AFTER I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THE CAR WILL STALL WHEN SLOWING (LESS THAN 30 MPH) OR IDLING MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE FIRST SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING. THE CAR STARTS SHUDDERING, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, IT STALLS, SAYS TO SHIFT TO PARK, AND THEN REQUIRES A RESTART. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR AND EVERYTHING SEIZES UP, INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL. SOMETIMES A NOTIFICATION COMES ON ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND ALL OTHER COMPONENTS BEING INOPERABLE. IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER FILLING UP MY TANK - IF I DON'T FILL MY TANK ALL THE WAY, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. NOTE THAT I DO NOT "TOP OFF" MY GAS - I STOP WHEN THE PUMP STOPS. IT IS REALLY SCARY AND REALLY DANGEROUS, AS I STALLED OUT ON A MERGING INTERSTATE RAMP AND THEN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN TRAFFIC SLOWED THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE JUNE 2019.
WE HAVE HAD THIS JEEP FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES FROM DAY 1 WITH HEAVY SHIFTING, LUNGING IN PARK AND TRANSITIONS FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. IT ALSO HEAVY SHIFTS WHEN GOING ON A SIGNIFICANT DOWNHILL GRADE. INITIAL DEALER TOLD US IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. UPDATED SOFTWARE DID NOT FIX SECOND DEALER TOLD US A RING WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. SECOND DEALER TOLD US NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. THIRD DEALER TOLD US IT WAS NOT BAD ENOUGH TO REQUIRE REPAIR. BACK TO SECOND DEALER. WHO REPLACED TRANSMISSION PAN. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. BACK TO SECOND DEALER: WAITING TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. IT LUNGES AT RANDOM TIMES. IT DOES NOT MOVE SMOOTHLY BETWEEN GEARS. DEALERS HAVE SAID THAT THERE WERE MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE 2014 TRANSMISSION. NOW WE HAVE VEHICLE THAT WE FEEL IS UNSAFE, HAS DEVALUED AND I HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS TAKING FOR "WARRANTIED" REPAIRS THAT DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE WILL ENTER WHAT CHRYSLER/JEEP CALLS LIMP MODE. VEHICLE WILL SLOW IMMEDIATELY TO 35MPH NO MATTER PREVIOUS SPEED. ACCELERATOR WILL NOT WORK. VEHICLE MUST BE PARKED AND RESTARTED TO RESET. THIS HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY.
I FIRST BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST YEAR LATE JUNE, FIRST CAR EVER. MY FIRST CONCERN WITH IT WAS THAT THE BREAKS WERE A BIT OFF EVERY TIME I TRIED TO BREAK IT WOULD ACCELERATE A LITTLE BIT THEN IT WOULD STOP. THEN I TOOK IT TO SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAD TO TAKE IT TO AN ACTUAL JEEP STORE TO GET IT SERVICE I DIDN'T TAKE IT RIGHT AWAY CAUSE I WAS BUSY BUT THEN ONE DAY AFTER GETTING GAS MY CAR STARTED ACTING WEIRD AND IT TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE STILL BEING AT THE GAS STATION SO WHEN I TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON IT WAS KICKING A LOT AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME MOVE IT UNLESS I PUT IT ON 'PARK'. EVERY TIME I HAD TO STOP AT A LIGHT IT TOLD ME TO PUT IN ON PARK AND PUT IT BACK ON DRIVE ONCE I WAS READY. I TOOK IT IN RIGHT AWAY THEY SAID THEY 'FIXED' IT AND SAID IT SHOULD BE OKAY AND IF IT WASN'T MY CAR MIGHT BE A 'LEMON' CAR. SO THAT WAS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND THERE WOULD BE SOME TIMES THAT THE I THINK ENGINE WOULD START GOING FAST OR IT SOUNDED LIKE MY CAR WAS MOVIE WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY JUST PARKED. BUT THIS SATURDAY AFTER GETTING GAS I WAS HEADING TOWARDS THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF ON ME NOT ONCE BUT TWICE THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT THE SHOPPING CENTER SO CARS WERE GOING SLOW AND I HAD ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE IT TO THE SIDE BUT THEN I TURNED IT BACK ON AND TOOK IT HOME AND BEFORE I COULD PARK IT TURNED OFF ON ME OKAY GOOD THINGS IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY OR A STREET THAT WAS BUSY. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND TOLD THEM MY PROBLEM AND THE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO JEEP TO GET IT SERVICED AGAIN BUT I DON'T WANT TO SPEND 250$ AGAIN ON SOMETHING THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO FIX AND I NEED A CAR BUT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THIS ONE NOW AFTER ALL THESE ACCIDENTS. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN BUT I COULDN'T DO IT CAUSE I NEEDED A RENTAL CAR.
MY OIL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND LIGHT STAYED ON RESULTING IN OIL AROUND IT AND IT HAVING TO BE CHANGED OUT. . WHICH SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED??
ALMOST DIED LAST WEEK!! WE PURCHASED THE JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK NEW IN 2014 WITH THE FULL INTENT OF TOWING IT 4 WHEELS DOWN BEHIND OUR MOTOR HOME. THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR TOWING IS VERY CLEAR AND WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS AS PROVIDED AND AS INSTRUCTED BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. LAST THURSDAY NIGHT (MAY 30TH 2019) ON HWY 24 IN KENTUCKY WE HIT A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD AND THE JEEP WENT INTO A DEATH WOBBLE THAT BROUGHT THE ENTIRE RV COACH FROM 65 MPH TO A DEAD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE DARK OF NIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC!!! BY GOD'S GRACE ONLY ARE WE NOT DEAD!! NO DRIVER EXPECTS AN RV TO BE PARKED ON THE HIGHWAY (EMERGENCY FLASHERS OR NOT). WE HAVE BEEN SCARED BEFORE WITH THIS AT A LOWER SPEED OF 30 TO 40 MPH, BUT NEVER AT FULL HIGHWAY SPEED! WE ARE TERRIFIED TO TOW THIS VEHICLE EVEN THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY SOLD AS TOW-ABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS, I FIND OUT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP 2014 / 2015 MODELS AND THAT A ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS IS NOW REQUIRED TO TOW THE VEHICLE SAFELY - HOWEVER - JEEP WANTS TO CHARGE YOU FOR THIS PART AND INSTALL!!! THIS IS PURE EVIL ON JEEPS PART. THEY KNOW OF THE ISSUE AND ARE PUSHING THE REPAIR OFF ON THE OWNER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY ADVERTISED AND SOLD AS TOW-ABLE WITH NO NEED FOR ANY ADAPTATIONS. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN GETTING THESE VEHICLES REPAIRED. I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY JEEP THAT MY LIFE IS IN DANGER. THEY HAVE MADE NO EFFORT IN RECTIFYING THIS DEADLY SITUATION OR EVEN LETTING ME KNOW ABOUT A POTENTIAL SOLUTION. I HAVE TRIED TO FIX THE WOBBLE INDEPENDENTLY BY CHANGING TIRES, BALANCING ETC, ONLY TO LEARN THROUGH GOOGLE THAT THE JEEP IS FAULTY IN AND OF ITSELF, THAT THE STEERING IS NOT POWERED CORRECTLY TO KEEP THE JEEP FROM GOING INTO A DEATH WOBBLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT THE BURDEN OF THE OWNER.
WHILE DRIVING ALL LIGHTS LIT UP ON GEAR SHIFTER. PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF THEN RESTARTED AND LIGHTS WENT OFF. I HAD THE SHIFTER REPLACED LAST YEAR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER WORLD (2612 COUNTY ROAD EE, ABRAMS, WI 54101) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL COOLER HOUSING FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
STARTED CAR AND WAS IN DRIVING MODE ON A SIDE/BACK STREET IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, WHEN BEEPING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, AND MESSAGE SERVICE TRANSMISSION APPEARED. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN FOOT ON GAS PEDAL, AND I COASTED DOWN HILL ON SIDE STREET, UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER AND STOP CAR. WHEN I RE ENTERED VEHICLE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE WERE STILL SHOWING, BUT VEHICLE DROVE PROPERLY.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRIPS ARE OVER 45 MINUTES. WHILE SERVICE ENGINE IS LIT UP, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON, CAR WILL THEN ACCELERATE. THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CODE WAS P1DA9. DEALER CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THIS CODE AT THE MOMENT. CODE WAS CLEARED AND AFTER ANOTHER TRIP, THE SAME CODE CAME UP.
WHILE DRIVING MY GEAR SHIFT SUDDENLY HAS ALL LIGHTS ENGAGED (PARK, DRIVE, REVERSE, AND NEUTRAL) SIMULTANEOUSLY. HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND ONLY RESOLVES BY TURNING ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON. UNKNOWN CAUSE.
TRANSMISSION JUMPING, JERKING, SLIPPING, NOT SHIFTING SMOOTHLY. IT IS BACK IN SHOP FOR THE 6TH TIME SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW. JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CANNOT FIX IT. IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD. *ALSO ROLLS BACK ON HILLS OR EVEN A MODERATE INCLINE. *JS
Car stopped without warning in middle of road. Would not start. NO Warning lights on dash. Answer: Low oil level, car just turned engine off. NO dash warning for low oil. Happened multiple times. Now: After filling with gas, stopped at light, warning messages "Put Car in park" then drive. When put in Drive, rough and huge thunk. Almost got hit, but was able to pulled over. Called AAA., waited 45, and he drove it up onto bed to bring to mechanic. No problem. They did an oil change. Drove for days then very rough idle and driving. Each time, I was able to pull over w/o being hit. Now sometimes running sluggish going down road and almost hit again. This car is not even 10 years old, but I've lost count how many close calls my family has had. If you go on any of the Jeep forums, many, many owners are complaining abouts these same issues. Why does the maker of Jeeps fix all these issues on the forums BEFORE they build or design new ones?! I have owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee(electrical), Jeep Commander(rust from bottom up), Jeep Compass, now the Jeep Cherokee (by far the WORST one). Was a Jeep fan, but I have never run into so many weird issues. Even my mechanic has given up and said bring to dealership. He has 5 different Jeeps all with electrical/unknown issues.
DECELERATING ON I-75 OFF RAMP TO CITY STREET, TURNED OFF CRUSE CONTROL, JEEP STUTTERED TO A STOP WHEN LIGHTLY PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. ACCELERATING CAUTIOUSLY, STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE, RMP NEEDLE REVVING HIGH, SLUGGISH ACCELERATION, JOLTED/STUTTERED TO ACCELERATE TO 35-MPH THEN ACCELERATED NORMAL. 4 MILES DOWN CITY STREET WENT TO DECELERATE SLOWLY FOR STOP LIGHT, "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM." MESSAGE CAME ON SCREEN, BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF. BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT PRESS DOWN AS NORMAL. HAD TO STRUGGLE JUST TO GET JEEP TO STOP AT BUSY INTERSECTION ALMOST REAR ENDED VEHICLE IN-FRONT OF ME... PLACED JEEP IN PARK, TURNED OFF & RESTARTED JEEP, AS PAST ELECTRICAL ISSUES IN 2017 HAVE HAPPENED WITH DECELERATION/ACCELERATION (IN 2017 TURNING OFF/ON JEEP HELPED(PAST IN 2017 BAD BATTERY CELL DEALERSHIP MISSED HAD TO TAKE SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR CORRECT DIAGNOSE/REPLACED BATTERY)). LIGHT TURNED GREEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH INTERSECTION TO PARK IN PARKING LOT, JEEP BARELY ACCELERATED TO 10-15 MPH "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM" MESSAGE CAME BACK ON AFTER 10 MPH WAS REACHED. HAD TO JAM DOWN FOOT TO BARELY MOVE BRAKE PEDAL 2 CM TO COME TO A STOP IN THE PARKING LOT (ALMOST HIT BUILDING). WENT TO PUT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN BEFORE TURNING OFF JEEP & DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULDN'T GO DOWN. NOW SAFETY ISSUE MIGHT NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY /DEALERSHIP 70,774 MILEAGE. THESE SAFETY ISSUES SHOULD ALWAYS BE COVERED FOR FULL LIFE OF WARRANTY NOT JUST TO 60,000 MILES!!!!!
JERKS AND SLIPS WHEN YOU TAKE OFF OR ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY EVERYDAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT WHILE RUNNING A TEST, A CODE CAME UP INDICATING THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT CALLED BREEDEN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (5900 US-71 BUS, FORT SMITH, AR 72908 (479) 646-473) AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,444.
VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. IF YOU SLOW DOWN FOR A LIGHT WHICH THEN TURNS GREEN, WHEN YOU GO TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. ALSO DOES IT WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A COMPLETE STOP. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR REAR END COLLISIONS BECAUSE OF THIS. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN MISSOURI AND TAKEN TO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND EACH TIME THE EITHER SAID THEY FOUND NO ISSUE OR THEY FLASHED THE COMPUTER. WE ARE LIVING IN UTAH NOW AND THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO THE POINT MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE IT. THIS IS A DAILY ISSUE WHEN I GO TO WORK I HAVE TO ENTER A TWO LANE HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY THE E-BRAKE ACTIVATED AND I COULD NOT DEACTIVATE THE UNIT. CALLED AAA TO HAVE THE JEEP TOWED TO CONTEMPORARY AUTOMOTIVE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD A DIFFICULT TIME PUTTING THE JEEP ON THE RAMP TRUCK. I AM FORTUNATE I WAS NOT GOING 50MPH. THE SERVICE ADVISER SAID THE PROBLEM WITH THE E-BRAKE WAS THAT A SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE WAS KINKED AND WATER CAUSE THE E-BRAKE FAIL.
JEEP WILL NOT FULLY SHIFT TO DRIVE. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS FROM PARK TO DRIVE THE GEAR WILL SLIP INTO NEUTRAL. THEN WHEN I AM ABLE TO GET INTO DRIVE, SWITCHING FROM DRIVE TO PARK ONCE I MAKE IT TO A DESTINATION THE 'PARK' GEAR ISN'T RECOGNIZED SO I HAVE TO KEEP SHIFTING BACK AND FORTH UNTIL IT LOCKS. ALSO, I HAVE A SLOPED DRIVE WAY. I'VE HAD A NEAR EXTREME ACCIDENT WHEN I PARKED AND MY WIFE WAS COMING AROUND THE BACK BUT PARK WASN'T RECOGNIZED AND THE JEEP STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MASH ON THE BRAKE BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENED. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS THAT MY JEEP WILL STALL AND WILL NOT START BACK UP AGAIN. I TRY AND IT WANTS TO BUT DOESN'T. THEN ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER IT WILL START AND ALL IS GOOD. I THOUGHT IT MAY BE THE GAS BUT I HAVE GONE THROUGH DIFFERENT TANKS AND DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS. USUALLY FIRST THING IN THE AM. I HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AS IT WILL START TO GO BUT STALLS. WHAT IS WRONG WOTH THIS VEHICLE.?
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND IDLING AFTER FILLING UP. DEALER SAYS IT'S BECAUSE OF OVERFILLING THE TANK, EVEN THOUGH I EXPLAINED I WAS TOLD NOT TO DO THIS THE FIRST TIME I HAD AN ISSUE AND HAVEN'T SINCE (OVER 1 YEAR). DEALER SAYS ITS THE FUEL PUMP AND EVAP CANISTER AND WILL BE $1,800 TO REPLACE. JUNE MARKS 3 YEARS THAT I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 10+ TIMES, AND HAS HAD TO TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. *DT*JB
1. THE CAR SHIFTS REALLY HARD INTO GEAR AS I AM DRIVING. NEXT ISSUE THE DOOR ELECTRICALLY JUST STOPPED WORKING
MY VEHICLE WAS ENGAGED IN ACTIVE USE OF CRUISE CONTROL, I HAD BRAND NEW TIRES, AND SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE TO WHERE IT CAUSED AN UNSAFE PUSH OF ACCELERATION AND THE CAR LOST TRACTION ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE ENDED UP ROLLING 125 FEET OFF A SMALL DROP INTO A RIVER. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DESPITE HAVING 13 POINTS OF IMPACT. I HAD TO EXTRICATE MYSELF FROM THE SUBMERGING VEHICLE. I THE ROADS WERE PAVED WITH GRAVEL ON EITHER SIDE. I WAS TRAVELING AT 55MPH, AND FOLLOWING THE CURVE OF THE ROAD. *DT*JB
THE TRANSMISSION HAS EXTREMELY ROUGH SHIFTS AND THEN GAS PEDAL WON'T WORK AND YOU HAVE TO PULL TO A SHOULDER OR PARKING LOT AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO WORK. IT'S HAPPENED BOTH ON TURNPIKE AND CITY STREETS. ONCE I WAS COASTING DOWN A HILL WITHOUT MY FOOT ON EITHER THE GAS OR BREAK.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL
WHILE ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE ENGAGED IN TO PARK. MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT SLOW DOWN TO A ROLL. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE BECAME IDLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO PARK, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO OTHER GEARS INSTEAD OF PARK. AFTER THE GEAR FINALLY ENGAGED IN PARK, THE VEHICLE MOVED IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT HAD TO GET BACK INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND SHIFT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL CHIMING NOISE AND "PLACE IN PARK" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO M AND L MOTORS CHRYSLER JEEP AND DODGE (406 PIEDMONT DR, LEXINGTON, NC 27295, (336) 295-1329), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX YET. PASSENGERS SEAT BEARING ON TRACK BROKEN. FRONT END NOISE WHEN TURNING HAS BEEN IN DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX SOUNDS LIKE RUBBING ON SOMETHING CRINKLING SOUND.
SINCE WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IT HAS HAD SEVERAL RECALLS AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER BASED, AND POWER TRAIN ISSUES. NONE OF WHICH WERE EXPLAINABLE. WE WERE SINPLY TOLD TO TAKE IT TO JEEP, PUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN TO FIX IT AND GET IT BACK. WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ABUT 4 YEARS. YESTERDAY, WITHIN A MONTH OF THE LAST OCCURENCE, OUR CAR HAS FROZEN ON US AND WILL NOT START. JEEP HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. WE'VE KNOWN SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. WE ARE NOT IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO KEEP PUTTING MONEY INTO A CAR THAT SHOULD LAST US LONGER, OR TO SINPLY JUST TRADE IT IN SINCE WE STILL OWE 10K ON THE CAR. THIS HAS ALSO PUT OUR KIDS SAFETY AT JEOPARDY, HAS CAUSED US LOSS OF WORK DAYS ON TOP OF PUTTING US IN A MORE FINANCIAL BURDEN. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS. WE HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING AFTER EACH GAS FILL UP. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR 8-12 MONTHS, BUT LAST FRIDAY AFTER A FILL UP IT NOT ONLY STALLED BUT JOLTED AND THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE D AND R SIGNS BEGAN TO FLASH ON THE DASH AND GEAR SHIFT. I HAVE HEARD FROM A DEALERSHIP THAT THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS TO NOT FILL THE TANK UP ALL THE WAY (WHO WANTS TO DO THAT!! ) OR REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. FROM MY RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO HESITATE AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION WILL GO INTO A NEUTRAL STATE, BUT THE LIGHTS WILL NOT SHOW THAT IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD OR BACKWARD DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE. YOU CANNOT SHIFT, WHEN YOU DO TRY TO SHIFT, THE CAR WILL JOLT LIKE THE ENGINE IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON, SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE WAITING EACH TIME CLEARS THE PROBLEM. JEEP CAN NOT REPRODUCE THIS IT SO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. WILL GET A MESSAGE ON DASH STATING TO SERVICE TRASMISSION AND PARKING BREAK. AROUND 4:30 PM, AFTER JUST A FEW SECONDS OF LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY, A MESSAGE CAME ON THAT STATED I NEEDED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK BEFORE I COULD SHIFT GEARS AND THEN MY BATTERY LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER, PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK & THEN SHUT IT OFF. RESTARTED IT, BUT STRUGGLED TO START.. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART A THIRD TIME BUT WAS DEAD. TURNED THE KEY TO RUN TO SEE WHAT LIGHTS STAYED ON THE DASHBOARD THE BATTERY WAS STILL ON WHILE THE ENGINE LIGHT DISAPPEARED. AFTER WAITING ABOUT A HALF HOUR, MY FATHER IN LAW WAS ABLE TO GIVE ME A JUMP. CAR STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE GET THE BATTERY REPLACED. HOWEVER I READ LAST NIGHT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, WITH THE BATTERY NOT BEING THE ISSUE SO MY HUSBAND WILL BE GETTING THE PREVIOUS BATTERY WE HAD, TESTED THIS WEEKEND.
MY JEEP IS POPPING OUT OF GEAR, TELLS ME TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE BATTERY LIGHT, THE BRAKE LIGHT, MANY MORE (PLEASE SEE PICTURE ATTACHED) I BOUGHT THE CAR AT CARMAX. HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IN NOVEMBER OF 2018, GOT THE CAR SERVICED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOW, 4 MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED. IN NOVEMBER, THEY INFORMED ME THE ISSUE WAS THE CAR FUEL INJECTOR & A BAD SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. TODAY'S ISSUES IS STILL UNKNOWN, AS THE CAR HAS TO BE SENT OFF FOR EVALUATION. PURCHASED USED NOVEMBER OF 2017. HAS A LITTLE OVER 55,000 MILES ON IT. HAVE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO TAKE LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO SHIFT AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T SHIFT UP AT ALL OR WILL SHIFT DOWN OR EVEN TO NEUTRAL SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. WE HAVE FLAT TOWED OUR JEEP ACCORDING TO MANUAL SINCE WE PURCHASED IN 2014. ON A FEW OCCASIONS WE HAD INTERMITTENT WOBBLING OF THE MOTORHOME WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS DUE TO WATER IN THE MOTORHOME'S HOLDING TANKS. ON RECENT TRIP WE HAD TRAVELED LESS THAN TEN MILES ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OUR JEEP TOW CAR BEGAN TO SWERVE VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. WE WERE DRIVING STRAIGHT BETWEEN 55-60 MPH WITH NO ON-BOARD WATER. A DRIVER BEHIND US STOPPED AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH OUR JEEP SINCE IT WAS SWERVING VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE, NOT THE MOTORHOME. WE INSPECTED EVERYTHING AND THERE WERE NO FLAT TIRES AND CONTINUED SLOWLY. THE EVENT OCCURRED REPEATEDLY AFTER WE CROSSED A BRIDGE OR PATCH OF ROUGH HIGHWAY. WE EVENTUALLY UNHITCHED THE JEEP AND MY WIFE FOLLOWED BEHIND THE MOTORHOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. MY WIFE LATER LEARNED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA THAT MOPAR ISSUED A WIRING HARNESS TO REPAIR THE LACK OF POWER TO THE STEERING SYSTEM WHEN THE JEEP IS FLAT TOWED. WE WERE NEVER WARNED OF THIS ISSUE BY MOPAR AND COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF WE WERE TOWING WITH A SMALLER MOTORHOME. WE CALLED MOPAR AND THEY CONFIRMED A REPAIR KIT WAS AVAILABLE BUT THAT IT MAY VOID OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THE WIRING HARNESS BUT HAVE NOT SCHEDULED THE REPAIR. ALSO, WE WERE TOLD WE MUST PAY OUR $100 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL JEEP OWNERS THAT ARE UNKNOWINGLY TOWING A JEEP THAT COULD GO OUT-OF-CONTROL AT ANY MOMENT. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 9:30PM ON WEDNESDAY FROM CLASS BACK HOME (12-15 MIN DRIVE) ON A BUSY HIGHWAY (GA 400). I HEAR A DING AND LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE FROM 65 MPH, I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR STAYED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND THAT THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE PARK SHIFT. THE D LIGHT ON THE GEAR SHIFT ALSO BEGAN TO BLINK; THE VEHICLEE CASE TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO COME AND BLOCK THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE SOMEONE MOVE THE VEHICLE. WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AGAIN IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS THIS TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT IN WHICH MY JEEP BEGAN TO DECELERATE, THE FIRST TIME WAS A FEW MONTHS AGO LAST YEAR (OCT/NOV), THE CAR DID THE SAME THING ON A BUSY ROAD WHERE IT BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WOULDN'T PICK UP ANY SPEED WHATSOEVER WHEN GASSED. ONCE I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND DRIVE THE VECHICLE IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARDS IN DRIVE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO KEEP AND THEY SAID THE ISSUE WAS BATTERY RELATED AND 'FIXED' IT, I PICKED IT UP A FEW DAYS LATER AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE THE SAME DAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED BACK TO JEEP; I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE AND IT SEEMED THAT THEY MISSED A STEP UPON FIXING THE BATTERY. I INQUIRED WHETHER THIS IS PART OF THE ISSUES PEOPLE FACED WHEN IT WAS RECALLED IN 2014/2015 AND WAS TOLD NO. I ASKED IF THEY'RE SURE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY INSISTED THAT IT WAS.
