NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V438000 (Electrical System). While placing the key in the ignition, it was extremely tight. The driver thought the key could possibly break. The Uconnect and power train warning lights were illuminated. The contact was alerted that the brake lights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was serviced with no brake lights and informed the contact that a diagnostic test was needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. After taking possession of the vehicle, there was an abnormal sizzling sound coming from the dashboard, and the radio was inoperable. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 145,677.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 35–40 MPH, the engine seized. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times, including three times while driving to the dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V438000 (Electrical System) which was associated with the VIN. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the recall repair might not be able to be performed because of the age of the vehicle. In addition, the contact was informed that if the repair was approved by the manufacturer, the labor fee might be at the owner's expense. The contact was informed that the manufacturer needed to approve the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer made the manufacturer aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 184,111.
Lights on the dashboard were blinking, there were no turning signals, the gas gauge was not working, and the check engine light was flashing. My safety was put at risk because I could not let people know when I was turning. I took it to the dealer, and they said there were too many codes, but none were active for them to fix the problem. So, I have to drive the jeep, but this is dangerous. The warning keeps showing me that there is a problem with the ignition switch that was previously recalled. I want this taken care of, please.
Every single code is displayed when using a ODB2 scan tool. I have many electrical issues that go away and come back. Sluggish performance. Random components inside the jeep will fail at random. I’m thinking the ECU is faulty. Somedays it will run fine with all the codes still present.
Dash will read "ESP System Disabled" during this the engine light and red lightning in brackets ( ) turns on, on the dash. This affects the acceleration there is none and brakes work but is slow to come to a full stop. An inspection can be scheduled. This happens anytime and randomly, getting safely off the road is hard. First happened April 1, 2024 then April 3, 2024. Had a family mechanic work on it got it back and less than a day having it back and it happened 5 more times just driving to work on August 28, 2024.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V438000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service brakes and the power steering were inoperable. The contact used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that after enabling the parking brake, the vehicle independently shut off. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 191,191.
I was at the light a and the truck caught on fired
The Jeep would not start. When the key was inserted into the ignition switch and turned to the start position, all that would happen is a single click. The starter would not engage. The key had to me jiggled in order to start the Jeep. The ignition switch has very high sensitivity.
While driving the transmission will go into neutral without warning. I have to coast to a spot I can pull over then put into park then back into drive again and vehicle will go . It has done this three times.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine turned over but then failed to restart. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was possibly the wiring ignition module switch. Additionally, the contact stated that prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired again. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 196,000.
Ignition system was repaired under recall in 2016. The cars ignition system continues to have issues and will shut off and cause the car not to restart. Very dangerous to be driving and have the engine fail. This happened on the highway recently. Chrysler says there is nothing they can do. Car has been looked at by independent mechanics and I have notified the dealership. They say it is my responsibility now.
The fuel tank skid plate has completely rusted and has broken off. My tank (that has a date of 2004 stamped on it) is completely exposed. I am afraid that my tank is going to fall off and cause harm to myself or the driver/vehicle behind me. The vehicle is mostly city street / highway driving… no off road driving. I am concerned of the considerable amount of pot holes ️ in my area that damage can be done based on the area I live in. Southwestern Pennsylvania has a lot of pot holes.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V438000 (Electrical System) however, the repair failed to fix the vehicle. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 189,000.
The ECM in trans has defect which can throw jeep into another gear. Electrical issues confuses trans module check engine light us on.. differential is loose now. Unsafe to drive gears could shift causing a crash . Vehicle has been diagnosed at Mr Transmission. 773-768 7676. For full REPORT!+=
Vehicle slips into neutral when driving. Only ways you fix is to put in park turn off the car and turn it back on.
Entering my exit I noticed my 1month old was no longer sound asleep but screaming I turned around noticing she was being approached by smoke arising from the back of the vehicle. As panic set in I immediately tried to come to stop moving off the exit. At the same time clear fluid gushed out of the hood and smoke immediately entered the front of the vehicle making it difficult to come to a stop see or breath. I went blank out of fear or pure confusion as I reached for my infant in the back as quickly as I could at that point she was. No longer crying. I shot out of the vehicle as fast as possible and stayed in a safety spot attempting to shield her from the sun as I watched the jeep ignite and continue to smoke itself out witnesses gathered around one allowing me to sit in her vehicle with my baby until help arrived. NO warning signs once so ever no indication of an over heating vehicle drove perfectly and not frequently it may be inspected at the towing it was taken to as for the safety of my newborn and myself we both could’ve tragically ended up gone because I was not and would not have thought twice about leaving my daughter in that vehicle. she just got into this world to be taken that fast it wasnt an option. I’ve been very uneasy since the incident with absolutely anything that functions or is electronic. Continues replay in my head over and over again in detail and nothing new pops up truly a very Traumatic experience and an unexpected loss. appointments I can’t make it to have had to cancel I do not have family here especially not close by to help me this accident was by far caused by the vehicle because it definitely look like he had a mind of its own suddenly
drivers side rear interior door handle plastic cup securing the handle broken. Cannot open door from inside.
The vehicle flipped down an embankment and into a creek and none of the air bags deployed, frontal or side curtains. Insurance adjuster has inspected vehicle. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to failure.
1. Fuel tank started leaking on the top. 2. Middle backseat belt was stuck. It would not pull out. No matter what we tried it just got tighter and tighter, had to cut it. 3. Can't use seat warmer on passenger side because it will burn the person sitting there because the seat tore.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while idle, the vehicle would overheat with the transmission temperature sensor warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shudder and hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him that the vehicle had to be serviced by an authorized dealer. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V396000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
Driving down the road the vehicle cuts off had to try and pull off the road. It would not crank back. Had to have it towed.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE ALL POWER FOR VARYING AMOUNTS OF TIME. ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO RUN AND VEHICLE DRIVES BUT DURING THIS POWER LOSS ALL LIGHTS, CRUISE CONTROL, A/C, AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ARE INOPERABLE. DRIVING CONDITIONS HAVE NOT CHANGED AND THESE SYMPTOMS HAVE SUDDENLY SHOWED UP.
While operating the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the instrument cluster acts as if it's disconnected..., Speedodemeter, Tachometer, fuel gauge, and temperature gage all go to zero, yet the engine continues to run without interruption. Then, with no rhyme or reason, the entire dashboard lights up (as if just turning the car on). All of this occurs within 26 seconds. No effect on the radio, A/C, etc., only seems to affect the instrument cluster. Not sure if the lights/brake lights/turn signals work when this occurs. I have a video, but cannot upload via this website - it is a .mov file.
NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN DRIVING EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL WILL GO OUT, THE DASH LIGHTS,HEADLIGHTS RADIO LIGHTS EVERYTHING LIKE THE CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF. ONE TIME I HIT THE DASH AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON ANOTHER TIME JUST TO SEE I OPENED MY DRIVER DOOR AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR BACK EVERYTHING WENT BACK OFF. IT STARTED AS RANDOM BUT IS NOW MORE AND MORE OFTEN. IT HAPPENS ALWAY WHEN I AM DRIVING.
DASHBOARD LIGHTS KEEP FLICKERING, THE WHOLE DASHBOARD TURN ON AND OFF AND HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER AND WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and independently shifted to a low gear causing the vehicle to slow down. The contact stated that the oil and battery warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (Electrical system). The vehicle was repaired. The contact then stated a month later while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Consumer stated vehicle is not responding.*JB
ALL THE ELECTRICAL STUFF ON MY CAR FLASHES ON AND OFF OR WILL JUST GO COMPLETELY BLANK FOR AWHILE WHILE I'M DRIVING THIS INCLUDES SPEEDOMETER AND ALL MY LIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH IS VERY MUCH NEEDED TO DRIVE SAFELY IT APPEARS THAT THE CAR SHUTS OFF BUT IT CONTINUES TO RUN AND I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND IT IS MY IGNITION SWITCH I SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT ALREADY AND I CALLED AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT I'M NOT SURE HOW ALL OF THIS WORKS SO I'M WRITING YOU GUYS FOR HELP. WHEN IT HAD FIRST HAPPENED I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN IN WASHINGTON STATE I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE NOW I CAN'T TAKE THE CHANCE OF BEING ON THE FREEWAY AND THIS HAPPENING AGAIN IN THE RAIN THE SPEEDOMETER WASN'T SO SCARY BUT WHEN YOUR WINDSHIELD WIPERS GO OUT WHILE IT'S RAINING AND YOU'RE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IT'S PRETTY SCARY AND VERY UNSAFE FOR EVERYONE. THE VIDEO I HAVE IS ANOTHER DAY IT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN IT WAS TOO RISKY TO TRY AND TAKE VIDEOS OF IT THE FIRST TIME. SO I GUESS I CAN'T UPLOAD VIDEOS ON HERE THE PICTURE IT LOOKS LIKE I COULD BE PARKED BUT I DO HAVE A VIDEO THAT I CAN SEND IN TO YOU GUYS IF YOU PROVIDE ME WITH AN EMAIL
THE BLEND AIR DOORS BREAK OR FALL APART AND NO LONGER WORK! ALWAYS HEAT! BLEND DOORS ARE CRAP. THIS IS SOMETHING!
1. Airbag light was on when I purchased the vehicle from SRQ in Bradenton Florida February 2020. 2. The hood handle inside the vehicle was broke replaced it, it broke again. 3. The hood will not shut properly due to the latch inside the vehicle broke. Now the Hood will not stay up by itself property, began in August 2022. 4. Both door handles inside vehicle in the back were broken now the passenger side is broken no way to open vehicle door from inside. 5. December 2022 battery light is coming on, battery is no more than 2 years old check engine light keeps coming on. 6. Sunroof is leaking inside the vehicle when it rains. Hardly ever use/open sunroof. 7. Traction control light comes on blinking quite often since I purchased a vehicle in February 2020. 8. Sometimes vehicle will go into third gear from drive and will not switch down to any other gear or back into drive. It stays in 3rd. I have to turn vehicle off then back on for it to be back into drive. Bought vehicle in February 2020 and spent well over $6,000 in repairs. I have all receipts. Have many more problems that I will send next. It only let me select 3 at a time.
THE HORN IS INTERMITTENTLY SOUNDING WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. WHEN PARKED THE KEYS ARE NOT IN THE IGNITION AND ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
WHILE PARKED THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WILL NOT START. IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TURNING THE KEY AND SHUTTING OFF THE LIGHTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTS. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE THAT THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX BECAUSE THE PART IS NOT AND HAS NOT BEEN IN STOCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED. SEVERAL MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER MOUNTAIN VIEW CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 6276 ALABAMA HWY, RINGGOLD, GA 30736, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND THE DRIVE CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THE DOOR HANDLES EASILY CRACK OFF OF THE DOOR PANEL WHICH PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING ABLE TO BE OPENED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. AND IT CAN NOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT THE WHOLE DOOR PANEL BEING REPLACED.
PCM HAS BEEN REPLACEMENT MULTIPLE TIMES BY DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP. When computer fails it has failed a circuit with 02 sensors which kills engine power randomly while driving on highways. It has turned ABS light on and Service 4x4 randomly and won’t let the vehicle travel over 10mph. Very dangerous on roads. I’ve had three computers installed in the last Year and a half and have given me 3 close calls almost causing accident. That’s 3 too many. I’m not the only one with the computer issues ask around to owners with these jeeps. How many close called does someone need for Chrysler to not even repair but Just to look into. Do people need to die in an accident for people to take this seriously. The issue is NOT from lack of maintenance either. If my ABS module was failed I would no. My vehicle has a 115,000miles on it and when this dangerous intermittent issues occur there are no DTC codes stored. This is a total epic failure done by Chrysler. If they don’t find something soon about theses vehicles. I will be sure never to by another Jeep product. I don’t drive this vehicle unless I’m alone never-mind one of my niece or nephews With me in this death trap I’ve learned my lesson On this one Chrysler Please help NHTSA!!
ALL SAFETY RECALLS AND RECALLS HAVE NOT BEEN DONE
SHUDDERS WHEN IN STATIONARY POSITION
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT SHUTS OFF. THE ENGINE STAYS OPERATIONAL. AFFECTED EQUIPMENT INCLUDES A/C, LIGHTS (BOTH INTERIOR/EXTERIOR), WIPERS, AIRBAGS, LOCKS, WINDOWS, AND DASH GAUGES/COMPONENTS. THE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IS NON-RESPONSIVE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF DURING COLD STARTS AND REQUIRED AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME TO RESTART ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WON'T SPEED UP AND WHEN IS DOES IT GETS JAMMED AND IT SHAKES AND WHEN I BREAK ITS SHAKES EVEN WHEN I TURN. I JUST BOUGHT IT AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT'S EITHER THE MOTOR MESSED UP OR THE COMPUTER. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'LL COST ME 3,000 I DON'T HAVE THAT. I SAVED UP FOR A HEAD TO BY IT. AND A MONTH AFTER I GOT IT IT'S MESSING UP. BUT WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND IT THREW NO CODES NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. IT TOOK ALL OF A MONTH TO BREAK DOWN ON ME. AND THE BATTERY WON'T STAY CHARGED THEY PUT IN A NEW BATTERY WHEN I FIRST GOT IT. THEN I HAD TO WARRANTY ANOTHER BECAUSE THAT ONE STOPPED WORKING. I JUST NEED HELP TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE LIGHT BULBS, FUSES AND BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
EVERY DAY I CRANK UP MY JEEP I GIVE IT 5-10 MINS BEFORE I MOVE IT BECAUSE IT HAS THIS SHAKE OR VIBRATION TO IT REALLY BAD IT STOPS AND THEN ONCE I HAVE EXCEEDED 45-55 MPH AND START TO COME TO A STOP IT SHAKES THE ENTIRE FRONT END. NOW IF I'M BELOW 45 IT DON'T REALLY DO IT AS OFTEN! WHEN I TURN OR HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FRONT END RATTLED OR VIBRATING FROM IT! SOME DAYS WHEN I'M TRYING TO MAKE A U TURN IT SEEMS AS IF IT'S HAVING A HARD TIME TURNING! CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON AND OFF! HAD IT CHECKED NOTHING IS COMING UP INDICATING A MISFIRE OR ANYTHING! THE GAS MILEAGE SUCKS! GET A FULL TUNE UP AND IT WILL RUN BETTER SPENDING ALL MY MONEY AND IT'S STILL A PIECE OF CRAP! *TR
STRESS CRACKS AND FULL CRACKS AND BROKEN INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS IF CAN'T OPEN DOOR IN AN EMERGENCY. 3 OF THE 4 HANDLES HAVE MAJOR CRACK AND ONE IS FULLY BROKEN. *TR

THE JEEP HAS STARTING PROMBLES IT WILL RUN AND START FINE THEN THE NEXT IT DOSE NOT WANT TO START. SO I COULD JUST RUN IN THE STORE AND COME OUT AND IT WON'T START AND I HAVE TO SIT A HOUR OR TWO AND THEN IT STARTS AGINE. IT DOSE THIS AFTER RUNNING TO THREE PLACES IT WILL STALL AGINE ON ME AND WON'T START. I HAVE BRAND NEW STARTER IN IT AND BATTERY. HAD THE ALTERNATOR CHECKED AND ITS FINE AND ALSO THERE WAS RECALL ON INGINTION SWITCH AND THAT GOT REPLACED BUT STILL HAVING PROMBLES WITH IT STARTING.
THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAS PRACTICALLY DISSOLVED. THE METAL IS TOO THIN OR IT SHOULD OF HAD A PROTECTIVE COATING. PERHAPS BOTH.*DT *TR *TR
WELL MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF! I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY REASSURED ME THE AIRBAGS ARE THERE AND HAVEN'T BEEN DEPLOYED AT ALL. BUT MY CONCERN IS THAT THE LIGHT IS ON FOR A REASON EITHER THE SEATBELTS OR THE AIRBAGS ARE FAULTY. NO MATTER IF I'M PARKED OR IF I'M IN MOTION THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND I WANT TO BE SAFE AND SECURE THAT IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT I WON'T BE KILLED BECAUSE MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AS THEY SHOULD! I KNOW MY JEEP IS OLD BUT IT'S IN GOOD CONDITION I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE TO DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I SEARCHED BY MY VIN AND IT HASN'T HAD A RECALL ABOUT THAT PROBLEM SO PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
1. Engine over heating problems numerous times and coolant leak. Even after replacement of radiator and hoses. 2. Went to pick up jeep from mechanic due to oil leak, when they brought it around, I noticed pink fluid dripping. Had Transmission serviced in March/April 2020 due to a leak., Flushed system, new filters and fluid. Last few months vehicle says "Transmission over Temp" a few times. Replaced transmission pan, due to a leak, new fluid added, in September 2022. Vehicle indicated "Transmission over Temp" a few weeks later. Didn't drive it a few days, haven't seen the warning sign yet. 3. Numerous oil leaks. Serpitean belt replaced along with other repairs. 4. When I bought vehicle, it had no heat and coolant was leaking in on passenger side floor. 5. Jeep shifts to 3rd gear and won't shift down or back into drive until I turn off vehicle and back on. Very dangerous I was a busy road, US 41 heading north, and had to pull over.
IT STARTED OUT WITH MY KEY FOB NOT UNLOCKING MY CAR. SO I DECIDED TO UNLOCK MY CAR MANUALLY, DOING SO SET OFF THE ALARM AND HAD THE LIGHTS BLINKING AND HORN GOING OFF. SO I THEN DECIDED TO ORDER A NEW FOB WITH A NEW BATTERY (EVEN THOUGH MINE WAS NEW). THAT DIDN'T WORK, SO I DECIDED TO CALL SOMEONE TO COME PROGRAM MY FOB, THINKING THAT WAS THE ISSUE. SO THEY DID. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEN THE FOB DIDN'T UNLOCK MY CAR, BRAND NEW FOB, BRAND NEW BATTERY. BACK TO SQUARE 1, UNLOCKING IT MANUALLY DEALING WITH THE HORN ISSUE. THEN, 1 DAY GOT IN MY CAR, STARTED IT AND PULLED IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE HORN WENT OFF AND WOULD NOT STOP EVEN AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR. IT CONTINUED TO BE AN ISSUE AND THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE RESOLVED. SO WE PULLED THE FUSE TO MY HORN. NOW I'M DRIVING WITH NO HORN, A HAZARD. ISSUES CONTINUED, MY CAR NOW NOT ONLY WILL THE ALARM STILL GO OFF WITH FLASHING LIGHTS NOW IT'S NOT STARTING, IT'S EVEN ACTED UP WHILE DRIVING WITH THE ENGINE HAVING WEIRD SPASMS AND ACCELERATING. WORRIED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE A BRAND NEW BATTERY AND EVEN GOT IT TESTED BY MECHANICS AND THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS FINE. MY CAR HAS HUGE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND THE AIRBAGS APPARENTLY DON'T WORK EITHER. BUT I'VE PULLED OUT FUSES AND IT SOMETIMES REBOOTS THE CAR AND WILL START NORMAL AND WORK FOR MAYBE A FEW DAYS BEFORE ACTING UP AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WON'T EVEN START AND MAKE A CLICKING SOUND AS IF IT'S THE BATTERY BUT THEN AFTER MANY TRIES OR SOMETIMES A FEW IT'LL START. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A BIT NOW AND HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE AND MORE WORRISOME
MY INTERIOR HANDLES ON ALL 4 DOORS HAVE BEEN CRACKED FOR YEARS BUT NOW THEY ARE COMPLETELY CRUMBLED. AT FIRST, I HAD TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR PASSENGERS IN THE REAR SEATS, THEN, WHOMEVER WAS IN MY PASSENGER SEAT, THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR ME TO GO AROUND & OPEN THE DOOR FOR THEM. THEY COULD NOT GET OUT FROM THE INSIDE. IT WAS A HASSLE BUT I MOSTLY DRIVE ALONE, SO I TOLERATED IT. AS OF YESTERDAY, I NOW HAVE TO OPEN MY WINDOW, (DRIVERS SIDE), TO OPEN MY DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE BECAUSE IT'S CRACK TO THE POINT, THAT I CAN'T OPEN MY DOOR FROM THE INSIDE ANY LONGER. IT'S A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT & NEEDED TO GET OUT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO. YEARS AGO, THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN CLEARWATER, FL. WAS GOING TO REPLACE DOOR PANELS, TO REPLACE THE HANDLES, BUT THE DISTRICT MGR THAT OK'D WAS TRANSFERRED & THE NEW DISTRICT MGR. REFUSED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, COULD BE A MATTER OF LIFE & DEATH. I'M HOPING & PRAYING YOU WILL DO SOMETHING TO REMEDY THIS. IF NOT, I'M THINKING OF CALLING THE LOCAL NEWS. ALL 4 INTERIOR DOOR OPENING HANDLES HAVE CRACKED, BROKEN & CRUMBLED. DOOR HANDLES ARE TOTALLY INOPERABLE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE ' IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION DRIVER & PASSENGERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH! MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALL WARRANTED!
MY 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO (3.7 LITER V6) HAS ABOUT 78,500 MILES. IN 2018 MY JEEP HAD AN ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT INCIDENT. I HAD THE OBDII READ BY O'REILLY AUTO PARTS FOR THE FAILURE CODES. THE CODES DOWNLOADED WERE U0404 & P0700. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE STATED, 'DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE AND IT SHOULD GO AWAY', HE WAS RIGHT - THE FAILURE CODE (DASH LIGHT) WENT AWAY. NOW, FEB. 7, 2020 MY ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT WENT ON. AGAIN I WENT TO O'REILLY AUTO PART TO HAVE THE OBDII ERROR CODES READ. AGAIN, THE ERROR CODES CAME UP U0404 & P0700. I DID SOME RESEARCH (ON THE WEB) AND FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT ADDRESSED THESE TWO EXACT FAILURE CODES. PLEASE SEE THE YOUTUBE VIDEO, WEB ADDRESS, BELOW THAT EXPLAINS THE FAILURE AND REPAIR. HTTPS://M.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=YD71KNUO2AU THIS VIDEO CLEARLY SHOWS THE REASON FOR THESE TWO ERROR CODES. THE SHIFTING CONSOLE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) HAS ALLOWED (OVER TIME) THE TRANSFER OF MATERIAL BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT DRIVE SELECTION POINTS (DRIVE, REVERSE, PARK) ON THE PCB TO BE SHORT CIRCUITED (BRIDGED) CAUSING A FALSE SIGNAL TO THE OTHER CONTROL DEVICES. THIS IS NOT LISTED AS A SERVICEABLE ITEM BY JEEP. AS A RESULT JEEP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FAILURE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STATE THAT THIS IS A SERVICE PREVENTABLE FAILURE. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING MY COMPLAINT.
