HAD DEALER PERFORM CHRYSLER RECALL V69 REPROGRAM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE ON 9/19/19. WENT TO START VEHICLE NEXT MORNING FOR WORK AND THE SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE ALL LIT AND DASH SHOWS SERVICE SHIFTER. DEALER SERVICE IS ADAMANT THAT THE TWO ARE UNRELATED. DROPPED OFF ON MONDAY MORNING, WITH NO CALL UNTIL 30 MIN BEFORE SERVICE CLOSES. HAD TO RETURN CALL NEXT DAY TO FIND OUT THE PART NEEDS TO BE ORDERED AND MAY TAKE 3-4 DAYS. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER. DEALER IS CHARGING ME FULL PRICE ON PARTS AND LABOR. THIS IS MY THIRD QUESTIONABLE REPAIR ON THIS VEHICLE UNDER 80,000 MILES.
AFTER A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION (S55), THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON THE SAME DAY I HAD THE RECALL REPAIRED. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS AN UNRELATED ISSUE TO THE RECALL. UPON RESEARCH, I READ OTHERS ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE WARNING CAME ON AND IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE. IT'S NOT SPECIFIC TO CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY, JUST AT ANY TIME, ANY SPEED, AND IN MOTION. I DO NOT KNOW THE DANGER OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF THIS ISN'T REPAIRED, BUT I'VE ONLY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR TWO YEARS. THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND RECALL I'VE EVER HAD AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE SHIFT TO DRIVE WARNING AND LOW BATTERY LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER COASTED INTO A PARKING SPACE WHERE THE PUSH TO START BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO POMOCO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF NEWPORT NEWS (12629 JEFFERSON AVE, NEWPORT NEWS, VA 23602) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. THE FUEL PUMP AND CANISTER WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND CANISTER WERE REPLACED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER IN 2019. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PREVIOUSLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER PARKED AND LEFT THE VEHICLE RUNNING TO BURN FUEL TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ISSUES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE AT A HALF OR TANK TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STALLING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED MANUFACTURER TSB: S1814000002 AS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE CURRENTLY WITH 61K MILES. IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, I'VE NOTICED ALL OF THE SHIFTER LIGHTS COME ON. IT'S HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO REAL CONSISTENCY TO WHEN/WHERE. LUCKILY, I'VE BEEN IN A POSITION WHERE I COULD PULL OVER, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, AND RESTART IT. THAT'S BEEN MAKING THE ISSUE GO AWAY. THIS PAST WEEK-END, IT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AND THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING ALSO CAME ON. I WAS ONLY 5 MINUTES FROM MY DESTINATION, SO I JUST RODE IT OUT AND IT HASN'T COME BACK SINCE. GOOGLED THE WORDS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND FOUND A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM A VARIETY OF CHEROKEES WITH A VARIETY OF MODEL YEARS. I HAVE AN APPT COMING UP, BUT AFTER READING THRU THE COMMENTS FOUND ON GOOGLE, DON'T HAVE A LOT OF FAITH IN THE RESOLUTION. CHRYSLER JEEP NEEDS TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. READING THRU THE COMPLAINTS, YOU SEE THAT NOBODY HAS GOTTEN HURT. BUT IT MAKES YOU WONDER IF THAT'S WHAT IT'S GONNA TAKE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE!!
EVER SINCE THE FCA RECALL V69, WE HAVE A PROBLEM IN WHICH "SERVICE SHIFTER" IS LOCKED ON THE MAIN DISPLAY AND RED LIGHTS STAY ON TO THE LEFT OF THE GEAR SELECTOR. THIS HAPPENS AT START UP AND STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS NEVER HAPPENED UNTIL RIGHT AFTER WE GOT THE RECALL V69 CORRECTED. IS FCA GOING TO SUBMIT A RECALL FOR THIS NEW PROBLEM?? THIS SHOULD NOT BE ON MY DIME.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE SUDDENLY SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY CAME TO A STOP (IN TRAFFIC), WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN WHICH READ "SHIFT TO P AND THEN DESIRED GEAR". I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, AND TURN IT BACK ON IN ORDER TO START MOVING AGAIN. AFTER A BIT OF RESEARCH, I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON (AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS) ISSUE. I'M FEARFUL TO USE MY VEHICLE.
I WENT TO START MY CAR THIS MORNING AND IT WOULD NOT START. I ASKED A NEIGHBOR FOR A JUMP AND WHEN I GOT THE CAR ON I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND IT SHUT OFF. I AGAIN JUMPED IT AND LIGHTS ON MY DASH KEPT SAYING SERVICE TRANSMISSION. AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT. I THEN TRIED TO AGAIN PUT IT IN GEAR AND THE PARKING BREAK LIGHT CAME ON ALTHOUGH ON THE ACTUAL LIGHT SWITCH IT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. I TRIED TO TAKE MY CHILD TO SCHOOL AND WAS UNABLE TO DUE TO THE CAR WOULD DRIVE AND THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND SEEMS THAT MY TYPE OF VEHICLE HAS A RECALL JUST NOT FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN
MY ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY AND TURNED OFF WITHOUT ACTIVATING THE PARKING BRAKE. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IN ADDITION, THE RED 'BRAKE' LIGHT, AND YELLOW ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD APPEARED; THE ODOMETER WAS FLASHING; AND, 'SERVICE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE' APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE WINDOW. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FLIPPING THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH FROM THE ON AND OFF POSITIONS, THEN HOLDING THE SWITCH IN THE "OFF" POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THE PARKING BRAKE DID DISENGAGE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS PLACED BACK INTO "PARK" THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD RE-ENGAGE, AND I NEEDED TO GO BACK THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS TO DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE ISSUE ON 9/13/19 AT A CERTIFIED JEEP DEALER/TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS CORROSION OF THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE LOCATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, DUE TO WATER SOMEHOW ACCESSING THIS AREA. IMPORTANTLY, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT IDENTIFY HOW WATER GOT INTO THE AREA. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE CORRODED MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE ISSUE WOULD NOT RE-OCCUR AS THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW WATER ACCESSED THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE, BUT THAT THEY HAD RESEALED THE ENTIRE AREA AND WERE HOPEFUL THIS WOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES IN APPROX. 60 DAYS/2000 MILES SINCE HAVING THE MODULE REPLACED. THE COST OF THE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE THE MODULE WAS $963. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A LATENT DEFECT WHICH ADVERSELY IMPACTS THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
SERVICE SHIFTER
BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE ON SEPTEMBER 9 AS WELL AS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY 3 OTHER TIMES, MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. READING ONLINE WHAT THIS MEANT, I FOUND A WEBSITE WITH NUMEROUS OTHER JEEP CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM (HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T68742_DS990296). MY CAR COULD STOP WORKING ANY DAY, THE DEALERSHIP IS UNSURE. I AM WONDERING WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE ON THIS PROBLEM WITH AS MANY JEEPS THAT HAVE BEEN EFFECTED BY IT.
THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT SINCE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE ON 8/6/19 (TRACKING #11242090). I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATE REGARDING THAT ISSUE. I FOLLOWED UP WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO INFORMED ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL. ON 8/7/19, I HAD THE DEALER PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THEY FOUND THAT MY SUV REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND POWERTRAIN. THE SAME RECALL AFFECTING THE 3.2L BUT NOT ISSUED TO MY VIN. ON 9/8/19, MY SUV BEGAN SURGING MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I WAS IN IDLE AT CITY STOPLIGHTS AND DIED WHEN IN SHIFTED INTO PARK THREE TIMES WITHIN AN HOUR. THE ONLY INDICATION OF AN ISSUE ON MY DASHBOARD WAS THE BATTERY LIGHT THAT CAME ON ONCE THE CAR DIED. THE DASH AND RADIO CONTINUED TO PERFORM FINE BUT THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH THE KEY STILL IN THE IGNITION. I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED ON 8/06/19 ALONG WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND TERMINALS AND THEY WERE AT 100%. THE BATTERY WAS NEW WHEN PURCHASED 11/2018. I'D LIKE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IN ORDER TO FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I CAN PROVIDE FURTHER DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALER BAYSIDE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM 10535 AUTOMALL PARKWAY, D'IBERVILLE, MS 39540 OR IT CAN BE REQUESTED FROM THEM DIRECTLY.
AFTER RECALL CAMPAIGN V69 TO UPDATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SOFTWARE ISSUES, VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER STAY IN GEAR, WILL STALL RANDOMLY AT SPEED, AND WILL REQUIRE VEHICLE TO BE RESTARTED IN ORDER TO PUT VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE AGAIN. RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS PERFORMED FEWER THAN 1000 MILES AGO AND 2 WEEKS AGO. DEALERSHIP AND JEEP HAVE NO FIX. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE, AND WAS TOWED IN FOR SERVICE ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE THIRD TIME IN 12 MONTHS.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE AND TODAY ALL OF THE LIGHTS WERE ON ON MY SHIFTER, IT ALSO WAS PROPELLING IT SELF FORWARD WHILE I HAD THE BREAK DOWN IT DID THREE TIMES WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. YESTERDAY I SUBMITTED A DIFFERENT COMPLAINT ABOUT THE POWER TRAIN ACTING UP. TODAY THE POWER TRAIN BEGAN TO ACT UP AGAIN WHILE IN THE HIGHWAY . IT WASN'T SHIFTING AND FELT AS IF IT WAS DRIVING IN NEUTRAL BUT AT A VERY LOW SPEED WHILE THE RPM MOVED UP AND THE SPEED DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING ISSUES.
IT IS JERKING AND HARD SHIFTING EVEN WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF NEW TRANSMISSION IT IS STILL HAPPENING.
WHEN DRIVING THE GEARS DO NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND TWICE ALREADY AS DRIVING ON THE CITY ROADS THE SHIFTER DROPPED DOWN AND WASN'T SHIFTING AT ALL OR CATCHING SPEED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO COME TO THE SCENE. THE MECHANIC LOCATED FAILURE CODE NUMBER: P1D73 (ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER). THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LIFTED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT TWO PLASTIC PIECES OF GRILL SHUTTER WERE DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 512,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contacted that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a delay during acceleration and the vehicle choked up. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics and the dealer who were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact also stated that when her daughter turned on the vehicle, the service transmission message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The repair was pending. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V447000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 84,324.
BEGINNING AT ABOUT 19000 MILES THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS WOULD ALL COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. STOPPING THE JEEP AND SWITCHING IT OFF WOULD MAKE THE LIGHTS GO OFF. AT ABOUT 90000 MILES IN ADDITION TO THE LIGHTS COMING ON THE SHIFTER, THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP WITH "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE. ONCE AGAIN STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING AS MANY AS 5 TIMES WOULD MAKE THE MESSAGE AND LIGHTS GO OFF. THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED REGULARLY AT THE JEEP DELEARSHIP AND WAS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO ERRORS SHOWING ON COMPUTER. AFTER GOING ON LINE TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND NUMEROUS WEBSITES WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND STATING THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES INVOLVED. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE SAME MESSAGE AND LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT TOOK OVER 10 MINUTES OF TRYING TO START BEFORE I COULD GET THE MESSAGE OFF AND ABLE TO PUT THE JEEP INTO GEAR TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY HOME (WAS OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME ON THIS TRIP). THE JEEP DEALERSHIP ORDERED PARTS THAT THEY SAID SHOULD FIX IT (I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT PROBLEM AS LONG AS IT WAS GOING OFF). I SPENT OVER $500.00 GETTING THIS FIXED. SINCE THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH SO MANY PEOPLE, I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS ALSO A DANGER TO DRIVERS LEAVING THEM STRANDED BESIDE THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. FROM THE ON LINE FORUMS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL MODELS AND YEAR MAKES OF JEEPS. MY JEEP STARTED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP (AT 19000 MILES). HOWEVER SINCE IT WAS NOT REPAIRED (AND I HOPE IT IS) UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, I HAD TO PAY OVER $500.00 FOR WHAT I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. IT TOOK OVER A MONTH FOR PARTS TO COME TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. TWO CASES IN WHICH THIS OCCURS: 1) AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, IF "TOPPED OFF", THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN DRIVING RESUMES. 2) RANDOM TIMES, DRIVING THE CAR...WHEN STOPPED, THEN TURNING LEFT, THE ENGINE WILL STALL IN TRAFFIC (ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON). ABLE TO RESTART, BUT ENGINE MAKES TERRIBLE NOISE (WHINING) ON FIRST RESTART ATTEMPT. THE ENGINE STALL ISSUE APPEARS COMMON TO THIS VEHICLE (PER INTERNET SEARCH). STALLING IN TRAFFIC OR DURING TURNS CREATES SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS IN THE AREA.
SERVICE SHIFTER CONTINUOUSLY COMES ON
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, JEEP WILL UNEXPECTEDLY LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES. ACCELERATING AND PUMPING GAS TO KEEP IT RUNNING WILL SPEED THE PROCESS OF RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION. GAS IS NEVER OVERFILLED. ONCE PUMP SHUTS OFF NO ADDITIONAL FUEL IS ADDED AT PUMP. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED OVER 900 TO REPLACE THE ECM. PROBLEM REPEATED ON NEXT FILL UP. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET EVEN THOUGH DEALERSHIP DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM
SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE. COULD NOT ACCELERATE. HAD TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. WILL NOT RESET ITSELF. THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE. 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE
GEAR BECOMES STUCK IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROCK AS IF IT WAS HIT FROM THE BACK, TOOK IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE NEED CALIBRATED BUT I SUSPECT IT IS DUE TO UNEXPECTED SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF DRIVE WHICH MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE LOCKS SPEEDOMETER SCREEN AND ALL GEARS LIGHT UP TO DISPLAY PRND. THIS HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN PARKED WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, ALL THE GEAR SHIFTIER INDICATORS AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND, AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND ON, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN AUGUST OF 2019 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT CALLED REEDMAN TOLL CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF LANGHORNE (LOCATED AT 140 OLD YORK RD, JENKINTOWN, PA 19046, (215) 690-3770) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIFED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,700.
HAD THE RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE DONE HOPING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE, BUT IT DIDN'T. MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A JEEP DEALER TO TAKE CARE OF TWO OTHER RECALL ISSUES. I PARKED IT AT THE DEALERSHIP THE EVENING BEFORE THE SERVICE WAS TO BE DONE. OTHER THAN THE TWO RECALLS NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THE RECALLS WERE DONE BUT WHEN THEY DROVE IT IN TO BE REPAIRED, THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT WAS ON. IT WAS NOT THE EVENING BEFORE. OUT OF NO WHERE THIS LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW IT WILL NOT GO OUT AND I HAVE NO LIGHTS INDICATING IF I AM IN PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL OR DRIVE OR (+\-). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I ALSO CAN NOT VIEW THE EXACT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT, OR ANY OF THE COMPUTER OPTIONS THAT WERE AVAILABLE ON THE VEHICLE, THAT AREA JUST READS 'SERVICE SHIFTER.'
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CONSISTENTLY COMES ON. SPOKE WITH DALLAS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP AND THEY INDICATED THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND JEEP HAS REDESIGNED THE PART AS THERE WAS A FLAW IN THE ORIGINAL DESIGN. NUMEROUS FORUMS DETAIL THE PROBLEM AS WELL.

I TOOK MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE RECALL V69 SOFTWARE UPDATE. AFTER THE NEW TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, A NEW ERROR CODE BECAME PRESENT - SERVICE SHIFTER. THIS CODE WAS NEVER PRESENT BEFORE AND I WAS TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALER THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE MY ENTIRE SHIFTER REPLACED. IN ADDITION, I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHILE THIS CODE IS PRESENT.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 71K MILES. FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT TO SPEED, AND WHEN IT DOES THE RPM IS SO HIGH AND IT FEELS THAT THE ENGINE IS GOING TO BURN OUT. AFTER GETTING THE JEEP BACK THE 4 WHEEL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND NEITHER WOULD THE GAS PEDAL. TOOK JEEP BACK AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIX. SAID THE SW UPDATE COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED ISSUE. SAID THEY REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER JEEP. JEEP WILL STILL NOT ENGAGE THE 4 WHEEL AND STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP-MARKS CASA DEALERSHIP IN ABQ-NEW MEXICO. THEN A TRACTION ICON LIT UP AND IMMEDIATELY THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND I COULDN'T STEER; I WAS GOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! I ATTEMPTED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM BUT IT'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND THERE'S NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES TO SCAN. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A FLATBED TO TOW THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. THESE SENSORS TELL THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (PCM) HOW FAST THE DRIVER WANTS TO GO AND HOW QUICKLY IT NEEDS TO GET UP TO SPEED. WHEN THE PCM DETECTS A PROBLEM WITH THIS SENSOR OR THE CIRCUIT FOR THE SENSOR, IT WILL SET CODE P0222.THE PCM MAY ALSO LIMIT THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE TO 20 MILES PER HOUR OR LESS ("LIMP HOME MODE") TO PROTECT THE ENGINE AND THE DRIVER DUE TO THE CONTROL MODULE'S INABILITY TO ACCURATELY DETECT THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE BEING REQUESTED. TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE ARE WIRES BROKEN AND THE WIRE HARNESS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, HOW CAN ANYTHING I DID CREATE THIS MALFUNCTION BUT I'M BEING CHARGED FOR THE REPAIRS.
