On the way to taking my son to the hospital, the car stopped working, delaying the medical care I needed for my son after being attacked by a pitbull. It was then towed to the dealership who regularly services the car. They stated it was the motor. Stated I need a new one. Stated it failed due to missing the oil change by two weeks. There were no warning signs/signals or anything coming from the car that would have caused me to bring the car in sooner.
A connecting rod bearing was thrown through the engine block causing it to stall out on the freeway. This is exactly what is occurring with vehicles in the Theta Class Action Settlement but the company states my VIN number is not included.
My car will excelerate with no warning
2018 Hyundai Tucson. Consumer writes in regard to NHTSA Safety Recall 20V-543. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH AN UNREPAIRED OPENED RECALL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
Lag and than quick acceleration upon take off. RPM revs to2000, but power serge comes a few seconds later. Just bought this car, have not returned it for testing yet, but now understand Hyundai knows about this problem, but has no solution. Could be a hugh safety hazzard.

WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE 10 SECONDS THEN A LOUD BOOM AND BLEW DARK SMOKE OUT THE BACK AND ENGINE STOPPED. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED OFF THE FREEWAY. REAR WINDSHIELD AND TAILGATE WERE COVERED IN OIL, AT LEAST IT WAS CLEAN, I HAD CHANGED IT A FEW DAYS PRIOR. TOWED TO SHOP AND ONCE ON THE LIFT THE ROD STICKING OUT THROUGH THE BLOCK WAS A SHOCK TO SAY THE LEAST. 14 MONTHS AGO I REPLACED THE ENGINE AFTER SEVERE OIL LEAKS LED TO THE BLOCK WARPING. THAT WAS $6000 THAT HYUNDAI DECLINED TO COVER. PUT A USED THETA ENGINE IN AND EVERYTHING WAS GOOD UNTIL THIS. OBVIOUSLY HYUNDAI ISN'T GOING TO COVER THIS EITHER. HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS AND STILL OWE OVER $10K ON LOAN. I'M ABOUT TO PAY FOR ANOTHER THETA ENGINE THAT IS COMING FROM THE SAME MODEL YEAR AS THE PREVIOUS TWO. I FEEL INSANE DOING THIS, LIKE I'M ASKING FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN BUT NO OTHER OPTIONS.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED KNOCKING LOUDLY THEN A LOUD BOOM AND ALL THIS BLACK SMOKE CAME FROM THE BACK END. THE VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED AND I WAS ALMOST KILLED BY A SEMI TRUCK TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE ROD BLEW A HUGE HOLE IN MY ENGINE AND IT WAS NO GOOD. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 61K MILES PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW. OPENED A CASE WITH HYUNDAI AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME I HAD NO WARRANTY. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE. ALSO THERE ARE TWO OTHER SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR THAT WERE ALSO UP AT THE SERVICE STATION FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND WITH LOW MILES AND HYUNDAI REFUSED TO MAKE THE MATTER RIGHT BY REPLACING THE MOTORS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND RIPPING OFF THE AMERICAN CONSUMER. 7300$ FOR A REPLACEMENT MOTOR AND THE VEHICLE IS PRACTICALLY NEW WITH THE LOW MILES I HAVE.

I HAVE A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON WITH LESS THEN 75000 MILES THAT I HAVE JUST HAD FOR A YEAR THAT SUDDENLY STARTED KNOCKING AFTER HAVING IT CHECK AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS BEARING MATERIAL IN MY OIL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSED TO COVER AS I WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS FOR THE LAST YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO LOCATE A NEW OR REFURBISHED ENGINE AND CANNOT PROVIDE A PREDICTED DATE ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I REACHED OUT TO AUTOZONE TO SEE IF I CAN PURCHASE AN ENGINE FROM THEM AND THEY STATED IT SAYS NA WHEN THEY ENTERED MY VIN SO THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE AN ENGINE AT ALL. SO I AM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE IT NEEDS AN ENGINE BUT I ALSO CAN'T BUY AN ENGINE?!
Bought car [XXX] blew up 2 weeks later knock censor was not put on by first dealership so engine blew on interstate car was possible on fire due to as much smoke was coming from vehicle could of been rear ended engine failure due to that no warning of engine failure tucson knows all these problem and is currently in a class action lawsuit and have known the problem for years dealership had to of known this was going on with this engine but sold the car to unsuspecting consumer i think there was a lot of stuff going on this car was owned by stew hansons then sold to dewy ford to sale which my understanding is they own both dealerships. My safety and anybody that gets into my vehicle is still have a 50/50 chance of it happening again ! I CHANGED ENGINE OIL A MONTH AGO AND STILL HAVE 500MILE LEFT UNTIL RE-CHANGE, BUT AFTER WHEN I WENT SHOPPING THE ENGINE SOUND WAS BAD SO I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL STATUS AND THERE WERE NO ENGINE OIL AT ALL. THIS WAS NOT FIRST TIME, DOING THIS. I HEARD HYUNDAI ENGINE EAT SOME OIL, BUT IT IS KIND OF DANGEROUS IF I DIDNT CHECK THE STATUS.

DEALER DOES NOT HAVE PARTS IN STOCK, WITH NO ESTIMATED DELIVERY TIME, SO VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE AT RISK FOR ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THIS DOCUMENTS HYUNDAI'S FAILURE TO ADDRESS SERIOUS SAFETY SITUATION.
I HAVE BEEN REACHING OUT TO AUTO NATION WHERE I PURCHASED MY 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A SWISHING NOISE AND SPUTTERING THE CAR JUST STOPPED I WAS HOWEVER ABLE TO GET ON THE OFF RAMP THE CAR WAS TOWED WHICH COST ME 528.00 TO GET OUT HAD HE RE-TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND THE ENGINE ROD BLEW OUT AND UP MAKING A GOOD SIZE HOLE IN THE OIL PAN NOW I HAVE TO PAY 120.00 DIAGNOSTICS CHARGES BUT THEY DO NOT THINK HYUNDAI WILL PAY FOR REPAIRS SO I'M PAYING FOR A CAR THAT IS COMPLETELY INCAPACITATED. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL THAT THE ABS MODULES MAY CORRODE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE FIRE. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD PARTS ARE ON ORDER AND THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR APRIL 26..7 WEEKS AWAY..I WAS TOLD TO PARK MY CAR OUTSIDE OF ITS SECURED GARAGE UNTIL PART COMES IN. I THINK THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE & NOW I MAY HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO RENT A CAR TO DRIVE TO LOUISIANA FOR AN UPCOMING PLANNED TRIP??? WHY WOULD HYUNDAI ISSUE THIS DANGER AND THEN NOT HAVE PARTS TO FIX ?

NO CARS WERE IN FRONT OF ME OR BEHIND ME... I SAW NO DEBRIS ON THE CAR OR IN THE ROAD... THE ROAD WAS PAVED.. I WAS REALLY AT A LOST AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO IT.. WITH A RECALL INVOLVING ABS MODULES THAT CAN CAUSE ENGINE FIRE IS A SERIOUS RECALL. NO SHOPS IN THE AREA HAD AVAILABILITY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IN LESS THAN A WEEK. THIS IS TOO LONG OF A TIME FOR THESE TYPES OF ISSUES. I AM NOT BLAMING THE SHOPS, THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH THEY CAN DO. BUT, MORE ASSISTANCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO THEM TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THIS ISSUE. I CALLED THE MORNING AFTER I GOT THE NOTICE.

WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD BOARD GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY INDICATING REAR BRAKE LIGHT NEEDS ATTENTION. WHEN WARNING LIGHT IS ON, BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. WHEN WARNING LIGHT TURNS OFF, BRAKE LIGHT WORKS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS ON AND CONSTANTLY AT RANDOM TIMES EVEN WHEN I'M STATIONARY. ALSO, WHEN I'M STOPPED, CAR TUGS LIKE IT WANTS TO ACCELERATE.
THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2018 TUSCON CRACKED WITHOUT ANYTHING HITTING IT. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY
RECALL HAS BE OPEN FOR 5 MONTHS DEALER HAS NOT FIXED CALLED NATIONAL HYUNDAI AND TOLD I HAVE TO CHASE DOWN THE CORRECT PART NUMBER TO FIX THEIR RECALL
The vehicle almost stalls and doesn't want to take off 1st thing in the morning then suddenly it accelerates abruptly well above the amount of pedal pushed. It also has inconsistent shifts at anytime during a drive. Sometimes it won't shift until we leave off the gas. This has been twice in for diagnosis at Rom Marhofer in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. Both times they tell us--they could not get the vehicle to produce the symptoms. It does this everyday of the week for us--everyday. The service writer says this is common for the dual clutch transmission. This is a safety issue with not having power to move then suddenly--wham.
HYUNDAI ISSUED A RECALL WITH A REPLACEMENT PART NEEDED TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE WERE CONTACTED, WAS TOLD THEY ONLY HAVE A REMEDY FOR THE 2019-2021 AND NO REMEDY YET FOR THE 2018 MODEL, WHICH IS MINE. SAID THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THE CAR ISN'T DANGEROUS AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO CONTACT CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO OPEN A CASE AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT REPLACING THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WHEN TEMP IS SET TO HIGH HEAT THEN SWITCHED TO 75 DEGREES THERE IS A STRONG COOLANT SMELL THAT COMES FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM. IT MAKES ME NAUSEOUS WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY CALLED ONCE AND I MISSED IT AND EMAILED THEM AND CALLED AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME BACK. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT VERY SLOW SPEED THE ENGINE SPUTTERS CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE AND NEARLY DIE. LIKE WHEN SOMEONE IS FIRST LEARNING TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT. IT MAINLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING IN PARKING LOTS LOOKING FOR A SPACE. HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. MY WIFE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. MANY HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE WE TOOK POSSESSION JULY 2018 AND HAS WORSENED. THE MANUFACTURER WILL DENY THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. NO PROBLEM WITH HIGHWAY DRIVING .
GOT A PHONE CALL YESTERDAY (1-26-2021) FROM HYUNDAI DEALER TELLING ME THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC UNIT (HECU). WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE PARKED OUTSIDE OF THE GARAGE, DUE TO A POSSIBLE COMPARTMENT FIRE. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM HYUNDAI. CUSTOMER REP AT DEALERSHIP WAS VERY IN-PROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. I HAVE A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WE HEARD KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THEN THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT CRASHING. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP. THE SHOP SAYS THAT THE ENGINE HAD KNOCKING NOISE WERE ROD BEARINGS AND THERE WAS COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAS AFRAID TO KEEP DRIVING IT SINCE I DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. MY CAR WAS TOWED BACK HOME. I HAD A TECHNICIAN CHECK MY CAR AND I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR HAD BLOWN UP. MY CAR ONLY HAS AROUND 67,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE TOW COMPANY THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT I HAVE. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY RECALLS BUT DID FIND THAT A PREVIOUS MODEL WAS BURNING OIL AND DAMAGED THE MOTOR.
AT 72000 MILES ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND LOSS POWER. TOOK TO DEALER WAS TOLD THE # 3 CYLINDER HAD AN PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF 13,700 FOR A NEW ENGINE. THAT THE COST OF THE CAR.
CAR WAS SLOWLY ENTERING GARAGE AND CAME TO A FULL STOP WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED IN GEAR. CAR WITHOUT WARNING, ENGINE REVVED UP TO FULL POWER AND CRASHED IN GARAGE. I AM ALLEGING CONDITION KNOWN AS SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE DAMAGE REPAIRED AND THE COST OF REPAIR WAS OVER $4,000.00. PICTURES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. HYUNDAI PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON VEHICLE UPON MY DEMAND TO DO SO. WHEN REPORT CAME IN, I WAS REFUSED A COPY OF EXACT REPORT BY INSPECTOR AND ONLY GIVEN A SUMMARY BY COMPANY AGENT. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE EXACT INSPECTOR REPORT TO BE READ TO ME OVER THE PHONE, THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED AS WELL.

I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL ON CERTAIN HYUNDAI TUCSON'S 4 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN SEPTEMBER 2020. I WAS ALSO NOT MADE AWARE FROM HYUNDAI, BUT FROM CARFAX VIA EMAIL. WHEN I RESEARCHED THE NEXT STEPS AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE ISSUE REMEDIED. I RECEIVED A TEXT THE EVENING BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT THAT THERE IS NOT A REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL YET.

AFTER STARTING MY CAR THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE, AT DIFFERENT TIMES, BUT NOT CONSISTENTLY. THE SMELL OF GAS IS VERY STRONG IN THE CABIN AREA EVEN WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES, ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE AREA. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS FOUND, PER CAMELBACK HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN PHOENIX ARIZONA (12/29/20).

I WAS DRIVING AT 730 AM WITH NOT VERY MANY PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. AND MY CAR WAS LOUD LIKE A WINDOW WAS ROLLED DOWN. AND I SAW SOMETHING FLY OFF THE ROOF OF MY CAR LIKE A SHEET OF ICE, BUT IT WAS IN THE 50'S OUTSIDE. I TRIED ROLLING THE WINDOWS UP, BUT THEY WERE ALL ROLLED UP. AND I KEPT HEARING RUMBLINGS OVER MY HEAD. I WAITED TIL I WAS BACK ON A SURFACE STREET AT A STOP LIGHT AND OPENED THE SUNROOF AND SAW THAT MY SUNROOF WAS BROKEN AND THE RUMBLINGS WERE THE PIECES OF GLASS THAT HAD SHATTERED. I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE'S SAFETY INSPECTION DONE ON 11/05/2020 BY TRIPLE A.

A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER LEN STOLER LOCATED AT 11275 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,400.
I have a Hyundai 2018. I bought it in 2019 with about 64,000 miles on it. I keep up with all the maintenance on my SUV. I noticed once I moved from Illinois to Florida, after having the car for a year, it started consuming a lot of oil. I've never had an oil leak anywhere on the car. In November of 2020 I went to Take 5 to get my oil changed and the mechanic said make sure to check my oil often because my truck burns a lot of oil. I'm find myself putting oil in my truck once a week. Every 500 miles it needs oil. The crazy thing is, is that the oil light never once came on. The engine light will come on. I went to a recall appointment 2 weeks ago, which was the same day I got my oil changed June 11, 2022, and I told them about this issue and they did nothing. By June 23rd I needed more oil! I see California has a lawsuit about this issue. I want to trade in my truck because this is costing too much money feeding this truck gas and now oil!
RECALL ON MY 2018 TUSCON BRAKES, BRAKES WERE ACTING ODD AND MY DAUGHTER UTIMATELY ENDED UP ROLLING AND TOTALLING IT IN OCT 2020. IN MARCH 2021, WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR BRAKES. SHE HAD MENTIONED THE BRAKES ACTING FUNNY, BUT ONLY HAVING 18K MILES. WE ASSUMED IT WAS STILL NEWNESS. SHE RECEIVED A HEAD INJURY AND SEST BELT SORES ON HER HIPS.
CAR CONSTANTLY HESITATES WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU BEGIN TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE CAR HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE BEGINNING TO MOVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING TURNS AT STOP LIGHTS OR IN INTERSECTIONS. GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR RUNS FINE AND ACCELERATES WITHOUT ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS OR AT A STOP AND YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE. ALSO, WHEN GOING SLOW OR SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP, THE CAR SEES LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO JERK AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO STALL. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH SOME QUICK ON/OFF BREAKING, THE CAR HESITATES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL.
