TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED TO 6000 AS THE CONTACT REPEATEDLY APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,600. UPDATED 3/28/14*CN UPDATED 04/22/14
I WAS DRIVING ON I65 TOWARD DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE, IN SOME HEAVY RAIN - ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION THAT SCARED THE [XXX] OUT OF ME - I THOUGHT, MAYBE IT WAS A COLLISION, THEN I HEARD THINGS ON THE ROOF - OH NO, COULD IT BE HAILING - DIDN'T SEE ANY ICY DROPS/ROCKS HIT THE ROAD - BUT THE SOUNDS IN MY CAR WERE AMPLIFIED. SO, I PULLED BACK THE SUN SHADE ABOUT AN INCH - AND WOW, I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES!! THE SUN ROOF HAD EXPLODED - TOTALLY SHATTERED AND THE PIECES OF GLASS WERE FLYING OVER AND HITTING THE REAR WINDOW (SOUNDED LIKE HAIL). OMG, I WAS SHAKING SO BAD, I DIDN'T KNOW WHO TO CALL OR WHAT TO DO - SHOULD I PULL OVER ON OF I65 IN A HEAVY STORM TO WAIT FOR HELP? HOW MUCH RAIN COULD THE SHADE DEFLECT BEFORE CAVING IN ON ME!! I CALLED HYUNDAI SERVICE, TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND I WAS ON MY WAY THERE! THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT HYUNDAI TOLD ME HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT - MAYBE THE GLASS WASN'T COMPLETELY CLOSED AND BUCKLED! WHAT?? IN A DOWNPOUR, I'M GOING TO LEAVE THE SUNROOF OPEN??? IS HE NUTS?? AND, WHY WOULD THE SUNROOF EXPLODE IF IT WERE SLIGHTLY OPEN? I THINK HE WAS TRYING TO BLAME ME AND HAVE ME FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY, SO HYUNDAI WOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! HE TOOK PHOTOS AND SENT THEM TO HYUNDAI AND SAID HE WILL LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT REPLACING IT!! ALSO, WHEN I ASKED FOR A LOANER CAR, HE TOLD ME HYUNDAI MAY NOT AUTHORIZE IT AND I WOULD BE STUCK PAYING FOR THE RENTAL!!! I DECIDED TO GOOGLE ?HYUNDAI SONATA SUNROOF EXPLOSIONS? AND FOUND THE ARTICLE: "[XXX] WAS STOPPING TO GET GAS FOR HIS 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA WHEN SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, HIS SUNROOF SHATTERED INTO PIECES.? ALSO IT STATED THERE IS/WAS A HYUNDAI RECALL #108. I HAVE HAD NO RECALL NOTICE TO DATE AND I'VE HAD MY SONATA SINCE JULY 20, 2013. IT HAS BEEN A PLEASURE DRIVING IT UNTIL YESTERDAY!!! VEHICLE WILL NOT STEER A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE PATH THE CAR IS GOING IN. I HAVE WONDERED OUT OF THE LANE I WAS TRAVELING IN SEVERAL TIMES. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE AND THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES A LIFE IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I TOOK THE EXIT ON 605 NORTH AND STOP AT THE LIGHT TO TURN RIGHT BECAUSE THERE IS A NO TURN ON RED SIGN. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I START THE VEHICLE TO TURN RIGHT THEN GOT HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE UP TO THE FRONT END. THE OTHER VEHICLE RAN THE RED LIGHT AND HIS SPEED WAS ABOUT 45-50 MPH. MY CAR GOT HIT HARD AT THE FRONT AND TURNED 180 DEGREE, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WAS DEPLOYED. AS A SAFETY CONCERN, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS I AM GONNA HAVE A BABY SOON THIS YEAR 2014. WHAT IF THAT ANOTHER ACCIDENT OCCUR AND THE BABY OR MY SPOUSE IN THE CAR WITH ME? *TR
POOR TRACTION CONTROL IN SNOW CONDITIONS. UNABLE TO STOP CAR FOR A RED LIGHT. UNABLE TO GET UP A SMALL INCLINE WITH OUT FISHTAILING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED LEFT AND RIGHT AND WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN BEING TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FOR MY WIFE. I DROVE THE CAR HOME FROM MARYLAND WHERE WE BOUGHT IT. I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING MY LANE ON THE WAY HOME. I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO HAVE MANUAL STEERING ON ANOTHER CAR AND AN SUV AS A SECOND VEHICLE. MY WIFE DROVE THE CAR TO MY HOME IN HAMPTON AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM MAINTAINING HER LANE. I DROVE IT BACK TO WOODBRIDGE SINCE SHE WAS SCARED OF THE CAR AFTER THE STEERING ISSUE. I CONTINUED TO OVERSTEER THE CAR AND HAVE PROBLEMS JUST MAINTAINING A STRAIGHT TRACK. THE VEHICLE REQUIRED CONSTANT MODIFICATIONS TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO STAY IN THE LANE. THE PRESSURE REQUIRED TO MOVE THE STEERING ALSO SEEMED EXCESSIVE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE AFTER COMPLAINING TO CORPORATE HYUNDAI. THEY SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME TO GET THE CAR STEERING REPROGRAMMED. SINCE REPROGRAMMING THE VEHICLE IT STEERED A LOT BETTER. THE PROBLEM NOW SEEMS TO BE NOW THAT AT MEDIUM TO HIGH SPEEDS THE VEHICLE RESPONDS RAPIDLY TO STEERING INPUT AND IN EVASIVE MANEUVERS SEEMS UNCONTROLLABLE AS IT OVERSTEERS RAPIDLY. I REALLY FEEL A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THESE CARS AND WONDER HOW MANY RUNNING OFF THE ROAD ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS VERY HORRIBLE STEERING DESIGN. THE REST OF THE CAR IS GOOD EXCEPT FOR THE IGNITION BEING ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF ACCIDENTALLY WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I FILED A COMPLAINT ALSO ABOUT THAT BEFORE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
I WAS PARKING AT A RESTAURANT IN AN ANGLED PARKING SPACE NEAR A CONCRETE PLATFORM WHERE DUMPSTERS ARE KEPT. HALF WAY INTO THE SPACE, WHILE I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE, MY CAR SURGED FORWARD VERY FAST AND SLAMMED INTO THE CONCRETE PLATFORM. I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BUT THE CAR NEVER STOPPED. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT AND WAS NOT INJURED BUT THERE WAS ALMOST $7,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY CAR. MY CAR WAS REPAIRED, BUT I AM UNDER CONTRACT OF A LEASE WITH THIS CAR AND HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. I AM SO AFRAID THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN THAT I WILL NEVER ALLOW FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO RIDE IN THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN PARK OR DRIVE, THE VEHICLE ROLLED IN REVERSE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TIRES WENT BALD, THIS CAR WAS HORRIBLE IN THE SNOW WE HAD TO BUY SNOW TIRES. ALL SEASON DOESN'T DO IT IN THE SNOW. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TERRIBLE AT NIGHT IT LIMITS YOUR VISION IN FRONT OF YOU MAKES IT HARD TO SEE CURVES. ALSO THERE REALLY ISN'T A OFF FOR THE HEAT OR AIR CONDITION SO YOU ALWAYS HAVE ONE OR THE OTHER. THE WINDOWS STEAM UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS CAR WAS ALSO RECALLED FOR THE SHIFTER LINKAGE COMING DETACHED WE HAD IT FIXED SO WE THOUGHT AND NOW A YEAR LATER IT IS GIVING US THE PROBLEMS THE RECALL SPECIFIES. THERE ARE A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS WE DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS CAR AND I DON'T THINK I WOULD BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI .
ELECTRIC STEERING AT ALL TIMES CAUSES MY SONATA TO STEER A LITTLE FARTHER RIGHT OR LEFT WHEN I MOVE STEERING WHEEL WHICH CAUSES ME THE DRIVER TO CONSTANTLY MAKE CORRECTIONS SO I CAN TRY TO DRIVE THE CAR IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHICH IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS VERY TIRING AND FRUSTRATING AND I THINK DANGEROUS. FROM WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET MANY OTHER SONATA AND ELANTRA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND I WANT HYUNDAI TO OWN UP TO THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY AS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I AM SURE HYUNDAI KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS AND VERY LIKELY HAVE A FIX FOR THIS, BUT WOULD RATHER LET TIME TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I REALLY LIKE THE HYUNDAI AND KIA CARS AND IM NOT SURE IF I WILL PURCHASE A NEW ONE UNTIL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM ON MY CAR AND FOR MANY OTHER OWNERS. THE YEARS MOST LIKELY AFFECTED ARE FROM 2010 THROUGH 2015
MY 2013 SONATA HAS 12000 MILES ON IT, THE BEST PIRELLI TIRES AND FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT TWICE. I THOUGHT NEW TIRES WOULD MAKE THE CAR DRIVE BETTER BUT IT DID NOT HELP THE STEERING. MY SONATA WILL NOT DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT CONSTANT CORRECTION ON ALL HIGHWAY TYPES. THIS IS TOTAL DRIVING FATIGUE AND I WILL ONLY DRIVE SHORT DISTANCES UNTIL HYUNDAI HAS A RECALL ON THESE CARS IN FIXING THE ELECTRIC STEERING SO THE ELECTRIC STEERING IS NOT SO OVER ACTIVE. MAYBE FULLTIME POWER STEERING WOULD REMEDY THE CONSTANT NEED IN TRYING TO MAKE THIS CAR DRIVE RIGHT. ALSO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT SHOULD ALWAYS BE INSTALLED ON THE RACK AND PINION. IF THIS STEERING PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED SOON I WILL TRADE MY CAR FOR ANOTHER CAR THAT DRIVES LIKE A CAR SHOULD. WHEN I READ ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE 2013 SONATA AND THE BAD STEERING ISSUE, WE ARE ALL DESCRIBING THE SAME PROBLEM. I REALLY ENJOY THIS SONATA LIMITED, IT IS SO WELL EQUIPPED BUT HATE THE WAY IT WANDERS BACK AND FORTH.
DRIVING MY NEW 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T, I KNOW THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON THE CAR. MY CAR JUST KEEPS WANDERING WHEN DRIVING OVER 45 MPH ON FREEWAY. IT WILL KEEP WANDERING TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. IT REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTION TO KEEP MY CAR IN THE LANE AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE. WHEN THE CAR WANDERS TO THE LEFT, I WOULD TRY TO CORRECT IT BACK TO CENTER, BUT IT WON'T STAY STRAIGHT AND IT WANDERS TO THE RIGHT AFTER CORRECTION. DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. IT OFTEN GOES INTO THE OTHER LANE NEXT TO ME AND I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. IT IS SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS A SOFTWARE GLITCH, THEY KEEP SAYING IT IS FIXED BUT IT IS NOT. THEY HAVE PERFORMED SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS AND IT IS NOT THE ISSUE. IT IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA'S STEERING THAT IS CONTROLLED BY THE CAR'S COMPUTER. PLEASE REQUEST HYUNDAI TO RECALL THE EPS SYSTEM AND SOFTWARE BEFORE MANY PEOPLE GET HURT FROM THIS. THANK YOU. *TR

VEHICLE DRIFTS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY OR DOING SPEEDS OF OVER 50 MPH. IT IS VERY DIFFICULTY TO KEEP THE CAR IN MY LANE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS AS I SEE IT BEING A SAFETY HAZARD AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE NEW 2014 HYUNDAI SONATA COMES WITH DRIVER SELECTABLE STEERING MODE (DSSM) STANDARD ON EVERY SONATA. I BELIEVE EVERY SONATA WITH THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND HAVE THIS FEATURE INSTALLED AT NO COST. *TR

WHEN I CAME OUT TO GET IN MY CAR, AT WORK, I NOTICED THAT FRONT BUMPER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS PULLED AWAY FROM THE BODY. NO SCRATCHES OR SIGNS OF IMPACT WERE VISIBLE. THE PARKING SPACE BUTTS UP TO GRASS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY GET 30 TO 40 OF THESE COMPLAINTS A YEAR. THEY SAID THE CLIPS THAT HOLD THE BUMPER DO NOT HOLD UP UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. BECAUSE OF THE EXTREME LOW CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE BUMPER AND THE ROAD, ALMOST ANY POTHOLE OR BUMP OR CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK COULD CAUSE THEM TO BREAK. THIS HAS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE CLIP ATTACHMENT OF THE BUMPER TO THE VEHICLE AND A DESIGN FLAW FOR THE CAR TO BE SO LOW TO THE GROUND. THE DEALER SAID THE REPAIR, WHICH ACTUALLY ENTAILS REPLACING, PAINTING AND ATTACHMENT, COMES TO JUST SHORT OF $900. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD THE CAR HIT A POTHOLE AND THE BUMPER FLIES OFF, OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VISION, SAFETY AND FOR THOSE BEHIND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION HOWEVER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED-IN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

VEHICLE WANDERS WHEN TRAVELING AT 60+ MPH. CAN STAY IN MY OWN LANE. CANNOT KEEP THE VEHICLE GOING STRAIGHT WITHOUT CONSTANT ADJUSTMENT. STEERING SENSITIVITY FEELS WAY TOO SENSITIVE AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AT THOSE SPEEDS. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS BUT HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY SOLUTIONS. *TR
MY SONATA LIMITED WANDERS ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY, I CANNOT KEEP IT STRAIGHT, IT IS DANGEROUS AND I HAVE NEARLY CRASHED INTO OTHER VEHICLES. ITS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS ON CALLS AND IN THE DEALERSHIP TRYING TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED AND THEY TELL ME THE SAME THING, THAT ITS IN MY HEAD AND NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I have been having problems with the electrical system in this car since I had it. The lighting is so dim that you can even see anything while driving at night. I have gone back and forth with Hyundai and the dealership to get a resolution but they keep telling me that nothing is wrong and that I need to replace all of the housings. I don't feel that I should have to do this because they have even had lighting that has burned out because of how hot they get. I have replaced the harnesses because they told me to replace but the electrical issues are all around the car. My lights are constantly flickering even when they are turned off. There are multiple consumers with the same issues in this model and other model cars in that range. I have made videos of the problems and provided to them and they still do nothing. This is affecting my safety.

THE STEERING PULLS RIGHT OR LEFT AND DOES NOT STAY CENTERED. IT REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTION AND MAKES IT FATIGUING AS A DRIVER TO DRIVE ON FREEWAYS. THE DEALER'S ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO CHANGE THE STEERING MODE TO "SPORT" MODE VIA COMPUTER, HOWEVER I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN THERE IS EVEN JUST A LIGHT WINDY DAY INVOLVED. FROM THE PAST FEW WEEKS DRIVING MY NEW 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS, I KNOW THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON THE CAR. MY CAR JUST KEEPS WANDERING WHEN DRIVING OVER 50 MPH ON FREEWAY. IT WILL KEEP WANDERING TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. IT REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTION TO KEEP MY CAR IN THE LANE AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE. WHEN THE CAR WANDERS TO THE LEFT, I WOULD TRY TO CORRECT IT BACK TO CENTER, BUT IT WON'T STAY STRAIGHT AND IT WANDERS TO THE RIGHT AFTER CORRECTION. IT WILL HAPPENS A FEW TIMES LIKE THAT FROM A 15-MILE FREEWAY DRIVE. ONE TIME, I OVER CORRECTED IT AND IT WENT TO THE OTHER LANE NEXT TO ME AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. IT WAS SCARY AND TOTALLY DANGEROUS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE NEW TIRES REQUIRED BREAK-IN AND THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY, BUT IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING AND TIRES WERE ALREADY FULLY BREAK-IN. ALL OF THE TIRES ARE WITH GOOD TIRE PRESSURE AT 34 PSI AND IT CAN NOT BE ALIGNMENT ISSUE SINCE THE CAR DOESN'T JUST GO TOWARD ONE SIDE IN HIGH SPEED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE SAME FREEWAY FOR YEARS AND THERE IS NO SUCH ISSUE WITH MY OTHER CARS AFTER I TESTED DRIVE THOSE CARS ON THE SAME FREEWAY, SO IT IS NOT AN ISSUE ON THE PAVEMENT ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE HAD MY 2013 SONATA LIMITED FOR TWO WEEKS. THIS IS MY THIRD HYUNDAI VEHICLE AFTER OWNING A 2011 SONATA LIMITED AND 2007 SANTA FE. THE STEERING IN THE VEHICLE WEAVES FROM LEFT TO RIGHT (DOES NOT TRACK STRAIGHT) AND CONTROL OF THE CAR IS JEOPARDIZED BY THE SMALLEST ROAD CONTOURS OR GUSTS OF WIND REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTION. AS A RESULT OF THE CONSTANT DRIVING ADJUSTMENTS, I'M EXPERIENCING FATIGUE AND SHOULDER/NECK SORENESS. EQUALLY ALARMING IS THE LACK OF CONTROL IS EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE ON HIGHWAYS AT INCREASED SPEEDS. I FIRST NOTICED THIS WEAVING AS SOON AS I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I DID NOT DRIVE THE EXACT CAR PREVIOUSLY BECAUSE THE DEALER SECURED IT FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I CHECKED MY BLUELINK SYSTEM TO SEE IF I HAD AN ERROR, HOWEVER, THERE WAS NOT ISSUES APPARENTLY. I DECIDED TO WAIT AS I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO THE DEALER FOR MY SECOND OIL CHANGE. ON THE DAY IN QUESTION I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE A TWO HOUR DRIVE. WHEN I GOT ON TO HWY I HEARD A LOUD SOUND COMING FROM FRONT OF CAR I PULLED OVER, GOT OUT AND LOOKED AT CAR COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, GOT BACK ON HWY, NOISE BEGAN AGAIN. SEEING I WAS NOT FAR FROM A DEALERSHIP I DECIDED TO GO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I EXPLAINED ABOUT THE ESC LIGHT REMAINING ON. THEY TOOK MY CAR IN TO SHOP AND LOOKED AT IT. DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT ALL MY TIRES WERE BALD. I ASKED HOW THIS WAS POSSIBLE THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW. I HAD DONE ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD DONE IT PRIOR TO IT BEING NEEDED. DEALER CHECKED RECORDS TO VERIFY THAT REQUIRED MAINTENANCE WAS DONE, WHICH THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CALLED CORPORATE HYUNDAI WHO STATED IT SOUNDED LIKE A TIRE PROBLEM WHICH WAS NOT THEIR ISSUE, HOWEVER, THEY WOULD TRANSFER ME TO KUMHO THE MAKER OF MY TIRES. CORPORATE ADVISED ME THAT ONCE TIRE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED IF I STILL HAD AN ESC ISSUE THEN THEY COULD LOOK AT GETTING THAT FIXED. KUMHO WANTED ME TO GET TREAD MEASUREMENTS DONE, FORWARD INFO TO THEM AND THEN THEY WOULD MAKE A DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT THEY WERE GOING TO POSSIBLY HELP ME OUT ON THE COST OF NEW TIRE. REMEMBER JUST OVER 8000 MILES ON MY CAR THAT WAS BOUGHT AT THE END OF DEC 2012. Additionally, the contact stated upon taking the vehicle to a local Pep Boys for oil change, she was informed that the oil gasket was leaking. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the oil gasket was replaced, and the oil change was completed. The contact stated that she later noticed that the vehicle had consumed 2 quarts of oil after 2,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who requested service records in order to perform an oil consumption test. The contact stated that the failure increased to 4 quarts of oil after 2,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an oil consumption test was performed and the contact was informed to return every 1,000 miles for additional testing. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who informed the contact that they could not provide assistance unless the engine was knocking. The vehicle was not repaired.
