RECALL NUMBER - 15V-041 RECALL NUMBER - 15V-461 I AM CURRENTLY LEASING THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE ANOTHER YEAR LEFT. I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED YARK DEALERSHIP (WHO I HAVE LEASED THE VEHICLE FROM) IN REGARDS TO GETTING A RENTAL DUE TO MY SAFETY CONCERNS FOR ME AS WELL AS MY FAMILY. I WAS TOLD YARK WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL AND THE NEXT AVAILABLE TIME TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN WOULDN?T BE UNTIL NEXT MONTH. AS YOU ARE AWARE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. BEING A MOTHER OF THREE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN AND WOULD LIKE TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THIS LEASE ASAP. I HAVE ATTEMPTED ON MANY OCCASIONS TO CONTACT 1888.327.4236 NATIONAL HWY TRAFFIC SAFETY HOWEVER NO SUCCESS. ON TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2015 12:12PM ON INTERSTATE 91-S AT 65MPH IN THE MIDDLE TRAVEL LANE, I WAS SURROUNDED BY MULTIPLE TRACTOR-TRAILERS. MY DASHBOARD SUDDENLY LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO GET TO SAFETY. THE CAR'S SPEED DROPPED DRAMATICALLY WITHOUT WARNING, EVEN WHEN I APPLIED THE GAS. AT LEAST TWO TRACTOR-TRAILERS JUST MISSED HITTING ME. I NARROWLY MANAGED TO GET TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ON FRIDAY, JULY 31, 2015, EXECUTIVE JEEP REASSURED ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT IT BEING SAFE; THE SERVICE ADVISOR RE-ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS. ON MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2015, JUST 7 DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE FAILED ME, I WAS EN ROUTE TO WORK ON 91-N I WAS TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE LANE SURROUNDED BY MULTIPLE VEHICLES. AGAIN, THE DASHBOARD LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES WHILE TRYING TO MAKE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR'S SPEED DROPPED DRAMATICALLY WITHOUT WARNING, EVEN WHEN I APPLIED THE GAS. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONE WEEK, THE VEHICLE FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER AND I NARROWLY MANAGED TO GET TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. CHRYSLER INSISTS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS THE THIRD JEEP CHEROKEE IN CONNECTICUT THAT I AM PERSONALLY AWARE OF THAT HAS THE SAME DEFECT; THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I PURCHASED A NEW JEEP TO BE SAFE; MY EXPERIENCE WITH JEEP HAS BEEN FAR FROM THAT. I AM STUCK PAYING OF AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. NARROWLY AVOIDING BEING KILLED TWICE IN THIS VEHICLE IS ENOUGH FOR ME.

BACKED OUT OF DRIVEWAY THEN WARNING LIGHT/SYMBOL AND TONE CAME ON THAT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WAS UNAVAILABLE AND SERVICE REQUIRED, SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING CAME ON AS WELL AS SERVICE PARKING BRAKE, LIMPED BACK INTO DRIVEWAY BARELY. TURNED VEHICLE OFF RESTARTED STILL GETTING WARNINGS AND TRIED TO MOVE VEHICLE MOTOR REVVED BUT VEHICLE DIDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE. GOT ANOTHER WARNING TO PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK THEN SELECT GEAR. CURRENTLY WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK. JEEP WON'T MOVE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE NOW. SUSPECT TRANSMISSION ISSUE.
AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE, WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT NW HILLS JEEP IN TORRINGTON, CT. ON MAY 11. 2015. FRIDAY, JULY 17 I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR. WITH NO NOTICE, THE CAR STOPPED DEAD IN THE ROAD AND PUT ITSELF INTO PARK. I COULD NOT START OR MOVE THE CAR IN ANY WAY, THE MECHANIC WHO TOWED IT HAD TO GO UNDER THE GEAR LEVER AND OVER RIDE THE PARK BUTTON. I WAS ON A QUIET COUNTRY ROAD. IF I HAD BEEN MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. AT 25 MPH, I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE OFTEN LUNGES/SHIFTS HARD, BUT, LAST WEEK, I WAS DRIVING AND THE ACCELERATION JUST SEEMED TO STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. BUT, I DID CONSIDERED PULLING OFF OF THE ROAD. GOING FOR R05 RECALL SERVICE NEXT WEEK AND WILL GET THIS PROBLEM LOOKED AT - AT THAT TIME.
I HAVE RECEIVED 3 RECALL ALERTS ON DIFFERENT PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. WHEN I CALL THE DEALER THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT FIX BECAUSE CHRYSLER HAS NOT ISSUED/DELIVERED THE PARTS. IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 2/12 MONTHS SINCE THE FIRST RECALL ALERT AND I HAVE GOTTEN TWO MORE ADDITIONAL NOTICES SINCE THEN. ALL ARE SAFETY RELATED ISSUES. UNACCEPTABLE.
A LIST OF THE CURRENT LIFE THREATENING AND NON LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WITH MY JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. THE MOST SERIOUS BEING A PERSISTENT PROBLEM IN RELATION TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND ACCELERATING CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND IN SOME CASES WHIPLASH. AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I HAVE SEEN THE ELECTRONIC REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE AND YET THERE IS STILL PERSISTENT MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED LINT MODE WERE THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FROM GEARS 1, 2, OR 3 ON 65MPH HIGHWAY WHICH I BELIEVE HAS CAUSED IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR. THE ISSUE OCCURRED IN JULY ON ROUTE 202 IN A CATTLE SHOOT CREATED BY SUMMER TIME ROAD WORK I HAD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NEARLY 2 MILES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND ASSES THE ISSUE. BELOW IS A LIST OF CURRENT AND PAST PROBLEMS: -TRANSMISSION STOPPED ON A 65MPH HIGHWAY (NEW SOFTWARE LOADED STILL A PROBLEM) -SHIFTER LOCKED IN DRIVE COULDN'T SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TOOK 4 HOURS TO SHUT CAR OFF AT DEALERSHIP (ENTIRE SHIFTER REPLACED) - NAVIGATION (REPLACED TWO TIMES, ON MY THIRD NAV SYSTEM) - WINDOW MOTOR MECHANISM (REPLACED) - MOONROOF SHADE AND ASSEMBLY (BEING REPLACED THIS WEEK) -FAULTY WIRING OF CIGARETTE LIGHTER CAUSING FUSE TO BLOW DUE TO ELECTRICAL SHORT (REWIRED AND FUSE REPLACED) -SPEAKER (REPLACED) -WATERPROOFING TRIM FALLING OFF (REPLACED) -RATTLING FROM BOLTS FOR SEAT-BELTS (ATTEMPTED FIX DIDN'T WORK) -O2 SENSOR CAUSING MULTIPLE ENGINE STARTS (REPLACED) -FRONT SEAT UNEVEN (REPLACED) -RECALLS RANGING FROM HACKING TO ELECTRICAL SHORTS THAT HAVE BEEN NOTED TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL FIRE
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE DISENGAGED THE TRANSMISSION LEAVING THE CAR TO COAST WITH NO POWER. ENGINE STILL RAN BUT WHEN YOU TRIED TO HIT THE GAS THE VEHICLE JUST COASTED ENDANGERING THE OCCUPANTS. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TWO TIMES MY TEENAGE SON WAS DRIVING ON A NARROW WINDING ROAD. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO JEEP AND EACH TIME THEY SAY IT IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SAID EVERYTHING IS FINE. THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY DISABLING THE VEHICLE. WHEN YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO WORK BUT GIVES YOU A SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR
SHORTLY AFTER STARTING OUR 1500 MILE TRIP ON JULY 14 CROSSING A BRIDGE THE MONACO DIESEL PUSHER MOTORHOME TOWING A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4 LATITUDE WITH ACTIVE DRIVE II SHOOK BADLY FRONT-TO-BACK AND SIDE-TO-SIDE AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NORMALLY A BUMP WILL CAUSE THE MH TO SHAKE FRONT-TO-BACK MOMENTARILY. I GOT OUT AND CHECKED AROUND AND UNDER BOTH VEHICLES AND FOUND NOTHING AMISS. GOT IN AND HEADED ON OUR TRIP. A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT DAY THE MH SHOOK WHEN HITTING A BUMP BUT NOT AS VIOLENTLY AS EARLIER. NO MORE SHAKING ON THE TRIP AND NO APPARENT DAMAGE. THE JEEP HAD BEEN DISENGAGED AND REENGAGED FROM THE MOTORHOME A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH NO SIGN OF DAMAGE. WE TRAVELED FROM BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK TO CAPITAL REEF NP ON 20 JULY OVER A CURVY, HILLY HIGHWAY. AT CAPITOL REEF WE DISCONNECTED THE JEEP AND FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE TOW BAR/TAB HAD DAMAGED THE SHROUD IN THE FRONT OF THE JEEP. WE DROVE THE MH AND JEEP SEPARATELY TO MOAB, UT FOR REPAIRS. WHEN THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE LOWER FRONT SHROUD ON THE JEEP AND INSPECTED THE DAMAGE HE FOUND THE WELDS ON THE JEEP ALUMINUM BRACKET THAT THE TOW-BAR BASE-PLATE WAS FASTENED TO WERE BROKEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CRACKED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WE CONTINUED DRIVING BOTH SEPARATELY TO OUR HOME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPMS INCREASED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE VEHICLE FELT ROUGH WHILE DRIVING IN THIRD GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY INCREASED SPEED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO DECREASE THE VEHICLES SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V509000 (VISIBILITY) BUT THE RECALL REMEDY WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED VIOLENT SHAKING OF MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEING FLAT TOWED BEHIND MY MOTOR HOME. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON THE SAME DAY. VERY SCARY SITUATION. THIS AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES OF TROUBLE-FREE TOWING. THE FIRST TIME WAS OVER AN UNEVEN PATCH OF REPAIRED ROAD. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE JUST HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE. I HAD TO BRING THE RIG TO A COMPLETE STOP TO ELIMINATE THE ROCKING/WOBBLING MOTION OF THE JEEP, WHICH WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE TO ME IN THE REAR VIEW CAMERA. JEEP DEALER WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE FROM DIFFERENT OWNERS SHOULD SUFFICE. THE NEED TO BRING A LARGE RV TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE THE WOBBLING IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. THIS DEFICIENCY IN THE JEEP IS SIMPLY A BAD ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN DEALER SAYS THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ENOUGH OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THEIR SEPARATE COMPLAINTS HAVE DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES OVER. JEEP NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE IT CAUSES MULTIPLE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. I BOUGHT A PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED JEEP CHEROKEE 2014 FROM DAVID'S DODGE, JEEP, AND CHRYSLER LAST WEEK MONDAY, JUNE 6TH, 2015. I HAD A MAJOR ISSUE OCCUR A WEEK LATER ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH THE CAR LOSS TRACTION CONTROL, 4 WHEEL DRIVE, AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS IN A CATTLE SHOOT AND HAD TO COAST THE CAR DOWN THE HIGHWAY TO PULL OVER. A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH WARNINGS ABOUT THE TRACTION CONTROL AND TRANSMISSION WERE SHOWN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH RESULTED IN A HARD JERK FROM MOVING THE CLUTCH FROM DRIVE TO PARK. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS IDLING AT AN ABNORMALLY HIGH RPM. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND NOTICED A JERK ONCE AGAIN WHEN MOVING THROUGH THE GEARS. THE CAR ALSO SHIFTED VERY HARD FOR ABOUT 45 MORE MILES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR REQUIRED AN UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS PREFORMED THAT DAY. AS AN ENGINEER I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE DEALERSHIP SOLD A CAR WITH THE POTENTIAL TO CRASH ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO NEGLIGENCE WITH REGARDS IGNORING A CRUCIAL UPDATE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION THE CAR IS SHIFTING VERY HARD FROM GEAR TO GEAR AND SEEMS TO BE GIVING A SHALLOW SHIFT TO 1ST GEAR WHEN THE CAR IS AT A COMPLETE STOP. MONDAY, 13TH, 2015, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR TWO OTHER ISSUES A SQUEAK IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT AND AN INTERFERENCE ISSUE WITH THE SIRUSXM. AS AN ENGINEER IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS A DEEP UNDERLYING PROBLEM WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION I WILL BE ASKING FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AS THE UPDATE WAS NOT EFFECTIVE CAUSING ROUGH SHIFTING AND A LOSS OF ACCELERATION IN THE SHIFT FROM HIGH TO LOW GEARS.
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION FAILED (WOULD NOT MOVE) 7/5/2015. AFTER TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, CAR WENT INTO SHOP 7/17/2015. CAR WAS RETURNED 8/13 SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. TRANSMISSION FAILED 8/14 AND DEALER PICKED UP CAR 8/15. TO DATE, OCTOBER 21, 2015, THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT 1 IN 10 OF THE 2014 TRANSMISSIONS HAD FAILED. A NEW TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE LOCATED BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING INTO NEW CARS AND THE SUPPLY TO REPAIR THE 2014 WAS LOW. CHRYSLER HAS FAILED TO COMPLY WITH ARKANSAS LEMON LAW TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN ON 7/2/15 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL, I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO A SAFE AREA. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 2 MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN I PULLED AWAY THE TRANS WOULD NOT GO OVER 45 MPH. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. 5 DAYS LATER THEY CHARGED ME $100 FOR A "FLASH" DOWNLOAD TO TRANS. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND WITHIN 48 HOURS THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN (8 TIMES IN 1 DAY), THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN, I DID (ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE, THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME), THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECORDED FAULTS IN THE COMPUTER, A MECHANIC DROVE IT HOME 2 DAYS TO GET IT TO FAIL. 6 DAYS LATER I PICKED IT UP AFTER THEY INSTALLED A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AT NO CHARGE. 24 HOURS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO A SAFE AREA. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 2 MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AS OF YESTERDAY THE CAR IS BACK IN THEIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL CALL THE FACTORY AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO????? THE U-CONNECT TECHNICIAN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER WHO LATER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE RADIO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT READILY AVAILABLE. ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, ON A SLIGHT UPHILL INCLINE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR, SURROUNDED BY OTHER TRAFFIC INCLUDING SEMITRAILERS, THE JEEP ABRUPTLY LOST FORWARD POWER, ACTING LIKE IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTAL. THIS LOSS OF POWER WAS ACCOMPANIED BY FLASHING DASHBOARD INDICATIONS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND BY HORRIFIC CLUNKING SOUNDS AND SHUDDERS FROM UNDERNEATH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT, MIRACULOUSLY, TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING KILLED. EVENTUALLY RESTARTED AND LIMPED TO A DEALER. DEALER KEPT JEEP TWO DAYS, SAID THEY REPLACED A "CONTROL MODULE", AND THAT IT WAS FIXED. NOT SO. ABOUT THIRTY DAYS LATER, AND WITHIN A WEEK OF HAVING THE JEEP CHECKED OVER AT A DIFFERENT DEALER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME AT ABOUT 25 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA DOWN A GENTLE DECLINE. JEEP HAD NO SUGGESTIONS FOR ME OTHER THAN TOW IT SOMEWHERE. LOST A FULL WORKDAY MESSING AROUND WITH THEM SEEKING A SOLUTION. NOW, DAYS LATER, I HAVE NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE DEALER OR FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP EXCEPT AN EMAIL SAYING THAT THE DEALER HAD DISCOVERED "CODES". NO WORD ON WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, OR WHETHER JEEP CAN ACTUALLY FIX IT OR MERELY KEEP TOWING IT AFTER IT LEAVES ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR GETS ME KILLED OR WORSE. THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE JEEP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ,TOOK BACK TO DEALER THEY RESET SYSTEM. I TOOK IN COUPLE MONTHS HAVING THE JEEP FOR SHIFTING HARD , STALLING AND NOT MUCH POWER UP HILLS. THEY OFTEN TOLD ME WHEN TAKING IT TO DEALER THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE MY PROBLEM. AFTER TAKING IN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES ON 5/08/2015 THEY FINALLY REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION , IT HAD DIED ON ME AT A BUSY INTERSECTION WOULDNT SHIFT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHEN GOT MY JEEP BACK STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND AIRCONDITIONER WAS'NT WORKING PROPERLY. SO AS OF NOW MY JEEP BACK AT THE DEALER FOR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN,STALLING,NO POWER, SHIFTING HARD AND DEAD GAS PEDAL AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER TODAY AND HE SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX IT IF SHOWS NO CODE OR HE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THATS THE STORY I GET WHEN TAKING IT TO THE SHOP . WHILE IN MOTION, THE CAR STALLED. THE CAR WOULD NOT THEN SHIFT TO ANY GEAR. AFTER CONTINUOUSLY TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS, THE CAR WOULD JUMP FROM PARK TO DRIVE. LITERALLY JUMP. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME (A FEW BLOCKS) WITH MY HAZARDS ON PRAYING ALL THE WAY. I CALLED HUNTINGTON BEACH JEEP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPT. I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE FIXED. I TRIED TO UPGRADE OUT OF THE SHOTTY CHEROKEE TO A GRAND CHEROKEE FOR SAFETY REASONS BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT FORGIVE THE NEGATIVE EQUITY IN THE CAR AS WE'VE HAD IT FOR A YEAR. HE INSISTED WE PUT MORE MONEY DOWN AND HAVE A CAR PAYMENT OF $600-700 DOLLARS. WE REFUSED. WE FEEL JEEP DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY BUT ONLY THE NUMBER OF CARS THEY SELL EACH MONTH WHICH IS A SAME. THANK GOD WE DIDN'T HAVE A CAR ACCIDENT AS THEY MY FAMILY WOULD BE PLANNING A FUNERAL. MAYBE THAT IS WHAT IT WILL TAKE.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAR LEFT LANE ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 68 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED FUNCTIONING. IT LEFT ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I HAD TO SLOWLY DRIFT TO THE SHOULDER LANE WITH FAST VEHICLES APPROACHING BEHIND ME. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR-ENDED AT A 65+MPH SPEED AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY AT A NORMAL SPEED. I WAS AT THE MERCY OF CARS BEHIND ME THAT NOTICED MY HAZARDS AND SLOWED DOWN TO LET ME OVER. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE BEGAN TO DISPLAY AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE MESSAGE DISPLAY INSTRUCTED ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK THEN BACK INTO DRIVE. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER I DID AS THE DISPLAY MESSAGE INSTRUCTED BUT STILL ONCE IN DRIVE MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL WHILE PRESSING ON THE GAS. AFTER 4 ATTEMPTS I DECIDED TO TRY TO MANUALLY SHIFT THE GEARS WHICH FINALLY GOT MY CAR MOVING. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE TOMORROW. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 8,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE HAD IT FOR LESS THAN 1 YEAR.
4 SEPERATE OCCASATIONS THE TRANSMISSION HAS WENT WACKY ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST WHILE DRIVING, IT BECAME UNCONTROLABLE AND JERKY TO THE POINT I ALMOST RAN A STOP SIGN, AND NEARLY RAN OFF THE ROAD. THE NEXT THREE TIME I WAS PARKED BUT THE TRANSMISSION SAYS IT WAS IN PARK, BUT STILL GIVES AWAY AND IF YOUR NOT QUICK ON THE BRAKES IT WILL ROLL AWAY. HAVE GOTTEN A LOOK LIKE I'M MAKING THIS STUFF UP AT THE DEALERSHIP EACH AND EVERY TIME. THEY JUST JUST RESET THE CODES, THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. FINALLY, THEY AGREED IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE.

THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE THE OIL LEVEL IS BELOW A CERTAIN LEVEL,HOWEVER THE OIL IS NOT AT A LOW OIL LEVEL ACCORDING TO THE DIPSTICK. DEALERSHIP SAID WE HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL EVERY TIME WE DRIVE OUR VEHICLE. 3 MONTHS AFTER ORDERING MY JEEP THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING REALLY HARD AND MAKING NOISES, THEN STARTED TO LEAK FLUID. TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY COULDN'T MOVE IT FROM THE SHOW FLOOR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. TOOK THEM 30 + DAYS TO GET MY CAR BACK TO ME. DIDN'T INSTALL THE TRANSMISSION CORRECTLY AND THEY BROKE THE GUARD, AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF. AFTER MULTIPLE RETURN TRIPS TO CORRECT THE HARD SHIFTING THIS CAR WAS DEEMED A LEMON.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 50MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT A SERIES OF MESSAGES: "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" "4WD NOT AVAILABLE".PUT GEAR INTO DRIVE" I WAS ON A RAMP MERGING TO ANOTHER FREEWAY WITH VERY LITTLE ROOM ON THE SIDE I SHIFTED THE CAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK, DASH MESSAGE SAID TO SHIFT BACK INTO PARK, AND THEN INTO DRIVE. WHEN I SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A VERY LOUD BANG (LIKE SOMEBODY HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE WITH A MALLET) THE ENGINE INDICATOR WAS FLASHING AND THE ERROR MESSAGES WERE COMING UP ON THE SCREEN. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD THIS ISSUE. LAST TIME I HAD TO SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND WAIT ABOUT 30MIN FOR THE COMPUTER TO RESET BEFORE I COULD START IT AND SHIFT INTO GEAR. LAST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BUT OBVIOUSLY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME.

DEALERSHIP REPORTS THAT THIS IS STANDARD SHIFTING AND PERFORMANCE FOR JEEPS AND NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. DEALERSHIP RETURNED VEHICLE WITH NO SERVICE PERFORMED. STILL HARD SHIFTS, LAGGING, RATTLING AND AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL.
WHILE DESCENDING DOWN A HILL WITH A MODERATE SLOPE, I APPLIED LIGHT BRAKING TO SLOW MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE SLIGHTLY. DURING THE LIGHT BRAKING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR AND THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED FROM APPROXIMATELY 1500 RPM TO 3000 RPM. THIS WOULD SEEM TO BE NORMAL, EXCEPT THAT RATHER THAN SLOWING THE VEHICLE DOWN, THE LOWER GEAR ACTUALLY CAUSED IT TO SPEED UP, WHICH THEN REQUIRED MORE BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, FORTUNATELY, THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE GOOD. IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR DURING WET OR ICY ROAD CONDITIONS, THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THE VEHICLE WILL SKID. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALSO SLIPPED DURING ACCELERATION, WHICH CAN ALSO CREATE SAFETY HAZARDS, AS WELL AS FUTURE QUALITY ISSUES. FCA HAS HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THEIR NEW JEEP CHEROKEES, BUT DO NOT APPEAR WILLING TO FIND A SERIOUS SOLUTION TO A SERIOUS PROBLEM. PLEASE CONSIDER FORCING A RECALL ON THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE, BEFORE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES BEGIN TO OCCUR.
I BOUGHT MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BRAND NEW OFF OF THE LOT ON 4/25/2015. WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON IT I NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HESITATE FROM A STOP, AND SEEM ALMOST LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE A "LAG" WHEN I ACCELERATED GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE AND BE JERKY WHEN IT SHIFTED AT TIMES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE JEEP DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES FOR THIS AND IS SCHEDULED TO GO AGAIN ON 8/31/2015. THIS TIME IT IS LUNGING AFTER BACKING OUT OF GARAGE AND GOING INTO DRIVE. IT IS SCARY WHEN IT FINALLY GRABS THE GEAR IT ACTUALLY SQUEALS THE BACK TIRES. THE 1ST TIME ON 6/3/15 THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR PCM, & TCM. 2ND TIME 6/23/15 THE DEALER DID A TCM SOFTWARE UPDATE 181905BK .3 02-19-05-95 .4. THIS TIME I RODE AROUND WITH THE MECHANIC TO 1/2 HR AFTER HE DID THE UPDATE. MOST OF THE TIME THESE ISSUES HAPPEN AT LOWER SPEEDS, BUT NOW I HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY TOO. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYMORE.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND THEN SHUT DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND FEARED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY BECAUSE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER TRYING FOR 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO GET SAFELY OFF THE HIGHWAY. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE NEARBY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT AND NO INFORMATION IN THE DATABASE STATING SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THEY GAVE ME THE OKAY TO DRIVE THE CAR. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY STALLED AND SHUT DOWN. IT TOOK 15 MINUTES TO START BACK UP AGAIN THIS TIME. KNOWING THE DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T BELIEVE ME. I HAD SOMEONE FILM IT HAPPENING AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN THE SAFETY OF A QUIET LOT. READING ABOUT ALL THE OTHER INSTANCES IN WHICH THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS HAS ME VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN THIS CAR. I HAVE NO DESIRE TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN EVEN IF THEY TELL ME IT IS COMPLETELY FIXED BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING OR HOW TO PERMANENTLY FIX THIS. I'M ASTOUNDED THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. THIS IS CLEARLY A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
WHEN GOING FROM A STOPPED OR SLOW SPEED TO A QUICKER SPEED THE JEEP DOES NOT RESPOND. IT STALLS, SOMETIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD, THEN WILL SUDDENLY KICK VERY HARD AND FINALLY GET GOING. THE CA DOES THIS IF I AM MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, GOING ON A GREEN LIGHT, OR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC (TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT). THE WAY IT IS ACTING IT IS EXTREMELY LIKELY THAT I WILL BE HIT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAVE TAKE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND TOLD TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. ONE SAYING THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THEY DID THAT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT, WOULD NOT EXPLAIN THE UPDATE TO ME. THE OTHER SAYING THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OPERATING FINE AND THAT THIS IS JUST THE "NEW 9 GEAR TRANSMISSION DECIDING ON A GEAR"

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED MOVING AND THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" AND "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" SENSOR WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE UPSHIFTED WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED AND THEN RETURNED TO ORIGINAL SHIFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER RECALL, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THERE IS PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER COMING OUT OF A TURN OR EVEN JUST TAKING MY FOOT OF THE GAS FOR A SECOND AND THEN STEPPING ON THE GAS THERE IS A "DEAD PEDAL" FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AS THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOTHING. THE DEALER SAYS THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM HOWEVER SINCE THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX THE DEALER NOTES ON MY INVOICE THAT IS IS NORMAL AND BY DESIGN. THIS CONDITION WHERE THE CAR BASICALLY STALLS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT I COULD GET REAR ENDED WHILE MY VEHICLE TRIES TO FIGURE OUT IF IT WANTS TO DOWNSHIFT OR NOT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT USED THE REMOTE TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE, HOWEVER, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE LIFTGATE WITH THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON, IT FAILED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE LIFTGATE. THE CONTACT LATER TRIED AGAIN AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTGATE CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V393000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
