I FILLED MY GAS TANK UP, DROVE IT ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPOT, AND THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. ON THE SCREEN IS SAID 'PRESS BRAKE AND PUT INTO GEAR'. THE BREAKS WERE LOCKED AND IT WAS ALREADY IN DRIVE TO I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON. I WAS ABLE TO FINISH PULLING INTO MY PARKING SPOT AND IT SEEMED TO BE FINE. MY HUSBAND GOT INTO THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE OKAY WITH IT AND HE DECIDED TO DRIVE IT RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH IT. ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, HE WAS GOING THE SPEED LIMIT, 45 MPH, AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, THE BRAKES LOCK, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND THE ENGINE CUT OFF AND THE SCREEN SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE CODE WAS FOR A FUEL PUMP. WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION AND WAS A BIG ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS. THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP AND EVAC SYSTEM.
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, JERKING, ACTING AS IF IT IS GOING TO COMPLETELY STALL. TODAY I HAD THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COME ON AND IT WAS HARD TO GET IT TO GO UP A HILL. COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, IT BARELY WOULD GO. VERY UNSAFE. VERY SCARY SITUATION WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACKSEAT. APPX 2 MONTHS AGO, IT DID THE SAME THING AND THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AND FIXED THE ISSUE. IT OBVIOUSLY DID NOT GET RESOLVED. APPX 8 MONTHS AGO, I WAS PULLING OUT OF A SHOPPING CENTER WHEN ALL MY LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. NOT FORWARD, NOT IN REVERSE. AGAIN, VERY SCARY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON IT WAS OK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME UNLESS THEY PHYSICALLY SEE IF HAPPEN THERE ISN'T MUCH THEY CAN DO. SO I DIDN'T SEE A NEED TO GO THROUGH ALL THE TROUBLE OF TAKING IT IN WITH THAT RESPONSE. IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR, WE WERE DRIVING ON VACATION WHEN THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND WE COULDN'T ACCELERATE AGAIN, IT WOULD BARELY GO. WE DROVE VERY SLOWLY AND AGAIN, IT PUT US IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CAN THINK OF SEVERAL OTHER TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT THIS IS THE GIST OF IT. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. IT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. I AM SCARED EVERY TIME I COME FROM A STOP THINKING IT WILL STALL ON ME.
THE VEHICLE IS SLUGGISH ALONG WITH MAKING NOISES WHEN AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING GEARS WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 20 AND 50 MPH
AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, IF I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASH THEN THE CAR DIES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES. SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE THE CARBON FILTER OR SENSOR OR SOMETHING.
MY JEEP BUCKS AND THEN STALLS OUT EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP WITH GAS. WHETHER I AM DRIVING 10 MPH OR 75 MPH. I ALMOST DIED TODAY BECAUSE MY CAR BUCKED AND THEN INSTANTLY TURNED OFF ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE WAY TO WORK. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING. I THEN FIND OUT THAT THIS I ACTUALLY A COMMON ISSUE AMONGST JEEPS AND HAS YET TO BE RECALLED. I AM LIVID AND TERRIFIED OF DRIVING MY CAR NOW. I NEED THIS HANDLED AND PAID FOR IMMEDIATELY . HOW CAN A CAR COMPANY WILLINGLY HAVE PEOPLE IN UNSAFE SITUATIONS LIKE THIS AND NOT FIX IT ! I AM SO ANGRY AND SO SHAKEN UP .
THE CAR STOPPED. I COULDN'T RESTART IT. A LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID TRANSMISSION SERVICE. AFTER A FEW TRIES I COULD RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. FIRST TIME I THOUGHT I DID SOMETHING WRONG. IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY.

MY VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT A FAIRLY SLOW SPEED AND SLIGHTLY UPHILL ABOUT A BLOCK FROM MY HOME. I MANAGED TO START IT AGAIN AND DRIVE TO MY HOME BUT IT RAN VERY BADLY AND I WASN'T SURE THAT I WOULD MAKE IT. THE WORDS: 'SERVICE TRANSMISSION' APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER'S REPAIR INVOICE (ATTACHED) LISTS, ' FOUND CODE P1DDD-). NEEDS TCM AND PCM UPDATE PER SB 21-025-18'. ON MAY 14, 2019, JUST 5 MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT THE SAME MALFUNCTION HAPPENED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. IT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND DRIVEN WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY A FEW BLOCKS TO BE OUT OF HARMS WAY UNTIL A TOW TRUCK COULD AGAIN DELIVER IT TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FOR $968.35. (REPAIR INVOICE ATTACHED). HOW LONG WILL THIS ONE LAST? WE WON'T KNOW BECAUSE WE ARE TRADING THIS VEHICLE IN. WE DO NOT TRUST IT TO DRIVE IT ANY LONGER. HOW MANY MORE ARE OUT THERE? SEE THE LINK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED OR BADLY HURT IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. I URGE YOU TO DO WHAT YOU CAN TO EFFECT A RECALL OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THESE FAULTY PARTS. *JS
PREVIOUSLY HAD 2 SEPARATE RECALLS REGARDING THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE), BOTH WE'RE IMMEDIATELY REMEDIED AT THE DEALER. HOWEVER, AT 111,000 MILES MY 'CHECK ENGINE' CAME ON AND MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN ACTING FUNNY. PRIOR TO TAKING BACK TO THE DEALER I STOPPED AT THE LOCAL AUTOZONE AND HAD THEM IDENTIFY THE CODE THAT TRIGGERED MY 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT. THE TCM WAS NOT ACCEPTING THE DATA CORRECTLY, MEANING THE TCM NEEDED RE-PROGRAMMED OR REPLACED. DUE TO MY VEHICLE BEING 11,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY, THE DEALER REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS CLEARLY A JEEP PROBLEM, AND NOT A USER PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER DONE ANY TOWING AND ALL OF MY MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THIS IS, BY FAR, THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MAKE. I FEEL SINCE IT IS A 'JEEP' ISSUE, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD COMPUTER SCANNED. CODE P0520 ENGINE OIL SENSOR FAILURE WAS DETECTED. CALLED JEEP WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AND THEY SAID THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THIS SENSOR IS LOCATED UNDER THE PLENUM AND INTAKE MANIFOLD WHICH BOLTS TO THE ENGINE HEADS. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY IN NJ AROUND 6 OR 7 PM WHEN THERE WAS WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION. IT TURNED OUT THE REAR WINDSHIELD SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE CAR AND LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS RELATED TO REAR DEFROSTER BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THE MOST DAMAGE IS ON EACH SIDE.
WHEN I'M DRIVING MY CAR WILL JUST STALL WITHOUT WARNING UNTIL THE CAR BECOMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 4 TIMES BEGINNING 10-27-18 AND THE LAST TIME WAS 11-08-18 AND I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIPS DESIGNATED SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT COULD BE FIXED. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY HAD OTHER CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR JEEP-CHEROKEE STALLING ON THE FREEWAYS AND IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE STALL ON ME WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREETS AND I WOULD ONLY GET A FEW FEET FROM HOME AND ONE OF THOSE TIMES THE BATTERY LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND ANOTHER TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON FOR DRIVING ON ON HILL OR SOMETHING IN THAT EFFECT.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE KEEPS REPEATING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. SOMETIMES I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. TODAY AND ON OTHER DAYS, THE JEEP HAS CUT OFF ON ME A FEW TIMES WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING. THE VEHICLE SLAMS INTO GEAR WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES AND FEELS LIKE I AM GETTING HIT IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. TODAY, THE JEEP ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT JUST STOPPED ON ITS OWN. ADDITIONALLY, IT OFTEN SHIFTS GEARS ERRATICALLY AND VERY ROUGH, EVEN JERKING AT TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND I KEEP GETTING STALLED SAYING EITHER COME BACK IN 500 MILES SO THE CAN DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST OR THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. EACH TIME I TAKE IT IN THEY SAY THE DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE OR AN OIL CHANGE. THE PROBLEM REMAINS.
TRAVELING ON TOWN ROAD. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME LIT UP ON THE CONTROL PANEL WITH A WARNING TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK. ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. GAS PEDAL UNRESPONSIVE. WE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 15+ MINUTES. VEHICLE FINALLY RESTARTED LIKE NORMAL. TURNED VEHICLE AROUND BY CROSSING OVER DOUBLE YELLOW LINES, PUT IN REVERSE. VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF LEAVING US DISABLED ACROSS ROAD, SAME WARNING AND BATTERY LIGHT ON. ENGINE FINALLY RESTARTED 10 MINUTES LATER. RETURNED THE VEHICLE SAFELY HOME.
TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP FEELS LIKE SLIPPING AND POPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR
AFTER TRANSMISSION RECALL REPAIR, ENGINE REPLACED DUE TRANSMISSION RECALL REPAIR 3RD TIME, VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH WHEN IN NEUTRAL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND JEEP DIED. THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER A MOMENT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. STILL HAVING SAME ISSUES AFTER TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AND A NEW ENGINE DUE TO THE DEALERSHIP RESETTING THE COMPUTER INSTEAD OF REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION. SO NEW ENGINE AND REPAIRED TRANSMISSION, STILL HAVING ISSUES. CONSTANT ISSUE WITH THE JEEP IDLING ROUGHLY, SOMETIMES NOT STARTING OR STALLING IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS.
THE VEHICLE'S GAS TANK HAS STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN I TRY TO FILL IT UP, IT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY STOPS THE PUMP AND USUALLY SHOOT GAS BACK OUT ALL OVER ME HAND AND CLOTHES. I AM ABLE TO GET VERY SMALL AMOUNTS OF GAS IN THE TANK, BUT NOT WITHOUT GETTING GAS SPILLED EVERYWHERE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY/FIRE HAZARD. MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER FIRST SAID THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND LATER SAID THAT I NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK AND THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $1200 PLUS. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER TO REPORT THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD VOLUNTARILY FIX IT. TOO SAY THAT IT WAS AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. CHRYSLER SAID THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE, THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE MY GAS TANK. THEY DID NOT APPEAR TO CARE THAT GAS GETTING ALL OVER MY HANDS AND CLOTHES WAS DANGEROUS.
FROM DAY 1 THIS 2014 JEEP TRAILHAWK IN TRANSMISSION HAS ACTED VERY WEIRD..STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE SPINS, MAKES A HUGE BANG AND THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR..THIS IS USUALLY WHEN ACCELERATING UP SLIGHT INCLINES, HILLS OR INTO MY UPHILL DRIVEWAY. THE DAILY CHALLENGE IS TRYING TO AVOID THE JEEP SHOOTING THRU MY GARAGE DOOR AS I PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY. ALSO, DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY..LONG HESITATIONS BETWEEN 2ND & 3RD WHILE UP-SHIFTING..LONG DELAYS IN DOWNSHIFTING WHEN INSTANT ACCELERATION IS NEEDED..VERY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. 1ST TRANSMISSION INCIDENT - TURNED RIGHT INTO A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION, IMMEDIATELY A LOUD BANG (LIKE IT POPPED OUT OF GEAR) AND EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING AND RINGING WITH SERVICE TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE..THE VEHICLE HAD NO ACCELERATION (ENGINE WAS RUNNING) AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE FLOOR AND JUST MISSED GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND AS IT COASTED TO A STOP. AFTER SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION FOR 5 MINUTES WITH THE VEHICLE OFF, STARTED IT UP AND MOST OF THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND IT WENT BACK IN GEAR BUT WAS IN LIMP MODE. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK 1 WEEK WITH THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING WAS ALLEGEDLY FIXED WITH A WIRING HARNESS RECALL. ALL THE ORIGINAL PROBLEMS ARE STILL PRESENT EXCEPT THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH ARE NOT ON ANY MORE. 2ND TRANSMISSION INCIDENT - TURNED LEFT INTO A VERY BUSY, UPHILL INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE HAD NO ACCELERATION (ENGINE WAS SPINNING) AND MY FOOT WAS PUSHING ACCELERATOR BUT WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE. SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID GETTING T-BONED BY A TRUCK COMING DOWN THE HILL AND INSTEAD GOT REAR ENDED AND HIT FROM BEHIND. AFTER BEING IN THE FARRISH JEEP CHRYSLER COLLISION CENTER FOR A WEEK GETTING REPAIRED IT WAS RETURNED TO THE FARRISH SERVICE CENTER WHERE NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND! BUT THEY RELOADED SOFTWARE AND SAID IT WOULD NEED TO RELEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. ALL THE PROBLEMS ARE STILL PRESENT TODAY!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED SUDDENLY AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIELDS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM ASHEVILLE (255 SMOKEY PARK HIGHWAY, ASHEVILLE, NC 28806, (828) 667-5213) THREE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE NEW VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED AND IT WAS REPLACED DURING THE SECOND VISIT. DURING THE FIRST VISIT, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL AND TOPPED IT OFF. THE CONTACT HAD A CODE READER, WHICH LOCATED CODES P1042 AND P0302 FOR CYLINDER MISFIRE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST EVEN THOUGH SHE LOCATED THE CODES WITH HER OWN CODE READER. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALER FOR A THIRD TIME WITH THE SAME FAILURES AND THE SAME CODES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
ON DATE OF INCIDENT VEHICLE FUNCTIONED FINE IN THE MORNING. AT 4:30PM WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE WORK VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. RECEIVED SEVERAL ERROR MESSAGES INCLUDING 4WD SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE, PARK BRAKE UNAVAILABLE AND SERVICE SHIFTER. 2 HOURS LATER NOTHING WORKED. TRIED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED. HAD AUTO ZONE TEST BATTERY AND SAID IT WAS FINE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN TESTS FINDING NO CAUSE OR ISSUES. BATTERY PASSES THEIR TESTS. MORNING AFTER I GOT VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALER IT STARTED UP VIA REMOTE START WITH NO ISSUES, TOOK SON TO DAYCARE 7 MINUTES AWAY. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES WENT TO LEAVE DAYCARE (VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF) AND IT DID NOT START. WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START WITH A JUMP. CALLED DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM, WAITING FOR A CALL BACK NOW. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
HI I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES. WHEN I DRIVE (20-25 MPH), THE CAR JOLTS AS IF SOMEONE HAS HIT ME FROM BEHIND ALMOST AS IF THE CAR IS SHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING GEARS. WHEN IM APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND GRADUALLY SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT MY FOOT ON EITHER THE GAS OR BRAKE, THE CAR JOLTS BACK AND FORTH. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN IM DRIVING UPHILL AND DOWNHILL AROUND 20 MPH. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR AS THIS IS A RISK THAT I WILL CRASH DUE TO THE SHIFTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER WHO ONCE AGAIN REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT BELEIVE THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS IN THE JEEP IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. IN LATE OCTOBER TOOK THE JEEP BACK IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THE FRONT RIGHT BEARING WAS ALREADY BAD, THE MECHANIC COULD MOVE THE WHEEL AROUND WITH HIS HANDS. LESS THAN A FEW THOUSAND MILES WERE PUT ON IT.
I EXPERIENCE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN COASTING. WHEN THE CAR ATTEMPTS TO DOWN SHIFT, THERE IS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE RPMS AND A SUDDEN AND UNINTENDED INCREASE IN SPEED. CAR WAS HARD TO START AFTERWARDS, ISSUE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES ON THE WAY BACK HOME (LESS THAN 1 MILE). CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. I DID RESEARCH ONLINE AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. HOPEFULLY WILL STILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND THE DRIVESHAFT AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT AND RENDERED UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND OFFERED TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIAMTE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,989.

SOON AFTER THIS THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO DEFAULT AND SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHICH IS A BAD THING WHEN CROSSING MULTIPLE LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHAT I THOUGHT WAS SAFE I SOON LEARNED WAS A SERIOUS RISK TO OTHERS AS WELL AS MYSELF. THIS STARTED HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND A SOLUTION WAS NEVER FOUND. THE VEHICLE WOULD WORK FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN THE VICIOUS CYCLE OF THE ONGOING ISSUE OF DEFAULTING TO NEUTRAL WHILE IN TRAFFIC WOULD OCCUR. JUST THE OTHER DAY THE DIAGNOSIS "POST WARRANTY" IDENTIFIED THAT THE VAPOR CANISTER AND FUEL PUMP WAS THE ISSUE. EARLIER I WAS TOLD THAT REPLACING THE BATTERY SOLVED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, WHICH WASN'T TO BE. REPLACING THE VAPOR CANISTER, AND FUEL PUMP COST $1292.45 AND I'VE ONLY DRIVEN MY VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO THE GARAGE.

DID SOME RESEARCH ON GOOGLE--500 PLUS DOCUMENTED CASES -VIDEO OF THIS PROBLEM BY WELL KNOWN REPORTER/INVESTIGATOR. I PAID A LARGE SUM OF MONEY FOR A UNSAFE VEHICLE--JEEP IS AWARE OF WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUES-ALSO PROBLEM DOES NOT SHOW UP ON SCANNER-SO ITS NOT HAPPENING. Car bought new on 2014. On 2018 car started to show engine light to illuminate on and off. Jeep technician comply with recalls, and did not change transmission despite DTC U0402 was there all the time, and car was under warranty. Now, Delaware Motor Vehicle does not want to renew my tag because DTC U0402 is related to increase of emissions. Cost of changing transmission is $11,000. Jeep office does not want to authorize the change of transmission despite the problem started when the car was 4 years old. Not fair at all. I am worry to have accidents because of this DTC.
This is an addendum to complain number 11665800 I would like NHTSA do a recall for the transmission of my Jeep Cherokee 2014. I read an Article by Clifford Atiyeh, published on 07/08/2019 titled: Jeep recalls 2014 Cherokee again as ZF Nine-Speed Transmission Problems continue. I did not get this recall. 1-I bought the car new on 05/2014 2-Meggee Service Advisor Thomas Heck (phone 302-856-0064, Georgetown, Delaware) knew that my car was showing engine light on and code U0402, receipt dated 09/04/2018. At this time my car was under warranty, and technician did not do anything about it, despite DTC was there after performing recall U63. The Jeep technician told me not to worry about it. 3-Receipt dated 08/23/2019, , got recall V69. DTC U0402 was there. 4-Receipt dated 09/30/2022, my car got replacement of primary fuel pump. Car showed DTC U0402 again, and technician wrote "unrelated code", and told me not to worry. 5-Receipt dated 05/30/2025, I took my car to Jeep technician, because my car failed DMV inspection for DTC U4402 (Jeep code U0402). This time Jeep Service Technician said that because of this code U0402, the car needed a change of transmission, and it cost $11000. Receipt dated 06/06/2025, I took my car to DMV Pre-certified Technician, and he also told me the car needed a change of transmission, cost $11,232 6-I complained to Megee because Jeep technician knew about this problem with code U0402 since 2018, when the car was under warranty, and they told me not to worry about it, and now Jeep has the responsibility of changing the transmission for free. 7-I contacted Jeep Customer Care (877-426-5337) complaint #[XXX]. Representative told me that the problem had to be resolved directly with Megee Motor (Georgetown, Delaware), because it was its problem. 8-Megee Supervisor Tom Hecks told us that he needed authorization from Jeep Customer Care to change the transmission of the Cherokee. Follow up of complaint tracking # 11665800 and 11667793. My Cherokee 2014 has DTC U0402 since 2018. Jeep does not want to do a recall for change of transmission for my car. Jeep wants to charge me $11000 for this repair, despite DTC was evident when the car was under warranty, and Jeep told me not to worry about it. Delaware Motor vehicle has given me a tag that will expire on 07/24/25, and DMV does not want to give me more extensions, DMV has told me clearly that IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIR. If NHTSA is not able to get a recall for my car before 07/19/25, I will have to sell my car for a very low price to Jeep, despite that my car is in very good condition and 27,509 miles. Jeep has not been honest with me since 2018 about DTC U0402, Jeep told me not to worry about it because the "code was stored but inactive". Jeep got advantage of my ignorance in this issue.

OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING. YOU CAN SEE OIL LEAKING OUT OF A PORT WHILE RUNNING. OIL IS PUDDLING UP AND RUNNING DOWN THE MOTOR. THIS CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE OR A FIRE.. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE OWNED; I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS STIL UNDER WARRANTY. DEFINITELY IS A SAFETY HAZARD ALSO THE TRANSMISSION ON OCCASION SHIFTS REALLY HARD WHEN MOVING FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT.

CAR STARTED TO LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL, GIVING MORE GAS ONLY MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. WAS NOT ABLE TO GO OVER 45 MPH UNLESS GOING DOWN HILL. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM 6 MONTHS AGO AND WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
