There are 25 owner-reported speed control & cruise complaints for the 2019 Jeep Cherokeein NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
The car only has 79 miles and the transmission is slugglisg it has a delay in it when you accelerate. and lots of 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus have been recalled for the transmission. Just not my VIN number, but my car is having an exact same problem as the other 2019.
The Parking Assist, parking, ABS warning continues. There is a recall on the year model but not my VIN. I have not even been able to afford the sales tax (over 1000 USD) and dealer refuses to assist with the cost of diagnostic or malfunction repair.
I was driving down the interstate in the mountainous region of Montana. While coming down the hill, I lost all power in my vehicle. My car continued to slow down, unable to accelerate. I had multiple warnings/things flash across my screen that identified that I no longer had access to them. After about 30 minute or more of driving slower and slower, able to initially go 30 mph, then it continued to decrease. I was maybe to go 10 mph up a hill to try to get to the next town. I inched my way to the dealership to drop my car off. I know there is a recall on my vehicle for something related to power however in the past year, every time I take it to dealer, they say there is nothing available to fix it. I now have no vehicle and I could have easily been hit from behind during the time where I continued to lose power in the vehicle. It was a terrifying feeling to know I could be stranded on a mountain road with no cell service, etc. If there is something wrong with a vehicle because of manufacture errors, then they need to do something ASAP or provide me a new car immediately for my safety and well being. If the whole 2019 model of Jeep is an issue, then provide me a new vehicle. This is not the first issue I had with this car. Early on after purchasing it, my dash lights would all disappear while driving down the road. No speedometer, nothing. The area where the radio and other communication is at, got so hot that one could not even touch it. They did eventually replace whatever caused that problem but that was a safety issue as well. Last year I was in a car accident because I stepped on the gas to go, and there was nothing and then all of a sudden it took off and by then the car in front of me stopped. This is when I realized there is a significant problem with the power of the car. The dealer said it was probably related to the recall but don't have a way to address it.
My svc 4wd light came on in November of 2024. Took it to the dealer same month, they said my ptu failed and they couldn't do anything for it bc the parts were jot available. They weren't available on back order even. I paid for $130 dollars just to be told that they couldn't do anything. While at the dealer after they told me this news I went and talked to a salesmen, they told me they couldn't take the jeep in on trade bc they don't know when they could get the part so they would loose money with it sitting. Recall came out on this in January 2025 and it now is February of 2026..I'm still waiting. The car is unstable and is basically worthless and a death trap in rain and is worse in snow. I got offered a rental out of my own pocket. I'm still making payments on this and I can't even fix it. The cars going to kill me and then what. Nothing. I was told in November of 2025 that they were hoping to have this fixed by the end of the year. Well it's February and nothing, I think they are just lieing. People are going to get hurt or killed bc of the stability.
I was driving in city traffic and when I tried to accelerate, the Jeep would not increase in speed. It caught per se and nothing happened. Then, the Jeep started downshifting very hard upon slowing. When we went to the dealer and spoke with the technician, he immediately said that the computer needed updating. He said he's been seeing this a lot in these models. Sure enough, $300 dollars later and an upgraded computer, it is driving fine. I want to add that the dealer and service department was great, I just think this problem is somehow on Jeep's end.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly accelerated. The RPM had increased to a high level. The 4WD service message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, there was an abnormal dinging sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where it was determined that the PTU was blocked and not working. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
The car lost acceleration power when driving, showed no codes, and displayed a message to shift to park and restart car. This incident happened twice including after the car was taken to the dealer, who could not find anything wrong with the car. A google search revealed several 2018 vehicles with that problem and a recall for 2017 models and earlier; however, the 2018 model has not been recalled and should be.
In January of 2021 I was driving my vehicle out of the car wash when it suddenly accelerated on its own across a busy roadway out of the parking lot. The vehicle was going 65 MPH without my foot on the gas. I had to keep my foot on the brake to control its speed and get myself to work that way. I got the car to stop in those parking lot and put the vehicle in Park. The RPMs shot up to 5000, the Stop Start and a couple of other warning lights were on. I shut the vehicle off, restarted it and then it was fine as if nothing ever happened. After work I brought the vehicle to the dealer, they checked the OBD computer and verified that the incident happened. They replaced some sensor and everything was fine until May 20th, 2021. On that day the vehicle started to accelerate on its own again. I immediately pulled into a Walmart parking lot, put the vehicle in Park, took a picture of the dashboard to show the dealer and turned the vehicle off. I did not run the car long enough for the warning lights to come on. I restarted the vehicle and again it was as if nothing happened. I bright the vehicle to my dealership and as of 06/08/2021 it is still there waiting on Chrysler to figure something out. The dealer cannot fix it unless they can get it to happen again because I did not run the car long enough for the OBD computer to register and record the second incident as per Chrysler’s policy.
My vehicle has has these issues since I bought them but were unaware of how to report them. I also got a recall letter about my PTU failure and Feldman Jeep in Livonia falsely reported the recall completed and it wasn’t. My car is noisy and vibrational when driving higher speeds, service 4wd messages and noise when I turn the automatic brakes off.
THE STARTER WENT BAD AROUND 40,000 MILES. SOMETIMES IT STARTS OTHER TIMES IT TAKES HOURS TO START. I ALWAYS GET A NOTIFACTION THAT SAYS STARTER PROTECTION MODE ENGIN WARMING AFTER A FEW FAILED START ATTEMPTS. THE CAR STALLS OUT OFTEN. ANY TURNS SHUT THE CAR OFF. OIL MUST BE ADDED TWICE A MONTH TO FIX THE STALL ISSUE. HALF THE TIME IT SAYS 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND CRUISE CONTROL UNAVAILABLE. THIS JEEP IS A LEMON. A DISASTROUS PURCHASE. SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE STARTERS AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. 2 YEAR OLD CAR COSTING ME 900 TO FIX STARTER IS A JOKE.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE DETECTED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE STOPPED OR ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO RESPOND AND IS ONGOING. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TWICE TO RON LEWIS AUTOMOTIVE GROUP (600 CLAIRTON BLVD, PITTSBURGH, PA 15236, (412) 655-7500) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WORKED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,500.*DT*JB
THERE JEEP HAS DIFFERENT ACCELERATION THAT ARE UNSAFE. WITH REGULAR DRIVING YOU CAN GIVE IT GAS AND IT'S SLOW GOING THEN SOME TIMES IT WILL JUMP PICKING UP SPEED FAST. THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUSH THE ACCELERATOR DOWN THE SANE WITH EITHER WAY IT SPEED UP. MY CONCERN IS IF IM BEHIND SOMEONE AT A LIGHT AND I GO TO TAKE OFF IT MIGHT DO THE THING WHERE IT PICKS UP SPEED FAST AND I RUN IN BACK OF SOMEONE. THIS ISN'T SAFE AT ALL. *TR
MY 16 MONTH OLD JEEP TURNS OFF WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE PRIOR TWO WEEKS. NO WARNING LIGHTS--THE CAR JUST TURNS OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THIS IS DUE TO A DROP IN OIL PRESSURE, BUT THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO THE GUIDELINES WITHIN THE MANUAL WHICH STATES TO CHANGE THE OIL WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THAT IT SHOULD NEVER GO BEYOND 10,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE ISSUE WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE REALITY IS THAT THE OIL NEEDS CHANGED EVERY 4,000 MILES AND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES REDUCES THE LIKELIHOOD OF THIS OCCURRING. MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED AND THE SECOND TIME IT WAS ON A 45 MILE AN HOUR ROAD. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND YET CHRYSLER/JEEP DOES NOTHING TO RESOLVE IT.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PRIOR TO THE FAILURE THE KEY FOB WAS LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS OPENED SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED TO REVERSE. THE REVERSE ALERT AUDIO CHIMED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ACCELERATED IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MYRTLE BEACH JEEP CHRYSLER (785 JASON BLVD, MYRTLE BEACH, SC 29577 843-448-1191) WERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD AS WELL AS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AS THE CONTACT NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,070.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 55 MPH GOING DOWNHILL THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED, THE RPM REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE SPED UP TO 70 MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. A CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE MANUFACTURER AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
2019 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED 2.4L TURBO. DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE, RPM'S WILL INCREASE BY 2000 AND WILL NOT SLOW DOWN UNTIL CRUISE IS DISENGAGED. ALSO WHILE DRIVING IN CITY IN SURFACE ROADS WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL, THE CAR WILL JUST STOP ACCELERATING EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL. CAR COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE ENGINE STILL RUNNING. HAD TO TURN OFF CAR AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CANE ON WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED WITH MESSAGE OF "CHECK THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR". LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO DEALER. DEALER SAID THE COULD NOT FIND A CODE OR DUPLICATE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LAST TIME ON 1/11/2020
JEEP DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. STILL HAS OTHER ISSUES STATED IN OTHER COMPLAINT; GRINDING, LURCHING. THIS CAR IS A FAIL. FILED A LEMON CLAIM THAT WAS IGNORED AND AM ABOUT TO RE FILE FOR ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS OCCURRING. I CAN'T USE CRUISE CONTROL BECAUSE THE RPMS GET WAAAY TOO HIGH FOR ME TO TRUST. THE HILLS BETWEEN PAYSON AZ AND SHOW LOW AZ ARE TOO MUCH FOR THE COMPUTER TO MANAGE, I'M WORRIED THE ENGINE WILL BLOW. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED. NOW I KNOW WHY. THEY ARE RECALLED. THIS IS A DEATH TRAP I AM PAYING 32K FOR, AND I AM LIVID. I WILL NEVER BUY JEEP AGAIN.
I NOTICED A LAG IN A INCREASE IN SPEED & STALLING IN THE ENGINE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION.
BRAND NEW JEEP RAIL HAWK 34 MILES AT TIME OF PURCHASE 410 MILES KNOCK SENSOR AND CHECK ENGINE 1812 MILES ETC AND MAP SENSOR 2325 MILES ETC THE LAST TWO TIMES LOST ALL THROTTLE AND NO POWER GOING UP VAIL PASS IN CO. ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI AND HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER, LIMP MODE.
