I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER THREE TIMES FOR SERVICE TO AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM OR DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM VIA A CODE. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED THINKING THAT MIGHT ORIGINALLY BE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HESITATES IN LOWER GEARS WHEN IT IS IN EV MODE AND WILL REV AT HIGHER RPM BEFORE SLAMMING INTO GEAR WHEN IT GOES INTO GAS ENGINE MODE. WHEN COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DECELERATING IT WILL SLAM HARD INTO GEAR AS THE CAR BRAKES AND GOES INTO EV MODE. IT IS NOT CONSISTENT AND EVERY TIME THE CAR IS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING WORN WITH THE CAR AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN IN EV MODE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER SOME TIMES AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE GAS ENGINE WILL KICK IN AND ACCELERATE. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH THE HYBRID BATTERY JUST SHUTTING DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY SO IT CONCERNS ME THAT THERE IS MORE OF AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (HYUNDAI OF PHILADELPHIA IN PHILADELPHIA, PA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I'VE REPLACED ONLY MY LEFT BRAKE LIGHT BULB ABOUT 6 TIMES AND ON THE LAST TIME REPLACING IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID I NEED A HARNESS REPLACEMENT. SO NOW IT HAS STARTED TO AFFECT MY THIRD BRAKE LIGHT. I COMES ON AND STAYED ON ONCE I TURN ON MY HEAD LIGHTS. ALSO MY DONE LIGHT TURNS FLICKERS ON AND OFF WHILE THE SWITCH IS IN THE AUTO/NEUTRAL POSITION. THIS TO ME IS A CLEAR FIRE HAZARD BEING THAT IT'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. ALL STARTING FROM THE HARNESS I NEED FOR A BRAKE LIGHT.
THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL DO NOT WORK 50% OF THE TIME UNTIL YOU HIT THE STEERING WHEEL THEN THE SET BUTTON WILL WORK. I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SEARCHING ONLINE FOR 2011-2014 HYUNDAI SONATA'S
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH NO PRIOR WARNING AT ALL, SEVERAL LIGHTS POPPED UP ON MY DASH ALERTING ME OF AN ISSUE AND MY CAR JUST SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER CONCERNED IT MAY BE DUE TO THE ENGINE RECALL. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR AND NEVER HAD ANY INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP AT ALL EVER. IT TURNED OUT MY FUEL IN TANK PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM STILL SHOCKED THAT THIS HAPPENED WITH A 2013 MODEL CAR. I AM VERY CURIOUS IF THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAD A TOYOTA CAMRY 2002 FOR MANY YEARS AND OTHER OLDER MODEL CARS AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A FUEL IN TANK PUMP. I WAS QUOTED $750+ TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. BUT THIS COULD'VE HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS, IF I HAD TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND IN FRONT OF ME. SOMEONE WOULD HAVE EASILY HIT ME NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE ENOUGH WARNING TO STOP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (DELRAY HYUNDAI, 541 NE 6TH AVENUE, DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA 33483) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FROM DAY ONE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN JANUARY 2018. FIRST DRIVE TO WORK. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE STEERING STICKS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS 50-75 MPH. AS ONE DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD, YOU ARE ALWAYS MAKING LITTLE ADJUSTMENTS TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT OR WHILE IN A LONG SWEEPING BEND OR TURN. MY CAR WILL CATCH OR STICK IN THE STRAIGHT UP STEERING POSITION OR WHEN MAKING LONG SWEEPING TURNS. INSTEAD OF THE STEERING WHEEL MOVING SMOOTHLY WHILE MAKE THESE ADJUSTMENTS, THE STEERING WILL STICK AND CAUSE YOU TO OVER STEER. MAKES YOU HAVE TO USE FORCE TO GET THE WHEEL TO MOVE OUT OF ITS STUCK POSITION. IT TENDS TO WEAR YOU OUT BECAUSE YOU'RE CONSTANTLY FIGHTING WITH THE STEERING. I DEAL WITH THIS DAILY AS MY COMMUTE IS 90 MILES A DAY TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON OTHER SITES AS WELL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE ADJUSTED THE STEERING MODE. THE CAR WORKS FINE AT CITY SPEEDS(0-50MPH) BUT TENDS TO REALLY STIFFIN AND GETS "STICKY" AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FEEL THIS IS REALLY GOING TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS. BEING THE CAR JERKS TO THE SIDE WHEN ADJUSTING. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS.
STEERING IS STICKY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE.11
WHILE DRIVING I PERFORMED A QUICK SERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED RESULTING IN HITTING THE MEDIAN. THE CAR WAS TOWED DUE TO INOPPERABLE SEATBELT AND AIRBAGS OBSTRUCTING VIEW. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL OUT FOR THIS ISSUE WITH MODEL AND YEAR, BUT IT SHOWS THAT MY CAR IS NOT UNDER THE RANGE OF VEHICLES COVERED.

THE STEERING IN THIS CAR IS FAULTY AND IT'S BECOMING DANGEROUS. I DON'T HAVE THE ISSUE EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT, BUT IT'S HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AS OF LATE. WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN THE CAR WILL OVER TURN (QUICKLY JERK) TOWARDS THE CURVE OR TOWARDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC EVEN WHEN SWITCHING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY IT DOES THIS AT TIMES. I'LL HAVE TO REGAIN CONTROL IN ORDER TO NOT HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR WHICH WAS TWO SUMMERS AGO. I WILL PUT THE DAY IT HAPPENED LAST BELOW.
BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF STOP BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MALFUNCTIONS

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN I CUT ON MY HEAD LIGHTS SHORTY AFTER THAT MY REAR LIGHTS GO OUT AND THE ONLY ONES TO WORK ARE THE 3 BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. I CAN CUT THE HEADLIGHTS OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND IT DOES THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER. CAR IS STATIONARY. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THE OTHER MORNING IN THE DARK AND WHEN I PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY EVERYTHING WORKED GOT DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENTIRE REAR END QUIT WORKING EXCEPT THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I PUT ON MY RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND MY LICENSE PLATE BULBS STARTED BLINKING THEN SHORTY WENT OUT AFTER A MINUTE.
MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2013 STEERING COLUMN HAS ALWAYS MADE A CLUNK SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, RECENTLY IT IS GETTING WORSE AND RAISES A CAUSE OF AWARENESS AS IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT APPARENTLY KEEPS BEING REPORTED ON THIS VEHICLE. TWO PERSONAL MECHANICS AND AUTONATION HAVE AD SAID IT IS THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY TYPE OF VEHICLE. I AM AFRAID IT WILL LOCK ON ME WHILE DRIVING CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF THE GOVERNED STANDARDS REQUIRED BY LAW TO PROTECT CONSUMERS VEHICLE PURCHASES. I DEEPLY REQUEST AND HIGHLY INSIST THE GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATE THE APPARENTLY MOST COMMON PROBLEM OF THIS VEHICLE BEFORE IT BECOMES SOMETHING TO HAUNT THE COMPANY IN REGRET.

FOR THE LAST YEAR I HAVE BEEN REPLACING LIGHT BULBS FOR MY TAIL LIGHT AND THE BULB KEEP BLOWING OUT OR BUSING IN THE TAIL LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE WIRING HARNESS AND IN 2011-2015 HYUNDAI SONATA THEY HAVE A SHORTAGE IN THEM. I THINK THEY NEED TO RECALL AND THIS PROBLEM NEED TO BE FIX AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS MY STEERING COLUMN HAS BEEN MAKING A WEIRD CLICKING NOISE IN THE STEERING IS EXTREMELY LOOSE I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI ABOUT THIS SITUATION AS WELL AND HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A MECHANIC FOR BOTH REASONS THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING PEOPLE WITH HIGH ON DAYS COME IN WITH THESE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS

THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A HORRIBLE CLANKING NOISE THAT IS GETTING WORSE.
THE WHITE PAINT IS CHIPPING AWAY FROM THE TRUNK AND RIGHT REAR PANEL. MAACO'S EVALUATION INDICATED A PAINT DEFECT WITH CERTAIN CAR BRANDS, WHICH INCLUDES HYUNDAI. THE PAINT BUBBLES AND THEN BREAKS. MAACO STATED THE LIKELIHOOD IS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN IN OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR. IF UNTREATED, CORROSION WILL EVENTUALLY SET IN.
PERFORMED AN EVASIVE MANEUVER TO AVOID OBSTACLE. DID NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH ANYTHING. ENGINE STALLED AND COULD NOT BE STARTED. WOULD NOT TURN OVER. VEHICLE JUMP STARTED AND RAN. NEXT DAY THE ENGINE BEGAN KNOCKING. TOOK TO SHOP WHERE THEY CONFIRMED OIL LEVEL GOOD BUT METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT CURRENT WITH SERVICE INTERVALS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN MUCH ON HIGHWAYS AND HAS 100+ THOUSAND MILES. CONCERNED THIS ENGINE MAY BE INVOLVED IN RECENT HYUNDAI ENGINE RECALL BUT NOT TRACKED BY VIN. VEHICLE WILL GO TO HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT DECEMBER 14, 2017.
WHEN USING BREAKS IT CAUSES BULB SOCKET TO MELT HOUSING, ETC AND BREAK LIGHT STOPS WORKING OVER AND OVER . THE REAR BREAK LIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT AND MELTING INSIDE THE SOCKET. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE WHOLE SOCKET BECAUSE THE BULB JUST MELTS AND YOU CAN NOT REMOVE. IM AFRAID MY CAR IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE.

THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND DIED ON THE FREEWAY. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THESE ENGINES HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND IT WAS CAUSED BY SHAVINGS OF METAL IN THE OIL PAN AND A BENT BEARING.

DRIVING DOWN ROAD SUDDENLY STALLED AND WOULD NOT CRANK BACK AND REPLACED BATTERY STILL NOTHING HAD SHOP CHECK IT OUT AND SEEMS MOTOR HAS LOCKED
SEVERE CLUNK FROM STEERING COLUMN. WHEN THE WHEEL IS INITIALLY TURNS, THERE IS A SHORT AMOUNT OF "PLAY" BEFORE A LOUD CLUNK CAN BE HEARD. THIS IS ALSO HEARD GOING OVER BUMPS. I FEEL THIS MAY BE SOMETHING COMING LOOSE AND CAN LEAD TO PROBLEMS WITH STEERING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO POTAMKIN HYUNDAI (6200 NW 167TH ST, MIAMI, FL) AND REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE RECALL REQUIRED THEM TO CHANGE THE DIP STICK, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO SLUDGE BEING IN THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE HAD TWO FAULTY VALVES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, JUST THE OIL CONTROL VALVE WAS CHANGED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,500.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RECEIVED A JUMP START. AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. MONTHS AGO I HAD A BURNED OUT TAIL LIGHT AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE - THE HOUSING WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FROM THE TAIL LIGHT - TURNED OUT IT WAS THE LEFT ONE, SO DIDN'T FOLLOW UP. THE RIGHT BULB BURNED OUT APPARENTLY TODAY - TOOK 30 MINUTES TO LOOSEN THE HOUSING TO FIND A BLACKENED BULB(ALWAYS LIKE THAT) AND THE BULB MELTED INTO THE HOUSING. THE BULB BASE WAS ADHERED TO THE HOUSING AND THE HOUSING CRACKED AND WILL NOT HOLD A BULB. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP FOR HOPEFUL WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS. ALL LIGHTS ON THIS CAR AND MY 2006 HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY SIX MONTHS OR SO - THIS IS A KNOWN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH SONATAS THAT HYUNDAI HAS NEVER ADDRESSED. MY LEFT FRONT LOW BEAM NEARLY EXPLODIED WHEN I REPLACED ITAND IT WAS TOO HOT TO EVEN TOUCH AND IS NOW DIM - THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE LIGHTING WIRING IN THESE CARS AND AS THEY ARE A SAFETY ISSUE, AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL IS APPROPRIATE. WORK ON THESE OARTS IS TOO EXPENSIVE AND GIVEN EVEN THE SMALL NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE - IT IS CLEAR THERE'S AN ISSUE - SINCE THE YEAR MODEL IS RELATIVELY NEW, PERHAPS MANY HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER THE 50,000 MILE WARRANTY.I AM TAKING MY 60000 ,MILEAGE CAR TO WERNER HYUNDAI IN TALLAHASSEE AND FULLY EXPECT REPAIR OF BOTH TAIL LIGHTS UNDER THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY.
I HAVE NOW REPLACED THE HOUSING REAR BRAKE LIGHT UNIT 3 TIMES DUE TO SHORTING OUT. THE MOST RECENT SHORT HAS CAUSED THE HOUSING UNIT TO MELT CAUSING A REPLACEMENT OF JUST THE BULB NOT AN OPTION. THE TAG LIGHTS TURN OFF AND ON AND APPEAR SOMETIMES TO BE BURNT OUT. THIS IS ALSO A SHORT/WIRING ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR A TRUNK FIRE AS THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER AS A WARNING TO GET THE LIGHTS REPLACED. ALSO, THE SPOILER ON THE VEHICLE HAS NOT ONLY CRACKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH BUT IS ALSO PEELING DUE TO COATING ISSUES. ONLY THE SPOILER ON THE CAR IS THE PROBLEM.

TWO RECALLS CAME UP AND ON ONE IT STATES NO REMEDY FOR THE SEAT BELTS AND NEITHER ONE HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF, WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE ME AT AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO, I PAID CASH MONEY FOR THIS CAR AND ONLY TWO DAYS THIS SHOWS UP, CAN THE CAR DEALER BE HELD RESPONSIBLE?

2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE OIL COOLER. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE METAL SHAVING FOUND IN THE SUM PAN AND OIL COOLANT MIXING IN THE RADIATOR. ON A SEPERATE OCCASION ENGINE OIL WAS FOUND IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM. ANOTHER, OCCASION OIL WAS AGAIN ENTERING THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER. THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT STILL EXPERIENCED FAILURES. *JS
WAS AT A REPAIR SHOP LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO LOOK INTO A RECALL FOR MY STEERING WHEEL. IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN ADJUSTED OR WHEN WHEEL TURNED LIKE A CLUNK NOISE. WHEN I CHECKED MY VIN # IT SHOWED NO RECALL. SO NOW I' AM A BIT CONCERNED THAT MAYBE MY VIN, MAKE AND MODEL DIDN'T SHOW AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL BUT IS AFFECTED. THANK YOU

MY STEERING WHEELED LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS TURNING TO THE RIGHT TO GET OVER AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT LOCKED WHILE GOING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. I WAS NOT ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BEFORE I WRECKED. WHEN THE OFFICER ARRIVED ON SEEN HE COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED. BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AT LEAST 2 A MONTH I HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR. . THE LIGHT SOCKETS HAVE MELTED TO THE ACTUAL BULBS. THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. AND WHEN THE CENTER LIGHT IS ON MY CAR LOSSES SPEED ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. TO GET THE CENTER LIGHT TO GO OUT I HAVE TO TAP THE TAIL LIGHT. I HAVE A HARD TIME REPLACING THE BULB BECAUSE IT BE MELTED INTO THE HOLDER LAST WEEK WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WHILE PRESSING GAS AND WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED UNTIL I LET OFF THE GAS AND THE GAS AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. IT CONCERNS ME THAT THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.
MY ENGINE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON AND STALLING AS IF IT DO NOT WANT TO GO, I REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID ITS NOTHING BUT A SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M NOT SURE WHY THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT WHEN THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH MY ENGINE
