I HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH TURBO. IN 2017 I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH ENGINE KNOCKING. TOOK THE CAR TO HYUNDAI, THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER ALMOST 3 MONTHS, I GOT THE CAR BACK. IT RAN WELL FOR MONTHS, NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, IN MARCH OF 2018 WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 6 TIMES WITH OIL LEAKS, ISSUES WITH THE TURBO, ALL OF WHICH GO BACK TO THE ENGINE ISSUES. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES OF BRINGING THE CAR BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER SEVERAL TIMES OF THEM "FIXING" THE PROBLEM, WE STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. THEY REPLACED THE TURBO FEED PIPE, THEY FIXED THE TURBO OIL LINE AND THE TURBO RETURN PIPE, AND WE ARE STILL HAVING BAD OIL LEAKS. THE LAST TIME WE BROUGHT IT IN, I DON'T THINK THEY EVEN FIXED ANYTHING, THE SERVICE MANAGER JUST CALLED AND TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD AND HE COULD SET ME UP WITH A SALESPERSON. HERE IT IS THREE WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE HAS DIED (BLOWN PISTON ROD). MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT AND IT JUST DIED ON HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THANK GOD IT WASN'T BUSY AT THE TIME AND HE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
CAR WAS PARKED. NO PRIOR WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS HAD PREVIOUSLY COME ON. WENT TO START CAR, ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD FLASHED ON AND OFF BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. POPPED HOOD AND FOUND GRAY FOAM CORROSION ON POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND MAIN FUSE ON TERMINAL BLOWN. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO START VEHICLE FAILED AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALER IN ALBANY, NY. DEALER DIAGNOSED VEHICLE AS NEEDING NEW BATTERY, FUSE (DUH!) AND STARTER! I HAVE NOT IN 30 YEARS HAD A STARTER AND BATTERY NEED TO BE REPLACED AT SAME TIME. THIS IS A HYUNDAI BATTERY TOO, NOT AFTERMARKET. OVER $800 TO GET VEHICLE FIXED! THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY CRACKS OR ANYTHING AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE THE CORROSION CAME FROM.
BRAND NEW TIRE WITH 500 MILES ON IT SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. SIDEWALL BLEW OUT AND COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE TREAD AND THE BEAD. I HAVE PICS.
WHILE CAR WAS PARKED, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED MY LIGHT, BUMPER, AND COOLANT TANK. THE FRONT LIGHTS BURNED OUT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY BURNING OUT AND STAYING ON WHILE CAR IS OFF. ALREADY REPLACED THE BRAKE STOPPER SWITCH BUT STILL SAME ISSUE.
MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO FEEL A LITTLE LOOSE AND STARTED MAKING A THUMPING NOISE WHEN STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT. IT DOES THIS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN IDLE OR WHILE BEEN DRIVEN, DOES NOT DO THIS WHEN TURNED OFF. I WAS JUST TOLD BY A LOCAL MECHANIC THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT IS NOT THE ONLY NEWER HYUNDAI SONATA WITH THIS ISSUE THAT HE HAS HAD TO REPAIR. COST OF REPAIR $900+
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,209.
I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE JULY OF 2017 AND ABOUT 3 MONTHS INTO OWNING IT I NOTICED A LOSS IN POWER DURING ACCELERATION. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHILE IT'S PARKED, AFTER IT'S BEEN DRIVEN, THE CAR MAKES A POPPING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AREA. RECENTLY I WAS WAITING IN TRAFFIC AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE CAR SHUDDERED AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF BUT THEN SMOOTHED OUT. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE DURING IDLING SINCE THEN. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE CAR DOESN'T SHIFT SMOOTHLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND SMOKE WAS PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (JOE PECHELES HYUNDAI, 203 S.E. GREENVILLE BLVD, GREENVILLE, NC) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,000.
TAKATA RECALL: MY 2013 HYUNDAI SANOTA IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH OIL OR TO THE BEARIMGS I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE CAR TO THE HYUNIDA DEALERSHIP AND LET THEM FIX THE 5 RECALLS IT ALREADY HAD ON IT WHICH ONE WAS THIS ISSUE AFTER THE FACT THEY WAS "FIXED" 3 MONTHS LATER IN CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE PURGE VALVE MANIFISTER VALVES PRETTY MUCH AND THING THAY HAS TO DO WITH FUEL OR AIR OR GAS GETTING TO THE ENGINE NOW ITS CONSTENTLY STALLING WHEN IM ON THE EXPRESSWAY AMD TODAY SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD I REALLY LIKED THIS CAR IT ONLY HAS 103,000 MILES ON IT I DO ALL THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED MAINTENCE AMF THIS IS WHAT I GET VERY UPSET WITH HYUDAI SENSE THEY SUPPOSABLY FIXED THE RECALL FOR THAT ALREADY THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO SO THERES 10,000.00 DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN
VEHICLE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE IN FULL SPEED 70MPH, AFTER IT STARTED BACK WOULD SLOW DOWN TO LOWER SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING, THEN IT STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE KEY FAB, AND WOULD NOT START AT ALL.
MY STEERING HAS STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURN OR WHEN HITTING A BUMP. IT ALSO MAKES THIS NOISE WHEN IN PART AND THE STEERING IS TURNED EITHER WAY.
KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE WHILE DRIVING SEAT BELT ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT REWIND HANGS UP
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE A 2013 SONATA 2.0 AND THE ENGINE JUST SEIZED UP AND STOPPED RUNNING. IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THE SAID IN ONE DAY THAT WAS COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT HAS 88000 MILES AND I AM WORRIED THE NEW MOTOR WILL NOT LAST AS LONG.
ENGINE FAILED: LOUD NOISE, RATTLING SOUND, INABILITY TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 45MPH. TWO SHOPS WE TOOK IT TO DIAGNOSED AS ENGINE FAILED, REPLACE ENGINE ... BASED ON COMPRESSION TEST, STETHOSCOPE TO ENGINE, ETC. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY, WHEN THE NOISE STARTED, LACK OF ACCELERATION WAS FELT, DRIVER PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND DROVE SLOWLY UP TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. WE ACTUALLY DROVE 12 MILES ON CITY STREETS TO A MECHANIC SHOP WE KNEW WHO GAVE THE FIRST DIAGNOSIS.
I AND MY HUSBAND BOTH OWN HYUNDAI'S. WE BOTH HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR ENGINE ISSUES WITH BOTH VEHICLES CONSUMING AN INCREDIBLE AND ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF OIL LEAVING US TO HAVE TO PUT IN OVER MORE THAN A GALLON OR MORE OF OIL INTO EACH VEHICLE. THIS HAS CAUSED US MUCH LOST TIME IN BEING ABLE TO ENJOY OUR VEHICLE. AFTER BOTH VEHICLES COMPLETING OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, BOTH VEHICLES RECVD ENGINE BLOCK REPLACEMENTS. THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. BOTH VEHICLES HAVE REVERTED BACK TO DOING THE SAME THING. THE ISSUES STATED BACK UP AFTER ABOUT A YEAR. WE HAVE HAD TO NOT DRIVE THE CARS, PUT THE CARS IN THE SHOP, RENT OTHER VEHICLES TO DRIVE WHILE AT THE SAME TIME HAVE TO PAY THE VEHICLE MONTHLY PAYMENTS. THIS IS UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER, HYUNDAI ON PURPOSELY SELLING DAMAGED CARS AND LEAVING THE THOUSANDS OF OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE UNFLUX OF ISSUES THAT IT HAS AND CONTINUE TO CAUSE. BOTH VEHICLES ARE NOW BACK TO SQUARE ONE WITH BOTH NEEDING TO GO BACK INTO THE SHOP FOR MORE ENGINE WORK WHATEVER THAT MAY ENTAIL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED US THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY VEHICLES FOR US TO USE OR BORROW WHILE OUR VEHICLES ARE BEING MAINTENANCE. THIS IS ANOTHER INCONVENIENCE BECAUSE NOW WE HAVE TO PAY THE CAR NOTE, RENT A VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY PAY FOR ANY MAINTENANCE AND THEN HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SAME MANUFACTURER TO TRY TO GET REIMBURSED. THIS HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF A NIGHTMARE. WE WANT JUSTICE AND WE WANT THE MANUFACTURER HYUNDAI TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISCHEAVOUS AND SELFISH ACTIONS. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING BUT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO THE SHOP FOR NEW ENGINES IN LATE 2018 AND MY HUSBAND AFTER MINE. WE COULD NOT AFFORD TO HAVE BOTH VEHICLES TO BE IN THE SHOP AT THE SAME TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT NOTICED A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEHMAN HYUNDAI (21400 NW 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33169, (866) 647-4751) WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND STATED THAT THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AND THE RATTLING SOUND REMAINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,770.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY WITH 60 SPEED LIMIT. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND EVEN THE STEERING WHEEL GOT LOCKED AND BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING, I SAW MYSELF GOING STRAIGHT TO THE FRONT CAR. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO THINK OF THE HANDLE BRAKE BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THAT. THE CAR WAS SHOWING EPS LIGHTS ON WHICH I FOUND OUT LATER WAS AN ENGINE DEFECT. SO I STOPPED IN MIDDLE LANE OF THE HIGHWAY UNABLE TO MOVE MY CAR WITH CARS COMING AT ME WITH HIGH SPEED. AFTER AN HOUR ONE CAR STOPPED HELPING ME PUSHING MY CAR WITH HIS CAR TO THE STREET. THIS IS NOT FORGIVABLE, MY LIFE WAS IN SERIOUS RISK. I DONT KNOW IF I SHOULD HAVE DIED IN MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY TO PROVE THE DANGER OF THE SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP SAID APPARENTLY I HAVE CHECKED IT FOR THE RECALL AND AT THE TIME THEY CHECKED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM BUT AFTER FEW MONTH IT FAILED ALL OF SUDDEN?!! NOW THEY ARE ORDERING ME A NEW ENGINE BUT I CAN NOT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP, COMPANY AND CAR ANYMORE.
'TAKATA RECALL' MY CAR ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING GOING ONE. I HAVE CHANGED ONE OF BREAK LIGHT LIKE 3 TIMES BECAUSE IT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF. IT'S SOME TIME OF ELECTRIAL ISSUE WHICH CAN LEAD TO SOMETHING DANGEROUS. I AM HONESTLY SCARED TO KEEP DRIVING MY CAR WITH MY CHILD INSIDE. DON'T EVEN KNOW IF MY AIRBAG WORKS BECAUSE THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE MECHANIC BUT THAT LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF. I'M TRIED OF CHANGING MY BREAK LIGHT OVER AND OVER AGAIN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
HAVE HAD TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL AS BRAKE LIGHTS. ON AVERAGE, 2 OR 3 TIMES A YEAR FOR EACH. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHT BULB ACTUALLY MELTED THE CASING AROUND IT AND WARPED IT SO COULDN'T JUST REPLACE THE BULB ANY LONGER. MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE SAME THING WAS STARTING TO HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT ASSEMBLY AROUND A MARKER LIGHT AS WELL AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2018-I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON I-17 SOUTHBOUND WHEN THE ENGINE SEIZED. I LOST ALL POWER BUT LUCKILY WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE ISSUES WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JULY 2017
Steering wheel sticks at all speeds. Also, car often veers left or right then when correcting the steering will stick and I will have to jerk the wheel in the correction direction. This happens everyday. At high speeds it can almost feel as if I do not have full control of the car. Also when decelerating from high speeds the steering will shake. I take the highway often and it is at those time that I feel my safety and the safety of other drivers is at risk. I have went to my dealership (Universal Hyundai) with this complaint at least 3-4 times and they have told me there is no apparent issue. There has been no warning lamps, this issue first started happening in 2018.
TAKATA RECALL -ALL OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE CAR WILL BLOW WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF REPLACING. -THE BACK LIGHTS WILL MELT INTO THE BULB SOCKET AND REQUIRE THE ENTIRE UNIT TO BE REPLACED. -THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL SHUT OFF, EVEN THOUGH THE BULBS ARE FINE. - CRUISE CONTROL WONT WORK (THIS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME OF THE COMPUTER UPDATE ON ENGINE RECALL. -TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER RECALL TO UPDATE COMPUTER ON ENGINE (FROM PREVIOUS ENGINE RECALL) -MY RADIO COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT.
MY CAR SHUTDOWN WHILE I WAS ON THE ROAD, THURS. SEPT. 20TH, 2018 AT 10 PM.. I COULDN'T GET TO TURN BACK OVER, COULDN'T GET THE HAZARDS TO WANT TO STAY ON, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I CALLED 911 BASED ON THE FACT I WAS ON A BACK ROAD, AND HAD VEHICLES PASSING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I THEN NOTICED AN ODD SMELL, WHICH I MENTIONED TO 911. LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER, SMOKE BEGAN POURING THROUGH THE VENTS. AS THEY ASK MY LOCATION, I NOTICED A FLICKER OUTSIDE MY WINDOW TOWARDS THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE (ALMOST LOOKED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE WHEEL WELL). I GOT OUT, ANSWERED THE QUESTION, AS THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REACTED QUICKLY, BUT THE CAR WAS A LOSS. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM INSURANCE, AS I HAD RECENTLY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FEB. OF 2017, WITH NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY PROBLEMS.
THE STEERING WHEEL CLICKS AND STICKS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING IN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO KEEP STRAIGHT. THE STEERING FEELS VERY HEAVY. ON OTHER OCCASIONS, WHEN FIRST STARTING THE ENGINE UP AND TURNING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE STEERING HAS TOO MUCH PLAY.
I HAVE CHANGE MY BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY AT LEAST 3 TIME A WEEK THE SOCKET HAS MELTED WHERE I HAVE TO PUT TAPE ON IT TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. I HAVE GOT WARNING FROM THE POLICE AND ALSO A TICKET BECAUSW I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY BRAKELIGHT OR OUT. SOMETIME THE LIGHT EVEN GE5 STUCK I HAD TO RIG ANOTHER SOCKET TO IT
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND CROSSED OVER SOME RAILROAD TRACKS. ONCE I CROSSED THE RAILROAD TRACKS AND BEGAN TO COME UP A HILL, MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL. SUDDENLY, MY CAR'S GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT WORK, THEN MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING, AND THEN ALL OF MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON (AS PICTURE) I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MPH AND I HAD NO WAY OF STOPPING MY VEHICLE AND HAD TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP MY VEHICLE. I GOT MY CAR TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND I COULD NOT CRANK MY CAR UP OR MOVE IT OUT OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AND MY WHOLE CAR LOCKED UP AND BECAME UNMOVABLE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYTHING ELSE FAILED AND I ALMOST WRECKED INTO A WOODED AREA IN THE MIDDLE OF A CURVE ON THE BUSY ROAD. I HAD TO CALL POLICE TO CONTROL TRAFFIC AND TO KEEP ME AND MY VEHICLE SAFE. I WENT TO TUSCALOOSA HYUNDAI IN ALABAMA AND THEY SAID THAT MY CARS ENGINE SUDDENLY WENT OUT.
BOTH OF OUR BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT ONCE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE HARNESSES OF THE BRAKES ARE BAD. SINCE THE CAR HAS ONLY 55,000, WE FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. THEY ARE GIVING US THE RUN AROUND.
ON SEPT 7 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY MY SONATA 2013 SPONTANEOUSLY BURST INTO FIRE UNDER HOOD OF CAR. MY CAR IS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM PRIOR. NO LIGHTS CAME ON . MY CAR WAS RUNNING GOOD AND HAD ALL PROPER MAINTENANCE. NIGHTMARISH EXPERIENCE. WAITING FOR STATE TROOPER REPORT AND MIDDLETOWN FIRE DEPT NEW JERSEY
I EXPERIENCED AN UNEXPLAINED, UNCONTROLLED VEHICLE ACCELERATION. I STARTED THE VEHICLE, MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT TO DRIVE AND IT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AS IT RACED ACROSS A PARKING LOT, JUMPED A CURB, RAN UP AND THEN BACK DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND CROSSED BACK ACROSS THE PARKING LOT UNTIL THE ACCELERATION CEASED. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO HYUNDAI AMERICA AND THEY HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THEIR RESPONSE WAS "WE WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY MALFUNCTIONS OR DEFECTS THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE ACCIDENT AS YOU ALLEGE. THE GLASS SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO REASON.. I WAS DRIVING 9/5/18 ABOUT 5PM, NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME, NOTHING OVERHEADS, AND I HEARD A LOUD SOUND (LIKE A BULLET) DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING AROUND ME, THE WINDSHIELD LOOKED FINE, BUT THE GLASS SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. THANK GOODNESS THE INSIDE ROOF LINER WAS CLOSED AND THE SHATTERED GLASS DID NOT FALL ON MY FACE OR INTO MY CAR.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY BURN OUT AND GET HOT. MY HARNESS EVEN MELTS DUE TO THE HEAT AND MY BULBS. I HAVE REPLACED MY BRAKE LIGHTS AT LEAST 6 TIMES OR MORE IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO HYUNDAIUSA AND THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE 2016 FOR THEM TO WANT TO CHARGE ME OVER 500.00 FOR THE REPAIR. I'M ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH MY HEADLIGHTS BLOWING, MY INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON WHEN THEY WANT TOO(HAVE TO LEAVE THEM ON OFF ALL THE TIME) AND MY LIGHTS FLICKERING. I AM TERRIFIED OF MY CAR CATCHING FIRE DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES IT'S HAVING. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE I HAD IT AND IT'S RIDICULOUS.
EVERY TIME I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, EVEN SLIGHTLY, IT MAKES A CLICKING SOUND. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP. THE CLICKING SOUND OCCURS WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND WHILE MOVING - IT HAPPENS WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED OR MOVED.
STEERING MALFUNCTION OCCURRED ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO A DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE TRAVELLING ABOUT 45 TO 50MPH, THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY STARTED PULLING TO THE RIGHT, AND WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE LEFT. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE CHANGING LANES, IN THAT WHILE THE CAR WAS GOING FORWARD, IT ALSO KEPT MOVING TO THE RIGHT. THE CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE DIRECTION, EVEN THOUGH I KEPT TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THIS CONTINUED ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF THE HIGHWAY, UNTIL THE CAR HIT THE HIGHWAY BARRIER WALL. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, AND THANK GOD THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, AND THEN CALL 911. THERE WAS DAMAGE MAINLY TO THE RIGHT-FRONT OF THE CAR. BOTH THE OFFICER AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER CHECKED AND CONCLUDED THAT THE TIRES WERE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE ENGINE STILL STARTED WITHOUT HESITATION, HOWEVER DUE TO THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST, THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR. CONSIDERING THAT THERE WERE MANY OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY AT THAT TIME, IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT MY CAR DID NOT HIT ANY OTHER CARS, AND THAT OTHER CARS DID NOT HIT MY CAR. THE NHTSA SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS SONATA VEHICLE-STEERING ISSUE, TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, AND BEFORE IT RESULTS IN EVEN MORE HAZARDOUS, OR TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES CLICKING SOUND WHEN I TURN STEERING WHEEL EVEN VERY SLIGHTLY PLUS GOING OVER BUMPS IT MAKES RATTLING SOUNDS. CLICKS IN STEERING WHEEL HAPPEN WHEN ITS STANDING STILL OR MOVING AS WELL.
WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN THE ENGINE WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR ANY INDICATION THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM TOTALLY STALLED ON ME. I LOST ALL POWER, AND RIGHT AWAY LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKING WAS HARD. LUCKILY I WAS ON A QUIET ROAD AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY, I COULDN'T COMPREHEND A SUDDEN ENGINE STALL LIKE THIS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE LOSING BOTH POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 45,000 MILES. HYUNDAI SAID THE ENGINE IS TOTALLY FRIED AND THEY WILL REQUIRE A COMPLETE REBUILD WHICH COULD TAKE MONTHS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2013 SONATA.
I FEEL LIKE I'M INVESTING MORE MONEY INTO THIS VEHICLE THAN I SHOULD. YOU GUYS KNOW THAT THESE HYUNDAI SONATA 2013+ HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL TO BE FIXED. MY HORN DOESN'T WORK AND MY TAIL LIGHTS ARE MELTING AFTER I JUST PAYED TO GET THEM FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD !!!!!!! The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an abnormal amount of engine oil. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, occasionally while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power. The local dealer was contacted, and the contact was advised that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown NHTSA Campaign because the vehicle had a Rebuilt Title. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted; however, no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
AFTER HITTING THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON, AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR WENT TO IDLE WITHOUT WARNING, THEN BACK TO CRUISE THEN BACK TO IDLE AND STAYED ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN BACK TO CRUISE, THEN BACK TO IDLE. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT ISSUING A RECALL. THE PROBLEM ALMOST CAUSE A CRASH WITH CARS GOING AROUND US. IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE.

SO I REALLY NEED SOME HELP SO I CAN GET THIS REPAIRED WITHOUT HAVE TO PAY $250. MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING VERY FINE UNTIL I WENT TO DRIVE HER ONE DAY AND RATTLING STARTED IN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR NO REASON. SINCE THEN IF I HIT ABOVE 60 IT STARTS SHAKING AND RATTLING FOR NO REASON. HEAD WAS CRACKED MOTOR NO GOOD. $4200 TO REPLACE MOTOR. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO FIRE YET THE SENSOR WAS MELTED OUTSIDE OF THE HEAD. ANTIFREEZE CAME THROUGH PISTONS. HYUNDAI DOESN'T STAND BEHIND ANYTHING. ONE YEAR AGO IDLER BEARING FROZE CAUSING $1500 DAMAGE WITH 102000. THESE CARS SHOULD LAST LONGER FOR THE PRICE YOU PAY. THEY ALWAYS LAY THE BLAME BACK IN YOUR LAP.
BOTH BRAKE TAILLIGHTS BULBS KEEPS BURNING OUT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, IT HAPPENED FOUR TIMES FOR ME THIS YEAR 8/1/2018, AND THREE TIMES LAST YEAR 2017. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS I CHANGE THE BULBS WITH THE MANUFACTURE STANDARD ONES BUT FAILS AGAIN AND AGAIN, I HAVE DONE SOME GOOGLE RESEARCH AND FIND FORUMS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM. ITS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE TAIL LIGHTS SOCKETS ARE OVERHEATING CAUSING THE BULD TO MELT AND STICK INTO THE TAIL LIGHTS SOCKET, I NOTICE THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I CHANGE MY BULB EARLIER THIS YEAR. THERE'S A LOT OF HYUNDAI OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE IT NEEDS TO BE FIX BEFORE SOMEONE'S CAR CATCH ON FIRE.

CRUISE CONTROL WORKS ERRATICALLY. WILL TURN ON, BUT THE "SET" AND "CANCEL" BUTTONS OFTEN DO NOT RESPOND WHEN PRESSED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE "SET" BUTTON, IT EITHER DOES NOT WORK, OR WILL ENGAGE BUT THE CAR WILL START ACCELERATING AND REQUIRES A TAP ON THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE. WHEN THE SET BUTTON DOES ENGAGE PROPERLY, THE CANCEL BUTTON DOES NOT RESPOND WHEN PRESSED, AND BRAKES MUST BE APPLIED TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. IN THE PAST, THIS ISSUE HAD OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD WORK FINE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, BUT THEN THESE SET AND CANCEL FUNCTION ISSUES WOULD REAPPEAR. LATELY, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN PERSISTENT.
