The truck just shuts off in the middle of driving
The axle broke off suddenly on the front right tire, I was going approximately 60 miles per hour. This happened while driving in the middle of highway, it lead to the rest of tires to break abruptly. I was able to get to the emergency lane safely with last bit of speed before the car came to a complete stop. The engine did not turn off. I had it towed home through my insurance. It has not been serviced yet as it can not be driven or moved at all and I will have to tow it again to a service shop. I will bring it to a service shop to have it looked at once I can have it towed again so I can get a full diagnosis. The car did not making any prior noise, there was no warning on the dashboard it just happened suddenly and abruptly.
On 04/12/2026, I was stopped at a red light. The auto start/stop engaged. I removed my foot from the brake, the auto start kicked on, but did not reengage the engine. The notification panel suddenly started blinking, entire panel lit up. The parking brake automatically engage despite not being touched. The option for selecting terrain started toggling through all options. Vehicle then seemingly died. Put vehicle in park. Pressed button to restart engine. Car was successfully restarted.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Powertrain/Engine Control System. The vehicle suffers from a total loss of motive power while driving in traffic. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle unexpectedly enters "Limp Mode" while driving at various speeds in active traffic. When this happens, the accelerator pedal becomes completely unresponsive, forcing the vehicle to a crawl or a dead stop regardless of the flow of traffic around it. This creates a life-threatening risk of rear-end collisions and high-speed accidents, as the car cannot maintain speed or move to safety. I am forced to operate a vehicle that effectively "shuts down" while I am in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple independent mechanics have confirmed the stalling and electrical instability. Despite replacing the crankshaft sensor and both batteries, the sudden loss of power in traffic persists. Shops have stated the issue is a manufacturer-level failure they cannot fix. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has been inspected by independent service centers. The manufacturer has not inspected it yet, as it is extremely hard to duplicate unless it is driven for a certain time at certain temperatures. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The failure is temperature-dependent, occurring almost exclusively when ambient temperatures reach 71°F or higher. When the failure happens, the dashboard displays flashes the drive sign(limp mode). There are no other lights or anything triggered to display what the issue is related to. These symptoms began roughly one year ago, and has returned daily now that it is getting hot again.
I was hit on the driver side of my jeep and I was told by multiple EMS on the scene of the accident that my air bags should’ve went off
Radiator has anti freeze smell when driven long periods of time or sometimes when at idol , also start /stop system not working properly when making a stop vechiel does not want to turn back on
Note: The vehicle is totaled, and GEICO Insurance is in possession. A month ago, we received Brake warnings. We brought the vehicle to a mechanic to get checked and it passed. We did not get the warning again. 2 weeks ago, while turning into our driveway, as we were almost stopped, but still in the turn, the vehicle made a noise similar to the Auto Stop/Start feature. The power brakes and steering stopped working (everything was stiff). The car accelerated, and we hit the corner of our garage (because we did not complete the turn into the driveway). The vehicle then hit a tree where it came to rest. The collision avoidance, didn't kick in. Unsure about the final speed of the vehicle, but it was fast enough to deploy the airbags and total the vehicle. There is a police report with the Closter, NJ Police.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving up an incline at 78 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle continued to accelerate while going downhill. There was no warning light illuminated. There was an abnormal sputtering sound coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle continued to accelerate down a steep hill. While approaching a wide left turn, the contact deactivated the cruise control after an audible high-pitched sound came from the vehicle. After deactivating the cruise control, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and resume normal operation. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The odometer cluster light is too dim and I can't see it during the daytime
I found a bolt head and a washer laying on my garage floor. After looking under the vehicle, it broke off from where the right side front cross member mounts to the bracket that attaches to the vehicle body. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they said the bolt was on back order and had no time frame when it would be available. They said that the vehicle was safe to drive because there were five other bolts holding it to the body. The dealer kept the bolt head and washer.
Every time that I get into my Jeep there's an issue with the ADAS. Almost immediately once I pull onto the highway 3 warnings will appear on the dashboard display the first is: Blind Spot Temporarily Unavailable, then two orange triangles appear on my mirrors and will not go away. It also happens every time that I make a turn in my car. The next warning that appears is my Automatic Break System is available and "need servicing". My car has less than 12,000 miles on it and is practically brand new. After typing in these problems and doing a quick Google search along with a Reddit search it appears that this issue is widespread among Jeep Compass owners. Please fix this issue IMMEDIATELY! It's extremely dangerous as I have two children that I'm transporting every single day in my car.
The ABS wont go off it constantly stays on I put a brand new battery in it went out about a week later had to jump start it...When it rains or snow it is like my wipers and headlights goes crazy and sometimes my backup camera is all blue for no reason...I feel like there is something major wrong in the wiring somewhere
This car has stalled 9 times while I was driving. I live in a very busy, densely populated area where car stalling in the middle of streets can get me badly injured or killed. The car stalls in Drive, while I'm braking, and slowly coasts along about an extra 2 feet before completely stopping. I cannot tell that it has stalled because I can't hear the engine, and the Dash always says "Run" with all the lights lit up. Also, Lane Assistance comes on when no cars are around and the car just starts braking on its own and slows down with loud bells ringing and flashing lights on the inside of the car. I turned Lane Assistance off, but it stills comes on by itself. I'm afraid to drive it, but it's all I have and in this city you need a car to get around because nothing is close to home.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE 2022 BRAND NEW FOR A DEALERSHIP IN NOVEMBER OF 2021. SINCE THEN MY RANDOM DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE COME ON AND OFF, THE CALL HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES ALL RELATING SUPPOSELY TO THE BATTERIES GOING BAD. I HAD BOTH BATTERIES CHANGED LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I FEEL THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
WHEN I START THE CAR, THE STEERING WHELL IS FROZEN, WILLNOT MOVE AN THE GEAR SHIFT WILL MOVE BUT IT CAR WILL NOT MOVE,, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF PULLING THE EMERCENCY BREAK AN TURNING IT OFF AND GOING THRU THE SHIFT PATTERN , THE CAR MAY MOVE,,,SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SHUT THE MOTOR OFF AN ON TO GET THE WHEEL UNFROZEN AND THE GEARS TO WORK.... HAVE OWNED THE CAR 3 MONTHS AN THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES.... AT THIS TIME THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, HOWEVER THEY CAN NOT GET THE CAR TO DO THE SAME THING FOR THEM, SO THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT TO FIX..THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON...BEING REAL HELPFUL,,BUT CAN NOT FIX A PROBLEM THEY CAN NOT FIND.
On 8/26/25 I got the 88A recall fixed on this jeep at Duluth dodge in Duluth mn .. I left dealership and my ac stopped working brought it back they fixed and it and got it working now on 8/30/25 I’m at a stop light and my jeep stalls, it went to go start for me to drive and it died. The emergency brake came on and I couldn’t get it off the state trooper actually helped me get it off. Had to get my vehicle towed to my house. All lights come on but it says “blind spot alert temporarily unavailable “ check engine light is on and my jeep will not start. I was stranded on a busy road at a stop light with my child in the car . I know this is due to the recall cause my jeep ran just fine and did not have any issues until this recall was “fixed”. This recall actually has my jeep not working at all. All failure lights came on after my jeep stalled and wouldn’t turn back on. From what I’m reading this is exactly what happened to other people . Please FIX THIS
I noticed a subtle clunk noise about a month ago coming from the steering wheel and the front left side of the vehicle when turning the steering wheel at a low velocity and also when the car was idle. The noise gradually started becoming more frequent and louder as days went on. As I was driving the vehicle was not driving smooth as usual it almost felt wobbly when turning the steering wheel. There has not been any warning lights or warning messages that came on or alerted me. I thought it could possibly be my front left tire since the noise was coming from the front left side of the car. so I had my tires checked and had a rotation done. The car continued to make the noise and wobbly when I would turn the steering wheel. I felt the vehicle may possibly not be safe to drive especially on the highway so I decided to make an appointment for Monday September 15,2025. I brought my vehicle to the San Antonio Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership early morning to get the issue checked. I had to leave my vehicle there due to the service advisor stating it would take 2 days for the diagnostic to be done. They inspected the vehicle and ran diagnostic. Two days later let me know their tech test drove the vehicle replicated the clunk noise and used a special diagnostic tool called Chassis Ear tool in order to pin point the issue and found that it was coming from the steering gear. They gave me an estimate stating the steering gear and outer tie rods ends need to be replaced. When I spoke to the service advisor he told me they would have to order a rack and pinion steering gear system. Stated the repair will not be covered under jeep train warranty and my limited warranty already expired just 4 months ago. My vehicle only has 35,500 miles. I keep up with all maintenance and multi point inspections have been done on my vehicle on time. They don’t know why the steering gear has failed and also mentioned they currently have other customer’s Jeep compass there with the same exact issue
Since 20,000 miles I have had problems with my steering column. I first took it in back in August of 2023 due to a clunking noise coming from my steering wheel. When I first took it in my suspension was tightened but this did not resolve the issue. When I took it back in a week later I was told I needed to replace my rack and pinion. The rack and pinion was replaced but my car still had the faint clunking sound. The clunking came back a year later. At 30,000 miles I was told both of my front axles had failed and both were replaced. The clunking sound still remained but faint. Seven months later the clunking returned once again and much more aggressively (I was out of warranty at this point). I was told one of my axles failed once again prematurely and was replaced after sitting for nearly a month. When I got my car back after nearly 4 weeks i noticed the exact same aggressive clunking noise in my steering column. I returned my car back a week later for a new diagnosis after speaking with the service manager. The report came back stating that both of my lower control arms went bad and needed to be replaced. Also discovered was a bad intermediate shaft causing the clunking noise. The dealership decided to goodwill the service to fix my lower control arms since it was a dangerous situation to drive in and I had been driving my car like this for 20,000 miles since I originally took the car in. The dealership says they can not do anything about the intermediate shaft which could cause me to lose all steering abilities and cause a serious car accident. I no longer feel safe in this car and 100% believe this car is a lemon.
Increased a 2022 Jeep Compass with 25500 Miles and was almost $25.000.00 from Carvana Based out of Atlanta and Tempe AZ. My daughter was so excited as it was delivered by Carvana and about 2 hours after it was delivered to her she drove it onto the highway and as soon as she drove it on the highway at about 50 miles per hour it rattled so violently and pulled right like the vehicle was about to fall apart. So frantically and scared and crying was able to Limp it to the side of the highway and called me and called Carvana & took almost 2 hours to get someone live other than robots chat things. She was told by Carvana to take it to pep boys. With no apology or a bit of concern for her safety said nothing or even apologized. A criminal company. So the service manager said that he could not believe that a so called 150 point inspection that the most important system for safety on a vehicle being the braking system. The rotors were bad and warped. They were never turned or replaced. He said they took a horrible and risky and illegal repair at Carvana with just putting new brake pads on damaged rotors and a badly worn tire and never balanced any of the tires and all were terribly out of balance and alignment was so far off specs he was upset she could even drive it down the street so this is unacceptable and unsafe and I hope this criminal company can be fined and sued and made an example out of. I will be contacting the media in Atlanta, Georgia and Tempe, Arizona as well as the local newspapers & news channels on your side for investigations. Also I will notify the organizations I belong to after serving in Iraq and [XXX] being the reason I could not go see it as it was delivered as they don’t allow test drives or inspection by customer before delivery so we rely on these crooked people to make sure 150 point inspection of nothing. But being a [XXX] I will contact the [XXX] & American Legion & VFW as social media. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission jerks had in the shop three times for the same problem it feels like it's going to throw you through the windshield. It's been in the shop since October 23rd 2025 for several problems and the guy told me it was using oil.

Emergency brake locking when vehicle is in drive mode. Also unable to drive from a stopped position except very slowly which can cause a rear end collision.
Turn signal does not cancel. Intermittent problem that occurs infrequently. Safety concern because turn signal may signal for one direction when driving the car to the opposite direction. I am reluctant to pay about $250 to dealer to diagnoise because issue is intermittent. Dealer refuses to note complaint on customer records without diagnosis. I called customer care and reported issue, 4/15/25 case # 92675100. Customer care requested to have dealer diagnose, but I explained that issue is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.
Aggressive premature tire wear on the inner section of the tire tread on a 2022 Jeep Compass (purchased December 2022). Mostly on the front tires, similar slight evidence on rear tires. Alignment was investigated in March 2025 by commercial repair service center (not dealership). Alignment is within factory specifications. Service manager only recommended replacing the front two tires, as there was nothing they could do for the alignment - pictures attached of front tires. Back tires were rotated to front position with new tires mounted in the rear. Five months later front tires now need replaced with mileage at approximately 28,000 miles. Internet search for similar issue has overwhelming number of complaints documented by other owners across the U.S. and Canada. All complaining of replacing tires due to perceived alignment issues from the manufacturer.
The contact owned a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while the contact's daughter was driving, the vehicle was rear-ended from another vehicle causing the vehicle to go airborne, roll over, and came to stop. Both front tires were indented into 90 degrees. None of the air bags deployed. The contact's daughter was the single occupant of the vehicle. The driver sustained whiplash however medical attention was not sought. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned total loss. A Police report was filed, however the information was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
The auto stop has stopped my vehicle at a light and failed to start back up. On several occasions I have been at a red light, and my car refused to take off, like it is just stuck. I have to put the car in park and restart. The auto stop is very dangerous, I have to turn it off when I get in my car. ( I have to warn family when they are using my car) A few times I have forgotten. I have taken my car to 3 jeep dealerships and they say they cant find a problem. They is an issue and no one is hearing me.
When driving I reversing my review camera appears to be lagging as well as sometimes it will start buzzing/ making a long beeping noise then the center screen will go dark and reset. This has occurred many times while reversing . I noticed that sometimes I get the sound while driving forward and then the center screen restarts
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while idle at a stop light the auto start/stop feature activated however when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle then went into lockdown mode where all systems were deactivated. The police were contacted and assisted in merging the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was placed in the park while they waited for the tow truck to arrive. When the tow truck arrived the vehicle was not able to be placed back into neutral to move onto the flatbed. The tow truck was able to tow the vehicle onto the flatbed despite the rear wheels being locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,100.
I am having a persistent issue with this vehicle involving the lane keep assist and pedestrian collision sensor. This issue has been present since purchasing the vehicle in December of 2021. I have had it in to two separate dealers a total of 6 times with no solution yet. The issue occurs when traveling down the road above 35 with the active lane assist enabled. Intermittently the vehicle will act as if there is a significant steering misalignment and the vehicle will attempt to pull you out of your lane into other lanes and you have to fight the steering assist in order to not depart your lane. Some times with the issue the car will throw a code stating "Active Lane Management (ALM) Unavailable Service Required" and turn the ALM off. The dash light will stay illuminated until the next key cycle and then disappear. The other issue with this system occurs when taking a 90 degree turn. The vehicle will throw the same error message and turn off the ALM and intermittently with also disable the pedestrian collision avoidance system which will remain off until I go into the settings and turn it back on. The dealerships have replaced the BCM, Steering Wheel, and Steering Wheel control module. There have been no actual solutions provided and this issue remains active. I do not want this to cause an accident one day when the issue occurs and the driver is unable to correct the vehicles mistake.
The start/stop has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. It's been to the dealer multiple times for this issue. The vehicle will sometimes just stop while moving or will not start at a light. Each time requires the vehicle being placed in park, turning off the vehicle, restarting the vehicle, and releasing the parking brake and finally shifting into gear. This is dangerous to have this happening in traffic. Jeep seems to not care about these concerns.
My family's n is safety was at risk daily ,do to fear of the electric system being off ,changing speed and directtion of car falsely. 2Continuly lights sources in panels on at night , unable to turn off . navigation pulling vehicle off lane ,to opposite side of road in rain sleet heavy snow . While stopped at a traffic light, I went to accelerate when the light turned green. The vehicle turns off to save gas when it is at a standstill and will power up when the brake is released. Today at the light I went to release from the brake and it would not move. Instead it started I had to turn on again. Which it took several times before it would start. Cars were behind me and one almost hit me due to the light being green and I was just sitting there.
I purchased a 2022 jeep Compass in April of 2024. In the past few weeks the jeep has had a reoccurring issue. Issue is when at a stop, message appears saying "Coolant Temperature to High", the Jeep will beep flash that message, coolant temp gauge will jump to the top then down to the bottom and the vehicle will shut its self off, and check engine light will be solid but the "coolant" message will go away. Along with this, the auto start/stop feature (when at a stop vehicle shuts its self off and electronics run of aux battery, then when brake peddle is released vehicle starts up and power is back on the main battery) has not been functioning, I assume this happened around the time off the first coolant message a few weeks back. While drive I h
All Vehicles with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that are configured in a manner to illuminate the primary low beam or high beam headlamps, or a significant output of an LED source are a danger to other vehicles at night if they are too bright. Vehicles with the above characteristics put drivers at risk as the operator of that vehicle assumes they have their lights on due to the amount of light they can see, but the taillights are not illuminated in any fashion. There are no active or passive warnings to the operators that they have no lights on. They assume that because they can see, others can see them but that is not the case in most instances. The drivers themselves, in newer cars at least with digital information displays, are often seen with brightly illuminated dashboards hindering their own visibility because the car believes it is daylight, and has all internal brightness settings to max to ensure visibility. The easiest proposal for remediation is a mass recall and software update by the manufacturers to these vehicles where the DRL function is replaced by using a low output light on all directions, similar to parking lights (where the brake lights are in a dim setting similar to being on, and the front turn signals are in a dim setting) thus increasing daytime visibility still, while also having rear-facing safety for themselves and other drivers. This is of course, not limited to the 2022 Jeep Compass, but all brands, and a large percentage of vehicles form the last decade. More and more drivers are not familiar with their vehicles, and as automated settings for headlamp control advances, drivers are no longer familiar with the standardized symbols indicated the difference between parking lights, low beams, and fog lamps. See attached photos for 3 examples from three different manufacturers. I see several daily on my way to work in Boston, and numerous drivers flashing their highbeams at the unilluminated vehicle, in an attempt to alert them.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while at a stop sign the vehicle lost motive power while the emergency brake signal illuminated. The contact shifted to park to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, my car completely froze and stalled. Everything on my car locked up. I was not able to turn my car off. My gear shift was locked and the gear letters were flashing. After about 1 minute my car starting moving. Scariest experience ever. I have a dash cam video but can not upload the video here.
The digital dashboard lights automatically dim instead of brighten at night so I'm unable to see the speedometer and other instrumentation on the dashboard. I had my vehicle serviced during a recall for this and it fixed it but the problem has reoccurred. This is extremely dangerous because I cannot see the dashboard at night.
The only way to adjust the advanced driver assistance systems (ADSA) in my 2022 compass is VIA a defective radio that continually resets as per Mopar Case number [XXX] from August 2023. according to the bulletin this was supposed to have been fixed via a software update in the 4th quarter of 2023. repeated calls to the mopar wave 800-334-9200 only to be disconnected as soon as i give them the case number 4 times today. The component that failed is the start-stop gas-saving feature on my 2021 Jeep Compass, which I leased in 2021. Initially, the feature stopped working entirely, and the dealer claimed it was due to a battery issue, which they replaced. However, after the repair, the start-stop system began to stall and jolt when stopping at traffic lights. Despite reporting this to the Jeep mechanic, the issue was not considered urgent, so I delayed returning it for further service due to my busy travel schedule and the fact that I rarely drive. I simply avoided using the feature when I did drive. The stalling occurred about four times, but the most significant safety issue happened recently. I was stopped at a traffic light on a busy street when the start-stop feature reactivated automatically. When the light turned green, my vehicle failed to restart, leaving me stuck in the middle of the road with a completely dead car. I had to call AAA for a tow, and I was left blocking traffic in an unsafe situation where I was at risk of being hit by other vehicles. This issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center after this incident, and the vehicle is still available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives since the event. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating a problem before the complete failure, though the stalling and jolting after the initial repair were clear symptoms that something was wrong. The vehicle has only 14,000 miles on it and is less than three years old, so this issue should not be happening in a nearly new car.
Bought my vehicle new at 29 miles. At 4k miles my auto braking light would come in as off. Every 2k it would turn itself off, even though I want the feature on. Even though it says it's off there will be times the warning will alert me to brake for no reason and someone's brake for no reason. I've gone to the dealer multiple times and they wouldn't find a code or a reason why it was doing that, and brush it off like nothing. every 2k miles out would turn off. Now after hitting over 40k miles I started to experience it more often where it would tell me brake. Now something at 49k miles. When I'm on a slight hill or high incline when my vehicle turns off and tries to start it will roll back and not move forward even when I apply the gas like the engine is still off. When that happens the SERVICE HILL HOLDER, and then multiple other safety features have warnings for, SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, STOP/START UNAVAILABLE SERVICE START/STOP SYSTEM. I told the dealer that had my car for a month at 49k miles about the hill holder and what my vehicle did. No results and still have this issue. When you turn off the vehicle the service lights disappear and can't be read. This happens almost every day now. I replaced my AUX battery after it seems to happen when my vehicle is off and struggled to turn back on at times and it still does it. I'm afraid that I'm going to get into an accident when people see I took my foot off the brake and will get rear ended or if my vehicle is going to brake itself and cause an accident or the other safely issue fail. The stability control can be an issue and drive mode I can't turn off or on those features when those notifications pop up. What can happen, will it eventually do this on a freeway and cause a major accident or when I'm through an intersection..5 different dealers and have no answer... Help
Hello I have had my vehicle for 2 yrs and out of the 2yrs my car has stalled mid traffic at least 10 times. While driving the vehicle on a town street, the front wheel/CV joint/axel component failed. As part of this failure, the CV joint/wheel completely separated from the axel making the car impossible to steer. This failure was unbelievable for a relatively new, low milage vehicle. (In another context--on the highway or in busy traffic, a major or fatal accident could have occurred.) Luckily the car was traveling at a rather slow speed on a road where no other cars were present at that particular time. This incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 10. The car was towed to the dealer State Line Jeep (Somerset, MA) on Monday, Aug. 13. The car is still at the dealership and it is curious that they claim they have not been able to find certain parts or get rims (which were damaged at the car slowed against the curb). This is a major and very dangerous defect in this vehicle. Photos and more info can be provided if asked.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was overheating. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway to turn off the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the head gasket. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 59,920.
Few month ago, I received a paper from the manufacturer saying that the car was on recall. I brought the car to the car dealer and they said that there was a problem with the battery. They changed the battery for a new one. Later on, I received a letter from the Jeep saying that they used my factory limit warranty to replace the battery. And saying that next time if I see a form like this it could be a real bill. Around 2 months and a half after, The light of the battery starts flashing and a message appeared on the dashboard saying that I had to park the car immediately because it could stop at anytime automatically. I had to pull over and call a tow truck. We dropped the car to the car dealer. It was on a Sunday. Then, I had my car ready to pick up 5 days later, on the Friday. They told me that they had to change the alternator. I took my car and it seemed all fine. Four days later, the light of the passenger seat belt start flashing and the beep sound started and wouldn't stop. The message was for the passenger to put his seat belt on. The thing is that there was no passenger. I had my hand bag on the passenger seat and I put it away. I turned off the engine. Waiting for 10 minutes and turned on the engine again. Again, the sound went on for the seat belt of the passenger. I turned off the engine again and waited another 10 minutes. This time when I turned on the engine, a message appeared saying that the emergency contact were not available. And another message, that there was something going with the air bag. At this point, I felt very uncomfortable driving the car. I had to drive the car very slow hoping the airbag would not go off. I parked my car in my garage. I called Jeep the day after since it was already closed and they told me to bring the car the week after since they were fully booked with repairs. I could do this as I was traveling to Europe for few weeks. I will be back to LA on the 10 of august and hope to find a solution. Thank you.
The vehicle has an automatic start stop function that randomly turns off the vehicle when at a stop sign and puts the brake on. This has happen 3 times since leasing this car last year. I took the car into the dealership after the second occurrence to get it checked out but they could not duplicate the problem. The first occurrence was around 6 months after getting the car.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the steering wheel, there was an abnormal vibration with a clicking sound coming from the steering column. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering column had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Envision CDJR West Covina (298 N Azusa Ave, West Covina, CA 91791) who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The steering rack was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,963.
I wasn’t having any issues with the backup camera not working that was the last recall on my Jeep Compass. The software fix to the radio, however, has made it so the radio mutes now when the Jeep is put in reverse. When this happens, I become so focused on the radio not playing that I am backing up without paying attention to the camera screen or what is behind me. I spent 25 years driving without a back camera and no accidents. I have spent 35 years driving with a radio when backing up and no accidents. I have been driving less than a year with the radio muting when the Jeep is put in reverse and I am seriously concerned that it is going to cause me to have a wreck. Please have Chrysler figure out a way to still allow the back camera to work without muting the radio in reverse.
Vehicle shut off at stop light , parking break engaged and disengaged , Drive shift was flashing , dash was flashing. I shut the vehicle off twice because it happened twice in the same moment until the third time it allowed me to drive.
Several incidents with the screen/safety features. Have had it in for service several times and it is either stated that it needed an update or nothing was found to be wrong. Two times the radio was replaced. I am into the third year of my lease and there are still intermittent problems -- one being that my backup camera alert did not go off and i ended up backing into a car that came out of no where. Also, have gone to back up and pedestrian warning did not work which could have been a real issue if I had not seen the pedestrian. I can get no assistance from Jeep which I have called several times. I personally do not feel that I should have to pay to have the damage repaired from the backup accident when it was caused by a failure from backup assistance. Have incurred many problems through out the entire time I have had the vehicle. Safety features will turn on and off sporadically on their own.
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. I purchased my Jeep Feb 2023. In May 2024 my issues started and have not stopped or been able to be diagnosed by 2 different dealers after 4 times of them having my car. My check engine light started and then the non stop issues with the center screen and dashboard flashing on and off. The screens change showing all errors and warnings.c The radio shuts off whenever it wants. Now the car shuts off when it wants. First time I was at a stop sign, it turned off and would not go back on for almost 2 minutes. The 2nd time I was yielding and it shut down. I had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it started. On 1 visit I was told that the mechanic did a computer update but I had to let him take it home that night. When I refused I was told to come get it and they didn't touch it. On the last visit which was 10 days I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. Jeep called me 2 days later and stated "maybe they would give me a small discount for a new one" As a loyal Jeep customer, I expect better service and prompt resolution of the significant safety issues.
