUFFENBERG HYUNDAI (1300 CENTRAL PARK DR, O'FALLON, IL 62269, (618) 622-9001) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS TO FOLLOW-UP WITH A RESPONSE WITHIN 48 HOURS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT WAS LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND WAS WAITING FOR THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS AN OPTION OF A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS TO PROVIDE A FOLLOW-UP RESPONSE TO THE DEALER AND THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHENEVER I DRIVE OVER ANY SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. I TOOK THE CAR TO GET REPAIRED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THIS WAS AFTER A WHEEL ALIGNMENT, WHEEL BALANCE, AND LOOSE TIE ROD WAS REPAIRED. MY CHIEF COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS REPAIR WAS UNDER THE 100,000 MILES WARRANTY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND SINCE I'M A SECONDARY OWNER, I'M NO LONGER UNDER THE WARRANTY. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TYPE OF MECHANICAL ISSUE SHOULD OCCUR ON A VEHICLE THAT'S ONLY 5-6 YEARS OLD.
CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 30-40MPH. WAS ABLE TO RESTART CAR BUT ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE. CAR ENGINE WAS ABLE TO START ONCE MORE AND ALLOWED ME TO TRAVEL TO MY DESTINATION. LATER IN THE DAY, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN AT AROUND 30-40MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN A 2 LANE EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD AND DID NOT RESTART UNTIL A TOW TRUCK WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR SOMEHOW. DROVE THE CAR TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD COMPLETELY SEIZED AND DOES NOT START. DURING THE WHOLE ORDEAL NO CHECK ENGINE OR OTHER WARNING LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. EACH TIME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF THERE WAS NO WARNING EXCEPT THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. EACH TIME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND HAD A HIGH POTENTIAL OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE BLOWING OUT EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. I ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THEM AS SOON AS I'M NOTIFIED BY POLICE OR A BYSTANDER. I WAS TOLD THAT BOTH OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OUT 4/8/2019 WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN STREET. I WENT TO INSPECT AND BOTH BULBS WERE COMPLETELY FRIED WITH A JELLY SUBSTANCE ON THERE. I ALSO TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE A WIRE ISSUE AND NEED TO TAKE THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS PRETTY DANGEROUS, THE POLICE INFORMED THAT HE HAS PULLED OVER A LOT OF MAKE MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE ABOUT THEIR BRAKE LIGHTS.
PURCHASED A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA AROUND APRIL OF 2019. NOTICED A SLIGHT CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE. TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN CHAMBERSBURG PA. THEY TOOK CARE OF 2 OPEN RECALLS. THEN THEY ASKED IF WE WANTED TO FIX THE CLUNKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL & SAID THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS FOR IT YET. THE NOISE HAS CHANGED TO A LOUDER MORE CONSTANT NOISE AT ALL SPEEDS AND ROAD CONDITIONS THAT IS REALLY ANNOYING & MAKES US FEAR THAT THERE IS A MORE EXTENSIVE PROBLEM. FOUND OUT THAT THE 2011 MODELS HAD A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM & ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR VEHICLE. WE DRIVE A LOT ON INTERSTATES & DO NOT WANT TO RISK A LOSS OF STEERING. WE HAVE GRANDCHILDREN THAT ARE BABIES! PLEASE HELP!
THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A VERY LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHENEVER YOU GO OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. MUST OF THE TIME IT HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS. IT FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE OR WILL COME LOOSE. THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
AN ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS ADDED TO MY SONATA TO PREVENT NON-COLLISION ENGINE FIRES. THE SOFTWARE WAS NECESSARY AFTER A MANUFACTURING DEFECT REQUIRED A RECALL FOR INSPECTION THAT HYUNDAI ADMITTED WERE NOT ALL DONE CORRECTLY. IF THE RIGHT CONDITIONS ARE DETECTED, THE ENGINE COMPUTER WILL FORCE THE ENGINE INTO A LOW OUTPUT CONDITION FOR A LIMITED TIME SO I CAN "LIMP THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS". SO KNOWING MY CAR MAY SHUT DOWN ON ME, I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE EXCEPT AROUND TOWN. I CANNOT TAKE THE CHANCE ON DRIVING THE CAR TO ON VACATION OR TO VISIT FAMILY 3 STATES AWAY KNOWING I MAY NOT GET THERE OR MAY NOT GET HOME. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO FIX THE AFFECTED VEHICLES INSTEAD OF HIDING THE DEFECTS BEHIND A "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN".
I MADE APPOINTMENT FOR MY RECALLS BUT AT THE APPOINTMENT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T DO NOTHING BUT SWITCH MY OIL STICK AND LIE ABOUT FIXING THE RECALLS I CALLED HYUNDAI COMPLIANT DEPARTMENT STILL NOTHING DONE BUT I HAVE PICS OF OLD OIL LIGHT STILL ON AIRBAG I JUST WANTED MY RECALLS DONE INSTEAD OF A LIE I ALSO CONTACTED BBB FOR ASSISTANCE BUT STILL NO HELP.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. SMALL PLASTIC STEERING COUPLER HAS FALLEN APART INSIDE AND NEEDS REPLACING. DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENS WITH STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE PART IS 6 DOLLARS BUT THE LABOR TO REPLACE IS NEARLY 400 DOLLARS
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WITH THE SLIGHTEST TURN OR MOVE OF THE WHEEL, VIBRATES AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN GOING OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMP. SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE WITH THE STEERING COMPONENT. FEELS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO FALL OFF. STEERING WHEEL FEELS LOOSE. STARTED AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES. CONCERNED IT IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD....DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE AS I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING.
FOR A WHILE THE WHEELS ON THE CAR HAVE BEEN MAKING A JUGGLING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER ANY TYPE OF ROAD THAT ISN'T COMPLETELY FLAT. AFTER TAKING IT TO TWO AUTO SHOPS AND ASKING THEM TO TEST DRIVE THEY SAID IT WAS THE COUPLER IN THE STEERING. UPON THAT THERE WAS RESEARCH DONE AND FOUND QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE CAR COULD LOOSE CONTROL AT ANY TIME.
THERE ARE TEXT MESSAGES ON MY RADIO SCREEN AND EXTREMELY LOUD POPPING FROM THE ANTENNA AND IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS STARTLING AND DISTRACTING AND I HAVE ALMOST PLOWED INTO OTHER VEHICLES WHEN IT OCCURS BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE A GUNSHOT. THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT REAR ENDED IN 2018 SO I DON'T DISCOUNT THERE ISN'T AN UNDERLYING ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I PAID FOR A NEW ANTENNA AND THE PROBLEM STILL PRESENT. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THE ISSUE CANNOT BE RESOLVED AND THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN SALVAGED POST ACCIDENT DUE TO THE LENGTHY PROCESS OF TRYING TO DETECT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE INSURER HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM. I'M ASKING NOW, FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO ASSIST. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
MULTIPLE FOG LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE REPEATEDLY HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND OTHER LIGHTS SUCH AS ON THE MIRRORS, NOT AS CRITICAL AS THE FIRST ONES MENTIONED ALSO THE SCREEN THAT HAS TIME DATE, ABILITY TO TALK WITHOUT HOLDING PHONE, RADIO, NAVIGATIONS ETS GOES OUT APPROXIMATELY EVERY TWO DAYS FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND COMES BACK LATER. LAST WEEK WAS FOURTH RIGHT HEADLIGHT IN FOUR MONTHS. WORK PERFORMED FOR ME AT AUTO ZONE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON SAID I NEEDED TO REPORT SINCE IT HAS BEEN SO FREQUENTLY
TRAVELING ON I95 IN MARYLAND, GOING APPROXIMATELY 75MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY DIED ON ME. HAD NO POWER AT ALL. PRIOR TO DYING, THERE WAS A LOUD CLICKING LIKE SOUND. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT REAR ENDED BY A CAR FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE LEFT SHOULDER. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, I STARTED THE CAR UP... CAR WAS RATTLING, BEFORE DYING AGAIN. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR CHECKED MY OIL AND NOTICED METAL SHAVINGS.
WAS DRIVING ON TURNPIKE AT 70 MPH. THE CAR LOST POWER AND ENGINE SHUT OFF. WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED SMOKE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND IT CAUGHT FIRE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, WHEN NOTICE I PULL THE FUSE WHEN PARK, WENT FOR SERVICE THE NEXT DAY. RECALL ITEM WAS THE PROBLEM, REPLACE BRAKE PEDAL RUBBER STOPPER, OTHER ITEMS WERE DONE. WORK WAS COMPLETED, PAID AND DROVE OFF. FOUR WEEKS LATER MY FRIEND SAID MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. I WENT BACK FOR SERVICE, GUESS WHAT, I WAS TOLD TO FIX PROBLEM MY WHOLE LIGHT HOUSING HAD TO BE REPLACE. I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN LIGHTS WERE ON, THE HOUSING AND HARNESS MELTED, THE RUBBER STOPPER COST ME 635 DOLLARS. THE SECOND TIME WHEN I ASK ABOUT THE WARRANTY, IT WAS OUT. NO BUDDY KNEW WHAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM, HUS, WAS THE WORD.

AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION, THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED TO THE CONTACT. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE HESITANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REED HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 7050 W FRONTAGE RD, MERRIAM, KS 66203, (913) 642-9600) TO HAVE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PERFORMED. AFTER 1,000 MILES OF DRIVING, THE ENGINE CONSUMED A QUART OF OIL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE RECEIVED NO FURTHER TESTS AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 68 MILES PER HOUR. THE ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENED SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE DOWN THE INTERSTATE. AT THE MOMENT THE ENGINE FAILURE OCCURRED THERE WAS VARIOUS DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON MY CAR THAT ILLUMINATED - INCLUDING THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP. I MANEUVERED THE CAR TO THE OFF-RAMP AND THEN PARKED ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THE ENGINE WAS VISIBLY VIBRATING AND SHAKING AT THIS POINT BEFORE I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. ANY ATTEMPTS TO START MY CAR AGAIN WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND A TOW TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WAS NEEDED.

"TAKATA RECALL". I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE BURNT OUT BRAKE LIGHT BULB 5 TIMES SINCE 2017. THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN STATIONARY. THE LIGHT SOCKET HAS MELTED. BULBS NO LONGER FIT AS THE LAMP ASSEMBLY IS DISTORTED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS CAN CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE CAUSING HARM OR DEATH TO ME AND MY FAMILY.
WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION THE BRAKES COME ON. WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN AS IF I'M PUSHING ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR STALLS FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN AS I PUSH THE GAS PETAL THE CAR WILL ZOOM OFF. ONCE THE CAR IS IN PARK AND THE ENGINE IF OFF. THE BRAKES ARE STILL ENGAGED CAUSING THE LIGHT TO REMAIN ON UNTIL I BLEED THE BRAKES DOWN . AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR THEY COME BACK ON AND I HAVE TO KEEP PUSING ON THE BREAK UNTIL THEY TURN OFF

THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED A BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE BOLT FELL OUT OFF THE SOCKET AND THE WIRE OF THE SOCKET WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT PUT OUT THE FIRE AND REMOVED THE LIGHT BULB TO PREVENT IT FROM BURSTING INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS BURNING OUT LIGHTS WITHIN DAYS.IT GETS SO HOT IT MELTED THE SOCKETS IT SCREWS INTO. ONLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS.
STEERING COUPLER HAS GONE BAD. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY COMPONENT WHICH HAS A LONG HISTORY OF BEING DEFECTIVE ON HYUNDAI VEHICLES. I ALSO HAVE A 2011 HYUNDAI THAT HAD TO HAVE THIS ITEM REPLACED. ALTHOUGH THIS HAS HAD THE WARRANTY EXTENDED THIS ITEM SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE LONG LIST OF RECALLED ITEMS ON THESE VEHICLES.

LAST YEAR 2017 WE HAD CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND IT ALSO HAD A RECALL AT TIME. DO THE INSPECTION AND RECALL. RECALL WAS FOR METAL SHAVINGS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE GOT VEHICLE BACK AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THIS YEAR 2018 AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT JIFFY LUBE THERE WAS AN ENGINE NOISE. THEN WE GOT A RECALL ABOUT THE COMPUTER CHANGE WITH THE BEARING WEAR ISSUE'S WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED BEFORE WE TOOK IT IN NOT FOND OF SERVICE AT FAULKNER. SO THEY WERE TO DO THE RECALL AND TO PLEASE CHECK THE ENGINE NOISE WE STILL HEAR IT ONCE AND A WHILE. WE ALSO DID A CASE WITH HYUNDAI WITH ENGINE NOISE ISSUE AND THE FACT THAT THIS LAST RECALL WAS NOT A FIX IT WAS A COVER YOUR [XXX] RECALL. I DID NOT WANT ANYONE IN MY FAMILY DRIVING A CAR THAT THE ENGINE COULD JUST SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR IS USED FOR LONG DISTANCE DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK.. 200 MILES A DAY. DOING 70 -75 ON HIGHWAY THINKING THAT THE ENGINE COULD SLOW DOWN AND YOU HAVE TRACTOR TRAILERS ON YOUR BUMPER DOES NOT GIVE ME A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING. AFTER WE TOOK IT IN FOR THIS RECALL THEY TOLD US THEY COULD NOT CHECK THE ENGINE FOR METAL SHAVINGS DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE JUST CHANGED THE OIL. NOW IF THIS IS THE CASE WHY DID THEY NOT TELL US THIS THE LAST TIME THEY "CHECKED THE ENGINE" THINKING THEY DID NOT CHECK IT CAUSE THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE OIL. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I STILL DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. WHAT CAN BE DONE AT THIS POINT? THE CAR HAS 140,000 THOUSAND MILES AND OTHER THEN THIS ENGINE IT MIGHT LAST ANOTHER COUPLE YEARS. THE ENGINE MAKES THE NOISE WHILE SITTING STILL, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. NOBODY AT THE DEALER WANTS TO TAKE THE CAR AND DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE. THE CASE WAS CLOSED AFTER WE TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER FAULKNER OF HYUNDAI BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT CHECK FOR ENGINE METAL. THIS WAS MARCH OF 2019. HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY BURNING OUT WAY EARLIER THAN THEY SHOULD. THEY ARE BEING INSTALLED PROPERLY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND LOTS OF OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AS I DON'T ALWAYS KNOW WHEN THEY ARE BURNT OUT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR STALLED AND I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. I PUSHED MY PUSH TO START BUTTON AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I PUSHED IT AGAIN AND THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP WITH NO WEIRD SOUNDS. THEN I PULLED BACK INTO THE FREEWAY AND GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT TO CHECK THE OIL. I WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 500 MILES, THE OIL WAS LOW SO I ADDED A QUART THAT I BOUGHT FROM THE CHEVRON I PULLED INTO. I THEN GOT BACK ON THE FREEWAY BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT, SO I CHANGED IT TO MANUAL MODE AND STARTED SHIFTING MYSELF AND IT GOT UP TO LIKE 60 MPH BUT THEN WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ANY MORE EVEN WITH MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN. I CONTINUED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME UNTIL THE CAR STARTED TO SOUND LIKE IT WAS GOING OVER THOSE BUMPS IN THE ROAD THAT ARE MEANT TO KEEP YOU AWAKE. ONCE I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE AN EXTREMELY LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. I PARKED IT OFF TO THE SIDE AND CALLED A MECHANIC OUT TO LOOK AT IT. HE FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL (AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOS ATTACHED) AND TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE.
