MY COMMANDER IS STALLING WHILE DRIVING. AND AT TIMES JUST WILL NOT START. SEVERAL INCIDENTS DATING BACK TO YEARS. . I BOUGHT THIS COMMANDER NEW, NO MILES. ONE INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING GOING OVER 50 MPH AND ALL DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT JUST STALLED. ANOTHER TIME STALLED SITTING AT RED LIGHT AND ALL DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT STALLED. AND OVER 10 TIMES IT JUST WON'T START. RIGHT NOW IT IS BROKE DOWN, JUST WON'T START. OVER THE YEARS I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STARTER IT WAS REPLACE 8/3/2010 (I HAD TO PAY FOR STARTER, LABOR AND TOWING) THEN NEXT TIME I REPLACED THE BATTERY. AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEMS. I DID A CHECK ON RECALLS AND FOUND THE 2008 COMMANDERS WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASONS. WHY HAVEN'T THE 2006 COMMANDERS BEEN RECALLED? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. I COULD BE IN A WRECK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE CHILDREN IN MY COMMANDER AGE 17 MONTHS AND 8 MONTHS. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A EXISTING PROBLEM FOR OTHER YEAR COMMANDERS, THEY FIXED THEM WHY NOT MINE??? AND I FEEL SINCE CHRYSLER ACCEPTED THIS RECALL IN OTHER YEARS AND IF I WRECK CHRYSLER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY WRECK AND ANY INJURIES. ALL I WANT IS FOR CHRYSLER TO FIX MY COMMANDER.... *TR
WHEN I BOUGHT MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER FROM BURNS MOTORS I DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE (PLASTIC CUP WHERE HANDLE GOES) WAS CRACKED. SURE ENOUGH WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HE LEANED HIS KNEE ON THE DOOR AND THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND HANDLE CUP CAME OFF IN ABOUT 3-4 PIECES. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE CUP WAS ALSO CRACKED, SO WITHIN A FEW MONTHS IT CAME OFF IN SEVERAL PIECES TOO. NOW WITH ABOUT 2 YEARS WITH THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES BROKEN. I HAVE ALSO GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AND GOT AN ESTIMATE OF ABOUT 1,200 FOR 2 DOORS ONLY. I HAVE ALSO CHECK FOR PARTS ONLINE AND YOU NEED TO A DOOR TO GET THIS PIECE WHICH RANGES FROM 600 TO 1000 DOLLARS FOR 1 DOOR. NOW I AM STARTING TO GET VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY ISSUES SINCE I HAVE 3 KIDS AND WOULDN'T EVEN WHAT TO THINK, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I NEEDED TO GET OUT IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY PASSENGER COMPANIONS FIND IT VERY FRUSTRATING TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OR WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO OPEN DOOR FOR THEM. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL SINCE WE ARE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FROM CHRYSLER COMPANY. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY CONCERN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED FOLLOWED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. HE WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD AND RESTART IT. THE DEALER CLEANED THE PCM AND REPLACED THE DRIVERS DOOR WIRING HARNESS. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,150 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,300.
THERE ARE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE, OTHER THAN NORMAL OPENING AND CLOSING OF DOORS. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AND THE DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKING AND BREAKING OFF. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE IS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND MY DAUGHTER CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR UNLESS SHE OPENS THE WINDOW AND USES THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE DRIVER SIDE BACK PASSENGER DOOR HAS NOW DONE THE SAME THING. THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE IS NOW CRACKING AND I AM AFRAID IT WILL DO THE SAME THING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS THAT IF THE CAR WERE TO WRECK AND POWER WINDOWS COULDN'T BE USED, MY PASSENGERS WOULD BE UNABLE TO GET OUT. *KB
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES EASILY BREAK INSIDE OF THE JEEP COMMANDERS. IF IT DOES BREAK, GETTING OUT OF THE CAR IN AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER EMERGENCY MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE. *TR
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS IN TOWN TRAVELING ABOUT 30-35 MPH, THE CAR I WAS FOLLOWING SWITCHED LANES AND I HIT A CAR THAT WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAD BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH OF IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT THAT SOMETIMES DOES THAT. I FIGURED THE ELECTRONICS PROBABLY DIDN;T LIKE ALL THE WATER THAT POURS INTO THE FRAME AND ONTO THE DRIVERS FLOOR.
I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AND I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO HAVE THE BOLTS IN THE MANIFOLD REPLACED THREE TIMES NOW. WE BOUGHT THE JEEP BRAND NEW IN AUG. 06. THE FIRST TIME THE BOLTS BROKE WERE IN MAY 08, THE 2ND TIME WAS JULY 09 AND NOW APR 10. THE FIRST TIME THE BOLTS BROKE THE JEEP WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THE OTHER 2 TIMES I'VE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR EVERYDAY USE AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR THESE BOLTS TO KEEP BREAKING. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT, BUT GOT NO WHERE. THE FIRST INCIDENT I HAD ONE BROKEN BOLT, THE 2ND TIME THERE WERE 3 BOLTS BROKEN AND THIS TIME THERE ARE 2 BROKEN. WE HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND NEVER ONCE HAD TO REPLACE BOLTS IN THE MANIFOLD UNTIL PURCHASING THIS JEEP. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT BOLTS BREAKING OFF IN THE MANIFOLD IS NOT A NORMAL THING THAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING. THE COMMANDER WE OWN HAS AN 8 CYLINDER ENGINE IN IT. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER LTD 5.7L. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLASH RANDOMLY. LOSS OF POWER AND CAR STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME VEHICLE BUT WITH A DIFFERENT ENGINE SIZE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT THIS MODEL EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER (HEMI 5.7) ENGINE STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER AT 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. MY 3 KIDS, WIFE AND IMYSELF COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IT HAS ALSO STALLED 4 OTHER TIMES ON THE ROAD AT SLOW SPEEDS. ALL THE ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ARE LOST AND THE VEHICLE STALLES UNTIL I SHUT IT OFF THEN ON AGAIN. *TR
THE PROBLEM BEGAN INITIALLY IN 4/2010 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 53,165 MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE WOULD IDLE ROUGHLY, THE ESP/BAS INDICATOR WOULD COME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THE TRACTION ASSIST INDICATOR WOULD ALL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. AS SOON AS ALL THE INDICATORS WOULD LIGHT THE CAR WOULD HANDLE POORLY, NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, AND AT TIMES SIMPLY STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND UPON INSPECTION THEY FOUND THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD MELTED AND COME APART THUS IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $485 WHICH WAS FINE CONSIDERING THE CAR OVERALL HAD NOT GIVEN ME MANY MAJOR PROBLEMS SO I PROCEEDED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO THE SAME PROBLEMS BEGAN HAPPENING AGAIN (THE ENGINE WOULD IDLE ROUGHLY, THE ESP/BAS INDICATOR WOULD COME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THE TRACTION ASSIST INDICATOR WOULD ALL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME) SO I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND UPON INSPECTION THEY FOUND THAT ONCE AGAIN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD MELTED AND COME APART THUS IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST THIS TIME OF $685, MIND YOU THE CAR NOW HAS 96,057 MILES. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD LASTED ONLY 42,901 MILES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. I VOICED MY CONCERNS TO MY SERVICE ADVISOR AND HE STATED THAT THE FIRST TIME THE UPPER MANIFOLD HAD GONE BAD AND THAT THIS TIME THE LOWER MANIFOLD HAD GONE BAD, THAT MAY VERY WELL BE THE CASE BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE INVOICES THE PART NUMBERS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME (53032774AA). I UNDERSTAND THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH SO I AM NOW APPEALING TO YOU AS IT SEEMS THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS A FACTORY DEFECT AS IT LITERALLY MELTS AND BEGINS TO COME APART ESPECIALLY WITH THE EXTREMELY HOT WEATHER IN SOUTH FLORIDA EVERY 40,000 MILES OR SO. *TR
VECHILE WILL TURN OFF WHILE RUNNING AND BRAKES AND STEERING WILL GO OUT,RANDOMLY LIGHTS,AC AND DECK LIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF. OVER TEMP TRANSMISSION GOES OFF RANDOMLY. *TR
THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN TO GIVE YOU THE BEST IDEA OF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. IT CONSISTANTLY SPEEDS UP TO 20MPH OVER WHAT I INTEND IT TO BE SET AT. FOR EXAMPLE, IF I SET IT AT 40MPH IT WILL SPEED UP TO 60MPH INSTANTLY ON ITS OWN. 1. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS 2. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME THE CRUISE CONTROL IS SET TO ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE FAILS TO MAINTIAN THE SET CRUISE SPEED BY SPEEDING UP ON ITS OWN. THE MOST LIKELY CONSEQUENCE WILL BE A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. 3. THE DEALER IS BEING CONTACTED TODAY FOR REPORT AND POSSIBILITY OF REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED FOLLOWED BY AN ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER'S ROOF IS RUSTING. I NOTICED IT IN MARCH 2010. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF BIRD POOP AND WILL ONLY PAY HALF THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED. IT COSTS $1,600.00. I DO NOT HAVE $800.00. ANOTHER BODY SHOP I TOOK THE JEEP TO SAID IT WAS RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT, THEREFORE I THINK IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE ROOF. *TR
ALL OF THE DOOR HANDLES/OPENERS ON ALL (4) DOORS ARE DEFECTIVE CAUSED FROM NORMAL USAGE ON VERY POOR PLASTIC MATERIAL THAT GETS BRITTLE AFTER A WHILE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING THAT UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE READ WERE A JEEP COMMANDER LIKE MINE HAS WRECKED INTO A BODY OF WATER AND ALL OF THE WINDOWS SHORTED OUT AND THE PERSON COULD NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE AND DIED. PLEASE HANDLE THIS MATTER CORRECTLY BEFORE THERE ARE ANY MORE DEATHS. THANK YOU. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN ON MY JEEP WHICH DO NOT ALLOW A PASSENGER TO EXIT THE CAR. POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THE DOOR HANDLES AND THE OWNER HAS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR WHICH IS ABOUT $550. PER DOOR. *TR
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) 2006 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED V8 HEMI, JEEP STALLS ON HIGHWAY ANY SPEEDS, IT LOCKS UP AND SHUTS DOWN. AFTER I PULL OVER ITS STARTS UP AGAIN. THE JEEP HAS STALLED MANY TIMES MORE THAN 20 SINCE I OWNED IT. I HAVE HAD THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS REPLACED ALSO A NEW STARTER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STILL SAY THE CAM OR CRANK SENSORS THE PROBLEM I SPENDING WAY TO MUCH MONEY GETTING THE JEEP PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND COMING UP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH IN REVERSE, THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS; HOWEVER, A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED, AND THE SECOND MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 37,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT WAS EXITING A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEED WHEN THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED ABNORMALLY. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHEN DRIVING AT LEAST 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECT IN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE. MOST RECENTLY, THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR BECAME STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS AWAITING A RETURN CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, ALL OF THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS, INCLUDING THE CONTROL PANEL, BEGAN BLINKING RAPIDLY BEFORE COMPLETELY FAILING. THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONER ALSO FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND UPON RESTARTING, RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND DID NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY AND WOULD OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 AND ALL THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE BROKEN. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAVE THREE KIDS THAT SIT IN THE BACKSEATS AND WHEN IT IS TIME TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THEY CANT GET THE DOORS TO OPEN. I HAVE TO WORK WITH MY DOOR HANDLE TO GET IT TO OPEN AND THEN GO TO THEIR DOOR TO OPEN IT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE ON ALL BUT ONE DOOR U CAN ONLY EXIT OUT WHEN SOMEONE OPENS THE DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. *TR

WILL STALL AT ANYTIME WITH LOSS OF ALL POWER (STEERING AND BRAKING) AND ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. HAPPENED MORE THAN 30+ TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2006. SINCE THEN, EVEN WHEN THE SERVICE ADVISER EXPERIENCE THE VEHICLE STALL IN THEIR SERVICE DROP OFF AREA THE VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOR CODES CAME ON SO THE DEALER CAN NOT TRACE THE ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS STILL IN FACTORY WARRANTY AND IS NOW IN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT NEEDS A TUNE UP ($700.00). WE HAD IT SERVICE FOR THE TUNE UP AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE DEALER THEN STATED THAT WE NEEDED TO CHANGE THE BATTERY ($300.00), SO WE HAD IT SERVICED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE STILL CONTINUE TO STALL. CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP. AND SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS STALLING ISSUE. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A REPLY BACK FROM THEM IN 3 WEEKS NOW. I DON'T WANT MY FAMILY OR ANY OTHER FAMILIES OUT THERE TO BE THE FIRST TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT FOR CHRYSLER CORP. TO TAKE ACTION. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER, AND HAVE 3 DOORS IN WHICH THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BEZEL HAS BROKEN. BY RESEARCHING PRICE OF REPAIR, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY A VERY COMMON ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS MY OWN FAULT FOR BEING TOO ROUGH ON MY DOOR HANDLES, HOWEVER I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I'VE OWNED. I HAVE 3 DAUGHTERS RANGING IN AGE FROM 18 MONTHS TO 14 YEARS, AND I DOUBT THEY SHOULD BE STRONG ENOUGH TO BREAK DOOR HANDLES. I'M REPORTING THIS AS I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER, IN LIGHT OF THE MULTITUDE OF EXAMPLES I'M FINDING ON THE INTERNET, AND IN TALKING TO OTHER COMMANDER OWNERS. APPARENTLY THERE IS/WAS A DEFECT IN EITHER THE DESIGN OR PRODUCTION OF THE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY IN THE 2006 JEEP COMMANDERS. THE PLASTIC HOUSING WHICH CONTAINS THE DOOR OPENING MECHANISM BECOMES TOO BRITTLE AND CRACKS RENDERING THE OPENING MECHANISM INOPERABLE. ON MY COMMANDER ALL BUT ONE DOOR IS AFFECTED. AT THE MOMENT, ONLY TWO OUT OF THE FOUR DOORS WORK, THE FRONT-SIDE PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER-SIDE REAR. IF THIS VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THERE WAS A NEED TO EXIT QUICKLY (FIRE OR WATER), THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY WOULD BE IN EXTREME JEOPARDY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED SUDDENLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED DAILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER 3-4 TIMES BUT THE FAILURE STILL COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
THE STALLING PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP STARTED THE FIRST WEEK I BOUGHT IT. IT HAD 17,000 MILES. IT WOULD IDLE AND THEN STALL AT STOP LIGHTS OR WHEN PARKED OR JUST SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. SINCE JANUARY 2009 I'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS, THE HEAT, AND RADIO FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING AND ALL THE GAUGES FLUCTUATE; DURING THIS TIME THERE IS ALSO A CLICKING SOUND. I'VE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND PAID $100 TO HAVE THEIR COMPUTER EVALUATE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS. RECENTLY, ON 12/11/09 WHEN THE FLASHING WAS CONSTANT FOR OVER 5 MILES OF DRIVING, I BROUGHT IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER FOR AN IMMEDIATE EVALUATION. I ASKED IF OTHERS REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS I WAS TOLD "NO", SO I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO SEE THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS IN YOUR DATABASE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS. THE SERVICE MANAGERS ALWAYS WANT ME TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURERS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS. SINCE THE PRESENCE OF THE BURNING ODOR, THE AIR CONDITIONER NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THERE WAS ALSO A FAILURE WITHIN THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, IN WHICH THE WINDOW WOULD ROLL DOWN WHEN THE BUTTON WAS ENGAGED TO MAKE THE WINDOW ROLL UP, AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS WOULD INVOLUNTARILY TURN ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

DRIVING MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER ON 635E IN DALLAS, TX, THE CAR JUST DIED GOING 70 MPH WITH 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC, AND I WAS IN THE LANE NEXT TO THE HOV LANE AND IT HAD NOT SHOULDER, JUST A CONCRETE WALL. RATHER THAT CROSS 4 LANES OF HEAVY FAST TRAFFIC WITH NO ACCELERATION IN THE CAR, I WENT INTO THE HOV LANE WHICH HAD LESS TRAFFIC AND GOT REAR ENDED BUT WAS NOT A SERIOUS WRECK AS IT WELL COULD HAVE BEEN. I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND STARTED IT AND TOOK THE NEXT EXIT AND REPORTED THE ACCIDENT TO THE POLICE. WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED UP RECALLS FOR MY JEEP AND FOUND THE V8 ENGINE HAD A RECALL ON THE FRONT CONTROL MODULE SINCE THE CAR WOULD STALL ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR IS A V6. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID I SHOULD TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP 50 MILES AWAY TO "SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR TO FIND THE PROBLEM" IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE TO FIX THE DAMAGE FROM THE REAR END COLLISION AND THANK MY LUCK STARS I AM STILL ALIVE TO FIX IT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT TO GO OVER A BRIDGE WHEN THE DASHBOARD LIGHT STARTING BLINKING ON AND OFF. THE CAR THEN STALLED AND I LOST ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO PULL OVER WITH OUT INCIDENT. THE CAR THEN DID START RIGHT BACK UP. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND COMPONENTS TO BLINK 2 OTHER TIMES SINCE (TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING IS THE MOST RECENT TIME). LUCKILY THE CAR DID NOT STALL THESE OTHER TIMES. HOWEVER, WHEN IT BEGINS TO HAPPEN I CANNOT START FREAKING OUT THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO ALL OF A SUDDEN SHUT DOWN. *TR
I FILED A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT REGARDING MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 5.7 L HEMI REGARDING THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THE HESITATION YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PCM SENSOR NEEDED REPLACED AND IT HAS BEEN BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. WE HAVE HAD THE O2 SENSOR REPLACED TWICE, THE GAS FILTER REPLACED, TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER CHANGED, MY JEEP HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MANY TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON SOME VISITS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN IF MY JEEP WERE TO STALL FROM HESITATION THIS COULD CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO FROM HERE BUT I WILL KEEP ON GOING UNTIL I GET SOMEONE TO LISTEN AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM OR TAKE THESE VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. *KB
BASICALLY THE DOOR HANDLE MECHANISMS DISINTEGRATED. THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOOR PLASTIC THAT SURROUNDS THE DOOR HANDLES BROKE INTO SEVERAL SMALL PIECES AND FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. I FEEL THIS IS A DANGER BECAUSE EVENTUALLY THE CABLE THAT OPENS THE DOORS WILL BREAK AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS. I HAVE CHECKED INTO HAVING THEM REPAIRED BUT IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PLASTIC AROUND THE HANDLES IS 1 PIECE WITH THE REST OF THE PLASTIC OF THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR. ALSO, ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A DANGER - THE DISPLAY SCREEN FOR ALL THE OF ELECTRONICS OF THE CAR, WENT BLACK SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS A LOT OF THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAR. WE PAID OVER $43,000 FOR THE CAR - THESE THINGS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THE DOOR HANDLE REALLY SCARES ME. I HAVE SIGNED PETITIONS TO HAVE THIS RECALLED AS WELL AS CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE RECIRCULATION ASSEMBLY ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER KEEPS ON BRAKING. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED TWO TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, AND THIS MORNING, I WENT TO TURN ON THE HEAT, AND I HEARD IT SNAP AGAIN. WHEN IT BRAKES, AIR COMES INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR NO MATTER WHAT THE POSITION OF YOUR A/C OR HEAT CONTROLS. EVEN IF YOU HAVE THEM OFF, AIR STILL COMES IN SINCE THE RECIRCULATION DOOR IS BROKEN. I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. *TR
HI MY JEEP COMMANDER HAS BEEN IN GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME ONE DAY IT STAYED OUT IN THE RAIN AND ALL THE WATER GOT IN THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED RADIO SHUT OFF AND ON SAME WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS THE IT WOULD STAY ON DASH SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM CHECK GAUGES THE CHECK ENGINE WOULD COM ON THE BATTERY AND THE OIL AND THE TIRE PRESSURE AND SOMETIMES IT WONT START THE OTHER DAY IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING I HAVE 4 KIDS AND IM AFRAID IT COULD HAPPEN WHEN THEY RE WITH ME AND THEY COULD GET HURT I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM I'M REPORTING THIS TO THE BBB AND TO THE CONSUMERS AFFAIRS HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL HELP. *TR
