THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR MORE THAN 60 DAYS AND THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR OF THE SAFETY RECALLS.
FOR YEARS NOW, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MULTIPLE BRAKE LIGHTS DAY AFTER DAY. I'VE GOTTEN TICKETS FROM THIS. I HAVE PICTURES OF BURNT PLASTIC MELTING (FIRE HAZARD!) WHY IS THIS NOT BEING ADDRESSED AS I JUST READ OVER 50 OF THE SAME COMMENT?! THEN RECENTLY, I REPLACED THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY ON BOTH SIDES. A FEW DAYS AGO, MY BRAKES WILL NOT TURN OFF! I AM DRIVING AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON ALL THE TIME! AGAIN, SAFETY ISSUE! I HAVE YOUNG KIDS AND ONE CAR! I JUST LEFT DEALERSHIP SHOWING THEM PROBLEM AND GET THE CAR BACK WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS STILL ON!! $300 LATER AND MY PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED!! IT WASN'T EVEN TOUCHED! I KEEP READING THE SAME PROBLEMS OVER AND OVER AND NOTHING IS ADDRESSED!! I HAVE SPENT MORE MONEY ON REPAIRS VS WHAT I ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE CAR (NOT TO MENTION I'VE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2013. IN 2016 I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE! PLEASE MAKE THE LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL WIRING A RECALL!! WE NEED HELP THIS CRAP IS EXPENSIVE! I REGRET BUYING THIS VEHICLE SO MUCH!!
HAD ENGINE REPLACED LESS THAN 60 DAYS AGO-EXPERIENCING INDICATIONS OF GAS PEDAL LOSING POWER. TOOK TO HYUNDAI IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA-SERVICE MAN CHRIS SAID HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG-SUGGEST FILTER SERVICE AND BRAKE LINE FLUSHING-SPENT OVER 220.00 FOR THE WRONG THINGS-SCARED TO DRIVE VEHICLE AFTER RECEIVING RECALL LETTERS IN MAIL TWO DAYS LATER-THIS IS A RECALL ON A NEW ENGINE???-LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN-I TOOK IT IN TO DEALER AND THEY TREATED MY SITUATION AS NOTHING. I AM DOCUMENTING EVERYTHING

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO BENTLEY HYUNDAI (3805 UNIVERSITY DR, HUNTSVILLE, AL 35816, (256) 713-0505). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY SERVICED THE VEHICLE PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL CAMPAIGN; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE PART REPLACED WAS A NEWLY DESIGNED OEM ENGINE ASSEMBLY. AFTER THE DEALER'S REPAIR, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V934000 (ENGINE, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STEERING COUPLER WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED AT AROUND 80,000, ENGINE FAILED AT 106,000ISH AND WAS REPLACED BY HYUNDAI WITH REMANUFACTURED MOTOR, STEERING IS MAKING NOISE AGAIN AND ACTING EXACTLY LIKE BEFORE RELATED TO THE STEERING COLUMN COUPLER. NOTICED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT STEERING FAILURE ISSUES AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT. ALSO, VOICED CONCERNS ABOUT REPETITIVE FAILURE OF REAR LIGHT BULBS AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE FAULTY POOR QUALITY LIGHT PLUGS OR TOO LIGHT OF WIRING FOR LIGHTS ON CAR; NOTHING DONE A PEACOCK HYUNDAI IN COLUMBIA TO CHECK MATTER OR REMEDY MATTER. PEACOCK HYUNDAI IS NOW STATING THAT THE STEERING COLUMN HAS FAILED ON A 5 YEAR OLD CAR REQUESTING APPROXIMATELY 1600.00 TO REPLACE ON ISSUE THAT IS ACTING LIKE COUPLER PROBLEM; ONE OF THE HYUNDAI PEOPLE IN THE BAY SAID THAT IS A COUPLER ISSUE AND THE OTHER JUMPED IN AND SAID IT WASN'T. NOTE: THIS VEHICLE HAD SAID COUPLER REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY; ENGINE FAILED AND WAS REPLACED AT 106,000 DUE TO SHAVINGS IN ENGINE (RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN), NOW THIS REOCCURRENCE OF A STEERING ISSUE HAS OCCURRED JUST AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. JUST TO PASS THIS ONE AS WELL; CAR HAS HAD TWO BRAKE JOBS WITHIN TWO YEARS AND I DRIVE CONSERVATIVELY.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE BATTERY CABLE WAS RESET, THE VEHICLE STARTED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLY STEERED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED PERIODICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUSSMAN HYUNDAI & GENESIS (1645 EASTON RD, WILLOW GROVE, PA 19090, (215) 392-9020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SMELLED FUEL FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN HE ARRIVED HOME, THE CONTACT SMELLED SMOKE AND SAW FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY CALLED GRAY EPPERSON HYUNDAI (4100 APD 40, CLEVELAND, TN 37311, (423) 464-4881) ABOUT THE SMOKE ODOR AND WAS INFORMED NOT TO WORRY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. AFTER THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY THE FIRST TIME. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V934000 (ENGINE, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), BUT HE DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
I DROVE MY CAR TO WORK AND AFTER I PARKED, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION.SINCE THE KEY WAS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED, THE CARE WAS ON ACC, WHICH MEANS, YOU WOULD NEED TO LEAVE YOUR CAR RUNNING, IF NOT YOUR BATTERY WOULD DRAIN/DIE. IT TOOK 20-30 MINUTES TO GET THE KEY OUT. IT BEGAN TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY AND AS I RESEARCHED I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI SONATA'S IN GENERAL. TO REMOVE THE KEY, A PERSON WOULD NEED TO PULL UP ON THE SHIFT LEVER, PUT SOMETHING IN THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE (SUCH AS A PEN OR SMALL WRENCH) OR IF ALL ELSE FAILS DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. I WAS SENT BY THE DEALER TO A LOCKSMITH, BUT THEY SHARED IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE SHIFT LEVER ITSELF. I WAS RECOMMENDED TO PUT WD 40 IN THE IGNITION, BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE, THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY, TO WHICH I WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED SEVERAL WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. AS OF NOW, MY CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
FEBURARY 28 2019 COMING HOME FROM MY MOTHERS BIRTHDAY DINNER MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 35MPH TO 65MPH IN A FEW SECONDS. BETWEEN THE RAIN AND SUDDEN ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE LOST TRACTION. I TRIED THE BRAKES, EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND FAILED.I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM GOING OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO A ROCK WALL INSTEAD. WE HIT AT APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 45 MPH. MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA WAS TOTALED. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE GEAR SHIFT TO GO IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. POLICE REPORT SHOWS MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION. WE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. THIS HAPPENED IN HELEN WHITE COUNTY GEORGIA. WHEN THE TOW COMPANY ARRIVED THEY TURNED THE CAR ON AND IT WENT TO FULL ACCELERATION. EMT POLICE OFFICER AND TOW TRUCK DRIVER WITNESSED. I ALSO HAVE PICTURES IN ADDITION I HAVE 2 VIDEOS FROM MY HUSBANDS ASE CERTIFIED SHOP OF THE CAR BEING TURNED ON AND ACCELERATING ON IT'S OWN IN PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE POLICE IMPOUND LOT AND LATER RETRIEVED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V934000 (ENGINE, FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE) AFTER THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
DRIVER DOOR COLLISION. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR, I HEAR A LOUD SOUND FROM THE ROOF OF MY CAR. I PULLED ASIDE AND SAW THAT THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON MY CAR (HYUNDAI SONATA 2013) WAS BROKEN. AT FIRST I THOUGHT SOMETHING MIGHT HAVE HIT THE CAR BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HIT THE CAR. IT JUST EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND MY GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE, I HAD TO PUT A PAIR OF SCISSORS IN THE SHIFT LOCK SO IT WOULD MOVE, THEN MY BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT. I HAVENT HAD IT FIXED YET. MY ENGINE BLEW ALSO A FEW YEARS AGO, I HAD THAT FIXED BUT I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS. IT MAY BE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH OR THE SHIFTER CABLE
MY WHOLE POWER STEERING COLUMN GAVE OUT AS SOON AS I HIT 100,000. IT WAS KNOCKING AS I WAS DRIVING, ON ALL STREETS AND IT FELT LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL AND WHEELS WERE GOING TO FALL OFF. MY MECHANIC SAID THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THEY KEEP 22 IN STOCK AT ALL TIMES, BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS GIVE OUT.. THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GET IT FIXED, NOT UNDER WARRANTY, NOT EVEN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I'M A REALTOR AND WITHOUT A CAR. I'M FRUSTRATED AS I'VE ONLY HAD IT A YEAR AND TO TRADE IT IN I'D TAKE A $3,000 LOSS. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH TO FIX IT.
IM FRUSTRATED BECAUSE THIS WILL MAKE THE 4TH BULB I'VE PURCHASED FOR MY CAR. SEEMS LIKE EVERY MONTH FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS I'VE BEEN BUYING BRAKE LIGHTS. I TOOK MY CAR INTO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN GAINESVILLE AND THE TOLD ME THE SOCKET MELTED CAUSING THE LIGHT TO BLOW. I SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST BECAUSE IT'S A MALFUNCTION WITH THE LIGHTING.
THE VEHICLE HAS SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG RECALLS AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO COMPLETE THEM ON THE CAR. THEY HAD THE CAR IN A DEALERSHIP FOR 90 DAYS AND HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE RECALLS ON THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE THEM TO MOVE FORWARD AND COMPLETE THE WORK ON THE CAR SO THAT I CAN GET IT REMOVED FROM THE REPAIRING DEALERSHIP.

WHILE ACCELERATING ON A BUSY ROAD SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE STALLED, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART MY VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT ALL OPTIONS TO ACCELERATE OR CONTINUE DRIVING WERE GONE. THERE WAS NO ADVANCED INDICATORS THAT THIS WAS GOING TO OCCUR.
CAR DIED AT A LEFT TURN INTERSECTION AFTER COMING TO A STOP, CAR WOULD TEMPORARILY RESTART ONLY TO DIE SECONDS LATER. TESTED FOR ERROR CODES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED FROM THE TURN LANE AND NO ERRORS CAME UP.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CLANKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROADS ANY LITTLE BUMP IT MAKES NOISEAND WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL IT HAS SLACK IN TENSION AND CLACKS ALSO STATIONARY AND MOVING
I HAD TO REPLACE THE CV JOINT ON ONE SIDE OF THE CAR AND THEN MONTHS LATER THE OTHER SIDE. I WAS TOLD BY MY BODY SHOP THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING WITH ALOT OF THE HYUNDAI SONATAS. ALSO, I HAVE REPLACED LIGHT BULBS BLOWING MONTHLY IN MY CAR AND ONE HA ACTUALLY BURNED. I HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE BULBS ON MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHERS SONATA'S OF THE SAME MODEL ARE HAVING ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE SWITCHED FROM OFF TO ON WHILE DRIVING . THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO DECELERATE . I'VE ALSO NOTICED ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH BULBS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AS WELL. FOR EXAMPLE , WHEN IT BEGINS TO RAIN IF YOU TURN ON THE LIGHTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE STATE LAW, THE CAR LOSES POWER AND DECELERATES.
ENGINE RECALL - I DID AN OIL CHANGE AT GLENDALE HYUNDAI CA., AND THE VEHICLE IS NOW BLOWING THICK WHITE SMOKE THROUGH THE TAIL PIPE. THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING, AND THE OIL IS SLUDGY AND IT SIZED UP ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36K MILES ON IT... I DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTED THAT THE MODEL THAT HAS RECALLS ON THE ENGINE FOR SLUDGY AND KNOCKING AND WORN-OUT BEARINGS ARE HYUNDAI SONATA FROM THE 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEARS IT HAS EITHER THE 2.0-LITER TURBO OR 2.4-LITER VERSION OF THE 4-CYLINDER THETA II ENGINE. IM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND SEE WHAT AND HOW THEYLL HANDLE THE SITUATION.
DISCOVERED THE L/F SPRING HAD BROKEN DURING REGULAR SERVICE. HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. CONTACTED HYUNDAI ASKED IF THERE WAS A POSSIBLE RECALL AND WAS TOLD NOT FOR MY MAKE OR MODEL OR YEAR, BUT DID DISCOVER THE 2011'S HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS & A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I FEEL THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A RECALL FOR THE 2013'S SINCE BOTH CARS USE THE SAME SPRINGS.
BRAKE LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHT HAS BLOWN 50+ TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OVERHEATING AND CAUSING DISCOLORATION AND A FIRE HAZARD. THE BULBS GET SO HOT THAT THE PLASTIC CASING ARE WARPED.
CAR HAD A ENGINE RECALLED PER DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI. 2 YEARS LATER THE 2ND ENGINE HAS FAILED. SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST. I WAS TOLD THE RINGS WENT BAD IN THE 2ND ENGINE. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE I COULD NOT SEE THE CAR BEHIND ME AND THEY COULD NOT SEE ME.

A DEALER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
I HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED AND HAVE BEEN REPLACING REAR TAIL LIGHTS ON THE LEFT SIDE, DRIVER, MORE THAN 3X A YEAR. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT. HAVE BEEN ISSUED REPAIR WORK ORDER AT LEAST TWICE. LATE DECEMBER 2018 REPLACED LIGHT AGAIN AND VERIFIED LIGHT ON JANUARY 19, 2019 AND BULB IS NOT WORKING AGAIN AND REPLACED. AND THE SIDE LIGHT COVER IS MELTED FROM THE SIDE BULB. WAS TOLD BY AUTO TECH THAT THIS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE.
HEAD LAMPS TURN OFF AND DASH GO TO MAX ILLUMINATION, TEMPORARILY BLINDING THE DRIVER. THE DURATION IS UP TO 5 SECONDS. THIS CAN HAPPEN JUST ONCE OR SEVERAL TIMES PER OCCURRENCE. INSIDE THE CAR CAN BE LIKE A SLOW STROBE LIGHT EFFECT. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING IN ANY CONDITIONS. THERE IS NO WARNING AND THE PROBLEM STARTS. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR SINCE 2017. THE PROBLEM JUST RANDOMLY HAPPENS.
ENGINE STALLS OUT
MY CAR TAKE MORE ENGINE OIL EVERY 400 MILES MY CAR NEED 1.5 LITERS ENGINE OIL AND MY STEERING SOME TIME STUCK AND WE FEEL NOT SAFE FOR DRIVING.
STEERING WHEEL NOISE/CLUNK. I AM EXPERIENCING A NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER RESEARCH I SAW ALOT OF PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE ON YOU TUBE. A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAS THE SAME MODEL HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND HAD IT FIXED. LOOKS LIKE IT'S A COMMON ISSUE ON THIS MODEL CARS.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY EXTERIOR LIGHTS CONSTANTLY BURNING OUT. BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT, I WAS NOTIFIED WHEN I WAS PULLED OVER FOR A TRAFFIC STOP. I CHANGED THE LIGHT BULB THAT SAME DAY, AND TWO DAYS LATER THE BULB WAS BURNT OUT AGAIN. I CHANGED THE BULB THINKING IT WAS A BAD BULB, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED ABOUT A WEEK LATER. I WAS TOLD AT HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE, AND THEY FIXED IT. HOWEVER, A MONTH LATER, MY BULB IS OUT AGAIN, PLUS MY TWO LICENSE PLATE BULBS, AND A TAILLIGHT. I AGAIN FIXED ALL LIGHTS, AND TO NO SURPRISE, PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT IS OUT ONCE AGAIN. ALSO, MY HEADLIGHTS WERE JUST REPLACED THE SAME TIME BECAUSE THEY SEEMED DIM. BRAND NEW, SUPPOSEDLY BRIGHTER BULBS, LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE OLD DIM LIGHTS. I CANNOT SEE AT NIGHT UNLESS I USE MY HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT STILL NO RECALL HAS BEEN PUT OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
A KNOCKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD UNDER THE HOOD AS I STARTED MY CAR UP. I TOOK IT TO THE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY, AND WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE WAS GOING BAD. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE IT TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, WHICH IS 4 MILES AWAY. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE UP, I DROVE IT FIFTY FEET AWAY FROM MY MECHANIC AND THE ENGINE MADE A SEIZING SOUND AND SHUT OFF. THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION AND WOULDN'T STOP AS THE BRAKES WOULDN'T ENGAGE. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, JUST NARROWLY AVOIDING A CAR ACCIDENT. I HAD NO WARNING INDICATORS THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, I HAD ZERO ENGINE LIGHTS WARNING OF ANY IMPENDING ISSUES BEFORE THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE ENGINE, WHICH ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE. MY MECHANIC HAS PROVIDED ME WITH A FULL HISTORY OF EVERY OIL CHANGE AND REPAIR ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE. THIS MECHANIC IS ALSO THE GENERAL MANAGER OF A REPUTABLE AUTO SHOP AND ASSURED ME I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT AND HYUNDAI SOLD A LEMON. I DID TAKE A PICTURE OF MY DASH BOARD 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO THIS EVENT HAPPENING. THIS CAN CONFIRM I DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE WARNING LIGHT PROVIDING A WARNING BEFORE THE ENGINE SEIZING UP COMPLETELY. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING I WAS REQUIRED TO BY HYUNDAI TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE. BUT THE ENGINE SEIZED REGARDLESS. 2013 SONATA SE 2.0 T MILEAGE : 63,223 SOLID MAINTENANCE HISTORY ON THE ENGINE AND CAR. I CAN PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE MAINTENANCE LIST WHEN REQUESTED. NEED A FEW DAYS TO GET THE ENTIRE HISTORY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOT PROVIDED A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN REPAIR. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT MONTHLY SINCE 2017. THE LIGHT SOCKETS HAVE MELTED TO THE ACTUAL BULBS. THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS A CONCERN THAT THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND MY 10 & 12 YEAR OLD'S ARE IN THE BACK SEAT. LAST WEEK WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WHILE PRESSING GAS AND WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED UNTIL I LET OFF THE GAS AND THE GAS AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. IT CONCERNS ME THAT THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

SONATA RECALL: WELL FOR STARTERS I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A 18 WHEELER BECAUSE THE CAR SHUT OFF ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. LUCKY I WAS TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT IT HIT THE SIDE RAIL BECAUSE I COULDNT GET IT TO STOP.NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL.
