JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED 2006 STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 25MPH. CAR LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE CAR EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND JUST DIED. EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE INCLUDE THE CAR RUMBLING TO THE POINT WHERE IT FEELS AS IF WOULD STALL BUT DID NOT. IT FINALLY DID COMPLETELY STALL AS NOTED IN THE OPENING SENTENCES. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED, STATED THEY CANNOT PIN POINT THE EXACT CAUSE BUT PER CHRYSLER A POSSIBLE SOLUTION WAS TO CLEAN AND RESEAL THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS TO THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER. AFTER THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING PHONE CALLS TO CHRYSLER TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD CHRYSLER CAN'T GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WILL BE FOUND. NOW WE ARE LEFT WITH A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT MAY STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
WE OWN A JEEP COMMANDER 2006, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. IT HAS HAPPEN WHILE TURNING, WHILE TAKING AN OFF RAMP, ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE REFUSED TO ALLOW ANYONE TO DRIVE THE COMMANDER CONSIDERING I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND MY WIFE. THE UPSETTING PART IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE COMPUTER SAYS THEIR IS NO PROBLEM. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS ON SEPT. 04 2007. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HAS TO BE RESTARTED IN MOTION. IT ALSO STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AT LEAST 4 TIMES AND IT HAS HAPPENED AT 70MPH AT LEAST TWICE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS DONE ALL THEY CAN TO TRY TO FIX IT BUT CAN NEVER RECREATE THE PROBLEM. IT STOPPED FOR ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS BUT YESTERDAY THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY AND IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. IT HAS DONE IT 3 TIME IN THE LAST 24HRS WITH MY CHILDERN IN THE CAR. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS POSTS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM AND CAN'T BELIEVE A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO BE INJURED OR WORSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE LOST POWER, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN AT A DECREASED SPEED. HE PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THEN DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 20,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
2006 JEEP COMMANDERS ENGINE STALLS AND HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AT WHICH TIME THEY ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO SEE IT HAPPEN...LIKE WHEN MY LIGHTS WENT OUT ON A DARK FREEWAY ALMOST KILLING ME AND MY HUSBAND. *TR
CAR STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY. HAVE TO RENT A CAR UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS A POWERTRAIN ISSUE AND A NEW COMPUTER WAS PUT IN BUT IT STILL SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT.
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER V8 HAS STALLED 4 TIMES SINCE BUYING IT IN APRIL OF 2007. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS BACKING UP IN REVERSE IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE SECOND TIME A FEW MONTHS LATER, AFTER BACKING UP, PUT THE JEEP IN DRIVE AND IT STALLED. THE THIRD TIME WAS IN AUGUST, I HAD BACKED UP IN MY PARKING LOT AT WORK PUT THE JEEP IN DRIVE AND WAS GOING ABOUT 15 MPH AND THE JEEP STALLED. THE LAST TIME WAS AUGUST 28, 2007, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO MCDONALD'S WITH MY 8 MONTH OLD, 6+7 YEAR OLD CHILDREN AS WELL AS BEING 5 MONTHS PREGNANT, THE JEEP STALLED, I LOST MY BRAKES AND POWER STEERING WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC HEADING TOWARDS ME. IT TOOK I MY STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL TP GET OUT OF THE ROAD. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT 3 TIMES. THE LAST IN AUGUST BEFORE THE 4TH EPISODE. THEY HAD MY JEEP FOR 4 DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE CALLED JEEP AND MADE A COMPLAINT. THEIR RESPONSE WAS TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND FEEL UNSAFE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE OR WANT TO HELP. DOORS LEAK RUST ON THE HINGES NOW, KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE,BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL OF SUDDEN THE JEEP WILL NOT SHIFT ALL GEARS ARE LIT UP HAVE TO STOP SHUT DOWN FOR 5 TO 10 MIN. THEN WILL BE OK BEEN IN THE SHOP 10 TIMES TOLD I HAD ELECTRIC LIFTERS PUT A PIECE OF WEATHER STRIP IN THE DOOR TO FIX LEAK THEY SAY RUST IS NORMAL RESET THE TRANSMISSION AND A LEAK ON IT REPLACED MOTORS TO POWER WINDOWS STILL DON'T WORK RIGHT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS FLOODED WITH WATER. THE WATER APPEARED TO HAVE ORIGINATED FROM THE HANDRAILS LOCATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WATER LEAKED INTO THE SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE SPEAKERS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AMPLIFIER IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE WATER DAMAGE. THE ENGINE SIZE, POWERTRAIN, AND A VALID VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 7,368.
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER THAT IN MY EXPERIENCE HAS A SEVERE DESIGN FLAW. THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT AND DOES NOT DEFLECT EVEN SMALL ROAD DEBRIS. THE CURVE/ANGLE OF THE GLASS IS THE ISSUE. MY WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN CRACKED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL OTHERS FEEL THE SAME WAY JUST QUERY THE INTERNET. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT MAY END WITH THE LOSS OF LIFE. THIS DESIGN SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED ON THE ROADS... PLEASE HELP. *JB
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED ON MY TWICE NOW WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. DIDN'T REALIZE IT HAD STALLED UNTIL I TRIED TO GIVE GAS OR USE THE BRAKE. HARD TO MANEUVER OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD DUE TO POWER STEERING GOING OUT AFTER THE STALL. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
EXPERIENCED ENGINE STALL AND LOSS OF POWER TO INSTRUMENT PANEL MOMENTARILY WHILE APPROACHING RESIDENTIAL 30 MPH SPEED. HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS ACCELERATING WHEN IT HAPPENED. I NOTICED THE STALL AND LOOKED AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH APPEARED TO BE INOPERATIVE. THEN IT 'CAME BACK TO LIFE' AND I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE RESPONDED AND I KEPT DRIVING WITH NO OTHER ISSUES. *TR
SUNROOF AND WINDSHIELD HAS LEAK WHICH CAUSED WATER DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN WITH ALL THE OTHER DEFECTS THAT ARE NOW BE DISCOVERED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT FOR NOT CLEANING THE TUBES NEAR THE SUNROOF. AFTER SERVICING THE JEEP THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM SO I NOW HIRED AN ATTORNEY WHO IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THESE PROBLEMS AND HAS SETTLED NUMEROUS SETTLEMENTS FOR ALL THESE DEFECTS. *TR
INCIDENT OF ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING IN MODEL YEAR (MY) 2006 THROUGH 2007 JEEP COMMANDER VEHICLES (SUBJECT VEHICLES). ENGINE STALL WITH A SIMULTANEOUS LOSS OF SOME OR ALL LIGHTING SYSTEMS, INCLUDING HEADLAMPS. THE ENGINE STALL HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. *TR

SHE ONLY HAD TO TURN THE KEY ONCE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING THE STALLING AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN THIRD GEAR. THE CONTACT HAD TO DRIVE NINE MILES TO THE DEALER WITH THE VEHICLE IN THIRD GEAR. SHE PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY BUILD UP IN THE TRANSMISSION FILTER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 16,011. UPDATED 01-14-08. *KB UPDATED 12/12/07.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHENEVER DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS NUMEROUS TIMES. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER OCCASIONALLY "HESITATES" WHEN I ACCELERATE. THUS FAR IT HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, BUT CHANCES ARE GOOD THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN ONE DAY SOON. THIS HESITATION OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN I AM TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION AND I FEAR THAT IT MAY HAPPEN WHEN I AM UNABLE TO EVADE AN ONCOMING CAR. *JB
COMMANDER STARTED TO HAVE DASH PROBLEMS, SUCH AS TRANSMISSION LIGHT S WOULD SURROUND ALL BE CIRCLED OR BOXED WITH A SQUARE LIGHT SO I WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN 2007 THIS WENT ON FOR YEARS. I WOULD PULL OVER AND STOP PUT THE JEEP IN PARK OR TRY TO PUT BACK INTO DRIVE BUT IT WOULD REALLY BE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN IT WOULD JUMP INTO DRIVE OR 1ST OR 2ND AND COULD NOT GET BACK OUT UNLESS I TURNED VEHICLE OFF THEN I WOULD BE LUCKY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO GEAR, AND WHEN IT WOULD GO INTO GET IT WOULD JUMP AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND SCARE THE PANTS OFF OF ME. THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN LIKE KNEW FOR A FEW WEEKS WITH NO PROBLEMS AND THEN SAME CONDITIONS APPLIED, COULD GO FOR MONTHS, OR A YEAR AND THEN SAME CONDITIONS HAPPENED AGAIN. IF I TOOK THE PROBLEM TO A JEEP DEALER THEY WOULD SAY IT WOULD HAVE TO BE HAVING PROBLEM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE. THE CHRYSLER WOULD NOT PAY FOR MY RECALLED COMMANDER 2006, EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY HAD A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN BLOOMINGTON MN., FIX THE CONDITION ON 12/21/12. I ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM 0N 8/8/2012 IN CLOQUET MN.., AND AT STILLWATER MOTORS 06/30/07, ALL JEEP DEALERSHIPS CHRYSLER CALL CENTER SAID, ONCE THE RECALL CAME OUT CHRYSLER SAID I AM OUT OF LUCK. MY JEEP COMMANDER WAS JUMPING INTO GEAR ANY GEAR AND IS THE SAME PROBLEM THEY ARE REPORTING. PLEASE HELP ME ACCESS MY RECALL SO I CAN RECOVER MY FUNDS. 1) DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON; BRAKE WAS APPLIED TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. 2) HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF, SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE SHUT OFF; A MOMENT AFTER, THE TIRES LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE SPUN 180 DEGREES, THEN COLLIDED WITH A GUARD RAIL AND BOUNCED OFF AND RETURNED TO THE INTERSTATE IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC FACING THE WRONG WAY 3) INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR WAS HIRED BY CHRYSLER; THE REPORT FOUND NO MECHANICAL DEFECT NOR DID IT FIND ANY COMPUTER CODES THAT WOULD INDICATE A MALFUNCTION; CHRYSLER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDED WE CONTACT OUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR REPAIRS. *JB
I OWN A JEEP COMMANDER AND IT HAS DIED ON ME FOR NOW REASON NOW MORE THAN 7 TIMES. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, SOMETIMES ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR JUST STOPS. I STEP ON THE GAS AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL HARDENS AND DOESN'T STEER. I TOOK IT INTO THE JEEP DEALER WHERE I LEASED IT FROM AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH OTHER COMMANDER OWNERS BUT THEY HAVE NO FIX TO IT. THEY EVEN TOLD ME THAT WHEN THEY FIND WHAT'S WRONG WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S COMMANDER THEY WOULD CALL ME SO I GUESS THEY STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING NOW A LOT LATELY. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN TO THE DEALER SHIP AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON ALSO EVERY NOW AND THEN IT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR LIKE 5 TO 10 MINUTES THEN GOES OFF. *TR

I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLING ON ME. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND EACH TIME I AM TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. MOST RECENTLY THE VEHICLE STALLED ON ME IN STOP AND GO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER EACH FAILURE. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. WHILE BUCKLED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, HER TWO YEAR OLD GRANDSON PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT JUMPED IN THE VEHICLE AND APPLIED THE BRAKE, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE SLIGHTLY CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. THE REAR BUMPER WAS DAMAGED. THE DRIVER SIDE BACK UP SYSTEM DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE VIN AND FAILURE SPEED WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 18,500.
VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC - WAS ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND AVOID CRASH - TOOK SUV TO DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE OR DETECT PROBLEM (2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4.7 LITER ENGINE). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGHLY AND THE ENGINE REVS INTERMITTENTLY. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR A WHILE AND THEN DIMMED. DURING THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL POWER, INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING. SHE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR APPROXIMATELY A YEAR, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH OR GREATER, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART ON ITS OWN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SENSORS FAILED (SENSOR TYPE UNKNOWN). THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AS OF NOVEMBER 8, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT COMPLETED THE INSPECTION. THERE IS A DEFECT INVESTIGATION OPEN (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA07007) FOR THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
VEHICLE STARTS TO STALL WHILE MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS. AS SOON AS THE TURN IS COMPLETE, THE VEHICLE REGAINS ACCELERATION. *JB
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY AT 35 MPH WHEN SHE MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DIED. ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE LOST, WHICH NEARLY CAUSED HER TO WRECK INTO AN ON COMING CAR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED AN IGNITION SWITCH AS THE ONLY PROBABLY CAUSE, BUT CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE HEADLIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. HE STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO WORK AS WELL. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ABS WOULD ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE CONTACT FELT THE PULSATING VIBRATION THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD THE ABS ENGAGE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND GREATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, HOWEVER, THEY RESET THE CODES IN THE VEHICLE. TWO WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE REMOTE START MODULE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE LIGHTS WOULD OFTEN ILLUMINATE AND DIM AUTOMATICALLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 20,000.

ON THREE OCCASIONS, MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING, EACH TIME WHILE TURNING LEFT. ON ONE OCCASION, I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF STEERING, BRAKING AND ACCELERATING; THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID THE OTHER VEHICLES IN MY VICINITY. THE OTHER TWO TIMES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING., BUT WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BOTH TIMES DUE TO DRASTIC DECELERATION. I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE; HOWEVER I?M NOT CONFIDENT THAT THEY'LL FIND ANYTHING. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS DIFFICULT TO REPLICATE. I HAVE 3 YOUNG CHILDREN AND NOW FEAR FOR OUR LIVES EACH DAY. I HOPE THAT JEEP WILL RECOGNIZE THIS GROWING PROBLEM AND RECALL THE VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED. VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENED WHILE SLOWING. IT HAS NORMALLY BEEN WHEN SLOWING INTO A SLIGHT TURN THE SPEED DROPPED, AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TURN. ONCE OR TWICE WHEN JUST COMING TO A START/STOP. HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET. THOUGHT I WOULD CHECK ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. AND HERE I AM. *AK

THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN MY WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENTLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME CHALLENGE AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES AS OTHER OWNERS SUCH AS; TRANSMISSION NOISES AND SLIPPAGE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES, EXCESSIVE BREAK NOISE, BREAK WEAR, EXCESSIVE CRACKING IN WINDSHIELD, SEATBELT FAILURE, WINDOW LEAKS, STEREO REPLACEMENT AND MORE! IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR MORE THAN 6 TIMES FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. THE DEALER, AS WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS HAS CLAIMED THEY "CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM..." AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. I HAVE NOW EMBARKED UPON HAVING THE VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK BY THE MANUFACTURER AND WILL ALSO BEGIN A FORMAL LEGAL CASE TO ENSURE OTHER OWNERS RECEIVE RETRIBUTION. I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AND HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE STALLING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. I WAS DRIVING MY 7 YEAR OLD SON TO CAMP. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A 2 LANE ROAD. SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE ENGINE, AS WELL AS ALL ELECTRICAL ITEMS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I ALSO LOST ALL ASSIST FUNCTIONS. WHEN I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES I GOT THE NOISE THAT USUALLY YOU HEAR WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM HAS TAKEN CONTROL. AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DROPPING MY SON OFF I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. I HAD NO INSTRUMENT PANEL FUNCTIONS (GAS GAUGE, WATER TEMP, ODOMETER, ETC.). I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/5/2007 FOR ANALYSIS.
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE HAS A COMPLETE BLACKOUT - IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN, ENGINE STOPS RUNNING, EVERYTHING DIES! THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND WHEN ON A LOCAL ROAD. DOOR SPRINGS ARE TOO STRONG THEY SNAP BACK WITH TOO MUCH FORCE. MY 4 YEAR OLD CHILD WAS HIT IN THE HEAD AND EAR WHICH LEFT A BRUISE ON THE EAR , I HAVE A PICTURE, AND A BUMP ON THE HEAD, IT HAS SMACKED MY CHILD ON THE HEAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLED ON FREEWAY THREE TIMES WITHIN 30 MINUTES. IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THE COMMANDER STALLED TWICE WHILE I WAS STANDING STILL AND ONCE AT ABOUT 30 MPH. IN THE LAST INSTANCE I WAS NEXT TO A 18 WHEELER CHANGING LANES AND THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *AK

NOT SO MUCH A COMPLAINT BUT A STATEMENT CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON DUE TO MY KNEE STRIKING THE IGNITION KEY, TURNING IT BACK TO THE ACCESSORY" POSITION AS I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO FLAT ON THE FLOOR. THIS WAS SIMPLY OPERATOR ERROR ON MY PART. I' READ THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON ENGINE DYING, AND ALMOST DIDN'T PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THOSE, BUT UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON MY PART I FELT FAIRLY SURE REPORTED PROBLEMS COULD BE OPERATOR ERROR RATHER THAN AN ACTUAL ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THIS WAS ONLY MY OPINION BUY BASED ON MY ACTUAL LIFE EXPERIENCE, THE CAR DIED WHILE GOING ON THE ROAD WAS DUE TO MY OWN ACTION. I WILL NOTE THAT I HAD ZERO PROBLEMS CONTROLLING THE CAR AFTER THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I SIMPLY STEERED OVER TO THE SHOULDER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. I PROBABLY COULD HAVE JUST AS EASILY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED IT WHILE COASTING ON THE ROAD. IF OTHERS GET TO VOICE THEIR COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE I FEEL I SHOULD BE ALLOWED THIS STATEMENT ON THAT SAME TYPE OF EVENT SO THAT CONSUMERS INVESTIGATING THIS VEHICLE CAN MAKE MORE OF AN INFORMED DECISION ABOUT PURCHASING ONE.
