2013 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING NOISES COMING FROM TIRES *CN THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE WAS AN DESIGN ISSUE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FLAT SPOTS COULD REACH A POINT WHERE THE TIRES WOULD BECOME SUSCEPTIBLE TO BLOWING UP AND CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. HE ALSO STATED, THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SUSPENSION. *JB
2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE IN PARK, THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO ACCELERATE OVER THE CURB AND INTO A GRASSY AREA. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK, WITH THE VEHICLE STILL IN GEAR, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JUMP THE CURB. *JB
I RECEIVED A LETTER REGARDING ABOUT SAFETY RECALL 160, REGARDING FRONT SEAT ANCHOR AND EXTENDED WARRANTY TXX7, FOR MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING COUPLING.I ALSO WANT TO MENTION THAT THE CAR HAS HAS HAD A WEIRD "CLAN NOISE" THAT I THINK COMES FROM THE NEAR WHEN IT IS IN MOTION OR SOMETIMES EVEN AFTER IT IS PARKED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR 2 TIMES FOR THIS TO BE CHECKED, BUT APPARENTLY, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, BECAUSE IT IS HAPPENING, EVERY TIME MORE NOTICEABLE.I WORRY THAT THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS MAKING THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION. I WISH THIS MATTER COULD BE SOLVED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE BULB EVERY SIXTY TO NINETY DAYS. THE CONTACT WOULD BECOME AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER NOTIFIED HER ON THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE FIRST TO ONTARIO HYUNDAI, 1307 KETTERING DR A, ONTARIO, CA 91761, AND WAS DIAGNOSED BUT COULD NOT FIND A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS TAKEN TO VICTORVILLE HYUNDAI, 14821 PALMDALE RD, VICTORVILLE, CA 92392, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BULB NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND AROUND 540PM ON THE 10 FWY GOING EASTBOUND RIGHT BEFORE TOWNE AVE. AS THE TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY BEGAN TO SLOW I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ABOUT 5 SECONDS AFTER STOPPING I NOTICED THAT THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD. I APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER THE CAR CONTINUED TO SLOWLY ROLL. I THEN STEPPED ON THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. THE CAR SLOWLY ROLLED ABOUT 8 FEET BEFORE IT STOPPED ON THE BACK OF A BIG RIG TRAILER BUMPER. I CALLED 911 AND EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT WANT TO MOVE THE CAR AS I WAS NOT SURE IT WOULD STOP. THE CHP ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD SEND OUT A TOW TRUCK TO GET ME OFF THE FREEWAY. I WAS REMOVED FROM THE FREEWAY AND I HAD AAA TOW MY CAR TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER IN GLENDORA CA. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THEY RAN A FULL TEST ON THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. HOWEVER THEY DID FIX THE RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THE ROLLAWAY RISK AND SHIFT CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION. I ASKED THEM DO YOU THINK THIS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. THE DEALER INDICATED NO THAT MAYBE I WAS DRIVING FAST AND THE ABS TOOK OVER. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAD MORE THAN 8 FEET BETWEEN THE BIG RIG AND MYSELF WHEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP AND THAT I WAS NOT GOING MORE THAN 15-20 MILES SINCE TRAFFIC WAS SLOW. THE DEALER SERVICE AGENT SAID NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE SCANNED TEST AND THEY DROVE IT AND IS FINE. *TR
I OWN A HYUNDAI SONATA 2013 AND ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45P.M., I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 5 MPH IN A PARKING LOT. UPON ENTERING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND PLACING THE CAR IN PARK; THE CAR FAILED TO MAINTAIN ITS PARKING STATUS AND JUMPED INTO A SMALL SHRUB BANK INCHES IN FRONT OF THE SELECTED PARKING SPACE. AS A RESULT, THE CAR ALSO DAMAGED ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS DIAGONALLY POSITIONED ACROSS FROM MY CAR. I INFORMED THE POLICE OF THIS INCIDENT (AS STATED ABOVE) AND NOTIFIED THE INSURANCE COMPANY. I LATER LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR AND CONDUCTED SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE CORPORATION HAD DISTRIBUTED A NOTICE BACK IN JULY 2014 ABOUT THE CAR'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SWITCH CABLE RECALL; HOWEVER, I DID NOT RECEIVE MY RECALL LETTER UNTIL A WEEK AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE RECALL LETTER DESCRIBES ISSUES WITH THE GEAR AS IT RELATES TO "P" PARKING. (NOTE: I DID NOTICE THAT THERE IS A CONTRAST IN THE DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION I FOUND IN MY RESEARCH FOR THE RECALL AND THE ACTUAL NOTICE I RECEIVED FROM HYUNDAI, BUT IT ALL RELATES TO "P" PARKING. THE ONLINE INFORMATION CLOSELY EXPLAINS WHAT I ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED). AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL LETTER, I NOTIFIED HYUNDAI ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A PACKET THAT REQUIRES ME TO SEND THEM BACK PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE DAMAGE, AND 10 OTHER ITEMS (IF APPLICABLE) RELATED TO THE INCIDENT. HYUNDAI WOULD THEN CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION THAT COULD LAST ANYWHERE BETWEEN 6-8 WEEKS. I UNDERSTAND THAT HYUNDAI WILL NOTIFY ME AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY OF THE FINDINGS FROM THAT INVESTIGATION ONCE IT IS COMPLETED. *TR
NOTICED THAT FRONT TIRES WERE WEARING UNEVENLY. BECAUSE OF VEHICLE MILEAGE AND FACT THAT I KEEP TIRE PRESSURE IN ACCORDANCE WITH RECOMMENDED SPECS I CONTACTED HYUNDAI. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AREA RESPONDED THAT I WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND DID RECONSIDER WHEN I RAISED THE MILEAGE ISSUE AS WELL AS MY ATTENTION TO TIRE PRESSURE. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST. ON 9/11/2014, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALIGNED AND BALANCED ALL TIRES AS WELL AS RESET THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. THE TOTAL COST WAS $218.75 PLUS TAX. I KNOW THAT ALIGNMENT ISSUES CAN BE CAUSED BY POT HOLES AND THE LIKE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED LIKE THAT TO CAUSE MISALIGNMENT. GIVEN THE MILEAGE AND THE OTHER RATIONALE STATED HERE, I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THAT 1): THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY ALIGNED AT THE MANUFACTURER; OR 2) THE TIRES WERE NOT BALANCED PROPERLY; OR 3) THE TIRES USED BY THE MANUFACTURER ARE DEFECTIVE. OF COURSE, THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY THAT ALL OF THE PRIOR THREE FACTORS PLAYED A ROLE IN THIS PREMATURE/UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V434000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
JUST RECENTLY THE STEERING HAS BECOME UNSTABLE. IT IS CONSTANTLY WEAVING BACK AND FORTH. IT HAS BECOME VERY TIRING TO HOLD IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE. DEALERSHIP SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG AND NO ONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED. HOWEVER I SEE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE, AS TWO OTHER PEOPLE ARE HERE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO IN THE LAST WEEK MY KEYLESS DOOR LOCKS ONLY WORK PART OF THE TIME ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE TO HIT THEM SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THEM TO UNLOCK. *TR
30000 MILES CAR STARTED TI HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING. CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC THEN TOWED TO DEALER. ENGINE SEIZED. PROOF OF OIL CHANGES PROVIDED HOWEVER DEALER CLAIMED CUSTOMER NEGLECT. NEGOTIATED FROM $7000 TO $3000 TO $1000 BUT ONLY IF I AGREED TO ALSO HAVE BRAKES CHANGED BY HYUNDAI OTHERWISE DEAL WAS OFF. ENGINE REPLACED. WITHOUT CAR FOR APPROX 5 WEEKS.
ON AUGUST 8, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00PM, MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A FLAT GRAVEL DRIVEWAY. FRONT TIRES WERE STILL TURNED RIGHT FROM INITIAL PARKING OF CAR. I GOT IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT WHEN I REALIZED I HAD LEFT SOMETHING IN THE HOUSE AND EXITED THE CAR WHILE IT WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK. WITHIN 2 MINUTES, WHILE I WAS EXITING THE HOUSE, I HEARD A THUD AND SAW THE CAR BACKED UP AGAINST A PINE TREE ON THE PROPERTY. THE CAR HAD TRAVELED IN A U PATTERN APPROXIMATELY 100 BEFORE HITTING THE TREE. ENTERING THE CAR TO TURN IT OFF, I SEE THAT SHIFTER IS IN PARK; I TURNED OFF THE CAR SO THAT I COULD ASSESS THE DAMAGE OF THE CAR AND SEE IF I COULD DRIVE IT FROM WHERE IT HAD STOPPED. I STARTED THE CAR; DROVE FORWARD ABOUT 20, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE TO THE REAR QUARTER PANEL OF THE CAR. THE LEFT MUFFLER IS PUSHED IN, THE BUMPER CRACKED, THE TAIL LIGHT (STILL OPERATIONAL) CRACKED. REAR QUARTER PANEL SEEMS TO HAVE BUCKLED, I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE ANY DAMAGE TO THE UNDER-CARRIAGE. THE TRUNK STILL OPENS AND CLOSES WITHOUT PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVER??S SIDE OF THE CAR. THE CAR IS DRIVABLE; BUT AM FEARFUL THE CAR IS A DANGER TO ME, MY FAMILY AND ANYONE WHO COULD BE NEAR THE CAR. A CALL WAS PLACED TO HYUNDAI AND A COMPLAINT FILED (1-800-633-5151). I HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE FOR HYUNDAI SONATAS REGARDING SHIFT CABLES DISENGAGING AND I AM AWAITING THE PAPERWORK PACKET FROM HYUNDAI TO COMPLETE MY COMPLAINT IN WRITING SO THAT I CAN SEE IF THIS MAKE/MODEL IS PART OF THE RECALL. *TR
I WAS PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR MADE A JERKING MOTION, AS IT HAD DID ONE DAY PRIOR AS WELL. I LOOKED AT MY DASH AND THE EPS LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND ONE MORE LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR FORWARD AND IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACK. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO TRY AND RESTART IT, BUT THE BREAK WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN FOR ME TO TURN IT BACK ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE I SHOWED TWO SERVICE TECHNICIANS THE PHOTO OF THE DASHBOARD THAT I TOOK, AND BOTH SAID THAT MY ENGINE HAD CUT OFF. THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND DROVE ON IT TO TRY AND RECREATE THE PROBLEM, ALONG WITH RUNNING MULTIPLE TESTS, AND NOTHING SHOWED UP. *TR
VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS THE LIMITED 2.0T TRIM LINE. SPEED DISPLAYED ON THE SPEEDOMETER IS CONSISTENTLY 5% HIGHER THAN TRUE SPEED OF VEHICLE, AS VERIFIED BY INDEPENDENT EQUIPMENT. SPEED CONTROL IS EQUALLY AFFECTED. ODOMETER READINGS ARE ALSO OFF BY THE SAME AMOUNT (I.E. READING HIGHER THAT ACTUAL DISTANCES TRAVELED). INFORMATION REPORTED TO DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE WHEN THE CONTACT PRESSED THE CANCEL BUTTON. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000. UPDATED 02/23/16*LJ UPDATED 03/09/16. *JB
WHEN USING CRUISE CONTROL FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR, THE CRUISE OR LESSEN SPEED BUTTON STOPS WORKING. THIS CAUSES DRIVER TO EITHER APPLY BRAKES TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN, OR TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL. THE CRUISE CONTROL SPEED NO LONGER WORKS. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHO WILL NOT TEST DRIVE VEHICLE FOR GREATER THAN ONE HOUR TO VERIFY PROBLEM. THEY ALSO REFUSE TO REPLACE SWITCH. I INDICATED THAT I WOULD PAY TO REPLACE SWITCH, AND THEY AGAIN REFUSED, INDICATING THAT THEY WOULD BE LIABLE IF THAT DID NOT "FIX" THE ISSUE--THAT THEY SAY DOES NOT EXITS. *TR
I GOT CAR ACCIDENT ON I90. A BIG TRUCK HIT A REAR DOOR ON DRIVER SIDE AND THE CAR SPINES. THE TRUCK AGAIN HIT TO SIDE OF TRUNK AND TOP DOOR OF TRUNK WAS GONE AND BROKEN ALSO BACK GLASS(BACK OF REAR SEAT) MY QUESTION IS WHY NOT DEPLOY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ON FRONT AND BACK SEATS. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOY. MY WONDERING IS THAT IF MY KID SIT ON BACK SEAT, I AM SCARE OF IT. IS IT NORMAL ? *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THAT FENDER LINER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,623.
PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. CAR HAS 11,500 MILES. TIRE WEAR AS MEASURED BY THE DEALER IS 5/32 REAR AND 4 /32 FRONT. NEITHER DEALER OR TIRE MANUFACTURER KUMHO THINKS THIS IS AN ISSUE OR IS WILLING TO TAKE ANY ACTION. BOTH CLAIM TIRE WEAR IS NOT WARRANTIED. TIRES SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT THIS QUICKLY AND IT SEEMS OBVIOUS THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT PROPERLY SPECIFIED FOR THIS CAR, 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. *TR
AFTER LEAVING 2013 SONATA PARKED FOR 3 HOURS CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MILES AN HOUR. AFTER INVESTIGATION BY HYUNDAI MECHANICS THEY FOUND THAT A PORTION OF ENGINE WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN CHEWED THROUGH BY SOME KIND OF CRITTER. COME TO FIND OUT THE MATERIAL USED AS WIRING INSULATION IS SOY BASED THAT ATTRACTS CRITTERS. THIS COULD BE A SEVER SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS, FIRES, OR WHAT EVER. *TR
I WAS TURNING ON TO SMITH SWITCH ROAD IN ASHBURN VIRGINIA FROM WAXPOOL ROAD. I REACHED TO TURN ON THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS DUE TO BICYCLIST ON THE ROADWAY AND I BUMPED THE STARTER SWITCH FOR THE CAR AND IT SHUT THE CAR OFF WHILE IT WAS STILL IN MOTION. THIS CAUSED THE STEERING TO BE HEAVY AND BRAKES VERY HARD TO USE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE TOTALLY AND PUT BACK INTO PARK BEFORE IT WOULD START AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN WHILE IT WAS COASTING. I TRIED AND IT DIDN'T WORK. *TR
I AM SECOND OWNER OF THIS CAR. THE SPEEDOMETER IS 2 TO 3 MILES OFF. SERVICE SAYS NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. THAT SEEMS VERY ODD. *TR
ORIGINAL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE (KUMHO) WORE OUT AFTER 30K MILES AND BECAME VERY NOISY AFTER ABOUT 20K MILES. REPLACED THE TIRES WITH A SET OF HANKOOK OPTIMA H727. NOW HAVE 27K MILES ON THESE TIRES AND THEY ARE JUST AS NOISY AS THE ORIGINAL STOCK TIRES, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE WEARING A LOT BETTER THAN THE KUMHOS. I BELIEVE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE ITSELF AS THERE SHOULD NOT BE THE TIRE NOISE ENTERING THE CABIN LIKE IT DOES. I AM RUNNING A SET OF HANKOOK OPTIMA H725 ON A 2008 TOYOTA RAV4 WITH 124K MILES AND 55K MILES ON THOSE TIRES. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO NOISE COMING FROM THOSE TIRES INTO THE CABIN AND I HESITATE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER SET OF TIRES FOR MY SONATA UNTIL A DETERMINATION IS MADE REGARDING THE EXCESSIVE NOISE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. ACCELERATION GOES 2 TO 10 MILES (OR MORE) ABOVE THE PRESET SPEED AND NEVER COMES BACK TO PRESET SPEED UNLESS CRUISE IS DISABLED. ACCELERATION DEPENDS ON THE STEEPNESS OF THE ROAD. SINCE JUNE 2014, I HAVE NOTICED IT MULTIPLE TIMES. FREQUENCY IS THIS HAPPENING IS EVERY TIME. CAR ALSO ACCELERATES WHEN CRUISE IS ON BUT NOT SET AND I TAKE A U TURN. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2012. BEGINNING IN Q1 OF 2014, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELING SPONGY IN THE CAR. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, THE PEDAL BECAME EVEN MORE SPONGY, WHERE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE SUFFICIENTLY TO SLOW THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED PAST MORE THAN 2/3'S OF ITS FULL TRAVEL. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE ON 6/4/2014 WITH 19,627 MILES AS VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO WORK ON IT AS IT WOULD VOID MY WARRANTY. I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER COMPLETED THEIR TESTS AND STATED THAT BRAKES WERE OPERATING NORMALLY. I THEN TOOK THE MECHANIC FOR A DRIVE TO SHOW THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO ALMOST THE FLOOR AND AGAIN TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL BY THE DEALER MECHANIC. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH LATER, AFTER LEAVING THE CAR PARKED FOR A WEEK AT THE AIRPORT WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED, THE REAR DRIVER WHEEL BEGAN THUMPING AND VIBRATING IMMEDIATELY UPON DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. I STOPPED THE CAR AND EXAMINED THE TIRE. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE WERE DETECTED SO I DROVE HOME. THE NOISE DECREASED DURING THE DRIVE BUT DID NOT GO AWAY. THE CAR WAS THEN TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE TIRES WERE SWAPPED AND PROBLEM REMAINED WITH THE SAME LEFT REAR BRAKE. ANOTHER APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED WITH HYUNDAI DEALER TO RE-EXAMINE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE SPONGY PEDAL HAS INCREASED AND NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL CAN BE DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT MUCH EFFORT. ADDITIONALLY, THE LEFT REAR BRAKE CONTINUES TO MAKE NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE NOISE IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE USED, BUT THE NOISE STILL EXISTS EVEN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT IN USE. *TR
MY WIFE HAD AN ACCIDENT TODAY WHICH SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY SOME KIND OF MECHANICAL ACCELERATION WHEN SHE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. IT ALL HAPPENED SO FAST THAT, AT FIRST, SHE THOUGHT SHE MIGHT HAVE PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE. I PURCHASED MY HYUNDAI SONATA USED FROM NAPLETON HYUNDAI, WEST PALM BEACH, FL. MY CAR IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED AT THE DEALER. THE CAR HAD 16,000 MILE ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN MAY 2014. SHORTLY AFTER MY PURCHASE I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH A COMPLAINT THAT THE STEERING HAD A WONDERING TO THE LEFT THAT SEEMED TO STICK WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND MANY 2013 SONATA'S COMPLAINED OF THE SAME STEERING PROBLEM. THE SERVICE PERSON TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND SAID IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM THAT I NEEDED TO JUST GET USED TO ELECTRONIC STEERING. OVER THE LAST YEARS MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE RENTED MANY CARS AS WE WERE LOOKING FOR A HOME 4 HRS AWAY FROM HOME AND DIDN'T WANT THE EXTRA MILES ON OUR CAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT A REASON FOR NOT REPLACING THE STEERING IS THAT HYUNDAI WITH NOT REIMBURSE THE DEALER IF THEY DEEM THE STEERING WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP THOUGHT WE WERE HIT BY A ROCK, BUT BOTH THE WIFE AND I REFUTED THAT IDEA. WE STAND BY OUR CLAIM THAT IT BLEW FOR NO APPARENT REASON. EVEN IF A ROCK DID HIT US, THE SUNROOF GLASS SHOULD NOT HAVE EXPLODED/RUPTURED LIKE IT DID.
