AIRBAG LIGHT: THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD IS FLASHING. THE REASON I AM BRINGING THIS UP IS BECAUSE THE OWNER'S MANUAL FROM INFINITI STATES THAT WHEN THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IF INVOLVED IN A CRASH. I HAVE SEARCHED ON INFINITI AND G35 FORUMS AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG OWNERS. IT ALSO APPEARS AS THOUGH INFINITI WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM FOR OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. LUCKILY THERE HAS BEEN NO INCIDENT WITH MY CAR YET AND I INTEND TO GET IT FIXED SO THAT I HAVE MY AIRBAGS OPERATIONAL IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT NHTSA RECOMMENDS WHEN I TAKE MY CAR INTO A AN AUTHORIZED INFINITI/NISSAN SERVICE CENTER? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND DEALER AND BOTH CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON IN MY 2003 INFINITY G35 SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. I HAVE RECENTLY TAKEN THE CAR TO A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP, AND WAS NOT PLEASED TO FIND THAT IN THIS CONDITION THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS IN THE 2005-2008 INFINITY G35'S. THE 2003 INFINITY G35'S WERE NOT INCLUDED, BUT YET THERE ARE OTHER 2003 G35 OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. UNFORTUNATELY, SOME OF THEM WERE INJURED WHEN THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
TL* THE DRIVER OWNED A 2003 INFINITI G35. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED IN RAINY WEATHER WHEN THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WENT AIRBORNE AND CRASHED HEAD FIRST INTO THE PAVEMENT. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE FOR RIB INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INSURANCE LOT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
INFINITI G35 COUPE DRIVER SEAT BELT DEFECTIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN FRESNO CA IN OCT. 08. THEY TOLD ME IT IS FINE AND A FEW DAYS LATER IT BROKE AT THE ANCHOR BOLT. I HAD TO TOE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT MY EXPENSE AND THEY REPLACED THE BOLT. IN OCT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THAT DEALER TO CHECK THE SEAT BELTS THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT IN FRONT IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPLACED. WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK TO REPLACE IT THEY TOLD ME IT IS WORKING FINE NOW AND DOES NOT NEED REPLACEMENT. I AM WORRIED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT MIGHT BREAK JUST LIKE THE DRIVER SEAT BELT DID A FEW DAYS AFTER THEY GAVE ME A CLEAN CHIT THAT IT WAS FINE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
OUR 2003 G-35 INFINITY WAS STRUCK ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AT OR JUST BEHIND THE BUMPER. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR THAT STRUCK OUR VEHICLE RAN THROUGH A RED LIGHT, DID NOT SLOW ON A ROAD THAT HAD A SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH (AT LEAST). THE CAR WAS TOTALED. *JB

CAR APPEARS TO BE TOTALED, BUT IS BEING ACCESSED FOR AMOUNT OF DAMAGES AT THIS TIME.
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER WAS HIT FROM THE SIDE. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT ROCKS ON BRAKING/TURNING. I HAD THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED ABOUT THE SEAT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY REPLACED A PART IN THE SEAT. IT HELPS SOMEWHAT BUT THERE IS STILL TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. IT MAKES YOU WONDER IF THE SEAT IS ACTUALLY SECURED TO THE CAR PROPERLY, AND ALSO IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, WOULD THE SEAT HOLD UP APPROPRIATELY? ALSO THE BRAKES ARE SQUEALING AT 10,000 MILES. ACTUALLY, THEY'VE BEEN SQUEALING FOR THE LAST 4,000 MILES. THEY ARE STARTING TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AS WELL SOMETIMES. I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS YET, BUT IT IS A CONCERN THAT THE BRAKES COULD FAIL. I PREVIUOSLY HAD AN EXPEDITION AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH THOSE BRAKES AS WELL, BUT WOULD NORMALLY GET 20,000 TO 25,000 MILES OUT OF THEM.*AK

I AM A 5'2" FEMALE AND HAVE A NEW G35 SPORT COUPE. THE SEAT BELT SHOLDER STRAP CUTS INTO MY NECK DO TO THE FACT THE STARTING POINT OF THE SEAT BELT IS TOO FAR BACK WHEN I ADJUST MY SEAT FORWARD IN ORDER TO REACH THE FOOT PEDALS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE CONSUMER DEPT. AT INFINTI AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. IF I WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT, THIS SHOULDER BELT WOULD SURLEY CUT INTO MY NECK AND CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD. PLEASE ADVISE. *AK
