THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.

ABOUT A WEEK AGO I WAS DRIVING HOME ON MY LUNCH BREAK AND WAS HEADING DOWN MAIN STREET IN SAUGUS, MA DRIVING ABOUT 35MPH. I CAME TO THE END OF THE ROAD, AND AS THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW, I PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN AND COME TO A STOP. AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN MY BRAKES LOCKED UP, AND I COULDN'T STOP. THE ABS LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE IN MY DASH. THE BRAKES ENDED UP "KICKING IN" THANKFULLY ALLOWING ME TO STOP IN TIME. THE SAME DAY, AS I WAS DRIVING BACK TO WORK, I WAS GOING 15 MPH BY WAKEFIELD HIGH SCHOOL, AND I WENT TO GO BRAKE, AND I COULDN'T STOP. ABS SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS KICKING IN, BUT NO ILLUMINATION, AND THANKFULLY STOPPED IN TIME BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THAT FOLLOWING WEEKEND, SAME THING HAPPENED PULLING OFF OF MY STREET, AND I COULDN'T STOP AT THE STOP SIGN, AND INSTEAD, SKIDDED DOWN THE HILL AND STOPPED ABOUT 2 FEET PASSED THE STOP SIGN. NO ILLUMINATION. IT FEELS LIKE YOUR SLIDING DOWN AN ICY HILL AND THE ABS KICKS IN, BUT THE LIGHT DOESN'T TURN ON WARNING ME. IT LITERALLY JUST WORKS WHEN IT WANTS AND IT'S EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND SCARY. THE LAST TIME I DROVE IT WAS THIS MONDAY, AND WHEN BRAKING, I COULDN'T STOP RIGHT AWAY, ABS KICKS IN, NO ILLUMINATION, AND MY HEART IN MY THROAT. WHEN READING ON WHAT WAS GOING ON THAT NIGHT, I FOUND THAT THE 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR ABS MALFUNCTIONS DURING MAY 28TH 2014 TO AUGUST 21ST, 2015 WHERE HYUNDAI RECALLED OVER 65,000 VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FOLLOWING: " IN THE EVENT OF AN ABS MALFUNCTION, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE, BUT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT ILLUMINATE. SINCE THE VEHICLES HAVE ABS MALFUNCTION LIGHTS THAT DO NOT ILLUMINATE, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NUMBER 135, "LIGHT VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEMS." I SINCERELY FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE IS ALSO AFFECTED AND SHOULD BE HONORED BY THIS RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I TOOK MY CAR TO WIN HYUNDAI IN EL MONTE, CA FOR RECALL CAMPAIGN 162. ON 9/16/17. I WAS TOLD IT WAS COMPLETE, AND RECEIVED IT BACK WITH OTHER PROBLEMS AND ATTEMPTS TO "UPSELL" ME. IT APPEARS THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT DONE. I SENT AN EMAIL TO HYUNDAI CORPORATE AND TO THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL BACK FROM CORPORATE INSTRUCTING ME TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. NO RESPONSE YET FROM DEALERSHIP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETEREMINED THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE ENGINE, NO OIL WAS GETTING TO THE GASKETS AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBERS: 10319133 AND 423103. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED, WHO CAME TO THE VEHICLES LOCATION AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 82,000.

MY 2013 SONATA LIMITED MAKES LIKE A KNOCKING NOISE. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL BUT THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. A FEW DAYS BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP FOR THE RECALL MY RADIO STARTED MAKING A NOISE LIKE AN EMERGENCY BROADCAST AND THE RADIO DISPLAY SAID SERVICE ENGINE. I TOLD THE DEALER WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY SAID WE NEVER HEARD ARE SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE AS IF I WAS TELLING THEM A LIE. IT MAKES THE NOISE DRIVING AND SITTING STILL. AND THE CAR ALSO STALLS AND SOUNDS AS IF IT'S ABOUT TO TURN OFF
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HWY, CAJALCO RD. IN RIVERSIDE COUNTY CALIFORNIA DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH SUDDENLY THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER AND STALLS OUT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER START. I CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVELS WHERE NORMAL. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER AND I AM WAITING HYUNDAI RESPONSE TO HOW THIS WILL BE FIXED.
MY BREAKS LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING OUT SINCE JAN 2017 CONSTANTLY. THE HOUSING FOR THE BULB MELTS IT IS GOING TO BE A MAJOR FIX. I WAS AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE AND SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME CAR CAME IN TWO DAYS AGO WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS.

BOTH TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES PARTIALLY MELTED FROM THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB OVERHEATING. THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB ITSELF WAS MELTED AND FUSED INTO THE SOCKET HOUSING IT. THE SOCKET WAS BLACKENED FROM OVERHEATING. IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. I REPLACED BOTH TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES SINCE THE PLASTIC WAS PARTIALLY MELTED AND BECAME DEFORMED. THE ISSUE WAS LIKELY AN ONGOING PROBLEM WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND IN MOTION. THERE MAY BE AN ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEM AS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE.
THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS, WHEN YOU PRESS THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS IT MAY STAY ON EVEN THOUGH YOU HIT CANCEL. IF YOU HIT THE REDUCE SPEED BUTTON, IT MAY CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL, SPEED IT UP, OR REDUCE SPEED. ALSO, THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED NOTIFICATION RANDOMLY TURNS ON. IT APPEARS THAT SOME WIRING RUNNING ON THE TOP MIDDLE OF THE STEERING WHEEL, DIRECTLY UNDER THE AIRBAG, IS CROWDED OR JUST MALFUNCTIONING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SET OR ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A REGULAR OIL CHANGE AT JIFFY LUBE IN ROSBERG, OREGON, THE MECHANIC NOTICED A LOT OF METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL PAN. THE MECHANIC SHOWED THE CONTACT THE OIL PAN AND GAVE HER THE OPTION OF HAVING THE OIL SYSTEM FLUSHED WITH FAKE OIL. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BUTLER HYUNDAI IN MEDFORD, OREGON FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL WAS CLEAN AND THERE WERE NO TRACES OF METAL SHAVINGS; THEREFORE, THERE WAS NO NEED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE). THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR THE RECALL ON 4/14/17. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

2013 SONATA. TAIL-LIGHT HOUSING IS MELTED & DISTORTED FROM HEAT OF ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT (KOREAN MADE) BRAKE LIGHT BULB. SOCKET FOR BRAKE LIGHT BULB CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM MELTED TAIL-LIGHT HOUSING TO REPLACE BURNED OUT BULB. FIRST BRAKE LIGHT BULB FAILURE OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2017, WHEN MELTED/DISTORTED HOUSING WAS FIRST DETECTED. BOTH LH AND RH TAIL-LIGHT HOUSINGS WERE FOUND TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T LIMITED 2013 SEDAN HAS A LOSE STIRRING WHEEL - WHICH CAUSES WANDERING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND VICE VERSA AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS - THE DRIVER HAS TO CONSTANTLY KEEP ADJUSTING THE CAR WHICH IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT ALSO CAUSES FATIGUE ESPECIALLY ON LONG ROUTES. MANY HAVE COMPLAINED ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT HYUNDAI IS DODGING THE ISSUE BY SAYING ITS AS PER SPECS OR YOU AREN'T USED TO POWER/ELECTRONIC STIRRING. [THE CAR WILL NOT MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE YOU CAN BE HOLDING THE WHEEL WITH ALL MIGHT OR LET GO AND SEE IT WANDER TO ONE SIDE EVEN WITHOUT NEEDING WHEEL ALIGNMENT] THE SHOCKS ARE ALSO TOO HARD ON THE CAR RESULTING IN A ROUGH/BUMPY RIDE
ENGINE SEIZING UP DRIVING BACK FROM VISITING A FRIEND IN THE NEXT TOWN. I LOST ENGINE POWER ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF THE ROAD AND WITH THAT POWER STEERING ABILITY WAS LOST AS WELL. IT WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY BUT WAS GRATEFUL IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WITH A LOT OF VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. I COASTED TO A STOP ALONG SIDE THE ROAD (NEAR AN ACCESS ROAD (A RELATIVELY DANGEROUS PLACE TO PARK) BUT AT THE BEST PLACE I COULD FIND WITH ONLY A FEW SECONDS TO MAKE A DECISION. I DID CALL THE LOCAL POLICE WHO CAME TO AID ME IN MAINTAINING A SAFE ZONE FOR ME AND MY CAR. MY LOCAL DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM SEEM TO NOT BE IN MUCH OF A HURRY TO GET MY CAR FIXED. THE ENGINE HESITATES AND WE TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER FOR THE RECALL #162 FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. THEY CHECKED THE ENGINE WITH A STETHOSCOPE AND FOUND NO DEBRIS ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN. BUT ACCORDING TO THE LADY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SHE STATED THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SEEN IN ENGINES WITH OVER 100,000 MILES AND THAT IS WHY THE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 120,000 MILES. THIS MAKE ME VERY UNEASY BECAUSE IT IS MAKES ME FEEL THAT SHE IS SAYING THAT IT IS STILL GOING TO HAPPEN BUT NOT UNTIL THE ENGINE HAS OVER 100,000 MILES. SO IT IS NOT A MATTER OF "IF" JUST A MATTER OF "WHEN" AND I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS FAIR THAT I MAY BE AT RISK OF BEING IN AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS MY CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE. I TOLD THEM THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND THEY DON'T CARE. I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE NOISE, AND ASKED THEM WHAT THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY OWN RENTAL CAR UNTIL THEY THE APPOINTMENT DATE, WHICH IS [ ], EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS UNDER RECALL AND MAKING A NOISE LIKE THE BEARING IS ALREADY BRAKING. MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE JULY 22, 2017. THE PROBLEM CAN BE BEST DESCRIBED AS MY CAR REACTING AS IF I WAS FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL WHEN I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH. THE CAR WOULD REV BETWEEN 3- 4 RPM WHILE ACCELERATING SLIGHTLY AT SLOWER SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY DIAGNOSED IT AS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. AT THE TIME I HAD JUST UNDER 139,000 MILES ON THE CAR. SEVEN MONTHS LATER, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY OF THE DOCUMENTATION ON WHAT HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED ON MY VEHICLE BUT I'VE BEEN TOLD THE FOLLOWING HAS OCCURRED TO NO AVAIL: 'TWO REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSIONS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED 'THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) RESET AND REPROGRAMMED MANUALLY 'A NEW ECU WAS INSTALLED DUE TO THE ORIGINAL ECU BEING A CALIFORNIA STATE COMPLIANT COMPUTER NOT MATCHING THE 48 STATE PARTS OF THE REST OF MY VEHICLE. 'SEVERAL MAPPING SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 'UNSPECIFIED BRACKETS 'SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVE LOOKED AT THE CAR 'HYUNDAI MOTOR CORP HAS ALSO FLOWN AN ENGINEER OUT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE IT HAS BECOME CLEAR TO ME AFTER PURCHASING A NEW 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA AND FOLLOWING THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE THAT HYUNDAI IS NOT CAPABLE OF DIAGNOSING OR FIXING THE PROBLEM. HELLO: BEGINNING IN THE SUMMER OF 2017, WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA WILL OCCASSIONALLY SMELL LIKE BURNING WIRES, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE SMELL COULD NEVER BE DETERMINED. IT SEEMS TO BE STRONGEST ON REALLY HOT DAYS WHEN THE AC IS RUNNING. I RECENTLY SAW AN ARTICLE THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND SOME CARS HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE AS A RESULT OF THE ISSUES AND I REALIZED THAT THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING CAUSING THIS AND I NEEDED TO REPORT.
TRANSMISSION WAS JUMPING GEARS WHEN SPEEDING UP AND SLOWING DOWN. THIS WAS CONCERNING ESPECIALLY WHEN COMING TO STOPS AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE SENSOR WAS FOUND TO BE SHORTED AND WAS REPLACED AT HYUNDAI DEALER.
GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 75 MPH AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL LIGHT ALONG WITH AN EPS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. NO OTHER LIGHTS WERE ON BEFORE THAT. CAME TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK BACK UP. HAD THE CAR TOWED HOUR AND HALF BACK HOME AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED UP. IT DID NOT GIVE ANY KIND OF WARNING AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO START AT ALL SINCE. I LEARNED ABOUT THE RECALL AND TOWED THE CAR TO HYUNDAI 7/21/17, EVEN THOUGH I NEVER GOT NOTIFICATION OF A POSSIBLE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. APPARENTLY THEY HAD 5 RECALLS LISTED UNDER MY VEHICLE, AND I HAD ONLY GOTTEN A NOTIFICATION FOR ONE, WHICH WAS THE SHIFT CABLE ISSUE. STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM HYUNDAI
STEERING COUPLING IS WORN OUT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES.

CAR KEY WILL GET STUCK AT IGNITION DUE THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SHIFTER MALFUNCTION. THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SHIFTER HAS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT LOCKS THE KEY IN WHILE THE CAR IS OUT OF "PARK", BUT WHEN IT IS MALFUNCTIONING, IT WILL NOT RELEASE THE KEY AT ALL. DRIVERS WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT LEAVE CAR KEY IN THE CAR'S IGNITION AND IT CAUSES HAZARDS TO MINORS OR CHILD IN THE HOUSE OR ON THE STREETS BECAUSE KEY CAN STILL START THE CAR WITHOUT PROBLEM, ALSO DOORS CAN NOT BE LOCKED WHEN THE KEY IS STUCK IN IGNITION. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING A FEW TIMES, BUT HYUNDAI REFUSED TO ADMIT MANUFACTURER'S PART DEFECT. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND SEEKING FOR HELP ONLINE OR FROM YOUTUBE. IT IS NOT SAFE FOR DRIVERS WITH KIDS. PLEASE HELP.
CAR SHAKES A LITTLE BIT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE PROBLEM IS A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. TYPICALLY IN PARKING LOTS AT SLOWER SPEEDS. DO NOT HEAR THE POPPING WHEN DRIVING EVER. YOU CAN ALSO SIT IN THE CAR WITH THE CAR RUNNING, TURN THE WHEEL EITHER DIRECTION AND WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL BACK YOU CAN FEEL AND HEAR THE POPPING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND CONTINUE GOING BACK AND FORTH PRODUCING THE POPPING NOISE AND VIBRATION WITH EVERY TURN OF THE WHEEL. HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED AT PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE INNER TIE RODS WERE REPLACED. DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE CAR HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED AT 90000 MILES RELATED TO ANOTHER RECALL. CHARGED ME 400 DOLLARS FOR A NEW STARTER AT THAT TIME WHEN NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE STARTER PRIOR TO THE ENGINE SEIZING. THE CAR NOW HAS 99900 MILES ON IT, BUT THE POPPING NOISE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE 94000 MILES. ONE MECHANIC SAYS IT IS RACK AND PINION ANOTHER IS SAYING EPS NEEDS REPLACED. I AM CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW BUT BOTH ARE COSTLY REPAIRS AND A SAFETY ISSUE. NOW THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON.

THERE IS AND HAS BEEN A VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. WHEN ON THE FREEWAY, I MUST DRIVE UNDER 60 MPH TO AVOID THE NOISE. IF THERE IS A DIP IN THE ROAD OR A SPEED BUMP IT RATTLES LOUD. THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT SHAKE, SO IT ISN'T AFFECTING MY DRIVING, BUT VERY DISTURBING AND EMBARRASSING. THE LIGHTING,THERE IS A SHORT. I'M CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE OR TIGHTENED EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE THAT WORKS AT KRAGEN WHO ALSO HAS A SONATA AND HE SAID HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM UNTIL HE ORDERED A $40.00 CASING. WHEN HE REPLACED MY LIGHTS, HE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE BULB BY TWISTING. HE HAD TO BRAKE IT BECAUSE IT HAD MELTED. I HAVE NOT ORDERED IT YET, BUT HE DUCKED TAPED IT IN PLACE AND I STILL HAVE THE ISSUES. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS. I'M AN UBER DRIVER AND I AM TRYING TO KEEP MY CAR SAFE AND IN GREAT CONDITION, BUT IT IS DISTURBING WHEN SOMEONE TELL ME MY LIGHTS ARE OUT.
"ENGINE RECALL", MY CAR HAS ONLY 66,687 MILES ON IT, I HAVE DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED WITH THE DEALERSHIP, IT IS CONSUMING 1 1/2 OR MORE QUARTS OF ENGINE OIL PER 1000 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE THE CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY TOLD ME ITS NOT NORMAL, BUT THEY SAID IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. I HAVE NOT HAVE THE KNOCKING NOISE, BUT ISN'T THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS THAT CAN GET THE CAR TO DO THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON NEITHER THE OIL LIGHT.
THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER AS TO INTERFERE WITH EACH OTHER. SPECIFICALLY, AS ONE COMES TO A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SO CLOSE TO THE ACCELERATOR BOTH LATERALLY AND VERTICALLY, THAT THE OPERATORS FOOT MAY HIT BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME JUST BEFORE COMING TO A STOP, CAUSING AN UNINTENDED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER, OCCUPANTS, PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLES OR ITEMS IN THE PATH OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAS 4 SUCH INCIDENTS, ONE INVOLVING A REAR END BUMP. THE HYUNDAI DEALER INSPECTED THE CAR FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND FOUND NOTHING AND DISMISSED THE CONCERN. HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE ERIN THOMPSON STATED " I DID NOT DESIGN THE CAR, IT OPERATES AS DESIGNED AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU". FURTHER, SHE STATED "I WILL NOT SAY IT AGAIN" WHEN I TRIED TO OFFER CLARIFICATION OF THE ISSUE. LOOKING UNDER THE CAR, I SAW 2 LARGE STREAMS OF OIL COMING FROM THE FRONT (PASSENGER SIDE, TRAVERSE MOUNTED) ENGINE (2.0 TURBO). ATTACHED PHOTOS ARE TAKEN SHORTLY AFTER OF THE OIL SLICK UNDER THE CAR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY DISPATCHED A TOW TRUCK AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER (JUNE 27TH, APPROX 3:45 PM CST, ARRIVED AT DEALER 6:30 PM). I JUST CALLED THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS FOUND TO "HAVE A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE" THAT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE OTHER RECALL NOTICES. HE STATED THEIR WAS A BRAND NEW RECALL THAT JUST CAME OUT AFTER MY SERVICE DETAILING HOW TO INSPECT THE ENGINE FOR THIS NEW DEFECT. HE STATED THEY USED A MICROPHONE TO CHECK THE ENGINE SOUNDS TO DETECT IT. HE ALSO STATED SEVERAL OTHER CARS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE.
