ENGINE BEGAN TO KNOCK THEN STALLED SHORTLY THEREAFTER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN A 75 MPH ZONE. ENGINE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATION, ALTHOUGH IT HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE FOR THE 60K MILE SERVICE EARLIER THAT MORNING.
THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT IN MY CAR, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. MY BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING. I HAVE REPLACED THEM AT LEAST 10 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I CONSULTED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAD A DEFECT. THE BRAKE LIGHT SOCKET OVERHEATED AND MELTED AND CAUSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO FAIL. I CHECKED THE SOCKET, AND IT IS MELTED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A BRAKE SENSOR PROBLEM. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE WHOLE BRAKE/TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY CONCERN. I ONLY LEARN THAT MY LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING WHEN SOMEONE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, USUALLY SOMEONE DRIVING BEHIND ME, LETS ME KNOW. ALSO, THE MELTED SOCKET WOULD SEEM TO BE A REAL FIRE HAZARD.
WHEN DRIVING 45 MINUTES TO A HOUR THE ENGINE HEAT POURS INSIDE OF CAR FROM LEG AREA UP LIKE THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN IN A 85 DEGREE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE. WHILE USING TURN SIGNALS MOST OF THE TIME AFTER SIGNALING FOR A LEFT TURN TO CHANGE LANES I MANUALLY TURN OFF SIGNAL IT CONTINUES TO RIGHT BACK TO LEFT UNTIL TRYING TO TURN IT OFF AT LEAST 5X'S. DURING DRIVING THE CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN IF I AM NOT ACCELERATING INA 35 MPHIL AREA
IT STARTED AS A CLICKING WHEN TURNING AND THEN A THUMPING. COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS A RECALL ON VEHICLES IN 2011 BUT NOT 2013, WHICH IS HORRIBLE BECAUSE IT IS AFFECTING MY CAR NOW.
TAPPING NOISE INSIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD ON THE INITIAL START ALSO ENGINE SHAKING ONLY HAS 43000 MILES ON THE CAR ODOMETER READING
AT 124,000 MILES (4000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT), MY CAR STARTED BURNING ABOUT ONE QUART AFTER EACH 1000 MILES DRIVEN. I HAVE CHANGED MY OIL RELIGIOUSLY AFTER EVERY 3,000 - 5,000 MILES. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAD BURNED MOST OF ITS OIL AT A 3,000 MILE OIL CHANGE. HE ALSO SAID THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED ON THIS ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING AT 55MPH THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT HAD AN INTERNAL NOISE. HAD IT TAKEN TO GARAGE TO BE TOLD THE WRIST PIN BROKE ON CYLINDER 1 CAUSING INTERNAL DAMAGE AND ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $4500 FOR A USED ENGINE. HAVE 129000 MILE WHICH ARE 65% ALL HIGHWAY MILES. HYUNDAI SENT NOTICE OF INTERNAL ENGINE ISSUES RIGHT AFTER THE CAR HIT 120000 MILES. INTERESTING TIMING. RECOMMEND NHTSA FORCE HYUNDAI TO MAKE THESE ISSUE RIGHT WITH OWNERS.
OVER THE LAST 24 MONTHS MY DASHBOARD, PARKING, DOME, AND /OR REAR LIGHTS HAVE GONE ON BY THEMSELVES. IT HAS HAPPEN MORE THAN 12 TIMES THE CAR WAS OFF AND IT HAPPENS SOMETIMES DURING THE DAY, SOMETIMES AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC LOT OR IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO SHUT LIGHT OFF USING THE REMOTE. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND HAD NO SUGGESTIONS. THIS IS A SAFETY BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT START A NUMBER OF TIMES AND SERVICE HAD TO BE CALLED. PLEASE ADVISE IF THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND IF YOU CAN BE OF HELP TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR
WITH THE HONDA SONATA THE DOOR LIGHTS WANT GO OFF ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SIDE. WITH THIS PROBLEMS IN MIND I HAVE TO KEEP BUYING BATTERY BECAUSE IT KEEP KILLING THE BATTERY. I KEEP APPLYING TAPE ON THE KNOB TO KEEP THE LIGHT FROM STAYING ON BUT THAT'S NOT WORKING. I KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT BECAUSE ITS ON BOTH DOORS.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN SEPTEMBER 2012. WITHIN DAYS, WE STARTED TO NOTICE RUST SPOTS ON THE BODY OF THE CAR THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM BRAKE DUST. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUE, AND OUR CONCERN THAT IT WOULD DAMAGE THE CLEAR COAT OR PAINT. DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. WE STARTED TO NOTICE BRAKE NOISE. MAY 16, 2013; AT 6,400 MILES, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, AND AGAIN COMPLAINED OF GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING; DEALER INSPECTED BRAKES AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AUGUST 9, 2013; 7,589 MILES. TOOK CAR IN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, AGAIN COMPLAINED ABOUT BRAKE NOISE; DEALER INSPECTED BRAKES AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. JUNE 16, 2014; 16,176 MILES. TOOK CAR IN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, AGAIN COMPLAINED ABOUT BRAKES, DEALER INSPECTED BRAKES AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. MAY 10, 2016; 37,247 MILES. HEARD SEVERE GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM BRAKES, TOOK TO DEALER TO INSPECT. I ASKED A MECHANIC TO RIDE WITH ME WHILE I DROVE TO MAKE SURE THEY HEARD THE NOISE, AND MECHANIC DID HEAR IT. DEALER KEPT CAR FOR 7 DAYS, INSPECTED BRAKES, AND SAID COULD NOT REPLICATE NOISE. AUGUST 31, 2016, 40,400 MILES. HEARD SEVERE GRINDING NOISE ON BRAKES AGAIN, TOOK TO DEALER, AGAIN HAD DEALER REP LISTEN TO NOISE. DEALER INSPECTED THE BRAKES, AND STATED THERE WAS SEVERE WEAR ON THE INSIDE BRAKE PADS, THAT HAD DAMAGED THE ROTORS TO THE POINT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN PREMATURELY, AND THE DEALER FAILED TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE WITH BRAKING SYSTEM UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM FROM THE BEGINNING, AND WE DOCUMENTED IT AT THE DEALER, WHERE WE HAD ALL SERVICE DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE MAKING A TURN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, AN ABNORMAL THUMPING SOUND EMITTED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. WE WERE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES AN HOUR THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN THE RED LIGHT AND HIT US AT APPROXIMATELY 45+ MILES AN HOUR. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WERE DEPLOYED. DURING THIS TIME, THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SEAT BELT LOCKED AS INTENDED. THE PASSENGER SEATBELT FAILED AT THE POINT WHERE THE LAP RESTRAINT ATTACHES TO THE CAR RUNNING BOARD AND WILL NOT RE-ATTACH TO THE VEHICLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE PASSENGER THAT WAS WEARING THE FAILED SEAT BELT DURING THE ACCIDENT WAS 110LBS WHILE THE DRIVER WAS 270LBS. THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT FUNCTIONED AS INTENDED WHILE THE PASSENGERS DETACHED.
FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS MY STEERING WHEEL IS MAKING A LOUD CLICKING SOUND WHENEVER I MOVE SLIGHTLY IT EVEN DOES IT WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
DRIVING AND CAR JUST LOST POWER. TOWED TO DEALER TOLD ENGINE SEIZED AND NO COVERED DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE.
RADIO VOLUME CONTROL BUTTON ON STEERING COLUMN EITHER DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, MUTES THE RADIO OR CAUSE THE "PLEASE SAY A COMMAND" PROMPT TO COME ON. THE PLEASE SAVE A COMMAND PROMPT BUTTON IS TWO BUTTON DOWNS FROM THE VOLUME CONTROL BUTTON. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE WEEK. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A PATTERN. THIS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE OWNING THE CAR.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND SHAKES WHEN YOU GO PAST 60 MPH
STEERING DEVICE COUPLING LOOSE OR DEFECTIVE SHOULD BE REPLACED AS A DEFECTIVE PART PER LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL ON THE SONATAS AS THE PROBLEM IS GETTING MORE COMMON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
STEERING COUPLER WORE OUT, MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT I WOULD HAVE LOST STEERING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HYUNDAI SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR ANY OWNER WHO HAS HAD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR.
ON 8/1/2016, I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS ON A CITY STREET AT 5:00AM. THE POSTED SPEED WAS 35 MPH, I WAS HEADED WESTBOUND ON 79TH ST IN CHICAGO ILLINOIS AND THE OTHER CAR WAS HEADED EASTBOUND. THE OTHER CAR CAME OVER INTO MY LANE OF TRAFFIC, COMING HEAD ON TO ME, I STARTED BLOWING MY HORN TRYING TO GET HIS ATTENTION TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. AFTER I SAW THAT HE WAS NOT TRYING TO CHANGE HIS COURSE OF DIRECTION I MOVE SLIGHTLY TOWARD MY RIGHT TO AVOID THE COLLISION, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE OTHER VEHICLE HIT ME STARTING ON THE DRIVER BACK SIDE, MY CAR WAS FORCED OVER THE CURB DUE TO THE IMPACT AND PUSHED ONTO THE SIDE WALK. BEING PUSHED ONTO THE SIDE WALK MY CAR SUSTAINED DAMAGE FROM HITTING A ROD IRON FENCE ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE AND DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER FRONT AS WELL, MY BACK BUMPER WAS TORN OFF AS WELL FROM THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. MY BUMPER WAS SEVERAL FEET AWAY FROM WHERE MY CAR WAS AT IT STAND POINT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED DUE TO THE DAMAGE IT HAD SUSTAINED, MY AXLES WERE BROKEN ON MY CAR AND THE OTHER INDIVIDUAL CAR AXLE APPEARED TO BE BROKEN AS WELL. THE INDIVIDUAL THAT HIT ME HIS AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED DUE TO THE DAMAGE AND MY AIRBAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED, MY VEHICLE SUSTAINED MORE VISIBLE DAMAGE MORE SO THEN THE OTHER VEHICLE,

DRIVING CAR ON A MAIN STREET WITH MY KIDS AND WITHOUT WARNING LIGHTS IN DASHBOARD COME ON AND CAR BEGINS TO STALL. I TRY TOMOVE TO SIDE OF ROAD AND PARK AND CAR AS BEST I CAN ON THE SIDE. CAR TURNS OFF AND DOESN'T TURN BACK ON

THE SERVICE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND A NEW ENGINE WAS INSTALLED; HOWEVER, THE ISSUE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY, AND APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES INTO THE RIDE THE CAR STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65-70MPH WITHOUT A WARNING LIGHT OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR HESITATED WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO PASS ANOTHER CAR, OR IF I SLOWED DOWN IN TRAFFIC, IT STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 20 - 40MPH. WHEN I REACHED MY EXIT, AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT, THE GAS PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR JUST SO I COULD GET UP ENOUGH SPEED TO GO ACROSS THE LIGHT, AS WELL AS ACCELERATE SO THE CAR IN BACK ON ME COULD GO AS WELL. THE ENGINE WOULD HESITATE, AND WHEN IT DID FINALLY REACH THE RIGHT SPEED IT WAS STILL NOT A SMOOTH RIDE. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION, I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND TURNED IT BACK ON ABOUT 2 HRS LATER. THE CAR STARTED (WITH A LITTLE HESITATION IN THE ENGINE), ALTHOUGH IT STILL STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE PAST 20MPH. IT WAS ALSO HESITATING, AND FELT AS THOUGH IT WOULD STALL. I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC, ABOUT A 15 MINUTE TRIP ON LOCAL ROADS. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF UPHILL BATTLES, WHERE I COULD BARELY GET THE CAR UP THE HILL. MY MECHANIC CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY CODES FROM THE COMPUTER, AND THE CODE CAME BACK AS 'TURBO UNDER-BOOST'. THE TURBO CHARGE IS DEAD. I HAVE A TURBO CHARGED ENGINE. THEREFORE, SINCE THE TURBO BOOSTER IS DEAD, IT BASICALLY LEAVES THE ENGINE WITHOUT LITTLE POWER!
MY SUNROOF HAS EXPLODED TWICE IN THE PAST 18 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. SHORTLY AFTER, I REALIZED MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED WITH GLASS FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO SWERVE ONTO TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER LANES. OF COURSE, HYUNDAI SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE 2ND TIME WHICH HAPPENED YESTERDAY, I CAME TO WORK AND PARKED WHERE MY VEHICLE REMAINED ALL DAY. I EVEN STROLLED BY MY CAR DURING LUNCH AS I HOPPED INTO MY FRIEND'S VEHICLE AND SAW NO DAMAGE. MY CAR SITS IN MY ASSIGNED PARKING SPOT RIGHT OUTSIDE MY OFFICE WINDOW AT OUR LOCAL ARMORY. WHEN I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE LAST NIGHT AND DROVE OFF I COULD HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE DIRT/GRAVEL FROM THE TIRES BUT SOON REALIZED IT WAS GLASS FROM THE SUNROOF. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ALL DAY. NOW HYUNDAI IS TELLING ME THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES AGAIN. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
WHEN THE 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS IS DRIVEN OVER 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WANDERS LEFT AND RIGHT REQUIRING CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION. THE STEERING DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A CENTER. HAD THE DEALER CHANGE THE STEERING MODE SETTING FROM "SOFT" TO "SPORT" MODE WHICH I WAS CHARGED $66.00. THE CHANGE MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IS THE WAY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) IS AND I JUST HAVE TO GET USED TO IT. THE ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND FATIGUING TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE STEERING. I LOOKED DOWN TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION AND MY CAR DRIFTED INTO THE OTHER LANE. FROM MY RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE IT APPEARS HYUNDAI AND THE DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT WILL NOT ADDRESS A FIX. THE DEALER STATED THAT ABOUT 2% OF THE 700,000 2013 SONATAS MANUFACTURED HAVE THE ISSUE. IF THAT IS ACCURATE THAT WOULD BE ABOUT 14,000 CARS WITH THE ISSUE. THAT IS NOT INCLUDING THE OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT MADE A COMPLIANT. I THINK THERE IS A LOT MORE CARS WITH THE ISSUE. I HAVE FOLLOWED SONATAS DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND OBSERVED THE CAR WANDERING LEFT AND RIGHT WELL KNOWING THE DRIVER IS UNDER STRESS HAVING TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE STEERING. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH A FIX BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IF THAT HAS NOT HAPPENED ALREADY. HELP!!!
STEERING MAKES A CLICKING OR CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MAKING A TURN OR MAINTAINING PROPER LANE POSITION WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN MAKING A LOW SPEED TURN. ALSO THERE WAS TOO MUCH PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL. WHEN VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE SERVICE ADVISER SAID THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THE STEERING OF THE 2013 SONATA. COMPLETE FAILURE COULD CAUSE STEERING IN A CRISIS TO BE VERY DIFFICULT WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST. COMPONENT PART THAT FAILED WA FLEXIBLE COUPLING PN 56315-2K000-FFF. REPAIRS WERE MADE ON 7/14/2016 I FEEL THIS IS A UNSAFE CONDITION THAT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY HYUNDAI.
VEHICLE HAS 70000 MILES. BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS ARE BROKEN DUE TO CORROSION. FOUND ON INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP. VERY PREMATURE FAILURE . IF NOT FOUND COULD HAVE LED TO TIRE PUNCTURE AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE MANUFACTURER WOULD AUTHORIZE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE RECALL BEING ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY STEERING COUPLER IS DANADGED AND MY STEERING IS SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THIS DEFECT. HYUNDAI IS ASKING ME TO PAY $300 TO FIX IT. EVEN MY CAR IS JUST 3 YEARS OLD THEY ARE NOT COVERING THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY.

WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD THE STEERING COLUMN 'FROZE' AND BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER CORRECTLY WHILE GOING AROUND A SHARP LEFT HAND TURN. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO VEER INTO THE GUARD RAIL CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND SIDE OF THE CAR (PASSENGER SIDE). THE CAR REGAINED STEERING CAPABILITY AND WAS IMMEDIATELY PARKED IN AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT.

I RECEIVED A WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTIFICATION. BECAUSE OF MANUFACTURING PROCESS MISTAKE THERE IS A POTENTIAL OF A PREMATURE BEARING WEAR ON MY VEHICLE. A WORN CONNECTING ROD BEARING WILL PRODUCE A METALLIC, CYCLIC KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WHICH INCREASES IN FREQUENCY AS THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES. IF THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE DRIVEN WITH A WORN CONNECTING ROD BEARING, THE BEARING CAN FAIL, AND THE VEHICLE COULD STALL WHILE IN MOTION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. I DID ADDRESS IT TO THE DEALER AND REQUESTED A REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE IF MY CAR IS EFFECTED BY THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT, UNTIL THE ENGINE FAIL, OR A CRASH HAPPENS. SUCH EXPLANATION IS JUST NOT SATISFACTORY. HYUNDAI OFFERS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 120000 MILES. AFTER THAT ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TO KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED AND FACE THE POTENTIAL OF ENGINE FAILURE OR CRASH. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS ABOUT 5000. THAT WHOLE SITUATION FORCES ME TO SELL THE VEHICLE BEFORE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRES ( 120000 ). AS WELL AS TO TAKE CHANCES AS FAR MY SAFETY. EXTENDED WARRANTY IS JUST NOT ENOUGH IN THIS SITUATION.
