I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMPASS WITH 104000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED BY THE END OF THE SAME DAY THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, THEY DIAGNOSED A BAD CLOCK SPRING. THE TECHNICIAN NOTED IT LOOKED VERY SIMILAR TO THE JEEP WRANGLER CLOCK SPRINGS THAT ARE CURRENTLY UNDER RECALL.
WHEN I PUSH THE BELT INTO THE RECEIVER IT CLICKS AND HOLDS THE TONGUE OF THE METAL CATCH BUT WHEN YOU TUG ON IT IT PULLS APART EASILY. WE DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. IT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT WE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH
MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR SIDE IMPACT, AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT ANCHOR CAME COMPLETELY DETACHED AND SEAT BELT NO LONGER RESTRAINED THE PASSENGER, CONSEQUENTLY SUSTAINING MULTIPLE INJURIES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED OFF AND ON AS THE AIR BAGS SUDDENLY INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 4 MINUTES AFTER THE INITIAL AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT THE SECONDARY STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A NECK INJURY FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY IMPACT WHILE THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AT A STOPLIGHT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEFLATE AND WERE CUT DOWN BY THE PARAMEDICS SO THAT I COULD EXIT THE CAR. INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED, BRUISING, SWELLING, BLACK EYE AND BURNS FROM THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATORS WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF DEPLOYMENT. CURRENTLY WAITING FOR JEEP TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. WAITING FOR A SETTLEMENT FOR MY JEEP, MEDICAL, AND RENTAL BILLS SO I CAN PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN EITHER THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
DRIVERS SEAT BELT CLICKS BUT IT DOESN'T ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE SUMMER 09. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE ITS LOCKED BY PULLING ON IT. NUMEROUS TIMES MY SEAT-BELT HAS COME OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON HERE ITS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS ISSUE. THE DEALER CHECKED IT AND SAID IT WAS FINE AFTER I DEMANDED THEY REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT DOESN'T INGAGE EVERY TIME. I HAVE TO PUSH IT IN AND PULL ON IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO MAKE SURE ITS LATCHED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON TWO MONTH OR SO.

THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT KEEPS UNLATCHING BY ITSELF. PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE FOUND NO FAULT. KEEPS GETTING WORSE WILL BE TAKING IT TO ANOTHER DEALER TOMORROW, THIS HAPPENS EVERY OTHER TIME I BUCKLE MY SEAT BELT IN. *TR
MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT STARTED COMING OFF AND ON AS I WAS DRIVING IN DECEMBER OF 2008. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY THE DEALER. LIKE CLOCKWORK IN THE WINTER OF 2009 AND CONTINUING UNTIL TODAY THE LIGHT IS COMING OFF AND ON CONSTANTLY (EVERY 3-10 MILES). THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON TO IT, I CAN BE ACCELERATING, DECELERATING, AT A COMPLETE STOP ETC. BESIDES BEING ANNOYING I HAVE READ THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEPS. I HAVE ASKED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE TO REPLACE THE PART AT NO COST TO ME SINCE I AM NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO THAT, AND I AM UNABLE TO AFFORD THE $300+ PART THEY NEED TO "FIX" THIS PROBLEM ONCE AGAIN.
CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT IN A CAR SEAT THAT WAS HELD WITH SAFETY SEAT BELT. HE IS 3, ABOUT 30 POUNDS. HE UNLATCHED THE SEAT BELT BUT HAD PUT IT AROUND HIMSELF WHERE HE STILL LOOKED INTACT. WHEN WE STOPPED AND WENT TO GET HIM OUT, HE WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT AS THE SEAT BELT WAS RETRACTING AND GETTING SO TIGHT AROUND HIM HE WAS GETTING SQUEEZED IN HALF. WE TRIED TO PULL THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE IT BUT IT WOULDN'T RELEASE. WE HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. HE IS FINE NOW BUT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. HE IS SCARED OF THE SEAT BELT NOW WHICH COULD BE A GOOD THING. *TR
I HAVE A 2207 JEEP COMPASS. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A SPEED OF 40 MILES PER HOUR AND THE AIR CURTAINS ON BOTH SIDE OF THE VEHICLES DEPLOYED ON THEIR OWN. THE CAR STALLED IMMEDIATELY IN THE ROAD. WE TOOK THE JEEP FOR REPAIR AND IT WAS KEPT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 29 DAYS. THEY HAVE RELEASED THE JEEP BACK TO ME, BUT THE JEEP COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHEY IT HAPPENED. THEY ALSO CANNOT TELL ME THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS MY SIXTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS CAR. IF SHE HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND THIS HAPPENED SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER BY TRAFFIC AND KILLED. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT JEEP WOULD WANT CONSUMERS TO DRIVE A CAR THAT COULD KILL YOU. *JB
OUR JEEP 2007 COMPASS HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT REMAINING LATCHED. MOST TIMES IT WILL UNLATCH ITSELF WITHIN SECONDS OF THE CLICK SOUND. AND OTHER TIMES, IT DOES UNLATCH WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. WE DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME YEAR WE BOUGHT IT, AND THEY TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEATBELT. WE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THE FOLLOWING YEAR, AND AGAIN, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT, IS STILL A SAFETY CONCERN FOR US BECAUSE, IF WE WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, THAT SEATBELT MAY UNLATCH UPON IMPACT. *TR
