The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the accelerator pedal was depressed, the transmission lever shifted inadvertently into neutral(N) for several few seconds and then remained in drive(D). The contact stated that the check engine, automatic transmission, and ABS warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a constant gasoline odor present inside and outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,515.
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF ON 2 OCCASIONS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, IT LOST POWER, AND THEN RECOVERED, BUT TWICE, IT LITERALLY TURNED COMPLETELY OFF. THE "SLIP", "VDC OFF", AND "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHTS ALL APPEARED. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL INFINITI DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL FOR EARLIER-PRODUCED MODELS, AND SUBJECT TO A BULLETIN WHICH DESCRIBED EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND BANK 1 AND 2 OF THE CAM POSITION SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $563.03, AND INFINITI SAYS THAT WITHOUT NHTSA TELLING THEM TO PAY FOR IT, THEY REFUSE. THIS CAR IS A 2003, HOWEVER, IT IS IN MINT CONDITION WITH LESS THAN 55,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT--ALWAYS DEALER MAINTAINED.
THE CAR SUDDENLY HAD A VERY POOR ACCELERATION, LIKE NO POWER AND A "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHTED UP. ALSO, THE CIRCUIT BOARD WITH TEMPERATURE CONTROLS, DOES NOT LIGHT UP. SAME THE RADIO ...??
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 INFINITI G35. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I HAD PULLED UP TO DRIVE THRU WINDOW AT THE BANK AND PUT MY CAR IN PARK, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, WHEN I FINISHED MY TRANSACTION I TRIED TO PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULDN'T MOVE. I FINALLY SHUT MY CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE SHIFTER WORKED. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I HAVE STARTED MY CAR AND TRIED TO PUT IT IN REVERSE. IT IS INTERMITTENT. I ALSO HAVE AN AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT FLASHING AND HOPE THEY WILL INCLUDE MY VIN # IN THE RECALL BUT THEY HAVEN'T SO FAR. EVEN IN THE EXPANDED RECALL. I DON'T KNOW WHY. WHEN DOES OUR SAFETY BECOME IMPORTANT? MY STEREO/CD PLAYER ALSO STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO REPLACE THAT. WHAT GOOD DOES ALL OF THESE REPETITIVE COMPLAINTS DO IF THE AUTO COMPANIES AREN'T MADE TO REPAIR ALL OF THEM? *TR
AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I WAS DRIVING IT AROUND FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I CAME TO A STOP ONE DAY AND MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK IT. THE DIPSTICK IS VERY HARD TO READ, UNLIKE MOST CARS, LONG STORY SHORT THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED IT. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THEY DID WHEN I GOT IT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR. EVER SINCE I HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING. I HAVE A AFTERMARKET WARRANTY BUT THEY ARE NO LONGER HELPING ME WITH MY ISSUES (OR FEEL AS THOUGH I AM NOT BEING HELPED) WITH MY CAR AT SUCH LOW MILES I HAVE LOOKED AND THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH VQ35DE MOTORS WITH OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE AND AM HAVING SEVER ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. I JUST HAS A COMPRESSION TEST AND I HAVE #'S BUT I HAVE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ALSO JUST DID A LEAK DOWN TEST TO SEE IF IT MIGHT BE THE RINGS JUST IN CASE THE COMPRESSION TEST DIDN'T GET IT. ** I NOW CURRENTLY BURN 1.2 QUARTS OF OIL IN 800 MILES. WAS THE LAST AND LATEST OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS RUN. AFTER PASSING BOTH TESTS. THE MOST I HAVE SEEN MY CAR USE IS 3QTS IN 3K. NOT GOOOD! THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO SLOW TO RESPOND WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE OR WHEN DECELERATING. IN ADDITION, THE HEAT WOULD ACTIVATE INDEPENDENTLY AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TROUBLE TURNING THE HEATER OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

IN THE LAST TRIP IT WAS AT THE DEALER FOR EIGHTEEN (18) DAYS AND THE ISSUE IS STILL UNRESOLVED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, JOHN, I WAS TOLD THAT HE CALLED INFINITI TECHNICAL SUPPORT WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS CONSIDERED NORMAL OPERATION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES A TRANSMISSION JERK AT AROUND 40 MPH IS NORMAL, AS I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A VEHICLE THAT HAS DONE THIS, INCLUDING THE 2007 G35 COURTESY CAR THAT INFINITI LOANED TO ME. IF THIS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL OPERATION, WOULD NOT ALL INFINITI VEHICLES EXHIBIT THIS? ON THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE THERE ARE EIGHT (8) PENDING COMPLAINTS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, AND TWO (2) TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS LISTED. ALSO, AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, JOHN, IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE ARE OTHER G35 MODELS AT THIS DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES; AND THEIRS ARE ALSO STILL UNRESOLVED. I AM ASKING THAT I BE TREATED THE WAY A CUSTOMER SHOULD BE, AS THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN HANDLED VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ENGINE RACED. THE CONSUMER SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK *TC *JB

UPON TAKING MY 2003 G35 SEDAN TO INFINITI OF NASHVILLE TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED BASED ON A NATIONAL RECALL, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED CAUSING MY BRAKES TO BE LOCKED. I WAS ALLOWED TO DRIVE OFF THE LOT WITH MY VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION CAUSING WEAR ON MY BRAKES AS IT APPEARED THAT NO ONE TEST DROVE MY CAR PRIOR TO THE MAINTENANCE TO ENSURE EVERYTHING WAS OPERATING EFFECTIVELY.
