I BOUGHT MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE OCT.2016 I NOTICED WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP OR PULL OUT IT WOULD STAY STUCK IN THE GEAR AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT LIKE KICKED INTO THE GEAR WITH A JERK. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG. WELL, IT HAS NEVER STOPPED AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE. WHAT UPSETS ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS JEEP JULY 12, 2016 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 TRANSMISSION MAY SHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY TO NEUTRAL IF THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTS TO NEUTRAL, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. WHAT MAKES IT WORSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNAWARE OF THIS WHEN THEY SOLD IT OR WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK?? FRIDAY I LEFT WORK AT 6 AM I DRIVE AN HOUR I DRIVE ON BUSY HIGHWAYS MY JEEP SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON A DBL LANE ROAD WITH CARS BEHIND ME AND TO THE LEFT, I AM THANKFUL I WAS ON THE RIGHT SIDE THAT I COULD DRIFT OVER TO THE SIDE, BUT THE SNOW THAT WAS PACKED ALONG THE GUARD RAILS STILL LEFT ME 1/2 IN THE LANE FLASHING SOMETHING ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION. THANK GOD I WAS NOT ON PENNSYLVANIA, INTERSTATE 70 WHEN THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR CATASTROPHE WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND TRACTOR TRAILERS. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT TOLD HIM WHAT HAD HAPPENED ...I GOT AN APPOINTMENT IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS THIS JEEP IS UNSAFE!!!! PLUS THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES WITH IT.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AFTER IT WAS WORKED ON PREVIOUSLY. *TR
WHILE FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE PUMP AT THE STATION KEPT SHUTTING OFF. I CHANGED PUMPS AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PLACE MORE THAN 3 GALLONS OF FUEL IN THE CAR OVER 10 MINUTES. I CHANGED GAS STATIONS AND HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE ISSUE. THE CAR CANNOT BE FILLED. IT HAS BEEN TO 3 DEALERS AND IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE FUEL IN THE FILLER TUBE IS BACKING UP AND NOT ALLOWING GAS TO GET SMOOTHLY INTO THE TANK. CURRENTLY THEY CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE ALTHOUGH IT IS A REGISTERED KNOWN ISSUE AND DOES NOT AFFECT ALL CARS OF THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS AND JEEP IS NOT FIXING THE CARS WITHOUT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO MOST OWNERS.
AFTER EACH TIME OF RE-FUELING THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE, DOESN'T WANT TO RUN; VEHICLE ASKS TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND WE TRY AND PULL OVER OFF ON A BUSY 6 LANE ROADWAY. SCREEN SAYS SERVICE TRANSMISSION AFTER STALLING. THEN THE VEHICLE GOT STUCK IN 3RD GEAR. WEREN'T SURE IF WE WOULD MAKE IT HOME. CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP IN ANY WAY.
I FLAT TOW THIS 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEHIND A 40 FT CLASS A NEWMAR MOTORHOME. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT DEATH WOBBLE 6 TIMES FROM 30 MPH TO 70 MPH. THE EVENT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER TURNS OR BUMPS. IT IS EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND THE ONLY REMEDY IS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP EVEN ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JEEP NATIONAL BEGINNING OCT 2019. THEY EXAMINED THE CAR FOR A WEEK IN OCT IN MOUNTAIN HOME, ARKANSAS. THEY CHECKED SUSPENSION, SHOCKS, TIRES, ALIGNMENT, STRUTS, ETC. NO DEFECTS. THEY HAD NO SUGGESTIONS. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2016 THAT THEY SAID WAS COMPLIED WITH THAT INVOLVED A WIRING HARNESS FOR FLAT TOWING AND GAVE ME AN AMENDED PAGE FOR MY OPERATING MANUAL SAYING THE HARNESS WAS REQUIRED. THE EVENT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I WENT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND VERIFIED THAT THE HARNESS WAS INSTALLED. ON MY LAST TRIP IN SEPTEMBER 2020, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED JEEP CARES AND REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO AN ENGINEER OR TECHNICIAN AND THEY SAID THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE AND ADVISED I TAKE IT TO A DEALER. I CALLED MY HOMETOWN DEALER AND SPOKE WITH THE SHOP FOREMAN. HE LOOKED INTO IT AND HAD NOTHING TO OFFER. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST FRIDAY AND FOR THE FIRST TIME WAS TOLD MOPAR PART #68321424AB WAS REQUIRED AND IT WAS NOT INSTALLED ON MY CAR. THIS WAS THE FIRST JEEP PERSON THAT WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND KNEW WHAT THE SOLUTION WAS. JEEP WANTS ME TO PAY $750 TO HAVE THE PART (A WIRING HARNESS) INSTALLED. I THINK IT IS A SOLUTION TO A DESIGN FLAW AND ONE THAT ALL JEEP SERVICE PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
I PARKED MY CAR ON MAIN STREET IN TOWN TO PICK UP MY MAIL. WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE MY EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK WAS ON. ( I NEVER PUT E BRAKE ON,BIT DID IT BY ITSELF) I TRIED TO DISENGAGE BUT IT WOULD NOT. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED AND IT COST ME $611.28 IN REPAIRS. WE WERE TOLD WATER AND CORROSION WAS FOUND IN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE AND CONNECTOR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS AND HAVE FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. WE CALLED JEEP WHO TOLD US THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE E BRAKE BUT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T MATCH. OBVIOUSLY IT SHOULD. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH JEEP AT THIS POINT. WATER SHOULD NOT BE GETTING INTO THE MODULE. THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AS SUCH AND RECALLED.
WHILE STOP AT A LIGHT THE JEEP STALLED OUT WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT,PARKING GEAR LIGHT, AND ROAD HAZARD LIGHT CAME ON. THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK IN GEAR IT JERKED BADLY AS IF THE ENGINE CAME OUT AND BUNNY HOP AS IT TOOK OFF LIKE SOME ONE LEARNING TO DRIVE A STANDARD. SOME TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT ROUGHLY SHIFTS INTO 2ND. AND IT STALLED ONCE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHICH IS DANGEROUS.
THE TRANSMISSION GETS KINDA HECKTICK WHEN YOU FIRST TAKE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR. WHEN IN DRIVE AND AT A STOP IT SEEM TO HOP IN TO GEAR AT AN ODD RATE TO WHERE IT MAKES THE CAR JERK. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND GET THE SAME RESPONSE FROM THE PERSONNEL 'IT'S JUST LEARNING YOUR DRIVING HABITS' THEY SAY. 'IT WILL GO AWAY IN ITS OWN' THEY ADD. BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY THE 9SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR IS SO CRAZY
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND STALLING AFTER STOP. FIRST INCIDENT 2/4 - GAS FILLED PULLED OUT TO TRAFFIC, WHILE WAITING IN INTERSECTION TO TURN LEFT VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES - HARD SHIFT AFTER SERVICE ON 2/2 FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. READING MULTIPLE REPORTS OF ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION - NO FIX. COMPLETE SAFETY ISSUE IF REPORTS SHOWING SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED GREAT DIFFICULTY WHILE PUMPING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED SEVERAL DIFFERENT METHODS TO REMEDY THE FAILURE, BUT NONE OF THEM WORKED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DCH CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF TEMECULA (26845 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 92591, (951) 225-4541) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT SENSED A STRONG FUEL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX]. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FAILURE TRANSMISSION & GAS TANK AND FILL MECHANISM. WE PURCHASED THIS FROM A DEALER AND A FEW DAYA AGYER TAKING IT. IT STARTED SHIFTING VERY VERY HARD. ALSO WHEN YOU PIT INTO GEAR SOMETIMES IT THROWS ITSELF INTO PARK.
TRYING TO PUMP GAS AND THE PUMP WON'T LET ME PUMP GAS INTO THE GAS TANK
WATER IS FILLING THE INSIDE FLOOR ON VEHICLE ON DRIVERS SIDE. CAUSING MOLD BUILD UP. PROBABLY SAME AS THE R67 RECALL ON SAME YEAR OF JEEP. THEY ARE THIS VIN DOESN'T FALL UNDER SAME RECALL BUT HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. BODY COWL LEAKING INTO CABIN. HAPPENS AT ALL TIMES AS LONG AS THERE IS MOISTURE OUTSIDE.
OIL LEAK FROM CRACKED OIL COOLER. COULD CAUSE FIRE. POOR/DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND BAD LOCATION NEAR HEAT. NEEDED AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT. MANY OTHERS NEEDED REPLACEMENT ALSO. JEEP CUSTOMER CARE WAS NO HELP.
WHILE DRIVING A TRANSMISSION ALERT TRIGGERED CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE POWER, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING ALLOWED ME TO REGAIN POWER AND DRIVE HOME. I WILL BE BRINGING IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE 6TH PLUS TIME FOR SIMALAR TRANSMISSIONS ISSUES OVER THE LIFE OF THIS CAR. A PERMENANT FIX HAS NOT BEEN FOUND AT THIS POINT ALL PREVIOUS DEALER INTERACTIONS HAVE BEEN FLASHING THE SOFTWARE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX AND OBVIOUSLY LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING IS A SERIOUS DANGER. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE NOT JUST AFFECTING MY VEHICLE.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK 4X4 JAN. 25 2019 7:00 A.M. REMOTE STARTED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS 56 DEGREES OUTSIDE. DROVE THE VEHICLE 10 MINUTES TO PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. MADE IT TO PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT PARKED THE VEHICLE. 45 MINUTES PASS, A CUSTOMER ENTERS PLACE OF MY EMPLOYMENT, AS THE CUSTOMER ENTERS THEY INFORM ME THAT MY REAR WINDOW IS SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF VANDALISM, CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OR NATURAL DISASTER. ONLY VISIBLE EVIDENCE, THE WINDOW BLEW OUT WHERE THE DEFROSTER PLUGS ATTACH TO THE WINDOW ON BOTH SIDES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY AND ACCELERATED. AFTERWARDS, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE CONTACT'S PERSONAL MECHANIC CAME TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND DIAGNOSED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT AND THE VEHICLE HAD A HARD SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,400.
AS I WAS ACCELERATING OUT OF A CORNER, I LOST TOTAL POWER IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL, ITS AS IF THE NEUTRAL WAS SWITCHED ON BY ITSELF. ALL MY LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFTER LIT UP. MY DASH DISPLAYED A MESSAGE SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF THAT I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK, PRESS THE BRAKE AND CHANGE THE GEAR BACK TO DRIVE. AS THIS HAPPENED, I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND BY THE DRIVER DRIVING BEHIND ME. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PRESSED THE BRAKE, AND PUT THE CAR BACK IN DRIVE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED IT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I PUT IT IN PARK AND STILL NOTHING. SO I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I WAITING ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND TRIED STARTING MY CAR WHICH IT WOULD NOT START AFTER MY SECOND TRY IT TURN ON PUT MY GEAR AND IT SEEMED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BEEN RIPPED OFF THE FRAME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH AND BOTH TIMES MY KIDS WERE IN THE VIECHLE!

FEB 07, 2019: DRIVING AROUND 55MPH, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. NO LIGHTS CAME ON BUT VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. AFTER FIVE MINUTES, WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. 3. FEB 7, 2019: TURNING RIGHT, VEHICLE LURCHED AND SKIDDED. 4. FEB 08, 2019: FILLED GAS TANK, PULLED AWAY FROM PUMPS. VEHICLE LOST POWER, SHUT DOWN

AFTER FILLING JEEP UP WITH GAS CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING LOSE OF ALL CONTROL OUT OF KNOW WHERE I SEE MANY FORMS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HEART AND NOBODY KNOWS IF IT'S THE GAS TANK OR FUEL PUMP A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SPECIALLY IT STOPS DOING IT AFTER GOING FOR A LITTLE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME. *DT NO VIN AVAILABLE.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 32 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT AND WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT BACK INTO GEAR. ALSO, THE RPMS ACCELERATED AND THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPITAL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF INDIAN TRAIL (8461, 5501 W HWY 74, MONROE, NC 28110, (704) 220-4370) WHERE THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
EXTREMELY HARD AND RUFF SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS A HARD ACCELERATION OR A SOFT ACCELERATION, IN A TURN OR STRAIGHT LINE. TOOK IT INTO JEEP DEALER AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS JUST A LEAK AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE RE CALIBRATED. IT IMMEDIATELY GOT WORSE. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION/ENGINE IS GOING TO RIP ITSELF OUT OF THE CAR. WE CALLED THEM MULTIPLE TIMES TO REPORT THE ISSUE WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE AND WE WERE TOLD IT NEEDS TO "LEAN THE WAY WE DRIVE" AND "ADAPT". WE KNEW THIS WAS A HALF TRUTH AND TOOK IT BACK. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS SO BAD THE TRANSMISSION MOUNTS ARE ABOUT TO BREAK. THE PROBLEM IS AS BAD AS EVER, THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. PLEASE CREATE A NEW RECALL AS THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING ACCIDENTS. I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND THE CAR JERKED SO HARD WHEN SHIFTING GEARS I LITERALLY HIT THE MEDIAN TRYING TO AVOID THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
IN JANUARY I WAS DRIVING ON 391S (HIGHWAY) AND THE DASH LIT UP WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT, BREAK LIGHT, OIL LIGHT. A MESSAGE APPEARED STATING "SERVICE TRANSMISSION. RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE AT ZERO SPEED" THE GEAR SHIFT STARTED BLINKING WHILE IT WAS IN DRIVE, I PULLED OVER AND WHEN I TRIED TO PARK A LOUD CLUNKY SOUND WAS MADE AND THE VEHICLE JOLTED FORWARD (SAME WOULD OCCUR WHEN SHIFTING IN REVERSE). JEEP SERVICED IT STATING IT WAS RECALLS AND IT WAS FINE. IN MAY WHILE ON 91S (HIGHWAY) THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN. JEEP SERVICED IT STATING IT WAS AGAIN FINE. I COMPLAINED STATING A CAR WITH UNDER 50K MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE AND EVENTUALLY THEY TOLD ME IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. IN AUGUST (THIS CURRENT MONTH) IT OCCURED AGAIN ON 91N(HIGHWAY). SAME EXACT THING, AND JEEP AGAIN SERVICED THE VEHICLE STATING IT WAS MORE RECALLS AND IT WAS FINE. I COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES STATING THEY HAD TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID THAT THE DEALER STATED IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY WOULD NOT DO THAT. IT HAS 52K MILES AND I HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS NOW 3 TIMES ON A HIGHWAY WITHIN THE LAST 8 MONTHS. BEYOND A SAFETY CONCERN AND I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH HOW SCARED I AM TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY NOT TO CAUSE OR BE IN AN ACCIDENT SO MANY TIMES BUT WHY SHOULD I CONTINUE TO RISK IT. I WENT TO PARK THE CAR YESTERDAY AND WHILE IN REVERSE IT JOLTED FORWARD ABOUT TWO FEET BEFORE STARTING TO GO BACKWARDS. IT HAS CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS DRIVING WHERE IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTING GEARS AND JOLTS FOWARD. (ITS AN AUTOMATIC).
FOR THE PAST YEAR, THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING APPEARS WHILE I'M DRIVING. TO REMOVE THE ALERT, I'VE SIMPLY HAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT CLEARS OUT. VEHICLE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT HEADACHE. PURCHASED AUG 21, 2018. DECEMBER SOMETHING BROKE, ENDED UP BEING A TRANSFER CASE SHATTERED. DAMAGING OUR RADIATOR. SCHEDULED THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN TO FIND IT NEEDS A WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT. RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE NOTICE THE PASSENGER REAR IS STILL MAKING A LOT OF NOISE, ENOUGH YOU CAN HEAR OVER THE RADIO, AND THE STEERING FEELS TIGHT AND PULLS TO THE LEFT.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH OUR 2014 JEEP UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND LOST POWER. THE DASH INDICATED THE LOSS OF POWER BY STATING RPM'S ARE FALLING AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASHED ON / OFF. FORTUNATELY OUR DAUGHTER WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO AN EXIT RAMP AND PULL OFF SAFELY. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL IN PLACE FOR THIS PROBLEM.

THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER WHICH GAS STATION WE FILL UP AT. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO OUR BROTHER-IN-LAWS VEHICLE. STILL PENDING TO BE FIXED AS HOPEFULLY, IT IS UNDER OUR WARRANTY.

WHILE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE PARTIALLY LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, UP SHIFT, OR OWNSHIFT, THE BRAKE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER LIGHTS ON THE DASH INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE JEEP. I WAITED A MINUTE THEN STARTED IT BACK UP. THE SERVICE PARKING BRAKE MESSAGE WAS ON THE MESSAGE CENTER, THE ODOMETER IS BLINKING, AND 4WD IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC AND THEY SHOWED ME THE PARK BRAKE MODULE HAD WATER INTRUSION AND WAS VERY MUCH CORRODED.
VEHICLES NINE SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO TO FIRST GEAR UPON MAKING A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRANSMISSION GOES AUTOMATICALLY TO THIRD GEAR OR SECOND GEAR. THIS RESULTS IN THE TRANSMISSION STARTING FROM A STOP FROM THIRD GEAR (UNLESS MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTED) REDUCING POWER AND CAN RESULT IN A SLOW TAKE-OFF, INCREASING RISK OF A COLLISION OR THE VEHICLE ROLLING BACK INTO VEHICLES BEHIND THE CAR. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS BECAUSE OF THIS. NINTH GEAR NEVER ENGAGES, THIS HAS TO RESULT IN LOWERED FUEL ECONOMY AND REDUCED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION LIFE AS DOES STARTING FROM THIRD GEAR. I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION TO BE DEFECTIVE AND HAVE READ OF NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS OF THESE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED RE-PROGRAMMING ON ALL RECALLS AND NOW JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THIS IS "NORMAL" AND "NO DEFECT" THUS, NO REPAIR NECESSARY AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON SEVERAL OCASSIONS WITH COMPLAINTS OF VEHICLE JUMPING INTO GEAR. RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE VEHICLE WOULDN'T STAY RUNNING AND COULD NOT PUT INTO GEAR. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING OIL. HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE OIL COOLER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT IS NOISY AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AND THAT THE AIR TEMPERATURE AMBIENT SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I GAVE THE GO AHEAD TO REPLACE THE OIL COOLER AND AIR TEMPERATURE AMBIENT SENSOR. TOLD THEM TO HOLD OFF ON REPLACING THE DRIVE SHAFT AS THE REPAIR ALONE FOR THE OIL COOLER AND SENSOR WAS GOING TO BE APPROXIMATELY $1,300. I THEN RECEIVED A CALL BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY CHANGED THE OIL COOLER AND UPON TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE IT DIDN'T WANT TO START. THEY TOLD ME MULTIPLE CODES WERE COMING UP AND THAT MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF OVER $1,000. ESTIMATE FOR ALL REPAIRS TO BE $2,500 PLUS. WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS A SPECIAL ORDER AND ONCE ORDERED THEY WOULD HAVE TO HOLD MY VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS UNTIL IT CAME IN AND COULD BE INSTALLED. IT IS COSTING ME $35.00 A DAY FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE THROUGH THEM. I ESTIMATE TOTAL COST FOR REPAIRS AND RENTAL TO BE ABOUT $3,000. THIS COST DOES NOT INCLUDE THE REPLACING THE DRIVE SHAFT WHICH THEY TELL ME IS NOISY.

SLOW TAKE OFF, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. TOOK TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY FOUND A CODE STATING THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR. PLEASE LETS FIND A SOLUTION TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
