ENGINE MAKING NOISE AND TRYING TO STALL OUT. WORSE AFTER OIL CHANGE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP STATED METAL SAVINGS IN THE OIL PAN. CAR HAS APPROX. 42,000 MILES ON IT. HYUNDAI IS NOT HONORING WARRANTY BECAUSE WE CANNOT FIND A COUPLE OF OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS. WE HAVE SEVERAL SHOWING WE GOT OIL CHANGED. THEY JUST RECALLED 2011-2012 MODELS FOR METAL IN ENGINE. STATE PROBLEM FIXED IN APRIL 2012 MY CAR ASSEMBLED JUNE 2012. A LITTLE TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LOCKED UP. I HAD NO POWER AND LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COMING AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WITH NO PROBLEMS. ONCE I GOT STOPPED, I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK WHICH TOOK IT TO TEXOMA HYUNDAI IN SHERMAN, TEXAS. UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR WAS A LITTLE OVER 6,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. I THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS COVERED UP TO 100,000 MILES BUT SINCE I BOUGHT IT AS A SLIGHTLY USED CAR THE DEALER SAID IT WASN'T COVERED. I ENDED UP HAVING TO SPEND $4500 TO HAVE SOMEONE REBUILD MY MOTOR. UPON ASKING ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAD NO IDEA AND HAD NOT HAD THAT KIND OF THING HAPPEN BEFORE. WHILE MY ENGINE WAS BEING REBUILT I FOUND ON THE INTERNET THAT HYUNDAI SONATAS HAVE BEEN HAVING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MOTORS, SO THEY WEREN'T VERY TRUTHFUL WITH ME. THEY ACTUAL HAVE LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM FOR DEFECTIVE MOTORS WHICH USUALLY HAVE PROBLEMS BETWEEN 60,000 AND 90,000 MILES. MY CAR HAD 66,000 ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO THAT IS IN THAT TIME FRAME. I AM NOW OUT $4500 WITH I SUPPOSE NO RECOURSE WITHOUT HIRING A LAWYER WHICH COST ME MORE THAN THE REPAIRS. OF COURSE I THINK HYUNDAI KNOWS THAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SLIGHT HESITATION AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHILE BEING ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND OBSERVED A LOT OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
WHILE DRIVING APROX 30 MPH ENGINE STALLED.
THE STEERING IS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. SOUNDS RESEMBLES SOMETHING LOOSE IN THE STEERING COLUMN.
I RECIEVED AN OIL CHANGE AND ENGINE FLUSH ON 9/5/2015..THE CAR ACT AS IF IT WOULD CUT OFF AFTERWARDS...I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I HAD NO OIL SLUDGE AND METAL DEPRI IN THE ENGINE...I WAS THEN TOLD I DON'T QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE MY CAR IS A 2013 BUT I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AS THE RECALL.
THE CAR SENT ME AN EMAIL AND IT IS NOT MY CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE IT WAS NEW. ISN'T THIS A SEVERE SECURITY PROBLEM FOR THE REAL OWNER? NO ONE HAS EVER RESPONDED AT HYUDAI. I HAVE MADE CONTACT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER THE YEARS. I GUESS THEY DON'T CARE. IT SEEMS THAT THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY HAS NO CONCERNS WITH RESPECT TO PRIVACY. I HOPE MY NEXT NEW CAR HAS BETTER CONTROL OVER THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION. I WONDER IF ANYONE IN GOVERNMENT CARES?
THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS IT MAY STAY ON EVEN THOUGH YOU PUSH CANCEL., IF YOU PUSH THE REDUCE SPEED BUTTON, IT MAY CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL, SPEED IT UP, OR REDUCE SPEED. WHEN THIS OCCURS, TO GET THE CAR TO DISENGAGE THE CRUSE CONTROL YOU MUST ENGAGE THE BREAKS.
AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE I WANTED TO TURN THE VOLUME UP. AS I TRIED TO TURN UP THE VOLUME THE SYSTEM WOULD ACTUALLY TURN IT DOWN. ALSO, SO FAR THREE TIMES AS I ATTEMPTED TO TRY TO TURN THE VOLUME UP THE VOICE PROMPT COMMAND WOULD ASK FOR A COMMAND. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR AT ANY TIME TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED AND STARTING THE VEHICLE, AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNED. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,657. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENGINE WAS SPUTTERING AND THEN JUST QUIT. GOT IT RESTARTED LONG ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE ROADWAY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY STATED THERE WAS NO OIL AND THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AND THE TEMP GAUGE DID NOT SHOW THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING HOT OR ANYTHING. IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING.
I HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS BRAKE LIGHTS AND THEY KEEP GETTING MELTED AND BURNT OUT. IM NOT SURE IF ITS THE ELECTRICAL WIRING OR THE ACTUAL HOUSING OF THE BRAKE LIGHT ITSELF BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I SEE NUMEROUS OF THE SAME CARS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO DURING SUMMER MONTHS YOU CAN SMELL STRONG GAS FUMES THROUGHOUT THE CAR. AS IF I WAS DIRECTLY BREATHING IN GAS. ITS THAT BAD. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE VENTED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME, WHO GET DIZZY AND SICK. THIS IS WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED.
WAS RECENTLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 7/15/15 DRIVING MY HYUNDAI. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT A COMPLETE STOP IN THE EXIT LANE. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS GOING FREEWAY SPEED (60/65) AND I WAS REAR ENDED, PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, MY CAR SPUN AND I WAS HIT AGAIN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THROUGH ALL THIS, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS WENT OFF. I AM NOW RECOVERING FROM HITTING MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL, BACK AND NECK PROBLEMS.,SAFETY WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WE BOUGHT THE CAR. UPDATED 09/14/15*LJ
LOCKED UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE IN A CLEAR OPEN AREA AND PANORAMIC GLASS ROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED.
WE HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA (VIN #[XXX]). THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND OTHER FUNCTIONS CONTROLLED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL FOR MANY YEARS. THE CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND AGAIN IN JANUARY 2019. THE SAME ISSUES THAT LED TO THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACEMENT RECURRED TWO MONTHS AFTER THE LATEST REPLACEMENT. AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CLOCK SPRING FOR 2011-2013 SONATAS WAS ISSUED IN 2017. THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS SONATAS WITH AN SOP BEFORE JUNE 20, 2012. OUR CAR WAS PURCHASED IN LATE SEPTEMBER 2012 AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. GIVEN THE RECURRENT ISSUES WE HAVE HAD, WE A ARE ASKING THAT OUR VEHICLE BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHILE ON AN OUT-OF-STATE ROAD TRIP, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS ON A FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY COAST TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER, WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL. AFTER A LONG AND EXPENSIVE TOW HOME, THE LOCAL DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED. HYUNDAI REPLACED THE ENGINE AND TURBOCHARGER FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY WITH A REBUILT BLOCK AND NEW PISTONS, HEAD, AND TURBO. THEY DIDN'T EVEN QUESTION THE MAINTENANCE OR ASK FOR RECORDS, AND POINTED OUT THAT IT LOOKS VERY CLEAN UNDER THE VALVE COVER AND IN THE OIL PAN. I CHANGE THE OIL WITH SYNTHETIC EVERY 5000 MILES, WHICH PROBABLY HELPED. I WAS PREVIOUSLY PLANNING TO KEEP THIS CAR LONG-TERM, BUT NOW I THINK I MIGHT TRADE IT IN DURING THE COMING MONTHS DUE TO LONGEVITY CONCERNS. THIS SEEMS VERY SIMILAR TO PROBLEMS REPORTED FOR 2011 AND 2012 SONATAS, WHICH USE THE SAME THETA II ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH AND MY ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. I DRIFTED OFF OF THE ROAD AND CONTACTED HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER 3 BUSINESS DAYS OF NOT GETTING ANY ANSWERS ON THE PROBLEM FROM THE DEALERSHIP THEY FINALLY CALLED ME AND SAID THE ENGINE HAD "SLUDGE" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS A 2013 THAT I PURCHASED IN 10/2012 AND HAD 45,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE AND THE WARRANTY WAS DECLINED DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE (OIL CHANGES). I JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGED THE SAME DAY THAT THIS HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO AND A USED ENGINE WOULD COST $4,000+. I DECLINED THE SERVICE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT BOTH HYUNDAI AND THE DEALERSHIP IS AWFUL. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
1. WHEN EXIT THE STATIONARY VEHICLE, BEEPS AT ME. HAVE TO GET BACK IN, START ENGINE AND TURN OFF AGAIN BEFORE CAN EXIT WITHOUT THE BEEPING.??? HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. 2. STEERING - PULLS TO LEFT. REQUIRES CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION. DOES NOT NEED ALIGNMENT. VERY ANNOYING WHEN ON LONG DISTANT TRIPS...COULD BE DANGEROUS. 3. DRIVER'S SEAT HEATS UP AUTOMATICALLY. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE IN SUMMER TIME. HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT BY DEALER AT LEAST TWO TIMES AND THEY FIND NOTHING. STARTED HAVING ABOVE PROBLEMS AT APPROXIMATELY 30K MILES ON BRAND NEW VEHICLE. NOW HAVE 43K.
LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF. WHEN YOU TURN THE BRIGHTS ON IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AS THEY HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT NEITHER HAVE WORKED. THEY HAVE ALSO TRIED TO RESET THE LIGHTING SWITCH.... NONE WHICH HAVE WORKED I DRIVE MY CAR MAINLY IN THE DARK HOURS SO THIS PROBLEM HAD TO BE FIXED. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 OR 4 TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHIFTED THE GEARS INTO PARK. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND PREVENT THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. UPDATED 8/31/15*CN
KUMHO TIRES INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WEAR PREMATURELY. TIRES WERE WORN TO 4/32 AT 12,000 MILES. NEW TIRE WERE INSTALLED AND THE CAR HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED. WHILE THE ORIGINAL TIRE MAY MEET WHATEVER APPLICABLE STANDARDS EXIST THEY WERE INADEQUATE FOR THE 2013 SONATA.
TAKATA RECAL: FEMALE WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT WHERE THERE WAS AN APPARENT ISSUE WITH STEERING OR VEERING INTO THE LEFT LANE RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF FEMALE. NO OTHER VARIANTS WHERE ABLE TO BE FOUND DURING INVESTIGATION. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. CRASH REPORT DIV315049359. AFTER REVIEW OF A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS IN REFERENCE TO THE ISSUE I BEGAN REVIEWING THE CASE NOTES. THERE IS POTENTIAL THAT THE CRASH WAS DUE TO INABILITY TO STEER CORRECTLY OR THE CAR STEERING OVERRIDE SYSTEM IMPROPERLY CORRECTING TO THE LEFT. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION OR INFORMATION ON GETTING AN INVESTIGATION INITIATED IN REGARD TO THIS DEATH AND GENERAL ISSUE.
(KEYLESS ENTRY) THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY STARTS. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE CAR WILL TURN ON, BUT WILL NOT START. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES WILL LOCK. SOMETIMES AFTER A COUPLE TRIES, THE CAR WILL START. THERE HAS BEEN A FEW INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR HOURS AND HAD TO BE LEFT AT THE LOCATION, BUT WILL WORK THE NEXT DAY. THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR MOSTLY IN THE AFTERNOON, AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING OUT IN THE SUN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THERE HAS BEEN AN ATTEMPT TO JUMP THE CAR, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.
ON MAY 29, 2015 I WAS PULLING OUT FROM A SIDE ROAD ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING, THEN THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. THE BRAKES EVEN WENT TO THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO CARS COMING DOWN THE MAIN HIGHWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER IN CHATTANOOGA, TN. THE SERVICE GUY NAMED ANDY TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT MY OIL WAS LOW CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP, STATING THE OIL LOOKED LIKE SLUDGE! WE WERE UNABLE TO PRESENT EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF MAINTENANCE RECORD, SO WE WERE TOLD OUR WARRANTY WAS VOID. THE OIL HAD JUST BEEN CHANGED IN APRIL AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP OR "LOOK LIKE SLUDGE"!. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED ALMOST $6000.00 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR (WE DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY ACCESSIBLE). WHEN WE ARGUED ABOUT THE WARRANTY, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASKED US TO PAY $675.00 TO TEAR THE ENGINE DOWN. "IF" THEY FOUND A DEFECT IN THE MOTOR, IT STILL MIGHT NOT BE COVERED!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY BROTHERS HOME AND STILL SETS THERE TODAY ALL THE WHILE WE ARE STILL MAKING THE MONTHLY PAYMENT AND FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE ON A 2-YEAR OLD CAR THAT WE CAN'T DRIVE!!
THE ENGINE FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NO WARNING, NO ENGINE LIGHT, JUST A KNOCK. HYUNDAI IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE WARRANTY ON THIS LEASED VEHICLE. NO LOANER CAR, NO RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT AS PROMISED. THEY CLAIMED I NEGLECTED IT, EVEN AFTER I PRODUCED A FOLDER OF MAINTENANCE RECEIPTS. THEY GAVE THE BBB ARBITRATOR PICTURES OF A CRAPPY ENGINE AND AN OLD OIL FILTER THEY SAID WAS MINE. I TOLD THE ARBITRATOR ABOUT THE INVESTIGATIONS AND LAWSUITS FOR THE VERY SAME ISSUE AS MINE. I SAID THE ENGINE HAD A DEFECT AND THEY DENIED IT TO THE ARBITRATOR. (THEY KNEW) NOW I HAVE NO CAR (I AM DISABLED) AND I STILL MUST PAY MONTHLY LEASE FEE (ENDS 2016) AND THE VERY COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE I AM REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN. SO I CANNOT AFFORD A CAR AND IF I REPLACE THE ENGINE (5-7 THOUSAND) I AM RETURNING IT IN NOV. 2016 ANYWAY. I TOLD THE BBB AUTO LINE THAT I READ ABOUT HYUNDAI ENGINES SEIZING IN RECORD NUMBERS BACK IN JULY. NOBODY BOTHERED TO CHECK IT OUT AND I LOST. THE NYS ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC SCHNEIDERMAN HAS INVESTIGATED THE HYUNDAI DEALER THAT PULLED THIS FOR DISHONEST PRACTICES WITH CONSUMERS.
DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET HURT FOR HYUNDAI TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEMS. ARE THEY WAITING FOR THE CAR TO BE OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2013 SONATA. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN APRIL 2015 USED WITH LOW MILAGE FROM A DEALER. IT HAD ONLY 12,000 MILE WHEN I PURCHASED IT CASH. I REALIZED THE CAR HAD A PROBLEM THE FIRST WEEK AND TOOK IT BACK TO THEN FOR A RECALL THAT WAS NOT DONE AND ALSO TO HAVE THEN FIX WHAT EVER WAS WRONG WITH THE STEERING. WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP THE CAR THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING, THAT I NEEDED TO JUST GET USED TO IT. IT HAS BEEN BACK 2 TIME AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. I HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL ELECTRONIC STEERING SONATA'S NEWER AND NONE HAVE THE PROBLEM. IT IS DANGEROUS AND VERY TIRING WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HI WAYS. YOU HAVE TO KEEP OVER CORRECTING THE STEERING THAT KEEPS PULLING TO THE LEFT AND THEN STICKS YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY TUG SLIGHTLY ON THE WHEEL AND AFTER A FEW HOURS OF DRIVING YOUR ARM HURTS. I HAVE OWNED A HYUNDAI 2003 FOR YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. WHAT GOOD IS A 100 THOUSAND MILE WARRANTY IF THEY REFUSE TO FIX THINGS IT. I AM TAKING MY CAR TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR PERSON AND HAVE THE CAR DIAGNOSED. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP WITH THIS? I HAVE THE DEALERSHIP PAPERS SHOWING THE THREE TIMES I TOOK THE CAR. MY CAR REVVED TO BETWEEN 4 AND 6 THOUSAND RPMS WHEN I WAS PARKING IN MY WORK PARKING GARAGE. IN THE PROCESS I ENDED UP HITTING TWO SUVS AND DID OVER $5,500 IN DAMAGE TO MY CAR. DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, WE HEARD A CLICKING SOUND THEN A LOSS OF POWER, BUT IT CAME BACK AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THE NEXT THING THAT HAPPENED WAS A PUFF OF SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE, WHICH AT THAT TIME WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, AND THAT IT HAD GOOP IN THE OIL PAN. THE DEALER THEN SAID THAT THE RINGS ARE BURNT UP AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE HAD NO WARNING THAT THE ENGINE HAD NO OIL - NO WARNING LIGHTS STAYED ON. WE ALSO HAVE A BLUELINK REPORT THAT SAYS EVERYTHING IS OPERATING AS NORMAL. *TR

HAVE HAD ALIGNMENT CHECKED AT DEALER, NEW TIRES, ROTATED TIRES, AND NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP. IT IS ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROGRAMMING ISSUE. I DIDN'T NOTICE IT AS MUCH TILL ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE LAST 8,000 HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN LANES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND MAY LEAD TO ACCIDENT. SAME AS BEFORE CHECK ENGINE, OIL, EPS AND BATTERY INDICATORS LIGHTED ON AND CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY. I WAS ON MY WAY INTO WORK DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND OUT OF NO WHERE A HEAR THIS VERY LOUD EXPLOSION LIKE A GUN GOING OFF AND THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD SHOT ME. MY 2013 SONATA WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO STATED I NEEDED BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. IT IS AN ONGOING STEERING PROBLEM. THE CAR CANNOT BE CENTERED ON THE ROAD (CONTINUOUSLY DRIFTS LEFT OR RIGHT). THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THE MORE PRONOUNCED AND DANGEROUS THE PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE OF THE SITUATION BUT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT IT. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI MOTORS AND ALL I RECEIVED WAS A VAGUE FORM LETTER. I LOOKED INTO THE SITUATION ON THE INTERNET AND WAS SHOCKED AT HOW PREVALENT THIS PROBLEM WAS. THE STEERING COLUMN SEEMS TO NOT HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED CORRECTLY. THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO STAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND I HAVE TO BE CONSTANTLY CORRECTING THE VEHICLE FROM EITHER DRIFTING LEFT OR RIGHT. I TOOK IT IN TO AN AUTO SHOP TO CHECK ALIGNMENT AND THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. THE CAR DRIVES LIKE IT HAS NO CENTER FOR THE STEERING COLUMN, NOT BALANCED AND JUST FREE TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AT RANDOM. THERE SEEMS TO BE A GAP IN THE STEERING OR WHAT I CALL A PLAY (MEANING A SPACE OR GAP FOR WHEN YOU TURN AND THE STEERING DOES NOT RESPOND, IT IS THAT GAP THAT KEEPS THE STEERING FROM IMMEDIATE RESPONSE AND CAUSING THE STEERING TO DRIFT TO THAT END POINT, LIKE A RUNNER IN A STARTING BLOCK THAT IS NOT ANCHORED AND SLIDES AWAY OR LIKE A SCALE THAT IS NOT ADJUSTED TO ZERO STARTING POINT. I MUST SAY I BOUGHT THE CAR THINKING I WAS JUST NOT USED TO THAT TYPE OF STEERING AND THEN THOUGHT IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM BUT IT HAS BECOME MORE EVIDENT THERE IS SOMETHING INNS THE STEERING COLUMN.

THE STEERING IS STICKING WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT AT ALL SPEEDS FROM 35 MPH UP AND IS GETTING WORSE.
