dashboard had check engine light on. transaxle indicator light turned on when i was driving about 65 mph on the freeway and slowed down and wouldn’t accelerate. The large commercial truck behind me was unable to stop on time that it almost hit us behind. There was a construction on my right lane and cars on my left lane. it took me some seconds to reach the end of construction site in my right lane. A second or two more not changing lane to my right side would have hit me and my children. All the truck driver was able to do was pressed on the horn to make me aware that he is too close behind me. Changed of speed in a freeway that fast could have killed me and my kids. i have not been able to drive in the Freeway with this car and even if i get it fixed, I still won’t feel safe to drive it. The car runs fine when the transaxle light doesn’t come on. certain movement, light turns on and off.
ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING LOST COMPLETE ELECTRICAL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AT A LIGHT. I HAVE TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT PRESENTS SAFETY ISSUES.
THE TIPM IS FAILING CAUSED ME TO STALL AT 70MPH ON A HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC DOORS UNLOCKED AND THEN THREW ALL ELECTRICAL CODES
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON PAID $800 DOLLARS TO RESOLVE ISSUES, I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. A FEW SENSORS(OIL, HEATING ETC) WERE REPLACED, O2 SENSORS WERE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SYSTEM. THIS IS CREATING A VERY SERIOUS HEADACHE PROBLEM. I TRIED WITH NUMEROUS CAR REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THEY CHECK THE CODES AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH IT, BUT THERE IS NO WARRANTY, THAT WE CAN RESOLVE THE ISSUES. ISSUES ARE HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION
THE TIPM HAS A KNOWN DEFECT. IT HAS CAUSE THE LEFT HEADLIGHT, TAILLIGHT, AND BLINKER TO MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS STALL WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I WAS TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THIS AT MY OWN COST EVEN THOUGH IT IS A HIGHLY KNOWN ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES MANY OF WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED.

THE DEALER (BOARDWALK JEEP, 1 BAIR ISLAND RD, REDWOOD CITY, CA 94063) STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FROM AUGUST 29, 2017 TO NOVEMBER 4, 2017. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ENGINE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO FUSE TO CONNECT AND DISCONNECT TO PREVENT THE NOISE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IT WAS LIKE A GHOST TOOK OVER IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. MY LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, BLINKER CAME ON WOULDN'T GO OFF, WIPERS WERE GOING FULL SPEED AND THE DASH WHERE IT TELLS YOU SOUTH, NORTH, EAST AND WEST STOP WORKING. IT'S SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND READING THE FORUMS WITH THE SAME ISSUES SHOULD BE A RECALL.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN APRIL 2016. IN JUNE 2016, MY HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. IT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF ON IT'S OWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 6 WEEKS OF THE CAR BEING IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP, DUE TO THE LIGHT WORKING ON IT'S OWN AND THEM NOT HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE I WAS HAVING, THEY FINALLY SEE WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM FAILED, AND REPLACED IT. FEB 2017, MY WIPERS BEGAN TURNING ON AND OFF ON THEIR OWN, OR JUST NOT WORKING AT ALL. THEY WOULD GO ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, AND AT TIMES THE SWITCH WOULD NOT EVEN TURN THEM ON WHEN I NEEDED THEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE AGAIN DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM, WHICH IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD, HAS AGAIN FAILED. THEY HAVE NOT DETERMINED WHAT IS CAUSING THE CONSISTENT FAILURE OF THE TIPM, AND HAVE HAD IT FOR A WEEK NOW.
MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS HORN WOULD NOT STOP BLOWING. THE DEALER DISABLED IT AND THE CAR WOULD GO IN THE NEXT DAY. OVER 5 DAYS IT HAD TO BE JUMPED 4X AS THE JEEP WAS DEAD TRYING TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY AND AFTER 5 HOURS THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FIXABLE BECAUSE IT NEEDED A HORN SWITCH. THE PROBLEM IS THAT NO ONE HAS A HORN SWITCH FOR IT. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER..THERE ARE 527 ORDERS FOR IT WITH NO DELIVERY DATE IN SIGHT. YOU CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE HORN BLOWING OR WITH IT DISABLED OR RUN THE SAFETY RISK OF NEEDING THE HORN OR THE JEEP DYING ON YOU MID ROUTE. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 20 PLUS DAYS. JEEP NOT HAVING THIS PART OR DEALERS GETTING ACCESS TO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND FUEL CAP WAS DISPLAYED ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE RADIATOR FANS CONTINUED TO FUNCTION AFTER THE KEY WAS EJECTED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
I WAS DRIVING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WALMART AND THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. I COASTED INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND THEN TURNED BACK OFF. I CALL AAA AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO NTB. THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP AND STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THEY STARTED THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE. AFTER I LEFT, I GOT MAYBE 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I CALLED NTB AND THEY WERE ICE ENOUGH TO COME TO WHERE I WAS. THEY WERE ABLE TO START THE CAR; HOWEVER, AS SOON AS HE BACKED UP TO TURN AROUND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. HE TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE CAR, BUT IT'S HARD TO DO THAT WHEN THEY THEMSELVES DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO THE COST. WE SAT FOR 10 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. I DROVE HOME WITH NO MORE INCIDENTS. FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS NOTHING HAPPENED. ON THE 5TH DAY, IN TRAFFIC ON 459N WHICH IS HEAVY AND CRAZY, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME, WHO WAS TOO CLOSE ANYWAY, TO HIT ME. I PULLED OVER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME WHERE IT'S SITTING NOW. I HAVE GONE OUT TO CRANK IT AND IT TURNS OVER, BUT I'M NOT DRIVING IT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THIS SATURDAY TO TAKE IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP ON GRANTS MILLS WAY TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND EXACTLY WHAT'S WRONG WIT THIS DEATHTRAP. WITHOUT WARNING, MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY DIED AND WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE COMPUTER. AFTER FURTHER TESTING, HOWEVER, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TPIM) WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD ALSO FRIED OUT THE COMPUTER, REQUIRING THAT BOTH PARTS BE REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF NEARLY $2,000. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A DEFECT THAT MANY JEEP USERS ARE EXPERIENCING, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND I'VE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR MY 3 YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER FOR NEARLY 2 WEEKS. THE JEEP COULD HAVE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING OR COULD HAVE LEFT US STRANDED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR FAULTY TPIM'S AND REPLACE ALL THE DAMAGE THAT THEY CAUSE! *TR
IGNITION FAILED TO RECOGNIZE KEY. COULD NOT START VEHICLE. HAD TO INVEST MONEY TO REPLACE IGNITION, KEY, AND REPROGRAM COMPUTER SYSTEM. *TR
BELIEVED TO BE A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF, RPMS, SPEEDOMETER, ETC. WILL DROP TO ZERO, AFTER RETURNING TO NORMAL, AIRBAG LIGHT WILL STAY ILLUMINATED. KEY DOESN'T ALWAYS READ TO UNLOCK. HAS A COUPLE INSTANCES WHERE KEY WOULD TURN AND CLICK BUT CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON WHEN WHEEL WASN'T COMPLETELY STRAIGHT. *TR
MY VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER INTERMITTENTLY. IT WOULD REMAIN RUNNING, BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH. AT FIRST, THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, SOLVED BY PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. EVENTUALLY, THIS BECAME AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE, UNTIL EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN START DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR MY YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL, BUT THE DATABASE STATES THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES IN FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC ON NARROW SHOULDERS.
